I want to preface that a lot of my observations and feelings stem from my personal experiences, which is why I had said I felt very empathetic. Also, discussions of fatphobia, be warned is all. This turned out a bit more negative, at least in the beginning, than I had originally intended. There's just a lot of experiences and feelings that feed into how I understand him, and that means talking about some less than fun topics first.

There's something about how he presents himself and how he is treated(in several regards) that is very familiar to me. Deep down, he's a very nervous person, he shows this in varying degrees to different people. Oddly enough, he hides it from the people he's closest to. but in a way, that makes sense. if you're used to being in the out group, whatever that may be, you will put up with a lot in order to have a group at all.

His friends very clearly care about him, but there's little things here and there that clearly hurt, things that get brushed to the side. Jokes that, on the surface, are meant to come off as "endearing" or "supportive", but carry a quiet message. One that's hard to pick up on unless you're on the receiving end.

While I truly believe that Jessie and Biggs mean the best, a good portion of what we see when they interact with him is. Not nice. There's a jab about his love life, or lack there of (what's implied to be the reason for that?). There's the way him getting injured was shrugged off (or even the fact that they'd hit him, 'as a joke'. That shit still hurts even if you've got 'padding'). And, in a couple of instances, it feels like they hold him back, like he's going to embarrass himself.

And this all feeds into that feeling of inadequacy that he describes after the parachute fall. He plays into the role of "the funny one", cause why else are they keeping him around? Because clearly he isn't anyone to be taken seriously. This is the one thing about the writing that I can stomach, that there's a clear effect on him from how he's treated. As much as I'd rather he not get treated like this at all. Par for the course, unfortunately.

But he legitimately has so much merit. He's the teams exit strategist, he's an impeccable shot, he's willing to put himself in danger for others even when he isn't the most qualified to do so (Cloud's the fighter for hire, and he took a shot for the guy anyway). It's clear he has a deep love for his community in the slums, and is just an incredibly kind person.

Despite his own reservations and anxieties, he does what he thinks is right, just, with the understanding that it could very well get him killed. He calls himself a coward, he always puts others first to the point he's worried he's a burden, but he truly does so much. And he's very emotionally intelligent, being the only person to see that Cloud actually cared about what he was doing in the beginning. He's just severely underappreciated, and it messes with how he views himself.

I think he deserves the world, honestly.

Also, your 'Amon stays in the CCG and works with Haise' AU is fantastic and should have been canon. Poor Amon misses Eyepatch terribly (he still has QUESTIONS damnit!) but doesn't want to get Haise (or Akira) in trouble, so he can't really say much, but he and Haise get suspicious of the CCG being corrupted. They investigate together, but they have to be discreet and they HATE IT, the CCG is supposed to represent justice! Inner!Kaneki drops hints and nags Haise in the background constantly.

YESSSSS GOD AMON AND HAISE NOT INTERACTING IN :RE WAS SUCH A MISSED OPPORTUNITY TO ME I WAS SO GENUINELY SURPRISED WHEN THEY NEVER DID

In the context of my AU I think Amon would feel so let down by the emergence of the Quinx project. He's spent all this time investigating the CCG's suspicious sides and almost uncovered what they were really aiming to do and then it just gets. Announced, just like that. That they're putting ghoul organs in people to use as weapons. It feels wrong. Everything clicks terribly into place. But he can't say anything. And Eyepatch is gone already (or so he Thinks) It all feels anti-climatic, somehow.

Then he meets this new investigator, who shakes his hand and greets him cheerily. He's being mentored by Akira. They are to treat him as a human unless he loses control, to which they'll treat him as a ghoul. It's Eyepatch. It's Haise Sasaki. Amon has to stomach the thought of both working with him and potentially having to "erase" him if he remembers who he is. He likes Haise, even if he's different from Eyepatch, but Haise might not be around forever, for one reason or another. He's never had to kill a co-worker or friend before. (I think, similar to Akira in canon :re Amon would be assigned a big role in leading squads when the CCG has to keep Haise under control. It only makes sense, he's done significant damage to him before, in half-kakuja form no less, and managed to escape this guy even without a weapon. And he's also like, one of the Only Guys who has ever killed a ghoul with his bare hands before.) Still though, the thought of killing Haise, whether it be with a quinque through the heart or the snap of a neck, is nauseating.

