Chan - mutual adoration

I feel like Chan would go crazy over the fact that someone actually is head over heels for him, which in turn makes him head over heels for you.

“Awh thank you Channie, I love you so much” you said before giving him a quick kiss. “Here, i hope you like it” you spoke again, winking playfully towards him. He carefully untied the red ribbon that was laced around the box and removed the lid. A handwritten note was on the top. ‘Happy Valentine’s Day! I will never find the perfect words to tell you how much i love you but i’ll try always try and show you’. Around the note was a bunch of handmade paper stars each one had a little heart on. Nothing could be heard but a sniffle from your boyfriend. “Chan? Don’t cry yettt, you haven’t even seen the main gift”. He didn’t need to see it, he already had the greatest gift he could ever wish for. He had you. “i love you” he muttered. “You better, we’ve been together way to long for you to not love me” you joked, trying to lessen the noticeable tension in the room. Chan held you hands and turned his body to face yours. “I mean it y/n, i love you and i don’t think i’ll ever stop love you”. Brown eyes scanned your face, waiting for your response but you couldn’t speak. You couldn’t or you would definitely cry, whether it was out of happiness or just complete love. You were eternally grateful for meeting him and so was he.

Minho - (fake) one sided love

Minho is (as usual) a major tease whenever you show him just how much you love him but as much as he denies it, he loves you more than anything else

Your heart dropped when your boyfriend completely forgot valentines. Only muttering a confused “oh? valentines?” when you excitedly told him ‘happy valentines’. How could he forget the day meant to celebrate love? A whole 24hrs dedicated to romance and relationships? Truth is… he didn’t forget. Honestly, he swears he felt his heart break when you tried to hide your disappointment in him ‘forgetting’. Sometimes he wished he didn’t have such a huge soft spot for you (and your adorable smile), since it meant he couldn’t surprise or tease you without feeling a little guilty. As the day went on he continued setting up his surprise while trying to make sure your mood wasn’t too sour. By the time the sun had long set and the sky was dark, you had barely spoken to Minho, feeling somewhat in between sad and angry. “Y/n, can you come up to the rooftop? We need to talk” Minho spoke from the bedroom door. You slowly put on some jogger bottoms, an oversized hoodie and a coat to protect your lessor from the chilly temperatures. Once you reached the rooftop, your almost leaped out of your chest. It was heavenly. A projector screen was front and centre, illuminated by a compilation of clips showing you and your lover. On the table was a big basket full of your favourite snacks and drinks. “Oh, Minho im so so sorry I totally thought you forgot and when-” Minho was quick to cut you off “it’s fine baby, sorry I made you feel bad”. You guys watched a movie off the projector then rushed to the warmth of your home, both of you feeling full of fondness for eachother.

Changbin - flustered lover

He swears he never gets shy/flustered but the second you show him any sort of affection he can’t help but turn a little red and try to hide it

“I’m not blushing, it’s because I just finished working out” Changbin explained hurriedly, even though you both knew he was lying. He was always like this whenever you expressed your love to him, whether it was PDA, little notes with ‘i love you’ written on, clinging onto him in your sleep or (like today) gift giving. You had gotten him a couple of gifts, a huge Badtz-Maru plushy, some cookies and brownies from Felix and a couple other things you knew he would really love but you didn’t expect this reaction from him. His face was red and his eyes glossy with tears. “Baby? Is this a good or bad reaction?” You spoke, slightly panicked. You wrapped your arms around him, pulling him into your warm body. “It’s- I’ve never gotten a gift like this” his sentence was broken by his sniffling. Taking a deep breath he continued “i love you y/n, your all I could ever wish for”. You felt your heart ache at the sudden confession “I love you too Binnie” you whispered, petting his head and seeing that he was blushing deeply. “To the ends of the universe and back” you whispered, quiet enough that he probably didn’t hear but he did and he felt the exact same way.

