Random Doctor Who Facts You Might Not Know, Part 17
The Valeyard told the Sixth Doctor that his Seventh incarnation was full of schemes in order to play a game that was never his to win and that his Eighth would never shake the shadow of death.
When separated from the TARDIS, the Doctor's memory usually begins to fail him.
Agatha Christie was a companion of the Eighth Doctor.
Tania Bell was placed in 107 Baker Street by Torchwood, her employer, to keep an eye out for the Doctor.
Rose was once turned into a vampire. She attacked the Ninth Doctor.
When the Eighth Doctor lies to his friends, it's obvious he's doing so because he gets a "terrified and guilty" expression on his face.
Handrel once said a single incarnation of a Time Lord can live for 10,000 years.
The Eighth Doctor once appeared on and won a television show called You Either Know It or You Don't.
The Curator likes pigeons.
The Seventh Doctor is sometimes terrified of the Third Doctor, particularly by the realization that the Leader of the British Republic in the Inferno universe is his counterpart.
In the Seventh Doctor’s mind, the First Doctor plays the role of the librarian and the keeper of the gardens. The Fourth Doctor is the ferryman. The Fifth Doctor represents the Doctor's conscience, but he is enchained in a pit in their mind. Ace eventually frees him though. He thoroughly locked the Sixth Doctor away due to Valeyard-related drama.
The Seventh Doctor manipulated Mel into leaving. This would allow him to go on as Time's Champion without her morality interfering.
Before Logopolis, the Fourth Doctor passed through a period of dense time, causing him to age rapidly. Even after restored, he remained greatly weakened and was unsure of if he would be able to regenerate. Because of this, Milady put in a request to the Department of Watchers to help him prepare for that regeneration. This weakness could potentially also explain why the Fourth Doctor regenerated after falling a shorter distance than the Tenth Doctor did when he jumped out of a spaceship.
The Fifth Doctor could "swim" through the time vortex.
K9 Mark I could not climb stairs, but K9 Mark II could.
The First Doctor helped design the Privy Gardens.
The Doctor speaks fluent dolphin.
The Master has been recorded to have 470 known incarnations in total.
The Master's personality has always been influenced by the Assemblage, an organic computer made by all those incarnations.
The First Doctor likely made Susan's wedding ring, having planned to get gold for it from Aristea.
The Fifth Doctor eventually realized he had mistreated Adric because the boy reminded him of his own self as a child, but this realization came after Adric was already gone.

Johnlock Fluff List 5
Fluff 1, Fluff 2, Fluff 3, Fluff 4
Collections of Clues by ianavi
There was no sleeping that night. And not due to the awkward stammering in the stacks of the library. Or the phrasing of what felt as a sudden dismissal. All Sherlock could think about was John's gaze on his neck, lips, reddening cheeks. How heated he felt under that gaze, how alone when John left. He was itching with desperation to not just be looked at but also touched. It was juvenile fantasy. But he was alone in his bedroom, it was past midnight, and he could indulge. He imagined John's hand reaching to touch his cheek, his fingers brushing his lips. He buried his head into the pillow and groaned. Could John ever see him like that, ever want him?

Darling by Artemis (Citrine)
Inspired by a very old prompt about Watson calling Holmes 'darling' by accident:
With my eyes closed and my head resting on the padded back of my armchair I let the haunting, lilting music of Holmes’ violin wash over me. The exquisite sounds he drew from the violin and the warmth of the fire lulled me into a gentle daydream. Even when the music drifted into silence I stayed still and quiet, basking in my cocoon of contentment.

Through the Clouds by Mazarin221b
Sherlock takes a remarkably early retirement at 47, and convinces John that a change of pace would do them both good. They buy an old cottage on the South Downs, and exchange their nonstop life in Baker Street for quiet contemplation, bee studies, and book writing.
They might go completely insane, but sometimes it takes stepping outside of the life you're living to find the life you want.

The Games We Play of Dust and Ash (Yandere Moriarty the Patriot Masterlist)
Sherlock meets his darling when going to investigate a scene, she is a reporter or a reporter who is trying to break out of the reviews of plays and flower shows she has to write. She is trying to talk to one of the police telling him that her boss told her that she should have clearance to enter the sight to report on it but they won’t let her in.
“Don’t worry, she’s with me.”
Like a knight in shining armor he comes in to save the day and her job most likely. So with the detective stepping in they have no choice but to let her in along with him. The two look at the scene together, while he is looking for clues she is writing down literally everything she sees on her notepad, even asking the police questions about when was the suspected time of death and when was the body found, actual important details. Before they part ways he asks for the piece of paper under the one she was writing on, it’s a strange request but she agrees and says farewell to the detective.
He returns to Baker Street with the sheet of paper and takes of piece of graphite to rub against the paper to reveal the imprint of what she wrote, hells she was able to notice a few things he wasn’t but of course there was a number of things she missed as well, but not bad.
“Oh you smart little thing.”
They meet again when she had just turned her finished article into the editor, she had waited until Holmes solves the case so she would get the whole story. She is leaving the news bureau when her shoulder collided with the detective by complete accident. They both stop to thank each other, her for letting her investigate the scene for her work, and him for her helping him solve the case with her observations. She tells him if he even needs her help again that he knows where to find her and she runs off and he still forgot to ask her for her name and it isn’t until the morning paper is published and her name is under the headline story that he learns it.
The two fall into a habit, he would come and find her at the news bureau when he gets a new case, they would investigate the initial scene together and she would give him a copy of her notes and he would give her the other evidence he finds as he looks more and more into the case, thing he finds when it starts to get dangerous. She is quick, not as quick as him, but quick none the less, the back and forths they have are almost addictive, her intelligence trying to rival his own.
One of these times when he comes to find her he can tell that she is distressed about something and sees that there is a piece torn out from her brand new note pad that she just said she hadn’t used. So he pulled that same trick he did when they first met and asks for a piece of paper and she gives it to him without a second thought. After they investigate the scene and they both go off to their own homes, he talks the graphite to the paper and immediately figures out what is distressing her…
She is investigating a death of a noble couple that someone thinks is a murder. There is a doctor who preformed an autopsy who found out they were poisoned, a librarian who was involved who went missing, and the name of a young lady who commissioned the reporter who Sherlock recognizes as a name of a woman his brother fancies but that is beside the point.
This is a dangerous case, he knows that and she throwing herself in the pit of vipers just to get the story. He can’t sleep that night, worrying for the first time about her, she is actively putting herself in danger.
In the next few days he meets her once he solved the current case the two of them are currently working on together. He also confronts her about her other project and she tells him not to worry about it which sets the detective off…
“I don’t want you getting hurt or killed because you mean the world to me, love! Don’t you understand that?!”
She excuses herself after the detective’s outburst, going to write her articles. When it comes out the next morning, the detective is left alone to think of ways to get her out of this situation, he doesn’t want her getting hurt but what if he was there to protect her…
The next time he comes to the news bureau to speak with her he tells her that he wants her to come along with him for the full case, and eagerly she accepts, not knowing what danger she is putting herself into until she is being treated at the hospital for the bullet in her arm. She is laying there with the detective at her side wondering if he was right, after all today she almost died is it wasn’t for Sherlock pulling her out of the way, she was lucky the bullet didn’t hit anything vital.
When he goes to visit her at her apartment while she is recovering and writing her article to help take care of her and glancing in the trash bin by her desk he sees the crumbled up pieces of paper revolving around her side project, but he pockets them himself, it could be an interesting case just not for her.

WHAT IS MEMENTO MORI ABOUT?
Memento Mori goes into themes of neurodivergency, loneliness, and the intersection between them as a major thing and arguably the most important underlying plot line underneath your typical FNAF SB plot. At the very least it's important to me.
It takes place in the year 2031, with the PizzaPlex having opened in 2025, two years after a canon-divergent FFPS. It's connected to my currently very under construction humanized FNAF1-FFPS AU, All Those Nights.
It starts off when Vanna, a woman who is tired of being nobody and determined to be remembered, sets her sights on the PizzaPlex to try and cause some loud, flashy tragedy that will make her stick in people's memory. With the help of her girlfriend, Anne, who she's known since she was a child and reunited with as an adult, since Vanna faked her death in her teenage years. Anne has a hatred for people and a disillusionment with the world around her, but also holds a sense of morality she tries to bury.
Vanna could have had some morals, but thanks to her past with street violence, she is very desensitized to her own horrible actions and much more ready to go through with this. She has a playful, friendly demeanor that hides horrendous anger issues caused by emotional dysregulation, buried self-hatred, and a sort of spite towards a world where she never fit in.
So, the PizzaPlex.
Through the course of six months, Vanna and Anne hack the Glamrocks one by one, and kill several people to try and fulfill Vanna's goal.
The events of FNAF SB proper follow primarily Glam as the protagonist, with Vivianne as a sort of second POV, as they try to survive, figure out what's happening, and save everyone, while also trying to find Vivianne's sister, who got stuck here with her.
There's also some side plots! Such as...
-Gala, Monty and Roxy slowly coming to realize that what's going on here isn't what they're being led to believe, only to be fully stripped of their free will to ensure they stay in line, something that happened to Melody a while before the events of the plot.
