~ Lilo's 2024 Star Wars recs ~ (another Ao3 year in review)

This is specifically the star wars edition of my reader year in review, the rest & more info can be found here!

Descriptions/summaries by me, click the links for the ones from the authors.

The Good Sith by sonnyrain - Obi-Wan Kenobi and all of the Vod'e time travel and end up on a Sith planet. Obi-Wan, now 'Aranar', turns to the dark side, swearing to protect his men no matter the cost. Over a million words, lots of plot and character developments, fix-everything, still ongoing as of mid last year but you can read the first part(s) on their own.

I love this fic a ridiculous amount, I read several parts at least twice, and I'm thinking about it constantly. Like, when I think up my plotless little fluff piece fix everything bedtime stories I think up to fall asleep (and sometimes when something's good have to forego sleep to write down immediately because I know I won't remember fuckall come morning), I think of the versions of the characters from that 'verse just as often as I think of canon star wars characters or ones from any other fics. It fits into my headcanon 'verse really well because I always work with multiverse settings, and I love the kid characters especially little Sithling Aurek and his twin Soul.

Knives and Spices by argentee, mikaiyawa and others: A whole group of humans from earth is kidnapped into the Star Wars world, and separate fics follow separate characters. One becomes Mandalorian, one a pop star, yet another befriends some pirates and travels to lands we've never seen in canon. 280k, ratings and warnings vary, series still ongoing, parts can be read separately

I love and adore all kinds of self insert stories but this one is just extra levels of amazing - it's basically humans are space orcs meets Star Wars, and humans are all a bit force sensitive - the ending of the series summary describes it perfectly: "how much trouble can a few humans cause? All of it. All the trouble." and I love it all to bits!

Like a Tree by the River by @bairnsidhe - at Galidraan, Komari has a vision of the canon future and decides that she'd rather leave the Jedi behind than be a part of that massacre. Somehow, this ends with her and Dooku being adopted by mandalorians, and her in turn kind of adopting teenaged Obi-Wan at Melida/Daan? 20k T

Idk, this isn't even such a long one and I mean all of BairnSidhe's works I've read are great but somehow specifically this one with Dooku being the 'a bit old' ad and Komari therefore the bu'ad of a random coruscanti Mandalorian just stuck with me and I sometimes randomly think of Dooku being all confused and have to smile xD the plot&writing is also really good!

How a Romance Novel Saved the Galaxy by @arianaderalte: The mandos get their hands on a novel that describes a romance between mandalorians and jedi, and just how perfect jedi really are as partners for mandalorians... This changes things when both groups interact irl. 200k, rated T, Violence

This series has Everything. Jedi, Mandalorians, action, relationships, all kinds of queerness, and excerpts from a romance novel about the ancient Sith wars. Honestly, this fic just couldn't be better! I binge-read through it in one go even though I should have done a million other things at the time and I didn't regret it one bit xD

All the Amavikka stories: the slaves on Tatooine have a separate secret culture with language, myths and names, and Anakin, coming from this culture, reacts to Palpatine being his newest slave master

I think this idea of Tatooine slave culture and of Anakin's characterization is so interesting and I love reading it, from long Double Agent Vader by @fialleril, which I think is the original fic creating the Ekkreth lore, over the ongoing series Biting His Own Tale by @adragonsfriend, to the short story I can't find anymore about depur erecting a tower, a song-fic to Babylon by Dirt Poor Robin and the reason for my obsession with that band - please, if anyone has a link, send it my way! - and all other fics, I love this trope so much!

I think Ekkreth Skywalker was one of the first trope rabbit holes I stumbled into when I got really into Star Wars longfics in the middle of 2024, and I'm always excited to see references to it in fics mainly about other characters as well, like Breaking Chains by @jehanneargentee, and I went back to (re)reading fics about the trope on purpose several times as well :)

The last fic leads neatly into the next trope I really loved this year, Time Travel stories, more specifically Obi-Wan Kenobi time travelling and meeting mandalorians :D

I don't really have more specific stories for this one, I read so so so many of them that they just blur together in my mind. I marked a couple with the Ao3 rec function so I assume I liked those especially much, but going through them now I still don't really remember much, but I do recognize a couple fic author names as authors I read many good fics from, Ariel_Sojourner AppoApples @batshieroglyphics @roosjem LeeTheHobbit @triscribe cjwritesfanficnow @laurabwrites y'all's are awesome! Everyone, go check out all their fics!