Hyunjin - classic v-day

If romance was a person it would be Hyunjin. This man will shower (or drown) you in all his love and won’t take no for an answer

“Morning, my love” you heard your Jinnie speak softly. “Here, i made you some breakfast” he continued as you sat yourself up. Carefully, he placed the tray on your lap. The plate had heart-shaped pancakes, their sweet smell lingering in the air. A bowl of your favourite fruits was alongside it, the assortment of colours making some sort of rainbow. After the delicious breakfast, he confirmed that you guys were still going out for a meal later in the evening. Once the evening had finally arrived, you both had gotten ready. You were wearing one of your favourite dresses and Hyun was wearing a suit. As soon as he saw you he couldn’t keep himself away. He either had his hands on the small of your back or had his lips wherever he could reach. “Jin~ your going to mess up my makeup” you said with a fake pout. “Sorry angel, you look too good” he mumbled, moving towards you neck. You guys ended up being a little late for the reservation since your boyfriend kept making up excuses to get you to kiss him. Eventually you guys made it, the restaurant where you first met all those years ago. Filled with nostalgia you pulled in Hyunjin by his tie and softly kissed him. “See, I knew the obsession wasn’t one sided” he chucked, wiping your lipstick off his lips. “How could I not be obsessed when I have the worlds best boyfriend right beside me”

Felix - romantic overload

From gifts to massages to day-long trips, Felix makes sure to show you how much you mean to him. There won’t be a moment where you’ll feel unloved

You didn’t expect much for Valentine’s Day since you knew your boyfriend would spoil you all year round regardless. So when you told him not to get you anything and that you wanted to treat him like he treats you he was a little taken aback. But that only meant that the next day he could spoil you to his heart’s content. “Lix, oh my fucking gosh” you gasped as he handed you a box with the luxury brand ‘Prada’ printed on it. It didn’t just stop there tho, “babe, let’s go spend the day out” he said casually but you KNEW it wouldn’t just be that. As you pulled up to a huge hotel with a pool just to the left, your suspicions were confirmed. “Felix, your truly going to be the death of me” you half screamed. “I love you too y/n” he responded. The whole day was packed with different activities, leaving your muscles a little sore. “Lixieee~ can you give me a massage” your body hurting in muscles you’ve never noticed before. “Let’s go to the spa instead!” He said, grabbing your hand and pulling you up from the comfort of the bed. When you guys returned from the most relaxing spa experience ever, you couldn’t stop hugging and kissing your lover. “I wish I could show you how much I love you Lix, your my angel”

Seungmin - surprise

Acts completely clueless and nonchalant until the day comes. his hearts racing and he can only hope you’ll love what he’s prepared

You woke up to your boyfriend softly shaking you. “y/n wake up, someone’s breaking in”. You half asleep mind couldn’t process what your boyfriend was saying “huh, break in?” you muttered as you started making your way to the front door, hands rubbing your eyes. “yeah hurry” he spoke, basically dragging you. Suprise. Once you got there you saw a trail of rose petals leading to the kitchen. “look! they left a trail, let’s follow it” Seungmin observed enthusiastically. You tried to tell him it was way to early for this but didn’t want to ruin his good mood. As you walked into the kitchen you saw a huge array of breakfast. Pancakes, fruits, toast, bacon, scrambled eggs and other foods spread across the table, most of them heart themed. “oh my gosh” now fully awake you wrapped your arms around your boyfriend, pressing your lips against his. Quickly making your way to sit down and putting some pancakes onto your plate. Seungmin comfortably sat opposite you, nervously waiting to see if you’ll like it. “Is it good?” he spoke anxiously. You quickly replied even though your mouth was full, “Is it good?! Min, it’s incredible. Thank you so much”

Your plan had been in motion for a really long time now. The tickets to the aquarium and their animal crossing theme experience had been booked a month in advance. The outfits inspired by your favorite villagers were already prepared and hidden away so Seonghwa wouldn't find them and ask you about it before you could surprise him.

Your boyfriend had been working hard at his newest job, it had been hard and sometimes very emotional and it had been very clear that he was stressed, more stressed than you would have liked him to be.

So as a way to get him to relax and have some fun you'd surprise him with this. He was a big fan of Animal Crossing, he could sit hours on end playing that game, creating his island, designing clothes and finding the villagers he wanted to have around.

You enjoyed it as well, perhaps not as much as him but seeing the indescribable joy on his cute little face whenever you surprised him with something related to said game had made you commit to knowing more about it.

You had first in secret bought the game and played it on your own switch, wanting to be able to share his joy on a deeper level.

