Do you vibe with crossovers?

Cause an idea that's been wedged in my head has been (yandere!batfam) neglected!reader who was sent to either twisted wonderland or the devildom. Like I genuinely don't think the bats would stand a chance against that reader.

Let’s face it, both RAD and NRC, whether alone or combined, are too powerful for the Bats. If they want to see you again in Gotham then they will need to have the issues sent to other heroes and vigilantes in order to establish a connection (they’ll call it diplomatic approach too). 

If the reader was sent to Devildom and then the bats automatically lost. The DC universe has their own demons, angels, and gods but the thing is those entities aren’t a part of the game. You left Gotham as a normal human and you came back as a master of seven powerful demons and possibly a harem leader to powerful beings too. At least Obey me wise, you’re the one of the most powerful humans to exist. 

I just can see Batman working with Constantine even though he doesn’t like Constantine. On the Constantine note btw, I can see him making an enemy of the whole Devildom because of his crimes. He’d be like Solomon but the criminal version. OM! Ensemble will keep you in Devildom, not because they don’t like the bats. It’s because hell is much safer than Gotham. 

Twisted wonderland wise, you don’t need Malleus to fight the bats to keep you at 

NRC. Batman and the bats study their enemies first before fighting them and it’s going to take them years to study everyone, not to mention not everyone has their unique magic yet (at least not all first years don’t have it yet). Riddle’s unique magic will not work on Bats sure but what about the other Twisted wonderland characters? Leona alone is already too powerful and let’s not underestimate Cater too. In the events of yandere! Batfam trying to get MC back, Cater can just make a clone and trick them all. 

I feel like Batfam will try to fight dirty and show Twisted wonderland the truth about the seven being villains. While the NRC is having a breakdown, they can come and snatch you home, easy peasy. Crowley can try and hand you back to the bats because he’s easy like that but the others will fight back. General Lilia might come back, Crewel will have a verbal showdown with everyone and you know what, let’s just have Malleus make the whole DC universe go to sleep so you can live a good life.

Dmc 3 Dantes design is AMAZING in a storytelling aspect but does NOT work outside of dmc3 AND I’M SICK OF SEEING IT USED IN CROSSOVER MEDIAS !!!!!!

Long ass yap under cut

Dante has always been one for over the top outfits and designs. In the dmc1 novel one of the first sentences is talking about how Dante is flamboyant. At the end of dmc3 we see he has his dmc1 outfit on with all the layers and vest and everything. NOT shirtless.

At the start of dmc3 bro was getting out of the shower, like you hear the water and the shower faucet. You see the water droplets and steam coming off of Dante. And when he answers the phone he says the shop isn’t open yet. Dude was having a lazy day.

Dante did not have time to put on a shirt, he wasn’t planning on going out anywhere or doing anything, he was just eating pizza and chilling. I see SO MANY people (including cannon media like the dmc3 manga) just assume he regularly does not wear a shirt…. like he does! he just didn’t have time to put one on before Arkhams bitchass showed up with his demons.

Don’t even get me started on those pants…. light brown has never been a part of Dante’s color scheme so light brown pants definitely seem weird right? Also he had no belt despite clearly needing one.

Like look at this render, you can see how far his hip is from his pants. He probably just threw on some old pair without thinking about it. And with no belt too, every other version of Dante has at LEAST one belt. So seeing Dante in light brown pants, alone with no belt is definitely strange.

Yet it WORKS SO WELL for the overall design in 3. Reducing the amount of black in his color scheme to better focus on the red and establish him as a much lighter character compared to Vergil ties in perfectly with the dark reflection trope Vergil and Dante play into.

The most iconic thing about Dantes design has always been that red coat. No argument there. So taking away the rest of Dantes more extravagant parts of his design to better focus on the coat is perfect especially for dmc3. Another thing that ties back into the dark reflection trope of Dantes and Vergil is that cutting down on Dantes design makes Vergil and Dantes personalities reflect in their designs so much more. Vergil is very well kept, with a much more complicated outfit and slicked back hair. So Dante being the opposite of that with a lack of shirt, pants that don’t match, no belt, etc. (while still being flamboyant with that red coat) shows their differences in maturity.

