Cold take here; Wu is incredibly overhated. A part of this reason is because a lot of Ninjago fans fail to see any sort of nuance in situations. He could've done better when it came to Morro, but it was Morro's decision to bring back the Preeminent. That isn't Wu's fault. I saw someone say they hated Wu because... he was the reason Jay became evil...? I thought it was very apparent that the Merge wasn't 100% Wu's fault and that it didn't go exactly as planned. It wasn't like Wu wanted Jay to join the administration (and so on). Also it really grinds my gears when people make "I have something to tell you," jokes because 9/10 it's about stuff Wu had a reason to hide from the Ninja. Later on, it was dragged on but the later seasons writing wasn't the best by any means. Justice for Wu.

Your silent ghost Cole au is so interesting to me I’d love to hear more abt it if you wouldn’t mind
Tumblr media
You want to hear about MY AU???? hehehe [brushes hands evil-y]
(TW: Suicide Imagery)
okey so. Silent! Ghost AU is basically:
How would the events of the show play out if Cole is forgotten the moment he turns into a ghost aka he is forgotten the moment he dies?
His “Turning into a ghost” happens way more violently in this scenario. Yang cuts his throat, and hangs him, making it look like a suicide, Cole is disoriented for a few days, not really aware of what happened. When he makes it to the bounty everyone thinks he is a ghost working for Morro. When Morro goes to attack the Ninja, noticing that the rest of the Team doesn’t remember Cole, he pretends Cole is with him, going as far as to call Cole “His beloved”.
Tumblr media
Morro’s Plan? If the Team thinks Cole is important to him they will attack Cole to get to Morro. Cole will have no option but to defend himself in return… Besides, an earth Ninja on his side? The Preeminent would be pleased with him if he got the Earth Master on their side.
And since Cole was made Mute when he died, there is no way for him to ask for help. His plan is flawless.
The story is a rewrite of Possesed, Skybound, DotD, and hands of time. And is meant as a slow burn redemption Arc for Morro, in which he slowly realizes the error of his actions and stars falling in love with Cole.
Sadly for him, it might be too late when he realizes all the damage he caused, and Morro might end up having to ask for help to save Cole from the path he sent him in.
sorry for taking so long to respond. Also feel free to ask more questions! 🫣

more for the ghost swap! unsure of whether to keep the designs as is, but it may suffice for me to ramble now!
Morro: - an adventurous boy who grows up in a fairly normal, but more secluded village where more or less everyone is responsible for the kids. as such, his origins are never quite questioned by himself or others. - his demeanor changes when he starts being haunted by strange dreams, nightmares. he keeps invisioning a cold, dark place, with lost souls screaming for mercy. and a voice that tells him it'll get him sooner or later, and that there's no reason to hide. over time, his visions shift, he begins seeing a different, but equally dark realm, a large figure of doom terrorizing the land. - his friends get freaked out by his sudden shift in temper, he gets more anxious and more on edge, snapping at interactions he would normally have lovingly teased in in return. the adults notice too, and they get concerned, but he won't let them help him becasue he feels as though they can't understand and would only ridicule him for thinkign the world is going to end. - he's already suspected that those dreams were more than just that, but after a long while they began clearing up: he envisioned clearly an ancient tomb, and a monastery at the top of a mountain. feeling destiny calling - as well as shunned by his peers - he sets out to find these places - the ancient tomb turns out to be the tomb of a serpentine tribe. oops. whoever he frees first (havent thought of who to swap pythor with yet) thanks him and convinces him that "yes, of course, we want to help save the world :)". of course morro falls for it, he's a kid and he's been travelling the country alone for who knows how long, it's his first friend in a while. - morro gets suspicious when he sees the serpentine, all of whom were freed by then, attack civilians, but he writes it all off until he catches the pythor stand-in talk to the other generals about their plans to awaken the Great Devourer. he confronts his supposed friend about it, he threatens his life now that he sees morro as a liability in the plan, and morro barely escapes with his life - knowing he messed up, he recalls the second part of his final vision: the monastery. he takes up his final strength to search for it and arrives there compeltely hungered out and exhausted. They take him in no questions asked. privately, he confides in Master Preeminent that he has been the one to free the Serpentine and cause the chaos unfolding at the moment. he tells her all he knows about their plans. Wrayth overhears them and snitches ot the rest of the crew, souring their opinion of the kid - this whole au is just full of trust issues huh... cant blame morro for not trusting them a whole lot after the fiasco with pythor's swap-partner. and on top of that, morro is terrified from what he has seen in his visions, thinking that at any moment, the world could end. they all dont really like each other at firs,t and morro isnt exactly helping himself when he also acts like a little jerk sometimes, but they can see pretty soon that he's just a scared kid who made a mistake thinking he was doing the right thing, and feels hella responsible for all the bad things happening. - in the process of bonding with him, not only do they find out hes the master of wind, but after Bansha saves him and unlocks her true potential, it is also revealed he is destined to be the green ninja! ruh oh!