The look on his face when you asked if he wanted to visit your island for the first time had been so cute, his eyes looking big and shiny and the wide smile was something you wish you could see every day.

And hopefully you will see it again today when you give him his surprise.

Looking down at the letter containing the two tickets you hurried into the kitchen and put it down next to Hwas cup which you filled with coffee as you heard the front door open.

"Hi sunshine! I'm back!" He called as he took off his jacket and shoes before walking in wondering where you might be.

"In the kitchen! I got a little surprise for you!" You let him know as he takes you into his embrace.

"A surprise? For me? Why??" He looks at you curiously with a smile on his face causing you to give his cheek a quick kiss unable to resist.

"Well you've worked so hard at your new job and I thought you deserved a little treat where we do something very fun together." You tell him as you lead him to his seat and to the envelope.

He looks puzzled before carefully picking up the letter.

"Open it." You encourage him as you take a sip from your drink.

He opens it carefully and starts reading:

"My dear sunshine, you have been working so hard at your new job. It's been perhaps a little bit more of rainclouds and storms than sunny days and happiness these few months. You've powered through so hard and I am so proud over you. Today will be a day of fun and joy as we dress up as Flurry and Sasha." He let out a little gasp at the name of his two favorite villagers as he glanced up at you quickly before continuing. "As we go to our local aquarium for an Animal Crossing themed date and experience their Animal Crossing experience! Where we will be able to meet characters, enjoy snacks and beautiful scenery together."

He looks close to tears as he looks up to you.

"Is this true?"

"Of course! I wouldn't be that cruel getting your hopes up just to crush them! Come on we gotta get changed." You say with a wink stretching out your hand for him to take it.

"Thank you!"

He muttered over and over as he pulled you in for a hug, feeling overwhelmed with happiness that you had organized something like this for him.

You patted his back gently, enjoying the hug and allowing it to happen for as long as he wanted to.

After a while Seonghwa broke the hug and took your face into his hand staring at a you adoringly before pressing a kiss against the temple of your head, mumbling a thank you again.

"You're welcome sunshine, now come on we gotta get changed! I got some outfits inspired by your favorite characters." You tell him as you take his hand gently leading him to your shared bedroom.

"But what about your favorite characters? Don't you wanna dress up as Antonio or Molly?" He wonders and you shake your head

"Nah it's okay, plus we could always book tickets again and go as my favorites next time, but today we're going with Flurry and Sasha."

You let his hand go and hurries to find the clothes laying them out on the bed for him to see, the red fluffy shirt with flowers on paired with some jeans and a cute little hat just to complete the outfit and a blue grey jacket, a pair of black jeans and a cute beanie to go with it.

It was the closest you could get to finding clothes like theirs so while it wasn't a full on cosplay it was at least clear which characters you two were dressing up as.

Seonghwa took some time choosing between the outfits until he settled on dressing as the first villager he had gotten in the game which was Flurry.

After you two had changed and already taken some cute pictures in the outfits you hurried out to the aquarium. Hwa was almost vibrating with excitement from it all.

Luckily you only lived 10 minutes away from the aquarium so getting there before the line became too long was no biggie.

"I'm so excited!! Who do you think we will see today?? Can we take loads of pictures? Oh! and did they have snacks or desserts??" He rambles on looking at you with his big round eyes and a wide smile.

"Someone's excited I see." you chuckle before continuing "I'm not gonna spoil who we get to see and all of that! I want it all to be a surprise for you love."

You almost laugh when he starts pouting and whining about how he'd wanna know now. He swings your hands back and forth as you scan the tickets at the ticket desk and you notice his eyes sparkle when the lady working at the ticket desks gave the two of you some special lanyards with the characters on it.

"Wait we get goodie bags as well?" He gasps after you two have picked up your goodie bags as you enter the aquarium, marveling at the way they have decorated the place.

"Yeah isn't it awesome?"

You sneak some pictures of your boyfriend. He looks adorable looking around in wonder at not only the real fishes in the aquarium but at the new decorations. Filming and taking pictures as he spots a cute little photography area rushing towards it and immediately starts posing for you.

"Look at you! You fit right in!!" You gush as he gives you some poses before urging you to switch places with him.

