ok so. jack was denied physical touch for all of his life, and the newsies aren't really big on it. jack sought out physical touch through playful slaps and shadow boxing, and flopping his arm over someone's shoulder as inconspicuously as possible.

Davey sees straight through it ... and he lets jack do his thing. lets jack shadow box him and rub his shoulders and offer to give him back massages and beat him up out of love ... because he knows jack needs that kind of validation ... (meanwhile jacks thinking he's the most inconspicuous guy ever)

so when jack starts gravitating towards davey, davey takes that as a success . jack feels safe around him ... and davey knows, especially regarding jacks past, that this is a feat. to be this close with jack, who only ever let his walls all the way down around crutchie ...

and when jack confesses thag he has feelings for davey, Davey can't help but celebrate on the inside. sure, he's had feelings for jack for ages too, but davey takes the greatest joy in the fact that he is one of jacks few safe people ....

SO. While blorbo-modding I stumbled over something (that is probably known already but made me all giddy and validated in my cyberware headcanons rn xD).

I think it's a more-or-less popular hc that Kerry is deaf af and has some kind of hearing implants. And I always hc'ed the little golden pieces behind his ears as connected to that in a way (be it just fancy decorative covers for maintenance access for the hearing implants or actual touch-based volume control for example - to mute Kovachek whenever he's talking too much again, for example).

BUT NOW looking at the actual mesh and such in wkit it looks like the golden lines on the outside of his neck are actually supposed to be connected to the bits behind the ears (and I can't unsee it now aaahhh, but I also like the broken-up look). And like. I can see how that would happen, with the body and head/neck being separate parts and Kerry in general having some clipping going on here and there. But also, I've always been a little annoyed at the clipping bc it didn't make sense, why would this little part clip so weirdly in such a triangular shape when it's supposed to end right below his ear... well, cause it's not supposed to end there but actually continues?! What to make of this info now (and also, forever gonna be debating now if I want to "fix" this by restoring more of a look like in the left picture or editing the mesh to get more of the "vanilla" look with the gap between - cause I think otherwise it might clip with his lil music note thingy, which I'd be sad about xD).

But also, no matter what I do, I'm feeling so validated in the hearing aid headcanon that can be synced to a microphone for monitoring BUT intead adding on sth new: the hearing implant is directly connected to his voice box implant, making this whole piece of tech capable of built-in monitoring during concerts :3

it would be suchhhh a switch up from his usual demeanor with you. but the second you see his eyes darken and jaw tick, you hate yourself for how excited you get.

you never try to piss him off, genuinely, but when he comes in still seething after a nasty hit that caused him to lose it and swing on the guy, earning himself some penalty minutes, it’s hard not to.

when he lets himself get mad, he just wants to be mad. so of course, your coddling and soft voice while trying to comfort him pisses him off even more.

“for the love of god, can you just shut the fuck up for once? i don’t care if it’s ‘all going to be okay’ or if we ‘still won the game,’” he’d mock your voice, the shock from the sudden outburst reflected in your wide eyes. “i’m pissed the fuck off because it was a cheap move and i wish i could’ve gotten more of a hit on him before they stopped play.”

you don’t know what to say, battling between letting yourself tear up at his hateful outburst or letting the sight excite you and travel straight between your thighs.

“i-i’m sorry. i was just trying to-“

“i don’t care what you were trying to do. i swear, people act like i can’t ever get mad, but i’m fucking mad!” he takes off his beanie, throwing it across the room. “what don’t you understand about that? i’m pissed off. i’m angry. i’m irate. and i just want people to realize that and leave me the fuck alone!”

“well, if that’s what you want, then i’ll go out and get us some dinner, leave you to yourself for a little while,” you squeak out, finding it harder and harder to keep your mind from wandering to explicit places.

“i really don’t care what you fucking do right now,” he barks at you, dismissing your presence with a flimsy wave of his hand. “go talk to someone else about something you don’t know shit about.”

you walk out of the door, knowing you should be upset at him for his harsh words and behavior, but you also know he’s just frustrated and once he cools down he’ll be back to regular quinn. all you can think about, though, is that maybe you should go see a therapist, because that was one of the hottest things you’ve ever fucking seen.
