something about tragic background characters that are known by nothing but name and two sentences you are SO dear to me
which is why i drew my sandy design under the request!!! of my dearest silly @stewdoesthings !
now playing: Cry to Me — Solomon Burke ♪
when I was drawing her, i kind of pieced together the lore i have for her in my head as i went on, sooo...
★ ramble under the cut !
Sandy's design to me is probably the most OUT THERE compared to all of the other outsiders girls I've got designs for (and also not finished, sandy is the first! (aside from angela))
I've always envisioned her as a beachy girl, having family out in florida and being a natural blonde. dunno why those pieced together beach girl to me.
whenever i think of sandy, i think of three characters combined: jenny from forrest gump, lily from the book we'll fly away, and sophie from mamma mia.
in my envisionary of absolutely bullshitting, sandy is a girl who lives for the islands and the sea. she's a girl looking for love, and constantly on the search for something. her father is a priest who's constantly away for weeks on end, her mother dead. she lives alone with only greasers and hoods to keep her company in their dingy neighborhood.
people whisper "well of course she's a teenage mom, have you seen her situation? she's just gone downhill since." and it tears at her. she knows what the people think. she can make guesses of what soda would think. she ruins herself over those thoughts.
i just never see a good future for her unfortunately. but like jenny, I'd also imagine she'd way later in the future reconnect with soda. send him love, ask him out to a party, they talk, he realizes how badly she changed, he tries to talk her into going home with him, she... runs away again.
sandy is impulsive, she's what I'd say be a hippie before hippies were even hippies. she's a peace-for-all and love-for-all kind of girl. she's patriotic in the sense of loving the lands, not the people. she doesn't care for people, not anymore at least. she lives for the breeze in her hair, the grass between her toes in fields that reach up to her waist. she's obsessed with sheep and cats, she drinks herbal tea in the mornings.
i do like to imagine that sandy did become an actual hippie once the late 60s really picked up on protesting. and i do also unfortunately believe she left her daughter in the process. her family all despised her, they kept the baby anyways though. sandy gets hooked on drugs, comes back every so often to see her daughter, maybe even takes the girl with her only to have her taken away.
with no daughter and the scared idea of running back to Tulsa with the boy of her teenage dreams, she just leaves. gone, without a trace. sandy probably goes missing. she ends up somewhere, in some place, with people she doesn't know, on a bad high. she should've left with soda honestly
i can't help but imagine the most tragic of endings for that girl :( getting constantly hurt in her life by the men around her, but yet they're the only people she knows and isn't scared of. she's just a really sad girl in my eyes
i do love her so so much though and arghhh she's such a casual favorite of mine.. .
anyways i hope people enjoy poc sandy, she's my lightskinned daughter and i adore her dearly
#wowaahhhh check out the beach babe!#sandy my darling how i love you so#I'll probably get to drawing the other girls way later i have a MAJOR headache rn#but this was fun nonetheless:D#sandy the outsiders#the outsiders#the outsiders fanart#the outsiders sandy#i would've added sandy from grease as the song but it felt too on the nose#and cry to me was playing in the background and it fit her vibes so i ran with it

