Mo Xuanyu is married to the Second Jade of Lan.
Song Lan had known she’d married into the Lan – it was obvious – but he’d thought it was some not so bright cultivator that had been bewitched by her pretty face, or possibly literally bewitched, which he’d already decided wasn’t any of his damn business. If some stupid Lan wants a terrifying and amoral demonic cultivator for a wife, then good luck to them. Except they obviously don’t know she’s a demonic cultivator, considering their clan’s history with the original. But again, not his business, not his problem. His first priority is Xiao Xingchen and if Mo Xuanyu is going help him, then he really doesn’t care about who she’s terrorizing in her spare time.
Except it appears he’d underestimated her.
Because she’s apparently Jin Xuanyu now, legitimized and married off to the second most eligible bachelor in the cultivation world, superseded only by his brother who’s been unofficially off the market for over a decade.
Hanguang Jun had lived as a widower and Song Lan had been convinced he was going to die as one. Uncharitably, he wonders if maybe Lan Wangji just has a type, then feels bad about it in the next moment.
She orders Sect Leader Lan around and he lets her. She glares Hanguang Jun down.
To say absolutely nothing of the way she’d taken down Xue Yang. And then given him that dubious honor of taking credit for the kill, likely because she didn’t want to try and explain to her family how she’d managed it.
She had been clever and dangerous as a teenager. She’s managed to vault herself from disgraced bastard daughter to wife of the heir to the Lan and the legal mother to the third in line who will likely be the one actually succeeding Lan Xichen.
Jin Xuan – Xuanyu is a friend. She has very firmly shown herself to be a friend, helping him and protecting Xiao Xingchen and showing what certainly looks like genuine kindness to the girl who’d helped them, A-Qing.
Possibly she’s done all this to ensure their silence over what she used to be, what she is, but if so then it’s been successful. Betrayal would be a poor repayment for everything she’s done. The Lan hadn’t helped him or Xiao Xingchen. She had. The Lan can take care of themselves and if they can’t withstand the machinations of one woman, they deserve what they get.
Xiao Xingchen hasn’t said much, and Song Lan owes him so many apologies, but not here in front of everyone. He at least agrees to fly with him without much fuss. It will be difficult for him to fly with all three of them for any significant distance, but A-Qing asks Xuanyu to fly with her and she agrees with a smile.
Lan Sizhui doesn’t seem particularly thrilled, but he apparently is far too respectful of his step mother to disagree with her.
They’re flying back the inn when Xiao Xingchen presses himself back against his chest and tilts his head back to say, “Song Lan.”
It’s been so long since he’s heard Xiao Xingchen say his name. He has to swallow before he says, “Yes?”
“That’s,” he starts, then stops. “Who was that?”
“Who?” he asks. “We’re traveling with the Lans.”
“The woman,” he says.
His lips tug down into a frown but he tries not to panic. He’s been under charms to confuse and dull his senses for months. “That was Mo Xuanyu.”
If he’s already confused, getting into her legitimization probably won’t help anything.
Xiao Xingchen is silent for a few more moment. Then he asks, “Are you sure?”
What on earth. “Who else would she be?”
“She moves like – and sounds – but. It can’t. She’s – different,” he says.
As wonderful as it is to hear him speaking, Song Lan wishes he were saying less worrying things. “It’s been a long time since we saw her last. She’s grown up and married. Of course she’s different.” He squeezes his arms around Xiao Xingchen’s waist, hoping it’s not too presumptuous when they haven’t discussed anything yet. “It’s okay, after everything that’s happened this all must feel very sudden. Xuanyu is the one that found you. We can trust her.”
He thinks they can trust her. They can trust her more than any other sect cultivator, which granted isn’t saying much.
Xiao Xingchen relaxes against him. “Alright. If you say so.”

This is a part of a crossover fic I'm writing, a meeting between bingqiu
The fic will be mainly focused on hualian, but the idea is that Xie Lian, Shen Yuan and Lan Wangji are researchers and their men are supernatural entities
I will need a lot of time to finish the whole thing and this passage might change a bit, but I think it works on it's own right now. It's a bit spooky, too!

Several years ago I was forced to get rid of an entity, then known as F0518. It was a creature capable of creating illusions, but not trapping people inside. It used the form of a teenager and claimed to be fourteen years of age. However, it looked just like A0517, which gege spent years hunting and running from. They had some history I'm not aware of.
When the entity turned eighteen, gege became convinced that it was hiding its dangerous power and manipulating me to then use me in some nefarious plot. He had some odd ideas about its feelings for me which I won't repeat. He was going to destroy it, but I couldn't let him kill something that resembled a child so much. So I pretended to do it myself, wounding it, but making sure it can survive after a long healing process. I realize how irresponsible that was, but there is no use in disciplining me, as he found me already and will make sure that I know I made a mistake.
Which I don't regret. He was a child.
Yesterday, I was going home late, and turned to a dark alley I know very well. I can avoid every obstacle there blindfolded, which is why I was very confused when I bumped into something. I thought it was a dog at first, but upon further inspection, it turned out to be a small child, standing in the middle of the road and crying. I crouched to ask him what happened, but the kid didn't answer, just grabbed my sleeve and started bawling. Children were always my weakness. I spent several minutes trying to calm him down. I tried sign language, but it didn't work, the kid just got scared that I was trying to shake his hand off my coat. So I scooped him up and left the alley, to at least get a good look at his face and check if he had anything to identify him by. As I walked, my heartbeat slowly gathered speed. The alley was too long. I knew it was supposed to end already, but blamed the fact that I now had a passenger for the tricks my mind played on me.
With a creeping suspicion, I turned left at the end of the alley, and I didn't know where I was anymore. I couldn't let the child feel that something went wrong, so I stubbornly kept going straight ahead. I've been through encounters like this before, they were usually just inconvenient, but not dangerous. The senior Luo Binghe made my paths to gege's house longer just to annoy him sometimes.
As you can guess, I was slowly realizing who caught me this time. It's been three years, after all. I didn't want to run, because it would scare the child, so when I saw the light, I just walked faster. I knew it was a trap, but hoped that I would at least be able to get the kid out before anything bad happened, and that could only be achieved by letting Luo Binghe have his way. He can't tolerate when things don't go as he wanted, and it might partially be my fault.
