i love how carmy is willing to blow up his relationship, completely change the restaurant and subject them all to psychological torture bc "this is what you wanted right?"

syd wants a star, she wants a worldclass restaurant and it doesn't matter if she wrecked things in season 1 or if she's green and overzealous or he thinks a star is silly, he wants success for her and it's a non-negotiable.

The end of Carmen Berzatto, the beginning of Sydcarmy

Carmy will regress to his psycho days and even though his heart is in the right place because he’s only doing it for her bullshit star, Syd will not see it that way.

My thoughts after repeatedly watching the new trailers:

She will regress to feeling like this when she couldn't even bring herself to do the sorry sign. That’s why none of the trailers and teasers showed that gesture between them. They will be way past that as I anticipated here.

Because Carmy is gonna go full Donna and not include her in the making of the non-negotiables list

Or in other business decisions, promotional efforts, etc… he will take over the whole thing…

So Syd will feel left out and we all know that is her biggest fear since the get-go (that her father or those who tried to warn her, were right all along)

Because:

She can’t afford to fuck up again, as she confided under the table.

None of that has changed for her.

The one who changed is Carmy, because:

The man who got out of that fridge was not Carmy, it was The Bear.

It's the only way he knows how to survive, getting all psycho-controlling, demanding, overachieving, etc. It's his safe place, no matter how fucked up that is, it's what he knows like the palm of his hand, what he can control, and where he knows he's great at and he did tell us that was gonna happen, it's just that Syd wasn't there to listen.

The catch is that Syd didn't want any of this unless they did this together, as she told her father when he tried to talk her out of it. She said WE, she's always including him or trying to.

and Carmy keeps leaving her aside.

Because failure is also his biggest fear:

He can't afford to fail again either. After all, love is an act of mirroring, is it not?

He still can't forgive himself for what happened that night, for failing her, most of all.

Which will lead them straight to: Syd vs Carmy - Carmy vs The world.

But the menu, as mentioned before, is their silver lining.

My point is: Carmy will probably lose (or fear losing) Syd in the process of getting the bullshit star for her and that will mean he will lose himself:

but when he finds himself again, he won't be just Carmy, they will be Sydcarmy, because they make each other better at this.
