domestic! simon is the best partner & father your family could ever ask for. he’s up at the ass crack of the morning to make a dash to the store, stocking up on all the groceries and making sure to grab your pregnancy cravings. you wake up, sore, miserable and aggy— toddling downstairs with bed head, only to find he’s at the kitchen counter slicing up fresh fruit for you. “oi, sit down.” he’ll say affectionately, pointing to the table so don’t stay on your feet for too long. “i’m pregnant, si, i’m not completely incompetent.” you sigh, hands rubbing your swollen tummy with a smirk. he chuckles, raising his eyebrows at you as if to say ‘you sure about that?’
he rubs soothing lotions onto your tummy, unable to stop himself from grinning with each kick from wee riley. “feisty one, eh? gets it from papa riley.” he remarks, his eyes warm with affection as he continues to stare down at your tummy. “mad, ‘ent it? to think.. i’m gonna be a dad. crazy.”
and the love doesn’t stop when wee riley is born, it quadruples in size. a milk-drunk baby all coddled up in the crook of his arm while he whips up some dinner. he swears that his mac n cheese & tenderstem broccoli heals, and you have to admit he does manage to make even stinky ol’ broccoli taste good. he doesn’t understand why dads make such a big fuss about being active parents, hell, you have to remind simon that wee riley is your baby too!
he loves the milestones, can’t not shut up about how much he loves his kiddo. spends his time gushing to laswell about their kids, how exciting it is to be a parent!! the boys love it too, to be honest. johnny’s set out to be wee riley’s favourite uncle, gaz likes teasing you about how whipped and domesticated ol’ ghosty is. and price, well, he’s actually wee riley’s favourite. he looks unamused every time the little bugger grabs at his moustache, babbling and squealing with excitement at the fluff on his face. he looks like a mardy bum, but when nobody’s looking he’ll crack a smile. and yes, johnny’s salty that the baby prefers price LOL
so imagine how excited he is when, on one lazy sunday morning, the three of you are laying in bed with no set plans for the day. the baby’s attention is divided between a silly kid’s movie on the telly, and exploring the terrain of the bed. grabbing tiny fistfuls of cotton with a toothy smile, babbling excitedly at papa riley. he chuckles, nodding as he leans in. “oh yeah? you showin’ the duvet who’s boss, love?” he grins, ruffling the delicate tufts of hair on wee riley’s head, eliciting an excited squeal. his attention is suddenly stolen when, unexpectedly, you slide a picture into his lap.
it’s an ultrasound.
he thought the happiest of his life was the day he had met you, but then he married you— and that was the happiest day of his life. and then wee riley was born, and he couldn’t comprehend how fucking happy and lucky he was as a man. so, the news of another baby on the way makes his heart full. fucking hell, he’s a lucky fella. and he wouldn’t have it any other way <33

Realizing that I've been unconsciously classifying the wonderful and delicious crop that is tenderstem broccoli (known internationally as broccolini I believe) as not a real vegetable, on the grounds that it's too easy to prepare and cook. I wonder how many similarly outrageously dumb ideas are kicking around in my stupid-ass skull that I still need to weed out

Tagged by the rocking @lucifersmaid thank you!💜
Last song listened to:
Currently watching:
Only Murders In The Building
My whole family hounded me to watch it so I’m two episodes in 😂
Last movie watched?
I think it’s still Deadpool and Wolverine. Haven’t had time to watch another movie lately, although I did buy sooo many blurays recently 🙈
Sweet, spicy, savory?
I have a huge sweet tooth, but I also love savoury food and don’t mind a bit of spice too. I just fucking love food honestly.
Relationship status?
Single and slowly being convinced to make myself available.
Current obsession?
Trying to stop with the tattoo splurge now, which is difficult but I need to slow the fuck down. I turned my obsessive eye back to blurays but I don’t have anywhere to put them yet so I need something else. Any suggestions?
Last thing I googled?
Tenderstem broccoli. Was looking for some inspiration but just cooked it the way I usually do, grilled with some olive oil and sea salt.

My new method of trying to incorporate new vegetables into my diet is just to fucking buy them and have them in my fridge so I'll incorporate them into stuff or bust
I have just put tenderstem broccoli in my risotto and it was Good and I'm excited to do the broccoli in the same honey sauce I'm currently experimenting with from a sweet BBQ braised pork

Ok this is a totally normal sauted broccoli recipe except for the fact that it calls for "1/2 clove of garlic, crushed" and like.
Who the hell calls for half a clove of garlic??
What are you supposed to do with the OTHER HALF? Tenderly wrap it in tinfoil and save it for later?? Like what the hell?
Are we in some kind of global garlic shortage. I know cost of living etc etc but I think we can push the boat out for a whole clove of garlic.

Trans Kids Deserve Better - Broccoli Soup
I cobbled this together out of a couple of different internet recipes and some improv - first time I ever made it
1 large onion, chopped Olive oil 2 large potatoes, peeled and chopped small - maybe 1-2cm 800gm tenderstem broccoli, chopped into 3-4cm lengths 1.5l water Marigold veg stock powder Salt, pepper, lemon juice
You’ll need a large pan for this - the veg take up a lot of room - and a blender or food processor
Cook the onion gently until soft in enough olive oil to cover the bottom of the pan. Add the potatoes, the water, and 4 teaspoons of stock powder, bring to a boil, and simmer for 10 minutes until the potato is soft. Add the broccoli, bring back to the boil, and simmer for another 6 or 7 minutes until the broccoli’s cooked. (Yoink a piece out with a fork and try it after 5 minutes. Repeat until it’s not too crunchy.)
Put everything in a blender or food processor and blitz until smooth-ish. You’ll need to do this in batches so have a big bowl ready to hold the blended soup until you’ve emptied the pan.
Put the soup back in the pan and heat gently while you stir and season it. This part isn’t very scientific - keep adding and tasting until it tastes good to you. (This is the secret of easy good cooking.) Start with too little seasoning and add more gradually - remember, you can always add more but you can’t take it back out if it’s too much. You’ll want quite a lot of black pepper - I use a grinder so I don’t measure quantities, one or two more teaspoons of stock powder (but be careful - Marigold is very salty and can overwhelm the soup), a squeeze of lemon juice (not enough to taste sharp but it brightens the flavour), and I think I added a half teaspoon of salt at the end.
If the soup seems too thick then you can add more water, but don’t overdo it. And remember you’ll need to adjust seasoning if you do.
Pour into a big kilner jar you were using to store flattened rice, wrap in a towel, and take down to the protest
