How to Adapt to Remote Recruitment in the UK?
Tumblr media
The landscape of recruitment in the United Kingdom, like in many parts of the world, has undergone a significant transformation in recent years. The advent of technology and the global pandemic have accelerated the shift towards remote recruitment practices. As a result, both job seekers and employers have had to adapt to this new way of hiring and job hunting. This blog explores the challenges and opportunities presented by remote recruitment in the UK and provides valuable insights on how to navigate this changing landscape successfully:
The Rise of Remote Recruitment
Before delving into the intricacies of adapting to remote recruitment, it's essential to understand why this shift has occurred. Several factors have contributed to the rise of remote recruitment in the UK:
1.       Technological Advancements
The UK, a global technology hub, has seen rapid advancements in digital communication tools and platforms. These technologies have made it easier for employers and candidates to connect and conduct interviews from the comfort of their homes.
2.       The COVID-19 Pandemic
The pandemic forced businesses to adapt quickly to remote work and recruitment practices. Many companies discovered that remote recruitment not only allowed them to continue hiring but also widened their talent pool by eliminating geographical barriers.
3.       Cost Efficiency
Remote recruitment often leads to cost savings for both employers and job seekers. Companies can reduce overheads associated with in-person interviews, and candidates can save on travel expenses.
Challenges of Remote Recruitment in the UK
While remote recruitment offers numerous benefits, it also presents its share of challenges. Being aware of these challenges is the first step in successfully adapting to this new way of hiring:
1.       Lack of Personal Connection
One of the drawbacks of remote recruitment is the lack of in-person interaction. Building a personal connection with candidates or employers can be more challenging when you're not physically present.
2.       Technical Issues
Technical problems can disrupt the recruitment process. Internet connectivity issues, software glitches, and unfamiliarity with virtual interview platforms can hinder the smooth flow of remote recruitment.
3.       Ensuring Data Security
Handling sensitive candidate information and conducting background checks remotely requires a robust approach to data security to protect candidates and comply with UK data protection laws.
Strategies for Adapting to Remote Recruitment
To thrive in the era of remote recruitment in the UK, both job seekers and employers can employ various strategies:
For Employers:
1.       Embrace Technology
Invest in user-friendly video conferencing tools and applicant tracking systems. Familiarise yourself with these technologies to ensure smooth remote recruitment processes.
2.       Create a Virtual Onboarding Process
Develop a comprehensive virtual onboarding program to make new hires feel welcome and integrated into the company culture, even when working remotely.
3.       Prioritise Communication
Maintain clear and regular communication with candidates. Explain the recruitment process clearly and provide opportunities for candidates to ask questions.
For Job Seekers:
1.       Build a Strong Online Presence
Optimise your LinkedIn profile and other professional social media platforms. Many employers in the UK use these platforms to scout for potential candidates.
2.       Practice Video Interviews
Familiarise yourself with video interview platforms and practice answering common interview questions on camera to build confidence.
3.       Stay Informed
Stay updated on the latest remote recruitment trends and tools. Continuous learning and adaptability are valuable skills in today's job market.
The Future of Remote Recruitment in the UK
Remote recruitment is not just a temporary trend; it's here to stay. As technology continues to evolve and businesses recognise the benefits of remote work and hiring, the UK's recruitment landscape will keep evolving. This evolution offers exciting opportunities for both job seekers and employers.
Conclusion
Adapting to remote recruitment in the UK is essential for staying competitive in the modern job market. Embracing technology, addressing challenges, and staying informed are key steps towards success in this new era of recruitment. By following these strategies, you can navigate the changing landscape with confidence and continue to build a strong and talented workforce in the United Kingdom.
In the dynamic world of remote recruitment in the UK, companies like Berry Recruitment have played a pivotal role in bridging the gap between employers and job seekers. With a commitment to excellence and adaptability, the company exemplifies the qualities necessary to thrive in this evolving landscape. The organisation has embraced technology, streamlined its processes, and fostered meaningful connections in a virtual world, making them essential players in the modern UK recruitment arena.

