I loved this soliloquy from Mariner. BTW, did people notice that the guy who ascended in season 1 turned back into an ordinary human and was the person who fell to the floor in sick bay?

Also, I checked and Skydance's acquisition of Paramount will be completed in the first half of 2025. Who knows? Maybe the new CEO, David Ellison, will undo the stupidity of the previous execs.

I was glad that Ransom got to be captain in the end. The last time Freeman was up for reassignment, they said they were going to bring in a new captain from somewhere else, and you know what? That meathead has earned it.

When you think about it, between the three of them they almost started a war between the Klingons and the Federation, almost got the earth blown up, almost killed a future leader of a Klingon fleet and almost got the prime timeline destroyed. And then they all died.

My favorite part of the Lower Decks finale:

Tendiford: What are you talking about, we don’t have romantic feelings at all!

Combine that with Mariner calling Boimler handsome and it’s clear the writers had us shippy fans in mind, giving us these valuable crumbs to work with.

I’m gonna miss this show. Engage the core, Cerritos crew. Engage the core…

For any Marinler fans who may be feeling dejected by the mutual celebration of friendship during the finale, one of my acquaintances shared this with me and a few others earlier this week and I believe it’s important to remember for these two characters:

With everything that’s transpired between them this season and even prior, it’s obvious they are more than “just friends.” That is the foundation of who they are together, not the extent.

There’s gonna be tons of jokes circulating Starfleet about how the Cerritos needs two officers for every job. Two science officers, two first officers. If they promote Rutherford to co-Chief Engineer the whole gang will be part of the redundancy.

This is my review of Star Trek: Lower Decks Season 5 Episode 10: The New Next Generation

That title is goofy.

After the hype, they just need some shield mods to fly in and fix it like any other rift? Okay then.

They've got an new permanent interdimensional rift that was never mentioned in any later time frame. Great continuity!

You can tell they haven't given Tendi or Rutherford enough to because they speed ran entire arcs for them in this one episode.

I did like they tried to incorporate stuff from most of the other episodes in the season though.

And their final send off was heartfelt and less glurgy than Disco or Prodigy did so there's that.

Except then it had to end of the damn 'I need an engage phrase' joke. Ugh! I hate those. At least everyone else hated it too

P.S. Oh and fuck them for throwing in never to be resolved ship teases at the last second.