Lloyd: - Master of energy. Son of Misako and Garmadon (shocker, they have him much earlier here, though). confident, powerful, undoubtedly skilled, but ultimately hindered by his pride - throughout his childhood, he always had the feeling his mother hid something, something bad she wasn't willing to share with him or his father. over the years, he would watch his mother be consumed by evil, and his father was powerless to stop it. Nonetheless he would try: Misako held out for pretty long until compeltely succumbing to it, so he saw hope in finding a cure. Lloyd, then a teen already, was left in the care of his aunt Preeminent - he became fascinated, wanting to learn everything about combat. Preeminent soon told him of the prophecy of the green ninja, and telling him it might be him who is destined to save ninjago from his mother. A hard thing for any child ot hear, but Lloyd accepted it as fact that one day, he would have to fight his mother. - he trained and trained without pause, but when the golden weapons didn't glow, Preeminent knew she had been mistaken. They were both shocked, but Lloyd was more than just that. He was disraught, angry. How could destiny choose anyone other than him for this path?! He, of all people in Ninjago, should have a right to fight this battle! - Preeminent denied him further planning of this fight, and he leaves the monastery overnight, bitter and enraged. He would show her. He would show her, his father, and everyone in Ninjago that this was his destiny, not someone elses! A long journey ensues, perhaps dragged out for longer due to his sheer stubbornness in not accepting help until he absolutely needs to. - One fateful night, in which he rests somewhere that isn't his home, feeling the slightest twinge of doutb nd regret about his decisions, he is visited in his dreams: Wu, whatever name he possesses as the grand ruler of the Cursed Realm, makes him an offer: he can take him to the Realm of Madness, the realm his mother was trapped in, in exchange for taking his soul once he passed. No downsides here: after all, Lloyd will be victorious in the battle against his mother, Wu was certain of that! he would come home as a hero, adored by everyone and having fulfilled his true destiny! Lloyd takes the deal and soon finds himself face to face with Misako. - But despite the fight he put up, despite how much he trained... he had no chance against destiny's ruling: His mother had slain him then and there, knowing her son would not leave until one of them died. - Lloyd arrived in the Cursed Realm, furious at Wu, but not for long: Wu had him under control now, after all, and this realm was the perfect place for him to intervene with the destiny Lloyd had fought so hard to prevent before. He wouldn't let death stop him, even if he couldn't win against Misako, he woudl still see a chance in getting his revenge...
Master Preeminent: - master of creation. sister of misako. mentor to all those under her care, for better or for worse. strict beyond belief, but compassionate and caring. a hell of a fighter from years worht of experience. - much like wu, has seen just about everything. befriending and betraying aspheera's swap-partner, fighting in the serpentine war, the time twins, seeing her sister become a lord of darkness, you name it. fucked up a lot in her life to say the least. - the loss of lloyd, her nephew of all people, later painfully recounted to her by misako, who confirmed it was her who killed him (and blamed preem for not watching over him), is perhaps the biggest regret Preem has in her life. she has sworn to redeem herself by making sure she would find the one to take down her sister. - all of the story plays out pretty similarly to wu's, she's just a bit more jaded and strict on the surface throughout. no way she's letting history repeat itself here, she thinks - has the same genetic heritage as the canonical garmadons, but maybe also some connection to the cursed realm. perhaps after lloyds death she, much like morro, was haunted by him, figuratively or literally.
Lord Misako: - Master of destruction. sister to Preeminent, former wife of Garmadon and mother of Lloyd. - Much like Garmadon, she was bitten by the Great Devourer when her and her sister were merely children. Unlike him, however, she bites back it's influence for far longer, letting it fester but fighting it at the same time until it's too late. One of the last things she tells her husband is to run, not look for her, and to not weep after her, just keep himself and their son safe. - she is banished to the Realm of Madness where evil's influence grows far stronger and she loses grip on herself, her mental state worsening and her form resembling more and more the one from Morro's visions. this isolation continues for pretty long - seeing her son, seeing how all he wanted to do was kill her, and the realisation it was her, who ultimately killed him in a moment where she had no control, was the final straw, and Misako lost her mind completely, being engulfed only in darkness from then on. - she finds a way out and the plot plays out similarly to seasons one and two, but after the big battle she simply cannot forgive herself. i doubt she, like garmadon, becomes a Master herself. she probably self-exiles, as a punishment for what she has done. hopefully, during the somewhat-events of season 5, she gets to play a part in lloyd's return

“This, is a soul stone.”
“A…soul stone?”
“Yes. Once a soul leaves its physical form they create a soul stone to keep their…ghost-like form intact. This soul stone is surrounded by the actual projection of ourselves, similar to how a heart is encased inside the body. It cannot be taken out easily. In fact, the only ones who can remove anyones soul stone from their physical projection is the First spinjitzu master, Sensei Wu, Sensei Garmadon, and the consciousnesses of the two realms of the dead. Other then them, not even the person whose soul stone it is can remove it from it’s home, and its no easy task for the ones who can either.”
“…If all of that is true, then how are we both looking at your soul stone?”
“….Unfortunately, my soul stone had faced extreme abuse years ago, leaving it fractured and….weak.”
“Is that why it has pieces floating around it? It looks almost like a planet, surrounded by its moons…”
“An interesting comparison.”
“Ahm…that’s besides the point. Why are you showing me this? If its so delicate that it can almost never be removed from its home, then why would it help us in our mission?”
“…the merge, has shown to create unique consequences over the years. One of such, being the slow return of the Preeminent.”
“What.”
“I can’t explain in too much depth to what had happened, we don’t nearly have that much time and I need to use it sparingly.”
“What are you talking about?!-”
“A soul stone is indeed delicate, Lloyd. So delicate, so precious, that the very existence of a soul relies on it.”
“The..what?..”
“If my soul stone gets into the wrong hands, if it faces too much harm, I will no longer be able to keep it connected and in ‘one piece’ as I have so far. I will be erased from existence, and so will all the knowledge I have so painstakingly collected.”
“…Where are you planning to go, Morro?”
“…A place I should’ve visited years ago.”
——————
Will there be a fanfic of this? Probably not, since i can’t stick to finishing stories.
Anyways, take Morro from an AU i created in my head, theres no other content of it other then half completed stories in my notes/word documents and this post.
If anyone rlly wants me to, i can go more into depth of this AU and give it a name. But for now, all you need to know is that its mainly canon compliant, just with a few changes to the story of Morro and then the actual canon divergence starts during the merge. Some things before that will also be changed to fit ideas i have and things i like, such as the issue with Lloyds age.
Oh, alsooo! Morro in this drawing is still a ghost, but in this AU to differentiate departed ghosts from cursed, cursed ghosts look like how they did in the show and Morro’s og design, but departed ghosts tend to look more like how they did when they were alive (with some differences and yknow, being see- through)
So Morro in this looks like how his Departed ghost form would in this AU
I also realised that the gi itself looks a lot like Cole’s because of the black and orange. Pretend the orange is grey/green/yellow, pls and thank you.
