*The Hunter and the Hunted (Din Djarin x Bounty! Reader)
Summary: You were a master thief who, even when captured, always managed to escape. Maybe, that was about to change.
Warnings: smut!!! 18+ only!!! enemies to (sort of) lovers, hate sex, vaginal fingering, orgasm denial, p in v sex, unprotected sex, slight sir kink, humiliation/degradation, mean (ish) mando
WC: 1941
Notes: The Din Djarin fic is here! I had originally had something totally different planned that I ended up hating lmao, and this is fic number two, which I think turned out much better! Enjoy the filth😈
Stealing was second nature at this point. It was all you knew. At first, it was just a piece of bread from a food stand to feed your hungry sister. During the war, it was smuggling secret plans to either side; you got your paycheck regardless of who you did the job for. Now, it was taking large sums of money, treasure, and other important items from the rich. You were always on the run, though you were used to it by now. You had been caught before, but escaped every time.
This time, you were hiding out in the dense forests of Dantooine, far away from the settlements in the grasslands and hills. It was the same routine. Steal, hide out for a month or so until law enforcement and bounty hunters forgot about you, then steal again. You kind of enjoyed when you got to lay low; it gave you time to rest and plan your next move. But it was now sundown, and the lack of electricity on the planet meant that you couldn’t do much after the sun had set. So you quickly checked your traps, meant to ward off potential intruders, then settled down for the night.
You woke up to the sound of one of your traps going off. Silently, you climbed down from your bed, peeking through the window. You could see a tall figure outside, but they didn’t appear to be trapped. Instead, it seemed he purposefully set it off. Cursing under your breath, you knew this was one of the rare instances that you would have to flee. You quickly and quietly gathered your things and slipped out of the back door, clutching your blaster tightly.
Only for you to be slammed into the ground!
You pushed the figure off of you, purely running on instinct as you fired a shot at them. But the shot bounced off of the armor that you could now see. Beskar.
You cursed lowly again. Of course it was a Mandalorian. Though your traps had fooled many, and your fighting prowess defeated those you couldn’t outsmart, a Mandalorian was a completely different beast. One that you weren’t sure you could beat.
In a flash, he shot flames at you, which you skillfully dodged as you fired a few more shots at him. Annoyingly, all of your shots missed as he moved out of the way. Unexpectedly, he shot a whipcord at you. You leaped to the side, almost dodging the attack, but the cord snared your leg! You shot at him a few times in an attempt to keep him away while you tried to cut off the cord with your vibro knife, but he was too fast, pinning you to the ground and using the excess cord to bind your hands.
“Let me go,” you hissed, trying to kick at him.
But he held firm, binding you practically from head to toe. He dragged you behind him, forcing you to leave behind your temporary home and all of your epic traps (which was sad, you spent a long time making those). Though you struggled, he was stronger, and he pulled you all the way to a very old ship. He pulled you up the ramp and shut it behind you, finally letting you go in favor of going to start up the ship.
Manipulating your body within your binds, you managed to grasp your knife and cut yourself free. But it was too late to truly free yourself, for the ship took off before you could open the door. Cursing seemed to be a common theme for you today as your fist landed on the side of the ship in frustration.
Footsteps clambered down from the ladder that you assumed lead up to the controls until the Mandalorian was in front of you once more. Though you couldn’t see his face, you could feel him glaring at you.
“Listen, we both know I can’t go anywhere right now,” you reasoned, trying to get him not to tie you up again.
But he grabbed a pair of manacles and approached you, forcing you down onto a bench. You knew better than to resist.
“You’re the fucking worst,” you spat as he chained you, “I literally can’t do anything to escape.”
“But you could still try to kill me.”
For some reason, the deep timbre of his filtered voice, as well as his close proximity and the way he was able to pull you around like you weighed nothing was doing it for you. You clenched your thighs instinctively, hoping he missed it. But as the rest of your evening had proved, luck was not on your side.
He wrenched your thighs open with his large hands, and you were sure he was smirking when he said, “Is this doing it for you?”
“Of course not,” you lied, trying to pull yourself away from him.
But the Mandalorian held you steady, “You’re lying. Tell me the truth and this might end in something we both want.”
Your thighs tried to close again, but he held you open, fingers brushing higher on the clothed flesh.
“It might be doing something for me,” you mumbled, knowing that this wasn’t a situation you wanted to get out of.
Sure, he was going to turn you in for a pretty large sum of money. But why not enjoy yourself while you still could? Besides, you knew you were going to break out anyway.
“Yeah? You want this?”
“Yes.”
With your affirmation, he yanked your pants down your legs, not bothering to fully take them off.
“Not much time, we’re almost there,” he muttered, pulling off his gloves and shoving two of his fingers into you.
You cried out in pleasure as he groaned, “Fuck, you’re wet. Good thing you are, need to keep things moving.”
“Then just put your cock in me!” you snapped, “don’t waste your time with this part.”
He shook his head, “Have to. I’m too big, I’ll hurt you a bit too much if I try now.”
“Didn’t care much about hurting me when you were bringing me to your ship,” you hissed.
He sighed, curling his fingers and prodding a spot that had you arching off of the seat, “That was different, and you know it. Now shut up and let me open you up for me.”
He punctuated his sentence with a sharp thrust of his fingers, adding a third as you writhed in his grip.
“Shit,” you gasped, “fucking close.”
As soon as the words left your lips, he pulled his fingers out, making you groan in frustration.
“Have to be nice in order to get what you want.”
The remark simultaneously made your blood boil and your pussy wet. Especially when he started pulling off some of the armor that clad his legs. You tried not to gasp when he shoved his own pants down his thighs. You hadn’t believed that he really needed to open you up until this moment: he was fucking huge. The Mandalorian climbed on top of you, lining himself up with your entrance, but making no move to push in. You tried to pull him closer, but your hands were still bound.
“What the fuck are you waiting for? You said we didn’t have a lot of time!” you exclaimed, hooking your feet around his thighs in an effort to pull him closer.
The filtered chuckle that sounded from his helmet made you shiver, “Remember what I said about being nice?”
Your eyes widened, “Are you serious?!”
He pulled away from you, sending the horny parts of your brain into a sex-depraved panic, “Wait, please! Don’t go!”
He stopped his movements, but made no move to come closer. You could feel his eyes boring into you in silent triumph. He knew he had you, the sly motherfucker.
You sighed, slightly in humiliation as you caved, “Need your cock, please, sir.”
“That’s a little better,” he crooned, enjoying the way you squirmed slightly in embarrassment as he lined himself up again, “keep going.”
You cursed under your breath as you begged, “Please fuck me, sir. Never been so wet in my-oh!”
You cut yourself off as he pushed the tip into you. Even that felt big to you, and you knew it was just the beginning.
“That’s a good slut, begging for me,” he growled in your ear, but his voice softened as much as it could as he continued, “tell me if it hurts, though.”
“I will,” you promised, “please keep going.”
It felt excruciatingly slow as he filled you up. You could feel every inch, every ridge, and every vein as he entered you, and you couldn’t help the impatient, yet desperate noises that spilled from your lips.
“Told you I was big,” he remarked as he was fully sheathed inside of you.
“Guess I’ll see if you’re all talk-”
Any further insult you could’ve come up with was cut off with a sharp gasp as he pulled out almost the whole way and slammed into you.
“Oh fuck!”
Each thrust was just as intense as the last, driving you up the bench until your head was almost hitting the metal wall with every thrust. It was almost animalistic; the way his hands crushed your thighs in his strong grip, his grunts into your ear, and the way your eyes couldn’t help but roll into the back of your head. You buried your face into his shoulder, trying to muffle your moans.
“Don’t hide from me, slut,” the Mandalorian growled, one of his hands tangling in your hair and yanking you away from his shoulder.
You sobbed out in pleasure from the pain now pricking your scalp in tandem with his harsh thrusts. You honestly couldn’t speak even if you tried, your mouth permanently stuck open with your whimpers and moans.
“Not so mean when you can’t speak, hm? Maybe you would’ve been more willing to come with me if I had stuck my cock in you first,” he taunted, but you knew he was right.
You couldn’t tell him you were about to come, but the way your thighs trembled and the increased volume of your moans told him everything he needed to know.
Two of his skillful fingers rubbed your clit as the hand in your hair moved to your throat, squeezing slightly as he held you down.
That was all it took, your body spasming beneath him as you came harder than you ever had before.
“That’s it,” he murmured as you fell apart, “look so pretty like this.”