You look at this guy and you KNOW he put so much time and effort into his look. He exudes elegance and effort. Meanwhile Dante’s just thrown on a coat and called it a day.

My point is. This design is great for the storytelling aspect of dmc3 as well as the symbolism and metaphors in dmc3. However, we know Dante doesn’t usually dress like this. He wears shirts. So I get personally annoyed when I see Dante portrayed as that one dude who never wears a shirt. I head cannon that around the shop when he has nothing planned he won’t wear a shirt (saves money on the water bill cuz less laundry) but if he plans to go out or have the shop open or whatever, he’s putting on the full fit. Shirt, belt, coat, and plenty of other accessories.

Also here’s the second paragraph from the dmc1 novel cuz I just love how he’s described not only as flamboyant but also adorned with a lot of jewelry:

One of the things I like to do sometimes is imagine the canon - any canon - as the fanfic, with all the tropes and changes that implies, and try to imagine what the notional canon of that would be.

And one of my many fic ideas is a little write up of what the notional canon for what was the 'source media' for Worm would be. It's actually a crossover between three things:

a novel centered around Eidolon and the Triumvirate, includes Scion and the Endbringers,

a fairly dark, aimed at like college-aged people graphic novel series about New Wave (and especially Amy and Vicky) that really delves into how fucked up having superhero parents and them being open about it could really be (like what Worm/Ward canon does with them),

and a cartoon about the Undersiders that's like, aimed at 12-15 year olds. And it would get a little more serious with each season, as the initial audience got older or something. Though obviously not as much as Worm canon did. Vaguely 'saturday morning cartoon network superman/batman/etc' vibes perhaps.

And the idea would be that Worm is a crossover fic between all three media, taking bits and pieces of all three and combining them into one surprisingly cohesive fanfic world.

And the Undersiders cartoon idea just really sticks with me.

Like, I envision the Undersiders cartoon being about them as like, friendly neighborhood supervillains, they rob sure, but it's mostly harmless and they usually go up against supervillians (like sanitized versions of Bakuda and Lung) most of the time in their robberies anyway.

Coil could still be their boss, but he'd be played for laughs, probably regularly exasperated in a comedic way by the Undersiders antics. Armsmaster would the hapless superhero who keeps trying to bring the Undersiders in but eventually has to accept they're not actually that bad (because of course that would be an arc of the cartoon, them becoming heroes of a sort).

I have this image of Piggot being a police captain or something that keeps having to not prioritize the Undersiders or something, and at one point she lectures and scolds them like a principal. Just seems like a funny mental image and fitting for the medium/genre/target audience there.

The show would start with Taylor joining the team. There'd probably be a lot more chance of the Trio getting punished, maybe near the end of the first season, and some of what they do would be toned down. Sophia being a hero who bullies in her civilian life could be kept. Taylor's power would probably not be exploited to the fullest in the cartoon, but I think they could make it work. Rachel couldn't be called Bitch, of course, and Regent and Heartbreaker, etc, would need to be toned down some, but I think you could keep the broad strokes and put it on implication.

Uber and Leet would probably be in the cartoon, and they'd probably be more the mostly fun and friendly version of them some fics paint them as, rather than the jerky assholes who also beat up hookers just for the bit version they are in canon.

I hardly have the whole idea worked out, and the notional fic Idea would probably be like, an outline of the 3-4 season show (and related summaries of the other two media) focusing on what Worm took in from the media and how the 'OG' version differs, etc. All in good fun. No idea if I'll ever write it, but the idea of an Undersiders Cartoon is just an alluring notion that I can't get out of my head.

as of later this month, it will have been 5 years since the original version of this artwork. i'd gotten out of a pretty rough situation, but one of the things that got me through it was a silly little crossover rp turned fanfic with Solar we called The Hec and Jo Show. Solar normally writes Kakujo and i normally write Flux Buddies, so for fun we swapped who wrote who and whatever happened happened.

what happened was that i made an entire PMV about it, just goes to show that you never can tell. or "the KJFB Dreamland PMV".

i knew Solar had the panning shot as their lockscreen, but i was still startled to see it in person half a year later. i kept saying "man, i should redraw that", especially as the years kept going by and my art improved by leaps and bounds, but i was always worried i wouldn't do it justice.

well! i did it. still not sure i did it justice. there's a lot of details about it i don't like, but tbh i was stressing myself out over trying to get it to be Perfect and i did make drastic changes such as "actually drawing fullbodies so you could tell who the characters are out of context" and "looking up a clouds tutorial and bonking my head against it for a couple hours".

oh, right, fun fact. the lettering here is the same images from the PMV-- i still have the layer files, so i grabbed them. i also tried to size it for phones but that might not have worked, but i did discover that like three other people Also had the original as their phone lockscreens. eheh. maybe i should change mine, too.