AND MY FAVOURITE LITTLE DETAIL. Look at Morro’s gi and how its folded, see what i did there??
I had fun drawing this with another newly acquired art style, this is also one of my first few times drawing Morro and being happy with it. Turns out i am very picky when drawing characters i like over literally anything else.

First off thank you so much for the answer it was a great read. My second question has to do with my biggest gripe with show, that is wu keeping secrets. He never learns his lesson with it from Moro to asphera and the one I hate the most,Kai and nya’s parents. He was Kai’s fathers best friend and he never tells them anything about their parents except fact that they were elemental masters. That secret helped with whole Chen thing and I’m honestly surprised that the two weren’t furious that he didn’t tell them anything. So does he or garmadon tell them anything, and if not how does fsm and garmadon react to that?
You 🤝 me
Fixing plot holes with this au
So Wu not telling people things is a thing that happens a lot in the show, and obviously the reason is that Ninjago didn't plan ahead with their seasons until Dragons Rising. But I believe that the in-universe reasons are a) he didn't these things were important or relevent (I mean the Aspheera incident happened when he was a child so 🤷‍♀️) and b) he's paranoid about over sharing which leads to under sharing.
The whole Morro incident didn't happen in this universe (see: this post) so we don't need to justify that (thank god).
So if we take all that into account it leaves two main issues. Wu not telling them about their parents and not training Nya as a water ninja from the start. So let's get into that.
In this au, the reason Wu didn't tell Nya about her powers is because Lloyd was born too late (this is also the reason tomorrow's tea happened, it was the universe course correcting). He was supposed to be born well before the venom kicked in fully, so he would be a teenager roughly the same age as his guardians when fighting the Overlord. Instead, he was born not long before the venom kicked in and Garmadon was banished to the Underworld.
This meant that by the time the four ninja were beginning their training, they were quickly running out of time. In an effort to insure the four ninja of the prophecy plus the green ninja got enough training Wu deliberately didn’t tell Nya that she had water powers so he would’t have to spend time teaching her instead of the others. Especially since he doesn’t know much about water as an element, since he, garmadon and FSM couldn’t use it. So he also wanted to wait for Nyad before he started anything beyond basic training with Nya.
But by the time the prophecy was over Nya had already made herself as Samurai X and Wu felt bad about potentially destroying it by telling her. It wasn’t until the Preeminent tried to take over Ninjago that Wu finally got the confidence up to tell her.
Garmadon does not approve of Wu’s decision to not tell Nya about her powers at all. He thinks the longer he leaves it the worse it will be when she finally does get told - and she does have to be told, the ocean does not like to be restrained. But he leaves it since Nya is primarily under Wu’s care. FSM agrees with Wu initial decision to not tell her in order to spend as much time training the the other five
And now the previous elemental masters, which I will admit, was harder to work out, but I love a good opportunity for world building and plot hole fixing! In season four Garmadon says the reason that the ninja didn't know about the other EMs was because they were made to feel special. I assume this decision was to motivate them when facing the Ultimate Evil^tm. However, that doesn't really explain why Wu and Garmadon didn't tell them post-defeating the Ultimate Evil^tm.
Wu told all all four og ninja that their powers came from the First Spinjitzu Master, and the thing is in canon, he's technically not lying, he's just missing out the part where they got passed down through generations of elemental masters. In this au, he really isn't lying. The FSM boosted the fours powers so they could protect Lloyd better - some of their powers are directly from them. But moving on...
Ray was Wu's best friend, so when he went missing and Wu didn't have his powers to track him down, he was devasted. I think in part Wu's decision to not tell Kai and Nya about their parents was because he was grieving them still, and grief makes people do strange things. Obviously this is a mistake, as, like you said, it leads to Kai nearly being manipulated by Chen.
Wu not telling Cole about Lily was in a mis-guided attempt to help him salvage his relationship with his father. He had originally assumed that Lou had told Cole but when it became apparent that he hadn't, Wu left it - he didn't want to damage Lou and Cole's relationship further by revealing something that Lou had kept secret.
For Jay and Libber, Wu was aware that Jay didn't know he was adopted, and it was this that partly influenced his decision to not tell any of the ninja about their parents as it would lead to some uncomfortable revelations with Jay.
For Zane and the previous elemental master of ice, it falls into the catagory of simply not relevent. Zane does not have any relation to him, though he does learn about him when the Ninja eventually get sat down and told everything about the previous generation.
And of course Wu (in this au at least) has a problem of forgetting to tell people things. He was under the impression that the ninja all knew about his and Garmadon's heritage and that they also knew the FSM was alive, but of course they didn't.
Garmadon does not like that Wu kept all this a secret, but as I mentioned before he doesn't want to over step his boundaries and tell them. And he also has the problem of forgetting to tell people things - it's hereditary. FSM also does not like that Wu and Garmadon elect to not tell the ninja about the other and previous EMs. They believe that the elemental masters of each generation should be at the very least aquaintances with each other (they're a little biased, the first EMs are as good as family to FSM). But the thing is, between seasons 3 and 5, FSM pays very little attention to Ninjago. They were planning to find Maya and Ray for Wu, Kai, and Nya post Final Battle, but well, they forgot. Immortals - especially FSM - can have very bad time management skills.
Hopefully this covers everything and makes sense but if not just let me know. And feel free to keeps the asks coming because they're very fun to answer!

For @badthingshappenbingo. Prompt: Confined To Bed Rest. Suggested by @bracedfangirl who asked for "Lloyd for Confined To Bed Rest"
Tumblr media
Ever since they had gotten him back, the metaphoric light in his eyes had faded and had been replaced by a void that was impossible to read, one that made Kai feel sick.
Kai held on tighter when Lloyd flinched in his hold, nearly hitting his head on the curve of Kai's chin; he was pretty sure that there was some form of an apology interspersed with the series of hacking, wet coughs that escaped Lloyd's lips, but between the gasps and the exhaustion, it ended up being unintelligible.
