Thanks to artfight, I’ve finally finished a detailed, official dbhc cub reference! :D
(I’ve put his Artifight description below the cut, which has a more detailed explanation of his timeline, lore, and aesthetics! >:3)
-ˋˏ ༻ ❁ OVERVIEW ❁ ༺ ˎˊ-
Name: C.B.F.N.4000 (Cub)
Pronouns: He/Him
Species: Android
Height: 5’9’’
Associated Visual Themes: vex, ghosts, explosions, mischief, scientist aesthetic, potions, potionmaking, sleepy/tired aesthetic, conspiracies
-ˋˏ ༻ ❁ ABOUT ❁ ༺ ˎˊ-
CBFN4000 is an au version of MCYT Hermitcraft’s Cubfan, set in my DBHC (or Detroit Become Hermitcraft) AU! This au is inspired by the 2018 game Detroit Become Human, but not because it really has anything to do with DBH—I simply yoinked the android mechanics and incorporated them into the world of Hermitcraft. It began as a S8 au, and has roughly followed the hermitcraft timeline up to the present!
Cub was the last android made during Season 8. While many of the hermit androids were made at the beginning of season 8 and a few were made for season 9, Cub was finished and activated mid-late Season 8, around the time when Hermits started noticing the Big Moon. Cub’s model ended up being a sloppy experiment in deviation, as Doc suggested they try to transfer deviancy to an android upon activation to try and avoid traumatic situations that might cause an android to deviate violently or upsettingly, such as Etho’s, Tango’s, or Mumbo’s experiences. While this went relatively well initially, it clearly wasn’t very thoroughly thought out, as Xisuma (who is normally so adamant and detail-oriented when it comes to assuring the androids’ safety with experiments like this) wasn’t truly himself due to external manipulation and mostly left a relatively young-deviant Doc to carry out the project himself.
Cub, though adjusting to sentience rather well at first, very quickly became wrapped up in the Big Moon happenings on the server, new personality and inexperience to emotions like fear and ignorance completely overwhelming his young system. He became obsessive over the implications and consequences of the Season 8 Moon Apocalypse, joining the Mooners and spreading his conspiracy theories religiously throughout the server as he descended into madness. The insanity was like a virus to his programming, pervasive and all-engulfing, and Cub’s final attempt to free himself from the Moon’s impact with the Earth—to launch himself on a llama into space via potion-powered TNT(insane btw)— left his hands and feet singed and cracked to ruin.
The experiment, considered a horrific failure by a deeply shameful—and more awake—S9 Xisuma, left Doc and Xisuma with the decision to reset him for the new season, and they ended up pairing him with a hermit like they had done with the other androids until they had found deviancy enough to pursue their own projects. So, at the start of season 9 and fresh after a reset, Cub was paired with Scar. Naturally, because Scar is… Scar, Cub deviated almost instantly after being given to him, and very quickly adopted the iconic lazy, stoic, amused attributes normally associated with Cubfan. Scar’s tendency towards mischief and general shenanigans grew instantly on Cub, and the two were an immediate inseparable pair. So much so that when Scar began rambling one day about his Season 5 Hermitcraft Shenanigans (where deals with the Vex may or may not have been involved), Cub immediately stated he was interested in being in on it. Whatever “it” means. It’s unclear if Cub also made a deal with the vex or became connected to them in some other way, but… well, he got Doc’s help to trick out his eyes, hair, and back to best fit the part. Scar is very jealous that he can't magically make himself have the same features to match.
Cub is closest with Scar, but he gets along just as well with any of the other hermits! He’s close with Jevin and many of the other redstoners like Etho and Doc, who are the other two androids I’ve put on artfight!
-ˋˏ ༻ ❁ EXTRAS ❁ ༺ ˎˊ-
Cub's eyes can light up in the dark, and he’s the only android who has edited his programming so that the default state of his LED is white, not blue. It still will go yellow and red if his processors are working particularly hard, but he’s replaced the blue setting on his LED with white to better match the Vex vibe. Cub has all of the vibes of a fae. If that’s anything <3

I'm thinking abt that pretty fall leaves embroidery pattern post and about how like... it is categorically a repost, it's a reupload. right? a thing that is generally disliked. but because it's credited, it's genuinely boosting the artist in question.
and it could ALWAYS be like this. reposting content could ALWAYS be a symbiotic relationship, but because sourcing back to the original creator of something is so uncommon, it's just easier to ask people not to repost it at all. and people still don't understand the difference. or they'll go to the effort of cropping out usernames/signatures to repost something, which is More Effort than literally crediting the creator of something you liked enough to want to repost.
Like. I literally don't actually care if my own shit gets reposted, you have to understand. I just don't want it STOLEN. But "do not repost" is easier to write on my art than "you can repost this, but don't alter the image/remove my signature, don't you dare write 'credit goes to the artist' because that is not credit, please link back to my original post or someplace that you can actually find me. please use an actual link/url instead of writing a non-clickable link of my username, because making it text instead of a clickable link cuts the number of people who will go to the effort of visiting my own page in Half."
All those aggregate themed accounts, those fuckin annoying as hell instagrams and facebook groups that are like "body positive art we love wamen 💕 hashtag feminism" and then MASS-STEAL plus sized art created by women, if pages like these that always go and steal my older self-portraits and other works... If they just put a link to my prints of those pieces in the text of those posts, or, fuck, my commission info page? I would literally be living on the moon right now. I would have a house on the moon