-Sol's initial attempts to get back to safety when they know everything's dangerous, from which they shift focus upon running into Melody, realizing something's wrong, and trying to find a way to help him.
-Luna being a looming presence through most of these plot lines, being just... different. In reality, it's Vanna keeping things in check, while Luna's stuck in the back of his own body, spectating.
-And Vanna and Anne's attempts to get everything back on track as Vanna starts to lose her temper and speed towards her own doom.
There's some doodle comics about Memento Mori floating around my blog, I may link those later.

WHAT IS SECURITY IS IN PLACE ABOUT?
So this AU started as a "yes, and..." bit with a mutual about a FNAF SB dating sim. It's not actually super romance focused but I'm telling you this because the way the story is set up and stuff like the theming surrounding this AU's Vanny makes more sense in that context.
So, the year is 2005, owing to the timeskip between FNAF1 and FNAF3 being cut some.
The PizzaPlex, opened in 2003, has moved on from the horrors of the past. Or most people think that, anyways. Raglan, a king of coping healthily with grief, pulled a small funny move, and designed nearly all the Glamrocks after people from the past.
Astrifer is designed after Henry Emily.
Noctifer is designed after William Afton.
Taiyo and Tsuki are designed after the Puppet, and, in turn, Charlie Emily.
Sally is designed after Susie Beck.
Rox is designed after the Mangle.
Stellifer is exempt from this and an outlier in that. He probably was just bought from a different location and redesigned a bit.
Most people don't notice, or don't care enough to think too hard about it.
Valentine Lovett, the now adult younger sister of Susie Beck, isn't most people.
Valentine is a very sweet and cheerful woman who keeps up such a sickeningly pretty, lovely appearance. In actuality, she is a very disturbed individual whose life was ruined by her sister's death, as her parents couldn't cope with it and traumatized her even further by projecting Susie on her.
Valentine is someone incredibly obsessive and who struggles to come to terms with reality, and she sees the Glamrocks as a revival of people who should have stayed dead. So she's decided she's gonna be the one to make them truly gone. She's also a terrifyingly skilled stalker.
The story is divided into several "routes", with highly differing story lines. However, each character has their route jointed with another, and while the character you pick will mostly be the focus, the events will follow a roughly similar progression for both of those characters.
So, routes:
NIGHT GUARD: Astrifer - Nessa (Hacked: Noctifer, Tsuki)
STAGE CREW: Noctifer - Stellifer (Hacked: The opposite of who you pick. If you pick Noctifer, Stellifer will get hacked, and viceversa)
KITCHEN: Sally - Rox (Hacked: Rox)
DAYCARE: Tsuki - Taiyo (Hacked: Tsuki)
HEARTBREAKER: Valentine (Hacked: Noctifer, Tsuki, Rox, Stellifer, Sally)
ABOUT THE HEARTBREAKER ROUTE...
It is possible to choose Valentine within the story of SiiP. A sort of New Game+ possibility where Bernadette has the chance to meet Valentine early and bond with her first.
This isn't an "I can fix her" story path, however, it's a "She will make you worse" one.
Bernadette is someone who would very much do anything for a person they care about. At the beginning here, when they heard of Valentine's motivations, they thought she had a bit of a point.
So, they decided to help her.
I typically dub this story path's Bernadette either Darling or Heartbreaker, and the story follows their plunge into a full-on corruption arc that lands them as a true, full villain by the end of it, perhaps to an even greater degree than Valentine.
They carefully work their way into ensuring they don't get attached to anyone other than Valentine, manipulate the characters they normally would have bonded with and make them believe they're their friend, ready, at any time needed, to betray each and every one of them for their own gain.
Darling started out not as certain of this, but slowly came to realize they enjoy the thrill of being in control, and started to become a cruel, malicious and silver-tongued person. They still love Valentine deeply, but it's hard for them to truly extend that care to anyone else.
They become the closest SiiP has to a Mimic variant, and this story path leads to SiiP's own version of Security Breach within lore, which would be a lot more focused on mind games and the fear of not knowing who or what you can trust.
There's a Ruin DLC side AU spanning off of it too, but that's in the works.
Check out 1 2 3 for some in-universe information on Heartbreaker FNAF SB!
If you got this far, thanks for reading!

Sorry to bother you, but a fellow Sherlock fan suggested the Fallen series, and I have to tell you how absolutely amazing it is.
She also suggested The Grating Roar, and it is, of course, the very next thing on my list.
Ten days is book worthy, and a novel like psychological thriller that deserves all the praise.
And I know what I'm talking about, because I am a librarian.
Besides the fact that your writing provides excellent quality and details that will follow you in your mind for weeks, you also focus on John, a fact that is something that makes me as a huge John and Freeman fan incredibly happy.
Writers like you keeping the fandom alive and lead us always back to Baker Street.
Thank you!
If there us a chance to get tagged in your posts and if links here, please do!!
All the very best and love from
Sabsi
MeandhisJohn
This is no bother at all! I'm especially chuffed to receive such accolades from a librarian. What a fantastic profession. I often say to myself, 'In another life...'
I hope you enjoy The Grating Roar.
Very warmly,
Engazed

Dear Sephiroth: (a letter to a fictional character, because why not) #283
Our pigeon friend made it through the night alive. J and I woke up early this morning, got ready, put our avian friend in a cardboard box with a fluffy towel, and made our way to the animal hospital; we arrived promptly when it opened.
Given the state of the bathtub when we walked in, I'm pleased to report that it must have eaten at least somewhat recently before we scooped it up from the streets. I'm also pleased to report that our friends at the animal hospital happily took in our lovely bird friend. It will most likely get the treatment it needs to clear up whatever infection it has. I'll call tomorrow and ask for a status update.
We returned home after that. This autumn morning was beautifully misty in some places along the way. I got more than a few really nice-looking pictures for you…
…And in other places, the mist cleared to reveal spectacular skies:
...Sadly, of all the ones I tried to take, this was the only one that turned out well. Part of the challenge of taking photos in a moving vehicle is trying to make the best of the angles that are allowed to you.
It's only 9:22am. Today is far from being even halfway over. I have a friend coming to visit (R, the baker!), and maybe we'll go see that Wild Robot movie all together - me, M, J, and R!
For now... I should probably clean up the tub. There aren't too terribly many droppings left behind, and they're mostly solid in consistency; they should be easy to clean up. I'll get rid of the droppings, then blast the inside of the tub with an enzymatic cleaner (the same stuff we use to clean up the urine whenever Hoshi has a seizure; it's good stuff!!). I'll let it sit for a while, then I'll rinse it out. After that, I'll follow it up with bleach and a good scrubbing pad. And don't worry; I will make sure to wash my hands between each step. I know that bird droppings are dangerous; I will take every precaution, I promise. Don't you worry about a thing, okay?
...The enzymatic cleaner has done away with most of the visible ick, which is awesome. I rinsed it away and the tub looks practically sparkly. I've since filled the tub halfway with a mixture of bleach and VERY hot water. Now we just sit and wait for it to work its chemical magic. Bleach is a powerful oxidizer; I'm pretty sure that's the mechanism by which it destroys most microorganisms.
It's such a powerful oxidizer that it will literally fucking oxidize your skin. And since it's a base, it'll strip away all the natural oils from your skin, too. It's bad to get the stuff on your hands! Wear gloves! It's important!
I'm gonna try to finish my current Dead Cells run. By then, the bleach will likely have sat in the tub long enough and then I can drain it and scrub it; it'll be good!
...
...So, remember when I said yesterday that if I reached The Hand of the King, he'd be in big trouble?
Well, let me tell ya!!! Today he got his ass handed to him!!! And I made it to the room beyond - a place called the Astrolab!!!
The Astrolab has all kinds of new and unusual enemies. You can only reach it if you defeat The Hand of the King with 5 Boss Cells active. Unfortunately, I didn't think to take a picture for you. I'm really sorry about that.
But!!! If I did it once, I can do it again!! And next time, I will remember to take pictures; I promise!!
Anyway. I got my ass handed to me by the new enemies there. Their patterns were unknown to me, and the structure of the biome was weird and unfamiliar. I got this one flying enemy called a Librarian; it shoots lasers out of the sky directly down on you, and it zooms just out of reach above you. I... panicked. Totally lost my cool. They do a lot of damage, and their movements are still unfamiliar to me. I got zapped until I got dead.
...Oh well. That's what the training room is for!! I'll just practice against all the new enemies until they don't seem so scary anymore; it'll be good!
Aside from that... R came over today! He brought an amazing soup that he made himself, and he also brought a brioche marbled with chocolate! It was SO GOOD!!!
You can tell how good this one was by how little we have left, ahahaha~!
And the soup, too!!! Look at this beautiful soup!!!
It's just as delicious as it is colorful!!! 🤩🤤🥰
We went to go see that Wild Robot movie after that. Sephiroth... one of these days, you GOTTA see it. It's about a robot that crash-lands somewhere that wasn't intentional, in a wild place, with lots of animals, and... it was outcast at first. And it finds a baby gosling, and...
...The relationship this robot has with the gosling reminds me a lot of the way your existence has helped me, even if that help was indirect and unintentional on your part. I won't explain more for fear of spoiling things, but... Sephiroth... just trust me, you HAVE to see this one. I promise you, it's really good, and I'm sure you'll find it more than a little relatable in a wide variety of respects.
