honestly really happy with the direction bloodlines took with the survivors all being part of the same family. because that's always been a favorite of mine in the past movies,, just, the way the different characters are connected and how that gives a bigger impact to some of the deaths.

like in the first one it's alex and tod. and alex has to then grapple with the fact that he lost his best friend and that tod's parents now blame him for the deaths of both of their sons.

in the second one it's nora and tim. she literally watches her son die and then listens to kimberly and clear tell her she's next. the way the grief and sadness weighs her down after her son's death is so visible and finding out that her husband died too?? it's so rough. and the audience doesn't even have much time to sit with her grief before her death happens and it's such a brutal one.

the third is obviously wendy and julie and it's really the only one that has that big connection where the visionary doesn't have to live with that grief. but wendy has the grief of losing jay and carrie. and she has this preemptive grief for julie when she realizes that her sister was on the rollercoaster too.

ian and erin are also really big ones for the third movie and the grief there is so big that it influences all of ian's actions from that point on. he loses sight of himself in the wake of her death and i find it to be one of the most interesting reactions.

and then, building on the concept of ian's reaction, is candice and peter. a more drawn out version of ian and erin. so, again, in my opinion a very intriguing look at the interpersonal relationships between these characters and how their grief is influenced by their dynamic but also how that grief influences them. because if ian lost sight of him, peter didn't even have himself to return to. the peter that existed before candice's death didn't exist anymore after. his arc is probably one of my personal favorites for just how off the rails he goes.

now, with bloodlines, the idea of those connections and the way that grief informs or alters these characters is blown up to its biggest potential. this is a whole family. seeing them come together for iris's funeral even though they had a strained or nonexistent relationship with her. seeing the way howard's death shook all of them. or the panic in stefani when she thought erik was dead. the way stefani, charlie, and erik did everything in their power to save julia. erik trying to prevent bobby's death, not just for bobby, but for the rest of his family as well. how he became just another name on death's list in his desperation. charlie, voice breaking, asking why erik had to die too. darlene trying in vain to sacrifice herself for her kids. charlie bringing stefani back from the brink of death only for the two of them to die together.

i just really love when horror movies touch on grief and final destination has always had the perfect opportunities to touch on it in small portions,, but this new one did everything it could to have that grief baked into the concept. it's even in the moment of iris talking about paul.

they were a family !! there is love there and there has been love throughout the entirety of the fd franchise !! just genuinely stoked about this movie and the way it's revitalized the franchise for new fans and old fans alike

@comicgeekscomicgeek I’ve never cared much for Havok, but if Lorna had been treated respectfully and past poor treatment was rectified, I COULD have come around to him. It’s a decades old shit sandwich of a relationship, but someone who wants to do good work could have modernized things with enough time and effort.

But that’s not what any of these guys want.

They want their nostalgia for heaping boatloads of sexism, and they want to convince other people that the sexism is somehow good. They’re like Elon Musk in that way, in how Musk COULD have garnered real respect by being a good person and supporting good causes, but he instead tries to trick people into supporting his vile bullshit. Just as Musk wants “respect” where he can be as cruel and soulless as he wants and get praise for it, these guys want people to be into Havolaris on their sexist as fuck terms. They can’t stand the idea of Polaris being her own woman who has an existence that’s not all about putting Havok on a pedestal.

It’s a problem that goes back decades, and gets shrugged off with nostalgia. They recognized this kind of shit was wrong with how Sue Storm used to be treated, especially around Reed. They modernized her. They let her have her own thoughts, feelings, interests, and buffed up her powers to be more than just “turns invisible.” Because they know it’s wrong.

But they refuse to do the same for Polaris. Because they think they can get away with it because she’s not a household name.

Polaris is the second woman to join the X-Men, having been created in 1968. Any semblance of that history has been completely wiped out to emphasize her as Havok’s girlfriend.

They treat her like she didn’t exist until at best the 80s, but usually as if she didn’t exist until 90s X-Factor. And as if she has no history at all with the O5, despite how she SHOULD have meaningful interactions with both Jean and Bobby. She was Jean’s first female peer! She was in a “love triangle” with Bobby! Surely she has SOMETHING to contribute in terms of both covering Jean’s pre-Phoenix days and in serving as an ally for Iceman after he came out as gay.

As soon as they decided she has to be focused on Havok, they decided literally EVERY other relationship and bit of history before him didn’t exist.

And then AGAIN in the 00s, she was on a good path after the Genoshan genocide to be her own character. She had PTSD as a survivor who not only experienced it personally, but had to relive its final moments with her powers until she was found in the ruins. It was respected enough that she had an episode of Wolverine and the X-Men dedicated to it.

… then she got sent into fucking space in the comics, far from anything X-Men and mutant rights, for years. To be Havok’s fucking girlfriend again. While he fucked around in space leading Starjammers cause it was his dad’s legacy, and god forbid Lorna get to spend any time doing shit that matters to her.

So now Marvel absolutely refuses to acknowledge she’s a survivor of a fucking genocide. They have Storm browbeat Captain America in panels about it even though she wasn’t there. They exploit Genosha for a big Avengers crossover story, Axis, while they have Polaris fucking around far from the action on All-New X-Factor.

They have Kitty Pryde do a whole story arc focused on her doing stuff for the Genoshan dead cause her dad died there. But then when they have Lorna show up for that very same arc, she’s written as if she has absolutely no history with the island. Worse yet, when she shows up, she’s written as complaining about a lack of coffee there. On fucking Genosha. The place she almost died at, that gave her PTSD for a whole run of X-Men.

They can’t be bothered to respect even the most high profile, most important things she’s ever done or experienced. But they trip over their own balls endlessly to force Havok on her whenever she so much as sneezes.

I’m sick of giving Havok chances when the people who want to force Havolaris can’t give a single shred of respect for Lorna.

If they gave a fuck, they would insist on Lorna’s key history getting respected. They would recognize how Polaris having her OWN history, her OWN experiences, how her being a genocide survivor, all MEANS something. If they saw the relationship as a relationship at all, not just as a chance to use sexism to promote their favorite fuckboy, they’d see how Lorna needs to be treated right for the relationship to be good and for Havok to actually benefit.