The soft compliment was unexpected, but it added to the pleasure of your orgasm. You didn’t really notice him pulling out and fucking his fist until he spilled onto your thighs. Surprisingly, he disappeared and returned with a scrap of fabric, cleaning the both of you off as best he could. Even more surprisingly, he unlocked your manacles, and you rubbed your wrists where the cold metal bit into your skin.
“Think it might be good to keep you around,” he offered simply before disappearing into the cockpit.
You felt the ship turn in a different direction as you smirked. Once again, you had avoided capture, though this time, you had a feeling you wouldn’t stealing anything else.
He came back down the ladder, having placed the ship on autopilot.
“You know, it might be good to have a business partner. Someone who knows where the criminals hide out so you can get a few more bounties,” you offered.
“I was thinking the same thing.”
You had a feeling you’d enjoy this partnership very much.

Note: Since my old masterlist is getting notes again (and I'm hosting @tbb-appreciation-week this year), I thought it's a good time to release a new version with a lot more resources. If any of you know another site or thing that it's missing from the list, let me know and I'll include it!! [Altho, I'm getting this close 🤏 to the hyperlinks limit on this thing 😆]
Note 2: To avoid tagging the 3 people from whom I got multiple resources repeatedly, I've placed 1-3 asterisks between square brackets after the links, depending on the OP. I give the respective credit to them in a legend at the end of the post.

WRITING IN GENERAL (For those who don't want to die like Stormtroopers)
SlickWrite: Completely free; online. Checks grammar, punctuation, flow, and writing style according to different settings (including fiction writing).
ProWritingAid: [RECOMMENDED] One of the most thorough online proofreader I've ever used. Although when using a free account gives extremely thorough feedback, with +20 different in-depth reports, for only the first 500 words. However, you can earn a premium account license (for a year or for life) if you get 10 or 20 new users signing up for free; (if you wouldn't mind doing so using the link above and help me earn mine, please). The settings allow you to check your writing according to your needs, from general to formal to creative. It has a bonus that you can check depending on the genre you're writing. For example, in creative, you can choose romance or sci-fiction (there are 14 sub-genre in total). And just like google docs, you can share a document, and people can view, comment or edit it too.
LanguageTool: [RECOMMENDED] Another excellent proofreader. It also has a word limit in free accounts, but if you use the add-on for Google Docs, it counts each page as a new document, so hitting the word limit is nearly impossible. It helps you to rewrite a sentence (3 a day), even if it doesn't raise any flags; it's very useful for when your sentence is grammatically correct, but it doesn't feel quite right.
Grammarly, Hemingway Editor: No so great, but they do the basic job.

Din Djarin x Reader, The Mandalorian x Reader
Summary: Your employer is pissed when you come back from getting information about a bounty with a bruised hand mark around your neck.
A/N: I kinda just wrote this one because I had a vague idea and ran with it. I think everyone is going to learn very quickly in my writing that clearly jealous/overprotective Din is my fave version of him 🙈
Warnings: reader gets choked and not in the nice way (only talks about it), overprotective Din, Din is your employer but clearly wants to be more, death and m!rder (all in the name of love) 🤗, mentions of blood and bodily harm, mentions of slave traders, fluff with a little bit of spice✨, soft!Din but also a little bit reckless!Din 👀 smut references but not written too explicitly but still MINORS DNI, business associates to lovers arc? not set at any particular point during the series.
READER does not have a specified gender, they/them pronouns used. Reader does not have a visible disability.
You’d been gone too long and Din was getting anxious.
This hadn’t been his original plan.
The contact for information regarding the bounty had unfortunately been highlighted as a previous foe of his. He’d busted them prior when their bounty puck had fell in his lap over a cycle ago.
Trust Karga to let the man redeem himself by providing intel on high-level bounties with the incentive of remaining out of the hands of the Rebellion that for some reason unbeknownst to Din, wanted his head on a stick.
Why had Din let you go and barter for the information again?
“He won’t suspect me to be a threat.”
Oh right, yeah. That’s what you said.
Except Din was probably worrying about the wrong thing because the biggest threat would be the ex-criminal you were meeting with at Mos Espa Cantina.
“Go say hi to Boba for me. Get the boy fed and I’ll be back soon.”
Din was losing his edge.
On what kriffin planet did he give in to such a request?
You were in danger and he knew it.
He knew it and he still sat in the markets with Grogu, twirling wupiupi coins in his fingers for the past half hour while his son slurped another bowl of pog soup.
Why?
Well, that was easy.
Since the past year you had been travelling with him, Din had grown to have affections for you.
To start he kept you at arms length.
Brief answers to your curious questions turned into nightly talks between your bunks. Subtle touches to guide you through busy and sometimes treacherous places turned into lingering holds in his grasp, fear of losing you to the crowds. He found himself watching you far longer than he ever had before and during times when he didn’t necessarily need to. The sound of you using the fresher while he tucked in his little green son had his heart pounding and a certain area of his armor feeling a little bit too uncomfortable.
He grew more and more protective the further you strayed without him.
He no longer wished for you to venture into dens alone to ask for information on his behalf but he couldn’t deny that you were good at it.
Better than him.
You were calm and collected.
You had a level head.
Something that he could very easily lose control over should Grogu and yourself be threatened by a contact. Though it was the one thing you had learned you could assert yourself over since Din’s change of heart.
You had a job that needed to be done and you were the best person for it.
So Din caved far quicker than he normally would with allowing you to go the cantinas and talk about bounties, pay and information. It sped up the process for Din to track them and also meant he didn’t have to deal with the unwanted chit chat that came with meeting up with Karga.
Something you enjoyed. Something that had Din’s palms itching whenever Karga took your hand to help you stand from the booth, Din’s clenched fist aching to wipe the smug look of his face when he turned back in his direction.
“I like her, Mando. She’s good at getting what she wants.”
He knew you were.
Din wasn’t sure if he was included on the list of things you wanted but you sure as hell were on his.
There was times he had a inkling.
Especially when he was feeding the kid and he caught you looking away when his eyes found you scraping away at your lunch.
Times when you would grab his hand without hesitation and pull him through midnight markets towards the sights of fireworks. Din’s heart warming at the wide smile plastered across your face, the powdery shades of red, blue and green lighting up in your eyes from the sky.
Damn, he was down bad and he had no idea what to do about it.
Technically, he was your employer.
Juggling Grogu and his job was a difficulty. Most of the time he was happy to venture out with Grogu in his carrier or pod but his bounties got, let’s say, brave in their efforts to deter him. Going so far as to aim shots towards the child. They learned his weakness and Din hated it.
So with much reluctance to start, he asked Peli if she would be interested in babysitting him for a price but of course she refused; even with the money on the table.
“Not a chance but I know just the person for the job.”
He had slid the money off the table and walked back to the ship without another word until she scrambled after him.
“Hey, hey, hey! Just hear me out, okay?” Din had sighed, turning back to her from the top of the ramp while she stood hands on her hips and a smile growing. “There’s this kid that needs a job. Call ‘em a distant relative, if you will. They’re desperate. Need money, board, food, water and they’ll make sure your little boy is taken good care of. I swear!”
“Have they taken care of children before?” Din asked inquisitively but also with a half mind to ignore Peli completely and close the ramp in response to her proposal.
“Yeah! Loads of times! They’re a professional!”
Din doubted that very much. He knew Peli’s tactics for selling him an offer and he couldn’t deny that she was good at it.
Fine, he’ll bite. Again.
“Call them.”
He just remembers Peli’s grin, your soft voice on the end of a comlink and then a speeder sounding just outside.
She had presented you to him like a rare gift and he was less than happy to receive you at the time but more than a few rotations later, you had thrown yourself in front of a bounty that had tried to commandeer his ship, their blaster aimed for Grogu in his bunk, taking a graze to the side before Din shot him dead.
You were willing to die to protect his son.
That was more than he could’ve ever asked for.
Later when Din was back at the Crest, you returned.
He had spent the past hours pacing up and down the ramp like a mad man.
Originally, he had planned to detour from the markets with Grogu over to the cantina but you had used your comlink to tell him you were already near the ship.
That was interesting because Din got back to the ship and you weren’t even here.
Which begs the question, why did you lie that you were already nearby?
Maybe he was being paranoid. His fists clenching and unclenching repeatedly, stressing about your whereabouts and the obvious reason as to why he was so stressed to begin with.
So when he’d heard your footsteps up the ramp, your voice calling for Grogu, you were both surprised to see the other staring back.
“Where have you been?” Din questioned gently but you sensed an underlining annoyance to his tone.