"Now give me some poses!" He guides you through the poses he'd think look cute and you fight the feeling of embarrassment as others walking past the two of you look on curiously.

Hwa seems to pay them no mind continuing to take photos and guiding you before he bounds up to you, wanting to take some selfies together.

It was a struggle at first, figuring out how to hold the phone so the two of you and some of the background would be noticed and working through poses as he just snapped a bunch of pictures.

There were poses with your hands at your cheeks creating hearts, pouting, making ears on the top of your head with your hands, laughter and smiles and some sneak kisses on each other's cheeks.

"Do you want me to take some photos of the two of you?" An older gentle man asked as he was passing by noticing the two of you trying to figure out how to get some pictures of all of you.

"Oh that would be really nice of you if you'd help us." You two told him and showed him quickly how to take the pictures on Hwas phone.

The older gentle man took some pictures of you two which ended up being your favorites from the day. His photos had been normal candid photos that in your opinion really showcased the love between you two beautifully.

After thanking the man the two of you had continued your way down the aquarium. Enjoying the view, snapping pictures here and there.

"Look! I've caught that fish in the game!!" He points at a random fish saying very proudly that he had caught it, doing the little pose you do in the game when you've caught something.

"My little fisherman!" You say poking his cheek and he's just about to respond when he glance over your shoulder and gasps causing you to raise your eyebrow before turning to look at what hes staring at.

"It's Tom Nook and Isabella!!" He gasps at the characters walking around taking pictures with people.

"Let's go! We should get some pictures with them! Before we go to the cafe to enjoy the desserts!" You drag him over as he looks starstruck.

"Hello! We would want some pictures if that's okay?" You ask the worker and he nods taking your phone to take the pictures.

Hwa is the first one on the little platform with the two characters, grinning and playing with the two characters. The two of you poses with Isabella and Tom Nook and at the end of the session you two get to hug them both and your boyfriend acts adorable around them.

"I love seeing happiness on you. You always look glowing you know." You tell him as he gushes on about how cute they were and how much this day has meant to him so far as the two of you ventured towards the café within the aquarium.

"Find a seat as I go get us some desserts sunshine!" You tell him and he finds a seat near some animal crossing decorations, waiting as you go and order some drinks and themed desserts.

As you two sit and enjoy the desert you can't help but ask: "Have you been enjoying today?"

"I have! This is honestly one of the best presents ever. Thank you. Genuinely thank you. I am so lucky to have you in my life who cares so much that you'd fix tickets and clothing and everything for this experience. Not everyone would have. I truly love you so much."

The smile on his face was worth all the time you had put down for this experience. Finding the clothes had been the hard part and seeing him enjoying the day the way you had hoped he would made you so unbelievably happy.

"You're very welcome sunshine. I'm glad I could bring you some extra joy." You say before the two of you continue to talk about the day and what's left to explore together.

The contrast between you and him is like day and light, and when you both come strolling by weather that be passing by the local convent shop. Or making a quick stop to a store that’s peeked your interest, eyes were bound to wonder. Your personality peeked his interest, I mean who could be this kind and caring??, no less to just some normal people who haven’t impacted you in any significant way. It just made him…confused? (-∀-💦)

The way your kind eyes stared at him Tugged at his heart in an alarming (at least to him) way! The blush that spreed across his face the first time you gave him a sliver of kindness was to much for him.

Your cheerfulness always brightened him up especially after tough interactions with glam. Railing up and you being the only one to comfort him back to his collected self. And even if he doesn’t vocalize it he is very much grateful <3.

It’s not like his teachers, just thanking him for being the only knowledgeable student, but instead asking more questions to learn more about the topic, and really see how much he knows. And though he doesn’t like being bombarded questions he deems stupid, when it comes to you it makes him like seeing the shock and awed look you give him. Can you blame him? Not only is it adorable but he likes showing off in front of you.

He would rather be dead then admit this but he loves the way you smell like strawberry, he would take this to his grave before admitting this he finds it embarrassing ( =ω= )

Let’s you do his eye shadow only because of how delicate and caring you are with it, you always make sure to take your time so you don’t hurt him little moments like that is what he absolutely adores about you!