But no, they can’t be bothered cause their interests aren’t in making their supposed beloved relationship good. It’s to retain and reinforce the sexism.

So I’m just flat out done with Havok. He’s a bygone relic of misogynistic thinking that nobody wants to make not a pile of shit.

I hate Havok/Alex Summers now. Havolaris is now very clearly a completely unsalvageable relationship that always, ALWAYS has an element of sexism (usually subtle, sometimes blatant). And it all comes down to Jordan White, Tom Brevoort, Beau DeMayo, and a majority of Havok fans demonstrating why I should by how poorly they treat and view Polaris/Lorna Dane to promote him.

I’ve been a Polaris fan since 2009. Over a decade and a half. In that time, I used to say one very clear and definitive thing. I used to say that if they kept the Havolaris relationship apart for a decade, focused on Polaris and Havok as their own characters and did enough meaningful with Polaris in that time, they could come back together as a good couple.

This is what happened instead.

Jordan White forced Havok into EVERY depiction of Lorna under his control except Duggan’s run, ONLY because she won the X-Men vote. Something he found distasteful enough to try and dismiss her win as happening only because she was on Gifted. And every time Havok got forced into Lorna’s affairs, it was to frame Lorna as incompetent, weak, or incapable of having any identity outside of being his (ex-)girlfriend.

Beau DeMayo told the Genoshan genocide story without Polaris anywhere in sight, even though she was one of the core survivors in the comics. She had fucking PTSD because of it for an entire X-Men run! She had an issue, New X-Men 132, almost entirely dedicated to finding her in the rubble and her broadcasting Genosha’s final moments! But no. Not even in the fucking background. Instead, Lorna’s only appearances were two reminders of her as Havok’s girlfriend on 90s X-Factor, and a split second animation of her as a future slave.

And we have Tom Brevoort. Who among so many other things I could say, most recently had Polaris repeatedly treated like a weak damsel on the just ended X-Factor with a clear goal of fucking her over just after her great showing in Fall of the House of X all so he could force her back into relationship with Havok.

And then there’s the Havok fans. I know not all Havok fans are the same. But the ones I saw the most of, who I had the most interaction with? They ALWAYS insisted that Lorna “needs” to be in relationship with him. They ALWAYS insisted that any bad treatment of Lorna in any of this came down to Havok being treated poorly instead. That if their woobie perfect cis straight blonde white man just got a little more of the endless opportunities they keep giving him but never Polaris in her own right, it would trickle down to Lorna.

Cause we know trickle down economics works for fiction even though it doesn’t in real life economics, right?

The Havok fans I’ve seen and talked to never want Lorna to be her own fucking character with her own thoughts, feelings, experiences. Her own worth independent of Havok. They want the relationship forced onto Lorna because in truth? They’re fucking afraid that he really is a nobody ass clown and can’t hack it on his own without Polaris reduced to his ever-present manic pixie dream girlfriend. They can’t give her a single second, nevermind ten years, just being herself and building herself up toward a future benefit.

So fuck Havok.

I gave the idea of Havolaris a chance. I gave the character a chance. I gave them a decade and a half of my life to fix this shit. But they’re all just too goddamn committed to fucking Polaris over any time she gets the tiniest scrap of something good. They all love their nostalgia, with its origins of rampant sexism meant in its original time to kill the feminism she had on creation, way too much.

They have all proven to me beyond a shadow of a doubt that Havolaris will never not be sexist self-insert fanwankery, and that Havok himself will never be anything but a fuckboy who always requires making a hot green-haired woman look more pathetic and useless than him to garner any semblance of appeal.

Which still isn’t enough to keep a book from getting canceled cause it sucks shit and the majority of people don’t want to read sexist trash. But hey. That’s apparently what Havok fans want, and what people at Marvel want cause it’s the only place they can get away with being sexist (since they can’t be sexist toward Jean, or Storm, or Emma and get away with it).

Anyone who wants to try to make me think differently, don’t bother. You’re competing against a decade and a half of direct personal experience. You’re not changing my mind with a half-assed bit of gaslighting.

Oh you know what that book (or rather the author) did that annoyed me most? One thing that doesn't change is how much incredible talent there is in this fandom, so I'm back with another round of fic that I've read and loved over the last month. Lots of processing emotions via fic being done here, so spoilers for the season below including mcd and grief.

this must be the place by @becausebuckley with couch theory and domestic dawning roommates era buddie, this is them navigating what to keep and how (and why) they're combining their lives and their living space. Lovely character study and exploration of thematic motifs.

sing to me instead by @putanauhere written after 8x15, in which Eddie receives a phonecall and doesn't believe it at first, he and Chris return to LA, and Buck helps them buy Chris a suit for the funeral. Emotions run high whilst they try and hold it together, Eddie feels disconnected from the firefam and Buck feels disconnected from his body. Really fantastic team dynamics here, and the splintered processing of grief manifesting in a myriad of ways.

slow dancing on landmines by @glorious-spoon written after 8x16, this is Buck and Eddie grief sex fic, in which Eddie runs shortly after to avoid the conversations needed to be had. Beautifully written and achingly tender, it's messy and complicated feelings in all their glory.

The Kingdom Where Nobody Dies by @ponyregrets a Chris POV 8x15 coda, in which Buck calls Eddie to tell him about Bobby, and Chris contemplates a poem that speaks to him. Really lovely strong Chris voice, and a Chris and Harry exchange that made me cry.

they're back in the same house as if it's my fault.... by @fastcardotmp3 a short 600 word coda to 8x17 with a gorgeously rendered conversation between Buck and Chris, continuing on from their I'm sorry about Bobby discussion, and touching on their own dynamic.

