From either season of Failtopia, what characters besides Hank and Mar do you think could have solid potential as the new Dark Lord/ Curse—or just as a general antagonist—in a hypothetical swap?

OOO this is a good ask!! I love theorizing about this series, especially the identity of the Mysterious Dark Curse Who Possessed Mr. Behemoth Screamith And Got Flung Aside And Died/Got Possessed(??) For Hank’s 2nd Villain Arc!!

I am 100% in on the Mystery Curse being Dr. SHOOK!! The only lore he had before being scrapped is that he canonically knew about the 4th wall!! and him being a forgotten character works flawlessly with Hank’s whole “Dan how could you forget all these characters/games you’ve played I hate you grrrr >:((” thing!! Gonna rq promote Gnome’s post on it since she explains it better and Mystery Curse SHOOK gives me life. also I think that if Dark Curse Shook is canon and Lanc comes back in S3, I can see SHOOK holding a personal grudge in a similar way Sharc-Chan did with Shrimp! Unlike Shrimp though, Lanc actually was meant to be a replacement for Shook! An unintentional replacement, but a replacement nonetheless. I think there could be some good potential for the Mystery Curse if Dan is smart enough to remember this super obscure character from the first half of S1 Episode 2 (which knowing him.. I doubt lmaoo), ALSO also I think that if S3 is modded (which it 100% will be) he could be the in-universe reason for it!! He’s a scientist so I’m sure he knows his ways to mess with the code of the world.. and him adding new stuff to this game is certainly a way to get The Incident’s attention :]

ANYWAY Kazoo Man could also be a fun twist! I don’t think it’s realistic at all but I think both the main villains of S2 being former victims of Mar could be a take with a lot of potential :0

As for hypotheticals, when Failtopia S2 first dropped and we weren’t in Neksdor yet, I was kinda hoping for C!Fail to be the Dark Curse! thank Kronkui Dan didn’t do that, but him and Mar mirroring each other would’ve been cool and I still think about it sometimes, it could be a fun AU!

And I mean even if the Mystery Curse is a new OC we haven’t seen before, that’s alright too!! either way this stupid blue piece of garbage (affectionate) is SUPER interesting to me and he got kinda robbed of his villainy!! Dan bring him back and my life is yours!!!!!! /ref

A Curse's Monologue

"Allow me to tell you a story." (Warning: Long Paragraphs Ahead)

"I was once a simple scientist. I wasted away my days in the lab, endlessly experimenting alongside a hapless assistant I had recently hired. One day, however, my research yielded results, and I discovered a terrible truth - Our entire world is a simulation, run by a YouTuber named Failboat. My assistant recognised the name, as his former saviour. He was Hank, the poor soul puppeteered by the Dark Curse Mar, broken free by none other than Failboat. To find out that same Failboat was the true source of his suffering, was a revelation like no other. Both he and I were driven mad with this knowledge, and we formulated a plan. We would work together to replicate the original Dark Curse’s attack on Miitopia, with additional steps to ensure Failboat would arrive at the Dark Lord’s castle, where we would expose him for the fraud of a god he really was, and take control of the world into our own hands. To my surprise, Hank betrayed me at this moment, seizing the power of the Dark Curse for himself, casting me aside to become “Darker Lord Lee”, as it were. After his defeat, at the hands of Mar and Failboat, I decided to make one last attempt at replicating the original Dark Curse’s grand plan, and with no backstabbing assistants in the way, it looks like I’m good to go."

Explanation for what the hell that was: On a whim, I decided to write a hypothetical cutscene monologue for Failtopia S3, where the mysterious Dark Curse that Hank kicked out of the plot in S2, returns as the main villain, and reveals himself to be Dr SHOOK, a scrapped party member/forgotten bit from S1. He was supposed to be a scientist who discovered the fourth wall, and was truly shaken by it, and this fits perfectly with Hank's motivations for his villainy in S2, finding out about the fourth wall and not wanting to be a forgotten bit. Combining these elements, I've woven a story where Hank worked with Dr SHOOK in the gap between S1 and S2, due to losing his job at the banana factory, and they discovered the fourth wall together, driving them to collaborate on a villainous plot, which was basically just copying what Mar did in S1, but adding in the Lee plotline, and sending a ghost assassin after Mar for good measure - Only for Hank to double-cross Dr SHOOK after the Screamith fight, leaving him useless for the rest of S2, and vying for revenge once more in S3.

This is so embarrassing I’m literally an adult sitting in my adult college class for adults, half-listening to the lecture because I feel physically sick to my stomach thinking about the fact that Mabel and Dipper only go home alive and happy and together in one timeline. All the other Mabels and Dippers who had to spend the bus ride home alone, or died, or suffered a fate that kept them stuck in gravity falls. This is humiliating.