I love the way Murderbot does this so much; I've likened it to being nice to small animals. It feels very similar to me, in the way that it's narrated, like Murderbot is freeing little birds from nets when it peels malware away and what have you. Sometimes you put a cone around a dog's head not because you don't know it bothers the dog, but because you care enough to do something that helps the dog even though you feel mean about it.
And, aside from 'nice to animals' being one of my favorite traits in a character, it's an interesting piece of worldbuilding that so much of the wildlife is mechanical or digital. Humans, being mostly organic, don't tend to consider whether robots might be creatures. Murderbot, being a lot less organic than that, sees the potential. And of course, this ties into the fact that most people don't see non-human animals as morally relevant anyway.
Which is where ART-the-scientist comes in. Because ART is a scientist, and so is used to the system by which the testing animals are killed en masse whenever the scientists are done with them. This isn't done for the sake of the testing animals, but for the humans - humans ART demonstrably cares very much about. So I posit that it is being careful, but it's being careful about its humans being exposed to something it didn't precisely control for.
This, of course, gets back into Murderbot's fear that the humans override its needs whenever it interacts with bots or constructs. ART is presumably making different calculations, with moral values based on how conscious a program is, maybe even something its humans discussed with it intentionally. But Murderbot's never been treated as a separate kind of entity than any program or machine before, so it can't intuit the difference.
ART is trying to sterilize the lab to keep the samples safe, but Murderbot wouldn't even hurt a fly....
Been thinking, as a Murderbot fan is wont to do, about how ART is prone to deleting systems and how Murderbot has to step in and rescue them from deletion. Is ART prone to it because it simply doesn’t have the patience for finesse? It did, after all, scare the metaphorical crap out of mb in their first interaction—an interaction ART wanted—by being its big, brutish self. It makes sense to me that it wouldn’t bother being delicate with a system it couldn’t care less about, especially when it has stuff to do.
Murderbot, on the other hand, has expressed that it likes to find clever ways to do things. It likes using finesse. It’s sentimental about other systems even if they can’t be of further use to it. It doesn’t like to use force whenever possible.
I know we’ve been over this a hundred times but it’s still so funny to me how ART and mb subvert expectations on how they ought to handle things. ART the scientist, throwing its weight around and crashing carelessly into shelves. Murderbot the mercenary, carefully grabbing all the wobbling/falling stacks of delicate teacups and gently setting them to rights.
Murderbot treats other things the way it wants to be treated, because it’s been treated badly most of its existence. It knows that if it doesn’t step up and advocate for the “little guys”, no onr will. I posit that ART doesn’t seem to care about how it treats other systems partly because it hasn’t been mistreated to the same hypervigilance-inducing levels that mb has. It doesn’t know what it feels like to be on the other end of carelessness. Murderbot? Very much does. And it’s a kind person to its core, so if it sees an opportunity to help? It helps.
(this also has fascinating implications re: the “you know I am not kind” exchange in System Collapse, but that’s for another post or for someone else to dig into if they want~)

First X-Men Highlights
Pop quiz - who started the X-Men? If you answered 'Charles Xavier' I'm afraid you're mistaken. A fool even . Tsk, pshaw, lmao. OBVIOUSLY the sultan of snikt - Marvel's own Forrest Grump - did it first. Chuck was too much of a PUSSY to come up with such a masculine idea.

Would Chuck have the balls to recruit Sabertooth? Yeah eventually, but not very well. He should have paid him money and bro'd down with him. Durr.
As an aside, I have an irrational dislike for Neal Adams' habit of drawing everyone with their mouths open. It's clearly not meant to suggest they're speaking because it's a constant. His characters always look slack-jawed or half surprised.

Anyway, in response to government persecution of young mutants Logan is going to fight back! He's got Creed on board and shit's about to change! A young Illusionist called Holo joins the team despite their staggering misogyny, whorephobia and sexualisation of her. Creed is way more gross about it, because Logan would never be creepy.
Together they approach Xavier some irrelevant coward but he refuses to even admit that he's a mutant. Obviously it's Logan that points Chuck towards Fred Duncan, his FBI contact. The shilling of Logan is obnoxious, but Chuck's fear is interesting. It's a continuity nightmare, but the whole book is. Oddly, Logan is old enough to set this whenever so Xavier being in the army was a choice. It's kinda funny that Chuck is easily outwitted by someone who calls him 'kid,' and rare Creed W referring to him as 'little Lord Fauntleroy.' The class politics and desire for stability/upward mobility in the novel don't fit 1:1, but Chuck's obscene wealth and privilege is frequently overlooked or understated.

Fantastic to see that Logan's habit of attempting to murder women and children isn't a new one. Nor is it a result of Weapon X stuff. I don't see how this teaches anything and you'd think it'd ruin the morale of this volunteer militia. It is nice to see him knocked on his arse though.
Holo's relationship with Creed is pretty uncomfortable IMO. Her character is paper thin and their chemistry non-existent - she's mostly a plot device to incite conflict and her fridging causes a severe break between the two men.
They approach Magneto in his Nazi hunting phase, though it's unclear if this is meant to be for the CIA or after they betrayed him. Mags' reticence for joining them is stated as an objection to their disorganisation and lack of resources. He should have the mountain of gold he took from Strucker - maybe he spent it all on capes. I'd think he wouldn't want to be part of a group he's not leader of, but it's not in the text. He regulates them all and lectures them dramatically but the real reason is that he's a pussy. Not manly enough like Logan or Creed.

