very generic swap AU for ava. Lots of yap below the cut where I talk about important changes and my thoughts about the differences between victim and Mitsi here.

The big one is that she doesn't actually pursue revenge until she realises the guy who tortured her malewife would give her access to the guy who killed her malewife; before this, she basically has a big personality change, becomes a bit bitter, cold, managing with an iron fist etc and changes Rocket Corp's focus from general tech to arms/defence using blueprints victim had made.

unlike victim, who loses like 90% of his workforce and tanks the share prices, Mitsi instead sells to the gov because they are now obviously wanting some protection against terrorists. Whereas victim is too caught up in his own trauma to think of any other future for the company, Mitsi capitalises off the fear The Disappearance caused and quickly becomes the wealthiest figure in the entire Outernet. I think she’d be an absolutely terrifying boss using her old personality as more of a Customer Service mask. This would definitely be obvious though and I think it would make her more terrifying if anything 

As to how victim dies in the disappearance, my best guess is once people start disappearing from the party, he realises it’s to do with Newgrounds very quickly and he rushes over there with the rocket he fixed probably not long after he landed. He gets there, finds her, and saves her in a final moment of self sacrifice. I think this is a good setup because it puts Mitsi (and Agent) in the exact position Agent is in canon whilst also allowing Mitsi to see who the culprit was. I think it’s a good (temporary…) ending for victim as well, since he dies on his own terms rather than that of his creator’s

It's not until The Showdown that she realises she has a proper shot at getting revenge AND getting victim back; I'm certain victim has at least told her a little about how he was made, and she realises that she could totally get that revenge she's been craving for years whilst also convincing victim's creator to "make him again". Another big difference between victim and Mitsi here is that whilst victim quite obviously stews in his rage and grief for an extensive period of time (and quite frankly never actually has any real proof TCO and Alan are working together and simply just assumes that until he gets that showdown clip), Mitsi doesn’t let it show until she knows it’s actionable i.e. she has solid proof that going after TCO would give her access to Alan. 

Something else to add on here is that where victim is more or less using Mitsi’s death as an excuse for revenge, Mitsi is using her love for victim as a motivator. Because Mitsi simply doesn’t have the sort of background victim does (the disappearance is like THE traumatic event of her life rather than one of several), victim takes the emotional centre of her eventual desire for revenge. In canon, it’s pretty clear victim is more obsessed with getting revenge on Alan than getting revenge on TCO (still absolutely brutal towards TCO though, don’t get me wrong); his hatred for Alan/TCO outshines his love for Mitsi.

Big flaw here is that she doesn't really grasp how bad Alan was to victim; she’s so deadset on getting him back that she won’t stop and think “how might this actually be a bad thing”. I wouldn’t imagine he would be normal after being revived again and I think this would work as a good climactic point of conflict for like act 3. Where in canon there’s a good chance Mitsi will be revived no immediate consequences (thanks orange), victim would be redrawn the same way he had been all those years ago (and hence would not actually look like the victim Mitsi knew in the first place). A nice touch of “revived but came back wrong” to get Mitsi to hop off the revenge train. Another big aspect here is that victim would be like “what have you done to our company” much in the same way id assume Mitsi would in canon.

Overall I think the events we see in canon (other than the ones I have described) would play out about the same. I think it would be clearer that Rocket Corp. has a way bigger presence in the Outernet rather than being some weird creepy company that people vaguely remember as having a change in management some time after the disappearance. Mitsi would be probably more precise (and markedly less brutal) in capturing and extracting information from TCO because Mitsi doesn’t have the inferiority complex victim does. I think he’d still take a couple hits though, but Mitsi has no need to exemplify her control over TCO like victim does; she just needs to weaken him enough to make him talk.

That’s all i’ve really thought about so far. She’s spinning around in my mind like she’s in a microwave.

╰₊✧ honestly, gi-hun isn’t so much as jealous as he is insecure. sure, he has an outgoing personality and always makes you laugh without fail, but he can’t think of any other positive traits aside from that. he doesn’t think of himself as particularly attractive with his scruffy appearance, and he’s painfully aware that he’s lacking when it comes to finances and has a gambling problem to boot. on top of all that, he was a divorced middle-aged man who didn’t even have joint custody of his only daughter and still lived with his mom rent-free, a terrible husband, father, and son— he’s truthfully the type of man people avoid when dating.

╰₊✧ yet he still managed to pull a pretty young thing like you who looks past all that, not sure if you were stupid or desperate. during the first few weeks of being together, he made jokes about still being able to date younger women in his old age because he was still in disbelief it was happening, but when you stuck by his side through all his flaws and the first year passed with you supporting him to get better, insecurity hit him like a ton of bricks when he realized that he was genuinely in love with you and that he didn’t have what it took to be the boyfriend you deserved when he wasn’t even someone his biological family deserved. 

╰₊✧ he sees other people buying their girls jewelry and clothing from name-brand stores, taking them out to eat in luxury restaurants with multiple courses, driving them around in european cars, and he’s out here saving money to do something as little as cake for your anniversary. he’s always on cloud nine when he spends time with you, but there’s something so humbling about looking up “broke date ideas” and scraping together what he already has to make it more special. no matter how much things like that don’t matter to you with the mindset of the intention counting more than the price, he still feels shitty about having you pay for most of the things you do together when he’s the man and the older one in the relationship along with the fact that you were barely better off than he was. 

walks around to admire the sights: especially during holiday seasons when there are pretty lights, you like holding his hand and admiring the sights of the city you often take for granted. if the streets are empty then he doesn’t mind it, but he does get self-conscious about the looks you both get so it’s not super common.

candlelit dinners of takeout and beer: a regular one, gi-hun likes to gather a bunch of candles to make the place look a little more romantic, maybe even having some roses to make it look nicer. the man doesn’t cook much though, so you’ll just have replated takeout with bottles of beer, but he always makes it lively with conversation and puts effort into fixing his hair to look more handsome.

and anything else he can think of, he can be really creative when it comes to you and you’re pleasantly surprised each time.

╰��✧ these things bother him a lot more than he will let on, but he tries to stay all smiles around you which you see right through like glass. he’s a bad liar, a trait he would always get in trouble for when he was a child since he couldn’t lie about his antics.