Welcome to ME DRABBLING ABOUT A NEW AU IDEA "UnderPressure"

As the name states, this will be a crossover of Undertale and Pressure. With playing through the game a few times and reading documents, I thought to come up with this idea before anyone hopefully. This au in particular goes moreso through the pressure story set up but with small twists of my own.

That being Sebastian will still be there to help out and give advice. However its more my version of Sebastian / theories I personally have on the character alone.

With that being said let me give a small hint of the characters...

Crossovers:

Nightmare = Void Mass [ Appearance of half his corrupted self and other more voided mass of tentacles. Dark turquoise instead of purple to fit his negative energy]

Ink = Squiddle [ Has a squid like body covered in ink and dripping paint from his eye sockets. The expressions being different colours when flashed or close by]

Killer = Anglerfish [ Different stages of his soul represent the different variant of Anglerfish that are within the game. A light on his head and black streaks down his face. Gills can be seen on his neck and small scales across his bones. Stage 1. Angler with White Light | Stage 2. Blitz , Fast and hyper with a Blue Light and slowly developing tar like tears | Stage 3. Froger, very fast and more aggressive, has a light brown bulb with more hate pouring out his eyes and can rebound back and forth a few times before leaving. | Stage 4. Mutli-Monster, The highest stage and extremely aggressive, WILL INSTANT KILL and leave 5 seconds to hide. Light shines a DARK RED, hate pouring from eyes and mouth also is very fast. This stage is rare to see...]

Dust = Wall-Dweller [ A sneaky and silent individual who creeps behind the mains. He is seen with no arms, face covered with a metal like plate and hoodie covering most of his body. His back when exposed reveals the many holes and smoky texture as a side effect of the mutation.

Error = p.AI.nter [ Takes form of a computer like AI that has complete control over the Blacksite networks, CCTV footage and other machines including the Turrets. His proper appearance can be seen of him floating with a computer like head when interacting with the main characters trying to help ]

Swap = GoodPeople [ Deranged and mangle of bones kinda like an Amalgamates. Some bones melting into the floor and walls around them like a spider thread. He has a small mask over his face to cover the melting appearance he possesses after the experimentation]

Horror = Eyefestation [ Due to the mutation, his height spikes larger and more creepy with eyes scattering his body and inside the crack he wields on his head. The original eyes, having either completely disappeared or one with the crack. Who knows which one is his real one ]

Cross and Dream as the Protagonists of this AU, being the ones who are running through the facility.

If you have seen X-Men 97, the comics, or the 90s series (not the movies, they are great, but these are more accurate and it makes me so happy), then could you do mutant buddy interacting with the bots (tfp) but they are scared of them due to sentinels, and sometimes have panic attacks or something? Idk. They dont mention they are a mutant due to, well, being a mutant, and their mutant power could be like Gambit's, cabel's, or whoever, maybe even Magneto. It had been a couple weeks since Buddy had gotten the message from their team to split up and stay under the radar.

What better place to lie low than Jasper Nevada.

A place so boring and plain, the perfect place to stay under cover until they are needed again.

…that was until they came across two robots arguing in the middle of the road.

Buddy looking in shock at the two bots arguing. They calmed down a bit seeing that they weren’t Sentinels. Or maybe these were a new type of Sentinels sent to get them. Maybe if they just turned around now…

Bulkhead: “And we wouldn’t be in this mess if we’d just gone that way!” He points in Buddy’s direction and turns to feel the frightened human. Arcee sighs: “Ratchet is not going to be happy about this.”

She starts moving to the human. Buddy feels their heart pounding against their chest. The flashes of the blue bot and the Sentinel start merging. Bulkhead stops Arcee.

Bulkhead: “Let me try.” Arcee: “You? All right, but if things go south, I’m stepping in.”