How to Choose the Right Temping Agency for Your Business
Tumblr media
Finding the right temping agency can be a game-changer for businesses looking to meet their staffing needs efficiently and effectively. A temp agency, or temporary staff agency, specializes in providing qualified workers for short-term or project-based roles, helping businesses maintain productivity and flexibility. However, not all temping agencies are created equal, and selecting the one that aligns with your business goals requires careful consideration.
The first step in choosing a temping agency is understanding your specific needs. Every business has unique requirements, whether it’s for seasonal staff, specialized expertise, or emergency coverage. A temp agency with experience in your industry will be better equipped to meet those needs. For example, if you operate in hospitality, finding a temporary staff agency that specializes in providing trained kitchen staff or front-of-house professionals can make all the difference. Similarly, a temping agency focused on logistics or retail may have a deeper pool of candidates familiar with those sectors.
Reputation is another critical factor to consider when selecting a temp agency. A reputable temporary staff agency will have a proven track record of success and positive reviews from both clients and workers. Researching the agency’s history, client testimonials, and online ratings can provide valuable insights into their reliability and quality of service. A temping agency with a strong reputation is more likely to have established relationships with skilled workers and a robust understanding of the hiring landscape in your industry.
The scope of services offered by a temping agency is also important. Some temp agencies focus solely on providing workers, while others offer comprehensive staffing solutions that include payroll management, compliance support, and training. A temporary staff agency that provides end-to-end services can save your business time and effort, allowing you to focus on your core operations. For small and medium-sized businesses, these additional services can be particularly beneficial, as they often lack the resources to handle these tasks in-house.
Communication is a cornerstone of any successful partnership with a temping agency. A reliable temp agency will prioritize clear and transparent communication throughout the staffing process. This includes understanding your requirements, providing regular updates, and addressing any concerns promptly. A temporary staff agency that takes the time to understand your business culture and goals is better positioned to provide candidates who will thrive in your organization. Effective communication also ensures that the staffing process runs smoothly, reducing the risk of misunderstandings or delays.
Another key consideration when choosing a temping agency is their candidate selection process. The quality of the workers provided by a temp agency can have a significant impact on your business’s performance. A reputable temporary staff agency will have a rigorous screening process to ensure they are offering highly qualified and reliable candidates. This process may include background checks, skills assessments, and reference verification. Asking about the agency’s recruitment methods can give you confidence in the quality of their workforce.
Flexibility is an essential trait of a good temping agency. Your staffing needs can change quickly, and a temp agency should be able to adapt to these changes seamlessly. Whether you need last-minute cover for an absent employee or additional workers for a sudden increase in demand, a temporary staff agency should have the resources and agility to respond promptly. A temping agency that offers flexible solutions ensures that your business can operate without disruptions, regardless of the circumstances.
Cost is another factor to consider when selecting a temping agency. While it’s important to stay within budget, choosing the cheapest option may not always be the best decision. A low-cost temp agency might cut corners in areas like candidate screening or customer support, which could lead to issues down the line. A temporary staff agency that offers competitive pricing without compromising on quality is a better long-term investment. Transparent pricing is also essential; ensure that the temping agency provides a clear breakdown of their fees and any additional costs upfront.
Technology plays an increasingly significant role in the effectiveness of a temping agency. Many temp agencies now use digital platforms to streamline their operations, making it easier for businesses to request staff and for candidates to apply for roles. A temporary staff agency that leverages technology can provide faster turnaround times, better transparency, and an overall improved experience. By choosing a temping agency that embraces modern tools, you can benefit from a more efficient and reliable staffing process.
Ultimately, the right temping agency for your business will be one that aligns with your values, understands your goals, and delivers exceptional service. A temp agency that acts as a true partner, rather than just a service provider, can make a significant difference in your ability to meet staffing challenges and achieve success. By taking the time to evaluate your options and prioritize the factors that matter most to your business, you can find a temporary staff agency that meets your needs and exceeds your expectations.
Choosing the right temping agency is about more than just filling positions; it’s about building a partnership that supports your business’s growth and adaptability. Whether you need temporary staff for a specific project, seasonal demands, or unexpected challenges, a reliable temp agency can provide the expertise and resources you need. With the right temporary staff agency by your side, your business can navigate the complexities of workforce management with confidence and ease.

How Do Employment Agencies Work? A Comprehensive Guide
Tumblr media
Employment agencies work as middlemen between job seekers and employers. They collaborate with companies to understand their staffing needs and then actively seek out potential candidates through various channels. After screening and evaluating applicants based on qualifications and skills, employment agencies match them with suitable job openings. They handle administrative tasks such as contracts and payroll for temporary positions. Connect with us today to find the perfect job opportunities or hire the best talent for your business needs. Let PLI Staffing be your partner in achieving your career goals or building a successful workforce.
Here’s a comprehensive guide to how employment agencies work:
1. Client Consultation: Employment agencies begin by understanding the needs of their client companies. They hold consultations with employers to gather information about the job positions they want to fill, including job requirements, desired qualifications, experience levels, and any specific preferences they may have.
2. Candidate Sourcing: After identifying the client's requirements, employment agencies actively source potential candidates. They utilize various channels, such as online job boards, social media platforms, networking events, and their own extensive candidate databases, to attract a diverse pool of applicants.
3. Candidate Screening and Evaluation: Employment agencies undertake a rigorous screening process to evaluate the suitability of candidates. This process typically involves reviewing resumes, conducting interviews, and assessing candidates' skills, qualifications, and experience.
4. Job Matching: Based on the candidate's skills and qualifications, employment agencies match them with relevant job openings provided by their client companies. They aim to find the best fit for both the employer and the candidate.
5. Temporary and Permanent Placements: Employment agencies offer both temporary and permanent job placements. Temporary placements are ideal for short-term assignments, project-based work, or seasonal demands. Permanent placements, on the other hand, are for long-term positions within the company.

What Do Staffing Agencies Do?
Staffing agencies, also known as recruitment firms or employment agencies, perform a vital role in the job market by connecting job seekers with potential employers. These agencies act as intermediaries, serving both businesses and individuals in their quest to find suitable employment solutions.
Here's an overview of what staffing agencies do:
1. Talent Sourcing and Recruitment: Staffing agencies actively search for qualified candidates to fill job vacancies. They use various channels like job boards, social media, networking events, and their own candidate databases to attract potential candidates with the required skills and experience.
2. Candidate screening and Assessment: Once candidates apply or are sourced, staffing agencies conduct thorough screening processes. This may include resume reviews, skills assessments, and interviews to evaluate their qualifications and compatibility with job opportunities.
3. Job Matching: Based on the skills, experience, and preferences of the candidates, staffing agencies match them with suitable job openings provided by client companies.
4. Temporary and Permanent Placements: Staffing agencies offer both temporary and permanent job placements. Temporary positions are short-term assignments, often filling in for staff on leave or covering seasonal demands. Permanent placements are for long-term positions within client companies.
5. Administrative Processes: Staffing agencies handle administrative tasks related to the hiring process. This includes managing contracts, payroll, benefits, and compliance with labor laws and regulations.
6. Onboarding Support: For temporary placements, staffing agencies take care of the onboarding process, ensuring that the candidate is ready to start their assignment promptly and smoothly.
7. Talent Management: Staffing agencies maintain relationships with candidates even after their placement. They may offer training, career advice, and support to enhance the candidate's employability.
8. Client-Candidate Mediation: Staffing agencies act as intermediaries between clients and candidates, facilitating communication, and addressing any concerns or issues that may arise during the placement.