When I reached the light, the child turned his head to face me. There was something unnatural in the way he moved, in the speed and angle. He looked at me, unblinking, no expression on his face.
“Shizun,” he said. “I miss you.”
I dropped the child and made several steps back, but running was useless in the realm controlled by him. The child's body shifted, as if his bones were breaking and growing and rearranging under his skin. I took another step back, but tripped and fell. For some reason, Binghe put a blanket under me before I hit the ground.
He looked just like the senior one, standing in front of me. He was even taller than when I last saw him, which I didn't think was possible, dressed in several layers of a black old-fashioned hanfu, with long curly hair and a handsome face. Not sure if it's important. Entities aren't usually handsome, from my experience.
The darkness around us turned into an interrogation room, which he sometimes used as a joke when I tried to ground him for something. Didn't expect this room to horrify me, but the gray walls made me feel trapped. The light was dirty and yellow, blinking from time to time, and it made my eyes hurt, the air was stuffed and dusty. The blanket stayed, though. I can't fully understand his actions, even now.
“Aren't going to run? Good,” Binghe chuckled, leaning on the table. “Let's talk like adults, then.”
I didn't have the energy for this. Walking this much wasn't very good for a chronically ill body like mine, and I was already tired after work. So I said:
“Just kill me and we can all move on."
He threw a chair at the wall, and it shattered into pieces.
“You were the one who tried to kill me!” He screamed.
Suddenly, the illusion was broken, and I was left standing in the middle of the alley, completely alone. Nothing odd happened since then.
If I disappear, I beg you to burn this paper before gege can find it and murder everyone involved.

No simping in the Cloud Recesses!!
I received permission to write a ficlet based off this amazing post by the lovely @lovewanxian and this is the result. They're working on their own fic on the same premise, so make sure to give them some love when they post it <3
I had a lot of fun writing this and drank a lot of water to quench the thirst. It didn't work, but I highly recommend hydration - and have fun!
Lan Sizhui is suffering.
Now before you get up in arms about who to kill, it's not that kind of suffering. Nobody's trying to kill him and Lan Jingyi's pranks have yet to land him in the infirmary - the suffering that's plaguing Lan Sizhui is spiritual.
No, it's not a qi deviation, although he is quite sure he's heading that way far too quickly for his age and skill level. And he didn't get cursed either - hm, well, that's debatable in the circumstances - but the point is, his suffering isn't caused by anything that's related to cultivation or any outside interference.
Lan Sizhui is suffering because all his friends are simping.
But that's normal teenage boy behavior, you might argue. Teenagehood is, virtually, the best age to simp, it's basically in the job description for the ages between 13 and 19.
Fair, but Lan Sizhui's friends are simping over Senior Wei, who is twice their age, married and one of Sizhui's beloved father figures. See the issue yet?
Imagine all your friends do all day is lament over how much they want your dad to "punish" them, how hot his ghostly cultivation is and how much they wish he'd turn them into fierce corpses - Sizhui suffering makes sense now, doesn't it?
And he's been through this before. His friends' first crush has largely been Hanguang-Jun. Understandable - Sizhui has eyes, and he can admit he's attractive, objectively speaking.
To Sizhui, he's been the closest thing to a parent for many years, so thinking of him as anything less is weird - but facts are facts. Hanguang-Jun is powerful, domineering, but kind and supportive. These are all attractive features.
Sizhui has long grown used to Jingyi fangirling over him, and to the self-insert fic black market he ran out of their room from ages 12 to 15. He's done handstands for days to atone for it, and has made peace with it.
Of course, all juniors have kept some degree of Hanguang-Jun worship and, as the female disciples put it, "fanny flutters", but the crushing has evolved into admiration rather than infatuation and Sizhui only has to deal with number one Hanguang-Jun stan fluttering over his dad.
And then Senior Wei came about and Sizhui's peace of mind has gone to hell.
Disclaimer for all of you clutching your pearls right now: Sizhui loves Senior Wei very much and is infinitely grateful to have him back, has even slipped and called him "baba" a few times. The problem doesn't lay with Senior Wei at all.
The problem lays with the entirety of the Lan junior population (please let it be just the juniors, if the seniors simp over Senior Wei too, Sizhui's going to defect) being shameless about a man that's treated them as nothing less than his unofficially adopted children.
And how do they show their gratitude? By lusting over him and moaning about how lucky Hanguang-Jun is to bed him every night.
Lan Sizhui is suffering.

Lan Wangji is suffering.
No, he isn't dying, cursed, qi deviating or having to sit through sect leader Yao's rants - he's being Wei Ying's teacher assistant for his introductory talisman course.
It may sound confusing - how could that be a cause for suffering? Lan Wangji loves his husband and being around him, finds his inventions fascinating and likes helping him. So what's the issue?
The issue is that literally nobody in that whole entire classroom is paying any attention to the lesson. Sword to their neck, he is positive neither of them would be able to recall not even the past five minutes of talisman theory.
But ask them anything about Wei Ying and they'd rant for hours. And Lan Wangji doubts it would be a respectful rant.
Because the Lan juniors may not be paying attention to talismans, but by God are they paying attention to their teacher. Lan Wangji can virtually see the hearts in their eyes and the bloodflow directing down south - and he hates it. Wei Ying is being such a thorough teacher, he's putting his heart and soul into it, but his class seems fascinated only with the robes he wears, the way he moves, and they nearly break their necks to look at him when he turns his back to write something on the blackboard.
(Okay, Lan Wangji does too, sue him, that's his husband, he's allowed.)
Point is, these kids are entirely undisciplined. Lusting after seniors is not explicitly forbidden in the rules, but Lan Wangji is going to suggest his uncle adds it to the list. This way, he can hand harsh punishments fairly. Nobody is allowed to have horny thoughts about his husband except for him.
And it's not like the kids are being subtle about it either.
Here's an exmple.