I do also read and enjoy stories where people other than Obi-Wan travel through time, one that really stuck with me is In Good Time by morwen_of_gondor, about the Mandalorian trainers Kal Skirata and Walon Vau time travelling back to their time on Kamino.

All the fluffy h/c, fix-it, everyone lives, no order 66 Clone Wars fics! Pro-jedi, pro-clones, anti-sith (which sometimes includes Anakin, sometimes not), usually focusing on the 212th.

I never watched the series and it's been ages since I watched Attack of the Clones, but somehow, probably on the time travel -> Obi-Wan fics -> General Kenobi pipeline, I ended up reading a loooot of clone wars (fix it) fic, specifically lots and lots of Codywan!

You know that lovely feeling of getting into a new fandom without having any preconceived notions or otps or anything, so you can read All The Fic without any ships or bashing squicking you out? Yeah, that was me in Star Wars several months ago, cursed be the Codywan that got to me xD I can barely read time travel fics anymore without mourning the existence of the Vod'e because changing the past usually means they won't be created (unless they're the ones time travelling of course. Love those fics) and where I used to read just about anyone x Obi-Wan (and also anyone x anybody else lmao), I'm not pretty exclusively into Codywan... That being said, there's a reason for that, and that's the amount of amazing fics for that ship that I came across!

Again, I don't have specific fics that I remember because I just read so many one after the other... I guess I'll have to re-read them all. Which is great actually because me not remembering them much means I can reread them basically for the first time! I did mark some as rec but looking through them now I think they're not mainly recced for the codywan... My shippy bookmark tag might give a better overview.

Another ship I got into was clone troopers Waxer x Boil, I like the thought of the Vod'e being a society of to outsiders identical looking but to each other separate people who only see their immediate batchmates as siblings (which would also psychologically make a lot more sense), and these two are just super cute.

One of the first Waxer/Boil fics I read is also Codywan and it's one of these clones&Obi-Wan time travel fics I like so much :D The 212th Attack Battalion's Guide to Saving the Galaxy by Accident by @antigrav-vector and @quarra, it also has some Dooku/Sifo-Dyas which is another ship I really like.

Another one I still want to continue reading is RCAU: Open Skies mainly by @cacodaemonia, what I've seen of it so far is great and the story is So Long (almost 900k, a honestly daunting wordcount and probably what made me procrastinate continuing it, but also Awesome because So Much Fic), it's cute and shippy and no order 66 but also has plot and interesting characters and ocs and I just love it <3

Also similar but less ship centric, I absolutely love all the fics where Fox gets to kill Palpatine. Just, best trope ever. The Corrie Guard deserves a little Sith Murder. As a treat.

Jaster Mereel and his haat'ade (True Mandalorians), there are a bunch of really good ones where they rescue Obi-Wan and the Young from Melidaan, but also in general all the Jaster fics are great!

While I'm very anti guns irl I just love the fictional Mandalorian culture xD with their cool armor and their codex and the language (per my last count I know 90 words of Mando'a just from fic reading osmosis, send me an ask if you want a list lmao), the vibrant culture created by it being a creed, not one species... and Jaster is just my favorite Mando'ad ever, maybe because he doesn't have much canon attached so fanon just went wild? xD there are also a bunch of jedi shippy fics with him and Dooku sometimes in ot3 with Sifo-Dyas, or him and Jon Antilles like the wonderful 100k wip trade your heart for bones to know by @blackkatmagic, and I think there was one with time travelling adult Obi-Wan as well - edit: yes several, by @roosjem @cjwritesfanficnow @batshieroglyphics <3

Skywalker Family Values by Ariel_Sojourner: Sith-son Luke and senator daughter Leia end up in the same summer camp, it ends in a destruction of the speciist camp, a rebellious theatre performance and the reintroduction of their parents... Aka the parent trap/ Doppelte Lottchen AU that is still somehow perfectly in tune with the Star Wars world! 55k, T for violence.

Can't forget the fic that actually got me into Star Wars! At least I'm pretty sure this is the one? I think there was a tumblr post talking about crackfic ideas for a parent trap AU, and I went looking and found this one, which is actually 100% serious and such a good read. I actually made my mom read it as well xD Das Doppelte Lottchen (German original parent trap book from 1949) was one of our favs for her to read to me when I was a kid, and my mom is always looking for new reading material and as I'm mainly reading fanfic, I'm always happy to find fic she'll also like.