╰₊✧ he feels awful when he finds that you also entered these games to pay off your respective debts, because no matter how much you try to convince him you aren’t, he knows that you intended to use any extra money to help him out as well with his debt being higher than yours. it should be the other way around, he should be the one helping you, and when the first shots are fired during “red light, green light,” he makes you swear that you won’t come back.

╰₊✧ of course, you do come back, because while he is your boyfriend, you’re also a grown-ass woman who can do what she pleases (also because you’re desperate and prefer not to find out what those loan sharks would do to you if it took too long to pay them back, and you might as well go to support gi-hun because you know his ass went back).

╰₊✧ he feels a little bit better about himself seeing all of the other people in a similar position as him, drowning in debt and petrified of death. he tries to be protective over you, but let’s be honest, you’re the protective one who mothers him, and since the constant threat of death is always looming, he lets you do it even if it looks stupid. people are either judgemental or jealous, but there are bigger things to worry about.

“people are staring…” he muttered, his eyes darting around to meet theirs and watching as they looked away the second eye contact was made. “you don’t need to do this, you know, it’s a little embarrassing.”

“i don’t care, let them stare,” you stated simply, rubbing into the back of his shoulders with practiced circular motions. “they are just jealous that they don’t have a cute girlfriend to take care of them like you do, and i want to! your muscles are so tense— i don’t want you participating in the next games when you aren’t in the best shape. we could die any day here, i want to give you all the love i can!”

╰₊✧ jealous of sang-woo with his intelligence and emotional security. even if both of them are wearing the same teal tracksuit, his childhood friend was in here because of failed investments which sounded a lot better than just losing constant bets in gambling dens. (to be fair, if you were gi-hun’s controversially young girlfriend, i don’t think either of you would get along well as he probably looks down on you and you probably find him stuck up, so he doesn’t have to worry about you being stolen away by him). not really jealous of that block-head deok-su hitting on you, after the little altercation they had on the first day, more annoyed than anything but the feeling quickly vanishes when he sees you reject him with a roll of your eyes. 

╰₊✧ actually jealous of anyone your age paying attention to you, especially ali who has a really sweet personality and gets along with you really well, maybe even sae-byeok who has a pretty face and is decently nice once you get to know her. 

“you need to stop pouting.”

“‘m not pouting…”

“you’re a bad liar, you know that? but it’s so cute,” you exclaimed, reaching out to pinch his cheeks childishly. “you don’t need to be jealous of ali, he’s already married and has a kid.”

╰₊✧ it’s so obvious when he’s jealous, it’s actually painful. he stares holes into the head of the person talking to you and is pouty until you address it. he’ll also blush when you call him out and tease him about it, it’s so cute. please give him assurance, pinch his cheeks, ruffle his fluffy hair, and give him lots of kisses, he deserves it.

I wanna talk about my interpretation of the “Chooses death” sequence and what i think about Miles and Phoenix in it bc i feel like people get me wrong when i talk about it.

I often say that I would not have forgiven miles as quickly as phoenix did, and that i believe phoenix should have punched him for what he did. A lot of people say that phoenix was in the wrong for basically saying “You should have never come back from the dead!” and interpreting that as like phoenix basically telling miles to khs.

A lot of ppl wanna give miles more grace because they believe it WAS a “game over” note but he decided against it last minute, and i like that interpretation too!

Some believe phoenix knew what the note meant and still got pissed givibg phoenix less grace, because he was the one who told miles to “Kill the old prosecutor in him” or smth like that in the Skye case

And i’m not saying any of these interpretations are wrong! I like a lot of these interpretations!

But a lot of people miss my point when i say that i believe no matter what, phoenix had every right to be pissed and mad at miles.

1) This does NOT mean i hate miles as a character, no this flaw of his, constantly running away rather than facing problems or believing that he doesn’t leave much of an inpact on others Makes me like him MORE!!

I love when characters have an inherently unlikable flaw about them! Usually when people write character flaws they tend to be more sympathetic flaws, and i like those too! But when they have something about them that is just Ambiguous and unlikable like, they have a tendency to run away, they deflect and lash out at others, they have a problem with commitment, etc. I LOVE THAT. I love when a character has traits that are UNLIKABLE IT MAKES ME EXCITED TO SEE “Ooo how are they gonna grow from this!!!! :D”

2) this also does not mean that miles or phoenix are totally at fault here. Both of them are pretty messed up guys who are trying to communicate in the only ways they’ve ever learned how.

Phoenix is a very emotional person up until AA4, who is a representation of how a “normal” dude would react to absolutely batshit scenarios, but ultimately is really never talking about himself. He reacts to other people. He’s emotional about other people. He was sad and angry at miles, he’s silly and strong for the lil sisters/kids that he has, he’s exasperated and fond of his friends and he’s static with those he doesn’t know all that well. Phoenix is a very interesting character with his emotions which is why i find every interpretation of him so interesting!

Miles on the other hand:

Miles is a reserved person who is intimidating upon first glance and awkward at a closer look. Phoenix even says himself “A lot of people dont get edgeworth, do they.” and i believe the investigations games are a big indicator of this! Throughout the investigations games, so many people find the first one boring because Miles doesn’t react as much, because we are SEEING through his persona that he puts on in the courtroom!

We are finally seeing what got him the title of the prosecutor to call when there is a high profile case. We see him exasperated, we see him stressed, we see him angry, stoic, calculating and at certain times we see him show a little bit of a lack of empathy for others, including himself.

But we also see inside his mind, we see him fawning over steel samurai merch, we see him thinking of Phoenix when he’s lost which could factor in on why he kept calling phoenix over to europe during phoenix’s disbarment. We see him fondly looking after Kay and growing his friendship with Gumshoe.

He never says these feelings outloud, he shows them in roundabout ways that go over a lot of the characters heads until they start to understand him and know him more.

In an interview, the authors explain some things about miles and why he’s so less vulnerable in the investigations games, and they said “Its because we aren’t looking through the eyes of phoenix anymore” (paraphrasing. would you believe me if i told u my paraphrasing made it LESS gay?)