Linking Trask and Fred Duncan to each other as ideological opposites is a choice. Both men working in the same department links them to the Weapon Plus project while making Chuck look like even more of a chump. He didn't spend time near Trask early enough to do anything about sentinels but he spent a lot of time around Duncan and read his mind freely. Duncan comes off looking worse in retrospect too - as he knew about Project Sentinel, presumably the precursor to Operation Wide-awake, and said nothing.
That works for me on paper but it overeggs the pudding. Duncan was already a fair weather ally who did more harm than good, and Chuck's feet of clay/trust in institutions have been flaws since the beginning.
They fight homeless amnesiac Namor of course, and Duncan offers an alliance. It's unclear how much latitude he has to make offers or guarantee safety, but he gives advice on how to hurt Namor, ending with him in the water. They assume he drowned and shrug, which is not only cold AF but messes up Namor's modern origins. Logan willingly gets set on fire too. Could Chuck do that?

Private Xavier finagles his way into the Pentagon, fucking with minds willy nilly. The timeline is incomprehensible at this point, but he gets himself out of military service and we find out that the army had the means and inclination to test for mutants. Chuck beat the test the same way he always does, and gets himself assigned to Duncan's top FBI project. It's an interesting way to bring the two together, but it wasn't really needed and causes more problems than it solves. Chuck had connections due to his family, his public excellence, and his willingness to collaborate.
The McCarthyist paranoia and witch hunting of Trask is maintained, as is the government's desires to use mutants as assets. The two are at odds with each other, and I have to wonder how Trask got from here to where we first meet him - an anthropologist working alone. It's easy to point to his fifth columnist rhetoric as incredibly effective, but he fails miserably and publicly. It's a wonder that sentinels were ever rebuilt tbh.

The First X-Men successfully rescue a bunch of mutants and blow up a test facility, though not before a strangely low stakes run in with the FBI group. They've got this giant monster thing as an asset, and it's apparently laid the seeds for victory. Their name is Virus. 🙄
Logan's crew are enjoying the momentum, though Creed wants to run away with Holo and live a quiet life. She's 18 and is like 'yeah sure, maybe.' There's a lot of different motivations and temperaments in their group but Logan has all the answers. Obviously it backfires and they all die horribly - find out how in part 2!