“I detoured, sorry,” you sheepishly smiled, holding up a bag of frog meat. “I saw a vendor selling this and I knew Grogu would be happy about it. Not to mention,” you brush past him, eyes focused solely on the sleeping child snuggling into his hammock on Din’s bunk, “it would be nice to see him not eat a whole frog for once.”
You laugh and it eases Din.
Of course he was just being paranoid.
“And the contact?” He says and you remain with your back to him, reaching your hand in carefully to tug the blanket over Grogu’s body. “He give us what we need?”
“He did,” you respond and Din satisfied, presses the button to bring up the ramp and close the hatch. The sound of it whirring so loud, in need of some oiling so much so that you had probably thought he missed your quiet words.
“What was that?” His helmet turns your way when the hatch closes with a loud creak.
“I said, somewhat.”
Okay, maybe he wasn’t being paranoid after all.
Din feels his nerves wash over him, noticing how you’re not even turning around as you address him. He takes you in. You don’t seem discomforted, angry or emotional. You’re incredibly calm.
Though that was worrying.
Normally, you came back from having debriefs with the informants with a story to tell.
“It was quite scary actually. They had this wookie with them but then you’ll never believe this guy! Stood there, blaster in hand, immense glare in his face, goes and shoves a fist in his satchel, I’m ready to throw hands and I shit you not, Din…wookie pulls out a cookie and starts crunching away at it!”
“Have you ever met a Gungan, Din? I think they’re my favourite people I’ve ever met. I mean they were all like, yousa follow us now, okeyday? Seriously! Oh gooberfish! I love them!”
“What do you mean by somewhat?”
You sigh.
This wasn’t good.
“I’m sorry, Din. They gave us the last location. I think that’s the most important thing.”
“What about if they’re solo or run with a crew? We need to know what we’re walking into, otherwise we could get bombarded the moment we land.”
This wasn’t a simple bounty. This guy was one of the worst out there.
A slave trader.
It angered Din to even think about it.
“Something happened,” he doesn’t let you tip-toe around the subject. “What are you not telling me?”
You fall silent and that’s enough for him.
Something did happen and what’s worse, you don’t want to tell him.
He moves towards you and you turn on your heel, ready to protest. Din had only meant to just embrace your shoulder gently to ease you into a conversation he thought you needed to have but the slightest wince had him drawing back almost immediately.
With his steps halted in front of you, the air cold, the crest filled with silence, Din’s visor drops instinctively to your neck.
Was it getting cool? Sure, when it was getting late. Though right now, it was still early afternoon and you never wore a scarf in Mos Espa outside the settlement and in the dunes.
“Did he touch you?”
Din has to bite back the growl threatening to crackle through his modulator.
Your head drops, eyes on the floor and the look of regret on your features make Din pray to the Maker that he’ll kill the man just for the expression on your face.
Then you unravel the scarf and Din wastes no time.
His hand had pulled your collar back gently, his shoulders stiffening at the purpled marks there.
You grimaced before trying for a smile but he sees the way your eyes plead with his, “Before you ask, it looks worse than it feels. I’m fine, Din. Let’s just go.”
He remembers you calling his name after that.
Only once because you knew as you watched him brush past you, grabbing two vibroblades from his armoury and charging down the steps towards the town, that there was nothing you could say to stop him.
And you were right because less than five minutes later, Din’s blades were impaled on the informants hands, stapling him indefinitely to the table at the cantina while onlookers ran completely, hid or dropped their heads from his view.
Then his gloved hands were on his throat, squeezing the life out of him.
An eye for an eye.
You hadn’t explained why the man had strangled you and it was pointless anyway.
He had no right to touch you.
To hell with Karga.
He’d lose an informant but that informant chose to fuck with what was his and that was worth more than any information.
When Din felt the life leave him, he dropped a number of credits to the table, looked up at the barman and walked away. His last words being, “you can keep those,” shrugging his shoulder towards the blades on the way out.
Now back at the ship, you sit rigidly on the bunk while Din gently swipes a lotion of bacta over your wound with a cotton wipe.
“I shouldn’t have let you go.”
Your eyes flicker to his visor and you know he’s evading your gaze.
You sigh and for a moment, he think you’re not going to reply until your hands gently take his, stopping him from tending to you.
He lifts his visor then, meeting your concerned eyes, your fingers intertwined with his on your lap.
“I can handle myself. You know that, right?”
Oh. So that’s what this was?
You were worried he thought you incompetent to end up in this circumstance?
Of course you would think that. He’s your employer. You only want to deliver good work for him.
That’s not all this is anymore though and Din can’t pretend and let you go on feeling like a failure especially with the tears dancing on your waterlines.
“You are very capable, mesh’la but-“ Din sighs.
How can he even begin to explain to you that he’s more angry at himself for not protecting you like he’s supposed to?
Kriff, you’re not even a bounty hunter. Trained to use a blaster as a novice, he noticed how you flinched whenever you’ve had to pull the trigger on his behalf. You’re at your calmest when you’re rocking the small boy before bed, singing lullabies to him in a hushed tone probably so Din couldn’t hear. You had no idea that he stood just above the ladder to the cockpit and listened.
You were ethereal and he couldn’t get enough of you.
That’s why it made his hands shake to even think that anyone would harm you.
He’s so caught up in his own thoughts, he misses the way your eyes widen at the term of endearment he let slip and the quick gesture as you shake yourself from how affected you are by it.
“I just…” you break through his racing thoughts, his eyes latching onto your dipped chin, eyes shadowed in the corner of the docking port, just outside his bunk. You look solemn but rather than feel dread, Din’s heart stills when he notices the flush of pink across your features.
If he didn’t know any better, he’d say you were nervous.
“I just want to be able to do more for you.”
The words play on a loop, almost like they’re colliding against the inside of Din’s helmet, repeatedly soaring through his ears again and again.
“I want to be more useful for you. Ya know?”
Useful? You think you’re not already useful?
“Sometimes I just feel like I have more to offer. I know you brought me in to be a babysitter but I can be more than that. For you.”
Was the carbonite freezing system failing or was it getting hotter in the crest?
Din felt like he needed to tug the shroud off from around his neck. The air was suffocating.
“Please say something?” Your small voice says quietly.
“You are more to me than you will ever understand, cya’rika.”
Your eyes meet his then.
Well, his visor at least and Din curses his creed for having him hide his face at a time when he wants- no needs you to see how much he means what he says.
You’re silent but the increasing rouge of your cheeks is enough to see that you understand him and that perhaps there was some truth in his suspicions.
You felt for him just as much as he felt for you.
“Din…”
And just like that, his eyes roll back momentarily hearing his name leave your tongue like a pleading prayer.
He couldn’t pretend like you weren’t affecting him too.
He needed you to know.
“Get in the bunk, ner kar’ta.”
Your body stills a moment in surprise and you don’t move.
Maybe he misjudged or maybe he’s being too forward but then you stand and without taking your eyes away from him, you seat yourself on the side of his bunk.
Waiting for him.
Waiting for further instruction just like you’ve been doing ever since you walked onto his ship.
One thing he realised he misjudged.
All those times you obeyed every command, it was never out of the need for his money.
You never questioned him, never refused an order but with Din and the matter of Grogu’s safety, it was never a request and that’s all it was to start.
It was just a matter of his sons safety until he realised he loved you too.
Din stands and steps in front of you, you look up at him as he tugs the shroud from around his neck loose.
He notices how your eyes drop to his waist, evading the reveal of his tanned skin while you’re positioned below him. He wraps the material a couple of times before placing the fabric over your eyes.
You don’t move.
You don’t flinch.
You just allow him to remove one of your senses, leaving nothing but darkness over your sight. His heart aches at the trust you have in him, allowing him to render you vulnerable before him.
He ties it behind your head, making sure it’s not too tight as to hurt you.
He’s not the same type of man as the monster from earlier today.
His fingers itch at the memory and he shrugs his gloves off, setting his bare fingers against the cold metal of his helmet.
You await patiently and he watches as you jerk your head slightly at the familiar sound of his helmet releasing.
The sound you’ve only ever heard from a nearby room, hiding away from him when you brought him supper.
You await patiently while Din removes each piece of armor, setting it aside.
Then there’s just silence.
Until you hear his knees hit the ground in front of you and a warm breath hits your neck, a shudder running up your spine.
“Is it okay if I show you something?”
His whispers hit your ear drum in the most delightful way.
You nod dreamily.
Then you feel rough, warm lips graze your neck.