Phoenix seems to see miles in a way that no one else does, that is to say that miles shows more to phoenix than he shows other people.

But this also goes vice versa

In a scene in Hazakura temple (the famous bridge case) Miles says something about how phoenix is feeling. Miles then says something along the lines of “Not that i expect to get any clarification out of you” with a fond side smile. Phoenix then apologizes to miles about this. (this is slightly inspired by a tumblr post lol)

So it can be inferred that phoenix is NOTORIOUSLY dodgy with the details of his life. Mia points out that she thought phoenix had a twin because of how different he was from the “Feenie” she saw on the stand during the first dahlia trial where phoenix eats a necklace.

all this to say that miles KNOWS phoenix deflects topics when they are about himself, so for him to be so open about something personal means all the more of how dire it can get for him.

BACK TO THE NOTE! Because yes this all started with the note i go on tangents alot LOL

The note has a lot of significance for how miles was dealing with his whole life being flipped inside out, because he resigned himself to a tragedy when suddenly a side character from his past RIPPED THROUGH THE PAGES OF THE BOOK and changed the narrative to a redemption story. He wasn’t expecting anything of that. He looks at phoenix the way he remembers his father in a way, a shining light. He never realized that phoenix saw him the same way. So when Miles came back, he did everything in his power to try and live up to that. But once again, phoenix turned the pages of the book and scribbled all over it.

Miles understands phoenix because he is so blatant about how he’s feeling and why he feels that way. Despite being secretive about the facts of his life, He’s an emotional person, which is probably why we don’t see much of miles during apollo justice. It’s new territory, its unnerving. He’s so hidden and miles needs time to interpret that.

Also don’t think i’m skimping out on phoenix’s flaws. We have a whole ass game for that called AA4

In the trilogy he is so quick to floor the gas pedal on ANYTHING like yes i’ll change my entire life to see one dude bc he looked sad/stressed

Yes i’ll run across burning rope bridges, take the execution, tank an explosion, all for maya

yes i’ll break into a place (Gant’s office, Engerde’s house) and almosy get killed (50,000 volts, mafia, redd white, assassin, etc,) to prove you’re innocent!

He’s idealistic and sometimes gets upset when they dont match his ideals

he’s a master at deflection and many other condescending traits. and thats what i love about him.

Anyways yeah what miles did was a dick move but thats why i like him LOL

You just cannot understand it. In his eyes everything seems pretty simple: you love him, he loves you. You and that personality which had charmed him. You and that perfect body he adored since the beginning even if you either rolled your eyes or shied away whenever he said. Indeed, it is as simple as he puts it. He loves you, everything about you, no matter your sceptic gaze when he told you’re the first time and many others after it.

He has learned to come to terms with all your so-called quirks, minus one. The fact that you never show some appreciation for yourself. Do not mistake me, he doesn’t mind a bit that he had to reassure you over and over again that you are beautiful. Well, he wouldn’t mind if you believed him after it, and unfortunately for both of you that’s not the case. However, you will also have to deal with one of his flaws in exchange, his determination to make you trust his words.

So, he will come from behind and wrap his arms around his waist when you stare judgingly at the mirror for too long. Kiss your shoulder, your cheek, and even the tears that sometimes escape your control in those kinds of situations. Whisper to your ear that your body is straight from the descriptions of old goddess. Caress every part of it as long you are comfortable. Introduce to others with a proud look on his face and a smirk in his lips as “my partner”.  Trace patterns all over your skin, draw lines and mindless forms over everything you call imperfections. Scars or stretch marks, he does not care. For him they become notes in a symphony he would love to hear time after time.

When a girl admires him from the distance, he will give them a sharp and irritated glance and tighten his grip around you. Both mordacious and innocent comments that can thrill your insecurities will be met by his biting remarks. And for him everything will pay off the day you learn to treat and see yourself with the same utter devotion he does.

Understanding Husk

A "husk" means a shell or a protective outer cover. This fits his character well since he's shown to be a husk of a man. More specifically, he's a former overlord who lost his power.

Husk in the "Pilot" was a lot more grumpy than he is in the show proper, losing his temper at Alastor and not hesitating to show his disinterest in anything going on as long as it doesn't concern him. When he sees just who has yanked him away from his card game, all he can do is exasperatedly ask Alastor what he wants with him this time. Seeing as Alastor is a constant reminder of how his gambling ended up costing him his status as an Overlord, it's easy to understand why he'd be upset at having to bend to the Radio Demon's will.

In the series, it's established he's still a jerk, but it's evident he cares, and his temper isn't as volatile and often warranted. In the beginning, Husk made it no secret that he was forced to stay at the hotel because of his ties to Alastor and would gladly get as far away as he could if able to. Behind his grumpy exterior, Husk is actually very patient and it takes a lot to make him legitimately angry.

He does his job as a bartender competently, but Husk is fairly blunt about the fact he's only participating in the group's shenanigans because he simply can't be bothered to protest. He does join bonding activities but departs once it's no longer enjoyable for him, after Vaggie decided to literally throw everyone into the middle of a turf war as part of her trust exercises. Thankfully, he grows out of this a bit as the series goes on and grows to care about the staff and guests.

Husk has his own issues and is pretty much apathetic to almost everything out of pessimism. But he still has the most common sense out of the cast and he's the most emotionally intelligent and self-aware, even serving as an advisor to the others at the right times when he's not bitterly accepting his circumstances. The hotel's owner is the only cheerful idealist demon princess who just wants to see the good in everyone, one investor is a maniac who wants to get entertainment out of watching the chaos, the other investor is the owner's neglectful, depressed father (and also the literal King of Hell), the manager is bossy and threatens people with weapons at the slightest provocation, and the cleaning lady is a neatfreak with a thing for "bad boys". Then there's Husk wanting nothing to do with their escapades. He's also a lot more hostile towards Alastor and Angel after they touch him multiple times.

It should be noted that Alastor lets Husk get away with flipping him off. But the moment Husk brings up the fact that Alastor's own soul belongs to someone else within earshot of the Radio Demon, Alastor can barely restrain himself to threatening to tear Husk's soul apart and broadcast his screams for all to hear if he ever says that again. By the end of the encounter, Husk is a shivering, terrified wreck and Alastor couldn't care less.