No following; Planet of the Apes fanfic Chap. 1

Okay so we're gonna try something new here tumblr. Ever since I saw the new Planet of the apes film a month ago I got interested in the fandom once again but never thought anyone wrote fics for the fandom. After reading some on FF.net as well as here, it got me wanting to write a series while I'm on a writer's block for my current series. And thus this series was born.

This entire series will encompass the Andy Serkis trilogy and will be a Caesar fic. But it is STRICTLY PLATONIC so if that's not your cup of tea, no hate and just move on. This is my story and I'll write it the way I want to.

Now to those who wish to give this series a chance as you read, leave a comment down below if you wish to be tagged for updates (rn I'll be binge posting cause I've already got 10 chapters ready to go and be read).

WARNINGS: Fluff, angst, swearing, violence. So this won't be for the light of heart (at least until I get to Dawn and then War).

Some say that the bonds between human and animal are a unique thing.  That there’s an unbreakable trust between the two and that they are fated to always be together.  Others say that like soulmates, there’s always an animal for a person who needs them the most.  For me, I would end up having the most unique of all bonds with an animal that is closest to my own species of animal.

This is the story of such a bond, this is the story of Lin and Caesar.

It was nightfall and pouring down rain as I rode home with my best friend Gabriella and her mother.  Gabi and I had known each other since Pre-K after we both had a love for the Disney movie Lilo and Stitch.  From that moment on we’ve been inseparable.  Currently I was getting a ride home with her mom after our strings class.

She and I after school go over to the rec center every Tuesday, Thursday and Friday nights and perform with the San Fransisco Strings and Orchestra for minors.  Gabi plays the cello and I play the violin.  We’re both pretty good if I do say so myself, our teacher tells us that we could eventually go far into the world of music if we set our mind to it.  But I think I’m good cause of my genetics, after all my grandpa was a former music professor and conductor.  But he doesn’t really play anymore, or at least he tries to.

We soon stopped at my house and I said grabbing my things and readied my umbrella.

“Thanks for the ride Mrs. Montez.”

“Anytime Lin sweetie. Watch out crossing the dark, wet sidewalk.”

“I will, see you tomorrow in class Gabi.”

“See yah Lin.” I quickly opened the door and opened up my umbrella before quickly racing across the sidewalk and up the stairs to my front door.  I took my key and unlocked the door but not before waving one final time and soon Mrs. Montez drove off down the road.

I entered inside and shook off my umbrella before hanging it to dry.  I also took off my raincoat and hung it up beside it before walking further into the house proclaiming.

“Hello? Grandpa? Uncle Will?” that’s when I heard the sound of cooing, like a baby cooing but it wasn’t human.  I set my violin case down to the banister by the front door and walked into the study room where I found a large box with holes sitting on the table.  As I got closer to it, I heard my uncle say.

“Oh perfect timing, guess that means I can show you both.” I turned and saw both my uncle and grandpa coming around from the kitchen entry.

“Show me what?” uncle Will walked passed me, ruffled my hair and stood over the box.

“Hey grandpa.”

“Hey sweetheart. Get another gold star from Ms. Honey for good behavior?” I smiled solemnly.  Ms. Honey was my kindergarten teacher, my current teacher is Mr. Simmons. 

My grandpa for the past couple of years has been dealing with Alzheimer’s disease.  Uncle Will told me that it’s a disease that slowly eats away at the brain’s cells, affecting memory and sometimes body function.  You see, my parents died in a plane crash when I was just 3 years old and in their will they had the next guardianship be my grandpa.  But two years ago, that’s when the disease started to take its effect on him.

So my uncle Will had to move in with us to help not only take care of me but of grandpa too.  And when he’s at work and I’m at school, a nice nurse comes in and helps take care of grandpa.

“Grandpa, I’m in the 4th grade. My teacher is Mr. Simmons. You know the nice man you and uncle Will met last month at the school picnic.” He looked dazed for a second but then said.

“Oh right, yeah I knew that.”

“Dad, Lin, come check this out.” Uncle Will said trying to redirect the conversation.  We came over and the second we looked inside, there lay a baby monkey.

“Is that a monkey?” I asked with a head tilt.

“He’s actually a chimpanzee, an ape.” Uncle Will corrected me.  Grandpa was in pure awe as he slowly reached in and touched the baby chimp.

“What is that? Is he injured?” he asked as I took notice of a mark right around the right side of his chest.  It was a prominent balding mark in a unique shape, a long oval shape with an additional stripe at the top.  Kinda reminded me of an incomplete cross or an unfinished F.