8x17 coda by @chronicowboy deep in the crunchy feelings, after their fight, Eddie calls Chris from the couch. I love how this one explores Eddie actively trying to change his previous habits in his openness with Chris, and how Chris reads him and Buck so well.

tragedy & rage & grief by @ghostlandtoo Eddie and Chris have stayed in LA post 8x17 and Buck's glad but also...he's not coping well, and with he and Eddie sharing a bed, there's no private release for his grief. Eddie sees him, and they talk...and find a way to deal together. Hard and full of big messy feelings, the grief and release of this one really felt cathartic through the hurt.

i blinked and suddenly i had a valentine by @redrosydiaz adorable Jee fic! Jee Yun is making Valentine's day cards for all the firefam and Eddie is very touched to see she's written hers to Uncle Eddie...isn't it cute? But of course...only Buck is the other 'Uncle' she's mentioned, the rest of the firefam are all just their names. Wherever could she have gotten that idea?

sweetness follows by @pairofraggedclaws in which it's Eddie's first day back at the 118 and Buck and Eddie figure it out, through the eyes of Bobby, Hen and Chim. This is a breath of fresh air for anyone needing team banter, teasing and love. A wonderful farcical they don't know that we know they know we know story.

then you'll feel that you want me (the way i want you) by PrinceLix GOOD GOD. THEEEEE Buck's Eddie in latex gloves kink fic to end all fics. A must read for anyone who's ever gone cross-eyed at the sight of Ryan's gigantic paws lol. But beautifully written, sizzlingly erotic, and guaranteed to get you blushing especially if you're reading on public transport whoops. Despite Buck's best efforts, Eddie clocks what's going on and comes up with a plan to get Buck to fold, it goes splendidly.

featherlight by @coldbam - in which coldbam is struck by Apollo's Dodgeball for Ryan's hummingbird Disney Prince moment, by writing this sweet as all get out hobbyist birder Eddie fic! Buck encourages Eddie with his new hobby whilst he's in El Paso, downloading an app so he can identify the birds stopping by his garden. So so lovely and gentle. I just wanted to chinhands at them both.

once more, with feeling by @spaceshipkat in which Eddie gets a sixth sense that something's not right as he and Chris drive home supposedly to meet Buck for their happy reunion. When they get their the house is empty, and something isn't right...Eddie spirals, but works to get Buck back from whomever has taken him. A real nailbiter with some super intriguing dynamics, and clever sleuthing.

to have and to hold (platonically and heterosexually) by @littlefreakbuckley in which Buck's solution to Eddie losing health insurance in his move to El Paso is for them to get married for the benefits, and it turns out they both REALLY like being each other's husband....even if Eddie's straight and this is totally platonic, of course. Delicious tropey fun.

Bashing Fics in the 9-1-1 Fandom

Inspired by @beforeastorm‘s very neat look at 9-1-1 bashing fics in August and in September 2024, I took another look at the numbers yesterday (23rd January 2025) and… it’s been interesting.

Methods and materials:

For that I selected the 9-1-1 (TV) tag on ao3 while logged into my account and thereby ensuring I would see both public and locked fics; beforeastorm only considered public fics so by god I hope that some of the increases can be explained by that. Then I used the Include filter function to search for [Character Name] Bashing. Where this returned nothing I employed the Search within result function to search for “[character name] bashing”, trying out variations (last or first or nickname). To double-check I also did this search for characters with established bashing tags, using the Exclude filter to ensure that I would not count any fic twice.

Some characters have a bashing tag for themselves and a couple bashing tag. For example: if you search for Margaret Buckley Bashing, you will be offered two tag: Margaret Buckley Bashing and Margaret Buckley and Phillip Buckley Bashing. As far as I could tell, searching for the individual bashing tag also always counts the couple bashing tag, so the couple bashing tags could be disregarded. A list of the characters I looked at is under the cut.

The numbers were collected in an excel file and assigned the characters categories: main (meaning main adult character), family, love interest and other. I also took note of the gender. I did some analysis in excel before having the smart idea that I might as well use this as a training exercise for R (and I am very bad at R).

Disclaimer: this will not include all bashing fics because sadly some people are not familiar with tagging or love letting people run into a fic they will not enjoy. Also while I much prefer it when people tag bashing, some are overly careful and may use bashing tags when not really needed. Still, I much prefer that to people not tagging.

Results:

Disappointing but hardly surprising at this point: the extremely dubious honour of being the most bashed character goes to Tommy Kinard with 660 bashing fics to his name. That obviously makes him the most bashed character of the love interest category, followed by Ana Flores (241) and then Taylor Kelly (118 ^^). The most bashed characters of the family category are the Buckley parents (347 and 325) followed by the Diaz parents (238 and 176), with the mothers being given more bashing fics than the fathers. In the other category, Vincent Gerrard leads with the 66 times his bashing tag was used. Chase Mackey is in third place with 26 fics, and in second place is the Firehouse 118 Crew (45) which probably could be rather counted to the main character category.

Which brings us to that category. Chimney has been bashed in 317 fics, making him the most bashed main character. Followed by Maddie with 223 fics and Bobby with 163. Out of all the main adult characters, Buck is the only one without an established bashing tag. There are 7 fics out there that you can find if you employ a variation of queries with his name + bashing; that is if I have made no mistake. Because honestly? Finding Buck bashing fics is hard. Athena and Buck are the only main characters with less than 10 bashing fics to their name.

Dishonourable mention: why the fuck would anybody write a fic with Christopher bashing?

Honourable mentions: Boeing and dolphin bashing. It did make the otherwise pretty depression task of data collection much better.

Gender-wise there are more bashing fics about men (54.3%) than there about women (44.3%) (of course I did not look at every character so I will have missed a few bashing fics). If nobody was writing Tommy bashing fics, that would be flipped (male: 43.0%, female: 55.3%).

Which brings us to the tragedy that is the hate this fandom has for Tommy Kinard. If you add up all the bashing tags I found (which does not equal fics, some people are happily bashing away in their fics), then his account for about 20%. Which is insane, wtf.

Discussion:

This was really depressing tbh. I showed the bar plot to my sister and she asked me what bashing is. She’s been in fandom for years; she was in the supernatural fandom and has read fics and somehow I still had to explain bashing to her. So really: yay for us, this fandom really is something.