As the bartender, Husk knows how to listen to people and knows exactly what kind of problems that all the residents of the hotel are going through, and while he would rather let them solve their own problems, he isn't exactly above giving them some pretty solid, if very brutally honest. While it was unnecessarily rude to bring up the Hotel residents' flaws, Husk was accurate about every one of them as Charlie's desperate to help others but doesn't confront her own issues, Vaggie judges others because she hates herself, Sir Pentious is a lonely Sinner who watches people in their sleep, and Angel puts on an act that he's happy about his porn star job but is really miserable.

Husk was always cynical and crass, but he's also an old Sinner with a tender heart. With Angel however, he tends to be a lot more irritable. While it initially looks to be because of Angel constantly flirting with him, it's because he hates how hard Angel acts out to hide how miserable he actually is, considering him a "phony" in a self-destructive spiral. He eventually realizes he and Angel are the same, despite their differences. They're both self-destructive addicts since Husk is a gambling addict, while Angel is addicted to sex and drugs who sold their souls to an abusive Overlord. And both of them have descended even further into their addiction and adopted outwardly cynical, cruel personas as a coping mechanism.

Husk getting through to Angel Dust in the manner he does makes a considerable amount of sense when it's taken into account that the first step to overcoming drug addiction is usually getting the addict to acknowledge they even have a problem. Angel hasn't been able to get better despite having some genuine interest because he's been utterly refusing to admit he has a problem to fix, the moment he does his mood drastically improves as does his motivation.

In "Welcome To Heaven", Husk saw Cherri as a bad influence on Angel's path of redemption and advised her not to get high during their night out. He even defends Angel from Cherri's criticism about how the hotel was changing him. Of course Husk wants what's best for Angel, but unlike Cherri who thinks that feeding into Angel's addictive tendencies are the best way to treat his depression and that living up to the hotel's standards is only making his life more difficult, Husk encourages Angel to stick with the self-improvement he's learned from the hotel and not fall back into his old ways since Angel's trying to get into Heaven.

When Vaggie leaves to find out how angels can be killed, she tells Angel, Sir Pentious, Husk and Niffty that she knows they didn't sign up to be the first targets of the angels, so she wouldn't blame them if they left. Of course, when she and Charlie return, they find that all of them have stayed and fortified the hotel.

Husk even admitted that he doesn't want to look for new drinking buddies and being nice to both Angel and Pentious is a demonstration of the massive character development he's undergone over the course of the show. In the beginning, he was grouchy towards everyone and hated even being in the hotel, but now he's willing to risk his life to defend it and the other residents.

Living With Bruno - Headcanons

Hi guys. I hope you are all doing okay. These past 24 hours have been rough for those affected by American politics.

In the name of comfort and escapism, I’ve been imagining what living with Bruno would look like. For instance—What does Bruno do in his spare time? What does his house look like? Is he a neat person? (spoiler alert: he definitely is.) And what is he like behind closed doors?

I’ll be diving into these questions (and more!) under the break!

Bruno lives in his modest childhood home by the sea, and he hasn’t changed much of the furniture or decor since his parents decorated it. Almost everything is as it was when he was a kid—it gives him a sense of comfort.

During the day, he loves to let the salty sea breeze in through open windows. At night, the lighting feels warm and inviting. Bruno is mindful of energy costs; he only uses lights when needed. Candlelight often fills the home after dark, adding a cozy ambiance. Bruno Bucciarati is a neat person, so his home is impeccably kept.

Bruno spends most of his time in his living room, partly because it’s where his record player lives. It sits between two speakers on top of a waist-high bookshelf in his living room that holds his impressive record collection, including genres such as jazz, prog rock, classical, and more. (He has a whole section dedicated to Miles Davis.) He’s added a desk to the room so he can work while listening to his vinyls. On the wall hangs one of his father’s old fishing nets, a reminder of the vow he made to his father to fight against drugs.

His childhood bedroom is mostly unchanged, having the same furniture and arrangement as when he was young. A small bookshelf holds the stories his mother used to read to him, and pictures of his parents rest on his nightstand.

His parents’ bedroom remains as it was when his father passed. Besides keeping it clean, Bruno hasn’t altered a thing in there, finding something almost sacred in its preservation.

Bruno’s also got a pretty decent wine collection stashed in the cellar, with some expensive, rare bottles. Being careful with money, he rarely splurges on high-end wine, so most of these rare bottles were gifts.

Bruno Bucciarati definitely uses his walls for storage.

Before moving in, Bruno will chat with you about your needs. For instance, do you have any allergies? Do you have sensitive skin and need to use special laundry detergent? Are there certain foods you won’t eat? His home is now your home—he wants to make sure you’re comfortable.

Bruno may not be a fan of PDA, but behind closed doors, he isn’t shy about showing affection. Whether it be a peck on the cheek, warm smiles, hand-holding, cuddling to Miles Davis, etc., Bruno is always happy to be close to you. (This goes without saying, but he loves when you reciprocate!)

You might often catch Bruno watching you with quiet admiration. For example, he lets you get ready for bed first so he can just observe you—it’s his way of reminding himself that he now has someone to come home to. For him, it’s like gazing at a winning lottery ticket.

However, like many people, there are moments when Bruno needs his personal space. (Especially if he’s very stressed or it’s work-related.) After all, everyone needs some alone time now and then, and he’ll do his best to let you know ahead of time. Don’t worry about upsetting him if you need to see him during this time—Bruno would never be mad about it. He’ll also reassure you there’s nothing wrong with your relationship if it’s something you need to hear.

Everyone has their flaws, and communication isn’t something Bruno is always the best about. He tends to keep stressful things to himself, to “shoulder the burden,” so to speak. In his mind, he believes he’s protecting you, but this can lead to him acting in unpredictable ways that only make sense if you have the full story.

For instance—remember when Trish asked Narancia why Bruno was such a cold person?

Bruno had a reason for his behavior, as he was close to death. But without knowing the entire story, Trish saw him as cold and uncaring. This is exactly the kind of misunderstanding I’m talking about—without context, Bruno’s actions can give the wrong impression.