"Don't worry about it," Kai insisted even when Lloyd sagged against him and went scarily still that had him turning to Zane, "is he-"
"He's still conscious," he let out a breath, watching as Zane quickly removed the blood pressure cuff which had caused Lloyd to flinch in the first place, "his vitals are mostly stable, except for…"
He didn't even have to say it, Lloyd's breathing had sounded awful from the moment Cole had pulled the two of them out of the river.
"So, what do we do?"
"Lloyd is the only one who can destroy the realm crystal, which means he has to come with us to Stiix."
'Right. End of the world, Morro, even more terrible things happening to people who don't deserve it.' Kai gently pulled Lloyd out of his slouch as he started coughing again.
"Are you sure all four of us can't just blow it up?"
"Affirmative. Our powers are still too weak from…" Zane's glance shifted towards Lloyd's face for a few brief moments before he returned eye contact with Kai, "from what happened, but it shouldn't take that much of Lloyd's abilities to destroy it."
Kai ran a hand through Lloyd's still damp hair before returning it back to the place around his arm where he had been holding him upright to encourage coughing up the water he had inhaled.
"Zane, he can barely sit up."
"We don't have another choice," Zane's grave tone only made Kai's decision making skills stall to more of a standstill, "if he does not destroy the realm crystal, Ninjago as we know it will be cursed."
Lloyd whimpered in response, which had Kai sitting straight up, but he let out a string of coughs before slouching against Kai once more.
"I know, I know," Kai finally sighed when he felt safe enough to return his gaze back to Zane, "but maybe we should make a backup plan if he's still this bad when we get to Stiix."
'If it were up to me, it wouldn't even be considered.'
"You do make a good point," Zane agreed while clipping a small monitor around one of Lloyd's fingers, "I'm going to update the others and see if we can make a backup plan, but I do not feel comfortable leaving him unattended-"
"I've got him, just don't let everyone decide to make me swim," Kai insisted as he pulled Lloyd upright again, "I've done enough swimming to last a lifetime."
"Very well, but Kai?"
"Yes?"
"Maybe use the towel to dry him off some more."
"Got it," Kai nodded, grabbing it as soon as the door shut behind him and started to towel off Lloyd's hair slowly in order to avoid another harsh flinch, "you still with me, Lloyd?"
He got a few harsh coughs in response that made his own chest twinge in sympathy.
Lloyd had managed to stay upright, defeat the preeminent and give a very motivating speech on the deck of the small paddle boat to the point where Kai wondered just how Lloyd had gotten this much energy when he had barely been able to speak that morning.
But when they returned to The Bounty and Lloyd keeled over in a way that renewed the unrelenting panic in Kai's heart, he realized that it was clearly a mix of adrenaline and spite, the same kind that had carried him through his own numerous battles.
He didn't have any new injuries outside of some bruising and minor cuts, 'thank the master', which pinpointed the cause of him falling unconscious as exhaustion, according to Zane.
"He needs sleep, a lot of it," Zane finally determined while Kai stood against the wall, fully prepared to move over to Lloyd's side as soon as he was allowed, "Kai, you'll need to reinforce it."
"After you shower," Kai whipped his head around to see Nya walking in, her under eyes looking only a few shades lighter than Lloyd's, "you smell horrible. I'll take first watch."
"Are you su-"
"Positive, we all took a vote on it," Nya's smirk lit up her face enough for Kai to know that it was mostly a joke, "go shower."
"I'll be back after I'm done," Kai relented, stopping to pull Nya into a tight hug as he found himself overwhelmed with pride that overtook the panic for a few, brief moments, "I'm so, so proud of you."
"Thanks," she returned the hug until he let go, "now go get clean, before I start gagging."
Kai couldn't help but let out a laugh as he found it in himself to go, knowing that Lloyd was perfectly safe with Nya and Zane.
"I have never seen…" Kai was going to add "someone who was that hurt two days ago escape Zane's watch for the third time in twenty four hours", but then he was reminded of after they defeated the Overlord the first time and without discussing it with each other, all tried to pull through it without getting medical attention and kept it to himself.
But at least he had given up on going that route after that, unlike a certain green ninja.
"Look, there's no way he would have gone outside in this," Nya gestured to the raging thunderstorm outside the window, "but we need to find him before he does."
"Lloyd!" Kai called out as he and Nya went in separate directions to divide and conquer, "Lloyd, hide and seek at eleven p.m in the middle of a thunderstorm is a really bad ide-" he was cut off by the generator turning off and The Bounty being encased in darkness.
"Great, just great," he muttered, lighting his hand ablaze before continuing to make his way through the ship, "Lloyd!"
He found himself making his way towards the very bottom of the ship; while it was now a glorified storage unit, there was a small, condensed training course down there, the same one Lloyd always took his anger out on when he didn't want to be seen.
He really hoped he wasn't foolish enough to train with fresh injuries, but he also knew that if he was, it was in order to avoid what was really bothering him.
Kai didn't hear any noise coming from behind the closed door, even when he knocked, but he still found himself opening it regardless with a "Lloyd? You in here, buddy."
It was silent for a few beats even as he briefly shined the fire in his hand throughout the room, but that's when he heard a voice coming from behind the door.
"I'm right here."
"Oh, thank the master-" Kai muttered as he shut the door enough so he could get down beside Lloyd, the fire in his hand illuminating the dark circles under his eyes in the worst way which subsequently quelled the anger that had been building since Zane had told them he had escaped again, "you scared us."
"I didn't mean to."
"What is going on, Lloyd?" Kai asked, even though he had a guess in mind after the events of the last month, "you've always been a bit of a flight risk, but this is…you've really outdone yourself."
"Can you go ahead and take me back?"
"So you can run off while everyone is sleeping?" He waited for the inevitable scowl, but still reached over and gently rested his hand on Lloyd's knee when it came, "I'm here for you, whenever you're ready to talk."