 If you look at beforeastorm’s tally from August, you’ll see that Tommy bashing fics began popping up in April 2024 and since then he has become the most bashed character (out of those I looked at, I’m pretty sure that this holds true).

Now you may be wondering why these characters are being bashed. Warning: the following part is based on my opinions. I did not read the fics of all 3291 bashing tag instances that I found.

In some cases it seems pretty straight forward: Vincent Gerrard, Chase Mackey, Doug Kendall and Olivia Ortiz need no further explanation. Other “villains” such as Jeffrey Hudson and Jonah Greenway have no bashing fics that I could find though.

The Buckley and Diaz parents getting bashed is also not surprising. Can’t say that I’m wild about it since my experience with reading fics that tag bashing was usually “here’s a random evil person I made up and then gave the name of an existing character”, but I understand where people are coming from.

Now the main characters… I’m just gonna say it: it’s people who have wronged Buck – according to some of the fandom at least. Chimney’s crime: the punch (no, I’m not defending it, but some people really have run with this). Maddie’s crime: not telling Buck about Daniel and then wanting to talk to him about it when he didn’t want to. Bobby’s crime: not allowing Buck back to work. Hen’s crime: idk, being Chimney’s bestie?

As for Eddie: I guess he’s a misogynist now, if you ask some people? Idk, it’s not like I read the summaries of all the fics because there are too many and also just no.

The love interests – which yes, in this case all happen to be Buck and Eddie’s love interests, imagine my surprise – happen to be “in the way” of shipping I guess. I did look at other love interest or ex-relationships and could find nothing.

Tommy’s crime: loving Evan.

Conclusion:

If you write bashing please keep tagging it.

I'm scrolling through the comments on the 911 official Instagram, and it's so good! I don't even feel sorry for Tim with the amount of hate he's getting right now!

I love reading that everyone is on the same wavelength regarding Eddie and his storyline. Ryan deserves so much better. He deserves to have his storyline shown ON FUCKING SCREEN! NOT OFF!

Everyone is also complaining that the toxic, racist geriatric plot device was there! Good. Because why the fuck would you show his blank reaction as opposed to EDDIE'S?! A LITERAL MAIN CHARACTER! They could've very easily cut geriatric's expression out and replaced it with Eddie finding out, just Bucks name flashing up on his phone and his face going from happy at seeing Buck's name to completely devastated!

I really hope next week is the last episode where we have the geriatric because if Tim keeps bringing him back, I will scream!

If they really have killed Bobby off... I dread to think of how they're going to set up season 9 because, at this point, with this much backlash (again), not even Buddie going canon will save this show!

Because I'm going to be honest, the revolving door of writers needs to stop. The quality of writing from the earlier seasons is top notch... Now the show is just suffering... Badly!

A/N: Hi guys! I feel like i might post a little bit more now that i'm back, also there is a part two (and maybe three) in the works for this! i will create a list for you to be able to find all the parts and link it to my masterlist once i get it all set up. Also now i am on A03 and i will link that to my masterlist here in a little bit too. Anyway sorry for the long authors note, heres the fic. <3

I think of ways to turn the tables and fear what happens when they turn, the anger he fills in turn fills me with uncertainty and anxiety. His father passed the hate down the table, passed through graves and passed through cradles. He said he could never turn out like him, he was different. He kept those he wanted to protect at arms length, never fully giving himself the right to feel and to be loved. The one exception to the rule was Sam. Little brother Sammy, his whole reason for continuing on was to take care of Sam and protect him. Then here I came into the picture like a wrecking ball through the perfectly built motel room. 

Left on the doorstep with nothing but a note that read: John i could no longer take care of our child so i give them to you. May they grow to be strong and better than the both of us. There was no name left on the note but my father John Winchester knew who it was from, some random lady in a bar. He never wanted to deal with me so he placed me into Dean's caring arms. Dean was not only my brother and caregiver but also my dad in my eyes. So Dean and Sam became my whole world my entire life, until Sam left us for college. Being only 6 at the time I had a very little understanding of why he left but Dean always just said he left us. So I hunted with Dean and John, well less hunting and more researching for them and learning everything I could about the lore so that I could be helpful to Dean and John and take Sam's place in hunting. 

 Then it was just me and Dean hunting and I learned the basics.  When Dean went to get Sam from college because John had been gone for a few days on a hunting trip i was so angry, how could he leave us and how could Dean still want him back especially when i was 10 and more than capable of helping dean. Then he came back and we were together again and things were good, until Dean died and Sam dropped me off at Bobbys. I was 13 years old and I could hunt with him, I didn't want to be away from both of my brothers. Bobby thought that I needed a car though so he let me rebuild one with him so I rebuilt my sweetheart, I couldn’t call her baby despite me loving the car, a 1965 mustang. A nice little two seater that I had painted green. I used the car to visit where Sam had Dean buried, all the time. Bobby was concerned at how much time I spent at his grave but I couldn't help it. 

I had lost both of my brothers and the only family I had ever had and I was grasping at straws, I lived but it was my spirit that was haunting Bobby's house. I had become basically mute within these past months and Bobby was trying everything to get me to speak again. So when Dean returned out of nowhere I stayed by his side, though it worried Dean how quiet I was. I never left his side though which helped to ease his anxieties and when the entity was following Dean we had bigger things to deal with. I stayed far away from Sam not being able to look in his eyes after being left again. Then we met Castiel. I was very worried and very scared. Somehow Cas picked up on it though and constantly eased my fears, he could tell why i didn't trust Sam and unlike Dean accepted and understood it. Cas easily became a good friend to me because I didn't have to speak with him and he didn't have to try to understand human norms with me. 

Dean and Sam were both worried about this new found friendship between me and the angel but they saw the way that I was opening up. Saw the way I was becoming happy again and they just couldn't interfere. Everything changed when I turned 15 Castiel died and Sam went to hell. Cas came back though like always and when Sam didn't have a soul and Dean was searching for a way to return his, Cas stuck by me cared for me and kept me safe. He answered when I called and he took care of me. He takes care of me and is the only person I can trust. Then I hit 16 and the worst period of my life began, Cas declared himself the new god. The sadness I felt in my chest, crushing my heart.