Afterward, Narancia told to Trish that this was just how Bruno behaved, and she would understand if she got to know him better. While this dynamic of unexplained behavior may work in a subordinate-leader relationship, this isn’t the type of relationship you and Bruno have. Seeing you happy and safe is what matters most to him, but he doesn’t always go about it in the best way.

Communication is something the two of you may have to work through together.

As noted, Bruno is a neat person. Keeping everything clean and organized helps him stay focused and level-headed. On his days off, he keeps up with chores so his place stays in top shape—he also finds it calming.

Laundry and Ironing are two chores he doesn’t mind doing. Bruno takes great pride in the way he dresses so taking care of his clothes is very important to him. He also happens to be very good at removing stains. (Wearing white clothes regularly will force you to get good at it.) Like many Italians, Bruno doesn’t own a washer or dryer. This means everything gets washed by hand and hung outside to dry. (No need to splurge when you can do your laundry yourself.) Because clothes get stiff when air dried, Bruno irons everything, including socks, underwear, and towels. (This isn’t uncommon in Italy either.)

Bruno is quite skilled at cooking, a talent he developed while caring for his father. (He’s also picked up tips from Polpo’s unsolicited rants about food.) On the topic of cooking, Bruno tends to be big on meal prep, given that he doesn’t always have the time or energy to cook after a long day at work. Therefore, I can see him making a comical amount of food at once to store for later. You’ll walk in and the kitchen table looks like this:

If there’s one chore Bruno doesn’t enjoy, it’s taking out the trash. At first, I thought he’d have it easy because of the fact he could “zipper” it away inside the ground, but as stated to Trish inside Coco Jumbo, he has no idea where things go when he does that—probably best not to risk littering underground.

Bruno is very good about keeping clean. Every morning starts with a cold shower, which he enjoys for the mental clarity and alertness it brings. He’s happy to let you join him if he isn’t in a time constraint, and upon doing so, he’ll adjust the water temperature to something more suited to your preference. (Since he takes cold showers, he’s fine with pretty much any temperature as long as it isn’t scalding.)

If you end up showering with him, expect it to take a while. ;) (Especially if he has nothing going on that day.) His hands gently grazing your sides, he’ll likely start by asking if he can wash you. If you say yes, he’ll begin to gently and meticulously wash every part of you with an awestruck expression gracing his face. (“How did I get so lucky?” He’ll wonder.)

Araki designed Bruno with shiny, meticulously styled hair, which suggests to me that Bruno puts effort into caring for his hair. Healthy hair isn’t just good genes—Bruno goes a little further than just using shampoo and conditioner to maintain it. For instance, he definitely uses leave-in conditioner and hair oil. I can also see him using a hairdryer to blow out his hair and give it that perfect bob shape.

It’s impressive how fast Bruno can get ready for the day, considering all that goes into his daily styling. (You should see how fast he can braid his hair.) It takes him about 16-17 minutes to get ready, 10 more if he has to dry his hair.

Bruno finishes his routine with a few spritzes of cologne.

Around the house, Bruno dresses casually—no need for a fancy suit if no one’s around to see it. However, he will dress up if he’s expecting a visitor.

Sleeping next to you makes Bruno realize how fucking stressed he is all the time. His lifestyle/career has turned him into someone who is constantly hyper-vigilant, so it’s no wonder that Bruno is a very light sleeper. (That, plus the trauma from the night two intruders tried to kill Bruno’s dad while his dad was asleep. ) On his own, he tends to wake up multiple times in the middle of the night, but when he sleeps next to you, he usually stays asleep.

The best part about sleeping next to Bruno? He doesn’t really snore, possibly thanks to being a side sleeper. He also sleeps in pajamas, just in case he has to get up quickly. (Imagine being caught naked as intruders walk into your bedroom.)

I imagine Bruno uses the same bed he did as a kid. Therefore, I bet it is the Italian equivalent of a full-sized bed. This bed size has always worked for him, though he’d likely get a larger one if a partner moved in.

(You really can’t tell the size of the bed from the photo. It could very well be a twin instead of a full.)

Bruno typically starts his mornings bright and early at 6:30 am. He usually aims for about seven hours of sleep, going to bed around 11 p.m. or midnight, though it’s not unusual to see him working until 1 or 2 a.m. (So yeah… he never really gets enough sleep.)

In his downtime, Bruno likes to unwind with a book or by listening to records with a glass of wine—though these moments don’t happen as often as they should since he’s a bit of a workaholic.

Sometimes, he’ll take a walk to the shore where his dad used to dock and sit for a while. He finds it comforting—this is one way he feels he can stay connected to his dad.

Why I HATE “Momtara”

(and Dadko)

I’m not really sure how to start this. I’ve been re-watching A:TLA, I was watching The Library and The Desert, or “The Fury of Aang” which is what both episodes were promoted as on Nickelodeon when they first aired, like one big movie. 

Great episodes, really shows how well written Avatar is. I love the world building in the former episode, and the latter is a great insight into Aang, it’s one that really challenges him, shows how far his anger and grief can take him, without it feeling forced.

It’s also a great Katara story, really emphasizes how she’s the heart of the group, who keeps everyone together when the others are either depressed, physically incapable of navigating the terrain, or high as kite. 

Then I remembered the Anti Aang fandom sucks or something, because we can’t have nice things, so… 

Many stupid people will say “Aang never supports Katara” or “Aang makes Katara perform eMoTiOnAl LaBoUr” and that’s simple not true.

One of the main I love Kataang is because of what Aang gives to Katara, when he first shows up he brings a sense of fun, joy and whimsy to her life. He values and respects her, not just as a friend, but also as a waterbender, Katara can be openly vulnerable around Aang, both have lost a great deal in life, he can comfort her just by letting her know he’s there for her, Aang will go above and beyond for Katara in any way he can, both will risk everything to save one another if in danger, and in the first darn episode he offers to take her to the North Pole so she can learn Waterbending kicking off the series.