Bulkhead nods before turning to the human. Buddy is on edge waiting for the first sigh of hostility. To their surprise the large green bot kneels and gives them a warm smile. Definitely not something a regular Sentinel would do. Whoever is making these new bots needs a raise for making them seem harmless.

Bulkhead: “Hey there, I know this has got to be pretty scary right now, but your safe.” Buddy slightly tilts their head in confusion. Bulkhead: “I promise all of this will be explained if you come with us—”

ive been thinking abt your modern au and canon crossover and the obvious answer is that they crossover to the modern world for bodily safety reasons, but i do wonder what happens when the modern peeps pop into the canonverse instead?

they’d LOVE exploring the shops and towns, but if they were alone without the help of the canon group and had to take down a group of monsters they would definitely struggle a lot alskkddk

i think Sky would probably be fine, he is not afraid to throw hands and if you gave him a sword I think he’d do decently well, especially because he’s not all too different from canon LU Sky in terms of build so he’s pretty solid. he’d throw his whole heart into beating the fuck out of some lizards and honestly he’d enjoy the stress relief, it’d be like a rage room for him. He’d make it out of the fight just fine and then have a crisis about 3 days later when the stress finally gets to him and the “what the FUCK” sinks in (he would just need to be able to take his meds with him or he could be screwed)

Twi would probably be okay, he’s a LOT taller in the modern au which would give him a bit of an advantage to swing a sword DOWN on monsters, and he’s also fairly strong so he totally has the physical capability to kick ass, and actually he SHOULD be the one who i think would do the best HOWEVER he’s an anxious mess and unlike canon LU Twi he is not used to fighting for his life, so he’d probably have a breakdown or successfully win a battle and THEN absolutely lose it

yknow i think Modern AU War might do slightly BETTER than his LU counterpart (or at least MY version of his LU counterpart) simply because he has contacts/glasses and my LU War is blind as fuck, so he’d be able to see the field a lot better and have a better idea of where everyone is. and hes a DANCER so he’s had it trained into him to be aware of how far his body is from the moving bodies of other people around him so he doesn’t crash into them, so even if he’s spinning around he’d be able to have a DECENT idea of where the others are in relation to him. (LU War is also good at that but because of how much training he went through as a soldier) Modern AU War would have fantastic aim throwing things, and he can also kick things in the face as long as they’re roughly his height or shorter, and he’s got enough anxiety and rage fueling him that I think he’d successfully help take down all the monsters BEFORE yelling and whining about it

my Modern AU Time would not be able to lift the Biggoron Sword, he also cannot run away and he could get tackled to the ground very easily. He’s got a MUCH different build than LU Time does, but i think he’d do decently well with a bow if someone gave him one. worst case scenario he grabs his cane and starts swinging it like a fucking bat, which is a terrifying sight and he WOULD end up hurting himself. but Twi in the modern au is his kid and I think in a life or death situation Twi would NOT leave his side, so he’d at least have Twi by him to help protect him (also if there was a giant ass portal that showed up on the ranch i do not think Time would walk through it without grabbing a shotgun first. He’s about to give those monsters a taste of something they ain’t ever fuckin seen before, and he’s about to win. the others wouldn’t have to move a muscle if he had that with him, he’d fire all the bullets he had and then whack a bokoblin upside the head with it if there were any left. and then after the fight he’d nod and grumble to himself and complain that he shouldn’t be doing this shit so close to 50 while the others stare at him in a mix of awe and fear)

Hyrule would die immediately I fear (half joking), he has horrible aim, he got destroyed in middle school dodge ball. with his luck he’d throw something and hit Twi

my Modern AU Legend is not super strong nor is he fast but he’s SMART, and i think he could set traps. now whether or not he catches monsters or Four is a completely different story

my Modern AU Wild wouldn’t do super well fighting monsters, he’s kinda in the same boat as Time with the inability to run away, but he’s a Craft Girlie and i think he’d have a lot of fun blowing glitter into monsters’ eyes because he doesn’t go anywhere without his Craft Bag which has a container of glitter in it “for emergencies”

Four has no fear and has a secret absolutely batshit side, i believe he’d scurry up a monsters back and just start hitting it in the head while screaming so the poor thing would be so fucking confused and disoriented

