i can see 1980/1981 (around the time daniel turns 27/28) as being the catalyst for his relationship with armand starting to splinter, his resentment over armand withholding the gift coming to a head, the occasional running off and wandering starting before it starts ramping up in frequency. because it's when it really hits him that's where armand is frozen — 27 forever — and daniel's past that now. he's always been younger than armand both physically and mentally but now daniel's the one who's older physically. suddenly it's way more real that one day he'll be turning grey and armand won't and it fucks with him badly

I would like the let you know, Joey in a dress is 100% related to the bodyguard AU xD and the freakout the first time he is “fired,” correct, total panic. Then he’s kinda annoyed. Then he’s just rolling his eyes- all correct. Buddy is also supposed to stand guard at Kaiba’s office door all day. Nah he’s on expensive ass leather couch in his office on insta and tiktok. And his uniform is slowly going from what the security wears in the show to tie is loosened, then no tie, then unbuttoned buttons, then he shows up with a t shirt under his jacket and Kaiba lectures him about looking professional xD

I think one of my biggest barriers when it comes to actually writing my fic ideas down is that I feel like they should be longfics most of the time, probably because I love reading longfics best lol. But I never have enough actual content in my brain for a novel length fic so it ends up feeling futile and I give up immediately.

Really I need to get better at conceiving of ideas as 15-30k stories rather than failed longfics. Like, I can do that if it starts out as a one shot idea but then gets expanded in the writing process, but I've never tried to reframe it to myself as a medium length fic when it starts out as a novel length idea, it just gets abandoned.

don't mind me i'm just casually thinking about soulmates-but-not-actually-soulmates au, where you both fall for each other after having not found your respective soulmates for a long period of time and decide that if fate won't do anything, then you will both simply defy fate and learn to love each other.

and you do !! with the more time you spend with one another, navigating that which makes up the entirety of the other, you both start to grow accustomed — attuned, even — to the each other's habits. and slowly, eventually, you begin to think that perhaps fate didn't give you your soulmate, for they are the one in front of you, holding you so close it wouldn't come as a surprise if you meld into one.

if so, then why does your soulmate, whom you believed was nothing but a hoax up until now, decide to show up now of all times? where have they been during the years you spent searching for them? why are they staring at you as if you hung the moon and stars for them as they repeat your name in a breathy, starstruck manner, holding your hands in a shaky grip with the trembles in their voice equally as unstable?

and why... why did fate have to be so cruel to you, for the moment your eyes dart away in avoidance of theirs you find the world goes silent when you see your lover, whom you believed was the one meant to defy destiny with you, standing off to the side and watching your interaction with an unreadable countenance.

Some of these guys have been doing this for decades! There's tons of heroes that have gone to pretty extreme lengths to be Completely Imperceptible in civilian life.

Don't you think it's scarier, after all is said and done, to sit there and think I didn't notice a thing? I wouldn't have ever realised? I would never have known? To know that someone you were familiar with - close with, even! - had this whole other personality and skillset and powers and experiences and life just behind the curtain, and they hid it so completely you didn't even see it was there.

'I always knew there was something off' what if you didn't. How world shaking would it be to be so utterly blindsided? To know that this person had somehow learned to so deceptive?
