Started a new book series, and has been a journey...an Odyssey, if you will.

#poorly drawn odyssey #the odyssey #Athena #telemachus #penelope #odysseus #calypso #I also drew Phemius the bard and Antinous the leader of the suitors but I'll hold onto those for a while longer.#The Odyssey has been on my reading list for ages and I finally decided to just dive into the Robert Fagles translation.#*nobody* ever talks about how damn funny the Odyssey is. Oh my god. I have been howling.#The poor bard doomed to keep playing for this unending feast. The most unwilling court jester.#Penelope being introduced by her crying about how much she 'hates this song'.#And Telemachus is the goodest lad. The OG protag to set about on his heroes journey.#He is kind! He is soft! He yearns for adventure and finding out the truth! He wants to get back at his bullies!#He even gets a companion named Mentor. THE original mentor! Who is *totally* not a god by the way. Just a guy.#Not to mention how much Odysseus gets hyped up only for his first appearance to be him sobbing non-stop.#Honestly I was mostly motivated by the need to do research for a personal project but I've been having the best time.#I sincerely doubt my current audience has any overlap with classic Greek literature but expect a few more PD-Odyssey posts.#(Yes - I am familiar with Epic the Musical; this is not fanart of that adaptation).

#I’m a catch!#and I’m so not interested in anybody who wouldn’t demonstrably make my life better in every way #and that involves not being afraid of me or the idea of romance/marriage in general #and if you are afraid it just isn’t interesting or attractive enough for me #there was a boy a few years ago and tbh I think he liked me #and I liked him! he was cute he was intense in an endearing way #and he was smart #we argued about Taylor and then the next time I saw him he was like Christmas tree farm is a good song #(it had just come out)#and he never did anything about it and then he moved away and that is totally fine #and I wish him well.#but the crush was killed by the simple fact that he never liked me enough to say it #like truly and with all (non-romantic) love; go with God #at that point lol #that said I have never wanted marriage or children as an abstract concept #so it makes it much easier to think along these lines #it would be so devastating to want it so badly and not get it!#but I can’t even imagine summoning the desire for it in an abstract sense #I’ll meet someone and love them and then that will lead to marriage and possibly children #or I won’t #but both roads look about the same to me in terms of desire #or any desire big enough worth mentioning #not talking about the whispers or the daydreams that do sometimes intrude #but yeah I don’t think full desire would come until there was a person #and there might not be! There are currently only 3 BGM tracks that feature vocals. Two of these tracks are unnamed and unreleased, but sung by main/major characters. Kohane sings a solo song in Kick it up a notch, and Taiga sings a solo song in Light Up the Fire.

One of these tracks is quite unusual. It was featured in the RE:START from Here! event and was released on the first OST under the title Nijiiro Garland (see video at the top of post). The singer is not a named character (it's sung by the idol that inspired Airi when she was a child), and the voice actor also goes uncredited. It's unknown why this is the only instance of an unnamed character singing a BGM track, let alone being the only instance of a vocal BGM track for over two years until the Kohane song was used.

#project sekai #restart was one of the first events worked on #in nayutalien's interview he said he was commissioned when they had barely anything to tell him and basically just after the project had #entered the actual development stage. he wasn't even given a story for the event which is why MJM doesn't link to it #also the song mentions fragment of feelings in the lyrics. nayutalien made that up bc there was nothing in the game with that name yet lol #so maybe in these very very early stages they were going to have more vocal bgm tracks and then scrapped it

just went and listened to the usum version of ghetsis’ battle theme and it’s actually got me feeling like this image

like. you mentioned the whips cracking. you didn’t mention the way it sounds like pure bloodlust. i don’t know what it is about it but it sounds like sheer hatred and evil. it doesn’t even sound like a pokémon boss theme. it sounds like the song itself is trying to kill me. and like it could. this is a ghetsis theme with a PUNCH to it. i am viscerally uncomfortable just listening. and i LOVE it. what on earth did they put in it. that is the definitive version of his theme now

IT'S SUCH A GOOD THEME. They somehow manage to make it sound more threatening than the original which is a feat. And it fits so well with the context being that this Ghetsis won in the world he came from. The song itself just sounds cruel, it's perfectly fitting for the version of him who succeeded in conquering Unova.

Just everything about it fills you with this sense of dread that you got from the original but it feels so much more intense here. Every time I listen to it, it makes my skin crawl, it's so great.

#thanks for the ask <3 #come join me in “ghetsis' usum theme is the superior ghetsis theme” land #it takes what makes the original so intimidating and then crank it up to eleven #it's not even mimicking arceus' theme anymore and it's still so scary #putting this in the tags because i'm rambling and being less coherent here #like i mentioned in my response #the song itself sounds cruel and it does share that trait with the original #but like you said this one has a punch to it #along with being fitting for the ghetsis that was able to win #it's so fitting of the cruelty that that goes along with being able to commit the acts needed to get to that point #and that includes maybe killing n #idk it just becomes all the more terrifying on top of everything else when you think about what had to be done #for ghetsis to get what he wanted #truly a theme fitting for someone willing to kill children and to kill his own son in a heartbeat if it could benefit him #it sounds so evil and if he *did* kill n if he did all the things he needed to do to win #then it makes sense #a more evil sounding song for a version of ghetsis #who did much eviler things to get where he is #gaaahhh sorry for rambling i just think about ghetsis in usum a lot

austin should just never say what vibe a season is going for ever again because i keep seeing people referencing him talking about palisade as a hopeful season (as something they're aiming for, at least) & well. how it didn't really shake out that way. people including me btw i have thought about this many a times (probably most during the questlandia game post Oh-You-Know-What happening!)

edit: where tf did he even say that because it was not the playlist thing like i thought. unless i just missed it 3 times