The CCG higher-ups are suspicious, obviously, because Amon is the only one who truly knows Everything about Eyepatch, and he might screw with Haise's memories. They're keeping an eye on him and make sure they don't get too close, unless Amon needs to confront Haise, since Haise, even when losing control, just can't seem to hurt him. Not really at least (if it ever does happen he feels So Guilty) ((Also sidenote but Haise probably visibly winces when he first meets Amon. His head hurts and he's not sure why. He feels melancholic and he doesn't know why. He feels a flood of relief. But he doesn't know why. He likes Amon a lot and wants to get to know him. The white-haired ghoul in his head seems particularly fixated on him, won't stop looking at him. Haise somehow knew Amon's name before he was even told what it was. He surmises that it's just because Amon is so well-known in general. (He knows, deep down, that it might be more than just that)))

Haise has small recollections of memories, but he can't tell anyone, obviously. Sometimes he has nightmares of flower fields and battles under the rain. When he and Amon get closer he tells him a little about them. "It's probably nothing" he laughs, unsure, but Amon knows what they really mean. He sees Eyepatch in Haise and it hurts terribly. He fears the chance that he'll never get to ask the questions he had, almost as much as he fears the chance that one day he suddenly will. The answers he's wanted for so long are so close that they are literally standing right next to him, yet they're so far.

As things move forward they definitely try to investigate and figure out the CCG's corrupt system together. But they have to be careful, on the outside co-workers (including Akira) make comments about how close they are and what a good team they make but within the inner-workings of the CCG they have their careful eyes on them. Maybe Akira's a little weary about it, tells Amon as such sometime and Amon says he knows (but there are things he can't tell even her.) Maybe one time Haise and Amon talk briefly, maybe after or during Haise losing control of himself and he says something and it sounds hauntingly like Eyepatch. Haise had looked at him differently during that moment. His voice sounded different. It was pained, but not in the physical sense. Maybe it wasn't Haise at all, actually.

Haise has a dream once about a man shouting asking him if he really is just a ghoul. Somehow he doesn't feel like it's for him. (But surely it means something to Kaneki Ken). Maybe, like in that comic I drew, Kaneki is incredibly relieved that Amon is alive, but also terribly jealous that all he can do is watch from the shadows LOL

I know in canon, the Substitute/Hologram Professor is a cartoony mastermind of a villain who is one step ahead of Ryan and determined to achieve his evil plans, but in my heart and soul, he is a teenage girl.

He would write in his diary with pink gel pens about how he plans to skin Ryan alive. He would talk on the phone giggling and kicking his feet even though there is no one on the other end. He would listen to Olivia Rodrigo's "get him back!" and think "ME FOR REAL!!!"

This guy is barely a year old. The only reason he acts like an adult is because his programming requires him to do so. But without that? His core self is a hollow shell who could never truly grow up to be his own person.

im very interested in your dnd oc Rhiam, i think its really cool and rarely done to have a trans character actually transition during the course of the game, was it always your intention for her to be trans or did this evolve naturally in the campaign? also i love her design especially the colour pallete with the earthy tones and rich blue accent colours <3

Hi! And thank you because ough I also love Rhiam so much even if (and because) she's my own character 🧡

Rhiam is one of those characters that just starts to live a life of its own, you know? I can plan things for her but some things just feel right or wrong. Because at the beginning I was thinking that "now for a change I'll make a dude character, just a regular humble lad". I think I even said something like that out loud to our DM haha, so it was not planned from the start.

What I did plan quite from the beginning was that Rhiam, coming from the huble countryside, was determined to start a new and less dull life in the city. She wanted to become a proper mage and actually do something with her magic. I think her original plan was to try to become a performer (though she noticed that performing magic tricks to strangers rather than your own siblings is slightly more daunting). So while I didn't know everything about her, I did know that she desired to be something else than a farmer boy. And I knew that she desired to have earrings and jewelry and beautiful outfits. Then at some point we thought with our DM that hmm maybe there's something else besides just not wanting to be a farmer, maybe she desires not to be a boy as well. But yeah, we have also tought that it's funky that it happened gradually and during game like this. I think we got to have conversations and themes we wouldn't have had if I had just made her trans from the start (not that there wouldn't have been anything wrong with that but yeah, this was interesting!) Especially since our group really likes to take time to dwell in little moments and details (for real, our average game session spans over a weekend and lasts mmm around 18-24h in total? with pauses of course) Her final transformation (heh) also happened in a neat transitioning phase as they are currently in a mountain pass between two countries.