I feel like he gets easily flustered by physical touch so whenever your get happy just by seeing him and hug him you can look up and see him red as a strawberry (≧◡≦) ♡

Whenever he goes shopping in the off chance he has some money to spend after he’s done grabbing some clothing he always makes sure to drop by your favorite store. Weather that be a cute accessory story, or a small bakery you might have said you enjoyed, either way he always makes sure he has left over money. So whenever he has a bag filled of random darkly colored clothing only to walk into a store and buy you some pink clips for your hair you can imagine the cashiers surprise. Dee though a bit embarrassed doesn’t care much it’s worth seeing your bright smile at the small item.

Heavy absolutely ADORES you! Literally bouncing off the walls when you come walking in with his brother. He was at first taken a back from how much polar opposite’s you and Dee are but quickly got over it after realizing how sweet you are!.

Heavy definitely teases Dee jokingly before running off after Dee’s had enough you get to sit as you see them bicker you find it amusing but always make sure to help Dee calm down! ( ´͈ ◡ `͈ )

Secretly has the same perfume brand you use and sprays it on his bed or around his room at night because it reminds him of you and comforts him but I didn’t tell you that! (▰˘◡˘▰)💦

He gets jealous easily especially when everyone gets so quickly comfortable with you cause of your inviting personality, he dose poorly to hide this but also hates being called out for it especially by his brother.

But just by you hugging him and saying comforting words makes it all go away, you just know how to make him melt in the best possible way.

Hi everyone! This week has been kind of crazy, but I haven’t forgotten. June’s a fantastic month for many different reasons: Pride, end of the fiscal year, for some it’s the end of the school year. But, there are many things to be thankful for.

I will start with, a MASSIVE thank you to @autism-purgatory , who made me fanart of Peter Hart that I am still gushing about and showing to my husband. I've finally returned to the world of the living as I have graduated from college to become a free artist and again be a member of the Snowbaird society!! ò0ó Can’t believe it myself if I'm quite honest

But yes the last three months I was heavily busy with my final projects and could only occasionally post content, The capitol and District AU suffered more from it as I like to plan every artwork through with lore and details.

But one good thing came from it, the GOOSEY GRAY AU! One of the greatest things the tbosas fandom has ever witnessed don’t deny it u know it‘s true. The silly goose and her duckie husband will stick around! 🪿

I have also been working on a three-chapter one shot called ✨ Deep in the Meadow ✨ based on the three-part artwork of Clementine and the Fireflies, getting supported and coached by my silly little author Fwiendo @spoomed there will be lots of momma Lucy Gray and clementine content and a dive into their relationship!! coryo is also allowed to be there if he behaves and eats his veggies

🗨️ PERFECTION 💯 This was so fucking incredible, I don’t know where to begin… I love Jin in this, he’s so fucking funny charming, sweet, kind and witty. He’s so him. The dynamic between all of the characters was amazing, and the tension and unresolved feelings between oc and Jungkook was so fucking good! I loved all the jealousy too, and then the fading of the jealousy. When things shifted for oc, how Seokjin helped her, and in that, she fell for him 🤧 Such a lovely Christmas story! The tension is perfect and I love the slow burn 🥰 I feel this was also a bit on the existential side, which I really love. Like the dialogue had me thinking about my own life! I love when that happens! And it was so fun reading about siblings, and I’m missing my own baby sister right now. Anyway, it was exceptionally good! Amazing! 💯 And there’s a mention of Jungkook’s glazed potato incident you can’t miss! It was so fun (both this and the run episode 😂). Can’t recommend this one enough!!

Since our litte Otter got stary eyes right? which means the eyes glow right? what if idk, at dead at night someone like Neuvillette or Furina(whatever character you prefer!!) get something to drink or to snack on, and at the dark hallway, they can see two glowing eyes staring at them at the dark, ofc they panic, is that a freaking intruder??? then slowly the glowing eyes move to the lights and out reveal themself, ✨Otter!!!✨ the character sigh in relief cuz, archons, thank god it wasnt some intruder!!

Idk this seems funny to me! cuz Otter scared them by their glowing eyes!

A scream startled Neuvillette awake from his rather peaceful slumber.