it's not like my BEST BEST art, but I really wish to get more fraction here and get the lore going :p but maybe anyone noticed that I deleted the lore posts, as I think they are necessary on my blog.
I think that for now there is no point in adding these type of posts on my account
Anyways, Irmes didn't use to wear veils all his life... He used to be the polar opposite of what he is now.. And he used to actually dress... also differently. Wow what a weird thing seeing him so covered LMAO
And at that time, Krystallin was his best friend and they were developing Dorianat together :pppppp
If You remember, in the past I posted Krystallin's first design

imma bully you and remind you of the architect bones >:3c
BREATHES A WORLD-WEARY SIGH AND PULLS UP THE MODELS
Lumi, my friend, my fellow beast among men, you know exactly what you bring.
It is at long last time to “Discuss” this wretched thing
Let’s start from the bottom and work our way up, cause I wanna get the worst of it out of the way. The fucking,.. Legs. Here’s what we see in-game;
Technical flaws aside, this is pretty normal and reasonable. Three main segments per leg, articulated toes on the front, hoof foot in the back, an almost standard digitigrade setup. This would be fine, if not for the fact that half of those joints don’t actually exist
There are two segments excluding foot bones
I’m assuming that ball in the front legs is a knee
Solid bones in the toes
So uhm,… yeah basically;
And this is before I mention that these aren’t actually connected to the body! THAT’S RIGHT BABY!! THESE THANGS FLOATIN!!!
So, when Al-an says “primitive ball and socket joints”, I must ask him back! Compared to what, buddy? Miss me with that whale vestigial hind leg bones shit. Your hips are useless and your weight is supported by nothing. Also why so many holes. I hope that’s for like, internal wiring or whatever.
EXHIBIT B, RIBS AND SPINES
The lower back is all one solid bone
That is just a human spine. We know personally how bad this shit is at supporting vertical weight. I’m experiencing those effects right now.
Is this ribs anymore? I’ll call it frame. The chest frame is, again, solid. A very rigid structure, there’s no movement in there. Not quite as bad, considering they don’t have lungs (at least not in the same way we do) but still bad for mobility. Looks cool tho, I guess
Back to something worse now, arms! Hands!! Shoulder blades!!
Not the worst elbow joint tbh
Forearm bones are fused. Again, no movement. They cannot twist their arms
No wrist bones. The hand is a single solid bone. The thumb/claw is also one bone
Now what’s going on back here? Is that a collarbone? Connected to the neck and fused with the shoulder blade?? What is that spike?? I have no idea what this would do to the movement range of the arms and shoulders. Presumably bad things. Also that big bit coming off the top is the shoulder… handles?
And finally, the skull. It’s easily the least egregious part of it all, honestly I like it a lot, save for the thick as hell neck bones. Why are they… So Large. No idea what’s going on with the skull-neck joint tho, cannot tell if it’s good or bad. Definitely weird to me at least.
Skull pretty cool. I’d hazard a guess and say the main brain isn’t up there and it’s all sensory stuff so a lot of holes is fine (also they put armour on top of the head), and the ‘face’ is very interesting. Makes me wonder if they had vertical jaws. Of all the things to be solid bone, the horns were the last thing I’d expect (they are semi hollow tho), and the prongs give me moose vibes. Also the whole thing sits farther back in the head than I thought.
So yeah that basically sums it up. Their legs fucking suck and the rest is anywhere from ‘why tho’ to ‘sure I guess’. The way Al-an moves ingame should be impossible for him and if this skeleton is actually cannon in its entirety then man must have some extra Secrets. And if there’s any architect skeleton defenders in existence I would love to hear from you.

potential sonic 3 spoilers incoming if anyone cares. anyway . apparently there was an official survey about the knuckles show/scu in general and one of the questions was about what name you would use for an eggman/shadow/gerald teamup. which is a weirdly specific question. and also one of the name options was team dark …….. ?? even though rouge isnt mentioned in the question and theres no sign of her being in the next movie in general ? i was willing to accept amy being introduced a little after knuckles and tails but between there still being no sign of her being in the next movie and now this if they actually have gerald time travel or something and have him be the third member of the dark story trio instead of rouge then i will be fully convinced that theyre going out of their way to exclude as many already existing girl characters as possible. like i get cgi is expensive which could be part of the reason rouge might not have made the cut. but damn . assuming this is real anyway it could just be another fake leak but idk