Unfortunately many people will hyper focus on the rare moments of negativity or just vulnerability to frame Katara as a 30 year old woman who needs to hold up Aang’s head as if he were a 6 month old baby. As show here…

Right off the bat OPs yapping about “Momtara” crap. This point more than any other, is a stupid one to bring up. Both Katara and Sokka are concerned with telling Aang that his homeland was invaded because there’s no easy way to say it. You can’t blame Aang for crashing out once he eventually discovers the truth. OP also acts like Katara comforting Aang over this while he’s in the Avatar State is also somehow a bad thing that happens all the time. When if anything it shows Katara’s strength as a character, she isn’t deterred, put off, or judgmental about Aang’s rage, she instead emphasizes with Aang and just understands that he needs a friend. There TWO, count ‘em TWO instances where Katara brings Aang out of the Avatar State. 

Does OP not realize that both Sokka and Aang realize that they were wrong for their behavior and both actively apologize to Suki and Katara for being sexist and big-headed respectively, both girls reconcile with them and the boys don’t do anything like this again in the show, having learned their lesson. Heaven forbid characters have flaws they overcome (and this coming from a Zuko stan).

Also Katara was crazy jealous and petty when Aang was getting attention from those other girls, I mean she pretty justified, but it doesn’t paint her as a shining example of maturity.

Okay, now it just seems like OP is bitching about Aang for having realistic human feelings. Some old dude brings up something that Aang is personally ashamed of, he bails and Katara comforts him. Other than she had to find him in a storm (something Aang apologizes for and Katara understands BTW) what’s the issue with Katara just comforting a friend about a sore subject for him.

I like how in the second point OP tries to make Aang sound as problematic as possible by “triggering Katara’s trauma” by leaving. While this definitely upset Katara, and it reminded Katara of when another loved one left. Katara already had issues with her father leaving at the start of the episode, and was already felt hurt and tense with her father long before Aang left.

Speaking of which, I understand Aang leaving in the middle of a storm was wrong, it was something he shouldn’t have done, but, that’s the POINT, it was a misguided attempt to face the Fire Nation on his own to save lives and not put his friends in danger, the he realizes he can rely on his friends for support.

THAT’S THE WHOLE POINT OF A STORY ARC AND A PROTAGONIST LEARNING A LESSON AND GROWING AS A CHARACTER!!

I really hate when ZKs bring up this episode, because they only ever use it to hyper focus on Aang being more angry and irritable than he usually is. I’m not saying Aang’s anger or lashing out at others is justified and he isn’t framed as being justified in lashing out at other trying to help, but his anger is understandable giving he literally lost Appa, the only living thing from his past and his culture. It’s one of the ONLY times in the show Aang actively gets angry and lashes out at others, something that very seldom happens and is no indication of his character overall. (Not to mention he isn’t even blaming Katara for losing Appa in this scene).

Same thing applies with this scene. Aang is conflicted and frustrated over wanting to end the war but he doesn’t want to take a life, and no one seems to have any alternative solutions. Again he shouldn’t yell at Katara, but OP disingenuously tries to frame it as Aang blaming Katara for his problems when that isn’t even what he’s doing, nor is getting angry with Katara even a constant thing with Aang, sometimes friends get angry with each other every once in a while, doesn’t mean they have a toxic relationship.

Hooray, more “Momtara” BS. The thing OP misunderstands about Katara’s character is that Katara is motherly, it’s a role she took up when her mom died, but this doesn’t mean Katara is forced to be everyone’s mom. Her “motherly” traits are more so an extent of her compassion and empathy towards, something she extends to everyone, this doesn’t mean the other members of the Gaang are like her children, they pull their own weight, and most of the time are more than capable of supporting themselves, and she clearly doesn’t view herself as a mom. 

She views Aang as a friend, a peer, not a son, she has a crush on the guy for corn’s sake, she views Toph as peer and a friend too, when they argue, she ain’t afraid to stoop to the latter’s level or lower, with Sokka they have a pretty typical sibling relationship, more often than not Sokka actively looks out for Katara and often he’s the one leading the group, making sure they have everything they need, planning strategies and sticking to schedules.

In short Katara is motherly, many times she is the one who keeps the group together and she has no issue supporting or comforting anyone who needs it,  but she is in NO WAY a substitute for an actual parent, nor does she want to be seen as one.

BUT WAIT! THERE’S MORE!!

“Montara” is stupid, but I get where that comes from. I’ll never understand how and why Zuko is considered a father figure. First off, we see Zuko serve tea for the others once or twice. This doesn’t mean Zuko is the ONLY ONE to help Katara with chores is some BS. We see the other members of the Gaang help consistently in the past, it’s brought up in “The Chase”. We never actively see Zuko and Katara work in tandem taking care of the others. ZKs like their own idea of Zuko and Katara’s relationship more than their actual relationship, but they ain’t ready for this conversation.

ZKs need to understand that maturing the most does not mean most mature. Zuko definitely matures the most in the series, and has a wonderful, genuine redemption arc, but that’s doesn’t mean he’s the most mature of the Gaang. For all OPs bitching about Aang crashing out, so does Zuko, and more frequently, sometimes over trivial things.

At the start of Sozin’s Comet he crashes out and starts burning sh!t because the others (including Katara) are taking a break. It’s hypocritical to hyperfocus on a total of SIX times in over 60 episodes where either rightfully upset, makes a mistake he learns from, or lets his temper get the better of him, while dickriding Zuko and praising him like a god acting as if he’s never done anything like this before. The only reason why Katara wasn’t involved much during Zuko’s crashouts it’s because she wasn’t around as they were enemies (it fell on Uncle Iroh to understandably help Zuko), and because when Zuko did upset, he was more willingly and actively violent as show in “The Chase” and “Sozin’s Comet”.

Zuko and Aang do not have a father/son bond. They’re both equals, foils, both grow together as people, they both go a journey together to learn Firebending for one thing. Zuko training Aang and being concerned for his well being doesn’t make him a father-figure. Toph also trains Aang and at times is concerned for his wellbeing, does that make Toph Aang’s mother-figure?

Ignoring the fact that

Katara hardly acts motherly to Zuko because they only became friends with 5 episode remaining.

The first time Katara shows any compassion to Zuko, her instinct is to heal him like an injured child and her comforting Zuko over him betraying his uncle is hardly different than her comforting Aang in The Storm.

