So... been cooking ( ͡~ ͜ʖ ͡°) DAI-esque Solas, I've missed you.

I wonder if Solas meant to be in Lavellan’s dreams. Like sometimes, sure. But the first time? I doubt it.

Their souls are crying out to each other so loudly that they find each other in the Fade. Solas refuses to get to close but he also doesn’t immediately leave. He stays long enough for her to see him. He stays long enough to allow himself to be acknowledged, to allow himself to be seen. As much as he needs to see her, he wants her to see him too.

Then I think about the way they look at each other in the reunion. Solas literally has to move his head to get himself to look anywhere else. He can’t take his eyes off her. And she is ever gently, carefully getting closer. Gently, carefully touches just his hands, while Solas is taking her hands so eagerly into his. The timid but no less loving greetings these people give to one another. Holding hands, to assure and to accept.

And then Solas looking at them like he can’t believe he’s holding Lavellan’s hands. Why is she doing this? Doesn’t she know how wretched and awful he is? Doesn’t she know what kind of place she’s volunteering to abandon her entire life for? And then they kiss and Solas gives just the barest little dip of his head, nuzzles her cheek with the tip of his nose. There’s an almost “wait I’m not quite done” pause for a moment, but Lavellan pulls back because she doesn’t want to overwhelm an already overwhelmed man, and he pulls back too because he doesn’t want to make her do anything she doesn’t seem entirely committed to.

And then the shoulder touch she gives him. And if you’ve seen the fly cam stills, the “is she coming?” side eye that Solas lets himself have. He doesn’t turn his head. Too expectant. Demanding. But then her hand comes to his shoulder and I have to think he gave a little sigh. She meant what she said. But then, she always did.

And then all the yearning, the being pulled together by the Fade, gets to be brought together within it. Forever.

I’d love to see fanart of Solas comforting Cole in a fatherly hug. Cole’s large hat has been removed by Solas to allow him to draw him close, and it’s now dangling behind Cole’s back in Solas’ gentle hands as he hugs him close. Solas’ chin rests upon the top of Cole’s head while he holds him until his fears have passed.

I adore their friendship and how Solas looks after him.