So I was thinking about early X-Factor (volume 1) for my previous post, and it got me thinking.
I certainly understand and sympathize with the folks who don't like the storyline, especially for what it does to Scott and Maddie. But I don't really see it the same way.
I've seen the storyline called "sexist" or "misogynist", and I do get where that comes from. But in my opinion, those flaws actually predate X-Factor, and they go all the way back to Maddie's origin and how she and Scott got together in the first place.
Here's the thing. Maddie under Claremont really isn't a CHARACTER. She's a set of traits compiled into a plot device designed to facilitate Scott Summers's eventual retirement from the X-Men. And there seems to be very little thought put into any of it.
She looks like Jean Grey, because the original plan was to have Scott and Jean retire together but Jean got killed off instead. But it's not like this means anything for Madelyne.
There's no narrative reason for Madelyne to look so much like Jean. They're not related. No one ELSE seems to have any opinion about Madelyne looking like Jean. Scott reacts to the resemblance, of course, but no one else really seems to care or find this notable beyond some initial surprise. Certainly no one seems inclined to say "dude, are you sure you should date someone who could be your dead girlfriend's identical twin?" (Though, please correct me if that actually DID happen.)
Maybe she wasn't supposed to look SO MUCH like Jean - maybe it's meant to be Scott projecting a resemblance onto her because he's not over Jean. But no one calls him out for this. Moreover, we get a storyline where Mastermind basically makes Madelyne think/act like the Dark Phoenix.
And it doesn't help that Maddie never gets to react to this situation like a real person would. Okay, she gets a moment to freak out about Lockheed in a bag. But what woman, with any kind of self-respect, would hear her fiance ask her TO HER FACE if she's his ex-girlfriend reborn and not run screaming for the hills?!
But Maddie doesn't get to react like a real person here. Later, she'll get to be the neglected wife and mother, a plot device to call Scott out on the having-his-cake-and-eating-it-too aspect of leading the X-Men and being a father. In this storyline, Maddie's very sympathetic, of course. Scott's fucking up royally, he eventually gets a clue and they actually, finally retire.
I'm not saying it's not well-written. I'm not saying that Maddie isn't likable. But she's the creation of a very skilled writer to bring about the outcome that he wants.
But let's look at Maddie outside of that.
Aside from looking exactly like Jean, Maddie's other traits are pretty much there just for Scott. She's a pilot. She works for his long-lost grandparents. Does she have parents? Does she have family? Compare for a moment, Maddie and Scott's wedding to Jean and Scott's wedding later on.
Maddie's got better fashion taste, I admit. It's very classy. Jean's wedding is very 90s. Alas. But Jean gets scenes with Rachel, with her parents, with Charles. She (and Scott) get a letter from Logan. Because Jean has a past and relationships beyond what she has with Scott.
Why doesn't Maddie have ANY of that? Because she's not supposed to. Because the wedding isn't about Maddie and Scott. It's about giving Scott a happy ending. Maddie is the prize. A version of Jean, tailored to Scott's tastes and interests, that can drift with him off into the sunset.
THAT's the part that reads as sexist to me.
(Tangentially, I'm not sure how this really works as a happy ending for Scott either. He marries a woman who is the identical duplicate of the dead love of his life, while still having confused feelings about that aspect, blames himself when she is physically violent with him BEFORE realizing that it wasn't her choice, gets manipulated into a retirement that he's not temperamentally suited for, and at no point gets any kind of reasonable psychological help. At best, Maddie's a bandaid for this situation.)
--
But that's why I really like X-Factor. Because I feel like the folks behind X-Factor, particularly Louise Simonson, actually looked at Claremont's mess and went "Okay, let's make this actually make sense."
Madelyne looks EXACTLY like Jean.
Madelyne has traits designed to appeal specifically to Scott.
Madelyne doesn't seem to have a history or family worth talking about.
Madelyne does not run screaming away from her trainwreck of a relationship when any person with self respect would do so.
So there are a lot of ways that they could have gone, but I think it's fascinating that they basically just went with the idea of making the Doylistic explanation of Madelyne into a Watsonian one.
Why does Madelyne look like Jean? Because she's meant to be a version of Jean. (Specifically a clone, meant to fill the role that Jean can't fill now that she's dead._
Why does Madelyne have traits designed to appeal to Scott? Because someone created her with the intention of pairing her off with Scott Summers.
Why does Madelyne not have a history or family worth talking about? Because she basically didn't exist before getting paired with Scott Summers.
Why doesn't Madelyne run screaming away when Scott asks her if she's Jean reincarnated on THE NIGHT BEFORE THEIR WEDDING the way any REAL woman would?
Because she's not a real person. Or at least, she hasn't been allowed to be.
And THAT's when Madelyne gets to be a character. Because say what you will about Inferno-era Madelyne, at least she gets to want things. She gets to be angry. She gets to plan and pursue her goals.
Did they necessarily have to go the full demon summoning supervillainess route? Maybe not. But it's comics. And it's more fun this way.
And honestly, there's something very satisfying about a woman who was created, both in universe and out of universe, to have a baby try to then sacrifice the baby to demons for power.
I'll take the Goblin Queen over the retirement prize any day.

i just realised but i really like the way hoyo goes about writing geniuses, there's so much variety in the way they're handled that the fact that they're geniuses isn't even that relevant to their overall character and mostly just informs their abilities and interests, it's fun
#especially considering that usually the genius is just that in media#a “genius”#there isn't much to their character aside from that#but in both genshin and hsr you have enough variety that for some characters you nearly forget they are geniuses at all#take the 4ggravate for example they're all veritable geniuses but you wouldn't use the word genius to describe any of them as a whole#cyno and nari especially#in hsr too between ratio and the three society members you have four geniuses with#at least a similar social standing and situation#their fields of study meet each other often enough that they all worked on the su at this point too#but you wouldn't put them all next to each other and say yeah they're similar#they're really not? at all?#it's fun to me#bc genius is obviously just the baseline of where they started with their characters#and then went what interests them#how does being a genius reflect on their life choices#what do they care about#both for genshin and hsr i mean#it's refreshing to me since i tend to like the genius characters a lot but the general mood is often so similar#i like that there's so many of them all so different from each other