Oh and speaking of transformation, I also gave Rhiam alter self spell that she used to try what it would be like to be a girl/woman. And since I have actually made short poems for her every verbal component spell, I used lines that referred to our D&D world's shapeshifting god of the forests Iija Iki-Mettä and asked aid from her. And eventually Iija invited Rhiam to her sacred pond and transed her gender more permanently than what Rhiam alone could do. So I'm now multiclassing her as druid. Another thing I said I wouldn't do since I wanted to try some other class than druid for a change. "This time I will do a man guy boy who is not a druid" I said. "Congrats lil buddy that's the worst anyone's ever done it" I say to myself now (and wouldn't have it any other way <3).

uuh tw for religion and religious trauma (those are like. the main themes here so) also tw for human sacrifices and death. lots of death. and some (very) vague parallels to satanism (not sure if thats really a tw but im putting it there just in case. its only there if you kinda squint tho)

some background info: So there’s this cult called the Church of the Wayward Lamb, which worships Æther. The leader of the Cult is named Father Blackwater. People with animal features are also incredibly rare in this universe(like 1/1000000)

Silas was abandoned by his parents for unknown(to him) reasons. (They were killed by the cult) Father Blackwater ‘found’ him and took up caring for him. When Silas was older he became an official member of the ‘church’. As a member of the church, he was forced to take part in the hunting and killing of people in the name of Æther. (only occasionally, as Father Blackwater tended to keep him incredibly sheltered within the church.) However, due to being a black goat, Father Blackwater planned to sacrifice him to Æther, not only due to his rarity but also due to the symbolism of the black goat.

When the day finally came for him to be sacrificed, Silas’ soul ended up in Æther’s realm, where he met the god himself. Æther decided He liked Silas, making a deal with him to revive him, if he became Æther’s vessel/servant. Silas agreed, and came back to life. Æther took control of his body, killing everyone that was at the ceremony at the time (50+ people). Afterwards Æther made Silas leave the church and now Silas wanders around on the whim of Æther, tending to avoid civilization.

Relationships: Father Blackwater and Silas had a very toxic relationship. Father Blackwater was cruel, constantly punishing Silas through physical and emotional means. Æther and Silas also have a toxic relationship, but in the way that Æther will kill anyone that attempts to get close to Silas in any way to keep him all to Himself. Both frequently manipulated Silas into believing they were the only person he could trust.

Basic Info: Silas doesn’t really have a last name, due to not knowing his parents, but will default to using Blackwater if he really needs one for something. He uses he/him pronouns. He is roughly 5’4.

Æther is the god of death and winter, and in all stories of Him anyone who looks upon him will die instantly(Silas is usually not excluded, he tends to carry a blindfold with him for this purpose.) His liking of Silas was mostly curiosity at first, but now he has grown attached to Silas and refuses to let him go.

Livery Watch: BAR-Honda 05 Concept Car Testing Livery

A second request for livery watch???? brb while I excitedly run around the house.

ngl I do feel like one of those grandma memes of 'Back in my day the teams did testing liveries sometimes! :D' and I get slowly walked to bed while I natter on about the 2015 camo bull and Williams 2014 pre-Martini sponsorship all navy livery.

ANYWAY! I think testing liveries are fun actually. This particular black and grey livery was ran during the 2004-05 off season on a modified BAR 006 which was fitted with the engine for the upcoming 2005 season, and the rear end of what would become the BAR 007.

It definitely gives me stealth vibes, which in a way is funny because there's nothing stealthy about running an F1 car around an empty circuit - unless said circuit is in the middle of nowhere completely isolated from the rest of humanity. But, monochrome liveries are a really easy combo to get right, and I think that a simplified greyscale version of the team's standard livery really works for the job it needs to do.

