My hometown is named after a horse that lived there in the 18th century. You should look up the toponymy of your hometown and leave it in the tags.
#as far as i know it is just a conjoined name from the words gate and castle#tho the river going through it originally had a name that somewhat is remimiscent of the word for gate#so it is either named after the fact that there was a castle by said river#or because the castle had a gate 🤦🏻#because it wasn't a strategical spot at any point or anything in a sense that being a 'gate' would make sense