Wei Ying's just finished demonstrating the penmanship for a banishing talisman, and encouraged the students to try it themselves, as he would walk among them and offer help where needed.
Everyone - everyone except Sizhui and Jingyi - needed help. Even those that Lan Wangji knew to be specialized in talisman work.
Everyone needed Senior Wei to take their hand in his, lean closely and direct their brush strokes. Everyone needed to be spoken to softly and encouraged to try again.
Lan Wangji has broken two brushes already and he's probably going to move to breaking fingers next.
One of the students, Lan Yichen, Hanguang-Jun's third favorite after his two ducklings (yes, they're his favorites, no, nobody knows and this doesn't cloud his judgement, yes, they're his ducklings), raised his hand and called for "teacher Wei" (Lan Wangji glares his way, but of course the little horny bastard has no time to look anywhere but at Wei Ying).
"What's wrong?" Wei Ying very obliviously asks and Lan Wangji feels the wood of his third brush crack in his grip.
"I really don't know why this talisman won't burn correctly..." Lan Yichen whines, looking up at his senior through his lashes, pathetic and submissive.
Lan Wangji will have him copy the rules about propriety fourty times.
Wei Ying looks over his shoulder at his talisman, and doesn't see the way the boy leans into his scent just a little bit, his cheeks dusting red at the close contact.
Lan Wangji fights the urge to grip Bichen. He can't kill a kid. Come on.
Wei Ying takes the brush from his hand and glides it once over the talisman paper. He smiles encouragingly at Yichen, who's managed to make himself look borderline tearful. "Let's try it together now."
"T-Together?"
Lan Wangji is a strong man. Self-disciplined, in control. He doesn't know how much longer he'll be able to stop himself from - what was the word Jingyi used... ah yes - yeeting that young man all the way to his home sect.
"I'll send in some of my spiritual energy, and you send in the rest. Let's see if anything cool happens, yeah?"
The boy looks like he's won the lottery. Lan Wangji can see it behind the sopping wet cat look. The brush in his hand is halfway broken now.
The talisman lights up blue and dissipates.
"Wow!" Lan Yichen shouts, as if he hasn't been using talismans for the past 5-7 years of his cultivation career. "You're so good at this, teacher Wei!"
Wei Ying laughs and pats the boy's head before returning to his teaching desk. Behind him, the boy looks like he's just ascended. Or had an orgasm.
Either way, Lan Wangji breaks his brush in little smithereens and tries talking himself out of murder.
"These kids are so distracted today." Wei Ying sighs. "I knew I shouldn't have taken you with me, all they do is look at you."
It takes all Lan Wangji has not to side eye his husband.

Lan Sizhui walks into his room after having tea with his dads - they always have tea together before night hunts, a little ritual to lift their spirits and... well, for a last memory if something bad happens. It's a risk of the job, after all, though it's highly unlikely, considering how powerful both Hanguang-Jun and Senior Wei are.
So, Sizhui happily returns to his room to get ready and finds several of his friends all over the place, looking much like the backstage to a courtesan show. Some are struggling on deciding which robes to put on, others fight for natural light to powder their faces and the rest struggle with hairstyles.
"Hello, people who do not live here. Where's Jingyi?"
"Getting scolded for calling sect leader Nie cunty to his face at the last discussion conference." One of the boys, Lan Haoran, answers, blending the powder into his skin to hide acne scars. "He's not allowed to come to the night hunt with us."
"That's a compliment." Sizhui replies, and barely manages to reach his wardrobe for clothes in the mess.
"Tell that to teacher Lan Qiren."
"Anyway, what are you guys doing here?"
"Getting ready for the night hunt, duh!" Another, Lan Lixin, says, fixing a golden hairpiece in his bun.
"And since when does night hunting entail a makeover?"
"You want us to look like shit with Senior Wei around?!" Lan Tao exclaims, emerging from the bathroom in a delicately ornate set of light blue robes. "We have to look presentable."
Sizhui rolls his eyes. "You know he only has eyes for Hanguang-Jun."
"It's worth a try." Lan Lixin says, taking a final look in the mirror. "And anyway, last time he said he liked my hairpin, so what more could a man want from life?"
Sizhui takes in a deep breath to calm down. "And why are you lot here instead of your own rooms?"
"Your room has the best lighting." Lan Haoran responds. "God, I really need to invest in some skincare."
"Anyways, do you guys think we'll get to see Senior Wei control the Ghost General this time?" Lan Tao asks.
There are three dreamy sighs in response.
"I wish he'd control me like that. He wouldn't even need Chenqing, I'd just do anything he wanted stat."
"Same. I love when he gets all serious, I'd love him to get like that with me~"
"You guys realize I'm right here, right?"

Wei Ying saves his third Lan junior of the night and he's starting to grow tired. Of course, he doesn't expect them to be able to take on a night hunt independently and succeed at it, he's quite sure they've never been so uncoordinated before.
The strings of the guqin vibrate loudly and the fierce corpses kneel, growling in pain. Wei Ying rushes to pluck yet another child from their grasps and sends a burst of resentful energy their way. "It's alright, I got you."
The boy in his arms whines and hides further in Wei Ying's chest. He didn't get hurt that badly, but Wei Ying figures it must have been terrifying for him to be nearly torn into, so his reaction is understandable.
He gently lays the boy against a tree, wipes some dirt off his face and sends him a reassuring smile. "It's all right now, you're safe."
"Thank you, senior Wei..."
Lan Wangji rolls his eyes as his fingers move over the guqin. Who knew the Lan have so many aspiring actors in their ranks?
Wei Ying lifts Chenqing to his lips and a shrill tune fills the silence. The fierce corpses writhe at the sound, and, holding the flute with one hand, Wei Ying sends three talismans to immobilize them.
A nod is all it takes for Hanguang-Jun to send Bichen their way.
"Wow..." the "injured" juniors exclaim, eyes fixated on senior Wei, his eyes glowing red and expression determined.
Sizhui, who's unfortunately been delegated to tend to their wounds, fastens a bandage a bit too hard on one of his friends, pulling his attention away.
"You lot are being ridiculous. You could've gotten killed."