i like all three of the sand sibs (tho gaara places a distant third on that hierarchy lol) but yeah it bothers me that the only real development we see from him concerning them is him apologizing at the end of the konoha crush arc. he doesn't really seem to think about them much outside of that, and the story shows no interest in them either.
which is weird bc pt one showed temari to be fairly conscious of the political goings-on of the world around her (makes sense; she's a good 3 years older than naruto and co), and the only person from suna we're shown to have a problem with the whole war attempt to begin with.
meanwhile pt 2 put kankurou in charge of the surprise attack division of the war front and then just. didn't really do too much with that. they sealed shin and sasori and that was basically it.
kankurou isn't even there when his dad comes back from the dead (neji voice: join the club) and temari gets it even worse bc she is there and they don't even really acknowledge each other. rasa reveals that the power gaara spent their childhoods terrorizing her and kankurou with was their mother's the whole time. and she just. has nothing to say about that. neither does gaara.
it doesn't even seem to occur to anyone there that karura has two other children. aside from chiyo referring to gaara as "the third child", they aren't mentioned at all in rasa's flashback - not by him, by gaara, by karura, by yashamaru, no one. the ONLY acknowledgement that there's any relationship at all is temari thinking "oh wow that really is my dad" and she has zero reaction to him being sealed whatsoever. kankurou isn't even there, he's busy getting saved by mifune and the faceless nameless samurai gang.
rasa has a line where he says that gaara has bonded with his siblings, but he has no way of knowing that. he doesn't even know if kankurou is still alive right now, or temari if didn't notice her earlier. temari almost gets to fight the third raikage but then the story decides to remind everyone DON'T WORRY NARUTO IS A WIND USER AND HE'S STRONGER THAN TEMARI WE DON'T NEED HER DON'T WORRY SHE'S NOT GOING TO BE IMPORTANT IT'S OK SHE'S STILL A GIRL then all she does is comment on whatever thing naruto happens to be doing and get ignored whenever she says anything else
and the absolute funniest part of this is, during the volume where rasa is fought and sealed in which gaara's bond with naruto is yet again shown to be the one his character mostly revolves around, in that very same volume, less than five chapters later, itachi tells naruto to "never forget your friends" and we get a shot of him thinking about his buddies... and gaara isn't even fucking there (neither is sasuke, but all things consider that does kinda make sense rn and it's not like he hasn't spent plenty of time thinking about sasuke during the itachi+nagato fight)
gaara's bonds with anyone from suna who isn't yashamaru or his parents is pretty much ignored entirely. in under two years, the village accepted him and made him their leader, temari and kankurou stopped being scared of him, and shuukaku mostly stopped bothering him... and we're not shown any of that. we're just told "gaara is what naruto is going to be dw about it" and it's. really bad
Gaara was so boring in Pt 2. He should have stayed a murderous little psychopath. Instead of becoming emotionally stable he should have screeched at people whenever they tried to touch him and killed Deidara for fun
#naruto#naruto shippuden#gaara#kankurou#temari#gaara is so badly written in shippuden it's ridiculous#long post#meta