Sunday, Dec. 25, 2023 — Another day, another horrific massacre of innocent Palestinians by Israel. The US and the international community must force Israel to STOP the carnage, STOP the war crimes, STOP the depravity.
The world continues to watch as the rogue state of Israel inflicts unthinkable crimes against humanity. The complicity is sickening, the inaction despicable. Palestinians deserve better, we've failed them.

An Israeli airstrike on a refugee camp in central Gaza has killed at least 70 people, Palestinian health officials have said as they warned the toll was likely to rise and the strikes that began hours before midnight continued into Christmas Day. The Palestinian health ministry spokesperson, Ashraf al-Qidra, said the death toll was likely to climb. “What is happening at the Maghazi camp is a massacre that is being committed on a crowded residential square,” he told Reuters.

U.S. President Joe Biden spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Saturday, calling it a long and private conversation a day after the Biden administration again shielded Israel in the diplomatic arena. On Friday, the U.N. Security Council adopted a watered-down resolution that calls for immediately speeding up aid deliveries to desperate civilians in Gaza, but not for a cease-fire. “I did not ask for a cease-fire,” Biden said of the call. Netanyahu’s office said the prime minister “made clear that Israel would continue the war until achieving all its goals.”

CAIRO/JERUSALEM, Dec 24 (Reuters) - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed on Sunday to fight deeper into Gaza after his troops endured one of the worst days of losses of their ground war, while militant group Islamic Jihad joined talks in Cairo, a sign diplomacy was still alive. ... The militant groups have so far said they will not discuss any release of hostages unless Israel ends its war in Gaza, while the Israelis say they are willing to discuss only a temporary pause in fighting.

Gaza civil defence crews said more than 300 bodies have been recovered from the mass grave at the Nasser Medical Complex so far. According to Al Jazeera’s correspondent Hani Mahmoud, those being retrieved from the grave included women, children, patients and medical staff. He said medical staff and evacuees who had managed to leave the hospital before the Israeli army’s withdrawal had described scenes of “horror, mass killings and arrests to the point the entire hospital turned from a place of healing into a massive graveyard”. The civil defence group on Monday said it uncovered many of the bodies from what appear to be temporary graves inside the Nasser complex as Israel’s siege prevented access to cemeteries, The Associated Press news agency reported. Ravina Shamdasani, a spokeswoman with the UN’s human rights office, said some of the bodies found at the Khan Younis hospital were “found with their hands tied and stripped of their clothes”.

How to Attract Skilled Workers in the Construction Industry?
Tumblr media
In the competitive landscape of the construction industry, attracting skilled workers is a challenge that companies face consistently. With projects becoming more complex and timelines tighter, the demand for highly skilled and reliable personnel has never been higher. Berry Recruitment, a leading recruitment agency with a focus on providing top-tier talent for both permanent positions and a temporary staff agency, shares insights on how companies can attract skilled workers in the construction sector.
1.       Understand the Skilled Workers’ Needs
The first step in attracting skilled workers is understanding what they are looking for in a job. Most skilled workers in the construction industry value competitive salaries, job security, opportunities for advancement, and a healthy work-life balance. Companies that are able to provide these benefits are more likely to attract and retain top talent.
2.       Build a Strong Employer Brand
An employer brand is essentially what your company is known for in the job market. A strong employer brand that promotes a positive work environment, career growth opportunities, and employee satisfaction can make your company more attractive to skilled workers. Berry Recruitment advises companies to invest in building their employer brand through various channels such as social media, company websites, and through the success stories of their current employees.
3.       Offer Competitive Compensation and Benefits
To attract skilled workers, companies must offer competitive compensation and benefit packages. This includes not just the base salary but also bonuses, health insurance, retirement plans, and other perks that can set your company apart from competitors. A construction recruitment agency like Berry Recruitment can provide valuable market insights to help determine competitive compensation packages.
4.       Invest in Training and Development
Skilled workers are often looking for opportunities to grow their skills and advance their careers. Companies that invest in training and development programs demonstrate a commitment to their employees' professional growth, making them more attractive to potential hires. These programs can range from on-the-job training to sponsoring certifications or advanced education in relevant fields.
5.       Leverage a Recruitment Agency
Partnering with a specialised recruitment agency can significantly streamline the process of attracting skilled workers. Agencies like Berry Recruitment have extensive networks and a deep understanding of the construction industry, enabling them to match the right candidates with the right opportunities efficiently. Moreover, they can handle much of the recruitment process, from sourcing to screening, allowing companies to focus on their core operations.
6.       Create a Positive Work Culture
A positive work culture is critical for attracting and retaining skilled workers. This includes promoting safety, teamwork, and open communication within the workplace. Workers want to feel valued and respected, and a positive work environment can be a significant draw for skilled professionals.
7.       Embrace Technology and Innovation
The construction industry is increasingly adopting new technologies and methodologies. Companies that are at the forefront of this innovation are more attractive to skilled workers who are looking to work on cutting-edge projects and use the latest tools. Embracing technology can also streamline your operations and make your projects more appealing to potential hires.
8.       Flexible Work Arrangements
Offering flexible work arrangements can be a significant attractor for skilled workers. This can include flexible hours, the option to work remotely when possible, and understanding the need for a work-life balance. While the nature of construction work may limit the feasibility of remote work, there are still ways to incorporate flexibility into your work arrangements.
Conclusion
Attracting skilled workers in the construction industry requires a multifaceted approach that addresses the needs and desires of these professionals. By understanding what skilled workers are looking for, building a strong employer brand, offering competitive compensation and benefits, investing in training and development, leveraging the expertise of a construction recruitment agency, creating a positive work culture, embracing technology, and offering flexible work arrangements, companies can significantly improve their ability to attract the top talent needed to succeed in today’s competitive construction industry. Berry Recruitment stands ready to partner with companies to navigate these challenges and secure the skilled workforce necessary for their success.