Lan Tao clutches his arm, eyes full of horny ideas as he stares at the way Senior Wei sends resentful tendrils towards the fierce corpses. "I wonder what else he can do with those."
"You know what, I'm going to kill you myself actually."
"What's your issue, Sizhui? It's not like it's our fault senior Wei is a DILF." Lan Lixin huffs.
"I do not want to know what that means."
"It means dad I'd like to fu-"
Lan Lixin finds his lips glued together. Hanguang-Jun sends him an icy look. "Stop talking. Conserve your energy."
"Serves you right." Sizhui mumbles. "I was wondering when Hanguang-Jun will do something about you horn dogs."
Lan Lixin glares meaningfully at him, but Sizhui pretends not to see it.
"You guys need to stop thirsting after my family. Hanguang-Jun, now Senior Wei, who's next, the Ghost General?"
The boys appear to actually be considering the possibility and Sizhui barely stops himself from liberally smacking the backs of their heads.
At least Hanguang-Jun and Senior Wei have slain all the fierce corpses, and the night hunt is over.
If he has to see his friends act so pathetic for attention again, Sizhui is going to just jump in horde of fierce corpses sword-less.

"Ahh, Lan Zhan, you were even more beastly than usual today!" Wei Ying whines as he takes his rightful place on his husband's chest. "I'm not complaining, of course, but what brought this on?"
Lan Wangji decides not to answer, placing a possessive arm around Wei Ying's waist underneath the covers. "Mine."
"Yours, always." Wei Ying leaves a soft kiss on Lan Zhan's neck. "Hey, did you set up the silencing talismans before we started? I don't remember anymore."
"...yes."
Wei Ying hums and burrows further into Lan Zhan's chest, pliant and sleepy. "Good, good, we would've probably kept the whole inn awake if you hadn't."

The juniors' dark eyebags the next morning and their refusal to look either of their seniors in the eyes is peculiar.
But who can understand the youth these days, really?

So, this is my first post, so hello everyone! I don't really know how to properly navigate this platform just yet, but I'm sure I will figure it out, so please bear with me.
Having said that, unfortunately, I've come here today to rant a little on social media about things that make me borderline insane just from listening to. Most specifically, from MTXT's works. (Because if I ever see another wrong characterization for those fictional people I've became very attached to, I'm actually going to go mad.)
(This is not meant to be an attack of any sorts, I'm just a teenager on social media pulling my nerves into writing because who knows, maybe I can finally be at peace then.)
Let's start then!
Xie Lian is not owo small cutie or sum, and if I hear that one time... my man may be short, but he could fight off almost anyone, just thanos clapping people out of existence. He's also very insane and very horny about the Calamity attached to his hip. My guy is pretty smart and also just kinda gives patient auntie vibes (you know, that auntie that can see beyond everyone's bull but choses not to).
And if I already started with TGCF, may as well continue with it. Hua Cheng is a switch and you can't convince me otherwise. (If his Dianxia wanted to top, he would be as elated as he would be if Dianxia wanted to bottom. My man doesn't care.)
Luo Binge being referred as a white lotus and people not knowing what it means ("In Chinese internet novels, the term "white lotus" refers to a character who appears innocent, naive, and pure on the surface but uses this reputation to backstab, blame, or sling mud on others.") (I believe maybe people confuse this with the other meanings of the white lotus, like, actually naive or pure in character, but those are obliviously not what they mean in the chinese novels)
Shen Yuan is Kim Dokja, but chinese (or maybe KD is SY but korean)
Lan Wangji did not like Wei Wuxian despite him being 'evil', he loved him exactly because he isn't evil. I can't stress this enough. If wwx was a actually bad person, lwj would not hesitate to cut his head off and be done with the matter. Whenever I see someone saying something about him liking wwx even if he's evil, I'm slowly loosing my mind, bcz no, lwj is not such a shallow person, to be attracted to someone based purely on looks (and we do know this bcz he loves wwx in mxy's body just as much as he loved him in his original body.)
Now, we're moving into a territory I like exploring. I just want to start this off saying that I don't like Jiang Wanyin. I just don't care very much about him and I find him annoying as a person. With that being said, I'm a little miffed with fellow jc dislikers bcz they sometimes invent some things up about him or such shenanigans. Like. Man, you do not need to invent things to hate abt him, there are already plenty of them. I'm pretty unbiased when it comes to actual judgements about others. I will protect someone if the points made about them is incorrect as much as I will point out every thing they actually did bad.
And the next point is still abt jc (wow, what a surprise) just bcz, honest to god, a lot of his fans are straight up annoying. I've said it. A lot of y'all are hella annoying. (Not to say that there exist a lor of annoying fans for other characters, it's just that jc has a very high number of them) Some of the ones I don't find bad are those that like him just becouse of how bad of a person he is. I can respect that. What I can't respect is another owo he's innocent and traumatized and a tsundere and everything is wwx's fault owo jc fan. Fam, did we read the same book, or has media really rotten our colective brain that much??
(I believe I have more comments on this jc topic, but my brain is starting to hurt.)
And the last one is Wei Wuxian, probably the most controversial character in all of MTXT's novels. First of all, I have to be clear about this, but in all of this post, I'm purely referring to the characters from the books, not the other adaptations. This is important, bcz the adaptations further skewed wwx's image in the fandom.
I have saved him for least because of just how much things tick me off in this fandom when discussing wwx in special.
Disclaimer that I sincerely believe that you should enjoy and do art and fanfiction of characters however you want. If you want wwx to be, idk, a demon that terrorizes people and breaks lwj's heart and then jc comes and saves the situation from the evil patriarch and then french kisses Lan Xichen, then go ahead, idc (Unless you say he's owo, you have no excuse that would allow you to do that unless you're a child, and if you are, then you shouldn't even be here). But I draw the line when people lie about canon characterizations.
And there is just so much misconceptions on wwx's character that I would need an essay just to compose a list of them. They range from huge details that somehow miss people like how their neurons miss firing, to small details, like his handwriting (I believe the novel said it was cursive, not messy, like how almost all the fandom has apparently mutually agreed on. Do corect me if I'm wrong on this, some things are lost from translation to translation)
I will be discussing just some of them here. Maybe I will do another post where I go in more detail, we will see.