For the first time in almost 4 years I had something to say 

“Cas STOP!” I said

Everyone turned to stare at me, and Cas turned to walk towards me. He took my hand

 in his and said,

“I am extremely proud of you my very devoted little one” 

His tone borders on threatening and dipping into enjoyment and pride.

He looked between Dean and Sam and myself before he spoke once more

“I expect complete devotion from you all…” he paused for a second, taking a breath before turning to me. The look in his eyes was no longer the soft and comforting look I had grown accustomed to. 

“��you have proven that you will speak for me in what you consider dire situations, so I command you to continue to do so” his gaze softened “ You have always been my favorite, my little one. Please do not give me any reason to punish you.”  

I, not being able to meet his gaze any longer, turned to look at the ground. My favorite person was now gone and there was nothing I could do to bring him back. I could follow him and leave my brothers again, leave my family. Or I could stay and lose the person I'm closest to in the whole world.

I could hear Dean and Sam shouting but I felt like my head was being pushed underwater, I couldn't breathe and I could feel the tears begin to run down my face and splatter on to the floor below. My vision was blurry and it was so loud everything was so loud, my entire life was falling apart and there was nothing I could do about it. I was completely hopeless and useless, I wasn't good enough. Good enough to help Sam and Dean with hunts, or protect them from going to hell, I couldn't do anything. I could feel my breathing quicken and my chest tightening. 

“STOP” Cas’s voice cut clear though the air, he turned from the boys walking towards me. My thoughts, eyes, and breathing were still shaky and unfocused. At some point I had ended up on my knees sobbing.

“Obviously I cannot leave the care of you to these two, my little one, I better take you with me.” He stated, me not hearing him, though it was more a threat to the boys. Dean finally noticed me and ran over and moved to be on his knees, Sam hot on his trail following suit to kneel in front of me.

“Hey hey hey your ok sweetheart, I promise. I got you, deanies here, don't worry.” Dean said, bringing up the nickname I used to call him trying to calm me down. Dean and Sam continued their calming words till my breath returned to normal. Cas was still staring at us from afar. He looked at us for a minute before speaking 

“If you wish for me to let you keep your sister I expect obedience Dean, I do not want to fret over her as i try to rebuild heaven. I could always just take her with me if that would make you more compliant.” His voice booming and loud

“P…. please let me stay” my voice is still shaky and rough not only from the panic attack but from years of not using it.

“This is not a decision for you to make, if i dont think Dean is capable of caring for you then I won't hesitate to bring you with me.” He said to me 

“Remember for almost 4 years I was the only person you spoke to. I know everything about you, and Dean cannot care for you as much as I could, little one.” Castiel’s voice seemed to soften when speaking to me. Dean could no longer take the former angel speaking as if he could not care for HIS siblings any longer.

“I’ve taken care of her my entire life Cas I think I know what I am doing.” He said a little bit pissed and it showed through his voice.

“I am no longer Cas to you Dean, you may refer to me as lord or god but never speak as if you are close to me again.” The statement was heartbreaking for the hunter, who always had a ‘profound bond’ with the angel.

“Another thing you say you have cared for them yet they were mute for four years, and you have caused so much damage to them. Do you really think you can care for them better than I?” Cas asked him completely serious

“I tried Cas you know better than anyone that i tried for almost two years, but i can't MAKE them talk” Dean was full blown angry now. Making me more frightened

“I TOLD YOU TO NOT CALL ME CAS.” Cas said his voice booming off the walls, he brought his hand up to slam Dean into the wall

“Stop, stop, stop please, I’m sorry, I'm so sorry, please just let me stay.” you cried out

“You have no control over my actions, little one. Dean had been given too many warnings, but seeing as you want to stay I will allow it, but believe me I will be doing check ups, and if I believe that you are not being cared for I will not hesitate to take you. You are still only a child who needs to be protected.” Cas said putting Dean down, Sam running to help him, Cas then turned from me to the brothers before speaking one last time.

“Heed my warnings. I am not going to repeat myself.” he said before disappearing, leaving the siblings alone in the warehouse.

Genuinely question, how can you name your blog that if u like buddie? That scene totally put me off then completely, Eddie was so mean and not the guy I thought he was at all.

Saying that with that anger and venom in his voice made me sick to my stomach, like an abusive guy that's gaslighting his partner. And poor Buck was so defensive, trapped in a corner when Eddie pretty much shoved him back abd made him all meek

I really don't know how the buddies have all moved on from it and still think we're going canon I really don't.

It was so mean and reminded me of what my dad was like to my mom 😭

i’m sorry if that scene triggered you. i just didn’t see it the same way (and i say this as someone who grew up with an abusive father too)

eddie wasn’t intentionally trying to hurt buck, which is what an actually abusive person typically does. he was trying to reach buck emotionally, since buck had completely closed himself off after bobby’s funeral. the only reason he said those words about buck being selfish was because he wanted to push buck to open up - which, to be honest, buck kind of needed to do, even though eddie pushing him was wrong

if you look closely, you’ll see that they’re both in the wrong in this scene. buck responds with “i’m sorry bobby’s dead,” which is a hurtful thing to say back, as if eddie isn’t just as devastated as he is

buck was “defensive, trapped in a corner” not because he was afraid of eddie - i think he knows eddie well enough not to feel threatened by his words or consider him “abusive,” as some people like you have suggested, overlooking eddie’s character as a whole - but because eddie’s grief forced him to confront his own, which he was avoiding. buck took bobby’s words about being strong after his death too much to heart. i think bobby said it because he knew buck was passively suicidal and wanted to give him something to hold onto, but it ended up causing buck to ignore his own - and, in the process, everyone else’s - pain because it was too unbearable. all eddie wanted was for buck to finally face it so they could both process their grief together. he wanted buck to be there for him, and he wanted to be there for buck, but he couldn’t do that while buck was repressing everything. so it all came to a head in this kitchen fight