Tumblr media
“Hello?”
Yukichi’s greeting nearly catches in his throat during the scramble to press his phone against his ear, cold tips of his fingers touching the heat of his earlobe. The warmth only began after he recognized your name on the device’s screen
“I’m surprised you picked up,” you tease from the other end of the phone. Stepping into your apartment, you bend your calf and lean downward to unbuckle the tiny strap of your heeled shoe while leaning against the wall. Sighing, you let the balls and arches of your feet touch the ground and your next words come out in a tipsy flutter, something you simply cannot help. “What are you doing?”
He can almost smell the subtle and clean apple and lemon notes of your favorite wine if he closes his eyes and tries hard enough. The pair of you have shared a bottle on more than one occasion and he only stopped accepting your invitation to drink when he realized he struggled to control himself with each sip and minute passed staring at the fullness of your lips. You made him vulnerable in a way he will never be able to afford being. There is no reason he should’ve answered your call but here he is, eyes glancing downward while he considers what to say next.
“Working, as always.”
You giggle at his answer and he can tell you are probably at least four glasses of wine deep solely based on the pitch of your laughter. The sound of the gradual removal of all of your clothing is audible through the speaker of his phone and he sighs, reaching up to pinch the bridge of his nose between his thumb and forefinger. Fukuzawa has been around the block long enough to be familiar with what the rustle of clothing, the lowering of zippers, and the swish of bare thighs rubbing against one another sounds like.
“And here I was hoping you were having a little fun tonight,” you tease while plopping down on your sofa in nothing but your panties. Not that he knows that (and not that you’ll tell him) but it only further increases the hazy glow of your good mood and you kick your legs behind you while resting on your stomach. “What are you working on, Fukuzawa-san?”
Letting go of the bridge of his nose and dropping his hand back down to rest atop his desk, he debates simply hanging up and ending your game before it can truly begin. The man is well aware of what you are attempting to do with this call and as much as he is a man, he is a professional first. He does not want to get drunk with you, he doesn’t want to spend time outside of professional settings with you, yet…
“You know I cannot give you that information.”
A defeated groan from you makes the man chuckle and he shakes his head. This call needs to end if not now then in the next thirty seconds and his foot taps impatiently while he tries to come up with an excuse. You are too forthcoming, although you make a paltry attempt to seem respectable when you aren’t wine soaked and clearly eager to talk to him. It makes it hard to tell you no because you will simply pout then further disarm him with another borderline intrusive question he isn’t sure he wants to answer. You are an itch he wants to scratch but it would be an indulgence to do so, for better or worse.
“Awww, come on. I worked at the agency too.” Shaking his head again, he eyes the paperwork in front of him. Your time at the agency was both a spring breeze and a period of great stress for its President. “You were a temporary secretary who has never had a right to know privileged information.”
The staffing agency you worked for requested your return for another assignment and you parted from the Armed Detective Agency with bouquets of flowers and requests for future meetings or dinners with everyone working there nearly a year ago. You also slipped a thank you note containing glowing words for Fukuzawa and his staff with your phone number written at the bottom for good measure, in case the glimmer of interest you caught was just that.  Now here you both are, interchangeably wondering what the other thinks while keeping all the unsaid to yourselves.
Yukichi changes the subject rather than bothering to linger in the gray area of the unspoken.
“What are you up to? That seems like the more fascinating question to ask.”
Sighing, you shift and he hears it. He has never been to your apartment but given how relaxed he has seen you become at his home, he imagines you’re sprawled out somewhere or curled up in a pile of blankets, like a spoiled house cat which you tipsily admitted you felt you were more fit to be than a grown woman during your last catch up many months ago.
You’ve shared many, many things with him during tipsy evenings - your dreams of someday doing something meaningful with your life than fill-in secretary work, the past you’ve left behind, and your undeniable attraction to him being what encouraged you to poorly attempt to court him in the first place. All the reasons he decided to leave you be all those months ago.
“Oh, hmm…I had a few glasses of wine with a friend and on the way home, decided I wanted to catch up with you.”
A little piece of him wants to ask you to elaborate on the friend part although he isn’t entitled to such information. He reminds himself that he’s the one who decided to create distance between the two of you. This simple fact alone means he has no right to presume or ask or wonder.
“Lucky me,” he mutters sarcastically and you laugh raucously. He can picture the crinkle in your nose and your big smile all too easily and once more, he needs a reason to end this call. Can he pretend there is interference? Does that still work?
“I won’t keep you if you’re busy, I just missed the sound of your voice.” Another one of those terribly honest tipsy confessions and his grip tightens around his phone. Damn that loose tongue of yours. “I know we haven’t seen each other in a bit but I would love to catch up if you ever have the time.”
He hums and you know you are asking for more than he will give you, as usual. He took his space and you should have respected it despite the many occasions where your thumb lingered over his name. The temptation to call him and talk to someone who makes you feel understood has been almost too strong to overcome on several occasions, you've still managed to overcome. A lapse in judgment is all tonight was and his silence speaks volumes.
“I’m sorry for bothering you, I hope you have a good night and take care of yourself.”
Your voice grows distant while you yank the phone from your ear but noise from the other end makes you pause, raising a brow.
“Wait a minute.” You hear Fukuzawa’s request clear as day and stop from hanging up, gingerly pressing the phone back against your ear. “You don’t have to go but I would rather hear about you than talk about me.”
His mind is already filling in the blanks of your pout, remembering that you dislike being told no although it’s mostly for show.
“If you insist, Fukuzawa-san.”
Sighing, he wishes you’d stop using the formality. He wishes you’d stop calling, giggling, tempting yet he leans back in his chair with his eyes closed, mind greeting him with the vision of you.
A temptation he can’t afford yet is reluctant to deny himself.