If heaven was travelling at light-speed through space, it was right here and now with Din’s lips travelling along your jawline, mapping out the path to seal against your lips. He tugs gently, coaxing you out of the shy shell you had created when you realised the butterflies he made you feel when you first met had more to do with how attracted you were to him than to how intimidating most people found him.
Every step he took on each planet you travelled, Din carried a powerful aura that most people cowered away from but it only drew you to him more.
You knew Din was strong.
You knew not many could beat him in a fight, yourself included but that was the whole point.
Din would never abuse his strength over you.
Ever.
Though, you wish he would, in special circumstances.
Like right now.
“How do you feel, cya’re?” Din inquires breathlessly, lips pressing soft kisses down your throat while you bite back the urge to be vocal.
“I wish we’d done this sooner,” you say uneasily, your hands gripping the bunk below you.
Din’s chuckle hits your ear, reverberating against your ear drum exquistively.
“Din?” He hears your voice rattle with every nestle of his lips stroking over your skin.
“Yes, mesh’la?” He raises his head, lips brushing the underside of your jaw, watching your lips turn up into a small smirk. Though you couldn’t see his expression returning yours, his adoring smile awaited your next words patiently.
“You killed him, didn’t you?”
You feel a thumb smooth over your bottom lip.
“He deserved it,” you shake your head slightly, fighting away an amused smile on your lips that he quickly wipes away, replacing with an expression of longing when his lips meet your ear.
“You’re mine.”

pre ANH au where Din and Luke meet on Tatooine, have their summer romance and all that, and when Din inevitably has to leave Luke gives him a japor snippet (“It’s a good luck charm,” Luke says with a smile. “I’ve seen how reckless you get on your bounties.”) and Din thinks it’s a little silly, but he lets Luke put it around his neck anyway.
It is only a few days later that Din hears about the Lars family, about the fire, about how they never found a third body.
And then Din just…never takes that japor snippet off.
For years he wears it, the sound of the japor clinking against the beskar of his mythosaur pendant becoming so familiar to him that he panics when it falls silent. He reaches for his neck when he cannot hear that ringing sound, reaches for the japor, desperate to make sure it’s still there, that he did not lose what he has left of the man he would never really stop loving. Even when Din is dying, when he takes off his mythosaur pendant to give to Cara, when he begs her to take it, to bring this child he knows nothing of to safety, he keeps the japor close to his slowing heart.
And somehow, Din lives.
(“It’s a good luck charm,” Luke says with a smile.)

not to be on about this again a year and a half after the fact, but boba fett really should've returned in mando s3
not just to reclaim the 2 episodes he lost from his own show, not just bc temuera deserves so much more from lucasfilm in general, but also because it just made simple narrative sense
din and boba almost died on the battlefield together in mos espa. after all that, u really expect me to believe that din "i'm with you till we both fall" djarin wouldn't have reached out to fett for aid in reclaiming mandalore? u really expect me to believe that boba "you really believe all that bantha fodder? good" fett wouldn't have 1.) thrown a fit about how stupid this plan is, and 2.) shown up anyways and blasted half the stormtroopers to kingdom come from his firespray
AND ANOTHER THING as a diasporic mando who already struggles with his identity as the clone/son of jango fett, how powerful would it have been for the son of the man who helped the empire rise to power to walk onto mandalore IN HIS FATHER'S ARMOR to help destroy the last remnants of that empire
favreau and filoni ur fired, let me write star wars instead you fuckers
#not me on my bobadin agenda again#BUT EVEN PLATONICALLY IT MAKES SENSE I'M SO BAFFLED BY THE WRITING CHOICES OF S3#anways like comment and share or whatever the influencers say these days#boba fett#din djarin#the mandalorian s3#my posts#something something if din called boba would answer

“the armorer is evil and is working with moff gideon”
the armorer watched the empire slaughter the original covert on nevarro and absolutely refused to abandon her forge out of respect for the dead. she then had to build an entirely new covert from the fucking dust (and paz vizsla, i guess) which probably took her YEARS to do. not to mention, she has had to relocate her entire. fucking. forge. THREE TIMES in the process. she’s also ruthlessly decked imps and pirates (who were hired by the empire) several times as we’ve seen. yes, she’s strict with din, but who wouldn’t be? she witnessed the entirety of the covert lay down their lives for him and grogu. and even after all was said and done, she welcomed din, grogu, AND bo with open arms once they were reedeemed. i think it would be so incredibly out of character for her to be this scheming mastermind working for the empire. she’s someone who embodies such strong heart and discipline; she’s an amazing representation of their strain of mandalorian culture. tldr: don’t EVERR talk about my WIFE that way.

You could only take your first deep breath when Din was finally back in your sight. He trudged down the boarding ramp of Boba Fett’s vessel, a stark contrast to the confidence with which he carried himself on Karthon upon facing Mayfeld. The Imperial armor he wore was no doubt responsible for that.
These thoughts were shoved to the back of your mind as you closed the gap between you with hurried steps. Your greeting was breathless in your hardly concealed desperation. “Hey.” You set your hand on his shoulder that was down a pauldron, a substitution for the embrace you so badly wished to give him. You knew better with the eyes of others watching you. “How’d it go?”
Din took a gentle grasp on your wrist and subverted your expectations in a way that made your eyes go wide. He dropped your hand from his shoulder and, despite the watching eyes, wrapped his arms around you, his gloved palms splayed upon your back. He was tense with a breath you could feel in the heaviness of his shoulders as you held him back, but he released the tension with a sigh of relief as his fists gently closed around the material of your tunic.
He was grounding himself back to you, and as sweet as that feeling was, it was also harrowing. Something had gone wrong. Your heart sunk into the depths of your stomach. Have we lost all hope of getting Grogu back?
“We got the coordinates.” Din spoke as if he had just read your mind. His voice was quiet, but not enough to give anything away.
You exhaled in your own relief, your eyes closing as you held him tighter. “Thank the stars.” You paused to see if he would reveal what was behind the invisible weight on his shoulders, and when he didn’t, you spoke once again. “What else?”
Din’s chest inflated with a breath. “That’s it. The mission’s done.” He pulled away from you but kept you close, gesturing with his helmeted head back to the ship behind him. “I’m letting Mayfeld change before I do the same.” His rasp slightly gave out as he said the words, a tell only you could identify.
You gave him another once-over and moved closer to him. “Are you hurt?”
“No.” Din looked away from you, one of his gloved hands holding his fist as he let out a gentle exhale. “Just… had a run-in with some pirates.” He rolled his shoulders and tapped the armorless one you had been holding earlier. “This armor isn’t as strong as beskar.”
You weren’t fully convinced, but his logic tracked. There was no doubt a fight without his beskar would leave him sore, especially if he had forgotten about the fact he wasn’t wearing it. “How many pirates?”
Din huffed, his hands falling back to his sides. “Let’s just say it was more than one.”
You managed to chuckle with him as you nudged his bare shoulder with your own. “That explains all those explosions.”
The visor of Din’s Imperial helmet gave you an evident once-over. “You weren’t near them, were you?”
“No, not at all.” You couldn’t help smiling at his concern for you. “The three of us were just surprised by them at the lookout.”
Din nodded. “Good.”
Something still wasn’t right, and it hung between you like a dense storm cloud. Even as Din’s visor looked beyond you, his gloved hand found yours, and he held your fingers in his grasp. The move was subconscious, another act of grounding that he had to do.
Yet, he still wouldn’t tell you why.
You wanted to believe, and could truly believe, that it was just the longing for Grogu, and the guilt that had been eating away at him ever since Tython. That was what had kept him up at night whenever you attempted rest before this mission. In his eyes, it was his own failure, and it always would be until he could make things right.
Now, he had the coordinates. You all did. You had the chance to help him make things right, but that darkness didn’t disappear from him. In fact, it was more intense than before.
“How was Mayfeld?” You hoped the question would ease the tension somehow, or at least help you get to the root of whatever Din was hiding from you. “I almost thought he wouldn’t make it back with the way he was talking before you left.”
Din tensed. So, it had something to do with Mayfeld. That didn’t surprise you; it only made you kick yourself for not thinking of it earlier. “It was… better than expected.” Din nodded and looked at you again. “He wasn’t as bad as I thought he’d be.” He gave his head a quick tilt to the side. “Most of the time, at least.”
“Yeah?” You offered him a small smile, hoping it would either dispel or reveal the invisible weight he held upon his shoulders. “I bet that bonding time spent inside the juggernaut wasn’t awkward at all.”