ADHD Wei Wuxian. The people that believe wwx has ADHD should probably reread the novel, bcz that characterization comes mostly from CQL. In the novel, wwx is a very chill guy that can stay in one place perfectly fine. I will not go into more details, just read the novel.
Wei Wuxian is the reason for the Jiang's collapse. Bull statement, everytime I see it, well, I go a little more insane. If you know a little politics, you would realize the Jiangs were next on the list for sure. Why, you would ask. The Lans already burnt themselves to the ground. The Nies have a fortress for a sect. The Jins are almost-not-exactly allies with the Wens. Now, guess who is the most unfavorably positioned gentry sect (lakes are not a good strategic spot), with lax protection (how did the Wens just march in like that like what) and a little too carele leader (Jiang Fenmiang really thought the Wens will give them back the swords after that whole disaster that was the indoctrination? Really??). Oh! I think I know who it is! And maybe you guessed it too. Glad we're on the same page.
Now, wwx being the reason why jc lost his core. Very many people already came to their own conclusion on why jc gave himself up. Brotherly affection, suicidal thoughts or just straight up idiocy. Whatever you believe, it's fine with me (but I do have a brother and I can assure you, wwx and jc never really seemed like brothers to me. They are a little too far to the left to be considered brothers, but this is my opinion, take it however you will). So, was it wwx's fault?
We're finally getting into the juicy stuff. The blame game. I hate it with my being, still, as long as I'm in fandoms, I must persist. My answer is yes & no. Did wwx deliberately made it so jc would be captured? Of course not. Did it still happened? Unfortunately, yes. To go deeper, we will look a little at fate. There are some things that are outside of our control. As much as we prepare, some things will still blow us over. So the definite answer is no. Jc made the decision to be seen by the Wens. It might sound callous , but the decisions you make are yours, even if you protect someone's life or not. Wwx did not ask to be protected. In conclusions, it's not his fault.
And that is a very good statement to make, seeing as we got to the core transfer. People often criticize wwx for giving non-consensualy his core to jc. I always thought it as a weird thing to hate him about, but whatever, I still shall address it. I will start with an exemple. If you loved someone very much, and they would die if they don't get, idk, a new arm (maybe think of something less inconspicuous, but you understand the ideea) they would die. You are the single person that can do it. But you're sure that if someone told your loved one that you would give it, they would refuze it. Are you still going to give your arm? Will you let your loved one die? Knowing that you can help?
And for those that say jc was not on the brink of death. He was suicidal. He would not have resisted a week with the shame of inferiority plus all the trauma that the Lotus Pier massacre was, combined. 'Regaining' his core might have actually made him feel better, like he beat the odds, like he has another chance. That's also why wwx never told him he gave him his core. Bcz he knew jc would not take it easy, finding out that all his accomplishments were thanks to wwx's sacrifice. Because jc has a big ego that's clearly evident through the story.
Anyways, let's continue.
Ghostly Cultivation. It's more popularity used the Demonic Cultivation term, but they are not the same think for Christ's sake. Modao Zushi does mean The Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation, however the title is for click bait. In the actual novel, I believe wwx talks abt ghostly cultivation, not demonic. It was probably lost in translations.
I don't think I need to explain how wwx needed guidao to escape the Burial Mounds, so at least half of my job is already done. Now I go into dangerous territory however, bcz guidao is not expended upon. Still, I would rather listen to wwx when it's about, you know, the path he himself created?
To explain my stance, we would need to go deeper into the novel's points. A novel can have multiple themes, ranging from obvious ones, like love, family, to obscure ones, like, the importance of standing up for oneself (not the best exemple, but I believe y'all understand what I mean).
I'm someone that loves thinking abt MDZS. It's my dearest. So, I tend to analyze it pretty often. And the themes I usually get are things like 'the danger of hearsay and mob mentality', 'the importance of standing true to your ideals', 'the inherit unpredictability of life' and so on, and so on.
Anyways, what does that have to do with guidao? Well, everything, I believe. The MDZS world has a mentality resembling that of the curent China. Or well, the China of when MXTX wrote the novel. If you know some history, I believe you can connect the similarities. What does that mean then?
Wwx is someone that does not fallow the path set by the ancestors. He creates his own. When the cultivators see that, they are revolted. Becouse everything that strays from the 'right' path must surely be evil. And so, after Wen Ruohan, the Jins paint him as the new anarchist, and the rest is history.
Now, I would actually love to continue, but I've been typing nonstop for hours now, I need to stop. I will continue my points in another post, bcz I still have a lot of them.

One thing Nie Huaisang had learned over the years was that things could always go worse, and did so quite frequently.
That cursed wedding was a perfect example of that.
By the time he'd been informed of the engagement, too many other people had known about it to quietly cancel it. Not that it would have been easy at the best of times, considering this involved sect leader Ouyang. The man was many things, but he wasn't completely stupid. Qinghe Nie wasn't what it had once been, but enough of its old glory remained for this to be an advantageous alliance, even without knowing the truth about Nie Fuyun.
Such a good deal, in fact, that Nie Huaisang had worried the girl had been tricked… But when he'd asked her, she had defended her new fiancé. He really had been hurt, and was very apologetic about what happened.
If Nie Fuyun hadn't been tricked by the Ouyang sect, the plot may well have come from within instead.
Nie Huaisang had already noticed that some elders had gotten into the habit of interrupting any interaction he had with Nie Fuyun. He had assumed one of them had realised how much she looked like her father, like her uncle. It might all have been a plot to rob him of his only remaining family, and force him into a proper marriage, to get a proper heir.
But that morning, after talking to a nervous and dejected Nie Fuyun, Nie Huaisang had attempted once again to end that ridiculous engagement, only to get lectured by several elders regarding his unhealthy obsession for a girl young enough to be his daughter.
The fools thought he'd intended to marry her, and wanted him to pick a more appropriate bride for himself.