Cascade (part 15)
Wherein we wrap this arc up, finally.
Fun fact: Koda would be able to identify a transformed shinobi as not-a-real-animal because his Quirk wouldn't work on them.
They sat in silence for a while, though Midoriya moved off his cot to gently rest his hand on Iida’s arm. Iida couldn’t really lean on him, but his breathing steadied after a little while. Midoriya’s mumbling was probably more a comfort than she’d ever manage.
Kei tried not to watch. She mostly ended up staring out the window, toward the not-so-distant column of smoke elsewhere in Hosu.
If she focused, she could feel Obito poking around the area, hopping from roof to roof with his chakra a guiding light in the dark. Whatever he wrote would probably cushion Kei’s report to Sensei, if only because she’d actually been there for all of the nonsense. Her smoldering humiliation leftover from the fight wasn’t his problem.
“Gekkō-san,” Iida asked after a while, drawing her gaze back to the rest of the room. “I…thank you. For trying to help.”
“That’s what heroes do.” Every word felt disingenuous at best. A canned, thoughtless phrase.
“Not that. I meant before. When you tried to give me a chance to talk,” Iida told her, still sounding low.
Oh. That. “I knew you were hurt,” Kei said, as neutral as she could manage. “People in bad places don’t always make the best decisions.”
“I believe I proved you incontrovertibly right.”
“Yeah, you did,” Kei admitted, watching Iida’s shoulders sink. She slid her way off the bed and finally crossed the space between their hospital beds, leaning so she could try and catch his downcast gaze. Only after she succeeded did she add, “But Iida-kun, you’re better than your worst day. It’s just up to you to go and prove it.”
“It sounds so simple when you say it like that,” Iida muttered, though the furrow between his brows had smoothed out.
“Maybe. But ‘simple’ and ‘easy’ aren’t the same thing.” Like surviving high school again without wanting to explode. Kei certainly failed at that one.
“We’re not heroes yet,” Midoriya offered, nudging Iida with his elbow. The uninjured one. “I think that means we don’t have to have everything figured out right now. And we’ll learn together. Right, Todoroki-kun?”
“Right.”
Eventually, visiting hours drew to a close. While Kei managed to wriggle her way out of having to stay in the hospital any longer, Iida was thoroughly trapped by his injuries. Instead, she took a (stealthy) rooftop route to Manual’s agency, checked in at the front desk to the sound of fussing night shift staff members, then went to her temporary room.
(Obito, partway through said route: “Hey! Rough night, huh?”
Kei, irritable and in the form of a feral cat, swiped at him.
“Okay, okay, we’ll catch up later.”)
The next day, Iida went home with his mom. Given the state of his arms, Kei figured the most strenuous item left on his to-do list for the week was to visit his brother’s hospital room. The most important was to avoid any and all news channels, because the Hero Killer incident (and Endeavor’s credited capture) seemed inescapable. The media wanted to dissect the psychology of a murdering shithead more than they wanted to investigate anything worthwhile. Every time she saw his smug jerk face on a TV screen, she wanted to punch it.
Somehow, her self-control held out.
Perhaps as a merciful stroke from some higher power, every single patrol without Iida was blessedly boring. Bereft of one intern, Manual tried to teach her the ins and outs of hero work when one’s patrol partner was currently unavailable. He even tried to console her about the dead Nōmu in the middle of the alleyway, which everyone also had decided was going to be attributed to Endeavor despite the knives in its brain. But in Kei’s view, his most important contribution to her education had nothing to do with that.
Instead, Manual helped Kei find the appropriate phrasing in Bureaucrat to tell her costume’s source company to go fuck themselves. She'd figure something out with the school's support department after taking shears to her costume as it was.
Midoriya, via text, offered to introduce Kei to the explosive and bubbly Hatsume Mei instead.
Figuring it could not actually be worse than the decorative obi that nearly got her stabbed in the face, Kei gave him permission. Encouragement, even. And the now-boring Hosu patrols gave Kei opportunities to text Power Loader’s under-eighteen nemesis about her upgrade ideas. While it did mean more of a paper trail, so be it. She wasn’t getting into another fight with that aesthetic-only nightmare ever again.
It also served as a decent distraction from the creeping realization that Isobu had been silent for days. Kei’s head wasn't supposed to be lonely.
But all of the internships did come to a quiet sort of end. Society rumbled beneath their feet, but so far, the volcano wasn’t smoking just yet.
Next up: End-of term final exams.