That at least got a chuckle out of Din. “Yeah. It was…” He trailed off, his visor looking into the distance again. His grasp on your hand pulsated, as if he couldn’t decide whether to hold on or let go.
You gave him time, but soon, your concern got the best of you. Your voice was a whisper as you called for him. “Din?”
Din’s visor found your gaze, though he couldn’t speak before someone else did. “Good work back there,” Cara’s voice announced from behind you. You closed your eyes and took a breath, forcing yourself to mask your worry for now as you turned to face her. She nodded at Din. “Destroying the facility was a good call.”
“It wasn’t mine.” Din gestured to the ship behind him. “It was Mayfeld’s.”
Cara raised an eyebrow. “Huh.” Her tone revealed her genuine surprise. “Well, he really has some sharpshooter in him, I’ll give him that. It was a nice shot.”
“It was.”
“You made it easy for us.” It was Fennec who now joined the group, and she rested the end of her rifle against the ground to lean on it as she offered Din a nod of her own. “The three of us didn’t have to do much.”
“I saw your shots when we made our exit.” Din’s hand had dropped yours when Cara approached, but it remained busy at his side, pulling tight into a fist before relaxing again. “We couldn’t have made it without them.”
Your jaw tightened at that. The same thought had run through your mind whilst you were helping Cara and Fennec shoot down the Imperials. It’s what made your shots even more lethal.
“Mando!” Mayfeld’s voice was the one that grabbed everyone’s attention that time. Din practically whipped over his shoulder to face Mayfeld, who had changed back into the clothes he had been given at the beginning of the mission. “You’re good to go.”
Din tilted his helmet. “That was fast.”
Mayfeld huffed. “Yeah, that’s ‘cause I don’t have a thousand layers of armor to exchange.” He patted Din’s shoulder as he passed him by, and you were shocked to see that Din wasn’t bothered by it. “Good luck getting that off. It’s harder than it was to put on, and I didn’t think that was possible.”
Din snorted, and after a moment’s hesitation in which you were certain he shuffled towards you, he walked back towards the ship. You watched him the whole way, your jaw circling as you read him the best you could. Based on his interaction with Mayfeld, that wasn’t the key, after all. There was something far, far worse he was hiding, but you couldn’t think of what it would be.
There was a gentle hand on your shoulder, and as you turned to face it, you met Cara’s comforting glance. “So,” she began, clearly trying to get your mind off Din for the time being, “I heard the mission was a success.”
You cracked a genuine smile at that. “Yes. We have the coordinates.” Your gaze found Mayfeld’s and you nodded at him. “Thank you for your help.”
Mayfeld held up his hands in surrender. “Hey, it wasn’t really my choice.” Cara rolled her eyes as you lifted an eyebrow in warning. “But, really, it was mostly Mando. I just…” he paused, stalling as his gaze looked off to the side, “supported him.”
Your brow furrowed. Before you could interrogate him, Cara continued the conversation, remaining curt with him so as to not give him any true authority—despite how well the mission went. You were too lost inside your own mind to pay any attention to what they were saying. Mayfeld’s behavior was almost as odd as Din’s.
There was something you weren’t being told, and Din wasn’t the only one keeping it a secret.
Only the chiming of the comm link on your belt could pull you from your worried reverie. You stepped out of the circle the group had made and held the comm close to your lips. “Din?” Your gaze pierced through the open hatch of Boba’s ship. “Is everything okay?”
There was a pause before Din spoke. “Can you come help me?” Your heart shattered at the way his voice shook even through the comm link. “I… need help re-suiting.”
That was fair. You had been a part of the routine in helping Din remove and re-suit his beskar for so long that it was no surprise he needed your help to do it now—but something about it still felt different. That wasn’t a request. It was a plea. “Of course. I’m on my way.” You hung the comm link back on your belt and turned your head towards the group. “I’ll be back.”
As you started to walk towards the ship, Cara shot a lighthearted joke towards you. “You two better not take long! We’ve got an Imp to hunt!”
You lifted your middle finger without looking back at her, even if the joke managed to temporarily dispel the darkness from your racing thoughts. You smiled and shook your head as you lowered your hand, but as soon as you stepped into Boba’s ship and caught sight of Din within its depths, every sensation of warmth within you died.
For the first time since you met him many years ago, you were looking upon a pair of brown eyes instead of a dark visor.
You wanted to cover your eyes, turn your back on him, do anything to keep yourself from breaking Din’s Creed, but there was no point. The damage had been done. All you could do was stare, your gaze no doubt leaving a fiery trail across the skin of his face as you observed every inch of it.
One thousand emotions hit you all at once; the grief of knowing what Din had lost in doing this, the elation of finally getting to put a face to your heart, the concern of looking into an empty gaze, the blazing warmth of realizing he was even more handsome than you had imagined. It was dizzying.
The only thing that could cut through the noise of your own mind and heart was Din’s shattered statement. “I can’t do it.”
You frowned, then looked at what he was holding. His helmet sat between his gloved hands, the empty visor facing you. Din’s own gaze was studying it, watching as the metal rocked between his trembling hands. Your furrowed brow loosened.
Din thought he had already broken his Creed before you even stepped inside the ship.
You took a cautious step towards him. “Din…”
“The Creed says I can’t put this back on again.” You watched the corner of Din’s mouth pull tight before it relaxed again. There was a place under his eye that began to twitch, and you wished more than anything that you knew the tells of his face just as you knew them on the rest of his body. “I’ve made my sacrifice.”
You continued to close the gap between you with careful steps. “All you did was exchange one helmet for another, Din. And not for long, either. You did what you had to for the foundling in your charge.”
Din shook his head, his jaw pulled tight as his gaze rose to meet yours again. You froze, the electricity of it shocking you whole, despite the devastation you found there in the depths of his brown eyes. “No.” He paused, swallowing hard as he focused on his helmet again. “They saw me.”
You kept your voice soft as you pressed on. “Who saw you?”
Din slowly fell back onto the chair that was behind him. His gaze never once left the helmet, as if looking anywhere else would sever his sole tether to the galaxy. “Everyone in that room saw me.”
You were finally close enough to touch him, but you knew better than to reach for his face, as badly as you wanted to. Instead, your hand covered one of his on his helmet, and you knelt down to get closer to his level. Your quiet comfort allowed Din to explain himself.
“There was a terminal that held the coordinates to Gideon’s cruiser. It required a facial scan.” Din lifted his thumb to caress one of your fingers the best he could. “I had no other choice. It was either that or…” He couldn’t even bring the thought to life.
“You made the right one.” You nodded at Din, pleased to at least earn his gaze once again.
“I know.” Din’s voice lowered to an empty whisper as that place beneath his eye twitched again. “But that doesn’t make it any easier.”
You took a deep breath to keep yourself composed for his sake. “I understand.” Your free hand ran over the top of his helmet that continued to sit in his lap. “Removing your helmet to save a foundling, though… is that not the highest honor of your people?”
Din hesitated, and he blinked a few times before nodding. You smiled in encouragement.
“This wasn’t you removing your helmet for a simple pleasure or for an escape from who you are, Din.” You took his hand from his helmet and held it between both of yours. “This was you doing everything you could to save someone in your care.” You gave his hand a gentle squeeze. “Someone you love.”
Din’s eyes closed at that, and he squeezed them shut more and more as he tucked his head towards the shoulder that bore his mudhorn pauldron. His voice shook again as he spoke. “I hope he’s okay.”
“It won’t be long now until we have him back.” You ran your thumbs over his hand. “Thanks to you.”
Din reopened his eyes and found your gaze again. For a moment, his lips curled up in a small smile, one that was notable enough to make your stomach fill with butterflies as you witnessed it for the first time. It was short-lived, however, as he soon began to frown and lose himself in the depths of your own gaze. His voice was a pained whisper. “I’m sorry.”
You shook your head at that. “For what? You’ve done nothing wrong.”
Din took a hold of one of your wrists and guided your hand to the side of his face. As soon as you touched the warmth of his skin, he leaned into your palm, his eyes closing for a moment before he faced you with what felt like tangible despair. “I wanted it to be you.”
He didn’t have to explain it. He had told you enough times over the years for you to know. He had always wanted you to be the first to see him again, and he was intent on making that happen after this quest was over.
You pieced your own shattered heart together and smiled at him. “And here I am.” Your thumb ran over the skin under his eye that had twitched before, and based on the way his eyes welled with tears he no doubt refused to shed, you were able to determine what that tell of his meant. “I’m still seeing you.”