As we know from how much I love the Mercedes W11, I think all-black glossy liveries are just gorgeous, and the pale grey stripes on the engine cover are just enough of a pop of brightness to not make the livery look too dull, but aren't so in your face that it distracts from the overall look (which the dark grey Lucky Strike logos also work well for) though it does feel a little bit empty in areas.

Honestly? This is a very sexy car. 9/10.

Ok some people asked for it so here is the Fes Kohane analysis. (Sort of a Kohane in general analysis)

Under a read more for being long and also for anyone who doesn't want to see the card yet.

Let's start with the untrained.

There are a few Hammies here. We have our current Kohane front and centre, she looks confident, she's moving ahead. From the background, this Fragment Sekai seems to have a lot of glass buildings. At least I'm assuming that is a wall behind her.

To the right we can see Kohane from the very start of the game. Long hair and glasses, Miya Girls uniform instead of her later jackets and hats. She looks at the current Kohane with what I think is amazement, which is expected. The old Kohane would have probably died on the spot if she learnt what she would be like in a year. This also very clearly shows Kohane's overall journey from a shy girl without a passion to follow to the Kohane we know now, who has a shared passion and is working towards it.

To the right of that Kohane we see one walking in the opposite direction to the present Kohane. This Kohane is wearing the outfit from her untrained for the Power Of Unity event, which ended Vivid Bad Squad's first arc in the events. (It's also her outfit from Period Of Nocturne but that's not the important part here.)

This Kohane walking the opposite direction being further right than long hair Kohane could represent how, at the end of their first arc, Vivid Bad Squad were still focused on surpassing Rad Weekend. It's an event that happened before Kohane found Vivid Street, so she has to go further back to reach it.

The last Kohane is to the current one's left. She is with the rest of Vivid Bad Squad and is wearing her outfit from the Kick It Up A Notch untrained, since An is also wearing her outfit from her untrained card for the same event we can assume this Kohane is from the day of the Crawl Green event.

I can't tell if this is before or after her song, but I would assume it was after. The rest of Vivid Bad Squad being there is interesting, as the only other time the rest of a unit have appeared in a Fragment Sekai (that I know of) is Rui's. I think this Kohane represents her current ability: her performance at Crawl Green was stunning and the best example of her current skill level, however Kohane's inner thoughts during Vivid Bad Squad's group song show that she prefers to be with all of them. The fact this feeling is strong enough to appear in the Fragment Sekai proves this. (She cares for her friends so much I can't I fucking can't.)

The colouring of the glass is also interesting. Long hair Kohane shares the same color the rest of the glass does, but the three triangles where Crawl Green Kohane is are a greenish, pink and blue color each. These colours represent members of Vivid Bad Squad, the pink is Kohane, blue is Toya and green is An. Power Of Unity Kohane has a yellowish orange background to represent Akito. The fact he is separated from the other three like this is interesting to me. It could be because of what this Kohane represents (Akito's second focus) or it could be where each member is focusing on at the current moment. While An, Kohane and Toya look to the future and are somewhat satisfied with where they are currently, Akito is stuck in the past focusing on Rad Weekend and how he needs to improve. In which case Akito's back facing the glass is another point that could link to it.

Anyway that's all I have for the untrained. Let's look at her trained card.

I really like this hairstyle! It's definitely her best alternative one. Anyway, I was incredibly happy when I saw they incorporated her love for photography into the trained. Obviously she is holding the camera to her face, but the video reels as well. I don't know if the pictures in said reels are meant to represent anything, but one in particular did stand out and it makes me think that they possibly do.

This one here makes me think of the Sky Runners set, which could play into what I think these reels represent: Kohane's memories of the last in game year.

Alongside the fact that she is my favourite character, I was really looking forward to Kohane's fes card because, unlike the rest of the cast, Kohane doesn't have a backstory. Everyone else's fes cards tend to use their past to show a strong feeling, but a big part of Kohane's character is that she didn't really feel strongly for anything before the main story. The only thing she really had was photography, but she didn't properly show interest to pursue it until Vivid Bad Squad. A camera is used to capture moments, so it would make sense that, with her ties to it, Kohane would represent those memories through a reel. It also shows how much she cares for the world she has entered since the main story, Vivid Street, the Street Sekai and Vivid Bad Squad all mean so much to her.