“No, I think that’s a birthmark.” Uncle Will said as he crossed into the kitchen and started putting some things into the fridge.  All the while grandpa picked up the baby chimp and lifted him high into the air like he was Simba.  The little guy was just small enough to fit between both of grandpa’s hands.

“Listen Lin,” he told me before he began quoting, “‘But as for Caesar, kneel down, kneel down and wonder.’”

“He’s so cute.” I awed as I reached out and touched his little toes.

“Yeah don’t get too attached, either of you.” Uncle Will told us.

“So why bring him here then if we can’t keep him?” I sassed.

“He’s not a dog or a cat, not even a bunny rabbit. He’s a wild animal. My coworker promised he’d try to find an animal sanctuary for him in a couple of days.” I let out a exasperated groan.

“Animal sanctuaries are still prisons.”

“Don’t get smart young lady.” My uncle playfully reprimanded as he pointed at me.

“It’s not polite to point.” I sassed back.

“Polite? Okay, I’ll show you polite.” My uncle said as he shut the fridge and giving me that narrowed but playful look in his eyes.  I took off running as he raced after me.  I got only up four stairs before I felt two arms wrap around me and he swung me away from the staircase and the next thing I felt was a wet finger in my ear.

“GAHH EWW UNCLE WILL!!!”

“Yeah your mom did this to me all the time when we were kids, now it’s payback.” He laughed.

“I’m innocent in this vile act!” I proclaimed dramatically.

“But you must pay for the sins of thy mother young youth!”

“Will, Maria, you two better stop horsing around in there.” At hearing my mom’s name we both settled down and a somber feeling was in the air.

“He’s been calling me that on and off for the past week.”

“Honestly who can blame him. You look so much like her when she was your age.” He said with a soft smile and he ruffled my hair again.

“Really?”

“Yeah. And when have I ever lied about anything in regards to my big sister?”

“Never.”

“Exactly.” He then playfully nudged my side with his before changing the subject.  “Now please tell me you managed to eat dinner cause I’ve had a long day of work and I don’t feel like cooking anything.”

“Lucky for you, the rec center was hosting a pizza party after the past few months prepping for Districts last week. Maestro Fiyero said we earned a little break after working us so hard.”

“Good. Now why don’t you brush your teeth and get ready for bed.”

“Why does my curfew have to be 9 o’clock? I’m 10 years old, not five.”

“Growing girls needs sleep too you know.”

“Yeah, yeah, yeah. Tell grandpa I said goodnight will yah?”

“Will do kid. Sleep tight, don’t let the bedbugs bite.”

“You too.” I grabbed my violin and raced on upstairs and did my nighttime routine before getting into bed and turning off the light.

As the night progressed, I soon heard the sounds of shrieks coming from the hallway.  I opened my eyes and looked at my clock to see that it was 2:30am.  I got up and let out a cough and muttered to myself.

“Need some juice.” Quietly I walked down the hallway towards the stairs but as I came to the bathroom I could hear the shower running as well as the bathroom sink.  Did grandpa accidentally leave the water running again after taking his shower?  No, Uncle Will would’ve turned it off by now.

I knocked softly on the door and I heard my uncle’s voice say.

“It’s just me dad.”

“I’m not grandpa.” I heard footsteps and the door cracked open and when he saw me, he brought me into the bathroom before closing it.  Immediately I was hit with the heat that had been trapped by the hot water that was coming from both the shower and the sink.

“What are you doing up so late Lin?”

“I heard shrieking and then I got thirsty.”

“Ohh sorry, guess this little guy woke you up too huh?” it was then I took notice of the baby chimp swaddled up in my uncle’s arms.  I looked down at him and he looked up at me, moving his grip from my uncle’s finger to mine as he cooed.

“He looks like he has a cold.”

“You think?”

“Yeah, his nose is kinda runny.”

“Well that’s normal for babies sometimes. He’s barely a day old. You definitely had a runny nose when you were born.”

“No I didn’t!”

“Oh yeah you were quite the little snot monster. The original boogeyman, or boogeygirl.” He said taking his free hand that was on top of the baby chimp and playfully gripped my nose.

“Uncle Will!” I whined softly which made him laugh.  Our moment was stopped as the baby chimp let out a few more coos before snuggling up to uncle Will, all the while the grip on my finger got a bit tighter.  I smiled down at him and said as I stroked my thumb over his tiny fingers.  “Are you sure we can’t keep him?”