this scene didn’t remind me of how my abusive dad talked to my mother. it reminded me of how my friends and i fight when we’re not doing well mentally - saying dumb things we don’t mean because of heightened emotions. then, later, we realize what a mistake we made, talk it out, apologize, and forgive each other. it takes a very secure connection to be able to be “ugly” with each other. and grief is messy. no matter how much therapy buck and eddie have had, that kind of stress can still revert a person to the unhealed version of themselves. i don’t know a single person who stays cool and rational when they’re going through something traumatic. people are messy and stupid sometimes, and true love is about being able to see each other’s flaws and love each other despite - or maybe even because of - them. obviously, that doesn’t apply if someone is treating you badly on a regular basis, which brings me to my next point:

the words “eddie was so mean and not the guy i thought he was at all” are interesting to me because, well, that’s kind of the point - he’s not like that consistently. if he was acting like this toward buck 24/7, then yeah, he’d be a certified asshole. but it was a one-time thing, and it happened because he was grieving bobby and was mad at himself for not being there when bobby died, and mad at buck for not letting him in so they could deal with this mess together

literally all of their fights happen because they hate being apart and not “having each other’s backs.” the grocery store fight in season 3 happened because eddie had just lost shannon, and not having buck beside him - losing him because of the lawsuit - only added salt to the wound. buck was too caught up in his own pain and abandonment issues to notice how it was affecting the people around him - eddie, chris, and the 118. eddie needed buck, and buck wasn’t there, which led to eddie confronting him. and let’s not forget that “poor buck” physically injured eddie when his jealousy got the best of him in season 7. but eddie forgave him because he understood why buck acted that way. when eddie was moving to el paso, he was mad at buck for not talking to him about how he was actually feeling - though that was eddie’s fault too, because he wasn’t opening up about how much losing buck actually meant to him. they both had to avoid going there because if they did, they’d have to confront why they both didn’t want eddie and chris to stay in el paso. and they weren’t ready to do that yet

honestly, their fights are some of my favorite moments in their relationship because they always come from a place of love and devotion. i love when characters are messy and human. considering both of their childhood traumas, of course their communication won’t always be perfect - especially with those lingering, unspoken feelings between them that they can’t yet address because it’s very delicate and they’re both afraid of crossing that platonic line

but again, i think we need to look at this scene within the context of their entire relationship, where they both show up for each other and express their love 99% of the time. that’s not abusive in any way, in my opinion. people are allowed to be complex and make mistakes as long as they admit them, apologize, and learn from them - which is exactly what buck and eddie do when they hurt each other

buck himself explained it: “so, every day is the best day ever. is that really love? shouldn’t it be when you’re at your worst, they’re at their worst, you have every reason to give up, and you still decide you want to try again?”

i’m also pretty sure that buck would bring up the “trials and tribulations of evan buckley, a tragedy in 97 acts” line to eddie himself and laugh about how ridiculous it sounded - just like he brought up “you know, i thought for sure that day in the grocery store you were going to take a swing at me” and turned it into playful banter. because he knows eddie and trusts him enough to interpret it as “remember that stupid, mean stuff we said during that fight? we’re so dumb sometimes, lol” instead of an actual threat. he knows eddie would never intentionally hurt him

honestly, i don’t even know why i’m responding to this, because i really don’t understand how people interpret that scene as abusive. my mind just didn’t go there at all. but yeah, maybe that helped you see the scene in a different light. if not, then let’s just agree to disagree

Thunderbolts Review

WARNING: SPOILERS UNDER THE CUT!! IF YOU DO NOT WANT SPOILERS, PLEASE SCROLL

I am going to start out by saying that this movie is fucking great. I genuinely enjoyed this movie so, so much. The story was great, the characters were incredibly emotional, and the action was a lot of fun to watch.

Now, on to the specifics

Can I just say, Bob? Phenomenal character. Lewis Pullman is an incredibly talented actor. His performance is captivating, and he is able to play such dynamic, complex emotions

I honestly loved John Walker. He is the same character as the Walker we know from TFATWS. He’s still an asshole, but he’s fun to watch because the context is a a lot different

Walker calling Bob “Bobby”, unintentionally calling Bob the name his abuser called him? Yeah, that fucking hurt, but what a great detail

Valentina is diabolical. Her manipulation of Bob was heartbreaking to watch. Her calling him “Robert” and saying how she is the only one who understands him, who thinks he’s special, to someone who is so emotionally vulnerable genuinely made me angry

And Valentina’s lore drop sure was something. I want to see more about how her accidentally getting her father killed had followed her throughout her life

And I’m pretty sure the necklace she’s wearing when first talking to Bob is the same necklace she has in the flashback

I love how seriously this movie takes mental health

I loved how the final fight scene is essentially Bob fighting his inner demon, but he starts out alone, so it begins to consume him, but when the rest of the Thunderbolts simply hold him and say he’s not alone, that’s when he’s able to overcome the Void

I greatly enjoyed the color scheme of this movie. I thought it was really cool how it was pretty gray-scale, very bleak, so the color popped a lot more, but using the coloring and scenery to depict how life with mental illness can be very bleak and colorless was a really beautiful detail

I accidentally said “Ew” at a not-quiet volume when I saw Bob’s blonde hair. Thank GOD it went back to brown

Void’s design was fucking cool

The humor in this movie was really well-timed

I love how much Red Guardian and Yelena bickered, but I love even more how much they love each other

Alexei’s scream when he thought Yelena was dead broke my fucking heart

The lighting in this movie was super cool. I really liked the first scene Yelena was in. The shadows were really cool to watch and acted as a nice bit of foreshadowing

I wish there was more Bucky, but I understand why there wasn’t. They wanted to give the lesser-known characters a chance to be in the spotlight

And I still hate his hair. His hair in the end credit scene is even worse

BUT the car chase scene that we were shown in the trailers is really fucking cool. It definitely felt like we were watching the Winter Soldier in action (in the sense that this seems like an action the Winter Soldier would do, not that he was the Winter Soldier, if that makes sense)

I cried when Alexei was telling Yelena that she was a good person. I love how it was made abundantly clear that, yes, Yelena is not alone. Yes, the bad feelings are easier to bear with people. But that doesn’t mean the bad feelings go away right away, it just means there are other people to help you carry the weight

Sambucky shippers, I say this with the utmost sincerity, I am sorry

(They are majorly disagreeing in the end credit scene, but NO, Sam is not in the movie)

I know for a FACT that Ava and Yelena bullied John until he swapped the helmet for his little beret (they still definitely bully him for it)

I also love how Bob has his own little calm corner in the New Avengers HQ (I’m not sure what they’re calling it)

AND HOLY SHIT

FANTASTIC FOUR

HELL YEAH

To conclude, I love this movie. (Clearly. I’ve said “I love” so many times, it’s ridiculous.) I’m sure there’s so much about it that I haven’t said, but these are my thoughts after my first watch. All of the actors gave amazing performances, and the heartfelt moments were a pleasure to watch. The characters were all enjoyable to watch and extremely sympathetic. I am trying to strong-arm my brother into going with me next weekend. I completely suggest you go see it.

