In the wild, Tsareena live in large groups ruled by an alpha (no relation to the alpha gene) called a Matriarch. Matriarch Tsareena rule their groups, known as a Garden, taking care of young, giving other pokemon orders, taking care of young, and keeping everyone safe.

If the matriarch dies, a Steenee will evolve to take her place. The steenee is often trained by the Tsareena beforehand; just in case. While many people think it's always the matriarch Tsareena's child, that's only a misconceptions. The Steenee does not have to be related to the matriarch Tsareena