“I’ll—think about it. Holding him like this….makes me think back to the day you were born. Boy your mom wouldn’t let me near you at first. Feared I was gonna drop you, she always had that fierce mama bear instinct right from the get-go. Even when we were growing up and as she tormented me at times. When I needed it, she was there with her hot-headed attitude.”

“I miss her uncle Will.”

“Me too kid. Me too.” I leaned up against him and he rested his head on top of mine giving it a soft kiss.  “Go on back to bed, I’ll stay up with him.”

“You sure?”

“Yeah. I’m used to all-nighters, one day you might get there when you’re composing your first symphony. But for now, head back to bed.”

“Can I still get my juice first? I’m thirsty.”

“Just this once. Just be quiet when passing Charles’ room.” I nodded before leaning down and gave the baby chimp a kiss to which he let out a cute yawn and quiet hoot.

“Goodnight little chimp. Night uncle Will.” I gave him a peck on the cheek and he said goodnight to me as I quietly left the bathroom shutting the door immediately as I got out.  I went downstairs, got my drink and went back to bed.

The next morning I was finishing my breakfast and packing my school books into my backpack as uncle Will was coming down with the baby chimp and set him up in my old high-stool chair that grandpa had kept.

“Where’s my car keys?” grandpa asked as he was patting through his robe and pj pockets.  “My car keys where’d you put them? I need to get Lin to school!” he said urgently.

“Dad.” Uncle Will calmly spoke to him. “You-you don’t drive anymore. And Lin takes the bus.” Grandpa looked at him with a blank stare before turning away and telling him.

“I know that.” It really does make me sad to see grandpa this way.  He always looks so dazed and lost, like he’s here with us but at the same time he’s not.  Sometimes he’ll just sit there and stare off into space, frozen in his spot and not say anything for a really long time.

“Here, why don’t you feed him? Can you do that?” uncle Will suggested holding up a baby bottle filled with milk.

“Of course I can.” Said grandpa coming over.  As uncle Will went to get his coffee (blech!) grandpa came over and grabbed the bottle which made the baby chimp go crazy with hunger as he reached out for it.  As soon as it was in reach, he grabbed the bottle from grandpa’s hand and immediately began drinking it as fast as he could.

I dropped my fork and stared at him in awe.  I was told that babies always needed help being fed for at least several months and yet after just being born yesterday, he was feeding himself.

“Will, look at this.” Grandpa said as uncle Will came back into the kitchen and saw what we saw.  “How old is he? Like a day old, two days old?” Uncle Will sat down as he examined the baby chimp confused.

“Yeah.” Uncle Will said lowly as he kept his eyes on the baby chimp.

“Oh he’s a smart one isn’t he?” said grandpa as he came around and sat on the other side of the baby and gently placed his hand on top of his head.  “What are you gonna name him?”

“I—I don’t know.” Uncle Will said unsure.  That’s when I saw it.  Now I’m no monkey or ape expert but from pictures I’ve seen in books they normally have dark eyes, mostly brown but this little guy.  His eyes were green.

A green eyed baby chimpanzee.  One look into his eyes and I knew that he was something very special.

໑  🔒 Five Zero Five by Stria / @nooradeservedbetter​ (E, 2.5k, established relationship, canon divergence, pwp, dom/sub, read tags and author’s note) remember when Louis sang “505” for the first time and we all collectively lost it? well, this fic encompasses extremely well my feelings about Louis’ cover choice.  

໑ love was a pretty lie by dragmedown / @itsnothesameasitwas (M, 3k, established relationship, college au, sex while high, read tags and author’s note) a story based on the song “Silver Tongues”. this was so entertaining to read, i loved how their relationship worked, and even more to know it exists a sequel to this story so you know how they ended up. 

໑ Together We're the Greatest by @hellolovers13 (E, 4.6k, getting back together, dystopian au, read tags) this story fits very well the vibe of “The Greatest”. i always thought that song would make a nice soundtrack for an action movie. if you don’t like blood though, be careful with this one.

໑  🔒 The Light Streams Out by Stria / @nooradeservedbetter (G, 6k, friends to lovers, magic au, animal transformation) this was such a lovely read! it had pining, longing, embarrassing moments, and lots of fluff. 

໑ That's The Way Love Goes by red_PANdaaa28 / @red-pandaaa (M, 8.7k, established relationship, lilo friendship, song fic, flashbacks) this story was so pretty. it’s inspired by the song “That’s The Way Love Goes” and shows not only Louis’ support for Liam, but also the other way around. it hurt but i enjoyed it a lot.

