Omg you talked about 2012 TMNT and I suddenly remembered how much of that show I watched when I was younger,,, oh the nostalgia. I don't remember all too much from it now but I remember loving it. I've never watched rottmnt but like. I probably should if it's as good as everyone has been saying it is

honestly i only watched a little bit of 2012 as a kid, i was never super into that style/genre of cartoon so i only watched it if it happened to come on hjsdghj

rottmnt is SO good. it's very very different to 2012 in a lot of ways, but the art and the writing and the voice acting are all sososo good. the characterization for all the turtles is super different as well so if youre used to a snarky Raph and a. well. a Rob Paulsen Donnie. you might not vibe with Rise at first

but thats one of the things i really love about the entire franchise, each version keeps the core concept (four mutant turtles raised by a rat are trained to be ninjas) and most of the characters the same while also all being really unique and having different takes on all the characters. i enjoy this aspect of the franchise to the point that im making my own fan reboots and everything hjksdhg

the main reason i initially watched Rise was because i heard Donnie was really good autistic rep and i have to agree, ive never connected with a character this much before hgjsdhg hes also a really good example of low empathy imo, and i very much feel like my own experience with low empathy is being represented here

the art is something i see people complain about a lot when theyre coming from a background of watching 2012 or 2003, and i definitely felt like the art was kinda weird at first, but it's also so fun and striking and as you get used to it and start picking up on little details it gets better and better

a lot of classic TMNT villains dont make appearances in Rise, and the ones who do are WAY different to the older versions, but they also have a whole ton of new villains who are super cool and compelling as well (Draxum and Big Mama my beloved <3)

the movie can technically be watched as a standalone but i highly recommend saving it til youve watched both seasons because HOLY FUCKING SHIT. THE EMOTIONS. the scene that always makes me cry probably wouldnt hit me the way it does if i didnt have all the background of the seasons

notes on where to watch though: netflix has season 1 and the movie, but i dont actually know how to legally watch season 2, and the site i used for it unfortunately shut down so i can provide links :(

I think the main reason why I love movie lloyd as much as I do (there's numerous other reasons) is that the contrast between him and show lloyd is so funny to me I gotta smile-

Show lloyd- "I'm the prophesied chosen one who's trained to defeat the overlord since I was 10. I'm overpowered and literally nothing about me is normal. "

Movie lloyd- "BRO IVE ONLY BEEN TRAINING FOR 3 MONTHS AND I GOT SCHOOL IN THE MORNING!! WHAT DO YOU MEAN I GOTTA FIGHT A SUPERVILLAIN!?!"

Show lloyd is 100% loyal to his destiny and movie lloyd is realizing he's not built for this after he gets beat up by one of garmadon's goons at 2am on a Tuesday morning. A semester of physics class and a dream is all he has.

My brother: I'm not autistic, I'm Batman. (No, I cannot remember how we got to this point, or what he meant by this, but he said it.)

Me and my mom:....

Me: You are aware Batman is one of the characters people tend to interpret or headcanon as autistic... right?

My brother: *scoffs* how is Batman autistic?

Me: He is bad at understanding and communicating emotions. He created a whole persona to fit into society, aka masking. He is so obsessive that he needs to have everything planned out and have contingencies for everything, and not knowing something makes him feel so uncomfortable that he needs to figure it out as soon as possible. (I listened a few other things I can really remember right now.)

From here, he started saying he was loner Batman and that Batman is at his best when he's alone, that his family makes him weak and vulnerable.

I bring up how the Lego Batman's movie's entire message was about how family makes you stronger. His response? That the Lego Batman movie is a "joke" so non of its messaging matters...

Okay, then I bring up in Batman vs TMNT they only won because they worked together.

My brother: Batman would have beat Shredder on his own.

Me:... he literally didn't, though. He lost their first match, and he only won the second one because Raph (I think it was him?) managed to knock off Shredder's helmet.

He kept trying to school me on Batman, on my hyperfixation, when I'm the one that's seen and read more Batman related media and has rewatched the two earlier mentioned films SEVERAL times.

He's the one that first brought the movies up and tries to tell me I'm wrong about my two favourite films when he's only seen each like once, like bruh.

Ok guys, I don’t get the hate surrounding the trailer for the new Superman movie AT ALL ?

The casting seems really great. I KNOW that they changed the actors. However, I’m not sure that keeping the same actors makes sense when DC is literally making a reboot (so the DCU). Should we really let nostalgia cloud our jugement ? They’ve even added Krypto into the film and I’m sure the relationship between Clark and him is going to be super sweet.

We cannot criticize a movie that isn’t even out. So yeah, I actually am excited for this film.

(Still, Christopher Reeve will always be my favorite Superman- I mean Clark Kent ofc.)

If Dick were to die, Bruce would completely break. He wouldn't just stop at killing villains - hell no - he would start killing heroes too.

All that's going through his head is that no one deserves to exist if Dick is gone.

And knowing me, I will always gladly provide the evidence.

In the comics when Dick got shot, Bruce's world imploded.

He felt such a strong rage, he kinda lost it. He flew to another country, defeated assassins, and trucked through the freezing blizzard in Russia to get to KG Beast.

Commissioner Gordon offers some hope that maybe Batman knew but Commissioner Grogan - he just says maybe. I don't know, it's possible but - to which Gordon just stays silent. They both know what happened and what Batman did but confirming it out loud? Batman's not supposed to kill.

So Batman left KG Beast to die but Bane? The one who ordered the hit? He-

He. Punches. Gordon.

He hurts his friend and ally. The man who helped him the night his parents were murdered. He punched for his pain over Dick.

This is where it all connects to the Superman vs Batman movie. If Dick were to die, Bruce would kill his own allies in the end. He would raze the world to the ground.

In the comics, Dick's death is the turning point for Batman (2016). After this he enters a series of nightmares where his brain turns a nightmare of Selina dying to be exactly reminiscent of what happened to Dick, and even though Dick lived, Bruce can't let that go. Then the fight with Bane who targeted Dick solely because of his importance to Dick, and then the Joker War where the Joker tried to use Dick because of his importance to Bruce, and the Gotham War where Dick thrashing him was Bruce's breaking point from his toxic self and finally self-realization.

Damian once said Dick leaving to become Nightwing caused Bruce to lose his moral compass, and that's even more true now. He's breaking enemies and allies left and right just because Dick almost died.

Imagine what would happen if Dick really did.