Din’s gaze gave you a nervous once-over. The warmth returned to your body upon getting to see it, rather than having to rely on the movement of his helmet. “What do you think?”
You smiled more and gently set aside his helmet with your free hand. “Can I show you?”
His gaze flickered to your lips before he nodded with another small smile of his own. You rose and took your place upon him, one that was as familiar as his lips were—only this time, it would finally be different. There would be no dent across his nose from the lip of his helmet, and no wrinkles in the skin around your eyes from a cloth pulled tight across them. Instead, it would be you and him, as pure and as perfect as you were meant to be.
You held onto him with all the same desperation he had just shown you, one of your hands cupping the side of his jaw and neck as the other wound itself tight in the hair that flowed freely from his head. Your mouth slotted over his time and time again and with each breath you shared, you intended to pull the darkness from within him, as if you could make a sacrifice as great as his own by taking away all his pain. You tilted his head back further to deepen it, intensifying every feeling until it could overwhelm whatever lies and harsh truths tore at his mind.
You only pulled away from each other when your lungs demanded it, your lips lingering as you relished in the last bit of sweet intoxication you could get. You opened your eyes to see Din’s still closed, as if he too was savoring the moment. His eyes began to flutter open when you ran your nails over the skin of his neck, guiding your hand to his cuirass.
“What did that tell you?” Your voice was breathy from both your lack of air and your sweet desire.
The corner of Din’s mouth rose before he answered in the same tone. “That I made a mistake making you wait this long for me.”
You returned his smile. “You haven’t made a single mistake.” You leaned down to pick his helmet up and tucked it under your arm. “Especially not today.”
Din’s gaze clouded with a brief spell of darkness that faded the moment you lifted your free hand to brush his hair away from his face.
“You’re everything I dreamed of and more, Din.” You kissed his forehead, smiling against his skin when he physically relaxed underneath your touch. When you pulled away, you faced him with sweet severity. “You will always be worth the wait.”
Din smiled, a sight so breathtakingly beautiful you never wanted to let it go—but Din was eager to share in your love again as his hand cupped the back of your neck and pulled you back to him. This time, he was the one who devoured you, his lips remaining on yours while his hands explored places that left you flustered.
You only broke apart when you heard a familiar voice yell from outside the ship. “Hey, kids! I said don’t take long!” Cara’s words made the two of you pull away instantly, and once you were sure she wasn’t looking inside the ship, you laughed with one another. “We’ve got other things to do!”
“We’ll be right out!” You managed to compose your laughter enough to get the words out, and with a deep breath, you fell back into severity. You took the helmet from under your arm and held it between your hands. “You may not be able to do this, but…” you paused and lowered the helmet over Din’s head, “I can do it for you.”
Din rested his helmet against your forehead, his hands holding your wrists to bring your hands to his chest. After a long pause, he spoke with a voice that was strained with meaning. “Thank you.” He gave your wrists a gentle squeeze. “I love you.”
You beamed at him. “I love you, too.” You added a kiss to his visor and sat up more. “I’ll always be here for you, Din. You know that.”
“I do.” Din eased his hands upon your waist and lifted the two of you from the chair. “That’s why I commed you.”
You only smiled wider at his words, your gaze searching the depths of his visor for the brown warmth hidden beneath it as he ran his hand over your back. Not everything was resolved; it was never that easy. Din would be wrestling with this day for a long time. But that wasn’t the point.
The point was that his sacrifice was given even more meaning, and he understood that you saw him in a way that went beyond mere sight. For now, that would be enough, just as he would always be enough for you.

DESCRIPTION: When you get injured by a bounty, Din takes you to Mos Espa to get help from an old comrade. AKA; Din gets jealous when he finds out you and Boba have history.
WARNINGS: Discussions of injuries involving blood, descriptions of jealous behaviour, references to smut 🔞 but not explicitly written, references to gun use (ahem blaster use!), mentions thoughts of torture (just readers imagination), kissing, mentions of panic underwater, Din being clingy af, established relationship with Din, past history with Boba, a sprinkle of angst, unrequited love.
Dividers by @saradika-graphics 🚀✨ cover photos from Pinterest
READER does not have a specified gender, they/them pronouns used. Reader is in an established romantic relationship with Din. Reader has parent relationship with Grogu (no gendered title used). Reader does not have a visible disability and has hair long enough to be pulled over their shoulder.
“I know this one,” Boba speaks, his eyes on your unconscious body, focused intently on your pained expression in a deep slumber. Din lifts his gaze, analysing the fellow bounty hunter uneasily. Din’s gloved hand rests instinctively on top of yours, laid flat against your stomach, his eyes darkening behind his helmet, unable to read his comrades face behind his own green weathered mask.
“In what regard?” Din speaks, his own tone scaring him.
Boba’s shoulders relax with a sigh as he looks you over again, “Little troublemaker,” Din hears a hint of playfulness in his words, a hidden note of admiration.
“We’ve crossed paths before. Can’t say I’m surprised to see them in such a predicament,” Boba gestures to your mangled shin and bruised shoulder. “How did this happen?” He asks and Din’s taken aback slightly by his sharp, disapproving tone.
“My bounty. Chased him down an alley, tried to corner him but he had allies. We were cornered and well…they…,” he runs a thumb over the back of your hand, his tone holding a hint of regret, “Well, they stopped him but-“
“Not without injury,” Boba responds, his voice a pitch lower, Din’s head turning once again, apprehending his friend’s sudden anger. Though was Boba’s anger directed towards the bounty or Din himself for putting you in harms way? He couldn’t tell.
“We should get them into the bacta tank immediately,” he lifts his head then, meeting Din’s piercing gaze. Though neither of them could see the others expression, Boba still cocks his head at the mandalorian, a wry smile playing on his lips. “You can trust me, my friend. I have no quarrel with your companion.”
Din hesitates, looking to the end of the room at the large metal windowed casket. “I’d feel more at ease if you explained your history,” he speaks, his head turning back to Boba who adjusts the blaster in his hand almost uncomfortably.
“Not my business to tell. I’d sooner face your wrath than theirs,” he nods to your face again, soft pained murmurs leaving your mouth now. Din squeezes your shoulder very gently, Boba watching him murmur sweet assurances in your ear, his cheeks warming underneath his helmet.
There’s no saying how long the two men stood hovering over your body silently, almost both deliberating how to move you to the bacta tank. Or more so not “how” but “who” would actually carry you there. Din found his hands slipping under your thighs and back, hoisting you against his chest gently, your head falling against the cold metal of his chest piece. You mumbled as he carried you over to the middle of the room. It took a moment for heavy footsteps to follow behind him, a gloved hand tapping buttons to open the glass chamber. Din laid you down into it while Boba watched him, analysing his movements with intrigue.
"If you can hear me, cya'rika," Din softly speaks causing Boba's fingers to stiffen above the control panel, "you are safe. This device should help the healing process. I will be close by. Do not fear. We are with trusted friends.” Din lifts his head almost seeking confirmation for the latter from Boba who nods once firmly. Din takes your hands in his as soft breaths leave your pained lips, he places your hands so that they are overlapping on your chest and then mindlessly taking the breathing mask Boba was holding out to him, placing it over your mouth and nose securely. Din forces himself to pull back from his protective hold against your hands, allowing the capsule to encase your body, filling quickly with the fluid as Boba's configures from the panel.
"How long does it take?" Din asks, his voice weak and rough, his eyes watering at the sight of your body so close yet feeling so far from him.
"Depends upon the injury," Boba starts, his eyes darting between the two of you; the Mandalorian he had come to known as a trusted ally and the trusted ally he had come to know for far more in his heart. "For this injury, perhaps an hour or less. Until then, we can wait in the throne room."
"I will not leave their side," the Mandalorian's words come out thick and unable to be coerced otherwise.
Boba sighs, his eyes back on your injury, the flesh of your ligament already re-growing, "they would not wish for you to stand by and wait. They'll be angry upon awakening if I know anything about their attitude towards injury in battle. There will be an air of shame-"
"It is not THEIR fault," Din argues, feeling an overwhelming sense of grief for allowing this to happen.
"I am not placing blame on anyone," Boba asserts, his voice lowering an octave to indicate to his old comrade that he means no threat. "But as I mentioned before, the...troublemaker and I have history. I know this. They would want you to take care of yourself while the opportunity allows it so that they can heal and awaken when the time is right."
Din shakes his head, his fists clenching, his visor focused solely on you and you alone.
He knows Boba is right.