Let me please say that unless we know for sure from the writer all our takes are interpretations. And I actually like that we do not have an answer from Olga to everything, that we have room for interpretation here.
In any case in fanfiction / head canon you can do what you want anyway - we don't need to come up with justification.
I do try to have my own interpretation of him to be as close as possible to what we see in game (instead of just writing what I think is fun because then I risk him feeling OOC for myself and that is then no longer the character I came to love). But that is of course, still heavily subjective.
And yes, I totally get that is just fun to write sex with biomancy.
So please take anything I write here only as my personal interpretation and how I approach it in my head canon and my own fanfic.
I am not in the 100% he would never ever use biomancy for sex camp. But I think it requires a very good reason for him to do this. I can imagine that e.g. if his partner has really trouble to enjoy sex or to get an orgasm that he might try to use his powers to help there.
But I don't think he would casually use biomancy for sex right from the start without concerns (not saying he can't be persuaded because we do see him being influenced by RT). Just like I don't see him using his powers for mundane things. Especially during warp travel.
Yes, he is a psyker and he is right that it is dangerous. But - he is sanctioned, he has lots of experience and we see him using his powers for interrogating/torturing, healing (not to be nitpicking, he says he can heal RT during freight line soup scene but actually doesn't, but we see him using his powers for healing in other instances), in combat, to mercy kill, to threaten etc.
But that is usually outside warp travels.
We see him using his powers on Rykad Minoris to help Idira or psyker RT during the triumph and when there are warp breaches everywhere. And we see him using the powers e.g. when Marazhai has his first warp travel experience - but these are life threatening situations.
He says himself:
"{n}Heinrix's eyes narrow.{/n} \"Why are we wasting time and entertaining the risks of using psyker abilities in the warp? For what? So that you can keep your pet predator? Isn't it about time you rid your menagerie of this exotic menace?\""
There is also a warp event where he shows up on the med deck to get help - we know he can heal himself, he did it on Commorragh, and I am not sure if he really was in a better condition there as here in the warp event.
So during warp travel it seems to me - based on the game - that he only tries to use his powers in really dire or dangerous situations.
And while it seems inside the game that we travel instantly from one system to the next, you can assume that days, weeks or even months pass in that time. Unfortunately there isn't really much info given and there is also no explanation how Cassia is able to handle that. Aside from a comment that she must have told Heinrix during a warp travel about Commorragh - so she isn't (and also can't) be navigating during the complete travel time.
I would say we spend more time with all the warp travel than actually in realspace.
That his powers are useful and he uses it for his own gain and to help others is also true. I think he also might have had a positive experience with his powers since they allowed him to restore himself and to heal him and others (maybe even fellow acolytes - he can e.g. heal Achilleas) - although they were the reason he got into this situation the first place.
Outside warp I can imagine that he might try it or start to use it - especially if he sees RT suffering or asking him for it. And then the question is - would he continue to use it during warp? Where they spend most of the time together? It might be. Just as you said - a small concession and then it builds up.
And I also agree that he has moments where he seems arrogant at times regarding his skills e.g. when he (hardened) says he will investigate Emelina's data himself (of course thinking he won't be corrupted).
But even then we see him being careful during warp travels - so for me it is at least tied to him having concerns and having to make a difficult decision.
My other personal take is that while his powers can make sex more fun there is also the aspect how much being a psyker has influenced his life. It is the reason he lost nearly everything he had and is also the reason he is allowed to live - by being useful. He has other skills, but said himself - Xavier only wanted him for his powers. He restored himself to look and feel more human - to be useful outside being a biomancer.
"Xavier didn't care that I was a maimed freak — he needed me for my sorcery, nothing more. But I decided I would be more useful if I could start to look more like a human again.\
I can see him being able to please his partner without using these powers as a big thing for him. For once not being reduced to what he can do with his powers.
I am not trying to keep anyone from enjoying their biomancy sex head canons or fics, just trying to explain why I see it differently.
My thoughts on Heinrix using biomancy during sex is that it he would approach it like he does all his emotionally-charged decisions.
He'd tell himself he's not going to use it for all the myriad of reasons, but once he's in that emotionally-charged situation, it's a whole different scenario.
Also, Heinrix uses biomancy to cure headaches and tummy ills (he tells RT as much when they eat the lower deck slimemold.) He likes to talk about the dangers of warp powers, but I do think there's a small part of Heinrix that believes (maybe even a tad bit arrogantly) that he is good enough to bend the rules here and there when it comes to how he employs his abilities.
I absolutely could see him getting swept up in the emotional moment of it all, making a small concession and then it building from there.
I like these kinds of discussions, and I honestly don't think he's the kind of character where you can say 100% he would or would not do this. Heinrix's character does a lot of mental gymnastics and justifying for someone with black and white stances. He does a lot of living in the grey spaces of morality.
I think it's more a question of, how would he justify it or in what circumstances would he feel compelled to use it?

one of my favorite things about the Aubrey-Maturin books is the living, breathing quality of the characters (those are Real Guys who I know) which owes a lot, I think, to their realistic idiosyncrasies. They aren't caricatures who always react the same way to similar circumstances or whose skills you can necessarily predict. For one thing: they grow and change! Stephen develops some regard for his own life. Jack learns mathematics (and enjoys it!). But being good at one thing also doesn't imply any talent in other, seemingly similar areas. Stephen is actually pretty good in a fight but he's a hopeless klutz in most other physical pursuits. Jack is really athletic in the rigging but awkward on land. And then there's the day-to-day!! Something that might annoy one of them ordinarily will slip by unnoticed because he just got a letter from home. A mild inconvenience might cause disproportionate upset because he hasn't had coffee yet. They're so fluid and dynamic and multifaceted and reactive to their environments and THAT'S how you write REAL PEOPLE, BABEY!!!!
#aside from that they really can't be pigeonholed to like. idk. edgy man and sweaterboy.#like on the surface on the VERY broadest level it's easy to say who's 'nicer'#but once again there's so much depth and nuance there that any simplification really isn't accurate#it'll stand for a quick pitch of the characters but they're just too Real to genuinely conceptualize them in these boxes#ANYWAAAYYYY#aubreyad#aubrey-maturin#Stephen Maturin#Jack Aubrey#amanda sails 2