Shocked by that discovery, Nie Huaisang hadn't been able to argue his case, and so the engagement still remained. Nie Fuyun would still marry a boy who couldn't deserve her, because no one in the world did. Nie Huaisang had failed her. His only family left, and he had failed to protect her, as he failed everyone.
At least she would have a good wedding, Nie Huaisang thought, stomping his way toward the place where he hid his best wine. He had ordered the best food, the best musicians, the best entertainment. Her red robes were fit for an empress, for a goddess even, and she would wear the same veil Nie Huaisang’s mother wore at her wedding. He had also been generous with her dowry, and intended to secretly give her some extras as well, to keep hidden from her in-laws. That way she'd be able to run away if things went wrong, and she could make her way back home to Qinghe, where Nie Huaisang would protect her.
But first, the wedding had to happen.
Feeling quite murderous at the thought of his precious Nie Fuyun being taken from him, Nie Huaisang slammed open the doors of the armoury. Nobody ever went there, so ever since he'd been a teenager, he'd used that place to hide things from prying eyes. Wine in particular was kept there, because it was at once cool and dry, the perfect place to…
Nie Huaisang froze mid thought.
There were people in the armoury.
That alone would have been bad. But those people in particular had no right to be there. And yet there they were.
The four men he least wanted to see on that day.
His daughter's fathers.
Just like him, the four men froze when the doors opened. Lan Xichen appeared to have been in the middle of pacing. Lan Wangji, standing near his brother, must have been watching him, judging by the barely noticeable concern on his face. Then, on the ground, Jiang Cheng was sitting stiffly, with Wei Wuxian next to him, holding in his hand…
“Is that my good wine?” Nie Huaisang asked, narrowing his eyes.
Wei Wuxian looked down at the jar, as if he were confused how it had arrived in his hand.
“It is wine,” Wei Wuxian conceded. “It’s pretty good stuff. And it is in your armoury. But I didn’t realise it was yours.”
“Is there any left for the wedding, or did you drink everything already?” Nie Huaisang asked, pinching his nose.
“We haven’t been here that long, so I was just getting started. I wouldn’t have drunk the whole thing anyway! I’ve got manners.”
Nie Huaisang scoffed at that.
“And how did you people get here, anyway?” he asked. “None of you are welcome… except you, Jiang zongzhu. I do remember inviting you, although I see I might have to regret it, since you took the liberty of bringing unwanted people with you.”
“I am as baffled by their presence as you are,” Jiang Cheng replied, getting up with so much dignity that Nie Huaisang could almost forget he had also been drinking his good wine. “I’ve been brought here under false pretences. I was told I was being led to a room to clean up after the trip here. Since nobody offered us drinks or food, we had to make do. Your hospitality used to be better than that, Nie zongzhu.”
“And who brought you here, exactly?”
“One of your disciples, of course,” Wei Wuxian intervened. “Asked us to wait here until you were informed we were visiting.”
Nie Huaisang narrowed his eyes at him, but Wei Wuxian radiated innocence and goodwill, the way he only did when he was particularly full of shit.
“And why are you visiting, exactly?” Nie Huaisang asked.
“I like weddings, they're fun!” Wei Wuxian shamelessly replied.
“I am accompanying Wei Ying,” Lan Wangji stated.
“You invited me,” Jiang Cheng reminded him.
Bad answers, all of them, but Nie Huaisang couldn't say any of that was out of character for them. As for the last pest in his home…
“I happened to be in the area,” Lan Xichen said hesitantly, barely daring to look at Nie Huaisang. “I thought I would try to see you, and talk maybe.”
Nie Huaisang opened his fan and glared at him. He did not like to see Lan Xichen shy and unsure. Even if the cause were different, it reminded him too much of certain times in their youth, that entire period where they'd danced around each other, neither daring to take the first step and act on their mutual attraction. Back then…
Back then had been a mistake, Nie Huaisang reminded himself, tightening his grip on his fan. Back then, Lan Xichen had broken his heart, and nothing he’d done since made him worthy of pity.
“Well, it has been lovely seeing all of you,” Nie Huaisang said without warmth. “But I'm actually very busy today. I am marrying one of my disciples, you see, and that's enough of a mess. I don't want to deal with you people on top of it. So off you go, I want all of you out of my home, right now. Except you, Jiang zongzhu. You can stay, of course.”
Jiang Cheng nodded, thankfully not offended by the situation. It was too bad that Nie Huaisang wasn't sure if they'd really slept together or not. Out of all the options available, Jiang Cheng was the least worst possibility as a father for Nie Fuyun, if only because it would cause the least emotional turmoil.
“Nie zongzhu you're so cold!” Wei Wuxian lamented as he took another sip of Nie Huaisang’s best wine. “Aren't we old friends?”
“We were on good terms at fifteen, that's different!” Nie Huaisang retorted, striding toward him and snatching the jar of wine from his hands. Almost empty. It figured. “I know this isn't very far in time for you since you died shortly after, but please understand I'm over double that age now.”
“So cold!” Wei Wuxian complained as he got up and tried to get back the jar. “Nie-xiong, you wound me. We were friends even after that! Don't you remember all the fun we had at that Night Hunt the Jins organised once?”
That reminder startled Nie Huaisang so much that he dropped the jar of wine, which Wei Wuxian promptly caught before it hit the floor.
It had to be a coincidence, Wei Wuxian mentioning that night on the day Nie Fuyun was getting married. It didn't mean… He couldn't have guessed… Did he even know Nie Fuyun existed? She was on good terms with Jin Rulan and that pair of Lan boys who were so friendly with Wei Wuxian. Had they told him about her? Had he joined the children on a Night Hunt, seen her face, heard her age, and guessed the whole truth? Had it been anyone else, Nie Huaisang would have blamed his paranoia. But Wei Wuxian had a bad habit of finding out things he shouldn't, especially regarding Nie Huaisang's personal affairs. If he knew he might tell others, and in doing so he would put her in danger. If Nie Huaisang’s enemies discovered who she was… if something happened to her…
“Out!” Nie Huaisang ordered.
