Still Thinkin of Yokai Amity

Y'know, where all of Amity have pretty much become yokai creatures. I might be weak for Japanese mythology and cryptids. Or really all mythology and cryptids, but Japan has a lot and it's near never-ending meaning it's fun to continue discovering and learning stuff. But anyway!

Amity Park, practically empty of humans now. Not even following the usual rule that things do thanks to how malleable ecto is. Along with how a form usually depends on ones own thoughts, feelings, and Core.

But anyway, Amity? Kind of having some trouble now that, again, no one there counts as human. Visibly so. Which, yeah the GIW is sort of incompetent, but it's also kind of... not?

Let them reiterate, individually or even in pairs, they can easily deal with the Guys in White. Heck, even a small battalion is easy enough- but they have... a lot of people. And the backing of the government. So.

Plan B? Escape. Where to?

Well, see, they've all had to interact more with the Realms, not to mention that well, the entire town was pulled into it at one point. Which was how everyone got that last bit of ecto to push the transformations from contaminated to Liminal.

Which means? Time to escape through the Realms to somewhere, maybe even somewhen else. But they also can't stay in the Realms indefinitely. Because even with their own Cores, most of them are still Living.

But they also can't agree on a World to settle down in, not with how they're still wary of reactions. So what's a city to do?

Why, pop into multiple worlds of course. A wandering city, the entrance shifting through gates and alleys and doorways that appears through time and space.

Sometimes another haunted being finds their way through, sometimes they visit one dimension more than another- sometimes they leave one behind forever. But tales still spread of the wandering city that flickers through existence.

I was write a fic about tobirama as onmyoji and uchihas as tengu clan... but i axed it, because writing in english is frustating me... these sketch was my inspiration when writing it. I like how itachi would protective towards his otoutou, sasuke is a brat who want to prove his self worth to his fmily/clan, madara is tengu patriarch who fallen to his human contractor... so many possibilities

so tbh i've gone back and forth on this in my head bc i really don't think everyone needs to have a susanoo (case in point, shisui. why would you give him that. it adds nothing and only makes him look like an idiot for not using it when danzou was trying to yoink his eyeballs), but ultimately i came to this conclusion for two reasons:

first, it's canon that a susanoo changes once you move from the regular mangekyou to the ems. to illustrate this, here's sasuke's susanoo in chapter 484 (i'm pretty sure it's 484, it's definitely volume 52, but unfortunately i don't own that one yet):

compared to his susanoo in 574, after implanting itachi's eyes:

iirc we first see sasuke's incomplete susanoo at the five kage summit in chapter 463 (according to the wiki; unfortunately i don't own volume 49 either), well after he awakens his mangekyou in chapter 402. the third databook states that one must be able to use both amaterasu and tsukuyomi before unlocking susanoo, although if that's true then it's only the case for itachi, as no one else has ever used tsukuyomi ever, while just about everyone has susanoo. however, the implication is that there's a learning process, which neatly slots into sasuke learning to both activate and extinguish amaterasu at different points in time (and with different levels of intent. stop putting your jutsu in people without asking, itachi, it's really weird).

my second piece of evidence is what madara says the first time we see his susanoo (chronologically, during hashirama's flashback): 「この前の傷が元で弟は死んだ・・・うちはを守るためにオレに力を残��て！」 "my little brother died due to the wound from last time... he left me the power to protect the uchiha!"

now, we never see madara use susanoo pre-ems, so we have no idea what it looked like before izuna's power was added to it. my theory is that it looked similar to this:

but we really don't see much of the other face at all. the best image i could find was this one:

the back face is hardly ever seen by the viewer, and it's not visible at all in hashirama's flashback. i actually went back and checked just to be completely sure, and yeah, in every single susanoo panel in the flashback, the second face is completely obscured. when he first summons it after izuna's death, the angle is such that the second part is almost impossible to see at all

i think this serves two purposes - first and most obviously, as a physical manifestation of madara's deep-seated trust issues. he can't fully put his faith in anyone else. however, in spite of hating having people behind him, when izuna's life is threatened in their childhood, madara flings himself in front of him without hesitation.