Is it your first time visiting Twisted Wonderland? If so, please allow us the honour to introduce our beautiful region to you! Whether you are planning your trip as a relaxing getaway or are looking to feel the thrill of watching our nation’s best battling it out, you are sure to find this region worth your time.
From the lush forests of Briar Valley over the impressive dunes of the Scalding Sands all the way to the azure depths of the Coral Sea, the region boasts not only awe-inspiring flora, but also various species of pokémon. You might recognise some of their names from your Pokédex, yet their appearance is guaranteed to surprise you. Yes, much like other regions, Twisted Wonderland is home to a few regional variants that we call ‘Twisted Forms’.
After a day’s worth of exploring everything the region has to offer, you can immerse yourself in the exciting atmosphere of a professional pokémon battle. Whether it is in the stands of one of our many stadiums or from the comfort of your temporary home through televised and online streams, watching the nation’s best give it their all is guaranteed to get your heart racing!
What sets the battles in Twisted Wonderland apart from those in other regions is the ability of strong trainers to use their Unique Magic to directly influence a battle. It’s a trainer’s innate talent that cannot be copied by anyone else and marks those who are able to use it as truly strong. It goes without saying that these abilities have the potential to change the flow of any battle and keep a match interesting until the very end!
Given the popularity of Pokémon battles as a sport, it should come as no surprise that many aspire to go professional and climb the League’s ranks. However, only a select few have what it takes. Sage Island is the epicentre of developing all things Pokémon-related. Not only is it home to the Pokémon League, the most prestigious academic institutions for aspiring young adults are located there as well.
Both Night Raven College and Royal Sword Academy, run by leading professors Dire Crowley and Ambrose LXIII, have the reputation of fostering a learning environment that consistently produces the strongest trainers of a generation. Furthermore, their students are also recognised in various other fields, such as the development and manufacturing of gadgets or the studies of types, attacks, abilities, evolutions and the like. Therefore it is not surprising many of them receive offers to go abroad for their internship to study under renowned professors and entrepreneurs from all over the world.
In fact, these institutions are so accomplished, they host the local Gym Challenge, which enables trainers outside the Top 10 to challenge the Elite Four in order to potentially qualify for the annual Champion’s Tournament. To determine which school gets the prestigious honour of putting forward the Gym Leaders, an exclusive tournament is held at the beginning of the season. For the past few decades, RSA has been able to clutch the win on the privilege of hosting the Gym Challenge.
Has your curiosity been piqued and your wanderlust set in? If so, the Twisted Wonderland Services and Tourism Centre eagerly awaits your timely arrival and looks forward to welcoming you to our beautiful region in person!

[ 📹 Smoke billowing out from buildings while the Israeli occupation army detonates entire residential squares the once housed countless civilian families in the Al-Shujaiya neighborhood, east of Gaza City, leaving Palestinians sleeping in unsafe housing, damaged and broken homes, hospitals and schools, before being driven out once again by the Zionist occupation army. 📈 Current death toll stands at 37'925, with another 87'141 wounded since October 7th. ]
🇮🇱⚔️🇵🇸 🚀🏘️💥🚑 🚨
ZIONIST ARMY COMMITS SEVERAL NEW MASSACRES IN GAZA AS ISRAELI OCCUPATION FORCES DESTROY ENTIRE NEIGHBORHOODS
The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) committed several new massacres today, acting in continuation of the Zionist entity's ongoing genocide and ethnic cleansing operation targeting the Palestinian population of the Gaza Strip.
According to reporting by Palestinian public broadcaster, PalestineTV, occupation fighter jets bombed a house in the city of Deir al-Balah, in the central Gaza Strip, killing 12 Palestinian civilians and wounding a number of others.
Medical sources say the Zionist army bombed the Aslim family home in Deir al-Balah, after which, the broken bodies of 12 civilians were brought to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah.
In another atrocity, IOF warplanes bombed residents in the Mansoura area of the Al-Shujaiya neighborhood, east of Gaza City, with the resulting wounded transported to Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital in the city. Once at the hospital, 12 Palestinians were pronounced dead on arrival.
Similarly, Zionist soldiers detonated entire residential blocks in the Shujaiya neighborhood, while another occupation air raid targeted east of the Al-Tuffah neighborhood of Gaza City.
In further war crimes, occupation aircraft launched violent airstrikes that targeted west of the city of Rafah, in the southern Gaza Strip, killing three Palestinians, while Israeli artillery shelling pummeled the same neighborhood, as well as central Rafah.
Local medical sources are reporting that the bodies of at least 31 martyrs have arrived to hospitals in the Gaza Strip since dawn on Tuesday.
In yet another massacre, Zionist warplanes bombed a residential house in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood of Gaza City, killing four Palestinians and wounding several others, while another civilian was wounded after the occupation army bombed a house east of Gaza City as well.
Evacuation orders from the Israeli occupation army for the European Gaza Hospital in Khan Yunis has resulted in the closure of the health center, forcing more than 320 patients, as well as all the hospital's staff, to leave the facilities under threat from the Zionist military, according to the Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), Dr. Tedros Ghebreyesus.
A fuel shortage has also left Gaza's remaining hospitals on the brink of disaster if they don't receive at least 80'000 liters of fuel per day, but they have not received a fuel delivery since the end of last month, when they received between 195'000 and 200'000 liters.
The situation means Gaza's handful of remaining hospitals are facing a fuel shortage that threatens to interrupt vital and basic services.
At the same time, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine (UNRWA) warned that some 250'000 civilians in Gaza will be displaced once again with the latest forced evacuation of Khan Yunis, at gunpoint by the Israeli occupation army, and warned that nowhere in Gaza is safe.
Many families have been displaced a multitude of times, each time forced to arrange temporary housing and facilities, only to be uprooted again and again.
Meanwhile, the United Nations Special Coordinator for Humanitarian Affairs and Reconstruction in Gaza, Sigrid Kaag, said on Tuesday that the "war has not only created a humanitarian crisis, but has also unleashed a spiral of human misery, as the public health system has collapsed, schools have been destroyed, and the disruption of the education system threatens future generations."
“In Gaza, there is no safe place,” she went on, adding that “on my visits to Gaza, I am greeted by voices echoing one heartbreaking question: Will our suffering ever end?”
The current death toll stands at 37'925 Palestinians killed, while another 87'141 others have been wounded as a result of the Zionist entity's ongoing war of extermination in the Gaza Strip, beginning with the events of October 7th, 2023.