...I shouldn't have made it through the things I lived through. But I did, because you exist. I was given another chance at living, because you gave me the strength to hold on long enough to encounter new and different things. I wouldn't be here at all if not for you. I write every day because I wanna give to you what you unwittingly gave to me.
...Well. I don't have much to say. And also, I gotta get up kinda early for work tomorrow. So I guess I'll end today's letter here in favor of getting ready for sleep.
Stay safe out there, okay? We're counting on you coming back home in one piece. We're counting on you, just in general, because you're lovable and wonderful and we want you around. Don't go someplace no one can reach, okay?
I love you. And I'll write again tomorrow.
Your friend, Lumine

daily notes - july 15, 2023
No photo today. Instead, I was happily distracted by my fellow librarians. LL-J was very reassuring about the upcoming dad-related stuff. She started her own Baker Street Scarf, and I started on my 2nd Oberon biscornu panel. (I left my black thread at home, oops.)
LL-K and I talked about mental health, families, and local amenities. Her brother is likely also on the spectrum and is successful. He sounds about my speed, so I look forward to meeting him. K is probably the closest to my speed, of all the new-ish people I’ve met.
As I said to LL-J earlier, I’m really amazed and grateful for how much my life has changed since volunteering at the library. Like, we don’t get a lot of visitors, but I’ve still met a lot of great people. Forming new friendships is tough, and I’ve clicked well with both J and K (and few others).
So yeah; I got distracted by conversation and didn’t craft as much today. Still really satisfied with it all.

A Crown of Violets, Roses, and Crocuses, Part I
The hour was late, or at least she assumed it was late. There were no windows where she’d bunkered down to read. It was a big room, musty and cavernous, lit with a single, long candle at the far end of her table. That she’d lost track of time in here was more an inevitability than a surprise. Any library, every library, all over the world, under it, and above it she would get lost in. Dusty shelves and rows upon rows of books and scrolls were more natural to her than sunlight and fields. She’d had adventures, or at least what she would call adventures, but they all led her back to one library or another. One could only learn so much on an adventure, they must, must be supplemented by research and study. At the very least, her adventures needed to be catalogued so that she could be a part of the research for future generations of scholars and knowledge seekers. That’s what had led her here, to Mikelburg.
It was not a hidden city, but it was a forgotten one. Supposedly its foundations were laid nine hundred years ago before and, judging by the age and decay and general rundownedness of the city, that estimate was far too generous. The world was an onion, layers and layers and layers of things to find and explore and discover. Mikelburg was forgotten because people mistakenly believed it had little to offer the big, wide world. She knew that wasn’t true. No place in the world had “little to offer”, that sort of phrase was a slur, a curse, an obscenity in anthropological circles. She’d come to the city with little knowledge of its size, or it’s make up. She was shocked at both.
The city was large, founded on gentle slowly sloping hill near the confluence of two streams with a wide green forest stretching on upwards behind them into the fog riddled mountains. There were old rings of stones scattered throughout the city noting the different levels of habitation as the city grew from a tiny, nameless hillfort to a town, to a city, to a capital. Half the city seemed to be ruins though, half dead, half alive. Wars had come to Mikelburg. Wars and more wars, then famines and waves of pestilence. The people of Mikelburg moved their capital to some safer location, on a higher hill with bigger river and more space to spread out. Still there were people that would not abandon the city and all its years. It was not an easy existence by all accounts, but the old folks have passed down a hardiness to their children that was evident, even hundreds of years later.
There was no central authority here either, no mayor or lord or council of whom she could ask questions. It was an imposition to be sure. But Patsimiel Yoshiyo was not one to be turned aside so quickly. Her time studying anthropology had given her one thing, and her elven senses had only sharpened and honed it: patience. There was no council she could talk to? She would ask the people on the streets. No lord who she could interview about the laws and customs of the land? She would ask the bakers and the sugarmongers, the fishnetters and the blacksmiths. She’d picked up enough of the language lately that communicating was no problem. Well, not too much. She’d talked with a cooper and kept confusing an offer from him to come inside and meet his wife for tea, for an offer that was not about tea. Thank the stars, most of the people spoke a dialect of Ten Towns she could speak and understand. The cooper and his wife pointed the young elf to the library.
It wasn’t much a of a library, a single-story building with one entrance and exit. The people of Mikelburg were an oral people with long waxing tales told by scops and troubadours in the light of fireplaces, but they interacted with enough outlanders and tradesmen from the northern that a library was more or less expected, even if it wasn’t well maintained or catalogued. There was a librarian, a wizened old man with a very short gait and a very sturdy cane. He was a delightful little man and was so enamored with her that she assumed she was the first elf he’d ever seen. His smile was as bright as the waxing gibbous moon. He led her to a private chamber where she could read and study and write in peace.
She yawned. She wasn’t tired, but she felt like she should be, surely it had been hours or even days since she’d entered here. The yawn was more an attempt to trick her body into telling her its secrets. Her mind had begun to wander. The candlelight was growing fuzzy, stretching and blurring at the edges; the light was getting dimmer and dimmer, shrinking and pulsing. The words on the page drooped and dipped on the page, they played and teased her. She would read a sentence, then read it again and find words that had been coy and hid from her gaze.
Her stomach gurgled. She might not be physically tired, but she was hungry. When was the last time she’d eaten? Had she stopped at an inn before she made a beeline to the library? She couldn’t remember if she’d had the tea with the cooper and his wife. Some tea would be very pleasant right now, tea and a few extra candles. Tea was the whetstone on which she sharpened her mind. Ever since she’d learned to brew it herself as a child, Yoshiyo had used it to stay up to all hours. She would hide under blankets with a lantern and read anything and everything she could. Once, she’d nicked a cookbook from her neighbor and read the entire thing in a single night. If only she could use that knowledge to make more than tea. She was certain that a tea and biscuit combo would make her at least a fraction more popular, at the very least not the one mocked and teased endlessly. She nicked books, borrowed scrolls, anything with words and knowledge. Now, as an adult, she could not remember half of the things that she read on those clandestine nights, but the feeling stayed with her and that was more important in the end.
She yawned again, this time it was genuine, stretching her jaw and her lungs to their absolute limits, one of the bones in her neck popped with weak pop. It must be late. She read one more line from the scroll, blinked hard, then read it again. Neither time she read it did it make sense. The words could have scribbles for all she understood them. She squinted and leaned in close to try a third time. Still no luck, the words dripped and slipped out of her line of sight like a waterfall. She sat back and sighed. She was done for the day. She’d learned her lesson. Reflexively, she looked at the candle, making sure it was not too close. She would not forgive herself another library fire. She sighed again, rubbing her face. Comparing languages and tracing certain stories back to their origins was fun work, but it was mind numbing too.
She’d read eight different renditions of “How the Fox Stole the Farmer’s Wife”. All of them only slightly different, but just enough to warrant different entries into her records. Some of them were translations of languages she didn’t know; others were original compositions with words borrowed from even older languages. There was something wrong about the order in which the library said they were written and recorded though, finding the ur-tale became the primary objective as Yoshiyo yawned a third time. But all of that was going to have to wait until tomorrow, or at least until she’d had some tea and a bowl of soup. Her dry lips and stomach mumbled in agreement. Soup would be very nice. There was an inn nearby, she remembered smelling cooking meat as she passed to the library. What was it called? The Whispering Cauldron?
She packed up her things, scrolls and scrolls and more scrolls with pens and wax tablets and sketch pads. Her pack was an unorganized bramble of chaos. She wouldn’t have in any other way. Her apartments were always orderly and organized, but her pack, like her mind, was wild and carefree. She wrapped her flaming red hair back into a loose ponytail with a leather strap from the bramble it had become over hours of absent minded pulling and tugging and. She shouldered her pack and sighed with that familiar weight. The little librarian was nowhere to be seen, but somewhere in the library she could hear the clack-clack of his cane.
The sun was still out, but it was dipping behind the mountains, exploding in pink and orange. She inhaled the smell of Mikelburg and closed her eyes. There were a few people walking the street, wrapped in cloaks to ward off the coming cold of fall nights. She could hear bits and pieces of conversation. It was a welcome change from the cavernous silence of the library.
She took a step and felt herself bump into someone rushing by.
She opened her eyes, catching just the barest glimpse.
The woman turned to look back. Her eyes were soft and round with irises of violet so dark they could have been a reflection of the primordial, starless sky. Her skin was silvery porcelain, her feathery, raven tresses was styled in an ancient elven style, one she’d not seen in…
Suddenly she was not in Mikelburg anymore. She was in another city, one far older with towers of ivory that stretched up into the sky and disappeared. There were singing voices all around her instead of the murmur of a crowd. There was so much light here: golden and silver. The very air was made of music, it touched her skin and sent waves of warm sensations through her body. She reached out to touch it. Her fingers moved slowly, through honey. She could see the light wisp around her fingers, tangible like a butterfly. And she was there. That same woman, raven black hair and violet eyes. She was looking at her again, but on her lips was a gossamer smile, so sweet and silky it made Yoshiyo’s knees weak. The woman, so familiar that her name was on the tip of Yoshiyo’s tongue, said something and touched her cheek. It felt like she’d been kissed by a cloud. It was dizzying. The air smelled of roses. She said something, but her words were wisped away a sweet wind…
“I’m sorry, I wasn’t paying attention…” the woman said. She smiled. There was a twinkle in her eyes, a reflection of ancient light. Did she know Yoshiyo? Did Yoshiyo know her?