"Can you…can you please take me back?"
"Yeah," Kai resigned as he stood up before holding out his hand and helping Lloyd to his feet before leading the way back to his room.
"Oh, thank goodness," Nya muttered as she pulled Lloyd into a tight hug, but Kai could tell that Lloyd's heart wasn't in returning it as he lightly squeezed back, "I'm so glad you're okay."
As Nya helped him back into bed, Kai had to stop himself from pulling her away and voicing his concern that maybe, just maybe, this was the thing that had fully broken Lloyd.
Ever since they had gotten him back, the metaphoric light in his eyes had faded and had been replaced by a void that was impossible to read, one that made Kai feel sick; he couldn't help but wonder if Morro digging into Lloyd's memory and using his body had caused the Lloyd they knew to go down with the preeminent.

Remember this idea? That post got more attention than I thought, so I just spent some time writing about that idea. I am still sick so it isn't the longest thing in the world but it sure is something. Maybe I'll continue in the future. Writing beneath the cut.
It had been a while since he was amongst the living– a few decades, to be exact. His newfound freedom was all thanks to his ninja master's newest student: the "actual" green ninja. If it hadn't been for this kid opening the gateway into the Cursed Realm to banish his own father Morro would've still been stuck in there. And now, as a way of saying 'thanks' to this kid, Morro had taken his body for his own– possessing him. The thought of encountering his old master in the body of his prized student was thrilling as he approached the tea shop he now lived in. Before possessing Lloyd he had found out that the monastery on one of the lands highest mountains had burned down a bit ago. The winds were swirling around the possessed kid as he approached the small shop, located far away from any city to notice if anything were to go wrong during Morro's mission.
When the winds outside the shop started to pick up the old man got suspicious. Something about the way it sounded felt familiar to him. A small feeling of dread began to form in his stomach, a wall of regret threatening to be broken the closer those winds came. As he watched his other four students run outside to greet their friend who had been gone for a few hours Wu held onto his hat and staff before speaking a warning to them, but of course his students didn't listen. “That's not Lloyd,” he had said, yet they still opened the shops doors and went outside. Oh, they could be so foolish for being heroes…
Morro had become aware of the fact that Wu had more than one student at the moment, the other four who were meant to protect their green hero. But Morro hadn't cared much to research about them before he had possessed the museums night guard and called for Lloyd to come investigate. A quick glance over the four seemed to be enough for him, at first. They appeared to be a bit older than Morro had been when he passed away but that was about it. The only other notable thing he picked up on that quickly was that one of them seemed to be a robot.
Just as Morro was about to tell them to step aside so he could enter the tea shop to confront Wu he eyes latched onto one of the four– a boy with raven hair and dark eyes. Something about that boy made Morro stop dead in his tracks and he ended up just silently staring at the ninja as he took in every detail of this ninja.
He knew he should've continued on with his plan, the mission he had been sent on, but something happened within him. Instead of telling the four to step aside he called out to Wu, who was still inside the tea shop. “Hey Wu, who the fuck allowed you to train hot people now?!” His voice echoed through the night, carried along by the winds that still accompanied him.
His words did not go unnoticed. The raven boy stared at his possessed friend with a shocked expression, with his three friends all staring at their raven haired friend before looking back at Morro, equally shocked. Right, they weren't even aware of Morro possessing their friend.. Oh well, what did that matter now? His words went unanswered, no one knowing how to respond to something like that.
His eyes remained fixed on the dark haired boy, his bushy eyebrows and the absolute shock on his face. Something about that look was amusing to Morro. It was an interesting mix of fear, shock but also a little bit of a smile threatening to break his tough looking facade.
Morro wondered… Why bring the Preeminent into this world to curse and destroy it if someone this pretty existed in it? He would risk this guy's life. And while it could be nice to be a ghost with him, a small part of Morro's heart feared the boy would hate him. That was something he did not want to risk, so… No Realm Crystal or Sword of Sanctuary it is.

Green shuffle au
Basically, Morro is the green ninja, Rumi is the emo ghost, and Lloyd is the quiet one.
I've seen so many AU's where Morro is the green ninja and Lloyd is the ghost or Lloyd is the quiet one and rumi is the green ninja. But never all 3 shuffled around.
The basic plotline is. Morro is a homeless kid and thinks it would be a good idea to claim to know Lord Garmadon to get food. The ninja arrive, and cannon happens, but with Morro in Lloyd's place. I haven't yet figured out how this applies to Wu breaking Garmadon out of the realm of madness. Also, morro can still control wind.
Rumi dies during the events of the great Devourer and somehow ends up in the cursed realm and wants to take revenge on the ninja for letting the great Devourer escape, but during the season climaxe she sees a family running from some ghosts and has a flash back to her death and realizes that she is no better then the monsters she claims the ninja are, so she rebels and distracts the preeminent long enough for everyone to get to safely so kai can make a Tsunami large enough to drown the preeminent. (BTW kai and nya swap elements. So kai is the master of water, and nya is the master of fire. Also, Morro saves her because he believes that getting sent back to the departed realm via water desintigration is letting her off too easy.
Now, for Lloyd, I haven't fully decided how, but he somehow gets adopted by the Royal family. When he sees on the news that his father is back in the world of the living, he gets excited and is ready to have his father get him so they can rule Ninjago together or whatever. But for one reason or another, even after Garmadon has been purified. He never comes to get Lloyd. Both he and Masako think that Lloyd is still in darkly school for bad boys and never think to get him. Then Garmadon dies, and Lloyd starts the sons of garmadon and the plan to revive his father.