29 August 2024.
UN World Food Programme Suspended in Gaza.
UN Spokesperson Steph Dujarric says a humanitarian vehicle which was part of a convoy in Gaza and fully coordinated with Israel, was struck by IDF gunfire 10 times yesterday evening and the two UN staff members onboard were only saved by the bulletproof glass.
A temporary suspension of activities across Gaza was announced after the vehicle was hit as it approached an Israeli military checkpoint.
Israel should be immediately revoked as a United Nations member and hit with the strongest possible sanctions.
This is Nazi Israel.

Six employees of New York City’s public school system took their children or grandchildren on trips to Disney World, New Orleans and other locations using tickets that were meant for homeless students, investigators said in a newly released report.
The trips intended as enrichment for students living in shelters and other temporary housing also included excursions to Washington, D.C., Boston and Broadway shows, said Anastasia Coleman, the special commissioner of investigation for New York City schools.
According to the report released this month, Linda Wilson, the Queens regional manager for the office that supports students in temporary housing, took her own children on trips that were paid for through grants for homeless students and encouraged employees she supervised to do the same but to keep quiet about it.
“What happens here stays with us,” one staffer quoted Wilson as saying.

Contacted by the New York Post, Wilson denied bringing her two daughters on trips or encouraging staff members to bring their children. Wilson called the special commissioner’s probe “a witch hunt.”
The investigation began after a whistleblower brought a complaint in March 2019. The special commissioner’s report, which concerned trips that took place between 2016 and 2019, was completed in January 2023 but only made public on Sept. 9.
The special commissioner’s office said in an emailed statement that the report was not released because of the pending administrative actions.
According to the report, Wilson forged permission slips to bring family members on trips and evaded city Department of Education oversight by using an outside agency to book travel arrangements.
Some of the trips were intended as college tours, but the students and chaperones never actually visited the campuses, witnesses told the investigators.
A group including Wilson and one of her daughters as well as other staff members and their children ate lunch at Syracuse University during a June 2018 trip but never toured the school, witnesses said. They left and went to Niagara Falls instead, according to the investigation.
The special commissioner’s office recommended that Wilson and the other staff members faulted in the report be fired and that they be required to reimburse the school system for their family members’ trips.
Wilson told the Post that she retired and was not fired.
Department of Education spokesperson Jenna Lyle said in a statement, “All staff identified in this report are no longer employed by New York City Public Schools.”