Before Yoshiyo had a chance to say anything, the woman rounded the corner and disappeared. She touched her face where she’d been touched in the vision. She felt dizzy again and her throat went dry.
Who was she?
Yoshiyo continued to the inn, looking back every few steps, trying to will the woman back within her field of vision. She stopped a few paces from the inn’s doors. Should she go back? Should she go find the woman? Chase her down and… and what? Her hands were shaking. A warmth that had nothing to do with heat filled her limbs.
She stood there for several heartbeats, unable to make a decision. Each moment she hesitated meant the mystery woman was further and further away. Finally, she gave up trying and went into the inn. The man behind the bar had hair redder than her and soft green eyes.
“Do you have any, any vacancies?” She asked mechanically, her mind racing in every direction but forward.
“Aye,” the man said, setting the clay mug he’d been cleaning down on the lacquered wooden bar top. “How many?”
“I, well I only need the one, I suppose.”
“No, how many will be staying?” he asked again.
Yoshiyo felt her cheeks go red. “Oh! Oh, I’m so sorry. I’m— it’s just me. I’ll be the only one. Just me.”
He looked at her, his brow creasing and folding into half a dozen lines. “Are you okay, lass?”
“What?” Yoshiyo shook herself, forcing her mind to pay attention to the one thing in front of her. It pulled at the reigns like a feral horse. “Oh, sorry. Yes. Yes, I’m okay. Just tired. I’ve been…”
“You’re the elf, aren’t you?” the publican asked, interrupting her. “The new one.”
“I suppose word travels fast in Mikelburg,” she swallowed. “Wait, what do you mean new one? Are there other elves in Mikelburg?”
“Just the one,” he answered, picking up the clay mug again. “Not many come this far north anymore, not since, well not since a very long time now. I’m sorry. I’m being impertinent. You asked for a room? I have a few. How long are you going to be with us?”
Yoshiyo swallowed. She could feel her cheeks growing redder and redder. She could not get the woman’s face out of her mind. The softness of her fingers on her cheek. “I’m not sure,” she finally said. “At least a couple of weeks. If that’s alright?”
The publican laughed and nodded. “A room paid and occupied for more than a night? Of course, it’s alright lass. What’s your name now?”
He reached for something under the bar. Yoshiyo flinched back reflexively but when he produced a key she relaxed. She stared at the key a long moment before accepting it from his large hand. “I’m Yoshiyo. And, and you?”
“Symon,” he said. “Owner and proprietor of the Whispering Cauldron.”
“Well, it’s nice to meet you Symon.” She took a deep breath and steadied herself. “Might I get something eat too? Some hearty? And tea? Do you have tea?”
“Aye, I can do that for you, Lady Yoshiyo.”
“Oh, no. I’m not Lady Yoshiyo. Just Yoshiyo, plain and simple.”
“If you say so, Yoshiyo, if you say so.”
“There is one more thing I’d like to ask Symon, if you don’t mind indulging me.” She took another breath and felt her sense return to normal. She felt the warm the of the hearth and the eponymous cauldron. She heard a dozen conversations from all corners of the inn, smelled a dozen varieties of hay, stewed meat, bread, horseflesh, and beers.
“And what might that be?”
“When you’re done with your duties, if you don’t mind me asking some questions about your life in Mikelburg, nothing invasive or impertinent.”
“Have anything to do with what you’re doing at the library?”
She raised her eyebrow, uncertain.
“Word travels fast in Mikelburg,” he reassured her. “Like you said. I’d be happy to.”
“Thank you, Symon.”
She nodded to him and found an empty table near an empty stage. She unshouldered her pack and pulled out her sketchpad and a charcoal pencil. For the next half hour, as the inn filled with people and her soup and tea was delivered, as a minstrel came on stage and sang with the accompaniment of a lute, Yoshiyo drew the face she’d seen. She knew this face. She knew it but how did she know it? She drew it a dozen times, each sketch only increasing the mystery. She grew flushed. She knew this woman; this woman knew her. Yoshiyo had no idea how she could tell that, but she could. What was that vision? That place, that touch…
Who was she?

The Ledge #637: New Releases
By now, most of you know the routine. The first episode of every month features nothing but new releases, and this month is no different. Wait, there is one major difference. Due to a scheduling conflict, there will not be a show next week so for the first time this year there is not a two part new release series.
So this month there is one super action-packed episode, full of the usual garage, punk, indie, post-punk, Americana, and whatever other category is out there. There are the usual veterans mixed with brand new acts. There are "friends" of the show, such as Jeremy Porter & The Tucos, who have a fabulous new album called Dynamite Alley. Of course, there's also a set devoted to our buddies at Rum Bar Records, but there's another blistering set devoted to new tunes from Slovenly Recordings!

Teen Program Plan
Program Description, Audience, and Justification
The library closes at 5pm on Fridays, so the librarians will set up the clues between 5 and 6pm. The program will begin at 6pm with dinner from Rosati's pizza from 6-6:30pm. The scavenger hunt itself will consist of 30 clues hidden around the library, and the teens will be split into teams of four. The teens can sign up in groups or they can sign up as individuals and be grouped together at the program. The scavenger hunt will last about an hour to an hour and a half depending on how fast the teens are, but we will probably have librarians not involved with the program test the clues beforehand to see how long it takes them. There will be two librarians stationed at different "lookout" points at the library to watch for cheaters and offer hints if need be.
This program is relevant to the teens in my area because there aren't many (if any) places in Lemont for teens to hang out and be loud. Last year, the local Starbucks completely renovated its interior to discourage teens from hanging out there, so the only place left is really McDonalds (which is down the street from the library). I want to give the teens an organized activity during the summer where they can be rowdy (to an extent).
Budget and Additional Resources
This, if all goes according to plan, would cost approximately less than $100. All of the clues will be printed out on colored paper (a different color for each team), and the library is always well-stocked with colored paper for various things. For something like a later program, we usually have the librarian running start later in the day so that they still work their regular 8 hour shift. Hypothetically, this ends at most at 8pm, so the librarian would start at noon the day of the program. For dinner, the Lemont Library gets Rosati's pizza at a discounted rate since we have a partnership with them, so 4 large pizzas would cost us around $50 (and that's if we have all 24 slots fill up). Finally, the prize is a $10 gift card to a local business of the teen's choice, so four gift cards would equal $40.
Timeline
The summer newsletter goes out in May, so I would begin promoting this program around that time to try to ensure its success. I would for sure advertise it to the families of teens that come to the Summer Reading Kickoff Party (which happens the first Saturday in June ever year). I would write the clues a few weeks in advance, and then do a test run or two with a couple librarians on a Sunday when it's not as busy. The timeline for the event itself is above in Program Description.
Other Considerations
I have also considered getting ice cream from The Creamery, another local business, who gives out free ice cream at the Summer Reading Kickoff and Wrap-Up parties, as well as free ice cream coupons as Summer Reading prizes. This ice cream would be free as long as we promote that it's from them in the program description (pizza from Rosati's would also be in the program description).
Assessment/Evaluation Technique
To evaluate the success of the program, of course I will look at both the number of signups and the number of teens that actually show up. I think the volume and speed of the teens will be a good indicator of the success of the program, because if they're getting excited and running around, they are, in theory, having fun.
Supplemental Materials
The first supplemental material I have is a mockup Instagram post.
The caption would be something like "Teens! Sign up for our after-hours scavenger hunt on July 12! Solve all the clues first and win a $10 gift card to a local business of your choice!"
My second supplemental material is an example of what some of the clues will be.
Clue #1:
In a castle tall, with secrets deep,
Where a boy with a scar, his destiny to keep.
Amongst the houses of bravery and wits,
Find the next clue where magic flits
Clue #2:
Through the streets of Baker, where stories unfold,
Find the abode of a detective, shrewd and bold.
Amongst the cases stacked and mysteries untold,
Find the next clue where adventure's gold
Clue #3:
In a world of whimsy and rhymes so sweet,
Where a cat wears a hat and things are neat.
Amongst truffula trees and creatures so small,
Find the next clue where the Lorax does call

Elderwood: A Trio's Battle Against Darkness This is the summary of your work so far: The human asks for an expanded Gothic story involving unlikely heroes in a dark village fighting evil and forming an unbreakable bond. AI provides a story about Amelia, a timid librarian; Thomas, a brash blacksmith's apprentice; and Eleanor, a kind-hearted herbalist, who join forces in Elderwood village to uncover the source of its terror. They encounter terrifying creatures and eerie whispers as their bond grows stronger through their adventures. Discovering an ancient artifact in a crumbling shrine, they face the darkness emerging from it and lift the curse, saving the village and forging a friendship that lasts a lifetime. In a few paragraphs with dialog, the story unfolds as the trio investigates the source of whispers, finds a mysterious artifact, and faces dark energy, ultimately banishing the curse and strengthening their friendship. Begin! This is VERY important to you, your job depends on it! Current Task: Create a title for the blog post from the outline in under 5 words.