Waisting no time, he jumped up and ran towards the sound of who he assumed to be Furina. Vision glowing with power, he was ready to attack whatever had caused her fear.

Bursting through a door, he found the girl on the floor surrounded by water and broken glass. She was shaking as she pointed down the hall.

Looking down, Neuvillette’s eyes met the glowing eyes of something he couldn’t see in the dark. Both had a stare down as he inched forward towards a candle, the matches right beside it.

Flicking the match and lighting a candle quickly, he raised the candle in the direction of the beast.

And when light covered the hall…

Both were met with their darling Otter standing at the end, a fish in hand and halfway in your mouth.

“Ah. “Oh.” Furina quickly stood and dusted herself off, coughing into her fist in embarrassment.

“Well, uhm… thank you for coming, Neuvillette! This was a uhm… a test! Yes, a test. To… err… ensure that you would uh.. come when I call. And you have passed. Alright good night!” And with that the Archon ran off down the hall, and into her room. The sound of the door slamming echoed through the corridors.

“… Then I suppose you will be spending the rest of the night with me, ma moitié?” You chittered in response, fully stuffing the fish in your face before running over to the man.

“Very well.” Neuvillette picked you up as you munched away, the stars shining in your eyes. He sighed before smiling at you.

“Goodnight, my dear.”

🎄Santaphale Au collection🎄

Hello! ive had this in my draft forever now and its DUE TIME to make this and post it since ive gotten questions about the au and while i make art theres amazing other creators that has helped built it up in the sandbox and while i make art theres (as of now) three fics from the same universe posted on Ao3 that follows Aziraphale and Crowley in different points in their life. ------

For those that are wondering- the short introduction to it is that the Santaphale universe began over on discord with a handfull of friends that banded together to spin up an elaborate and extensive story featuring Crowley (she/they) around her late 30s in the beginning of the story and down the line she stops aging around her late 40s/early 50s and becomes immortal along with Aziraphale (he/him) , who (looks to be) around 50. He is of half human/elfin nature that makes him a cryptid of his own right with the power he weilds as The Spirit of Hope Through Darkness, Guardian of Childhood Wishes, the God of Winter Gifts, king of the northern elves, also called Sinterklaas or Santa Clause (Thank you salt for that perfect row of titles ) They met on a Christmas night when Aziraphale visits Crowley’s home while delivering presents and after a passionate night, departs after giving her a silver bell with summoning magic to ring if she wants to see him again. Crowley goes to bed, then wakes up thinking it was all a dream til she meets a familiar face a few months later and cue a lovely romance! They later come to live in the North Pole for the second half of every year, and eventually they end up having a small bunch kids that they love and adore and the art and fic follows this entire journey and so much more.

Spending New Years with TBB

Author’s note: I wanted to post this yesterday but I’ve been very busy with my family, as it’s been our last chance to spend the holidays together before I move back home across the country. I hope you enjoy it though! Also apologies that Crosshair’s is shorter than the others. I wanted to get smth down but my mind went blank, so this was all I had 💀

Echo:

“This is nice,” Echo breathed out, relaxing back against the blanket and cushions you’d arranged. The holo-movie played out in the background, a documentary you’d picked that you knew Echo was a fan of, and the two of you were snuggled up in bed with a bowl of mantell mix between you, as well as a bottle of bubbly that you’d nicked from a mission once. That was yours- Echo’s choice of poison was a joint, which he lazily smoked. It’s smoke drifted about the room, catching the neon lights of the street through the window. Whenever you looked at Echo, the smoke cast dusty pinks, purples and yellows over him.

It wasn’t that you knew Echo didn’t like fireworks. In all honesty, he didn’t mind them- being around Wrecker had him more than familiar with loud explosions. Rather, you were certain he’d start his new year in a relaxed state. You couldn’t recall seeing Echo relaxed enough times, if ever. It was time to set that straight.

“This is nice.” He repeated.

“Yeah. Are you feeling that yet?”

“What do you think, mesh’la?”

You laugh, the effects of the champagne you’d stolen weaving through you.

Echo laughs too. “You’re drunk.”

“No. I’m cheery.”

“You’re drunk and I’m high.”

“Astound observation, my dear.” You snigger to yourself, thinking you’re rather witty, and take another swig of your glass.