I really like Kohane's fes card. She is a character who means a lot to me and I really like all of the touches to her growth overtime, both in character and in her relationship to Rad Weekend and the people surrounding it. Thank you to whoever has read all of this, I will probably add something on once I get to reading the fes card's story. I might do an analysis on Akito's fes card as well (will probably be shorter than Kohane's lmao) because this fes is something I've been anticipating for a while. Anyways, stan the Kohammie.

alone: How does your OC deal with loneliness? Have they ever been completely alone before? How do they act when there's no one around to see them?

Sigrid doesn't feel lonely easily. She usually feels fine on her own, at least she thinks so. She wants to be fine alone. Big groups unsettle her, closeness unsettles her. Yet Sigrid yearns for it all the same, when she's completely alone she gets anxious. She'll scratch her arms, walk around in circles, almost like a caged animal in a sense. But if she's alone, just temporarily, she's fine. She enjoys moments to herself.

betrayal: Has your OC ever been betrayed by someone they thought they could trust? Has your OC ever betrayed someone who trusted them?

Hmmm I don't think Sigrid has really betrayed someone herself. But she's definitely been, and felt, betrayed. Orin, directly honestly. Sigrid really cared for Orin when they were both Bhaal's child, when they were together a lot. Sigrid didn't expect to be... Tadpoled by Orin. She may not have remembered for a really long time, but when she does, it's definitely betrayal.

She's felt betrayed by Karlach, but that doesn't mean she was actually 'betrayed.' Hearing that Karlach accepts her fate whenever they talk of it is like a punch to the gut. Sigrid doesn't want Karlach to die, Karlach doesn't deserve death, and to hear Karlach be okay with her life ending like this because it's with people she cares about in a place she loves? Sigrid understands, but she doesn't want to hear or think of it.

break: What would cause your OC to break down completely? What do they look like when that happens? Has anyone ever seen them at their lowest?

Hm. I think death terrifies Sigrid ironically enough. She feels this imminent dread thinking of her own demise, or the demise of ones she cares about. I think she'd break down if she were gravely injured, begging almost not to die. She wouldn't want to leave the world when she feels she only just discovered herself.

And people definitely have seen Sigrid at her lowest. Act III is NOT a sexy time for Sigrid. Sigrid in has a full on breakdown in the beginning-ish of act III when she discovers she's a Bhaalspawn- staying up all night in a frenzied panic attack. Sigrid's little breakdown buzzcut isn't even necessarily done by herself- she was tearing out her own hair out of stress. And her pacing eventually woke Jaheira, who offered to... help after Sigrid had calmed down enough. (POV: my mom cuts my hair after i tear my hair out during a breakdown)

ghost: Who or what haunts your OC? What happened? How do they live with their ghosts?

Sigrid's past. She doesn't remember everything of course, but the thought of what she has done is enough. She's heard second-hand what she's caused, thousand deaths- cannibalism, necrophilia- it's not the nicest things to hear about yourself. Even if she wasn't in full control it wasn't... not her. It's her regardless of who was in 'control'. She regrets her past life the most. And quite honestly she deals with it by just... talking? Whenever she feels like she needs to she can talk, she writes, she paints. Sigrid tries to forgive herself but it's hard.

hide: What does your OC hide? Why do they hide it?

Sigrid doesn't hide much, but she usually tries to hide the scar on her throat post-game. That scar- and the one across her face- were acts she had done for Bhaal, as a form of worship. Offering blood to your Father, can't beat that. She wears bandanas, turtlenecks, scarfs.. anything that hides it. The one across her face is a little harder to hide.

pain: What's the worst pain your OC has ever felt? Do they have a high pain tolerance?

hmmm.. Probably when she was in the Mindflayer colony with Kressa Bonedaughter. Being cut open and put back together repeatedly over the course of several days, during which she was unable to speak or do anything but attempt to inflict violence on herself or others, was not the most pleasant time to say the least.

Sigrid does have a high pain tolerance, but she isn't... happy about that. Gods only know how she built that tolerance.

skin: How comfortable is your OC in their skin? Do they grapple with anything that lives inside them—a beast, a curse, a failure, a monster? How do they face the smallest, weakest, most horrible version of themself? Are they able to acknowledge it at all?

