Migrants are the MAGA GOP's scapegoats.
The reality is that mass deportations will not only destroy lives and break apart families, but they will probably tank the economy, especially in the agriculture, food production and construction industries.
The billions of dollars spent on this project will also be money taken away from American citizens for their needs.
But that hasn't stopped Trump from using migrants as scapegoats, which is why he had to lie about their crime rate (which is in fact lower than the crime rate for American citizens) and tell ridiculous horror stories of Haitians eating pets.
But in the end, what really seems to attract Trump and the MAGA GOP to the idea of mass deportations is the cruelty. Never forget:

President-elect Donald Trump drew cheers from the crowd at AmericaFest in downtown Phoenix on Sunday when he spoke about a border crackdown, including a "historic slate of executive orders" that will surpass the scope of mass deportation efforts in the 1950s.
He pledged to seal the border and remove criminal elements who he says are smuggling drugs, fostering gang violence and endangering communities across the country.
"We will stop illegal immigration once and for all," Trump told the enthusiastic standing-room-only crowd gathered at the Phoenix Convention Center on Sunday morning. "We will not be occupied. We will not be overrun."
Trump delivered his first rally-style speech since his election victory, closing the conservative AmericaFest conference 2024 in downtown Phoenix with a speech that lasted slightly more than an hour.

Trump is campaigning on defunding day care.
This will both help cut spending on helping anyone who isn't rich, and force more mothers to stay home, reinforcing patriarchal values and destroying womens' ability to have education or careers along with a family. Killing two rights with one stone, for these fuckers.
Of course, many mothers work not by choice but because they have to- because they're single mothers (which there will be a lot more of with Republican abortion bans) or because two pay checks isn't enough (which there will be a lot more of with Republicans gutting Medicare, Medicaid, the Affordable Care Act, probably abolishing minimum wage if they can, hiking prices with tariffs/trade wars, etc). So, I guess those mothers and their children would just... literally die.
The party of family values and pro-life, everyone!
But, just stop and think about this. This isn't something they're going to do that they're hiding because they know its unpopular. They are openly saying that they're going to do this.
Their entire campaign is: "We're going to hurt you, horribly. But we'll hurt other people more first, so vote for us!" As Adam Serwer famously wrote of MAGA, "The Cruelty Is the Point".
It is a cynical appeal to spite over all other emotions and basic self-preservation.
Will it work?

🗣️This is an illegitimate and deeply corrupt Supreme Court. Vote every Republican & conservative politician out of office in 2024
Tumblr media Tumblr media
WASHINGTON (AP) — One woman miscarried in the lobby restroom of a Texas emergency room as front desk staff refused to check her in. Another woman learned that her fetus had no heartbeat at a Florida hospital, the day after a security guard turned her away from the facility. And in North Carolina, a woman gave birth in a car after an emergency room couldn't offer an ultrasound. The baby later died.
Complaints that pregnant women were turned away from U.S. emergency rooms spiked in 2022 after the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, federal documents obtained by The Associated Press reveal.
The cases raise alarms about the state of emergency pregnancy care in the U.S., especially in states that enacted strict abortion laws and sparked confusion around the treatment doctors can provide.
“It is shocking, it’s absolutely shocking,” said Amelia Huntsberger, an OB/GYN in Oregon. “It is appalling that someone would show up to an emergency room and not receive care — this is inconceivable.”
It's happened despite federal mandates that the women be treated.
Federal law requires emergency rooms to treat or stabilize patients who are in active labor and provide a medical transfer to another hospital if they don’t have the staff or resources to treat them. Medical facilities must comply with the law if they accept Medicare funding.
The Supreme Court will hear arguments Wednesday that could weaken those protections. The Biden administration has sued Idaho over its abortion ban, even in medical emergencies, arguing it conflicts with the federal law.
“No woman should be denied the care she needs,” Jennifer Klein, director of the White House Gender Policy Council, said in a statement. “All patients, including women who are experiencing pregnancy-related emergencies, should have access to emergency medical care required under the Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA).”
PREGNANCY CARE AFTER ROE
Pregnant patients have “become radioactive to emergency departments” in states with extreme abortion restrictions, said Sara Rosenbaum, a George Washington University health law and policy professor
“They are so scared of a pregnant patient, that the emergency medicine staff won’t even look. They just want these people gone," Rosenbaum said.
Consider what happened to a woman who was nine months pregnant and having contractions when she arrived at the Falls Community Hospital in Marlin, Texas, in July 2022, a week after the Supreme Court’s ruling on abortion. The doctor on duty refused to see her.

abortion bans in any way - whether they make exceptions or none at all - is the state getting away with raping you. forced birth is quite literally torture. abortion is healthcare & communities with access to safe abortions are healthier for it.

So, Floridians waiting for Milton to lay waste to most of your state, folks still struggling after Helene, the Republican House just said "Fuck all y'all until after the election" to coming back to add funding for the Small Business Administration and FEMA. Good luck with that recovery thing.

Reminder:
If you aren't rich, Republicans want you to die for their profits.
If you are Black or an immigrant, Republicans want you to die for their white supremacy.
If you are a child, Republicans want you to die for their guns.
If you have a uterus, Republicans want you to die for their patriarchy.
If you are queer, Republicans want you to die for existing.
If you are Ukrainian, they want you to die for their Russian money.
If you aren't Republican, Republicans want you to die for opposing them.
If you aren't Christian, Republicans want you to be tortured for eternity.
THEY. WANT. YOU. TO. DIE.

This is so unbelievably sad. Florida Rep. Angie Nixon called for a vote for a ceasefire in Gaza (which failed by 104-2), and when she asked how many more Palestinians would have to die, Republican Michelle Salzman replied, “All of them!”
We are, unfortunately, witnessing the worldwide rise of dehumanizing authoritarianism. A significant number of voters and politicians are actively cheering for genocide. The cruelty is the point, and the hatred is on-brand for Florida.
Here are some helpful reminders as you’re having discussions about Palestine and Gaza:
The Holocaust happened
Antisemitism is real
Islamophobia is real
Jewish ≠ Israel
Hamas ≠ Palestine
Pro-Palestinian ≠ antisemitism
Anti-Zionism ≠ antisemitism
I genuinely believe that none of us are truly free until all of us are free. Until then, may good fortune and grace continually fall upon anyone brave enough to speak truth to power, especially at the risk of their own personal safety and wellbeing. Free Palestine 🇵🇸

“‘Mercy!’ I said. ‘Do you suppose I have come here to show mercy? Do you suppose i have paid a thousand francs for that?’ I swear to you, that if it were not for that accursed law that robs us of our liberty, I would have murdered her at that moment.