The room falls quiet, the only sounds being the movie that plays and the muffled pops of fireworks outside. Multiple moments pass.

“Hey,” Echo murmurs lazily. “It’s new year.”

“Hmm… people kiss at new years.”

“I guess we have to then.”

In the lowlight of the room, his lips somehow find yours. You graze your thumb over his cheekbone as you kiss him, something you’ve always done. He smiles into your lips and pulls away, resting his forehead against yours.

“This year will be good. I know it.” You whisper, determined to make the year a good one for him.

“With you next to me, it’s bound to be.”

Tech:

It was growing increasingly difficult to ignore him. Tech was flitting about the roof, rather haphazardly you thought considering it was a rooftop. You weren’t sure what he was doing, but whatever it was it involved lots of wires, tubes, and he often muttered under his breath as he sat there and twiddled with the machinery. You approached and placed a hand on his shoulder, wakening him from his stupor.

“Tech, love, what are you doing?”

“I believe this is what they call a surprise. So respectfully, go away.”

“Gee thanks. Is this safe?” You asked, used to his blunt responses.

“You and I both know nothing is ever safe. I could be carried away by some manner of creature any moment now, or a meteor could come crashing down. Although, that’s unlikely since this planet has not had a meteor shower since-“

“Tech.”

“Right. To answer your question, I am making this safe, hm? Go inside, entertain Omega.”

“But-“

“Go.” He shooed you back to the door of the roof, and promptly shut it behind him. You knew better than to argue with him when he was focused, and so you followed the stairs down the building to the ground floor.

It was late evening when Tech dragged you back to the rooftop. His gloved hand was warm in yours as he led you to the setup he’d been working on all day. You weren’t sure what you were supposed to be looking at. The first reason being, it was too dark to really see anything other than vague outlines and shapes. The second being, the outlines you did see looked exactly like the wires you’d seen that morning, which in your eyes, looked… cluttered.

Tech activated a button on his keypad, and the rooftop awoke in colour. Neon lights lined the edges of the building, and they also patterned the floor too, in places. You saw a shooting line to your left. When your eyes followed it, you noticed Tech had put up an archway around the door of the roof. It shone like the stars themselves,

“…this is beautiful. You’ve been working on this all day?”

“Yes, the wires weren’t calibrated well enough which resulted in the lights sporadically turning themselves off, and so I had to-“

Your lips met his, crashing against him as your arms wrapped around his waist. You felt him sigh against your mouth as he relaxed against you. When you pulled away you gently kissed the tip of his nose, and watched as his ears grew red.

“This is wonderful. Thank you.”

“Happy new year, cyare.”

“Happy new year, Tech.”

Hunter:

“Are you sure this is a good idea?”

“Positive. Civvies celebrate new years, and you’re one of them now, so take a glass and have fun.”

Hunter grumbled under his breath, taking the glass of non-alcoholic fizz that you’d handed him. He was still growing used to life on Pabu, and it seemed one of your roles in your relationship was showing him the life outside of being a soldier. He held his glass in his hand and leaned back in his seat, trying to relax. A thrum was already growing in his head. Unfortunately, you looked so happy as you organised the celebrations for the night that he couldn’t bear to tell you he needed a break.

A few hours later your house was full of friends, the batch amongst them, and you naturally drifted about the room and made conversation with everyone who had come. Too preoccupied with entertaining your guests, you didn’t notice Hunter slip away into your shared bedroom. He shut the door behind him and rested his forehead against it, the cool wooden pane soothing his headache for a moment. Why was new years such a big deal anyway? He’d never understood it, after all, every year was exactly the same. It was always training and sparring, and fighting and patching yourself and your vod up, before doing that all over again. Granted, things had changed once Omega came into their lives, but Hunter still felt… stagnant. Being on Pabu made it worse. Not that he didn’t love living there with you and his brothers, but his fingers were itching to pick up his knife again.

He silently crossed the room and folded himself on the plush carpet beside your bed. The growing ache in his skull seemed to return as soon as he left the door, and he had to push his head into his hands to attempt to soothe it. In his discomfort, he didn’t see the light fall into the dark room before it slithered away again. He heard your footsteps though, and you crouched down next to him. Your hand ran through his hair gently.