Ah, Sigrid hates her body at times. In Act I she felt detached to it, like it's a vessel that acts against her thoughts. She doesn't want to acknowledge anything was wrong, because why would it be?

In Act III she definitely still grapples with herself, she acknowledges her past, that her body is wrong in a sense. She was brought back and came out wrong, but not worse than she was before. Sigrid can't think of herself at her worst days, but tries to improve on her best.

Okay so !!!!!

They first meet in a really...non ideal way, with Jonah almost dying after being careless and falling off a cliff, but luckily Melaine was nearby travelling with a couple other doctors. It was a less than optimal situation, but they help him back on his feet. I'd call it love at first sight but the most he saw was just a blur of a lady asking him questions so he didn't pass out, so I'll say it was destiny instead. They were both 18ish and real stupid <333 They started bumping into each other way more after that, and at some point began a little friendship in the wastes. Jonah flirted with Melaine first but never really made a move on her, or even tried to get her to flirt back. It was mostly him joking around and using the worlds cheesiest pickup lines for fun. She thought it was charming however and started actually flirting with him. So now he's just like "🕴🏿augh." [Not actually as smooth as he seems and cannot for the fucking life of him take what he dishes out]. It was just a fling for that moment though, since Jonah was too busy thieving and running around from bandits and Melaine had her patients to care for, so their relationship ends up on the backburner.

When they're in their early twenties though, they finally make some time for each other and start getting more serious about everything. Jonah gets injured in minor ways to go see her in the new hospital she works at, and although she knows he's being reckless and stupid for that, it's reckless and stupid in a charming way <3. She's so obsessed with this weird little freak who keeps coming in with the weirdest injuries just to see her again, and she starts doing the same by meeting him out of the hospital in his outposts and other work spots. . . Until she sees him badly injured in said work spots and goes fucking apeshit. Legally as a healer She's not SUPPOSED to hurt anybody with scalpels, but hey, just try to fucking stop her while in stabbing range. Her insane combat skills make Jonah swoon and sigh dreamily. She's so passionate about everything, and the fact she can take on so many people at once without breaking a sweat, leaving them all alive on the ground but unable to get to her, all while having that murderous rage in her eyes... it just leaves him like [Heart eyes] uehehe. Oh doc you're so cool ♡ [bleeding out].

She scolds him for being reckless and almost dying while patching up his wounds [again] and he's just. So lovestruck. Now that he's seen this other side of her and it drives him kind of crazy. I feel like one of the best ways to describe Hades/Kanon to begin with is that, both parties are trying to manipulate one another, like crazy. Even though they aren't on equal grounds, by any sense of the word (Kanon doesn't believe [or is unable to comprehend] nor learns the fact that the hot goth guy, he has been having flings with, truly is what he says. Whereas Hades has been threading his fate to disasters, since day 1.). They are both constantly going at each other's throats.

And despite this tomutouls and convoluted bond. Hades still is the only one who offered Kanon, any resemblance of comfort and affection (prior to the relationship falling apart, Saga was the only one who brought him any form of solace. [Hi, I don't subscribe to the fanons about Shion taking the mantle of good dadTM to the twins]), during a period in his life where he practically only had himself. He kept seeking him out, he knows very well they were far from being anything genuine. It's hollow, it's an act.

But, amidst his ignorance (and perhaps desperation, out of his loneliness for so long], Kanon felt like he could lower his guard while in Hades' arms.

yarrow: he'll usually wind down beforehand with a book and a cigarette (only allows himself three a day), but the exhaustion of being the only doctor in town and not really having days off puts him to sleep pretty quickly

grimm: i don't think it actually has much of a routine, but it does have to check that wrench (robot coyote companion) is alert to watch it's back while it sleeps

yarrow: flexible, has seen firsthand how people in power can bend laws around them and get away with horrible shit other people can't

yarrow: tbh i need to think more abt yarrow's past bc they don't have any Tragic Backstory like grimm does. while they don't actually miss living in the large city like they did in the very beginning of the story, occasionally they'll get lucky and find one of their old favorite snacks from when they were in school, and how it reminds them of days spent cramming for exams. the memories are fond, but they don't miss it

grimm: seeing traveling caravans of performers come through town makes them ache for the family they used to have. until the age of ~13 or so they performed in a traveling band playing the violin/fiddle, but an accident left them and a few kids as the only survivors so it's all very bittersweet. yarrow found them a violin they'll occasionally pick up

