Avon - Opal Top Coat

So I knew I wanted to pick an 'all the colours' polish for you (definitely influenced by your rainbow Roscoe pfp) but I didn't feel like the holographic glitter was right for you l, and then I suddenly remembered about this Opal effect top coat I've owned forever and knew it was yours.

To me you're all the colours both for the Roscoe pfp but also for your endless creativity - all the different styles of graphics you make that all look unique (just like how there are so many types of Opal and they're all equally beautiful). But also you yourself are just so bright in a soft but ever glowing way that I really admire.

The concept behind special effect top coats is that you can wear them over any nail polish to make it look like whatever effect you want (in this case, sparkly opal) and I think that applies to you bc your blog is very well curated (I remember seeing a post or tag where you said you queue posts in a certain order so that your blog aesthetics just hit right) so I think this fits you really well for that reason too!

OPI - Comet In the Sky

Again I've gone for a dark colour (in this case matte black glitter) bc I don't feel like I know you massively well. BUT you are always there on my dash living your best live whenever we get new Seb content or appearances - hence the very fun iridescent glitter!

I also feel like this goes with your blog theme really well too!

OPI - Red Heads Ahead

Dearest Hammy you could not be any other colour. Of course you're red. Both for Manchester United & The Chiefs but you are loud and vibrant and so unapologetically yourself in the best way that only a true bright red can be.

This one came out in an Autumn/Winter collection but honestly it's vibrant enough that it definitely works for all year round - in the same way that your always so dependable and there for people when they need it.

I remembered from previous conversations we've had that you said you love glitter polishes - so naturally I had to pick the sparkliest polish I own. (Look at all the holo!!!!!!! It's brighter than a disco ball)

OPI - Can't Find My Czechbook

Yes the name is doing a lot of heavy lifting here, but I just had to pick it. But this is also one of my favourite blues, and I'm actually wearing it as part of my current manicure so that's a fun little bonus!

I feel like this just about works as a George Russel helmet blue colour (it's not as bright but the shade is just about there) and it's an Alpine blue if you really really squint.

But another reason why I picked this is that it's also a really pretty sky blue and you do give me lots of outdoorsy vibes! I think a lot of that is down to the cycling but also chatting to you feels a lot like hanging out with friends at a park all day and this polish reminds me a lot of that too 🩵

OPI - My Voice Is a Little Norse

Another one of my absolute favourite polishes - this is a mix of silver and holographic glitter in a tinted grey base. I don't mean this in a bad way but you've always seemed somewhat mysterious to me? I think it's bc we don't talk much, but you are a very fun presence on my dash (hence the sparkle!).

The glitters in this are also unique in that they're square shaped instead of the usual hexagon - so I think that fits you well too!

OPI - Love Is a Racket

No matter how hard I tried my brain just kept on circling back to some kind of Ferrari red. BUT! This is a fun Ferrari red, it's got a whole load of bright pink shimmer in it because you're not just a Tifosi you're also massively creative with your writing (I am still forever grateful for the help you gave me during the Seb fic fest last year!) plus you always stand out on my dash a lot too (in a good way!) so I think it sums you up very well.

Without spoilers, what did you think of the new hunger games book?

without spoilers, i think it’s arguably miss collins’ best work and definitely the most unsubtle. the premise is david hume’s sunrise problem and to do that well in a middle grade book is so fucking impressive. it’s gritty, it’s gruesome, it’s tiring. it has the most violent and horrifying deaths in a games that we’ve seen thus far—and then they’re tidied up for the audience. they’re a spectacle and they serve snow’s narrative. it also has the most allyship between tributes, and that makes everything that much more gutting. it’s a book about the power of propaganda which makes it so fucking timely but an instant modern classic (see: western news coverage about the bloodshed in palestine). it’s recontextualizes all of the original trilogy. we already know katniss was never the chosen one, she was never calling the shots, but to see it now—to see how many voices of dissent there have been for decades. how many attempts there have been to stop the hunger games. how many people have failed but kept trying. because revolutions don’t happen overnight. there might be sparks but you must stoke a fire if you want it to keep going. you go into this thinking you know who haymitch is and walk away with an entirely new understanding of the character. because no one—not katniss, not the reader—is immune to propaganda. and not just haymitch. you get to see other familiar characters in a new light, but that’s a spoiler so i shan’t say who.

even tho it’s technically a prequel, i don’t think this is the middle of the story. i think it’s the end. haymitch fails and fails and fails, and the games will keep happening, but you also know that eventually the sun won’t rise on a reaping. because there won’t be a reaping. it’s just so masterfully done bc if we got this book before thg, it would be a miserable read. there would be no hope. and at the core of it, this series is about exactly that—hope in the face of overwhelmingly impossible odds

So for you I obviously had to pick a purple. It was just a case of which purple, and I have a lot of purples so this was quite difficult to choose 😅

After much deliberation I finally settled on this one! It feels like a somewhat close match to your blog theme, and it also has loads of silver holographic glitter in it which fits bc you do give off very sparkly vibes and your blog is also jam packed with all your different interests (F1, Bayern, E-Sports) so having all the colours in one feels like a good fit!
