Oh I knew this would trick someone up lmfao, it's not Durgetash! But it's such a good good title, I might have to steal it if I never end up posting the fic

It's a fic for the visual novel Touchstarved (WHICH IS COMING OUT SO SOON NOW!!!) featuring @sithrightsactivist's OC Maurevar and the LI Leander, with my OC Ophalia lurking in the background of the fic. Ophalia and Leander are together, which Maurevar is desperately unhappy about as he does not trust Leander in the slightest. This has not stopped him from having a weird hate-fuck sort of situationship with him

The fic has Maurevar going to Leander's room at the inn, and Leander miraculously lets him see him in a moment of weakness and vulnerability instead of putting up his usual bravado, and Maurevar ends up helping him shave - hence, the blade at his throat. During this profoundly intimate moment, they have their usual cockfight over who is better suited to take care of Ophalia and her demonic curse - hence the blade at your heart.

It's mostly finished, but I haven't posted it because obviously the full game isn't out yet and I'm gripped by a profound fear that I'll fuck up Leander's characterisation immensely going off the demo content and wanted to wait until the game was released. And I may just steal the title for a Durgetash fic after all lmfao cause I really like the title!!!

1. song of the year?

okay this is so hard bc i was not on my music shit like i should’ve been this year. if we’re talking just songs that came out this year it’d most likely be one of the songs off of short n sweet bc i listened to that a lotttt this year, but if we’re just talking in general, it’s probably something like unchained melody or maybe leather and lace??? i listened to those a lot this year, and they’re some of the first ones to come to mind.

4. movie of the year

is it a cop out if i say wicked? like it was so fucking good?? i sobbed the whole three hours in the theater?? i also watched secretary for the first time this year, which i feel is notable, and i feel like my most rewatched movie of the year was most likely the force awakens, so i’ll bring that up too.

19. what’re you excited about for the next year?

i’m honestly really excited for all of the personal growth i have in store. this past year/year and a half were incredibly rough for my mental health, but i’ve been making strides to overcome things and improve myself. i also have some exciting things happening at work, so there’s much to be excited for!!

Oh look, it seems like there's a Republican-led movement to purge voter rolls in the lead-up to the election! It's almost as if your vote matters and they don't want you to vote! Anyway, I whipped up a quick map (based on this) that shows when the voter registration deadline is in each state. There are a few deadlines coming up in the next week or so.

If you live in a state that regularly purges voter rolls for infrequent voters (the orange ones in the first map), or if you moved recently, it's good to check if you're still registered to vote.

Vote.org makes it super easy to check your registration: https://www.vote.org/am-i-registered-to-vote/

Just put in your address and DOB and they'll tell you whether you're registered. (And they give you a quick link to register online if it turns out that you're not! Only the 9 states in white on my map don't have online registration, and for those they provide instructions on how to do it via mail or in person.) If you want an extra verification, find your state's election website and double-check there.

So yeah, give yourself peace of mind -- do a quick check. :)

i turn 24 today. To celebrate, I made this comic to be a spiritual successor to lead balloon, a comic in which I talked about the darkest period of my life so far.

A lot has changed since my 23rd birthday and this one. My priorities have shifted a lot, in ways that I think are mostly good. But i think the best part about today is that suicide has gone back to being a far away notion. I'm really lucky, and I'm grateful for that.

Hot take and not to be a killjoy or the shipping police but people treating Viktor or Jinx's aroace headcanons as if they were canon is not the revolutionary take people think it is.

Headcanons are always all right but we have to acknowledge that they are somehow damaging when they apply to stereotypes. It might not be the case for everyone but most of the time people unconsciously assume that disability/mental illness=asexuality. These headcanons erase the freedom of attraction from people who are already seen as unable to have sexual/romantic experiences/desires, when it's completely untrue and harmful.

You can headcanon Viktor and Jinx as aroace, but I have seen people changing their minds once Viktor is no longer disabled (s2 with all of his other forms) and Jinx is no longer as mentally ill (alternate universe Powder). And it speaks wonders of how people see these characters.

"I never thought about Jinx being able to feel romantic/sexual attraction until s2!" To believe she's actually only capable of that when she's not "damaged" is incredibly disturbing. Especially since Jinx has always had a bit of a flirty personality too.

"I've always seen Viktor as asexual, I don't know why!" That's fine. You can headcanon him as ace. But I believe there is a reason behind it, most of the time, if for some inexplicable reason the "vibes" of the disabled character are making you think he's ace.

I say all of this being aroaspec myself, by the way. Headcanon all you want but going to people's posts commenting how "it's weird for you that they have romantic/sexual plots when they're clearly aroace" is not a win at all. It's a headcanon, after all, and it should be treated as such, and that's fine. But it also is damaging to spread stereotypes like these.

Of course the disabled character is asexual. Of course the mentally ill character is aromantic. It's not as revolutionary as you might think, tbh.

Fandom is not activism and it's all right to have any headcanons you want BUT some of them are filled with damaging stuff and perhaps we should look into ourselves more before treating these assumptions as something canon.
