Across the 17,000 notes I recieved on the other post, I received probably at least a thousand "totally harmless jokes", a large amount of which were actually insulting (both of the earlier statements were direct quotes), from people I don't know. Maybe that's just how they joke with their friends, but I'm not their friend and can't read it that way, and after receiving a thousand such "harmless jokes", I never want to see another one again.

At this point, if I block you for it it won't be because you made a bad joke about a dumb "game". It'll be because I'm not a public service provider, and I'm entitled to curate my online experience too, and at best you have decided to ignore my explicitly stated boundaries, and at worst you are disregarding the (again, hundreds) of people who have told me that being released from the game has helped with their anxiety and OCD, *and* overstepped my explicitly stated boundaries.

Also, no, I'm 26, but you're about right for the age that The Game stops being funny. Again, grow up.

listen there really was just something about how in the book, snow’s 3-page descent from hesitant lover boy to deluded mfer happens entirely in his mind. lucy gray gives him no indication whatsoever that she suspects him, that she’s going to leave or betray him. he’s just sitting quietly in the cabin waiting for her to return when that seed of calculated suspicion, which he has needed to survive the capitol, takes a hold of him and chokes the life out of any goodness left inside him. it really drives home your terror as a reader that “oh my god did he kill her? did she escape? what happened to her? why would he even think that?” in a way that when the movie had to adjust for visualization it lost some of that holy shit this guy has lost it emphasis.

i screwed up by sending you that ask. i'm still unpacking all these thoughts but basically it just felt like another occasion to laugh at us. even the good folks of tumblr think triggering people with ocd is fucking hilarious as long as there's some acceptable pretext. i can't get anyone to take an interest in most policy issues but they love "cringe material" like people getting up in arms about the game. i'd love it if people could be accomodated in situations like this instead of getting tormented but i just don't think we'll be there any time soon. but none of that is your fault and you didn't deserve all that shit from me. i'm sorry.

I won't insult you by claiming to fully understand your experience, but I do understand the difficulties in getting people to engage with policy issues (or really, anything beyond what's memetic), albeit on different battlegrounds. I can also understand your frustration at seeing my post get engagement and praise for something that ultimately doesn't make much of a difference. What I'm getting at is I get the urge to lash out, and you're forgiven for that.

Your previous ask did raise some legitimately good points, and I hope I addressed those to your satisfaction. My goal was never to have a laugh at your (communal) expense, I was aiming to say that I wouldn't be a party to that same sort of behaviour, if that makes sense? I agree that we're not likely to be at a place of full tolerance any time soon (people are assholes), but I wanted to do my small part to help ensure that we move in that direction.

For what it's worth, I truly would love to improve my advocacy, so if you have any suggestions I would happily accept them, or if you want to message me I'd be happy to have a conversation about it. Or if you'd prefer to go our separate ways that's fine too, it's not your responsibility to educate every random shmuck who asks.

My hot and spicy take is there's no such thing as an inherently "beginner-friendly" TTRPG. Beginners who are naturally improv-minded will take to games that would leave those who are tactically-minded utterly stumped. And the tactitians love to learn the ropes from games so complex they'd make those who are natural storytellers dizzy. And even that's creating artificial and arbitrary distinctions between different types of player.

Every beginner has a different ideal starting game, but to be honest it doesn't matter. You don't need the "beginner friendly" game, you need something that catches your imagination enough that it'll push you to play it and learn it and fall in love with the hobby.

Which titles on a list of recommendations catch your eye? Go check their descriptions - which ones fire your imagination? Which are you bringing to your friends, saying "we have GOT to try this game it looks cool/weird/intense/fun!"

Those are the games I'd recommend for your beginnings.

I'm not including this person's username because they possibly weren't aware of the context here, but from now on anyone who adds comments or tags to my posts about the game with comments like this is getting blocked. They're not funny, and even if they were I've seen every one of them a hundred times already on the other post with 17,000 notes. Grow up. The post isn't for you, it's for the hundreds of people who have said it's helped them to escape the dumbest "game" ever conceived.

Although I don't ship JimCurly I do understand why people do: it's because of how fucked up it is. Curly is an enabler who believes there's good in Jimmy and keeps trying to push him in the right direction. He keeps putting his hand out for him, despite him never improving as a person. Curly felt like it was his responsibility to help Jimmy and chose to be blind to his behavior.

Jimmy leeches off Curly, despising and envying him while also needing him to survive. He wants to ruin Curly's life but still needs him to stay around in some form. Jimmy has become so dependent on Curly that being around him brings him a twisted form of comfort despite his hatred for him.

Jimmy and Curly have an unhealthy but interesting relationship, and I can understand why people would want to romantically explore it.

Man it’s crazy how there’s always a plausible reason for why the terms Trans women use to identify each other and talk about their particular issues are either evil or actually belong to everyone. CAGAB terminology is misgendering and Transfem belongs to everyone and “Tranny” can be reclaimed by everyone who’s trans and “Transfem” can be used by anyone who feels it describes them and so for that matter, can “trans woman” (and saying otherwise is intersexist), TMA/TME is binaristic/misgendering/whatever.

Like I’m a very relaxed person in general and I have zero interest in policing lgbt slur reclamation or individual identities or anything but like is it not glaringly obvious who is being systemically deprived of the language to discuss their particular circumstances here