What were they told to stop/start doing most often as a child?

i haven't thought enough abt the specifics of grimm and yarrow's childhoods to have a clear answer but i can tell you they often have to tell their adopted child lucy to stop eating the bugs she finds (she's an eight-year-old ringtail humod so she has a typical child impulse control alongside an instinctual drive to eat bugs hdgklhf. she'll be fine)

they absolutely both swear, yarrow more than grimm just by sheer volume of Talking More. i don't think either would remember their first one

yarrow: being a doctor and all that, yarrow's definitely comfortable talking abt sex in the clinical sense to their patients. when it comes to personal matters it's. he has some issues. not trauma or anything so much as the mortifying ordeal of asking someone to do something for his own sake (he's got a sort of complex about doing enough to be "worthy" of things like asking) in addition to just like, having mediocre sexual experiences with other people (not fully bc of the prior point bu that doesn't help). he'd much rather just do the fucking, make his partner feel good, and call it a day without worrying about his own wants

grimm: yes and no. it's much easier to talk about things as a faceless one night stand who won't take all their clothes off than it is to talk to the only person who actually knows you, and they're very interested in you and that terrifies you because you want that too but oh my god what if you destroy things because you're nothing but an animal but oh god you also want this so bad

they both do in fact get over their respective issues with the help of the other (grimm's persistent devotion making yarrow realize "oh it wants this too" and yarrow's near-infinite tenderness and fascination making grimm realize it's not repulsive) and have fucknasty gay sex with one another but it's An Ordeal for both of them to get there bc sex involves vulnerability and they're both people who have had to close off parts of themselves for their own protection! makes me insane to think about tbh

What are their thoughts on marriage?  

yarrow: wants to get married! thought about it more in their late teens~ early 20s but by the time grimm comes back around when they're ~27 it's more of a "eh, it'll maybe happen" sort of thing. after everything he and grimm have been through in the story he's defs going to marry her there's no questions there

grimm: didn't have any thoughts really, after escaping the shitshow that was most of their teenage years (still working out the details of that) it was like "i'm never getting married, never attaching myself to any person i am wandering the world By Myself." yarrow changes the game a little bit but it's still not on their mind until years later when yarrow slugs someone bent on attacking them and shouts "don't fucking touch my WIFE" and suddenly grimm's like wife????? wife??????? 🥺👀💖😳💖👀💖💖

What is their preferred mode of transportation? 

yarrow: generally walks everywhere, will and does ride a horse for longer distances

grimm: their beloved carnivorous horse. the beast doesn't have a name yet but here's a drawing from a comic that's in the works (she's actually sweet but has an occasional attitude)

yarrow: actually dunno for them, but i imagine of all the of the ceo scum type people they meet in the last part of the story, a few of them are particularly nasty

grimm: again, ironing out details of their past but tbh i'm not as concerned with the details of backstory so much as how this affects who they currently are, but they basically grew up as this one girl's guard dog for several years after they lost their family. treated enough like a person to fall in love with her, treated enough like an animal to feel like a tool instead of a human being. not exactly someone they had much control over meeting, but fucked them up irreversibly nonetheless

Who are they the most glad to have met? 

yarrow: grimm ofc. they were a handsome stranger who all but rescued him from a soul-sucking job in the city and whisked him away to the middle of the desert. did grimm piss them off after leaving them for five years? absolutely. but grimm also came back, which threw yarrow through a loop bc he had all but accepted he wasn't really important in anyone's life as anything but a doctor

grimm: yarrow, naturally. he showed them kindness when they didn't think it existed and saved their life on more than a few occasions. if grimm gets hurt, yarrow will be there to patch it up

Do they actively seek romance, or do they wait for it to fall into their lap? 

yarrow: doesn't quite seek it out but is inclined to pursue it if there's a mutual thing going on. actually did date a guy in the five years that grimm had fucked off

grimm: it actively avoids romance lol, but before it and yarrow were actually a thing it'd seek out the occasional one night stand