You never did fare well when you got injured during a bounty hunt. You were self-deprecating, kicking yourself that you could have done better. It took the soft side of Din to convince you that you were good enough to fight alongside him. HIM who you called the best of the best, "a true warrior that I could only long to compare to. The fight is your religion. Your creed has taught you well." With all the sweet words of praise you've whispered to Din both in casual passing and intimately in the dark confines of your shared bunk, Din can only try to offer you the same but where he may excel in battle, he lacks in performance of admiration.
One which he vows to improve upon when you awaken.
"Fine," Din responds just when Boba's defeated steps move towards the large entryway.
"We will wait."
Some time later...
"Din..." you had started, grasping for your second blaster at your thigh. "There's another one-"
You are awaken abruptly with a jolt at the blaring sound of blaster fire colliding in your head. Your eyes widen, stinging and only allowing a fog of vision when you thrash suddenly, your hands thrusting forward, palms hitting a wall that you shove at mindlessly.
You're in water.
Or at least some sort of fluid.
Your movements are slowed. Your eyes blinking uncomfortably. There's some sort of mask over the lower half of your face, allowing air bubbles to escape above you.
You try to calm, your heart beating unsteadily.
One minute you were being shot at, the next you were here.
Where the kriff was Din? Grogu?
You moan out loud, trying to make some noise, your palms attempting to hit the wall blocking you from escaping.
Did they get hurt? Did Grogu get taken? Or were you captured and now laying in some sort of torture device awaiting your inevitable demise? What if Grogu was being dissected and Din was being beaten to death in the next room?
Fuck no. Calm. Calm down.
You close your eyes. Allowing your arms to drop slowly in the surrounding liquid.
Jumping to conclusion. Panicking solves nothing. I think better when I'm relaxed, you tell yourself, slowly but surely letting your fingers graze the surrounding hard bubble finding sharp edges beside your body.
There has to be a way out from the inside, you think.
Just when the panic returns, thoughts of Din hanging unconscious nearby or your sweet son laying on a ice cold table, your finger slips on something square and hard, causing a red light to blare in the liquid and a sudden suction sound to drag all the fluid down from your body. Your hands move quickly then, yanking at the mask over your mouth, the wall that you now realise was a windowed case, slides open. You cough, your hands going instinctively to your abdomen and leg, fingers smoothing over your skin exposed by the gaping rips in your clothing where the shots burnt through.
Healed.
Your eyes widen. Not a single mark of evidence that you were even shot to shit to begin with. Your neck snaps up, your eyes blinking away the remaining fluid taking in the room.
Wait...I know this place. Don't I? That banner.
Two banners hang from the stone ceiling above a large arched entry baring an embroidered signet you're all too familiar with.
"Well fuck," you say out loud, a grin plastering your lips.
You swing your legs off the side of the strange coffin-like device, your eyes overlooking it with a quirked brow. You slip off the side, wobbling slightly on numb legs, pins and needles in your feet as you wiggle your toes to rid of the discomfort.
Your legs carry you drunkenly from the room and under the large moss green banners, allowing one last grin to grace your features. You're not taking any notice of the water staining the stone floor with puddles as you pass through familiar rooms, carrying your fatigued body past a simple throne. You roll your eyes at it momentarily, a smirk on your lips when you stop at the sight in front of you.
Two visors snap to attention in your direction, standing in alarm at your unexpected presence.
“Huh,” you say with intrigue, overlooking the two men opposite each other at a table.
Grogu in the middle stuffing his face with soup, making a squeal of happiness when he sees you.
“This is a sight I never thought I’d see,” you murmur loud enough for them to hear, approaching the table while they both round it, Din more hurriedly than the green armoured man hovering near his abandoned chair.
Your full attention taken by the green bean making grabby hands your way, your smile gracing your features as Din manoeuvres your wet hair from your cheek and tucks it behind your ear.
“Are you well?” He speaks, gaze flashing to Boba whose busy looking over your exposed leg and stomach.
“I am, hey baby,” you soothe when approaching your small son, lifting Grogu from his high chair and bouncing him on your side when he takes your face into his hands, babbling a mix of mando’a and nonsense.
“Yes I’m okay, bean. I feel a lot better now. Please don’t worry,” your head lifts but it’s not Din who catches your attention, it’s the other armoured man, stood to your left, his wandering gaze lifting to your own.
“Boba,” you nod and he does the same back.
“Star-shine,” he speaks back and you don’t miss the way Din’s body turns rigid at the pet name.
You scoff, stifling a chuckle, “can’t remember the last time you called me that.”
Din’s hand slips to your side, gently tugging you further into him, his beskar cold to the touch against your wet skin.
You look up at him in surprise.
Din rarely instigated affection in the presence of others. It was then you realise he hadn’t turned his head from Boba, staring him down through his visor.
You’re distracted by what seems to be the growing tension between both men until you feel softness sliding over your bare shoulders, hands gently tugging the material around your body.
You smile.
“Fennec,” your body turns to meet a familiar grin, hands sliding around your wet hair to pull it over the blanket.
“You caused quite the worry,” she notes with amusement, her eyes glancing between the two warriors and back to you with raised brows.
Your cheeks burn when you realise neither helmet has turned back to you. Though unable to see their expressions, you had a feeling you didn’t need to.
“Din?” You try and sure enough the visor tilts back to you immediately, his stiff body relaxing and moulding into yours again. His fingers clutch your side.
“Mesh’la?” You look down uncomfortably at your wet clothes but before Din can respond, his shoulders lifting in realisation of what you’re asking, another voice cuts in.
“The trunk in your chambers houses some of your wares,” you mentally groan, watching Din’s body stiffen again.
Boba continues without a beat, “I’ll escort you.”
Fennec hides a smile when Din incapacitates.
“We’ll manage,” his hand taking yours possessively and wandering off towards a hallway just behind.
Fennec calls after, “on the right,” watching you both disappear and watching you get dragged into the room with a bewildered expression at the steel back in front of you.
She turns and looks back at the green helmet, dropping his visor from your direction back to her raised brows, “really?”
"It's been awhile," you say without a beat, tugging the long leather jacket over your figure, a shiver running up you while you stand outside in front of the palace.
“I didn’t think you would return,” the aged modulator responds.
Boba turns from his stance in the middle of the path up to the palace gate, his visor focusing in on you.
You allow a small smile to grace your lips as you walk to his side, watching the people of Mos Espa go about their daily markets.
“Not of my own choice anyway,” you tease and smile to yourself when the older man falls silent, his visor back on the market stalls.
Din had gone to fetch the Crest. You had offered to walk the short distance to it just on the outskirts of the town but your still uneasy figure had Din retaliating immediately and with a pressured look at Fennec who stood near the entryway to your room smiling curiously, he ordered her to watch over you while he went to retrieve the ship.
That was only a few minutes ago.
You left Fennec to babysit Grogu much to her narrowed gaze at the small child and her initial refusal. You had stifled an amused laugh when you left them to retrieve some fresh clothes and found her walking him around the palace rooms showing him artefacts from travels and battles. It gave you the opportunity to slip away to get some air. Grateful to have a moments peace since being encased in that tomb you now learned was a bacta tank.
“Thank you, by the way,” you spoke up, noticing the way Boba’s shoulders relaxed slightly under his rigid armor. “You didn’t have to help but you did. I’m grateful and in your debt if you ever need anything.”
“I think we’re past owing each other debts whenever one of us saves the others life. Would you not agree, star-shine?”
You smile slips only momentarily, “you’re angry at me?”
“No,” it comes out rushed and slightly raised. Boba falls silent a moment and you know he’s deliberating the delivery of his words before speaking them aloud. As was his nature as ruler of Mos Espa.
“Star-shine,” Boba spoke and you couldn’t mistake the way it shook slightly.
You turned looking to him.
“I know you are a wanderer. Content with roaming the planets to your own leisure but please do not forget that you have a home here in Mos Espa. In our home.”
He punctured the word “our” and you swear you saw the way his helmet tipped to the silver one you were now well aware of looming behind you silently.
Boba clears his throat, “at least, remember to visit when you have some time. I know Fennec would be grateful to see you. She’s very fond of you.”
You smile.
You understand what he means.
This isn’t about Fennec.
“I’ve missed you too, Boba,” you smile and you watch as his visor turns to the bustling market nearby like before, “and again thank you for answering Din’s distress call.” You turn your head, meeting the silver visor now looking down at you, a gloved hand seeking yours, “and allowing me use of your bacta tank. I know how important that device is for you. You look well.”
