I'm usually not one to watch camcorded versions of movies but there are the very rare times when i do make exceptions. And boy i'm glad i not spent any money on this movie because it is already and hour and 40 minutes i'm never getting back.

Preface: these are my personal opinions and no offence to anyone who likes this movie. That said.

I am so utterly disappointed. There was potential. There were a lot of choices i do not vibe with. A whole lot i just don't understand why they were made. There was not a whole lot i actually liked.

There was no actual climax to this movie. It happend for sure. But there isn't anything actually memorable. Not a one liner nor a truly visually striking scene. The main bad guy is so depressingly bland.

I'm not sure they knew what they wanted to do here stylistically. It is far too long, the gory action bits are utterly pointless. And i have a real complaint about the choices in music, save for one single scene.

Basically all of the things i was worried about happening with this one actually did happen. The fundamental core of the original story wasn't there and that just makes me sad.

the steven universe hate is insane bc people are (or at least were) more upset that fictional war criminals got fictional hugs than they recognize that it singlehandedly advanced queer rep in children's media by lightyears and then straight up ate heavy retaliation for the nerve.

It does have real flaws that are worth discussing, but it also put their male protagonist in dresses and skirts and played it straight and even empowering, they aired a lesbian wedding on television, it was a genuinely queer, genuinely diverse piece of media through and through. It did a lot of real good for the real world.

But also the fictional characters caused fictional harm to other fictional characters, and didn't get an onscreen firing squad sentence. So, you know, it's basically ontologically evil in real life.

#i'll never shut up about how the last season ate a 20 episode cut because it was either that or cut the wedding #and the crewniverse stuck to their guns #of course it was rushed. They were literally punished for being queer #This is why we keep saying “you couldn't even handle steven universe” because not only was it actually good #but it did REAL WORLD good and FOUGHT for real world human rights #but because the fiction wasn't hayes code enough y'all lit the crewniverse on fire for it.#Abysmal priorities. finally got some time to finish these guys up! which is sort of ironic considering I started these because I wanted to draw Malleus with a Dragapult, and then I just didn't for a million years!

Malleus has the aforementioned Dragapult, except it's a super special non-canon color Dragapult (like an anime-only form that you could get in-game exclusively through some limited-time event where you have to show up in-person at a specific location in Japan) (it has some wacky overpowered exclusive move/form and the OT is listed as Malleus) (so like that kind of ridiculous specialness) (Leona is extremely salty about this). also hoards and hoards of Dreepy. Dreepy LOVE Malleus. they take naps on his horns inbetween begging him to throw them across the island at mach speeds.

Lilia has a Drampa and a bunch of Woobat that he hasn't actually caught, they just follow him around in swarms because they sense a kinship with him. (also breaking my own rule again to say that he had a Mawile in the past, because...I just really wanted to give him a Mawile...)

Sebek has Sandile for obvious reasons, and also a Pikachu that bullies him relentlessly. :(

Silver has a shiny Corvisquire; I really went back-and-forth on also giving him an Aegislash, but...hm. those pokedex entries though. he can stick with just one for now.

(I hadn't planned on the shiny for him, but after I'd decided on the Corvisquire line and was looking it up for reference, I realized that shiny Rookidee is gold and then turns silver when it evolves and I lost my entire goddamn mind)