“Come on Nie-xiong, don't be like that!” Wei Wuxian whined. “Here, have a drink, it's really good stuff, and… Ah, wait, that one is empty…”
“I said out!” Nie Huaisang shouted, grabbing Wei Wuxian by the sleeve and pulling him toward the door. “Out, all of you! I Won't have you people ruining this day!”
Perhaps Wei Wuxian noticed how truly furious he was, or perhaps this game was no longer amusing to him, but he allowed Nie Huaisang to drag him outside, and the other three followed. It should only have been a matter of kicking out all those unwanted, but…
Of course, things had to get worse.
“Nie zongzhu, I didn’t know we’d have such prestigious guests!” the world’s most annoying person exclaimed, right next to them.
Second most annoying person? Sect leader Yao was perhaps worse than that on several layers. And Wei Wuxian was somewhere in the competition as well, especially on that day.
Nie Huaisang plastered a mild smile on his face, and turned to greet sect leader Ouyang, who actually had a right to be there, much to Nie Huaisang’s chagrin. He’d given orders that Nie Fuyun’s future father-in-law be brought to him as soon as he arrived to discuss some final details regarding the wedding.
“Ouyang zongzhu, I did not expect to see you so early,” Nie Huaisang said. “Your son isn’t with you?”
“His friends and him went to greet the bride, I think,” sect leader Ouyang distractedly replied, still watching the men behind Nie Huaisang with a mixture of awe and suspicion.
“Well, that hardly sounds appropriate,” Nie Huaisang scoffed. “He’s not married to her yet, they shouldn’t be alone together, and those other boys are just…” he paused, remembering that one of the ‘other boys’ was Jiang Cheng's beloved and much spoiled nephew, while the other two were highly thought of by the Lan clan. “Well, what happened wasn’t those boys’ fault, but they should have known better anyway.”
“Certainly, certainly,” sect leader Ouyang agreed, still not looking at Nie Huaisang. “Nie zongzhu, you didn’t tell me… is everyone here for the wedding?”
Nie Huaisang clenched his fists. Of course that would please the old fool. The leaders of the three great sects, guests at the wedding of his only son, who was marrying a beloved disciple of a former great sect! To sect leader Ouyang, this had to sound like the luckiest day in his life. To Nie Huaisang…
If he could, he would have sent everyone away, including sect leader Ouyang. But giving in to his temper would make for a bad start to Nie Fuyun's marriage, and soon she would be entirely in the power of those Ouyang people. She wasn't a girl to let herself be bullied, she was too much like Nie Mingjue for that, but Nie Huaisang didn't want her to be faced with unnecessary hardship. So what if it bruised his pride to put up with those people? His pride had suffered worse in the past, he could do this.
“Yes, they are here for the wedding,” Nie Huaisang announced with his sweetest smile. “Aren’t we lucky? I’m sorry I didn’t tell you before, Ouyang zongzhu! There were several scheduling issues you see, and until the last moment I couldn’t be sure they’d come, and of course I didn’t want to risk disappointing you, right? I hope you’ll forgive me!”
Without surprise, sect leader Ouyang was only too happy to swallow that obvious lie. There were people in the jianghu who were starting to notice that Nie Huaisang was no longer the helpless Headshaker they’d known for years. Sect Leader Ouyang was not of that number, and it made him far more trusting than a man in his position ought to be.
Delighted by the honour done to him and his son, sect leader Ouyang lost no time before starting to chat with Jiang Cheng and Lan Xichen, as boldly as if they were old friends of his. Better them than Nie Huaisang, especially when Nie Huaisang had so much to deal with already.
Including one Wei Wuxian, whose sleeve he grabbed again, pulling him a few steps away from others for a word.
“Wei-xiong, if you ruin this wedding, I swear no sacrifice ritual can bring back your soul from where I’m going to send it,” Nie Huaisang hissed.
“You know a way to do that?” Wei Wuxian asked with a glint in his eye.
“Piss me off enough, I’d invent it,” Nie Huaisang replied. “So be on your best behaviour. And keep your husband and his damn brother out of my way, too, or you’ll take the fall for them!”
“Poor Jiang Cheng, he’d be hurt if he knew you don’t consider him a threat, you know,” Wei Wuxian miserably lamented. “I think he likes it when people are scared of him. It makes him feel loved.”
A strangled noise escaped Nie Huaisang, which was in no way him trying not to laugh.
“Jiang Cheng can be trusted,” Nie Huaisang argued, trying to sound dignified, probably failing. “The rest of you can’t. Now, stay out of my way, don’t get anywhere near the poor bride, and if you do well…”
“You’ll let me live?” Wei Wuxian suggested with a grin.
“As if I can threaten you, when your husband is right now spying on us and wouldn’t hesitate to kill me to protect you,” Nie Huaisang sighed. “But if I can’t threaten, I will bribe. If you liked that wine earlier, I can get you more…”
“Nie-xiong, you’ve always been the most fun of my friends,” Wei Wuxian laughed. “Fine, we have a deal, I’ll be on my best behaviour, and Lan Zhan too. But Lan da-ge… eh, it’s not like I can control him, can I?”
Probably not, Nie Huaisang thought. And that was a shame, because out of everyone present, Lan Xichen was the one most likely to make this wedding a truly hellish experience for Nie Huaisang.