Boba turns back then and you notice the way his previously hunched shoulders relax slightly at your informality of which he wasn’t sure he could share with you.
“And you?” Boba inquires, his visor dancing between you and Din. “You are well?”
You are happy and safe with this Mandalorian companion you seek refuge with?
You nod, a peaceful expression on your face as your fingers intertwine with the gloved one tightening in your grip.
“You have history,” Din mentions, trying to seem nonchalant about prying for the information he so desperately needs to know.
You were both back in hyperspace now. The reunion pleasant but short-lived. You felt a small ache in your chest, missing the familiarity of the planet you were speeding away from but there was a relief too being back on the Crest.
“Somewhat,” you respond with a shrug, rocking Grogu to sleep in your arms, his small green hand clutching your shirt.
“He wouldn’t tell me how you knew each other,” Din added, pressing buttons to get the ship into auto pilot.
You smile, “probably didn’t want to upset you.”
Din turns in his chair then, swiftly, his boots stopping the full turn harshly against the floor of the ship as he meets your gaze.
“Did he hurt you?”
You laugh in response causing his cheeks to redden.
“More like the other way around,” you grin.
“Oh, what did he do?” Din asks and you clock the obvious innocent tone he’s implying, knowing full well he’s desperate for information.
You humor him. “Ner kar’ta,” you begin making Din’s heart race at his language gracing your lips, “it’s endearing how much you trust that I wouldn’t harm someone without reason. You truly think me so innocent?”
Din sways slightly in his chair, distracted by your beauty, his lips tugging up mirroring the smirk on your lips.
“To ease you, it was at the start of our relationship. It was how we met.”
You let off there. Not speaking another word, waiting for Din to press you further.
“Tell me,” his words reach your ears, oh so quiet and sweet.
You fight a smile.
“If you must know, I shot him.”
You giggle and Din sits forward with immediate interest.
“Why?” he asks.
You elaborate.
“At the time, I was seeking passage on a supply ship. One of which Boba and his allies choose to infiltrate. Of course he thought me a threat and of course I thought him a common pirate so we had a stand off which resulted in me shooting him point blank in the abdomen. Fennec appeared then. It seemed she saw right through me and stepped between us. She explained that the real pirates were these people that I was travelling with and I agreed to assist them for a price. Enough money for off planet travel to Naboo. She agreed, on Boba’s behalf and much to his rejection might I add. It seems Fennec took a liking to me.”
“A rare thing,” Din adds and you nod.
“So we took control of the ship. It was rather simple. They already trusted me of course. We landed it in Mos Espa and I assisted Fennec with getting Boba to aid. I housed with them for some time. Safe to say we didn’t like each other to start but with time, a sort of friendship happened.”
“And more?” Din asks quietly.
“Are you jealous, Din Djarin?” You ask, causing him to evade your intense gaze, head turning from you.
“I don’t mind if you are. I rather like jealousy on you, ner riduur.”
Din’s head flashes back to you.
It’s the first time you’ve used that term and one Din has yearned for quite some time since you started travelling and establishing a relationship, parenting Grogu between you.
“I just…I know it isn’t my business,” Din sighs, “but I just need to know if-“
“We only kissed, my love. That’s all,” you smile reassuringly.
Din doesn’t like any mention of the fellow Bounty Hunter touching you but his body does relax at the thought of the two of you progressing no further than a brief kiss. Though, the way Boba looked upon you and spoke to you betrayed any thoughts that whatever the older man saw of you was anything far from platonic.
“He confessed his feelings for me,” you add, grinning at the look of surprise you know would be plastered on Din’s face.
“I know I was shocked too.”
Din’s cheeks blaze, he’s always taken aback when you can tell how he’s reacting under his helmet.
Your smile slips, “I felt bad though.”
Din remains silent, knowing there is more to this story that you need to get off your chest.
“I’ve never seen him that vulnerable before. He’s usually so stoic. It wasn’t like I must confess, I have developed feelings for you. You know how he can be all formal and shit, yeah well, nothing like that. He was genuinely all like, shit, I think I’m falling for you. I don’t fucking know why.”
Din shakes his head in shock at what you’re saying. None of it sounds like the bounty hunter he fought alongside at all.
You shuffle uncomfortably, trying not to rouse your sleeping child, “There was a lot of cursing, believe it or not. A lot of pacing, his face was as red as the surface of Dathomir. You had to be there. I told Fennec. She didn’t believe me for a second then apparently he started venting to her in the middle of the throne room while they were waiting on a contact to show up because I was leaving the next morning.”
Din speaks the words that have been eating away at his brain while you’ve been recounting the story to him.
“Did you share his affections?” His voice betrays him, trembling at the last syllable.
“I don’t think so?” Your brows furrow, shaking your head in exasperation, “Did my heart flutter a bit when I would watch him in a fight? Yeah it did. I quite like how stern he can be. Makes me think how different he might be intimately but I don’t know, it just seemed more like curiosity than anything else. I still didn’t feel a want to remain in Mos Espa. I wanted to explore, see the universe. With or without him…it didn’t really matter to me.”
“Do you feel that way about me?” Din eagerly responds.
“No,” your answer is immediate, your eyes fixated determinedly on Din’s visor.
He’s silent when you explain.
“When we met, it was more than finding you hot when you beat the shit out of a bounty or curious about how sexy you looked under that helmet.”
Din’s fingers twitch, adjusting his seating position when his lower half feels like it’s tightening against his armor.
“it wasn’t curiosity. It was genuine desire. That’s the difference. It was the desire to wake up to you every day, regardless of what mood you might’ve been in. I craved your praise whenever you would tell me I did a good job watching over Grogu or when you were teaching me how to shoot. My heart still goes crazy whenever you’re even an inch behind me and I can sense your looming figure above me.”
Din’s heart pounds at your words.
“I am so in love with you, Din.”
Your eyes soften with your words.
Your lips plush as the confession he’s already aware of graces your lips once again. Spoken even more beautifully than the first time you had admitted to him, that the time you had spent together meant far more to you than business.
You wanted pleasure too.
You wanted it from him and in every way that he would give it.
And he’d give you anything you asked.
Din stands, his body gravitating to you, taking a knee before your chair.
You drop your head back, closing your eyes and inhaling sharply when you feel the cool metal touch your forehead delicately.
“Ni kar'tayl gar darasuum.”
You can’t fight back the smile twitching at your lips.
“I desire a life with you, Din,” his heart clenches at your words, his fingers brushing your lower back lovingly.
“And our son and whatever other foundlings you would want with me,” you smile shyly at him and he shakes his head with a chuckle.
“Mesh’la…I know you’re not teasing when you say that and I would be lying if I said it wasn’t a desire of mine as well,” your eyes sparkle up at him, surprised by this new information. “But what about seeing the universe? Travelling from planet to planet? Isn’t that what you want before deciding to settle down with me?”
You sigh happily, using your one free arm to slide up past his chest, embracing around his helmet and pulling him closer.
“I’ve seen the universe, Din. I have. I wake up to it everyday. Every time I’m in your arms.” You gaze sweetly through his visor, feeling the way his arms tighten around you.
“Close your eyes.”
An order.
One which you’re more than willing to obey knowing the outcome.
You close your eyes, hearing the sound of metal clattering on the near console before feeling soft lips caressing yours.
!!Bonus Scene!!:
You’re in the cargo hold having since put Grogu to bed, organising food portions in a trunk near Din’s weaponry. You thought the bounty Hunter was busy sat in his flight chair navigating to your next refuge, so it was safe to say you were scared shitless when his modulator sounded close behind you.
“Is he a better kisser than me?”
You smirk but it fades quickly when you turn around to face him towering over you, his body moving closer and crowding you so much your back hits the cold wall of the ship behind you. You take a moment, searching the darkened visor focused on you like prey.
You let a wry smile reach your hot cheeks, batting your eyelashes at him.
“You’ll have to remind me.”
It takes a second for the lights of the ship to go out, plunging you into darkness, a crash of metal against the floor and warm lips meeting yours hungrily.
“Where’s our boy?” He pulls back breathlessly, your heart pacing at the rugged tone of his voice no longer hidden by a modulator.
“In our bunk,” you reply, feeling his ungloved hands on your face, relishing in the feel of his calloused fingers dancing along your jawline. His hands slip down your arms, gently grazing the insides of your wrists making you weak before intertwining your fingers and tugging you back towards the ladder.
“The chair it is then,” Din responds, his hand guiding your lower back now against the ladder crowding up behind you while you remain blind in the dark. His hands taking yours and placing them against the cool metal to guide you up.