If someone asked them to explain their sexuality, how would they do so? 

this question is deceptively tricky bc to me they're both nonbinary bisexuals, but honeybee's world is like, various pockets of civilization (mostly what are essentially company towns) in the desert, so i think use and knowledge of labels is prominent in more metropolitan areas and ppl in more rural/isolated settings have either their separate terms or just don't describe themselves in the same way? idk how much i'll actually like, think this out and construct in-universe description bc it's not as interesting as the characters. also any attempts to explain this further have just end up in me typing out three sentences of sociopolitical worldbuidling mush that's decreasingly relevant to the characters hdklgfhdf none of this is also to mention any complexities that come with human-animal hybrid shit ANYWAYS

yarrow: bisexual, also transmasculine nonbinary IF they're talking to someone who is familiar with those words (he grew up in one of the metropolitan areas). if talking to someone who's not he'll call himself a guy, use he/him pronouns, and say he "swings both ways". they'll maybe elaborate on being "mostly a man but not quite" and that they also use they/them pronouns if they think that person will Get It. also considers himself stone* and is some flavor of ace but never feels the need to mention it to anyone but romantic/sexual partners

(functionally bisexual and transfem(ish) nonbinary, but labels don't hold the same meaning to them bc social differences, so they don't rly use em yadda yadda)

Why are you excited about this character?

i answered this but i want to talk about them more hehe

a basically am always a sucker for human-animal/monster hybrids, or characters who are otherwise not entirely human. it is my SO my shit and has always been my shit. i think i get some of the best of both worlds with these two: grimm gets the angst of "i'm not human" and yarrow gets the fun of "of fuck yes i'm not fully human". also with these guys (and other humods in this universe) they aren't inhuman in any supernatural sense, so i'm not considering how things like powers factor into things (which can be fun ofc), but rather like, in what ways are these characters human, in what ways do they have animal insticts/mannerisms and it's all somewhat grounded in reality and Real Animals so i get to look up animal stuff about desert animals so i'm :)

yarrow's also my first time of having any sort of bugmonster shit going on so it's been a fun divergence from my usual dragony monster tendencies. grimm's part coyote and you know me and my love for Coyote And Dog Imagery and whatnot so it's mostly an excuse to play with that more and i'm having a LOT of fun

What inspired you to create them?

okay there's actually two solid inspirations here but with what honeybee's become i feel like it's so far from either of them in my brain that it's like. those were the catalyst but honeybee's its own thing now, yknow?

anyways my public library has the first few volumes of the no. 6 manga and i picked it up on a whim in...march? bc i heard good things about it back in like, high school. anyways i was actually very pleasantly surprised by the depth of the characters? definitely like "i would have hyperfixated on this media if i had found it in high school but i'm 23 now and stories with teenage protags aren't my jam" anyways the dynamic between nezumi and shion, especially in regards to this idea of someone from a very cruel world meeting someone who is openly kind and not knowing how to deal with that was super intriguing. then the thought "what if shion got transformed into a bee monster lol" crossed my mind and within an hour i had the initial quick sketches for grimm and yarrow AND several plot ideas. legit the fastest my brain has ever connected the dots to make a semi-coherent story. insane really

the cowboy/western setting was frankly overdue for me, but i had also just finished trigun at the time so i was like "fuck it, we'll make it sci-fi ish too, that explains the human hybrids" trigun's semi-western sci-fi deal continues to be something my brain returns to for aesthetics in the story but also like, i live in the desert, i can do this myself

if you combined how much i cared about no. 6 and trigun it would be like, a fraction of the brainrot honeybee as its own thing has given me. truly magical

Did you have trouble figuring out where they fit in their own story?

not really, surprisingly (or not yet, i should say lol). i think bc no. 6 was such a prominent inspiration for this story in its early stages, i approached honeybee like "how would i change this story (no. 6) and the characters to be more interesting to me specifically" early on so i always had an idea for the General Arc of the plot (or plots, it's three main parts in my brain) and how grimm and yarrow responded to them? now that i've figured out where i want to take the story (for the most part) i don't have to fall back on the scaffolding of another story to decide what my characters are doing or how they fit. now it's a matter of actually writing shit and conveying the proper Vibes