(sorry for the poor quality, that's what i could find. believe me, it's better than it would've been if i'd just tried to take a picture myself lol)

as much as madara dislikes having people stand behind him (and thus dislikes being in a position that would require such a thing, like being a leader), he puts his love for his family - especially his little brother - over his personal discomfort.

so to me, the double-sided susanoo is a representation of both madara's inability to trust others and his desire to keep what he loves shielded with even his own body.

side note: the seals the susanoo face i view as madara's original is making when he summons it in the fourth image appear to be the mirrored ram seal, which madara also uses to become the juubi jinchuuriki (so does obito) and after that to throw lightning out of his hands like he's emperor palpatine or something. the seal the rear face is making appears to be a version of the ox seal, although with the palms pressed together rather than being perpendicular and all of the fingers folded. possibly this is due to madara's susanoo's hands having six fingers rather than five, not sure.

so i've been thinking about the susanoo and i can't decide if i'd rather discuss why the anime changed itachi and sasuke's respective susanoo's colors or why the second susanoo on the back of madara's is definitely izuna's and was not there pre-ems

Day 23 - Sasuke x Tengu

Did Madara become a Tengu or a Susanoo?

Have you noticed that Madara possess the biggest susanoo even bigger than Sasuke?

The real Susanoo in shinto tradition is related to the God of typhoon and oceans. It's not really how it is portrayed in Naruto. They left the watery element of the mythological Susanoo except the excessive warlike character.

The real inspiration (especially for Madara and Sasuke) is the Tengu an other supernatural creature. In japanese folkore it's associated with the divinity protector of the forest and the mountain, skillful in martial art, swords, naginata. The Tengu is described as a an angry yokai, with a long nose, sometimes a bird-like appearance.

Something unique about Madara's perfect Susanoo is that it goes in two phases before he can settle his chakra.

It's never explained why he does that. There is an aesthetic effort on the first phase but I didn't know if it meant something symbolically. I know that Kishimoto never draw an important character like this by chance. For instance, the two-faced susanoo represents Madara's fear for backstabbing. So I did a little research and I came with this hypothesis:

The phase 1 seems to be a reference to the Yamabushis, an order of warrior monks. They seek enlightenment through rigorous physical and spiritual training in the natural environment, particularly in mountainous regions. Look at how those monks are depicted in their war gears :

They have strong linked to Tengus, some venerate them, other stories said that arrogant priests are turning into Tengu after their death. Or those creatures kidnap priests to turn them into Tengu.

Tengus are known for their supernatural abilities, including shape-shifting, flight, and martial prowess, which align with the mystical aura surrounding Yamabushi.

Whatever the version, I found that Madara's susanoo/Tengu with his two phases, is also a strong metaphor of his unique path as an Uchiha. Similarly to the yamaguchi, Madara is a powerful warrior who went into an ascetic lifestyle, cutting link with his clan, his friend, his village to retire from civilisation in order to gain occult potent powers and ended up transforming into this fearless god of war. The size of his Susanoo manifest the full scale of his destructive anger and arrogance. He seems to have spent more time underground that in the mountain however this is the region that has been Madara's hideout for the obscure 60 years of his life after he lost at the Valley of the End. This place is called the Mountain's graveyard.

So the mythology of a Yamaguchi monk turning into a Tengu can be a metaphor of his path as a rogue shinobi becoming this almost mythical warlord. Living by the sword, belligerent and excited by the battlefield.

A last thing to note about Tengu closer to shinto tradition like the Uchiha, there is also a lot of stories of them opposing Buddhism. trying to corrupt priests, disrupt temples ect... And the Senju have a lot of affinity with Buddhist culture.

695: and of course it turned into a kaiju battle. Someone needs to make a compilation of every time that swing from naruto's childhood shows up. It has more screen time than most off the female cast

There's an interesting design contrast going on between naruto and sasuke's kaiju fight. Naruto's fox shroud design has a very sleek modern almost minimalist design bold lines and geometry. Sasuke's susanoo resemble tengu with a lot of intricate details and elements of traditional armor.

696: ah another reading each other's heart through combat scenes. this one makes as much sense as the last one. i get that they're coming to understand each other's intentions but they way these are framed as conversations. it like half way between them actually talking and each of them imagining what the other is thinking, but also like symbolic from an audience perspective. it doesn't quite work.

sasuke's master plan is to become the enemy of the whole world so that everyone has a common enemy to always fight against and then keep doing that forever alone. really stretching the definition of hokage there. ... why was i expecting a better plan from him, this is exactly the single braincell thinking sasuke has been doing the entire series. in that sasuke often has good points yeah the shinobi world is pretty messed up, yeah konoha's government is a dumpster fire, yeah the 5 villages are only cooperating because of a common enemy, and then he veers off into the wildest most extreme conclusions.

at this point im not even going to question the new powerups.

shadow clone jutsu at a symbol of Naruto's weakness/strength. For Naruto strength comes from everyone coming together to work towards the same goal. For Sasuke strength is being alone and weakness is relying on others. To Sasuke kagebunshin is just Naruto compensating for his loneliness but having fake comrades which are just copies of himself.