Preparing the provisions they need ain’t worth diddly-squat, not only is it something people like Sokka and Aang have done, but it’s the most bare minimum thing and isn’t indicative of Zuko and Katara’s relationship. 

Also Katara and Aang are literally equal partners throughout the whole f*cking show! The two interact and work together as friends, peers, equals!! Katara never looks down on Aang or sees him as beneath her!!! They are two years apart!!!! Will you braindead ZK dickriders stop adultifying this 14 year old dark skinned girl and trying to making Aang and Katara’s relationship Oedipus II, this legit pisses me off!!!!!

Mc can expect him to make an effort.

He’s had lots of time to dwell on his past mistakes and understand where he went wrong.

He will spend an eternity trying to make things right.

Mc has been feeling stressed? Flowers and a gift basket are at their door with a note that has the letter “B” on it.

Mc has to go to a meeting but also need to do my chores? He’ll make sure they’re done before Mc is back.

Mc and Belphie got Into a fight? He’s still texting them “ Goodnight, I love you “ because he knows how easily you can be taken away.

All his life his been deemed lazy or useless. It never bother him until Mc.

He is becoming the best version of hisself because he wants to be the demon whose worthy of a pact with Mc.

This Week in BL - Some Surprises

NOV 2024 Week 1

Ongoing Series - Thai

Fourever You (Thai Thurs YT) ep 5 of 16 - I love this show, but I absolutely hate the main couple's communication style. Or complete lack of communication style. I really hope the other couples are not gonna be this bad and it’s just because this one is leaning into the worst of BL archetypes. But I’m not confident. Poor Ter dating Hill put a big old target on his back. Earth being a dramatic stressed gay queen was peak comedy tho. Apparently the good kisses are only on WeTV (I am annoyed) so props to the giffers who keep me supplied. You're doing the BL gods work.

I suddenly realized, after the bullying sequence, that one of the reasons I’m liking this so much is it reminds me of early Japanese yaoi. There’s something about the dynamics of the characters and the way they're reacting to situations that’s not very Thai BL feeling. And if I think of this is more JBL, I forgive it. Or maybe that’s just why I’m liking it so much despite its flaws? Difficult to understand my own feels about this show.

Jack & Joker (Thai Mon IQIYI) ep 8 of 12 - I don’t like this new evil-bonkers rich kid character and whatever is going on with Jack and Rose and that whole story. It’s boring. And then my brain short circuited. No further thoughts... just War in a wife beater. 

Love Sick 2024 (Thai Sun iQIYI) ep 7 of 15 - Phun's bitch face really is epically wonderful. I kinda enjoy everybody ribbing the two of them because they have no idea what’s actually going on. I'm chronicling my experience with 2024 as compared to 2014 here.

Kidnap (Fri YT) ep 9 of 12 - Omg cutest boyfriends EVER. I don’t even mind how cheesy their bf era is. Does this lull jive with the rest of the story? Nope. But ya know that’s GMMTV’s thing these days, flailing during the final act.

Perfect 10 Liners (Thai Sun YouTube?) ep 1 of 24 - Pretty standard Thai BL university fair. I am hoping it’s better than ForceBook’s previous offering. Yet another sniff test. Is this the trope of the year? Meanwhile, they also deployed the crash into me trope in episode one. Who do they think they are? Taiwan?

New is directing this uni BL with a massive cast + massive run time. It's an endurance test ya'll - we will be watching this until APRIL of 2025! Su su na.

Every You Every Me (Thai Mon Gaga) ep 4 of 10 - I really like that they had the bandwidth to give us a little side couple with this installment. Fun crumbs. Meanwhile, the thing with the shirt in front of the mirror was extremely sexy. This installment was very sad though. And, of course, I’m not happy about it. To top it all off, next week is musical themed, so you know I’m disgruntled about it. 

Ongoing Series - Not Thai

See Your Love (Taiwan Weds Gaga) ep 3 of 13 - Aw spoiled neglected rich boy wants to be cared for and spoiled honestly. I do love them. Also tiny idiot syndrome is spreading. 

Teenager Judge (Vietnam Sat YT) ep 6 of ? - The side couple (teacher student, hyung romance but he’s using em) interesting. Not sure how I feel about them. The subs are so bad it’s largely incomprehensible but I’m still enjoying it for no defensible reason. 

My Damn Business (Korea Sat YT) eps 5 of 7 - I love that our uke can be such a little shit. I love it when a tsundere has some serious snark and attitude to back his petulance up. Also liquid courage. At least we got to the root of the tsundere. Also neck kisses and cuddles! 

Eccentric Romance (Korea Weds Viki) eps 7-8 of 12 - Oooo, cute kiss. Drunken but adorable. I do like it when they use older Korean actors in KBL, they actually know how to kiss. Has the kiss saved this show? Possibly. I’m shallow. 

Love is Like a Poison AKA Doku Koi: Doku mo Sugireba Koi to Naru (Japan Tues Netflix?) 7 of 10 eps - Our con man is such a good little homemaker. And it’s sexy yukata time! Love this trope. 

Love in the Air: Koi no Yokan (Japan Sat Gaga) ep 1 of 10 - Same plot as the Thai original, only from Japan. Very similar so far. I hope Rei is a bit more smart and Arashi is a bit less of a sleaze. I still get too much secondhand embarrassment and my mame alert is blaring.  I'm wary.

Blue Canvas of Youthful Days (China Sun iQIYI) eps 1-2 - Triggers for child abuse, alcoholism. Two artists, one an abused rich kid and the other a tough scrappy poor kid, in the same art prep school. I of course adore the side couple of the much younger kid and the older teacher. Oh, I do like it. But it's CBL, I'm very scared as to where it might go.

Bad to Bed (Taiwan Sat YouTube) ep 1 of 10 - Influencer Wan Xiong suffers from insomnia, it’s a physical and mental battle. As he tried to find a solution, he encounters five boys along the way. I'm putting this on the list because it's airing and I just found out about it but I didn't have time to watch it yet. I hear it's v weird.

It's airing but...