Also echo is Mr E. Lloyd sneaks out to go to the light house because everyone knows that Dr. juilien was forced to work for his father, and Lloyd thought that there might be some stuff left that he could use. (This takes place during the hands of time, btw so it's been a couple of months since skybound) to find echo almost dead. Lloyd brings him back to his lair and is able to fix him up. Echo still remembers the deleted timeline, but thought it was a dream. But when Lloyd tells him about the ninjas and that Dr. juilien is dead, echo is pissed. No one ever came to the light house except in the deleted timeline, and that was to hide. Dr. juilien never came back for him or any of his stuff. Echo was tossed away by his father in favor of his older brother. Lloyd offers echo a chance at revenge and a new possible family that echo readily accepts. Echo and Lloyd become good friends, even brothers. Plot happens, but Lloyd doesn't try to "seduce" morro like rumi did in cannon. But when garmadon gets revived and kills echo. Lloyd realizes that this man is not his father. So he takes what remains of echo and runs away, somehow finds the ninja and begs them to save echo. He offers all the knowledge he has and will be there willing prisoner. Tension is high, but they agree. echo still wants revenge, but he is willing to cool it for Lloyd. Echo is not loyal to the SOG he is loyal to Lloyd.

Is Kai getting possessed by morro just this one comic or are you planning an au ? If so, what would be the story like 👀
so far, kai being posessed is just that one comic. i'm not a great writer, im better at concepts, so i figured it'd be best not to make it into a full au and just a lil idea to draw some angst out. that said though, i DID have a small idea for a story with it!
the whole idea was really just that morro didn't go peacefully/die by the preeminent, and wanted revenge. to put it roughly, i was going to draw out some ideas of morro moving to fight lloyd and wu with kai as the weapon. but it'd be undercover, sort of, where he plays as kai for at least a week or two with everyone unaware. throughout this kai is powerless to fight back while also being pummelled with angry morro thoughts lol.
whether he would have won or lost a fight between lloyd or wu, i dont know. my ideal world would be that yes, he won, but at the realization that he still wasn't happy with them gone. in other words, he wasn't at peace. maybe hed fight the other ninja and leave kai alone, then wander off into the world himself. idk!
that's kind of what i had in mind. tldr; morro posessed kai to fight wu and lloyd, most likely for ego reasons, and when they fall he realizes he made the wrong choice.
maybe ill dabble in it again in the future.who knows !! ill post it here if i ever do, though.

back before dragons rising came out i had this GIANT theory in my head that fugi dove was the new master of wind, i was so sad when we were first introduced to euphrasia (i love her but couldn’t help but be sad my theory was debunked LOL) the source of this theory? in my mind fugidove had been such a random villain introduction, he had no backstory, no real beef with any of the ninja and he isn’t really a criminal despite petty crimes??? so i thought there HAD to be a reason they introduced this silly guy for more than entertainment purposes… boy was i wrong… but before this i had saw this conversation back in the crystallized era someone had asked tommy if they had plans for the element of wind and he responded something along the lines of “we have an idea” (to lazy to find the tweet). also the idea that nya could control/talk to whales and other sea creatures because of her element and aswell as fugi having some sort of connection to birds/pigeon, animals of flight being a connection to wind… i had this whole back story of fugidove growing up in the Village of Sticks and his home being destroyed during the battle with the preeminent and morro (yk dramatic irony?). i was delusional and i thought i had something going ….

Chains of Destiny
Summary:A late night talk between a ghost and a ninja.
Extra:Morro didn't die at the end of s5.
P2 p3
Morro wasn't sure why he was in the kitchen. All he knew was that he wasn't tired, not that ghosts need the same kind of sleep mortals do.He really wanted to go out and train, but that meant risking waking up someone. It was just asking for Red to melt his face. The porcupine haired ninja would jump to conclusions at the mere sight of Morro(and he knew noone was going to side with him no matter what.Maybe Wu,but that was not a topic Morro wanted to think about). Humorless chuckle escapes his lips as he thinks that it wouldn't be undeserved.
"What's so funny?"
He almost jumps at the voice, cursing himself for letting his guard down.Water ninja stood at the doorway to kitchen, glaring at the ghost. Her cold and calculating brown eyes were filled with fury. It reminded him of his own stormy gray ones tinted with the sickly green of the cursed.
"Nothing." he answered, not sure what would happen next.He wasn't sure where he stood with the new ninja. Not that he was friends with others, but that's because they had a...weird way of treating prisoners.
Prisoner. That's what Morro was now. From a respected general and Preeminent's right hand to a prisoner of some color-coded morons.Said color-coded morons did defeat him and killed an entire fucking realm along with everyone who resided there.Still, the way they treated him was way different from the way Cursed realm treated it's prisoners and enemies.
Preeminent was cruel to those who refused to follow her.Ninja were being surprisingly decent to him. They only had Morro wear vengestone to prevent him from using his powers and ghost abilities.Even then he got to take them off to train Cole. The black ninja needed to adjust to his new form and who better to teach him how to be a ghost than one with decades of experience?
Jay and Zane taught him about modern world. The former was scandalized to hear that Morro didn't know what video games are.FSM,that guy was definitely related to aunt Master Libber. Both had way too much energy for any living (and non-living too) being. At least the nindroid (that's the term ninja used, right?) was calm and patient.
Lloyd just avoided him.Morro avoided the green ninja too.In a way, they seemed to have reached an unspoken agreement to stay out of each-other's way.Lloyd hasn't forgiven him and Morro wasn't sorry for what he did.
Kai...he hated the guy,but respected his skills, loyalty and bravery. He thinks, bitterly, that none of his ghostly comrades would come back for him the way master of fire did for Lloyd.Heck, Bansha would gladly push him into danger as long as it didn't mess with Preeminent's plans. The fire master was also the one he fought the most, but that was because they relied on sparring with each-other to let out their anger. There was no need to hold back and no worries about hurting each-other's feelings.
Wu was a complicated mess he wasn't going to think about yet.
That left Nya,who he hadn't interacted with as much as the others. Not even when he was trying to fulfill Preeminent's wishes did he fight with her as much as he did with the ninja. There was that time in her cave(he remembers a bomb being thrown at him and thinking:does she not realize Lloyd will get hurt?) and Stiix. She was the one that ruined all his plans.