Q. ABC wouldn't be responsible for the amount of photoshoots and interviews that Ryan and Oliver are getting though. Their PR teams would be responsible for that, right? I don't think that's a marketing strategy so much as their people are just doing a really good job of hustling for them. Am I wrong?

A. With all due respect, you're wrong. ABC absolutely has the control to the media's access to them leading up to and following each episode. Yes their individual teams are involved but ABC is the one sitting at the head of the table. These things weren't happening while the show was on FOX. These aren't coincidences. They're an intentional coordinated strategy on ABC's part. I want to make sure people understand that admitting what ABC's strategy is does not amount to insulting Angela, Peter and Jennifer. No one is doing that. When the show first premiered Angela and Peter were the only cast selling points from a promotional standpoint. Oliver, Aisha and Kenny were mostly unknown. Jennifer and Ryan weren't there yet. It only made sense to center the show around Peter and Angela. But because it's an ensemble show the audience was naturally going to bond with some characters more than others. Buck is hands down an audience favorite. The audience watched him grow up and mature from season to season. Ask a hundred viewers who their favorite character is and Buck is going to be said more times than Bobby or Athena. No one should be pretending otherwise at this point. Ask those same viewers that question two seasons ago and Eddie is finishing near the bottom of that survey, not because of anything Eddie or Ryan did wrong but as a result of how he was used. Ask that question this season and Eddie is probably finishing top 3. The show has evolved. The audience has evolved. The storylines have to match that evolution. That's the nature of the business.

Oliver and Ryan are two very attractive men. That's not up for debate. They're affable, charming, seem genuinely lovely, and despite having different personality types are engaging and fun. They're easy to sell. People aren't requesting to speak to Peter, Angela, Jennifer, Aisha or Kenny following these episodes and ABC isn't offering them up. Jennifer had a couple during the abduction episodes and Aisha had some following her directorial debut, but other than that Oliver and Ryan are getting the overwhelming majority of the interviews. That's an intentional decision by ABC. Peter is getting the television interviews, but not many. No one is saying that it should become the Buck and Eddie show but the reality is they have to be more regularly involved. Chimney gets more to do than Eddie or Hen but he's still usually stuck playing Robin to Maddie's Batman. Again Jennifer was the bigger name coming in so once upon a time that made sense, but Kenny/Chimney is probably the bigger audience favorite of the two. They can let him lead more of their storylines every now and then. He shines when he's allowed too. Hen can do more than outsmart her problems and it's unfortunate that she's relegated to just usually being the voice of reason. We have multiple disaster episodes a season and almost all of them center around Bobby and Athena. That isn't going to work like it once did. The audience is different now. One of the reasons the tusnami episodes were so loved is because everyone was involved and they showed that Bobby and Athena could be present and impactful without being the center of attention. It's okay to admit the show and cast have moved beyond the need for Bobby and Athena to carry the burden. That's a good thing. And it appears like ABC wanted it that way. Tim just needs to adapt his storytelling to fit the new reality. That's all anyone is saying.

I didn't really have a favourite character in season 1, although I actually did like Abby a lot.🤷‍♀️ But then season 2 happened and I have been an Eddie truther ever since. The moment Eddie appeared in season 2 and his story unfolded? I was hooked. No way back. He has been my favourite character ever since then. He was always at the top for me, above everyone else and he still is to this day. ❤️

I was on a seventeen hour flight recently and binged a large chunk of the x-men movies, and man, I forgot how much of a mess they were:

WHO decided beast and mystique should be a thing??? I think the relationship is kinda cute but very random

the rogue/bobby/kitty love triangle is soooo stupid. I know bobby wasn’t officially gay in the 2000s but it’s very funny seeing the love triangle now, especially when he and pyro had chemistry. much more chemistry than rogue/bobby and kitty/bobby.

STORM WAS DONE DIRTY. whoever put that wig on halle berry should be fired

honestly everyone except magneto, professor x, and wolverine were done dirty

logan/jean is a flop relationship. three movies and idk why logan even likes jean besides the fact that she’s hot💀

jean/scott was boring in both sets of movies

tbh all the relationships in the movies are dumb asf except cherik

I forgot how bad scott’s death in the last stand was

I still don’t understand how charles came back to life at the end of the last stand but I’m not going to question it

I don’t like quicksilver in the x-men movies. that is NOT pietro. xmcu’s quicksilver is basically tommy shepherd, not pietro maximoff. also, I didn’t like that his name was changed to ‘peter’ maximoff

but even tho I’m not a fan of xmcu’s quicksilver, i’m so upset that we never got a dad reveal

pietro never should’ve been included in the movies because I don’t think you can include him without wanda. lorna should’ve taken his place in the movies instead since she’s actually an xmen unlike scarlet witch & quicksilver, and she and magneto have a decent relationship

I have so many feelings about magda eisenhardt and to include her for five mins and then kill her off with nina (idk why they didn’t name her anya) made me sad. like magda eisenhardt is an extremely strong woman who was sent to a concentration camp for being romani and she and magneto did their best to survive there so I think she deserves more respect

mystique/magneto is a horrible relationship, I hate it as much as I dislike magneto/rogue

speaking of rogue, I think anna paquin did the best she could with what she had but it’s kinda painful seeing rogue in the movies when she’s one of my fav xmen characters

idk why there are two emma frosts and angels

I would very much like to know what the rest of the cast thinks about this. Because we've been fed these last few days by interviews so I just wanna know whether they know what actually makes it into the episode and what is cut out.