Decided to check out the audio drama Fawx & Stallion this weekend and GUYS... guys this show is SO FUNNY. I couldn't stop laughing for the first three episodes straight.
It's the story of some wannabe detectives living in Victorian London. Specifically, they live at 224B Baker Street, just across the street from a certain pair of decidedly more famous detectives--and they're sick and tired of having all their potential cases scooped by Sherlock Fucking Holmes. Luckily for them, while Holmes and Watson are out of town looking into some matter about a dog, a new case comes along and drops--by default--into our would-be heroes' laps.
And just who are these aspiring crime-solvers?
Hampton Fawx: detective and gentleman. What he lacks in common sense he makes up for with raw theater-kid enthusiasm.
James Stallion: gentleman and detective. A loyal friend and companion when he's not being a self-important arse. Runs on approximately 20% gin and 80% spite.
and finally Madge: neither gentleman nor detective. She's just been stood up by her date and she's going to make that everyone else's problem. She'll agree to help on this case just for the Drama.
It's a hysterical romp so far. A lighthearted farce set just offscreen from Holmes' own capers (for now!). Our main trio lacks even a single braincell to share between them, but by GOD they're going to solve this case and I'm going to be cheering them on the whole way there!
From what I can tell, new episodes are typically every other Monday, but the show's on a short hiatus for the holidays, to return in 2023. The first five are currently available to listen to, though, and I highly recommend it!

That conversation between Devinder and Jacob about Dev being inspired by Hansel and Gretel's breadcrumb trail for his Translocate device (plus his planned heart-freezing gadget) has really pinged something in my brain in the best way. It's so simple to take it as a sorta silly thing, with a dismissive "oh ha ha it's just a kid's story" and the like.
But for me, it feels like a way to show that he really Gets It.
Stories have power. It's typically more metaphorical, in that they help us internally process and understand ourselves and the world around us. They can be a way to pass on so many types of information via oral traditions. They can change how someone looks at the world. They can save lives. Long or short, silly or serious, they're transformative. They're a social connective tissue.
But Dev harnessed that power in a more literal manner. One way to approach how he did it is also fairly straightforward—that he simply used these stories as the inspiration for incredible invention(s). Which is fantastic, and good on him for using such a creative springboard for his gadgets! (In contrast, some of the alpha-vampires used local Redfall legends as their names, trying to leverage that power for themselves. They were able to use it against the locals for fear-based manipulation, but the powers they have were stolen from the Gateway, not from borrowing those names. The fae these fools are not.)
But then—and this is swinging around to Secret-World-Legends-flavored shenanigans—you can also approach how Dev used the power of stories in a deeper, more bizarre and magical way. Certain stories, certain tropes, might sum up certain "rules of the universe" that we haven't been able to scientifically quantify yet. (Sort of like how stuff such as "toast always lands butter-side down," or "you're always going to forget to pack something you need on a trip" can feel like they're unwritten "rules" of How Things Work.) It's taking the phrase to mean that stories sometimes literally explain the world around us—we just need to figure out how. And Dev's been able to pluck out some of those "rules" that have been stitched within longstanding stories, and figured out how to harness their implied power via gadgets.
It strikes that sweet chord in me of "art as magic"—or art as magitech/gadgets, in this case.
Stories have power, sweetlings.
Tell yours.

FusionFall Headcanons: Petroleum Punks
Similar to the Tank Terrors, the Petroleum Punks were only really able to appear in the Future due to how long it took to take over fuel resources in urban areas in order to create them. Also like the Tank Terrors, these fusion monsters can carry a lot of fusion matter within the core of their bodies, it being made primarily from a gasoline barrel. While they can’t carry around as much fusion matter, they can move much faster due to their long, springy legs similar to an ostrich’s.
Given the emphasis that “they run on fossil fuels” in their description, the Petroleum Punks are more likely to explode from leftover/exposed fuel residue than the Tank Terrors. Caution is advised.
These monsters utilize long range attacks, using their gas hose/nozzle “arms” to fire streams of fusion matter at their enemies in any direction with ease. If needed, they have a single, giant claw on each of their feet to attack with at close range. They also have two, short tusks for this, but they are much harder to land any damage with since a fusion fighter would practically have to be right in their faces to use them.
While the Petroleum Punks are as aggressive as any other fusion monster, their tactics are more evasive than most. They prefer to keep back and shoot from a distance, then run to another safe location before attempting to strike again. It’s very rare for them to approach an opponent, only doing so if the enemy seems too weak to lash out. Attempting to chase after them is likely only going to wear on your own stamina due to their insane speed, so it’s best to attack them in an open area where they can’t dive for quick cover and stay light on your own feet. Nanos capable of stunning them are very useful.
Despite their speed, their biggest weakness is their legs, as they’re made of flexible, wooden beams. Damaging one of the legs or the springs connecting the calves and thighs will maim them, preventing escape.
While it’s a much harder target to hit, they only possess one eye take can only face forward. This eye does have the ability to act as a scope to zoom in/away from objects in its view, but they have to turn their entire bodies around to see in other directions. A stealthy fusion fighter could potentially sneak up on a Petroleum Punk from behind because of this.