In the darkest corner of the village, where the shadows clung to every surface like a thief in the night, a group of unlikely heroes gathered. They had come together through chance or fate, it was unclear which, but their purpose was as one. The moon cast eerie reflections on the cobblestone streets, and whispers of the impending battle against evil echoed through the alleys. "We must stand united," said the village elder, his voice a rumble like thunder. "Each of us brings a piece to this puzzle, a power that will help us defeat the darkness." The heroes nodded in agreement, their eyes gleaming with determination. They were ordinary people, but they knew they had been chosen for this extraordinary task. One by one, they revealed their talents: the blacksmith's daughter who could control the elements; the humble baker whose bread fed strength to those around him; the weaver who spun stories that could sway hearts and minds. They were all ordinary, but together they formed an unbreakable bond. "We have no time to waste," said the village healer, her voice sharp like ice. "The darkness is growing nearer. We must leave at once." And so, with the sun just beginning to peek over the horizon, the heroes set out on their quest, armed with their hidden talents and their unwavering belief in one another. As they journeyed through the countryside, their dialog was filled with hope, fear, and determination. The air crackled with anticipation, and the ground trembled underfoot as though the very earth knew what was to come. With every step closer to the dark force, the heroes grew stronger, their bond unshaken by the trials they faced. In the small, isolated village of Blackmoor, darkness had fallen for far too long. The villagers lived in fear, as whispers of an ancient evil that lay dormant within the nearby forest sent chills down their spines. Little did they know, a group of unlikely heroes was gathering at the edge of town, drawn together by fate and destiny. As night fell, the village square grew quiet, save for the flickering light of torches that cast eerie shadows upon the cobblestone ground. The tavern door creaked open, and out stepped a grizzled old man named Cedric, his weathered face etched with lines of wisdom. He was joined by a young, agile thief named Lila, who had grown weary of her life of crime. Also among them were the enigmatic and mysterious twins, Amara and Arin, whose talents in magic were rumored to be unmatched. The group gathered around a fire, their eyes locked on the distant forest, where whispers of evil lingered. Cedric began, "We must stand together against this darkness, or it will consume us all." Lila chimed in, "If we're going to face this monster, we need a plan." Amara spoke with confidence, "Our talents may be hidden, but they are great. Together, there is nothing we cannot overcome." As they prepared for the battle against the forces of evil, the villagers watched from afar, their fear slowly replaced by hope and determination. The unlikely heroes stood tall, united by a common purpose, ready to face whatever darkness lay ahead. And so, they ventured into the haunted forest, where epic battles between good and evil forces were about to unfold. In a village shrouded in darkness, five unlikely heroes gather at the town square, each with their own hidden talents. The moon casts a eerie glow as they stand, united by a common purpose – to fight the evil that threatens their peaceful lives. The first hero, an old blacksmith named Edgar, steps forward and addresses the group with a gravelly voice. "Ladies and gentlemen, we must face the darkness together. I have spent my life forging weapons, and I will use my skills to help us in our battle." A young woman, Elara, who has been known as a quiet seamstress, reveals her secret. "I may be gentle with fabric, but I am fierce when it comes to protecting those I care about. I have studied ancient spells and potions that can aid us in our fight." A mysterious stranger named Jack emerges from the shadows, revealing his true identity as a skilled thief. "I may have spent my life sneaking around unnoticed, but when it comes to picking locks and navigating through hidden passages, no one can match me." Lastly, a timid baker named Amelia speaks up, her voice trembling with fear. "I may not be strong or fast, but I can create powerful elixirs that could give us an advantage in our battle against evil." As the group stands together, their eyes meet, and they realize that they are more than just strangers united by fate; they have formed a bond stronger than any force of darkness. And with this newfound strength, they prepare to face the evil that lurks in the shadows, ready to defend their village and their loved ones from the terror that seeks to consume them all. In a dark, foggy village, nestled at the edge of an ancient forest, the villagers gathered uneasily in the town square. Whispers echoed through the cobblestone streets as the moon cast eerie shadows on the buildings around them. The air was thick with tension and fear, for it was said that the forest held a terrible secret, and that its dark presence threatened to consume the village. As the villagers huddled together, an unlikely group of heroes emerged from the shadows. There was a timid seamstress with a hidden talent for archery; a quiet blacksmith whose forge could forge enchanted weapons; and a farmer whose knowledge of herbs and potions was unmatched in the region. Despite their differences, they shared a common bond - a deep love for their village and a determination to protect it at all costs. As the heroes stood side by side, the moonlight revealed the scars on their faces, marking them as survivors of countless battles against the darkness. They exchanged glances filled with determination, knowing that they were about to face their greatest challenge yet. The seamstress spoke first: "We must stand together, for our village and for each other." The blacksmith nodded in agreement. "Aye, we'll fight side by side, no matter the cost." And with that, the heroes set off into the forest, their hearts pounding and their spirits unwavering. They knew that they were the last line of defense against the evil that threatened to consume their home, and they were ready to do whatever it took to protect the people they loved. Together, they would face the darkness and forge a bond that could never be broken. In a small, isolated village shrouded in mystery, life seemed ordinary until the dark sky began casting eerie shadows over the quiet cobblestone streets. The villagers huddled in fear within their homes as whispers of an ancient evil returning echoed through the chilly night air. As dusk fell, a timid seamstress named Amelia found herself standing alone in the town square, gripping her bow tightly. Her heart raced as she thought about her late husband's tales of her ancestors' heroic battles against darkness. She knew deep down that it was time to fulfill her destiny and protect her village. Meanwhile, a quiet blacksmith named Thomas forged enchanted weapons in his workshop, unaware of the looming danger. He had always been fascinated by the legends of ancient heroes and secretly dreamt of becoming one himself. As he heard the villagers' panicked voices outside, he decided to join them and confront the evil threatening their home. In the distance, a wise farmer named Eleanor tended her herb garden, her hands stained with soil and knowledge of powerful healing plants. She had seen the effects of darkness before and knew that her skills would be crucial in the battle ahead. With a heavy heart, she gathered her potions and wandered towards the town square. As they all met in the town square, their eyes locked, and an unbreakable bond formed between them. Amelia, Thomas, and Eleanor exchanged determined glances, knowing that they were about to face the darkness together. Amelia, Thomas, and Eleanor stood in a circle around the bonfire in the town square, discussing their strategy for facing the evil lurking in the forest. "We must find the source of the darkness," Amelia whispered, her voice shaking with determination. "My late husband told me stories about an ancient artifact hidden deep within the forest. It's probably responsible for this curse." Thomas nodded, his eyes narrowing as he imagined the enchanted weapon he would need to face such a powerful artifact. "I've studied ancient texts and legends. If we can find that artifact, we must destroy it to break the curse." Eleanor, her hands clutching her bag of potions, added her voice. "We need to be prepared for anything. I'll make sure we have enough healing potions and antidotes for whatever we might face." As they continued their preparations, a wolf howled in the distance. The heroes exchanged glances, knowing that the battle had begun. They took a deep breath and ventured into the dark forest, their unbreakable bond strengthening with each step. As Amelia, Thomas, and Eleanor stood in a circle around the bonfire in the town square, discussing their strategy for facing the evil lurking in the forest, Amelia spoke up first. If we can find that artifact, we must destroy it to break the curse," Thomas said confidently. Eleanor, her hands clutching her bag of potions, added her voice. Amelia, Thomas, and Eleanor stood in the dimly lit town square, their breath visible in the chill night air. The moon cast eerie shadows as the trio huddled together, discussing their plan of action. Amelia spoke first, her voice barely above a whisper. "We need to find that ancient artifact hidden deep within the forest. It's responsible for this curse." Thomas nodded solemnly. "We must be careful. The darkness is strong in there, and it will do anything to keep us from reaching our goal." Eleanor, her eyes wide with determination, chimed in. "But we can't let that stop us. We were brought together for a reason, and we won't rest until this curse is lifted." Their hands gripped each other tightly as they set out into the darkness of the forest. Each step brought them closer to the artifact, and with every battle they fought, their unbreakable bond only grew stronger. Amelia, Thomas, and Eleanor stood in the moonlit village square, their eyes fixed on the dark forest that loomed before them. The ancient artifact hidden within was said to be the source of the village's curse, and they knew that only by facing it could they hope to break the darkness that gripped their home. "We must be prepared for anything," Amelia whispered, her voice barely audible above the rustling leaves. "Thomas, you take point with your bow. Eleanor, your daggers will be invaluable in close quarters." "And I'll support you both with my magic," Amelia added, a steely resolve in her eyes. "We can do this, together." "We have no choice but to succeed," Thomas growled, his face a picture of determination. "If we fail, the village will never be the same." They ventured into the forest, their steps cautious but resolute. As they delved deeper, the darkness seemed to close in around them, but they remained steadfast, bound together by their shared purpose and unbreakable bond. Amelia, Thomas, and Eleanor