The Kyiv Independent has begun a series on Ukrainian History called “Ukraine’s True History”. Their page about it gives this description.
This material is funded by the Institute for War and Peace Reporting within the program “Ukraine Forward: Amplifying Analysis.” The program is financed by the MATRA Programme of the Embassy of the Netherlands in Ukraine.
Episode 1 (above) is an overview which tackles misconceptions often spread by Kremlin propagandists and tankies.
Related to Ukrainian history, but not produced by the Kyiv Independent, the journal Foreign Affairs did an extended audio interview with historian Timothy Snyder. Prof. Snyder has been studying and writing about Ukraine for years. He has also written the #1 New York Times bestseller On Tyranny about the threat to democracy in the US.

If you’re looking for the anti-Tucker, at least regarding Ukraine, it’s Timothy Snyder. He could wipe the floor with Tucker Carlson – wherever the latter is hanging out these days.

great news, i've figured out how i made high quality gif animated graph again! so here's the latest update using tweeted figures from the kyiv independent who had cited from ukraine's armed forces.
this is now updated to feb 25, 2023.
strangely enough, i totally cannot remember how i did it previously until i nearly recreated the graph all over again. well, i did not recreate the graph from scratch, but i did recreate the animated graph after updating the figures.
anyway, rather than taking time to add the critical milestones, i'm going to do that with another rare fancy software called timeline 3d by beedocs.
no matter how truthful this is, i give ukraine's armed forces the benefit of the doubt that they would not fabricate the figures because ukrainians give me the impression that they care and deeply believe in transparency and would not tolerate their own govt or military to doctor the figures to just look pretty or glorify political agenda.
true strong democracy needs strong roots even in times of inconvenient truth. and so, if i were armed forces of ukraine, i might even give more conservative figures to not raise public expectations. if that is the case, then i might even speculate that perhaps 300k russians might have died already instead of the alleged 140k.
you might think that's either wishful thinking or absurdly optimistic, but, if some very serious military engagement or recon work could add to that idea, then staying in a stalemate could in fact be a major blunder to allow putin and russia to rebuild or reinforce their skeleton frontline forces.

The Kyiv Independent celebrated Borshch Day, which annually falls on the second Saturday in September.
Borshch is a staple of Ukrainian cuisine and has been for at least 1,200 years. It was named by UNESCO as part of Ukraine's Intangible Cultural Heritage in Need of Urgent Safeguarding in July 2022.
If you want to support their journalism, you can get some of the Borshch themed gear seen above here!

The 2nd episode of the True History of Ukraine from Kyiv Independent is out now. This episode we hit up 10 various myths, such as the Crimea and who really 'owns' it all the way to the Holodomor and what actually caused it (surprise it wasn't Ukraine's fault).
And because it is very important to me, a graph from another myth of Ukraine being full of Nazis. Shown are polling results for the query 'Adults who say they would not be willing to accept Jews as citizens of their country'. Ukraine sits at a very low 5%, with many other areas hitting double digits including Russia at 14%. Even Poland sadly sits at 18%. Ukraine also has no fascist or far right-wingers in power.