WTF
Bakugo x Kirishima x Reader (female)
Warning: Some cursing
“What do you mean I am being benched?” you yelled at the Commissioner as you paced around the room. “I am the top Hero here, Tsukauchi! Why the heck would you do this to me? Besides, you know you need me for the next mission!?” “We received intel on current situations that threaten your safety. It seems that you are being targeted by the League of Villains (LV) and your recent run-in with Dabi has all agencies on high alert.” Tsukauchi sat behind his desk rubbing his temples as if trying to relieve a headache. “OH?! (you exclaimed, stopping in your tracks) All agencies huh?” “Yes. All agencies.” You crossed your arms and gave him a side glance “So…which one gave you the intel?” “Dynamight’s.” “Dynamight?!” you slammed your hands on his desk “Y…yes.” You knew better than to be taking your frustration out on the man in front of you. This turn of events wasn’t his doing after all. He was just following protocol. You pinched the bridge of your nose in frustration and softly sighed “I see.” You turned to exit the Commissioner’s office “(Y/H/N)…wh…where are you going? This is only temporary. At least until we can figure out why the League is after you.” “You already know why. And don’t worry,  I’ll be back. Right after I set HIS ass on FIRE!!!!” With a confused look on his face, Tsukauchi watched as you let the door slam behind you “His ass? She doesn’t mean Dynamight’s…does she?”
No one at Hero Public Safety Commision (HPSC) knew of your current relationship with the #2 Hero Dynamight and the #8 Hero Red Riot. Due to your line of work, it was safer this way. Heck, other than Naomasa Tsukauchi, who had recently been elected President of the HPSC, no one even knew your true identity. The saddest part out of all this secrecy was that not even your own boyfriends knew just how powerful you were.
Your telekinesis quirk had manifested at an early age and it quickly caught the attention of the HPSC. Your quirk not only allowed you to move objects, but you could also manipulate matter at will. Your limitation was your own imagination. The HPSC approached your family with an offer to have you trained as a member of an elite group of heroes but you would need to keep your abilities a secret. You were allowed to attend UA as part of the General Studies course and that’s where you met the boys.
“UGH! DAMN YOU KATSUKI! Why the heck aren’t you answering your phone?” You threw your cell phone over to the passenger seat of your SUV. All your calls kept going to voicemail and he wasn’t reading any of your text messages. The staff at his agency wouldn’t tell you where he was, only that he wasn’t available. This of course was standard procedure. They don’t know your Dynamight’s girlfriend and as far as they’re concerned you could be a villain plotting to attack the #2 Hero.
Your heart was racing with anger as you pulled up to the front gate and saw thier cars parked in the driveway. Trying to keep your calm, you think back to the day on the lake when the three of you confessed your feelings for each other. How the heck do 3 best friends fall in love with one another. The thought still baffled you but the past year had been so amazing and now here you were sharing a home with them. Even though you had some reservation at first. Things had been going great up until 2 weeks ago when you were approached by the notorious villain, Dabi.
Your undercover job at the Hero Commission was working in the PR Department. You were at a mall signing with some sidekicks and that’s where Dabi saw you. He was scoping the scene to gain intel for the LV and took a liking to you. He had no clue who you were, much less that you were a Secret Agent for the HPSC or in a relationship with the #2 and #8 Heroes. He managed to corner you behind the stage and struck up a conversation. Before you knew it he was trying to recruit you into the League of Villains and then tried kidnapping you when you refused. After a brief scuffle which led to a fight between him and the present Heroes, he escaped and you managed to walk away with only a few minor burns. However, the whole ordeal freaked out your overprotective boyfriends and for the past few weeks they have been pushing you to quit your job and stay home where they could keep you safe. Their lack of faith in your abilities has made you bitter towards them but then how could you blame them, they don’t know what you’re capable of.
You rush into the house and are quickly greeted by Kirishima hugging you. “Hey baby! You’re home early. Wha…what are you wearing?” In your rush to get home to confront Katsuki you forgot to change out of your hero costume. “Ummm…Nevermind that…where is HE?!?!” “Bakugo?” “YES! Bakugo! Where the HELL is he?!” “Baby are you ok? You seem a little agitated.” “OH! I seem a little agitated. I am way passed agitated! Where the FUCK is he RED?!” “Ummm…baby??” You push a stunned Kirishima aside and head to the outdoor training facility. He chased after you, but to his surprise you were so much faster than him. At this point you are so angry that you are no longer in control of your quirk and flames start to spread all over your body.
You smash the doors to the training facility “BAKUGO KATSUKI!!!!” You have now unleashed the full power of your quirk and are flying high engulfed in flames. Bakugo is staring at you in horror and disbelief. “Princess??? You…you…can fly? What the CRAP!?” You start shooting flames and hurling nearby objects at him simultaneously. “Baby Girl? What the…? Stop…you idiot.” He tries to dodge your attacks but one after another you land them all. You manage to pin him under a boulder, knocking him unconscious. “(Y/N)!!!!” Kirishima finally runs in “STOP!!!! What are you doing? You’re going to kill him!” and with those words you look down to where Katsuki is lying. The shock of what you have just done over takes you and you collapse to the ground in tears. “Katsuki? I…I…I’m sorry.” You lift the boulder off of him as Kirishima rushes to his side.
“Is…is he ok?” “He’s unconscious. We need to get him to the hospital. He might have head trauma.” “What?” “Com’on.” Kirishima lifts him up in one swoop and the two of you rush to the car. You climb in the back seat of the truck and Kiri places Bakugo in your lab. “Katsuki…babe…I am so sorry. Please be ok. I didn’t mean to…” You say softly as your tears fall onto his face. “Baby…please…I am sorry. Please…I was just so angry.” “(Y/N), what the hell is going on? What was that? I’ve never seen you display that type of power before. Where did that come from?” “This is my power.” you reply with a heavy sigh and tears streaming down your face. “What?” “Kiri…please just get us to the hospital. I’ll explain everything later.” “Ok baby but…um…I am not going to lie…uh…I am pretty terrified of you right now.” “I’m pretty terrified of myself too. (you look down at Katsuki) Baby…can you hear me?” He opens his eyes slightly “Princess…you dumbass…what the heck was that?” “OH BABY! Shhhhh…don’t talk. We are taking you to the hospital. I am sooooo sorry.”
Once at the hospital, Bakugo is quickly taken in to see a healer. You and Kirishima are sitting across from each other in the waiting room. Normally he would be all over you in situations like this but after what he just witnessed, he’s been keeping his distance and you don’t blame him. Your phone rings “Hey. I am at the hospital. Can you come meet me here? Great. Thanks.” “Who was that?” “The Commissioner.” “What? Why is he calling you?” You don’t respond to Kirishima’s questions. The nurse walks in “He has been asking for you both. You can go in and see him now.” You walk in silence to his room. Kirishima walks in first. “Katsuki! Are you ok babe?” “Yeah…shity hair…I am fine. Where is (y/n)?” You step out from behind Kirishima. “Hey.” “Hey? Is that all you have to say to me?” He is angry but not as angry as you expect. “What the FUCK was that? Since when do you have that kind of power?” “I was angry at you. You had me benched.” “What? What do you mean I had you benched?” “Your agency. They called the HPSC and had me benched.” “Princess…you’re going to need to do some more explaining than that because I don’t have a fucking clue as to what you're talking about Dumbass and what the HECK are you wearing!” Just then, Naomasa Tsukauchi walks in. “(Y/H/N)?” “It’s ok, Tsukauchi. You can call me by my real name here.” Bakugo and Kirishima are both staring at you in confusion. “Um (y/n)…why is the Commissioner here and why did he just call you (Y/H/N)?” “Because that’s my Hero name.” Bakugo and Kirishima are both staring at you with a look of confusion “WHAT THE FUCK?!!!”