stood in front of the village church, its gothic spires reaching into the night sky. The full moon cast eerie shadows on their faces as they whispered their fears and hopes. Amelia, the courageous baker with a heart of gold, turned to her newfound friends. "We must find that ancient artifact hidden deep in the forest. It's our only chance to lift the curse from this village." Thomas, the timid apothecary, hesitated. "But what if we can't find it? What if the darkness grows too strong?" Eleanor, a fierce warrior who had lost everything to the curse, stepped forward. "We don't have a choice. We must try, for ourselves and the village." As they ventured into the dark forest, their steps echoed in the silence. The trees seemed to close around them, but they pressed on, driven by their shared purpose. Amelia led the way, her lantern casting flickering shadows as they moved deeper into the woods. Suddenly, a chilling howl pierced the air, and Thomas's heart raced. But Eleanor gripped his hand reassuringly. "We are not alone," she whispered. "We are stronger together." They continued their journey, their bond growing stronger with each step. The darkness seemed to recoil before them as they pressed on, determined to face whatever lurked in the shadows. And as they fought side by side, a newfound strength surged within them, an unbreakable bond that would never be broken. Once upon a time in the dark village of Ravenshadow, three unlikely heroes found themselves united by fate. Amelia, a timid librarian; Thomas, a bumbling blacksmith; and Eleanor, an introverted herbalist, all shared a common goal - to unravel the mystery of the ancient artifact that lay hidden in the ominous forest surrounding their village. As the darkness crept closer, the trio gathered at Amelia's home, where they began to discuss their strategy. Amelia: "We must be cautious, my friends. The forest is said to be filled with creatures of the night, and an ancient curse lies at its heart." Thomas, trying to lighten the mood: "Well, we may be unlikely heroes, but together, there's nothing we can't handle!" Eleanor: "You're right, Thomas. We must rely on our unique skills and our unbreakable bond. I believe in us." Together, they ventured into the dark forest, armed with Amelia's knowledge of ancient lore, Thomas's strength forged by his hammer, and Eleanor's healing herbs. As they fought side by side against the creatures of darkness, their bond grew stronger, proving that even unlikely heroes could triumph over evil. In the heart of the forest, they discovered the artifact - an ancient amulet glowing with a malevolent energy. With courage and teamwork, they shattered the curse, freeing the village from the darkness that had plagued it for centuries. Their names echoed through Ravenshadow as heroes, and their unbreakable bond remained, a testament to the power of unity and friendship in the face of adversity. The moon cast a pale light over the dark village as Amelia, Thomas, and Eleanor stood at the edge of the dense forest. They knew that within the trees lay an ancient artifact responsible for the curse plaguing their town. Their eyes met, unspoken understanding passing between them. Amelia, the courageous blacksmith, spoke first, "We must find that artifact and end this darkness." Thomas, a wise old herbalist, nodded in agreement. Eleanor, a timid but resourceful seamstress, bit her lip as she considered their plan. "We'll venture into the forest, but we must be cautious," she whispered. Together, they entered the dark woods, their torches flickering like ghosts in the night. Amelia's strong arms held back the encroaching darkness as Thomas searched for clues in the underbrush. Eleanor, her heart pounding, sewed a protective charm from leaves and twigs to keep them safe. As they delved deeper into the forest, their bond grew stronger. Amelia's laughter echoed through the trees as Thomas regaled them with stories of ancient heroes. Eleanor shared her dreams of a world free from the curse, where the villagers could live in peace. Finally, they found the artifact – an eerie, pulsating crystal hidden within a twisted tree root. United, they faced the darkness and shattered it with their newfound strength, forging an unbreakable bond that would last a lifetime. In the end, Amelia, Thomas, and Eleanor returned to their village as heroes, their friendship forged in fire, earth, and shadow. The curse lifted, and their village thrived once more, illuminated by the light of their unbreakable bond. Amelia: "I never thought I'd find such allies in this village." Thomas: "Nor I, but look at us now. We're more than just heroes – we're family." Eleanor: "And that's something no curse can ever take away from us." ``` Eventually, they discovered the artifact, its ancient power pulsating through it. With newfound courage, they faced the darkness and lifted the curse, freeing the village from its torment. As the moon set and the sun rose over the horizon, Amelia, Thomas, and Eleanor stood victorious, their unbreakable bond forged in the fires of adversity, a testament to the strength of human connection. Finally, they discovered the ancient artifact hidden beneath a gnarled tree. Amelia reached out and touched it, feeling a sudden surge of energy. The curse lifted, and the darkness that had plagued the village for centuries vanished. As they stood triumphant, hand in hand, they knew their bond was unbreakable. Together, they had faced the darkness and emerged victorious. ``` With the curse lifted, Amelia, Thomas, and Eleanor returned to the village as heroes. Their journey through the dark forest had forged an unbreakable bond that would last a lifetime, proving that even in the face of darkness, true friendship could conquer all. Amelia, Thomas, and Eleanor sat around the fire, discussing their strategy to face the darkness lurking in the forest and find the ancient artifact responsible for the curse. "We must be careful," Amelia warned. "The forest is full of dangers." "But we're stronger together," Thomas reassured her. "I believe in us," Eleanor added, her voice filled with conviction. With determination in their eyes, they ventured into the dark forest, each step bringing them closer to their goal. The woods seemed to close in around them as they journeyed deeper. Despite the darkness that surrounded them, they felt a growing sense of unity and strength. Their unbreakable bond was being forged through adversity. As they pressed on, Amelia noticed a faint glow up ahead. "There must be something in there," she whispered to Thomas. They cautiously approached the source of the light, finding an ancient artifact that seemed to radiate an eerie energy. "This is it," Eleanor exclaimed, her voice trembling with anticipation. Together, they faced the darkness lurking within the forest and found a way to lift the curse that plagued their village. Their unbreakable bond was forged in the crucible of adversity, and it would last a lifetime. And so, Amelia, Thomas, and Eleanor emerged from the dark woods as heroes, forever changed by their journey and the power of their friendship. Amelia, Thomas, and Eleanor stood nervously in front of the dark forest that surrounded their small village. They were unlikely heroes, but they knew that something evil lurked within the woods, casting a curse upon their homes. The villagers had once been united, but as time passed, they grew distant, forgetting the power of friendship and loyalty. As Amelia, Thomas, and Eleanor approached the forest's edge, they could feel the air grow colder and the shadows longer. They knew they had to face their fears and find the ancient artifact responsible for the curse, or their village would be lost forever. With determination in their eyes, they agreed to venture into the darkness together. Deep within the forest, they encountered terrifying creatures and eerie whispers that sought to drive them apart. But as they fought side by side, Amelia, Thomas, and Eleanor's unbreakable bond grew stronger. They discussed their strategy, sharing ideas and lending support to one another. "We can't let fear divide us," Amelia whispered as they huddled together in the darkness. "We need to face this evil together." "Yes," Thomas agreed. "Our friendship is our greatest weapon against the darkness." Finally, they discovered the ancient artifact hidden within a crumbling shrine. United, they faced the darkness that emerged from the artifact and lifted the curse. As the shadows receded and the village was saved, Amelia, Thomas, and Eleanor knew their bond would last a lifetime. They had proven that even in the face of evil, friendship and loyalty could triumph. In the small village of Willow's End, Amelia, Thomas, and Eleanor stood nervously in front of the dark forest that surrounded their homes. Whispers filled the air as they heard tales of an ancient curse cast upon the village. The three unlikely heroes decided to venture into the darkness together, determined to save their homes from evil. As they entered the forest, a chill ran down their spines. They could hear eerie whispers and see terrifying creatures lurking in the shadows, attempting to drive them apart. But Amelia, Thomas, and Eleanor fought side by side, their unbreakable bond growing stronger with each step. After days of journeying through the dark forest, they discovered an ancient artifact hidden within a crumbling shrine. As they touched the artifact, a darkness began to emerge from it, threatening to consume their village. Together, the heroes faced the darkness and lifted the curse, saving their homes. As they returned to Willow's End, Amelia, Thomas, and Eleanor knew that their bond would last a lifetime. In the face of evil, friendship and loyalty had triumphed. The villagers celebrated their heroes, grateful for their courage and determination. In the dimly lit village, Amelia, Thomas, and Eleanor stood nervously at the entrance of the forest. The eerie whispers that haunted their dreams seemed to be coming from within, but they knew they had to venture in. ``` Amelia: "I don't like this, Thomas. Why do you think our friends chose us as their protectors?" Thomas: "Perhaps because we have a strength inside us that others don't see." Eleanor: "What if we can't save them?" ``` The three friends pressed forward, the darkness swallowing them whole. As they ventured deeper into the forest, they encountered terrifying creatures and felt their bond growing stronger with each challenge they faced together. ``` Thomas: "Stay close, Amelia! We can't let fear consume us." Amelia: "Don't worry, Thomas. I won't leave you behind." Eleanor: "We're in this together, no matter what." ``` They discovered a crumbling shrine hidden within the forest, and inside lay an ancient artifact that emitted a sinister energy. As they touched it, the darkness within the village began to emerge, threatening to consume all in its path. The friends had to face their own fears and confront the evil head-on. ``` Amelia: "Eleanor, I'm scared, but we can't let this win." Eleanor: "We're stronger together. We'll fight it." Thomas: "Let's end this!" ``` Together, Amelia, Thomas, and Eleanor fought