So he maybe wasn't there to see his daughters become adults, but he was there for the majority of their childhood.

When he left, Mayjack and Flertom were 12, and Puckpatty was 10. They reach adulthood at 14, so maybe yes, he was absent when they were still kids, but that doesn't mean he didn't maintained contact with them afterwards as far as I know. Imagine that there's this person whose whole thing is being without fear and the fandom decides he's afraid of a dude in a fursuit.

I think it comes down to primarily two reasons, one being because people think it's funny

They think it's funny that this character without fear can suddenly be afraid of this human Bat guy. If it was just a few people in the fandom doing this, it wouldn't be nearly as bad; people are after all allowed to do whatever they want, even if we don't like it. The problem lies in where the actual comic writers start adapting this as canon as it's a huge disservice to Hal's character

The second reason is just basically these people legitimately think Hal should be afraid of Bruce because he's ~The Batman~ (which, again, you're allowed to think that, just know that's not really in character for Hal....like at all)

The whole deal with Bruce is that, both in universe and in real life, he's designed to terrify low level criminals: thugs, crooks, any unsavory person who wanders the Gotham alleyways. That's the environment Bruce works the best in. Where he can easily slip into the shadows, where he can become the night and make himself out to be a monster he wants to be. The only people who should be afraid of Batman are the ordinary hoods and criminals that infest cities

But when you suddenly stick him in a brightly lit room like the Hall of Justice next to all these colorful superheroes, that's where his effectiveness pretty much stops. All his tactics and methods to scare people don't really work here. Suddenly, he's just some guy in a bat getup with a scowly mask on. And these are seasoned superheroes, they don't scare easily, especially the ones with powers like speedsters or Kryptonians. Bruce is out of his element. Everything he does to try to act scary should look comical and silly at best

And as for Hal, I think we can all agree that Hal has definitely seen some shit. He goes off into deep space, for months up to a year or so. Who knows what kind of unimaginable horrors he's had to deal with?? Going a bit into headcanon area, but I think that if Hal wasn't desensitized before, he definitely is now. He's not afraid of space Cthulhu and he is not gonna be afraid of a bat furry who furrows his eyebrows really hard. Hal isn't scared of anything--physical, that is. And I feel like Hal is definitely the kind of person who sees straight through Bruce's BS posturing, Bruce's whole act just doesn't work on Hal.

Unfortunately, just like a tornado, any character who comes close to a Bat gets dealt major damage and we're still picking up the pieces and trying to set things straight again OTL

Something I’ve noticed for awhile is that I often get comments from people about how they are surprised how I always come up with theories and try to guess what might happen and they “could never do that” themselves. I want to say: yes you can! There’s honestly a shortage of Nevermoor theories and ideas and speculation and etc and I want to see MORE!!!

Want to talk about how Morrigan’s mom is actually secretly alive? How the Scholar Mistresses are a Wundrous Act? Do you think the Tempus Divinity looks like an owl, or do you think Weaving and Ruination would be met together? Or have you ever thought about how this one line, from Chapter 19 of Nevermoor, about Betram Crow actually means he was a Cursed Child? Whatever it is you want to talk about: GO FOR IT!!!

I personally find it very fun to go sort of “English class mode” and look at the text in front of me and think about what different things might mean and analyze it and even overthink it to an unnecessary (but fun!) amount. But that’s just me and how I like to approach things! You don’t need to make long posts and quote specific lines if that isn’t your style. The big thing to remember is that so much can happen in the next six books, so throw any idea out there! You never know what twists and turns will be thrown at us. I think it’s fun to share these ideas and discuss with other people— sure, maybe there’s just something you missed when reading, but perhaps some new ideas spawn might from it. Some speculation could even serve as inspiration for fics!