໑ 🔒 High Tide by Stria / @nooradeservedbetter  (E, 14.3k, strangers to lovers, covid au, pwp, dom/sub, read tags and author’s note) i absolutely loved the chemistry between Harry and Louis, and it showed in all the activities they did together, and i mean it bc even shopping online together was cute coming from them.

໑ Captain Cupid by @2tiedships2 (NR, 15.3k, friends to lovers, a/b/o au, nesting, touch deprivation) this was such a fun and lovely story! Captain Niall always knows best, and this time it wasn’t the exception. there were so many moments that warmed my heart, especially the tub scene! go read it so you don’t miss out.

໑ Moments of Memories by momentofclarity / @gaycousinlarry (M, 17.8k, friends to lovers, reunited au, old louis, old harry) a beautiful story about second chances and reunions. i honestly loved the way everything was told, and how it felt like i was too an old friend who got to learn abt their life after years of not seeing them. it was cosy and sweet, and very hopeful.

໑ Hold Me How the Deep Night Has by @crochetsunsets (E, 48k, enemies to lovers, magic au, historical, read tags) my heart is still beating fast just remembering everything that i felt when i read this story. it’s about hope, about love, about time… it really cut so deep, but it didn’t hurt, i just can’t explain it. please go read it.

໑ Welcome Home by Jelon  (E, 49k, strangers to lovers, kid fic, football au, football player louis, baker harry, dad harry) i love kid fics and this one has the best elements of one. i truly liked Louis’ relationship with Max but also the passion of his relationship with Harry.

໑ your memory over me by @shimmeringevil (E, 64.3k, exes to lovers, greece au, journalist harry, rich louis, vacation) loved that this was set in Greece, and all the tension surrounding the vacation, not only between Louis and Harry who were the exes, but like with everyone there. it was just delicious and so entertaining to read!

໑ Gemma's Dad (Could Use A Guy Like Me) by @lululawrence (NR, 82k, neighbours to lovers, stacy’s mom au, age difference, summer) i loved this story bc it made me feel like i was spending summer with them (it was that or the 31°C on the day i read this). it was a sweet fic, with lots of flirting, and love all around.

໑ after hours by edensrose / @holdingthornsandroses (louis/pedro pascal / louis/pedro pascal/oscar isaac, E, 16.7k, friends to lovers, coffee shop au, dancer louis, read tags) i don’t know how else to describe this fic other than hot hot hot! but also there were so many romantic and sweet moments. it was perfect!

໑ Bloom by @ladyaj-13 (louis/liam, T, 29k, enemies to lovers, 1970s, murder mystery, endeavour au, read tags) i absolutely enjoyed this story! i was so hooked with the way everything was written. as someone who enjoys crime solving stories, this one amazed me in so many ways, and that’s not considering the romantic aspect of it bc that was great in another level.

Parker's gambling was spiraling further out of control and Elvis was struggling to keep up with the losses as his health continues to decline. Parker's treatment of him becomes harsher and more cruel every day as he realizes he's running out of money faster than his client can earn it. Elvis ends up in the hospital where he forges a new friendship that will help him finally break free of his abuser for good.

I’ve put it in a dual category because although Lilo is the first listed relationship, the Zarry is in no way background.

like a bastard on the burning sea - vashtaneradas - One Direction (Band) [Archive of Our Own] - NR, 22k, 2013 - infidelity, angst, AU. I think almost everyone in the fandom will have read this, but if you’ve been putting it off it’s time to get around to it. It hurts, but it’s beautifully written and if you’re in the right mindset it’s a wonderful read.

all this devotion - princelouisau - One Direction (Band) [Archive of Our Own] @princelouisau - E, 38k, 2022 - omegaverse, fake relationship, friends to lovers. I’m such a sucker for pining/platonic sex tropes and this fic has them in spades! 

yeah, he's a looker (but i really think it's guts that matter most) - devilinmybrain (venomedveins) - One Direction (Band) [Archive of Our Own] @thedevilinmybrain - E, 40k, 2022 - outsider (Oli) POV, canon, friendship. Honestly, I completely loved this. So intricate, so well written, so realistic - it tugs at the heartstrings and sweeps you up into it entirely.

hii! i am a writer and i am looking for blog and page themes to create a complete backup or library for all my fics. do you have any recs?

As I recommended in my studyblr ask, @pirateskinned has a lot of themes that are intended for lots of writing/text! Theme 81 has a lot of room for descriptions and sections to link to your other accounts/fic links.