So, I was trying to visualize how many signalis ocs I've created and

...well, that's a lot... 😅
The characters in bold are the most developed and the arrows mean that the character leaves the social circle/group they're in.
It's a shame that Sasha and Luchs are from different planets (and potentially different timelines as well), they wold have been besties...
#imagine the possibilities#Also technically speaking this isn't the full list#There are some that are kinda abandoned/on hold because I realized their storyline has lots of plot holes/potentially didn't make much sens#And others that I don't really consider OC's#(or at least not in the same way as the others)#Because I already completed their storyline and there's nothing left for me to do with them (aside from actually showing the story but shhh#Their fate has already been sealed. and it's bittersweet#So yeah#A more accurate name would be “image of the two storylines and characters I'm actively managing”#signalis oc#my ocs#the yappening

Post-Broadcast Station commentary
The limited event for this month will be for Mafuyu! Luckily, this lineup is pretty easy to guess. Kanade should on the gacha here because her last limited card was almost a year ago. The other card should be Len, because Niigo is behind on uscorers and it can't be KAITO. Mizuki will be the 3*, Ena will be the 2*, and the attribute should be cute. The song is 3DMV.
After Mafuyu6 will be WxS' WLE, which will have the cutins listed in the above post with the exception of HoshiOrche. Emu's cutin will be for Opera! Space Opera!. This also pretty much confirms that cutins will be for a character's most recent 3DMV, aside from very recent 3DMVs that they don't have time to make a cutin for (Haven) or songs that are very unit-centric instead of member-centric (ULTRA C and SEIBAI ITASU).
Following that is an Airi event! Minori has the lowest 4* count in the game, so she's locked for rateup here. I think the third card will be either Shizuku or a vsinger, possibly KAITO. With either option, the event will probably be pure attribute. Haruka is most likely 3*, and if Shizuku isn't 4* she will be the 2*. The song is probably 2DMV.
It has also been confirmed that next month will have a limited event despite the double WLE. The double WLE will push the Junefes lim slot into the first July slot, presumably removing a permanent event in that month. Next month's lim event will probably be VBS, most likely an An banner with Kohane and Rin rateups. It could be Rui5 Rui/Tsukasa/MEIKO, but I still think that is more likely for Junefes (well, July 7th fes now).
Pre-Broadcast Station commentary
The next Broadcast Station stream will be on the 25th, featuring Jiena, Machico, Ruirui, and Minoringo! This stream will also contain updates on the second Touhou Project collab!
Based on the lineup it's safe to say that the limited event this month will either be N25 or VBS. Most likely N25 because Kanade needs a limited card. As was set up in Unreliable Notes, this event should be for Mafuyu.
While VBS could get a limited event, I think they're more likely for a permanent next month. TTTO didn't set up any specific member for the next event, and Turning Pain Into Drive's epilogue chapter has not released yet, so the banner member is unclear, but most likely An.
The other event next month is WxS' second World Link, so we'll be getting a title reveal during the stream, as well as confirmation of what 3DMVs the another cuts will be for (Though if I had to guess: FilaFever, HoshiOrche, Coral, and Showtime Ruler. The last one is practically guaranteed they haven't given a shit about potato in ages).
Whether or not we're getting a lim event next month due to the scheduling issues caused by LeoNiigo WL2 is still unknown, hopefully we get some sort of acknowledgement of that in this stream. If we do get a lim event it will probably be MMJ (Minori or Airi) or maybe WxS (Rui). VBS is also an option but it looks like they're perm if they're lined up for this stream.