There are some theories and thoughts that I’ve posted that have been “debunked” when I reread a book, or when someone pointed out something, or even just when something had a real-world basis that I as an American didn’t catch. But it was still fun to think about it all, and there’s some bits and pieces that I see as notable and worth considering. I think most of the Silverborn Masterpost is going to be “wrong”, but if just 1% of it is “correct”, even indirectly, I will take that as a win. I know it feels like during the hiatus everyone’s talked about everything, but I hope that the incoming communal reread (fingers crossed) and obviously Silverborn brings some speculation back to the fandom because I want to discusssssss!

this is so incredibly self indulgent because i see ningguang, ei and kafka in the same sentence and explode. everyone pretend i didnt accidentally pick a fav here um

ningguang i already see as a pillow princess more than anything she fits this so well. absolutely adores going slow + worship. treat this woman like royalty and lord you will not regret it. she goes all out to make the night as perfect as possible. will not let you have a hand in any of it sorry!! this is her turf. perfect atmosphere suited to your tastes (tons of candles, if you like that, or just going by moonlight is also her style). incense, taking a few minutes beforehand just to really get settled in the mood (usually by cuddling, but shes not against just taking a moment for some tea or even a game of chess).

you'll also probably need all that extra time to sort through whatever shes bought this time. when i said she goes the whole nine yards i mean it. she has money and she will use it. very expensive lingerie for herself (and you, if thats your thing.) and literally anything you could ever want. it heavily depends on what you both want out of the night but she spares no mora making it the best she can.

the non-sexual intimacy before hand (and especially after) is important to her she takes it very seriously (for the both of you). you'll probably get dragged into taking a long bath afterwards before actually going to bed. hope you arent too tired! because its gonna be a while before you actually sleep.

though i also see ei as someone who prefers giving even when subbing. a dangerous combo considering her body is a puppet and, yknow, cant get tired. you will have to pry this woman off you shes lowkey insatiable when it comes to pleasing you. 100% less of a brat, though. you give her an order shes following through with it before you can blink. efficient!

kafka is similar to miko, imo. maybe yelan too?? she gives off big brat vibes when she subs. she wont use suggestion in bed unless your 100% cool with it and even then its usually when she doms but when she subs? shes a menace. bit of a masochist, to be honest. she'll push your buttons until you crack and decide to punish her but woops, thats just what she wants so she wins anyway!

she cant feel fear but she certainly enjoys a good thrill. specifically sensory deprivation. cover her eyes with a blindfold and keep her guessing. its probably her favorite part, the closest she can get to fear. especially if you add a bit of pain into it.

jonny d'villes heart ticks audibly. the crew can hear it during the few and far between quiet moments on board the aurora. it's so steady, tick tick tick, a reminder that he is there and they are all alive together, never speeding up or slowing down. sometimes they joke about using it as a metronome during practice.

jonnys heart ticks. he can hear it every waking moment. tick tick tick. it never slows down, even in the deepest sleep according to the rest of the crew. it never speeds up even when his blood is more adrenaline then actual blood, times when normal peoples hearts would be racing. whether he's laughing his ass off or terrified for his life (I guess old habits die hard?) it. never. speeds. up. sometimes it's fine, he can ignore it but there are days when the constant tick tick tick tick tick tick tick is too much. the days when he has to drown out the sound with gunfire and screams or music loud enough to make his ears bleed. some days even that barely cuts it and he debates putting a bullet in his head just to make it quiet for a few hours. the rest of the crew has gotten pretty good at recognizing those days, and they know how to help him get through them, just like he knows how to help his crew through their bad days. nastya will bring him into the near deafening engine room and theyll play with power tools until their hands are covered in grease and grit, or Tim will sit him down on a speaker and play the bass so loud the whole ship can feel it, or Marius and raphaella will tell him about unethical medical practices they've witnessed/performed or Brian will just hold him close until the rhythms of the metal man's body distract from the tick tick tick tick of his own heart. the constant tick of immortality is loud. jonny can't deny his luck in finding a crew that is almost always louder.

Oh for sure, I’ve actually talked about it in my essays about c!dream being autistic [post] and later in a discussion on adhd [post]. I think since it’s not like we can see c!Dream fidget as a Minecraft character the best representation we can get is him bouncing around. :)