Wind is a soccer player with insane stamina and WAY too much energy at all times and also he’s crazy. give him a full ass sword and he’ll be totally fine, give him a ROCK and he’ll do fine. he’ll use his teeth if he’s gotta, he’s not going down without a fight

i mean... originally i was going to, yeah! the exact moment the first ever trailer dropped (april 30, 2019) i was already enamored with jim carrey robotnik, and ready to accept that even if sonic's design didn't get changed (which, come on, this is hollywood... usually if an adaptation sucks then it sucks til the bitter end. some of us certainly didnt see the redesign coming), this movie would be my cult classic. flop or no flop. ugly or pretty sonic.

i guess because... i saw a lot of myself in the spin jim was putting on the character! eggman had always been the sonic character that fascinated me the most as i played all the mario & sonic crossover games as a kid, but the particular interpretation of this robotnik- flowing black coats with red trim, someone who grew up as a very lonely kid and so now compensates with leaning into the "lone wolf of evil" aesthetic, someone who has a hard time emoting and feels more like machine than a person so compensates with BIG, LOUD THEATRICS, and a BOMBASTIC TONE OF VOICE! i looked at him and i saw me. i know it sounds a little silly and a lot of jimbotnik's traits come from the fact that that's just jim carrey's style of humour and slapstick but he's just always been kinda special to me even from the beginning.

but yknow, then sonic's design gets fixed! exciting! and february 2020 rolls around, the EXCITEMENT is in the AIR. me i was always going to be fine, nothing about rob needed to be fixed, but now people are actually EXCITED for the movie! YAY!! i head into the movie, and robotnik is everything i could have ever wanted and more. he's silly. he's COOL. he has his own DANCE SCENE. but then i keep getting flashbanged by these SCENES where robotnik keeps getting like, really handsy with his little assistant he has? like he's putting his hands in his mouth and telling him to pin himself against the wall? and then this emotionally-constipated MESS of a man shouts "I LOVE THE WAY YOU MAKE THEM???" WHAT? WHAT? WHAT? WAIT WE'RE JUST MOVING ON? ARE WE GONNA GO BACK? NO?! OKAY!!

so obviously im in love with them. with that aspect of the movie. this improvised relationship where both actors asked themselves the question "wait, if robotnik hates humans, why does he keep this one around?" and that question would stick with me for all these 3 movies. it's just so interesting to think about. not to mention how well stone and robotnik just work together as an onscreen duo

but, y'know, then i started really liking the movie's strange, wacky style of storytelling and jokes- i had never seen a cgi animal movie that took the human characters THIS seriously yknow? and by that i mean characters like tom are goofy ofc but it feels like in movies like smurfs they almost want you to not care about the humans, but here, you have stone going from Figurehead for Robotnik's Parade of Black Suits to Guy Who Genuinely Has An Emotional B-Plot In Sonic 3, because of the love fans showed for the character and for how jim carrey and lee majdoub played off each other. even characters like maddie get more in movie 2 because of how tika sumpter said she wanted her character to do more LIKE... LIKE?!

the humour really gets me too, its so strange in a fun way i love. if i was just watching it for rob and stone i wouldnt be watching the knuckles show. ive grown to ADORE the world of the sonic movies, and the actual superpowered animals are cute too! i like their designs, and yknow, this love i have for the sonic movies HAS inspired me to check out more of the games, the shows, the comics, not only to see more of my beloved robotnik (who, yes, i love EVERY version of now. no version of the eggman can escape my love. he is the perfect man) but also to see the other parts of sonic lore because even if it's not like sonic is my fav of all time... i like the storytelling now!!

but stuff like that- my entire lil rant- i think it's why i try not to get gatekeepy when it comes to fandom. because for every series you were there for in the beginning and have an encyclopedic knowledge of, you will have another one where you're only there for a small part or only have a casual enjoyment of. i like to afford other people that kindness because there come times and places when i will be a casual enjoyer of something, and hopefully people will afford that kindness back to me. because even if i do explore other parts of sonic lore and diligently appreciate all parts of the movie, maybe the fact that i'm so robotnik-&-stone centric is still being too much of a casual for some people. maybe i'm only a fairweather fan. even so- even if people think i'm only watching these movies for rob & stone-