I think in general a lot of rp theme makers will have themes and pages catered to blogs with a lot of writing and links. I'm not really involved in that community but @ctrlsugar, @vitaminholland, @springdoy, and @nonspace come to mind.

@engelthm's Lilo is specifically meant for writers and comes with a matching page with sections for characters and wip details.

@fukuo's Nyuir is also built with writing blogs in mind and has a lot of customization options.

@taezsthemes bookshelf page might also work for you! Keep in mind with pages that you'll need to request permission to use JavaScript if the page theme contains any.

One More Time, With Feeling  G 

Just after dealing with Malekith, Thor returns to Asgard to tell his father (the "wise" king whose wisdom no one will ever surpass) that he would "rather be a good man than a great king." He doesn't get a chance to make this very interesting statement, as he is met with the discovery that Loki is not only alive again, but also a child of 250-300 years (or the equivalent of a 5-6 year old) who doesn't remember any of his life past that age. I.e. Thor unintentionally volunteers to be his, now much younger, brother's dad for who knows how long even though Thor has no idea what a good father looks like. I had wanted to write something where Loki and Thor develop a healthier relationship and work through their issues, and then I rewatched Lilo and Stitch and got inspired 

Portal To The Past  G 

Loki gets sent back in time a few centuries and since he's over trying to gain Odin's approval he's reliving life with his own happiness in mind. Naturally, everyone else has a problem with this. 

The Prince of Fire  T 

Loki is the child of tales long since assumed to be legends among the Jotuns. He is born with warm skin and eyes the color of fire, marking him as an extraordinarily powerful sorcerer-- one who can control both fire and frost. His distinguishing traits are hidden from all Jotuns in the realm, save for the royal family. He is nameless to the people of Jotunheimr, simply "the prince," lest his name ever expose him to the Asgardians. Odin has fallen into the Odinsleep and Thor holds the throne in his absence. After Volstagg and Hogun are killed while trespassing on Jotun soil, Thor responds with an army to take back the casket, fearful of the Jotuns possessing such power. Thor goes searching for something to barter with in Jotunheimr

Which means that we are going to go over there and rescue anyone who may need rescuing!” 

“ … By shuttle,” Howard muttered, breaking the silence that had settled over the room. 

Peggy rolled her eyes at him, “Yes, by shuttle,” she agreed. 

Dark Matter  NR 241039 SERIES 

The last thing Peter sees is Tony's horrified, heartbroken expression leaning over him. The guilt in his eyes is almost worse than the burning pain that's taking Peter apart piece by piece. The world starts to go dark. 

There's a flash of gold and green. For one moment, he finds himself standing amongst the Guardians and others. And then darkness again. It feels like blinking; an extended period of nothingness that ends as abruptly as it begins. One moment there’s nothing, the next there’s light. 

“Easy,” a woman says. Her words are gentle, and carry a slight accent that he can’t place. "I'm called Wonder Woman. What's your name?"

Cassandra Cain is Batgirl. Cass is a newly adopted sister. Cass is a dancer. Cass has found a spider. What is to be done with the spider stands to be seen. 

Help Me, I Don't Feel Like Myself Anymore  NR SERIES 

Peter's lost everything - everyone - the soul stone still clinging to him like a child that refused to give up their favorite toy and, though he's still saving Queens as Spider-Man, no one knows who Peter Parker is. Haunted by his own past mistakes and the mimicry of the souls that Thanos snapped into dust, he doesn't doesn't expect to find himself in an alternate dimension where not even Iron Man exists. He should've expected it - Parker luck is a curse he'll never be rid of. But a new start as Spider-Man might be good for him, might actually keep people alive this time. And then he sees a man wearing the face of his dead father - not Ben, not Tony, but Richard Parker - and suddenly this dimension doesn't make Peter feel as hopeful as it did seconds before. But it's fine, he's been through stranger and worse, so it's fine and okay and he's okay- A few days in this new dimension his neighbor across from his new 'home' opens the door on the day Ben died back home, and the face - young, with a tuft of white hair instead of peppering it, and green eyes instead of blue - shatters every defense Peter thought he might have. He can handle 'Richard Parker', he's not sure he can handle 'Uncle Ben'.