The Hidden Moon (Sat WeTV) 10 eps - Supernatural romance (my ghost boyfriend trope) by Violet Rain (I Feel You Linger). A man is hired to write an article about an old mansion. He sees the ghosts of people who died at the mansion, falls in love with one of them. Was substantially recast. I loved IFYLITA except the ending so I think I'll let this one run it's course you can tell me if it's work tracking down... if they managed to land it. I have my doubts.

Bad Guy My Boss (Thai Sun Gaga) 10 eps - I DNF'd at ep 7, I couldn't make it. I am weak. Life is hard enough right now, this show is making it harder. It’s not what I want from my entertainment.

Let Free the Curse of Taekwondo (Korea Thurs Gaga) eps 4 of 8 - I put this one on pause. It's too heavy for me right now. I'll wait to know if the ending is hard fought happy (and then watch) or not (and won't finish). Sorry all, rough times this side of the screen.

Random I watched it

Vending Machine Sabi Koi AKA Can I Buy Your Love From A Vending Machine AKA Sono Koi, Jihanki de Kaemasu ka? (Japan 2023) - This show is utterly adorable, impossibly awkward, and kinda old fashioned. About a cute nerdy little office worker (he's out!) who has a big'ol crush on the tall hulking vending machine guy. They fall in love. And that’s it. And it’s charming. There’s some first name eroticism, because Japan, and there's emphasis on communication, which is so not Japan, but turns this into an organically loving and talkative relationship. There’s a bit of an age gap, and our office cutie may or may not have a muscles fetish (the hot bod not the shellfish) because (if I’ve told you once I’ve told you 1 million times) Japan always goes kinky. And you know what, I loved it. 9/10

Hello! I am interpreting your ask to mean you want bls that 1) are focused on a Big Love Story as their main purpose and 2) have strong writing that nails the romance, in particular. This one has an asterisk next to the strong writing criteria because things get pretty wobbly in the final arc, but the romance stays strong throughout and it features some of the best bl romance scenes of all time.

It's gay Romeo and Juliet, but nobody dies (though importantly, someone does get shot). This one is tumblr famous for a reason!

Cooking Crush

The sweetest romcom Off and Gun have ever made, with a simple love story between a med student and a chef. This show has some flaws--they let a drunk monkey take over the editing booth on a few episodes in the middle--but it's well written and the romance is great.

A remake of the Japanese original, this one shocked most of us by improving on an an already solid show. It's a fantastic romance, alternately funny and poignant and sweet as hell.

The messy angst-ridden friends to lovers drama we deserve. Don't skip the special episode, it's one of the rare cases where the special is actually crucial to the story and not just bonus fluff.

This one is romcom shaped but also deals a lot with trauma, so on balance it's more of an angsty romance. Warning for dentistry (which I recently learned is an issue for a lot of folks on here).

Gameboys 1 and 2

I think people don't talk enough about how Charlie and Alastor are parallels to each other.

Let's keep in mind, Vivziepop has gone on to say Alastor and Charlie are the main characters of the series, and their relationship & growth is a huge plot point in the show. They are not only the faces of the series, their dynamic is the focal point of what constitutes redemption from two different perspectives.

They're literally narrative foils to each other. In order for this foil dynamic to work, Charlie has to be what Alastor once was, while Alastor has to be what Charlie can become.

Alastor upholds principles of traditional punitive justice. A "serial killer" dubbed a vigilante in his living years, enforcing his theory of justice through retribution rather than rehabilitation. Retribution to Alastor is not a black and white solution, but as a vigilante he believes punishment should be administered because the offender deserves it. Notice how he has it out for people in Hell who he considers flawed in some way (Lucifer, Overlords, loansharks). His idea of punishment must be proportionate to the crime committed-- "an eye for an eye" -- he is otherwise fairly cordial and, if we're looking at the women in his life, pretty protective of who he considers innocent to a fault. This explains why Alastor does not believe in redemption. To him, everybody in Hell, EVEN HIMSELF, are there as punishment for a reason and he gives NO excuse why he nor they should be spared.

Note: this has nothing to do with Hell's hierarchy or the fact Alastor wants to climb the ranks in a power hungry system. He doesn't believe in redemption, and he does not believe in his own redemption.

Now, let's look at Charlie and her idea of justice. Charlie believes in restorative justice, which hugely contrasts Alastor's philosophy. Restorative justice is approached by focusing on repairing the harm caused by unjust systems and criminal behaviour through participatory exercises which involve the victim, the offender, and the community. The purpose is to address the harm caused to the victims and discuss with the community over the responsibility of the offender in order to make amends.

In this process, Charlie believes involving all stakeholders are needed to bring about justice. Restorative justice requires offenders to confront their actions and go through a rehabilitation process, which is the entire point of Charlie's hotel. This is why she encourages healthy activities in order to fix criminals (sinners) and lead them back into society (Heaven).

This contrast in ethics from both Alastor and Charlie is immediately told to us in the pilot episode, where Alastor admits he doesn't believe in redemption (inside of every demon is a lost cause). Charlie explains she believes everyone deserves a chance at it (inside of every demon is a rainbow).

Alastor's strength in this response is that it upholds the rule of law, and in a funny way it's quite similar to Adam and Heaven's views (think of it as a criminal and a police officer having the same view on justice). Alastor's weaknesses in this perspective enable the cycle of abuse as it does not aim to care about any of the parties' needs as a result of being harmed, or addressing what caused this behaviour.

Charlie's strengths lie in her holistic approach to redemption. She believes through this response she can hold the sinners' accountable by addressing their needs, healing their trauma, and thus repairing their relationship with the community. Her weaknesses are her naivity and struggling to apply harsh judgement on severe crimes.

This is why Alastor and Charlie need each other. They make up for what the other lacks, and through a solid friendship they can learn a lot from one another.

It's a tale as old as time with narrative foils, as I mentioned above. One must see themselves in the other. One must embody what the other can become. Alastor sees a pure, younger version of himself in Charlie, but he thinks she's silly and naive because he has been jaded and has lived a life entirely different from hers. Still, her gentleness could reach him. On the other side, Alastor is cunning and smart; he's willing to enforce punishment on who believes is deserving of it. Charlie is frightened of hurting others, but Alastor as her mentor can teach her to become stronger.