“It’s too much, isn’t it?”

You watched as your partner stayed silent, nodding almost imperceptibly. Biting the inside of your cheek, you hastily got up and find the sensory friendly headphones you’d gotten for Hunter months ago, after his first set had broken. Silently you prised his hands from his head and placed the headphones over his ears. Then you crouched and digged his knife out from under the bed, and folded his palm around the handle. All you could offer was a smile and a kiss on the cheek as you left the room. Later, when the fireworks had ended and the guests had returned to their own homes, you found yourself sitting next to Hunter once more. He had not moved.

You tap the side of your cheekbone, indicating if he’s ready to take the headphones off or not. Hunter complies and averts his eyes, ashamed that you had to take care of him.

“I ruined your night, mesh’la.”

“No. Next year, it’ll just be the two of us.”

“…I couldn’t-“

“It’ll just be the two of us. Besides, I’d prefer having you all to myself rather than knowing you’re cooped up in here, uncomfortable.”

Hunter sighed, grateful that you weren’t angry at him for not enjoying the night you’d so excitedly planned for everyone. “What would I do without you?”

“I dunno but I’m glad you don’t have to be without me,” you smile. “Happy new year baby.”

“Happy new year, love.” He kissed your cheek and pulled you close.

Crosshair:

Your fingers smoothed over the paper a final time. This would be the… well, you’d lost count. You tucked the letter into its envelope and pressed a kiss to where the corner of the envelope was glued down on its outside. Then you flipped it over and wrote Crosshair’s name on the back. Another letter to pop into your box of them. Another letter unsent. Finally, you swigged the last of your wine and sat back in your seat, a little dazed from the amount of alcohol you’d consumed.

Outside fireworks went off and you thought of him, of the last time you saw him as explosions sent the ground shaking. You thought of the look in his eyes, those gorgeous eyes you’d always loved so that now looked through you like a ghost. The glass in your hand was quickly refilled. Your holo-pad lit up next to you, messages from friends and family coming through. Creaking, your rickety floorboards groaned under your steps and you took place next to the window, leaning your forehead against the panelling besides it.

Eyes following the lines of colour in the sky, you murmured to yourself. “Happy new year, Cross.”

Wrecker:

The crate plopped down on the sand with a thunk. Wrecker though, hadn’t even broken a sweat.

“That’s the last of em!” He grinned.

“The show tonight is going to be great,” you stepped over the rocks to join him, and did a mental tally of the supplies.

“I can’t wait. It’ll be nice to just relax for a bit. Can I light one though? I’ll be able to right?”

“I have no doubt everyone will expect you to anyway.”

He laughs, watching your eyes twinkle as you tease him.

Later when the island was cast in moonlight and the beach was full of party-goers, Wrecker was a ball of energy. He usually was, but you’d never seen him so excited before. You guessed had you been a soldier, you probably would’ve done. He dragged you around the place, making conversation with everyone on Pabu, and proudly showed you off on his arm. Multiple times you had to do a little twirl as he held your hand above your head, to show your outfit off. He’d tried to match with the colours, and he dazzled. You weren’t sure you’d ever seen him dressed so colourful before. Eventually the time came for the fireworks show, and he ensured you’d have the best seat.

Not that you were going to argue seeing him in- well, action.

The islanders counted down, 3, 2, 1, and the sky lit up. Great shots of colour shone and burst before you. It was beautiful, but you’d grown used to it. Living on the island all your life, it had become a stunning little norm you took part in every year. This time though, your gaze was set on the man before you. With each firework he lit, Wrecker’s smile grew larger, his face lit up in the bright lights. He turned back to you, grinning. Across the crowd you smiled back, and held your thumbs up. If it were possible, you could’ve sworn his smile grew bigger.

Once the last one was lit, Wrecker ran back to you and picked you up, spinning with you in his arms.

“You really do this every year?”

“Yeah!”

His laugh boomed. “You’re lucky. Happy new year, cyare.”

“Happy new year, Wreck.”

After a brief kiss, he quickly dragged you off to get sparklers. The rest of the evening was spent in a continuous stream of joy. If you were a poet, you’d put it down to the fireworks, but really it was for the man next to you.