"Why are you awake in the middle of the night?" she asked, snapping him out of his thoughts.
"Not tired.Could ask you the same question." he retorted.
"Couldn't sleep, need something to drink. Is that a problem?" Master of water asked, her tone daring him to object.
"No."
He was just going to wait for her to leave, but the ninja had other plans. She started making tea(dear First Master,Wu got them too) and sat at the opposite end of the table. At least there was distance between them.Tense silence settled between them and Morro hated those. That left him with two options:talk with someone he despised or endure the awkward silence. He tried,he really did,but in the end spoke up:
"So how's the training going?"
Water ninja seemed as surprised as he was.
"...Fine." she answered after a moment. He paused to think now that the topic of training came up.She unlocked her potential a week ago,he knows that,but...
"How long have you been training?" he asked. Surely it's been years or at the very least months.Maybe she and Wu kept the training secret or it wasn't something much. That would explain why he didn't see a water elemental in Lloyd's memories.
"Two weeks."
He had to have misheard that. There's no way- two weeks, dear FSM,that'd be shortly after he appeared at their doorstep with Lloyd under his control. There's no wa-
"Are you...okay?" Water ninja asked.
"Two weeks. Two weeks of training and you unlocked your true potential after one." I said.
"Yes and?"
"'Yes and'?That's all you have to say?"
"I'm not sure what you're talking about." water ninja said, her body stiff and ready to fight if needed.
"You mastered your element in a week.Any other elemental master would take years, months even if they're a prodigy." he said. Water ninja tightened her grip around the cup.Again,he stopped to think.
"You have that much skill and talent, but stuck to being a samurai instead?" he blurted out.Maybe that was a bit rude.Samurai are(or at least were in his time,he has no idea of the modern world) respected warriors with plenty of skill to back them up.
As he looked at the downright murderous fury with which water ninja's eyes lighted up,he realized he might have made a mistake. Suddenly he saw the striking resemblance between her and her brother. The same kind of rage in their eyes, but Kai's was like a forest fire whereas she was the sea during the storm.
"Don't you dare say that.Samurai X was my creation, something I chose on my own unlike the powers I was forced to master because I'm a daughter of an elemental." she said, glaring at the ravenette.
"You...don't want powers?" Morro asked. The idea seemed baffling to him.Who wouldn't want more power?Everyone he knows wouldn't dream of rejecting powers.Granted,he only knew people who already had said abilities or bitterly died and ended up serving Preeminent, but still.
"Of course I don't!" Water ninja exclaimed. It was a miracle noone woke up with how loud it was.
"Then why did you even become a ninja?" he asked before he realized how stupid the question was.
"Are you stupid or that selfish?I had to become a ninja because you showed up and I was the only one who could stop you! Which is rich, considering I couldn't move a droplet without Ronin's stupid advice. Honestly,if it wasn't for you,I'd still be a Samurai.I wouldn't have been forced into this position and nothing would change!"
Morro wasn't sure what exactly it was,but something on the young woman's rant made him feel...bad.Queen of the Cursed, is he feeling remorse? Why would he feel guilty for this of all the things he's done?!
"You hate me because I ruined all of your plans?Well, surprise, the feeling is mutual. Thanks for everything." with that water ninja stormed out of the kitchen, not even bothering to finish her tea.Morro finally relaxed, not even realizing that he had tensed up as well. That was...something. As he looked down, his eyes fell on the sickly green chains around his neck that marked him as one of Preeminent's.The very chains that embodied the curse on his soul(don't think about the curse or how he got it). In an attempt to claim the destiny that he thought to be his (but it wasnt,he knows that now),he might have very well placed similar chains on someone else.

how will morro react when he finds out who the green ninja is...
basically the five stages of grief LOL
first he’s in disbelief. like there’s NO way this bratty child is the green ninja. then he’s pissed, because he spent basically his entire life searching for a worthy vessel crew mate and it turns out to be lloyd of all people. bargaining, he tries getting rid of lloyd because he’s fed up and captain morro is NOT a babysitter. depression means he gets really pouty about it for a minute, but the preeminent(who’s more of a demon/siren in this than a physical form of the cursed realm i’ll explain it later) persuades him to kidnap lloyd again for her own reasons. this leads into acceptance, where morro realizes that the preeminents plans maybe aren’t what he thought they were…hmm……

Note
you have a sandstorm au?
I have a wholeass playlist for it, too 💪😌
I've summarized it before but it's been a while and some things have been updated so here's another quick summary, under the cut because of allusions to suicide:
Cole kills himself prior to canon by way of train, and ends up in the Cursed Realm. He meets Morro, and initially the two of them don't interact all that much until Morro figures out Cole's supposed to be the master of earth. Morro teaches Cole how to fight, Cole teaches Morro ballet because he doesn't want to owe anything to Morro, and they bond and it's nice and sweet and the Preeminent is looming over everything!
When the Cursed Realm is opened up and Morro and Cole slip out, Morro possesses Lloyd as per usual. Where things change is that Cole comes in separately and pretends to be enemies with Morro, allowing him to get in good graces with the ninja. He sticks around, helping them in their attempts to get the Realm Crystal before Morro can, and finds that it's actually... not that bad, hanging out with these guys.
But Cole knows where his loyalties lie. When the ninja get their hands on the Realm Crystal, Cole steals it to bring to Morro, who uses it to free the Preeminent as they planned. But Cole's time with the ninja had an effect on him, and he really cares a lot about Morro. Like, a lot. And while before that saw him being willing to follow Morro wherever, now (with some nudging from Wu) it's got him moving to work with the ninja to stop the Preeminent. There's a brief fight between him and Morro that doesn't do anything but affirm that they both really care about each other.
When the Preeminent's defeated and the ninja are victorious, where does that leave Cole and Morro? Wu offers to house the two, but Morro needs time and space after everything, so he and Cole set off to parts unknown. They don't return until Day of the Departed, and even once they have bodies again they're still not certain about their future. But they're here, and they're together, and there's a whole wide world and a whole wide life for them to live. So why not try?

