Yeah it’s getting old. I genuinely love new Star Trek for the most part, but the last several things I’ve seen seem to be missing the enthusiasm and hope that felt like the soul of trek for me. ESPECIALLY in Section 31. Like, sure the budgets are bigger, but the craft feels lazier.

While I am generally a supporter of the phrase 'star trek needs to be bad sometimes, that's how you know it's working', I am kinda tired of waking up to find the bad star trek has happened again.

Section 31 is bad.

Like, okay, it seems like we're all pretty much on board with the fact that this was a... questionable premise from the jump, but I went in ready to take it for what it is. I wanted to like it. It's trek, which I love, it's action, which I enjoy, and most importantly it's Michelle Yeoh playing a character that I actually really like.

Unfortunately, she's stuck in a stinker so bad not even she can save it. The plot riddled with holes, the writing is horrible, the characters are underdeveloped in the extreme, the pacing is bad, the fights– which should have been the strongest points– felt long and uninteresting (I blame poor editing; there often seemed to be a lag between the hit and the impact that made things drag). Also the twists were both overly predictable (Fuzz) or too random to really work (San).

I hate this movie so much, and I especially hate it because after seeing this shitshow, it's unlikely they're going to make any other trek films any time soon (although after seeing this, maybe that's a good thing)

posts that portray buffy as the sole aggressor in season 6 spuffy annoy me. like even if we disregard seeing red it's just not true? for example, she absolutely does beat the shit out of him in dead things, but the same episode also features the balcony scene. the sex itself in that scene is um. i'll be generous and call it dubious consent on buffy's part. also the entire time spike is telling her that none of her friends truly love her and he's the only one who could possibly understand her etc. which is classic abuser shit. and again, don't get me wrong, i'm by no means saying that the toxicity is one sided. but the idea that it was just buffy hurting spike the whole time is demonstrably false.