Kenny did an amazing job with the speech I felt that very much. But when you look at the whole season there are just some things that don't make sense. (I need to do a rewatch to see it all in one sitting.)

But the fact that all it took for Eddie to stay was someone to tell him to. They could have done that in 8a and we would have the second half of the season to focus on his character development and trying to prioritise himself and his relationship with Chris and also Buck.

Hen and Karen had to wait a whole season to finalise the adoption process. (Which I completely forgot about, not Mara but the fact that they still haven't adopted her.)

Maddie had the baby so fast. They again could have done something with the characters. (Since they did the gender reveal cake they could have tried to explain to Jee that she's getting a brother not a sister. I think that would be so cute.)

Athena selling the house even though she said she won't. For me the final scene felt more like a goodbye. Like she's not only moving on but maybe even moving away, which I don't like.

And Buck is looking for an apartment even though we literally have a scene where Eddie's talking to him about how he won't kick him out and he will sleep on the couch. Also I think in the interviews Oliver and Ryan were talking about Buddie being roommates so?? (Maybe before he finds something new he will stay with them since Maddie has a new baby and doesn't need someone else living there. And before he finds something he will realise that he belongs with the Diaz's)

I'm really disappointed with the fact that Bobby is actually dead. (Even though there was the leaked script by JLH and Oliver on April's fool day. Which might have been real until they decided not to do it and really kill Bobby. And his death sidetracked every storyline which could have happened.) (excuse name errors/spelling mistakes i am not good at remembering shit hence why i want to make this post cause i think it's fun to do & people might enjoy reading my brain pluckings as i fight to catch up with you all)

- buck is going through it this season jesus leave him alone?? poor baby. he always looks like such a sad puppy dog i just wanna give him a hug and keep him safe. also eddie dropping off christopher with buck not only shows how much he trusts buck but it also shows his good buck is with kids, even after the tsunami incident.

- maddie bring the protective sister is my favourite thing at the moment.

- buck calling eddie ‘ed’ is precious hello??

- okay the tsunami episodes were amazing. i literally zoomed through them, can’t say im not a sucker for a natural disaster episode. buck had me stressed tf out though, poor baby trying to do everything he could to save Christopher and keep other people safe as well.

also each season they torture a character?? first bobby, then chimney and maddie but now buck and eddie? very mean. let them be happy <3

Hello again! Here is a jumbled list of one on one head canons for the smiling critters and nightmare critters

Note - I do view Nightmare critters as teenage coded characters and Smiling critters as kid coded characters. Some are world building thoughts, with (not good) families being mentioned. This might become an AU. (Got any names recommendations? I'm thinking of something like a found family.)

Baba Chops has chronic pain when on her period. (kinda like endometriosis or something similar)

Most of the Nightmare critters were homeless or living in not great conditions with not great families.

Simon had his moment of realization that living without a home wasn't a personal choice because of Touille. He then started noticing everyone was struggling with homelessness or crappy families.

Simon got so angry when Baba's family was terrible to her, and didn't even let her lay on the couch that she called her bed when she was in pain.

Simon sold some not that important to him gems from his horde to get his friends off the streets and into a safe space. He may or may not have almost 'accidentally' burnt Baba's family's house on fire while stealing the couch she called a bed because it was her comfort thing.

Allister has depression, water always makes him feel safe and comfortable.

Poe changed their name after escaping a not great family. That's why they don't have a second name.

Touille was homeless, and grew up eating from garbage cans. This has caused food scarcity problems in him.

Maggie was technically homeless, though she grew up in the ocean having to hunt for food, which has the same results as Touille.

Maggie eats so much food because in the ocean she had to eat quickly to avoid her food being stolen, meaning she didn't get the chance to taste much, and what she could taste was just salt water.

Catnap has undiagnosed narcolepsy. To his friends' knowledge, he's just a sleepy cat.

Hoppy had undiagnosed ADHD and physically can't stay still unless stimming, which does unknowingly, or messing with something.

Hoppy's favorite stim to bounce on her toes.

Kinkin loves surfing and has no idea how to do it. He doesn't know the difference between a paddle board and a surfboard.

Dogday is very easy to get hyper, he's a puppy.

Bubba 'teaches' (rambles way too fast) at his friends and then is confused on why they look confused.

Kinkin knows basic math, (addition and subtraction) but does it wrong on purpose (2+2=22) just to upset Bubba. It works very well.

Craftycorn had selective mutism. Due to her having hooves, she can't sign. So her art is the best way to see how she feels in a situation.

Bobby lacks spacial awareness. She will stand on your toes and be confused about it when you point it out.

The Smiling critters, after they start getting along with the Nightmare critters, start coming over every other day. The Nightmare critters will go check on them (and panic a little) if at least one of them doesn't show up by day 3.

The smiling critters were abandoned by their parents and have been living by themselves for a while. They haven't realized it and just think it's an extra long summer break. Their parents had hired others to basically keep the houses stocked with premade microwave meals and basic necessities. No one has realized that the kids live by themselves because they live so far away from a town. The Nightmare critters are in a similar situation, though they weren't abandoned in their house.

Touille introduced Maggie to the concept of bills and money. Maggie almost cried at realizing that everything costs money.

When Simon decides to spend money, he does a lot of research before he does. He wants to make sure he's getting his money's worth, even if that means going for more expensive things then cheaper alternatives. It took him months just to pick a house buy.

Simon spent over three months researching how to make a pool comfortable for both a shark and an alligator. He ended up going with a 50% spring water and 50% salt water mix.

Simon has multiple hoards. His typical dragon hoard, and then two others. He hoards his friends/those he cares about, and knowledge. The basement of the house is just a massive library. After the kids started coming over so frequently, he changed the set up and now has a wall to wall child sized book shelf full of children's books for the kids.
