Rodger's attempt to prank Caruso with a glitter glue trap on the lighthouse stairs goes horribly wrong when it gets on his tail and turns it into an unintentional fish lure. Fiona can no longer concentrate on the essay assignment she's been trudging through and she is going to throw her copy of great expectations out the window

monster squad Max attempts to get the team to bond over a nice physical activity by taking them to the rock climbing gym. Buzz and Rodger hate it the whole way through, and also aren't beholden to gravity anyway so the whole exercise feels pointless to them. Fiona gets into it a little and actually enjoys herself when she beats Max to the top three times in a row. Caruso is NOT beating the goat allegations after this. he doesn't even like rock climbing! he didn't want to be here!
#dino squad#monster squad au#it's funny to me that caruso gets the ability to climb basically anything bc goat#when buzz can fly and rodger's ghost half isn't bound by gravity in any sense#it's like. hooray! caruso gets one niche skill that isn't even needed bc his teammates can get a higher vantage point wayyyy easier#no walls required#i also think max tries getting the team to do a lot of various fun physical activities to try and improve their teamwork#but either half the squad isn't enjoying it or it turns into a competition#obviously caruso's ability to climb anything would eventually come in handy#either in a more low-stakes situation where buzz & fiona cajole him into climbing idk the lighthouse to grab an important thing#that got stuck up there bc they're not letting the fact that he bleated once go#or in a more high-stakes situation like needing to get out of a hole or off of the ground

But tempting isn't enough. Cole bristles, wasps buzzing under his skin. It's not something Zane can help, anyway. "Of course it hurts." Cole snaps, "You're the one trying to hold a broken vase." He wants to yell. He wants to take his words back. He wants to listen to the venom in his veins and the spider in his brain. He wants to be good. He wants to let Zane in. He wants to hurt something, to yell and flail until something breaks. He wants to take the words back.