697: In the anime Sasuke's inner forearms with the seals are purplish in color and that makes me wonder because I assumed those were tattoos but why's his skin purple.

This panel amuses me. and again Sasuke eats shit from an Uzumaki Barrage. I do love how their grand fight dissolves into a fistfight bar brawl, seeing these two beat each other to a pulp is great.

Even as he's beating Naruto's face in, Sasuke's eyes are closed.

I think it would have been fine for the fight to end without this last hit and blowing their arms off. for the end of the fight to end in a wimper instead of a bang to contrast their last fight, it ends from exhaustion instead of like blood loss

Here i will explain about the POV among my oc and of course the timeline. I'm just confused how to put them in the plot. Especially about Unmei's presence.

So, i will divide the POV into two, real life and in game. The plot of real life is same as in game but different POV.

In game POV, it's about Ryuji and Narumi play both IkeGen and IkeSen. It's very weird though. So, just think about this game is exist in Touran universe (which mean the present time like nowadays). In this POV, just imagine Saniwa play IkeGen and IkeSen. Both Ryuji and Narumi named the MC as 'Unmei'. Ryuji describes Unmei as a tricky tsundere girl similar to him, while Narumi describe Unmei just like the way she is but little bit brave and of course easily surprised.

Meanwhile, in real life POV, Ryuji works as Saniwa and of course he always goes time travel through the past with Touken Danshi to fix the timeline. However, i put some timeline on it because there is interesting thing about Ryuji. The story itself, it inspired by IkeGen, IkeSen, and Eiga Touken Ranbu 1 and 2.

The government has a report about the timeline rift that affect present timeline. It makes Ryuji's biological father disappear from the timeline and Dark Saniwa appears. Kame-no-Mae, Yoritomo's concubine, also teleported to present time and eavesdroped as 'Unmei', Ryuji's girlfriend. During by Honnoji incident timeline, Dark Saniwa corrupted Touken Danshi named Kurikara Gou, making Ryuji depressed more. Noticing there are a wrong timeline since Unmei was killed by Kebishii, both Narumi and Ryuji fix the alter timeline during Great Invasion. During Great Invasion, it revealed that Dark Saniwa is Ryuji's mother. The timeline changed because one of Saniwa failed the mission, causing Ryuji's mother joins the Jikkan Shokogun.

Later, Ryuji has a report if his father figure (or Narumi's father) trapped in Kamakura era and other Ayakashi striking the timeline such as Tamamo and Kurama Tengu (the timeline appear after Shuten Doji defeated in present time). The plot is almost similar to IkeGen but there are Kame-no-Mae, someone that used to be Ryuji's girlfriend in alter history. Later Omokage calls Ryuji for Hyakki Yakou Interception. Because of Operation: Hyakki Yakou Interception, there are another 'himself' called Unmei from another universe. She is a saniwa too but she lost the battle in Great Invasion. He is looking for Nagato and Oborozuki Mikazuki Munechika.

In IkeSen plot, the future Ryuji found if Sasuke Sarutobi went to present time and tried to flee away from Kebishii. Unfortunately the Kebishii portal brings both Sasuke and Mai (Ryuji's daughter) into Sengoku era. At the same time, the present Ryuji are trying to protect Nobunaga from his death and investigate the moves from Uesugi-Takeda and Kennyo's presence. Unfortunately, Mai saved Nobunaga from the accident, making the present Ryuji and his team changed the plan. He split the team making Ryuji works for Kennyo alone. Goke and Kenshin work for Uesugi-Takeda. Fudou, Okadagiri (my sword oc), and Kurikara Gou work for Oda troops and taking care of Mai. And Omokage works for Motonari and Kichou.

In IkeGen plot, Yoshino (Ryuji's girlfriend) learns about Saniwa's task. One of them are expedition. At the same time, the present Ryuji notices if Yoshitsune is still alive because of Kurama Tengu. Yoritomo also has a willingness to get Tamamo-no-Mae. Unfortunately, Yoshino get involved into the conflict, which makes Ryuji and Touken Danshi has one more task, saving Yoshino who get caught by Yoritomo and get possesed by Tamamo. Beside, there is also rumor about relation between Yasuchika and Akihito and Shuten Doji. Ryuji again split the team to investigate more. But the priority still saving Yoshino and fix the timeline related to Yoshitsune's death. Ryuji prefer to kill Yoshitsune at the moment Soga Brother executed by Yoritomo.

So, there is three 'Unmei' in my plot. The first one is both Ryuji and Narumi nickname during playing otome game, the second one is other name for Kame-no-Mae, the last one is Ryuji's other version in Hyakki Yakou Interception.