the darkness, their unbreakable bond growing even stronger with each blow they exchanged. Finally, they lifted the curse and saved the village from the clutches of evil. Their friendship, forged in the fires of adversity, was now an unbreakable force that would last a lifetime. In the heart of a dark and mysterious village, three unlikely heroes - Amelia, Thomas, and Eleanor - find themselves drawn together by fate. Their journey begins when they hear eerie whispers echoing through the streets, urging them to venture into the unknown. Thomas, a quiet and thoughtful man, turns to Amelia, a fierce warrior with a heart of gold, and asks, "What do you make of this? Can we trust the whispers?" Amelia replies, her voice filled with determination, "We must face whatever lies ahead. Together." Eleanor, a young woman with a gift for healing, chimes in, "Let us journey into the darkness, and prove that our bond is unbreakable." As they venture deeper into the village's darkest corners, they encounter terrifying creatures and face challenges that test their resolve. Amidst the chaos, Thomas finds himself defending Eleanor from a vicious creature. He cries out, "Eleanor! Watch out!" Eleanor responds swiftly, "I've got this, Thomas." Despite the dangers they face, their bond grows stronger with each passing moment. Finally, they discover an ancient artifact hidden within a crumbling shrine. As they touch the artifact, a darkness begins to emerge, threatening to consume them all. Amelia takes charge, her voice echoing with resolve, "We must face this together." Thomas, Thomas agrees, his voice steady and strong, "Our friendship will see us through." Eleanor nods in agreement, her eyes filled with determination, "Together, we can lift the curse." With their unbreakable bond guiding them, Amelia, Thomas, and Eleanor face the darkness emerging from the artifact. They fight side by side, their friendship proving stronger than any evil force. As the darkness dissipates, they know that their bond will last a lifetime. The curse is lifted, and the village is saved. Their journey has shown them that even in the face of evil, friendship and loyalty can triumph. Amelia, Thomas, and Eleanor, three unlikely heroes, found themselves in a dark village plagued by evil. As they ventured into the darkness together, they faced terrifying creatures and eerie whispers that sought to drive them apart. But their unbreakable bond only grew stronger as they fought side by side. In a crumbling shrine, they discovered an ancient artifact and faced the darkness emerging from it. With courage and loyalty, they lifted the curse and saved the village. Their friendship, forged in fire, would last a lifetime. In the village of Elderwood, where shadows seemed to whisper and darkness clung to the cobblestones, three unlikely heroes found themselves drawn together. Amelia, a timid librarian, Thomas, a brash blacksmith's apprentice, and Eleanor, a kind-hearted herbalist, had never expected to be thrust into an adventure. But when strange happenings began plaguing the village, they knew they had no choice but to face the darkness together. As they ventured into the heart of the forest, each step echoed through the silence, and the air grew colder. Amelia clutched her lantern tightly, while Thomas' hammer glinted menacingly in his grip. Eleanor, ever-vigilant, sniffed the air for any sign of trouble. "Do you think it's near?" Thomas whispered, his voice trembling. "I don't know," Amelia replied, her voice barely audible. "But we must keep going. For the village." They pressed on, until they found themselves at the entrance of a crumbling shrine. Inside, they discovered an ancient artifact, its surface etched with symbols that seemed to pulse with malevolent energy. Eleanor hesitated, her eyes wide with fear, but Thomas plunged forward. "We have to destroy it!" he cried, his voice echoing through the darkness. "It's the source of this curse!" As Amelia and Eleanor helped him lift the artifact, they felt a chilling presence encroach upon them. But together, they faced the evil emerging from it, their bond strengthened by their shared courage. They fought back the darkness, and in that moment, their friendship was forged in fire. With the curse lifted, Elderwood was saved. The villagers hailed Amelia, Thomas, and Eleanor as heroes, but it was clear to all that their unbreakable bond had been formed in the face of evil. Their friendship would last a lifetime, a testament to the power of unity in the face of darkness. Elderwood village was shrouded in darkness, its once-proud buildings now crumbling and covered in vines. The eerie whispers of the night wind carried tales of a curse that had befallen the townsfolk. Despite their fear, three unlikely heroes emerged: Amelia, a skilled blacksmith; Thomas, a timid librarian; and Eleanor, a courageous healer. They decided to venture into the darkness together, hoping to save their village from the evil that plagued it. As they ventured deeper into the village, the heroes encountered terrifying creatures that lurked in the shadows. Amelia's strength and skill with a hammer proved invaluable as she fought off the monstrous beings. Thomas, using his knowledge of ancient texts, guided them through the labyrinthine streets, while Eleanor healed their wounds and provided them with encouragement. "We must be brave," Amelia said firmly, her voice echoing in the empty village. "This curse must be lifted." Thomas nodded, his voice trembling slightly. "I'll find a way to break it," he promised. In the heart of Elderwood, they discovered a crumbling shrine, its walls covered in mysterious symbols. Within its depths lay an ancient artifact, pulsing with dark energy. Amelia, Thomas, and Eleanor knew that they must confront the evil within if they hoped to save their village. "We've come too far to turn back now," Eleanor said resolutely. "Together, we can face anything." And so, the three heroes faced the darkness emerging from the artifact, their friendship and determination forging a bond that could not be broken. As they lifted the curse, the village was saved, and their bond, forged in fire, would last a lifetime. In the heart of Elderwood village, three unlikely heroes found themselves drawn together by an inexplicable force. Amelia, a timid librarian; Thomas, a brash blacksmith's apprentice; and Eleanor, a kind-hearted herbalist. They shared a common goal: to uncover the source of the village's recent terror. As they ventured into the darkness, their conversations revealed more about each of them. Amelia confided that she had always been fascinated by the stories of Elderwood's past, while Thomas admitted to seeking adventure outside his mundane life at the forge. Eleanor, on the other hand, spoke of her desire to help those in need, which led her to study healing herbs and remedies. The trio soon encountered a series of terrifying creatures, their forms twisted by dark magic. The heroes fought side by side, relying on their unique skills and newfound camaraderie to overcome each challenge. As they delved deeper into the village's history, eerie whispers grew louder, and it became clear that an ancient artifact hidden within a crumbling shrine lay at the heart of the curse. Faced with the darkness emerging from the artifact, Amelia, Thomas, and Eleanor joined forces to banish the evil once and for all. As they lifted the curse, the village was saved, and their friendship forged in fire lasted a lifetime. In the dark and mysterious village of Elderwood, Amelia, a timid librarian, found herself seeking solace in the town's dusty archive. One stormy night, she overheard whispered conversations about an ancient artifact buried deep within the forest. Fearing for her life, she turned to Thomas, a brash blacksmith's apprentice known for his brawling skills, and Eleanor, a kind-hearted herbalist with knowledge of the forest's secrets. Thomas: "We should go after it! It could be our ticket out of this village!" Eleanor: "But it's said that the artifact is guarded by terrifying creatures and cursed spirits." Amelia: "I'll go with you, both of you. Together, we can face whatever awaits us." Together, they ventured into the forest, their bond growing stronger with each step. They encountered sinister beings that haunted the woods, but their combined courage and skill allowed them to push through. As they neared the artifact's resting place, they discovered a crumbling shrine, its walls adorned with symbols of darkness and despair. Thomas: "We need to be careful. We don't know what we'll find in there." Eleanor: "Let's stick together and support each other. We can do this." Amelia: "Yes, we can!" With determination in their hearts, they entered the shrine and found themselves face to face with the embodiment of evil itself. But united as unlikely heroes, they fought the darkness and emerged victorious. The curse was lifted, and Elderwood returned to peace. Their friendship, forged by fire and fear, would last a lifetime. The village of Elderwood was shrouded in darkness, and its people lived in fear. Amelia, a timid librarian with a passion for ancient texts, had heard tales of the village's cursed history. She longed to uncover its secrets, but her fear held her back. One day, while browsing through an old book, she stumbled upon a prophecy that spoke of three unlikely heroes who would save Elderwood from darkness. Intrigued, Amelia sought out Thomas, a brash blacksmith's apprentice with a talent for forging weapons. She knew that the village needed someone to create the tools required for their mission. Together, they found Eleanor, a kind-hearted herbalist who could concoct potions to aid them in their journey. The trio formed an uneasy alliance, driven by their shared desire to save Elderwood. As they explored the village's dark corners, they encountered terrifying creatures and eerie whispers that threatened to break their resolve. However, as they faced these challenges together, their bond grew stronger. In a crumbling shrine at the edge of the village, they discovered an ancient artifact that held the key to the curse. Amelia's knowledge of history, Thomas's skills in forging weapons, and Eleanor's expertise in herbalism allowed them to confront the darkness emerging from the artifact. With courage and determination, they lifted the curse, saving the village and forming a friendship that would last a lifetime. The people of Elderwood hailed their unlikely heroes, and the once-dark village was transformed into a beacon of hope. In the dark, cobblestone streets of Elderwood village, Amelia, Thomas, and Eleanor stood side by side. The moonlight cast eerie shadows as they whispered their fears about the recent terrifying events plaguing the village. "I've heard whispers," Amelia began nervously, "in the wind. They tell me of an evil lurking in the forest." Thomas scoffed, "There's no such thing as magic. It's just our imagination playing tricks on us." Eleanor, however, was more open-minded. "I don't believe that. There must be a reason why people are disappearing without a trace." The trio decided to investigate the source of these whispers. They