When a Robin flies into a Spider's web, it can go one of two ways: Either the Robin escapes, his red breast a warning, and seal's the Spider's doom; or it remains ensnared, forever waiting to be devoured. But when teenage heart-throb Dick Grayson, ward of Bruce Wayne and heir to the Wayne Fortune, meets high school hero Peter Parker out of pure happenstance, things don't quite go to plan. And as their awkward acquaintance begins to expand beyond that of chance meetings... well. Dick might just find out that his place in the food chain isn't quite as cemented as he'd once thought.

Peter wakes up far from home, still hyperventilating at the feeling of his limbs slipping away on Titan. He's really, really far from home. How is he going to get home from this weird alternate universe? How is he going to blend in?

On a mission with the X-men, Kurt gets caught in a blast that send him through an alternate dimension to Gotham. Lost and hurt, Kurt comes across Red Hood, who sees a hurt kid and can't help but take him home.

Peter might actually re-think his policy of trying to rehabilitate would-be criminals if it was going to keep landing him into a pile of shit. Especially the dimension-travelling, body shrinking kind of trouble. Well, it's not like a bit of emotional turmoil (read: complete and utter upheaval of Peter's barely-hanging-by-a-thin-thread life) ever stopped Peter Parker from helping others as Spider-man. (Maybe he should have stopped and smelled the poison ivy, because his life is a train wreck and he can't take his eyes away from it.) 

I'm Pretty Sure Bruce Wayne Would Do That  G 10061 

In this wild mind of mine, I thought of some seriously hillarious and sensible (not really) things Bruce Wayne would do. S'more like a complilation of things I think (I know) Bruce would do.

The Enterprise has been in space for three of the five years since they left earth and have encountered little to no disturbances, but that all changes when something slams into the side, frying their warp. 

The Ghost Of Heroes  T 291,238 SERIES 

New York City isn't prepared for a ghostly invasion. The Avengers are finally all in the same place again. Thor and Bruce are back from space with a semi-reformed chaos god and a thousand refugees in tow. Steve and the Rogues have got their pardons and are ready to start being heroes again. But Tony isn't ready trust, neither is his new protegee Spiderman. The fractured team can't seem to come together. It's a good thing then that Danny Phantom is ready to save the day. That doesn't mean anyone is prepared for when he keeps showing up. 

John Doe Identified  M 6,233 SERIES 

Phantom luck strikes again as Danny gets hurt wandering the streets of NYC but he is saved by the most unlikey hero-antihero. Things happen, mistakes are made, identities are revealed, and somehow hearts are slightly mended.

Unlike other kids of successful, wealthy parents Harry isn't skating by on good looks. Nor is he fifty piña coladas deep in Hawaii. Instead he spends his time learning, whether it's by reading a mountain of texts or hands on at his father's lab. There's an unspoken understanding between his father and himself that he'll take control of the company when his father no longer can. Harry would rather be well versed when he does, science really does interest him. If it interests him because it's genuinely cool or if it interests him because his father pays some kind of attention to him, well. or Another superpowers fic that nobody asked for.

Thanks to the lovely @alwaysxlarrie and @wabadabadaba who both tagged me to share my writing goals for this year. I always try to keep my goals attainable, while still challenging myself a little, so here are mine for this year:

1. Write more consistently. I’m setting myself a goal of writing at least 2k words a week. I already know the first few months of the year are going to be a little busier, but I really want to try to make time for writing because I know it’ll be worth it in the end.

2. Publish two fics over 25k words. I’ve really enjoyed challenging myself with writing slightly longer fics last year, and while 25k is still short by most people’s standards, that’s the length of my current longest fic, and still quite a daunting number to me!

3. Write my first Narry fic. I wrote my first Lilo fic this year and had a lot of fun exploring a new pairing for the first time, so I’d definitely love to do that again this year.

4. Write a real advent fic. I posted what I called an advent-ish fic last December, because the fic I wrote didn’t actually have 25 chapters like a proper advent should have, but only 9 in the end. I really enjoyed the experience of posting a fic as a WIP though, and I’d love to do a traditional 25-day advent this December.

5. Continue to show appreciation to other writers by commenting and reblogging their fics, and through monthly fic recs. This is something I started doing more intentionally in 2022, and I definitely want to carry that with me this year.

Yooooooo I just finished The Heroine’s Journey by Gail Carriger and it was so good!!! I don’t read a ton of non-fiction, especially not about writing, but  I picked this book up because I love Gail Carriger’s writing (I’ve read most of her Parasolverse and I’m planning on reading her other series eventually) and it was definitely worth it! Would highly recommend to “writers, readers, and fans of pop culture” as it says on the cover.
