I saw your tags and I can share some inside info! There wasn't any request for specific guys, just for an interview with BC members during Qstock and what the interview would be about. When it got OK'd it was Joel and someone else from the band who were supposed to do it (no idea who the other one would've been) but things changed during the festival, probably cause Joel and Niko did the Kuumaa feature. Somehow Olli and Aleksi ended up doing it instead and the poor things didn't even know for who and what the interview was about until just as it was about to start 😂 So you know just your usual BC chaos 😂

And I get it, doing press around touring is a nightmare at the best of times, so I figured it must be just one of those "Who can do an interview right now?" without much more thought put behind it.

charm and stickers have been ordered!

I've ordered 30 charms & 30 of each sticker(60 total). I've never sold anything before so I plan on opening an etsy shop to make everything easier!

Thank you to everyone for the super helpful feedback with everything. I held a poll on instagram and a grand majority preferred a blue background for the charm!

The charm will be 3 inches, two-sided with a translucent blue background, and the stickers will be 2 inches and regular vinyl. Vograce takes at least a week or two to double check everything, so I probably wont have the product ready for a while.

introducing the shipname blue hydrangeas for me and my f/o…!!! a little rambling about the decision under cut as well and well. in the tags

with the different vivid colors of hydrangeas, each come with their own special meaning in flower language as well!!! i think it’s very important to keep in mind when researching about such language is that they can be different between cultures/not all cultures have the same meaning for a flower (it’s super duper interesting to me that going through victorian era(?) flower language books have hydrangeas in general noted as ‘boastful’ with how little seeds it gave compared to how much flowers it has… and not only that but men sent it to women who rejected them to imply their frigidity, which. is so mean actually.).

blue hydrangeas i believe they’re not seemed as the happiest kind of flower with being given as an apology (stemming from the japanese myth) but i mostly see the flower for its meaning of deep gratitude and understanding which absoluutely applies to s/i (or. well. me but i’m too embarrassed to use the word ‘us’ uuumm) and f/o…!!! sincerity i think is a meaning the flower heavily carries as well and being true to someone like that and having that kind of connection really is what the highlight of their relationship is with what both have been through and stand for. f/o is not extremely trusting, and being laid bare open to someone like that is very unheard of to them until they have s/i in their life and slowly develop a sort of closeness towards him. s/i is somewhat similar to f/o but different in a way that their honesty is quite warped when it comes to people (i’ve mentioned him being a sunshine type of character but there are layers to that, in the way that he finds his truer and more negative emotions irrelevant and keeps the sunshine mask on as he grew more used to it & finds it much easier basically) so the type of relationship for the both of them where they can genuinely be themselves with their guards down is something really special

in a way both are extremely grateful for each other as well for walking into their life and wouldn’t have it any other way

Ino watches him watch Mariko leave YakiniQ and informs him, "She's way too motivated for you, Shika, don't you dare."

Chouji slows in his chewing in order to listen better, but doesn't stop.

Shikamaru just blinks.

"What."

"Mariko. Don't get me wrong, she's totally starting to fill out now that she's hit her growth spurt, and probably you like talking to someone that can keep up with you, but she like, cares. Were you listening to the conversation at all? She just convinced you to do extra work. She's a girl with goals, she'd break your little heart. Plus, I'm pretty sure she's going to end up taller than you." Ino finishes the last of her water glass with a sort of tidiness to the action that implies she thinks she's just made a very profound point.

"Mariko-chan's nice," Chouji protests through a mouthful of grilled beef. "And I thought you were getting along now."

"Finish chewing before you speak, Chouji," Ino snaps. And then she frowns. "I'm not so sure she is all that nice."

That grabs his attention. "Oh?"

Her glance to him is irritated, but Shikamaru raises an eyebrow to emphasize the prompt anyway.

Ino huffs. "It's not like I think she's a mean person or anything," she says snippily. "We're not in Academy anymore, she's not so bad even if I do hate that holier-than-thou attitude she puts on. I trust her with my back in a fight. But someone can be all goody-two-shoes and kind and mean it, but still manipulate you. Being nice doesn't mean you aren't shrewd. And Mariko's kind of ruthless."

And it's like he's been waiting for that specific adjective because Shikamaru sees it: Mariko is ruthless, especially with herself.

Still, he's not entirely sure that it's a turn-off; it's a bit like watching shogi played out in real life. Mariko has a sort of oblivious efficiency to her, unruffled by virtually anything, and surprisingly easygoing, no matter how many snide complaints she makes to the contrary, and she's even a bit of an idiot sometimes; but she's also possessed of an adamantine will that allows her to pursue exactly what she wants no matter the cost.

He's already met her as an opponent in the Chuunin Exams. He wonders now, though not for the first time, what Mariko would be like on the other side of the board from him.

grant is, like, negative picky. the only thing he doesn't really like is any kind of tea but he'll drink it if you give it to him and every once in a while, for a very special flavor, he'll approve of it. maybeeeee not like it but at least tolerate it more than usual.

so yeah!! he'll eat anything, he does not care. he enjoys cooking and baking, it's all very relaxing for him, and he likes trying new things.

however, probably large in part because he never got to eat anything fun as a child unless he was far, far away from his mother (who only ever served "rabbit food"), he does gravitate to classic american comfort cuisine as his favorite foods! stuff like macaroni and cheese, pizza, etc. he might be the #1 mac and cheese stan worldwide tbh

🍔 [BURGER] what would your OC put on their burger?

the absolute dream combo for him would probably be like standard burger patty and bread with sauerkraut and swiss cheese, maybe a fried egg for funsies, too

i truly believe grant is much, much tougher than people would at first give him credit for (or even than he would give himself credit for...)

he's been through a lot in his lifetime and he can be very critical of himself for having developed mental illness, a chronic physical illness, and for struggling with addiction in the past because he feels like it's all his fault and he wasn't strong enough to make it out "normally" (there is no normal, i just think he would use that terminology against himself). but the reality is that survival AT ALL is a huge deal and is worth celebrating, and he's very resilient to have gotten to the place he's at in life now. was it fair that he had to be resilient? no, not even remotely, but in a way, he had no choice.

so that said, i think as he's gotten a better handle on healing throughout his 20s and now 30s (yay!! we just had his birthday last update in the story!!), he's become much more unshakable. social situations are his weakest area - for example, it took him a long time to stand up to his ex and tell her to get out of his life, and it is going to take even longer for him to work out the situation with his father and confront him one way or another.

NOW what is he really good at?! handling emergencies! if you're in a car accident, he's the guy you want to be in the car with you at the time because he won't break a sweat dealing with it. he's very mechanically-minded and good with logic and problem solving, so any emergency is not even slightly going to bother him because he does know he's good at those things. he trusts himself completely as long as he can use those skills. plus, he has many years of experience in compartmentalization lol.

we could also think about his previous job (that he's attempting to get back now) here. aviation is very safe for the most part, but you have to be chill about any kind of crazy ass events happening as a pilot because the stakes are ridiculously high. grant has an advantage in the chill factor, though, because on any day of the week, he'd 100% choose flying an airplane that's on fire or literally falling apart over being in the same building, not even the same room, as his mother. in his mind, he's dealt with much worse.

yeahhhh, it's raising your voice at him. you don't even have to yell, you can just barelyyyyyy raise it and his eyes will at least get watery. he can handle honesty, he can handle bluntness, but not anything with a tone or yelling 😥

and i think everyone knows because his emotions always show on his face. in this case, he'll get that kind of twitchy look and his face will look like it's just been completely drained of life