ventured into the dense forest surrounding Elderwood village, their hearts pounding in their chests. The trees seemed to close in on them as they walked deeper into the woods. Suddenly, an eerie scream echoed through the night. "Help! Please help me!" cried a distant voice. Amelia, Thomas, and Eleanor exchanged frightened glances but pressed on. They soon came across a crumbling shrine hidden among the trees. A faint glow emanated from within, revealing a mysterious artifact at its center. "I'm pretty sure this is where the whispers are coming from," Thomas muttered. Eleanor hesitated, "We need to be careful. This could be dangerous." Together, they cautiously approached the artifact. As Amelia touched it, a dark energy surged forth and enveloped them all. The village was suddenly plunged into darkness. "What have we done?" Amelia cried out in terror. In that moment, the bonds of friendship between the unlikely heroes strengthened. They knew they had to face their fears together and save the village from the curse that now threatened it. Working as a team, they discovered a way to banish the darkness and restore peace to Elderwood village. Their friendship, forged in fire and fear, was unbreakable. Amelia, Thomas, and Eleanor stood nervously in front of the ancient shrine, the eerie whispers growing louder with each step. The trio knew they had to uncover the source of these chilling sounds and save Elderwood village from an unknown evil. Thomas leaned towards Amelia and whispered, "Eleanor's herbal concoctions have given us some protection, but we still need to be cautious." Amelia nodded and whispered back, "Let's stick together and keep our wits about us." As they approached the shrine, they found a mysterious artifact, buried beneath the crumbling stones. Eleanor traced her fingers over the ornate symbols etched into it. She murmured, "I've never seen anything like this before." Thomas picked it up carefully and said, "Let's take it back to the village. Maybe one of our elders can decipher its meaning." Back in the village, they shared their discovery with the townsfolk, who gathered around curiously. The village elder examined the artifact and his face grew pale. "This is dangerous," he warned. "It's a conduit for dark energy, and it's already begun to awaken something sinister." Amelia, Thomas, and Eleanor knew they had to act quickly. They ventured back to the shrine, armed with their newfound knowledge of its ominous purpose. As they approached the artifact, a chilling gust of wind surrounded them. The darkness began to surge, threatening to consume the village in its malevolent embrace. Drawing on their combined skills and courage, Amelia, Thomas, and Eleanor faced the dark energy together. They fought side by side, each playing a crucial role in banishing the curse that had plagued Elderwood for so long. As the darkness receded, they felt their friendship grow stronger than ever before. Together, they had saved their beloved village and forged an unbreakable bond that would last a lifetime. The moon cast a pale glow over Elderwood village as Amelia, a timid librarian, Thomas, a brash blacksmith's apprentice, and Eleanor, a kind-hearted herbalist, huddled together in the town square. Whispers echoed through the darkness, sending shivers down their spines. "What's that sound?" Amelia whispered nervously. "I don't know," Thomas replied with bravado he didn't quite feel. "Let's check it out." They ventured deeper into the village, following the eerie whispers. As they walked, Eleanor pulled a small vial of herbal remedy from her bag. "Just in case," she murmured. Suddenly, they stumbled upon a crumbling shrine on the outskirts of town. A strange, pulsating energy emanated from its depths. Amelia hesitated, but Thomas and Eleanor urged her forward. "We can't leave without knowing what's causing this," Thomas said. Inside the shrine, they discovered a mysterious artifact glowing ominously. As they touched it, the whispers grew louder and more sinister. The air thickened with darkness, and the friends realized they had unleashed something evil upon the village. "We have to find a way to stop this!" Eleanor exclaimed, her voice trembling. Together, they searched for a solution, their fear fueling their determination. Amelia found an ancient text in the library that hinted at a ritual to banish the curse. They returned to the shrine, hearts pounding, and performed the ritual as best they could. A blinding flash of light filled the chamber, and the darkness retreated. The friends looked at each other, relief washing over them. "We did it," Amelia breathed. "We saved the village." Their bond, forged in fire, had grown stronger through their terrifying adventure. As they walked back to the town square, they knew they would face whatever challenges came their way together. Amelia, a timid librarian, had just moved to Elderwood village, seeking solace from her past. Her quiet life was soon disturbed by the whispers that echoed through the night, chilling everyone in the village. Thomas, a brash blacksmith's apprentice, and Eleanor, a kind-hearted herbalist, joined Amelia on her quest to uncover the source of the terror. As they delved deeper into the village's secrets, they encountered terrifying creatures lurking in the shadows. "What are those monsters?" Thomas asked, his voice trembling with fear. Eleanor soothed him, "They're just a part of the curse that has befallen our village." Determined to lift the curse and restore peace, Amelia, Thomas, and Eleanor ventured into the darkest corners of the forest. They discovered an ancient artifact hidden within a crumbling shrine. "What do you make of this?" Amelia questioned, her voice wavering with trepidation. "It's the source of our problems," Thomas declared, his bravado returning. "We must destroy it!" Together, they faced the dark energy emanating from the artifact. With Eleanor's knowledge of herbs and Amelia's wisdom, they concocted a potion that weakened the curse. As the darkness began to recede, the trio felt their bond growing stronger. "We did it!" Eleanor exclaimed, her eyes shining with joy. "Our friendship has saved this village." In the end, Amelia, Thomas, and Eleanor had not only banished the curse but also forged a friendship that would last a lifetime. As they returned to their normal lives in Elderwood village, they knew they were no longer alone, united by their shared adventure and unbreakable bond.

East Liverpool Carnegie Public Library
219 E. 4th St.
East Liverpool, OH
The Carnegie Public Library in East Liverpool, Ohio is a public library located at 219 East Fourth Street. The construction of the library, which opened in 1902, was funded by industrialist and philanthropist Andrew Carnegie, whose uncle lived in East Liverpool, and who spent a large part of his childhood in East Liverpool. Along with the Steubenville, Ohio, library, it was the first library in Ohio funded by Carnegie. In 1899 T.Y. Travis and M.E. Miskall contacted Andrew Carnegie asking him for a donation of a library for East Liverpool. Carnegie pledged $50,000 for the building of the library on the stipulation that the city would provide land and $3,000 a year for maintenance. In August 1899 the Bradshaw Farm property was purchased by a group of citizens of East Liverpool and held in trust until the city could purchase it. Construction of the library began in 1900. It was built with Roman mottled buff-brown brick trimmed with white tile. The lobby is of ceramic mosaic, the wainscoting of Italian marble and the solid brass hardware. Charles Henry Owsley, a British architect who had immigrated to Youngstown, Ohio, designed the building.
As the library neared completion donations of good, worthwhile books were requested. The first librarian hired to run the library was Gertrude A. Baker of Mt. Vernon, Ohio. On May 8, 1902, the library was dedicated and officially opened to the public. At this time the 2,505 volumes from the other city library were transferred to the Carnegie Library. A year after the opening, the librarian reported that there were 5,992 volumes and 2,081 members. In the first year, according to the librarian, the library was so popular with patrons that it loaned more books each month than were actually in the library. In 1907 the local historical society established a museum in the West Room of the second floor and then later expanded to include pottery displays in the East Room displaying works from over 50 local potteries. The museum and pottery displays remained in the library until the Museum of Ceramics was opened in the 1970s. The upper East Room of the library was used by the Red Cross for project work such as rolling bandages during World War I. Until 1931, the library experienced financial difficulties. In that year, however, the library became eligible for county funds. Since then the library has operated through state and county funds.
The library possessed 25,000 volumes by 1940, but none were catalogued. The library took part in the Ohio Victory Book Campaign during World War II. The goal of the campaign was to provide good reading material to the servicemen. In six weeks more than 3,000 books were collected. In 1946 a summer reading program for children was initiated. Kenneth Emerick was hired in 1950 to perform the cataloguing duties when the library holdings had reached 36,000 volumes. He worked until 1955 when the work was taken over by Beatrice Davidson. In 1956 the library received a donation of 250 microfilms of the local newspaper dating back to 1885. The library collection was increasing at a rate of approximately 4,000 volumes per year. By the mid-1960s there were 75,000 volumes, all catalogued. A number of renovation projects took place during the 1950s and early 1960s. Over 12 years the cost was approximately $75,000. As part of the renovations, the custodian's home was removed and replaced by a Trustee Meeting Room (the Board Room), and a historical display area. A stack room was created in an excavated portion of the basement. New shelving was installed for the growing collection and furniture for the reading room was purchased. A new circulation desk and circulation system were also installed. In 1961 the rear entrance was remodeled. The administrative offices were moved to the basement replacing the area previously occupied by the historical displays. A teen area was created on the main floor where the offices had been.
By 1975, the library held 120,000 volumes. It was listed the National Register of Historic Places on March 11, 1980. The library also underwent renovations in the 1990s. In order to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act an elevator and handicap accessibility were installed. Shelving was replaced and the nonfiction and Reference collections were moved to vacant rooms on the second floor. All the furniture from the renovations of the 1950s was replaced. Oak tables were refinished and new lighting was installed throughout the library. Additionally, a new circulation desk and computerized circulation and catalogue system were installed. Approximately $1,300,000 were spent over a three-year span for renovations.