figured out what to do about nya for the ghost swap
Ronin: - appears to be a roughed up, but humble shopkeeper somewhere in ninjago. wont take kindly to thieves and has quite a bit of combat experience. - not quite as terrible as in canon, but he does have the occasional dubious tactic for upping sales numbers, knows little scruple in that field sometimes - changes the story abotu his injured eye every time someone asks him. - takes Bansha in after she asks for work (a bit of a retcon from post 1 but bear with me) and more or less becomes her sole guardian for the time. teaches her all he knows about self defense - becomes samurai x some time after bansha saves him from the skulkin and leaves to train her newlyfound powers in the monastery. claims he does so because he doesnt trust the fate of the world to be handled by some kids, but he also worries about bansha, knowing she bites off more than she can chew quite often. - his identity is revealed to bansha first, but officially ot the rest of the group roughly by season 2. he stays for the final battle but then goes off to do his thing until season 5 - much like nya, ronin is revealed to be the master of water, and receives training from Master Preeminent while the rest of the group try to figure out how to save Morro. hes good at fighting, but kind of sucks because hes only ever learned to rely on what he thought he was capable of, not these new powers. also claims hes too old to learn new ways to fight, even if the water elemental is crucial to their victory
Nya: - rough-and-tumble girl of mysterious origins, often seen wandering around in towns. lately seems to have settled in Stiix. - uses the fact that she is underestimated a lot to her favor. will befriend people only if it benefits her, and conceals that fact pretty well. is closer in personality to canon ronin than this ronin lmao - used to travel around with her brother Kai after the disappearance of their parents. whilst trying to find them - and keeping him and his little sister alive - kai made a deal for his soul, in exchange for a foolproof way to locate their parents. - the two of them made the trip, which dragged on from weeks to months. frustrated, stressed and malnourished, kai slowly lost his mind. behind nyas back, he sold off her soul aswell to make the journey end as soon as possible. - just after a fight in which kai admitted he had no idea if they are ever going to find their parents, the two of them are ambushed - kai is killed and nya severly injured. she manages to survive, miraculously, and is nursed back to health in a hospital. - the mech arm is a construction of her own; she is just as mechanically gifted as her canon counterpart, likely as a result of travelling so much and needing to steal and fix up cars or bikes. - post-mortem, the cursed soul of kai and the other ghosts commune with her, some of them taunting her, some blaming her for her situation. it worsens her mental state further, but kai at the very least can instruct her on how to make it alone. shes long given up finding her parents at this point and lives as a vagabond, stealing, gambling and making enemies at every turn. all she wants now is to free herself of the curse, which the ghosts promise they can do, if she in turn helps with disrupting the ninjas plans to save their realm - her backstory left her with severe issues regarding trust, but she comes around to bonding with ronin while hes in training

Summary: Morro finds out how his final death ends.
Warnings: Mentions/descriptions of death
Prompt: Day 7 - Crystal | "Too late now."
Extra: I saw a tumblr thread on how Morro probably saw his death in the reflection of the Sword of Sanctuary, so I decided to write about it. Set during the time where Morro and the other ghosts are waiting for the Ninja to arrive.
He boredly swung the Sword of Sanctuary, imagining sparring with an invisible enemy. His work was done, all he had to do was sit idly and stop the Ninja from destroying the Realm Crystal. Then she would be free and he…
What would Morro do after this? The blade hesitated, just barely refraining from slicing the head clean off his nonexistent foe. He glanced at the blade in contemplation. Should he?
It would most likely be futile. She will not fail…right?
He carefully held the sword so he could look into its flat side.
He saw the Ninja showing up, of course. The Green Ninja (he thought with venomous disdain) ran into him and a group of ghosts, only to be revealed as the Water Ninja. Interesting, so this is their plan, he thought to himself, ideas of using this knowledge to his advantage bloomed in his mind.
Lloyd rushed into Ronin's old shop to destroy the Realm Crystal.
His future self said… something that made him hesitate long enough for her to drag him into the Cursed Realm. Then she was free.
They'll win. He will win.
A violent grin breached his ghostly face as he watched the Ninja retaliate, all futile efforts of course.
The Ninja evacuate Stiix, and Lloyd somehow returns. Seriously, this kid must be a cockroach or something.
The Ninja take down the supports and at some point he and Lloyd teleport around the 16 realms while fighting. He loses Lloyd somewhere.
Then the Water Ninja conjures a gigantic fucking wave.
And suddenly, he's losing. The Preeminent is drowning, and he's snagged by her as he tries to escape with the Realm Crystal.
And Wu comes. He comes to save Morro, to save him.
Why?
Morro could feel anger boiling inside of him again. Why would this old fool still care about him? After everything he did?
He saw as his sensei's mouth wordlessly spoke to his future self, saying something that convinced him to try; to save himself, to change.
And, yet again, his efforts meant nothing. The Preeminent refused to give up her prized possession, and Morro gave up.
He gave up.
He gave up.
Morro watched himself hand the Realm Crystal off to Wu and give up. He watched himself dissolve into nothing, dragged by his master to his watery death.
Enraged, he threw the sword and lodged it into a wooden beam.
"WHY?" he yelled at no one. "WHY WOULD YOU GIVE UP! WHY WOULD YOU SACRIFICE EVERYTHING WE'VE WORKED FOR?"
He tightened his fists, "Why..?"
And then, it clicked.
His teacher, his father, never gave up on him. Even when he became evil and tried to curse every realm, Wu never gave up on him. Even as he was trapped by the one he devoted himself to, bound to his imminent death, he didn't give up.
His sensei believed that Morro could be better; that he could change. But Morro knew it was too late for himself. He had gone too far, ruined too many lives. He had to rest now.
So he let go.
From afar, he heard something brewing. Some people were fighting. The Ninja.
"Too late now," Morro muttered to himself.