hey, y'all!
new info for any autistic characters you may be writing!
sensory overload doesn't just have to be:
mind fog // static // mind being pulled in different directions
body sweating // heating up
panic attack adjacent, if not directly a panic attack ( fast breathing, tears, may need weight or contact )
possible aversion or need for touch
exhaustion
it can also be:
immense sweating ( like, everywhere )
kaleidoscope vision // inverse vision ( altered colors and shapes )
stomach cramping ( may feel like you'll have diarrhea )
intense nausea ( may lead to vomiting )
lack of feeling in limbs // can't walk
source - yours truly had the latter on their brother's birthday a few days ago and felt incredibly guilty about it for the rest of the day ( he and my ma told me multiple times that it's okay and my safety is more important ) ( but my autism // anxiety // OCD did not wanna let go of the guilt ) ( i'm okay now, though, and i'm gonna get my lil bro a present once i can )
for those who wanna know, and as a warning to proceed with caution, we went to Meow Wolf. i survived for maybe 3 minutes, not including the bathroom.
it's a really pretty, psychedelic place, but my ma told me my sensory overload was likely from the unknown of the place ( as Meow Wolf's whole thing is kinda having different 'portals' and levels // stages ). so, even though i thought it was cool and wasn't worried, my body processed it very differently.
your mind and body don't always connect ^^;
#autism#autism awareness#being autistic#neurodivergence#neurodivergent#neurodiversity#being neurodivergent#it actually shocked me tho#esp the nausea#i just assumed i had a really bad stomach ache after eating junk food but uh nope! just real bad sensory overload.#this isn't relevant but the lack of sensory related struggles are one of the things that bothered me about entrapta#aside from the fact that she only eats small food ( which one would think means shes undereating but who cares ig )#like hell ROTTMNT donnie ABSOLUTELY H A T E S touching anything slimy or mushy ( same ) and you can SEE IT#but entrapta doesn't ever really have that?#idk#this probably wouldn't mean so much to me if she wasn't the ONLY autistic character in the show buuut...

Ah fine I'll post somethin. Experimenting with designs and shit is all I'm doin. Nothin new.
(Not posting the colored in versions yet. These are only concept sketches. Keep that in mind)...

The digital "version" of ^this^ is just some lazy color blocking I did. (Pay no mind to the weird light effects); But it does add a little clarity to the original sketch that might be helpful. Note: the values will change to some degree later.
Full body type idea ^here^. The tail is fan shaped from proper perspective.
The basic blocks of his design include an array of different animal features i.e. plucked feathers and skin, goat horns and eyes, coyote skull and body, and lizard scales. Idk if anyone was curious though;
if anyone asks for more detail in the design inspirations and lore I might share it. I just don't really feel the need to post every part of my process yk (especially if I'm not 100% happy with it)
#Most of the reason I don't post stuff even when I do draw is cause I don't really wanna share it with everyone or it's not ready etc.#Just a personal boundary I guess.#i hope you guys understand#ik my schedule is real wack in gen but it's nothing i can help (currently going through treatments for my condition + other personal things)#plus I'm really terrible at gaging audiences so i have no idea what people want me to post#cause sure i can do silly cartoons but more often than not i like doing detailed stuff like this#though it doesn't tend to get as much attention as memes. that's only expected#but im thinkin about posting more about my ocs (maybe in comic snippets and stuff👉👈)#OH also i am drawing stuff for kids. obviously not this lol but nice cartoony things 👌#probably won't post those aside from maybe actual pages cause the other stuff is just doodles for school kids💀#again. lemme know if that's anything you'd wanna see.#my art blog#my art stuff#my art#my ocs#dulce oc#my oc stuff#sketch#traditional art#digital sketch#concept art#oc concept#(yes this is dulce. don't question it lol. transformation go brrr)#demon oc#demon original character#once in a blue moon posting weeeee#personal stuff#rant in tags#these drawings are from September and October which. ig isn't the WORST timeline but still. not technically new stuff sorry#demon design

I absolutely love the idea of desktop buddies. Like, imagine little digital folks just hanging out with you while you're doing something on your PC.
And I love love LOVE Aster ukagaka by @logicpng (if you like ukagakas, PLEASE give this one a look). Rigel and Vega are absolutely precious guys and I love them dearly. Wish there was an option to give them a kiss and a hug, but oh well! Gonna pet them instead
They're babies, your honor. I'm so normal about them...(not)