How would the rest of the server react?… hm I’m not sure… would they care? Would it matter to them? It’s hard to know, when you have a group of people who will throw someone in prison or watch him lose his last life, it’s hard for me to think they’d give a damn. I just don’t know, I’ve only ever told friends and family and some others who I figured would give a positive response, never to like an enemy. And usually I would do in advance so people have context before I do something they dislike, not during or after (something I think cc!dream might have screwed up on - though to be fair he did make a comment in a podcast so…) as it then doesn’t feel like I’m trying to use it to excuse my behavior. In other words, I think when, as in at what point in the story, people found out he is autistic, makes a difference. If for example they only found out later around the time of Doomsday I don’t think it would change many of their perceptions of him. If they had it before a lot of the conflict began then that might be different. Like for example, would people allow Wilbur to target him if they knew, hard to say but it would be interesting. It also matters how they find out and how much they know. For example, I tell people about what it’s like for me, so that I can then ask them to give me some grace when I need it and give me a chance to explain my side if need be. I tell them so I can then ask something of them, so the question is would Dream tell them in an effort to ask for their grace. Or would he just tell them and then just assume they would give him the benefit of the doubt. Because it’s also important for him to communicate what’s going on, if there is a disconnect happening because of autism like - me getting upset because I’ve gotten too overstimulated by the bright lights or clock ticking, then I need to tell people that’s why I’m losing it not because of anything they’ve done. Assumptions are communication’s biggest enemy or more commonly phrased, “Assumptions are the enemy of true understanding” or as George Bernard Shaw says, “The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place.”

Knowing of autistic diagnosis is step one, step two is communicating that and what it means. Now that you and the other are aware you’re speaking a different language you need to do the translation. To continue an analogy I did earlier, now that you realize you are talking about an American jumper and the other person is talking about a British jumper, it’s time to take the time to explain what an American jumper is and learn what a British jumper is so than you are on the same page.

This would be the same for c!Dream. The best way for his diagnosis to mean anything without people treating him demeaningly (which does happen) is for him to communicate. But both parties have to be willing to listen and understand where eachother are coming from. The autistic person has to put aside their logic to realize that that isn’t always how other people think, and the non-autistic person has to put aside their emotions and feelings of the situation to hear the other person out. (This btw is the problem with the conversation with cc!Tubbo and cc!Dream, cc!Tubbo was not willing to hear cc!Dream out or change his mind. And if that’s the case, discussion is unproductive because the person isn’t willing to hear you out and possibly change their mind or perspective).

In other words, there are basically four outcomes from c!Dream telling people depending on when he does 1) they disregard it as an excuse that he’s using to justify his actions 2) they take the opposite approach and baby him (I think this happens I wouldn’t know it’s not been my experience) 3) it makes no difference in their opinion one way or another or 4) it provides the scaffolding for a bridge of understanding that for the members willing to form that bridge are able to better community and understand c!Dream. But again this only happens if it’s caught, highlighted and both sides are willing to talk it out. Though diagnosis is also useful in the real world, because now that you know you speak a different language, you can start to learn the other one to understand them better. Because then you can be aware of what’s happening and better adapt. And these skills can come from experience, books, therapy, videos and stuff that can help you become aware of how non-autistic brains work to better communicate with them… anyways I’ve strayed from the point haven’t I, oops…

Okay LISTEN. Kylux has such beautiful parallels and opposites in their life stories that it's almost beautiful.

The height of Ben's life was him being young. He was naturally gifted, had a great family, and a promising future. There were problems, but he had friends, and he was thriving. Then he grew up and renounced his identity as Ben and things went downhill.

Hux's childhood on the other hand was his low point. It wasn't until adulthood that he rose up and became stronger.

Kylo killed his father because he loved him. Snoke saw it as a weakness and made him do it. It tore him apart.

Hux killed his father because he hated him. He needed to thrive and that had to happen with Brendol's death.

Hux is reserved and handles his emotions accordingly, rarely ever doing more than raising his voice whenever the occasion permits it.

Kylo can't control his emotions and only acts in anger, unable to ground himself as well as Hux does.

They're opposites but also so much alike. Violent, self serving, desiring full control over the throne.

So alike yet so different. I mourn the loss of the duel of the fates script because in that they actually did come together. Rey refused Kylo's help so Kylo took Hux's hand. Let him lead, obeyed enough to shave his entire head simply because Hux found it too disorderly. Original Hux was fascinated by the force, he wished he had it. While Kylo's life is ruined by it.

Sometimes, I think that Kylo and Hux's relationship was tarnished just to make Rey and Kylo seem more probable. Those two were stronger together, and the writers tore them apart. But they're perfect together, opposite yet one in the same.