Summary: Frustrated and desperate to stop hearing Wei Wuxian’s voice echo in his ears, Lan Wangji makes a mistake with the Lan silencing spell that he cannot undo. Temporarily muted, Wei Wuxian struggles to pretend that he’s fine, while Lan Wangji struggles to make it up to him. Kay's comments: This story feels like someone searched my brain for all my favourite things and then made a fic out of it and I love it. Here we have a Cloud Recesses Study Arc canon-divergence where Lan Wangji accidently uses a very strong muting spell on Wei Wuxian, which leads to him not being able to speak at all. It doesn't go well for anyone involved, but it also gives the opportunity to get to know each other better sooner. Love how the author went all-out on panicked gay teenager Lan Wangji, who just can't handle having a crush and miscommunicates so hard at every opportunity and I love how Wei Wuxian's muteness is explored and what that might mean for his relationship with his peers. Excerpt: Jin Zixuan scowled from his place behind the Jiang boys, crossing his arms and glaring at the back of Wei Wuxian's head, "You've already got everyone looking at you as it is– are you that desperate for attention, Wei Wuxian? Would you quit treating everything like a game?" Wei Wuxian tried to make another noise as he threw a nasty glare behind him. “No,” Lan Wangji finally forced the world from his lips, hot frustration and a bit of anger pushing up through his chest as he watched Wei Wuxian face ridicule and scorn for Lan Wangji’s mistake, “Not a game.” Jin Zixuan huffed, “See? Lan-er-gongzi doesn’t have time for your playing around, Wei Wuxian!” Wei Wuxian had been shaking his head back and forth, but quickly slowed to stop as he realized that it didn’t matter. No one was paying his nonverbal protests any attention. “No,” Lan Wangji tried again, voice tight, “Not playing.” Jiang Wanyin and Jin Zixuan wore matching expressions of confusion, them and the rest of the disciples watching Lan Wangji as he struggled to find the words to explain. He was frustrated, and the words that were normally so difficult for him now felt almost impossible. Wei Wuxian was the one who couldn’t open his mouth, but Lan Wangji was starting to feel like he couldn’t breathe.

See XiCheng to me is particularly wonderful when Lan Wangji finds out about it. Like he's feeling terrible for his beloved older brother for giving his heart to Jin Guangyao and he's JUST getting over that mess and he's thinking "okay my brother will be fine now the worst has passed".

Lan Wangji was nervous. He shouldn't be, but he was.
After spending summer in Japan with his brother, his brother's best friend and said friend's younger brother, who's also his classmate (also known as Nie Huaisang), today was his first date with his year long boyfriend Wei Ying since he was back (two days ago).
They decided to go out for boba and a walk on the park before going to the Lans townhouse so Wei Ying could get his presents and souvenirs. Lan Qiren already asked for a spicy plate for the boy to eat at dinner, even if the teenagers haven't said anything about it. His uncle just know them well enough.
Anyway, Lan Wangji wasn't nervous because of the date itself, he knows how to make Wei Ying happy and a happy Wei Ying makes him the happiest. No, he was nervous about the giant bunny plush he won on gacha a few weeks ago.
(he spent over an hour and countless coins on it. Nie Huaisang was highly amused watching and filming him getting a meltdown every time it fell)
As usual, their date was excellent and Wei Ying smiled the whole time, not letting go of his hand or arm. He pouted and whined a lot, about missing him, about his jealousy (even though he traveled with his parents to the beach somewhere in Thailand, away from humid and hot gigantic city), and Lan Wangji make sure to hug and kiss him a lot to make up for it.
Then they went back to Lan Wangji's house and he started feeling his heart beating faster.
Because of house rules, they couldn't go to Lan Wangji's room by themselves, so Wei Ying sat on the living room floor to play with his boyfriend's pet bunnies and waited for him to come back with his presents.
"Wei Ying." Lan Wangji called.
"Lan Zhan!"
The boy looked up with a bright smile and Lan Wangji could feel the love arrow pierce his heart once again. He had to pause for a moment before kneeling down.
"For you."
"Yay!" Wei Ying cheered, taking the paper bag "Should I open now or wait until I get home?"
"Here." Lan Wangji nodded, glad his boyfriend didn't realized he hid the big plushie beside the couch.
Wei Ying got excited with each item, even the ones for his parents and little sister. Although he did started complaining it was too much halfway through. Wei Ying got especially happy when he found the photo strips from the booth Nie Huaisang made him go in Harajuku.
"Thank you so much, Lan Zhan." he said when finished, putting everything inside the bag again.
"...There's one more." Lan Wangji confessed, accepting his hug.
"One more?" Wei Ying looked at him curiously "Why it wasn't with the others?"
"Ah..."
Lan Wangji pushed him softly and stretched backwards to get the plushie.
"I won a bunny plush for you." he said, feeling his ears warming up.
"A bunny plush?!" Wei Ying's eyes widened, visibly excited "I love plushies!"
"I know." Lan Wangji huffed amusedly.
Then, he presented his acquisition.
But instead of squealing with mirth, Wei Ying bit down his lip.
"A bunny plush, Lan Zhan?"
"Yes..."
Wei Ying laughed loudly, falling down to the ground with tears in his eyes and Lan Wangji looked down at the plushie in his hands. It was a big headed bunny with big floppy ears, blue eyes and wearing a cute aviation uniform.
What's wrong with it? Lan Wangji thought it was cute. Very, very cute. He even thought about getting one for himself, but the stress to get one was already too much for him.
"Lan Zhan!" Wei Ying exclaimed, trying to stop laughing "That's not a bunny! It's cinnamon roll!"
"...Cinnamon roll?"
"You don't know?" Wei Ying stopped laughing to stare at him "He's a Sanrio character, you know. Hello Kitty...?"
"I know Hello Kitty." he paused "Is this not a bunny?"
"Noooo! It's a dog!" Wei Ying laughed again, taking his phone and typing something fast "Look."
A search with the character name was made and it shown: Cinnamoroll, is a white puppy with chubby cheeks and long ears, blue eyes, pink cheeks, and a tail that resembles a cinnamon roll.
"A puppy." he looked at the plushie again in confusion. How is this a puppy?!
"Yeah." Wei Ying chuckled "And it's mine! Don't even think about taking it back just because it's not a bunny!" he mock threatened.
Silently, still confused, he gave the Cinnamonroll to his boyfriend, watching him cuddling the not bunny tightly.
Well. At least Wei Ying is happy.
He can't wait for lunch tomorrow with Wei Ying's parents.

How to you feel about wwx sort of taking advantage of lwj when he’s drunk re: the kiss? (It’s a genuine question, I’m trying to instigate a fandom war or bash any character!)
Well first off anon, I think that framing it as "sort of taking advantage" already states where your thoughts on it lie. I recognize that you do likely mean to be neutral and are asking in good faith and just accidentally missed the word not, but the way you phrased the question does have a lead in.
Which is really unfair because I wouldn't call either stolen kiss in Modaozushi either one of them taking advantage of the other. They are both impulsive actions, taken then immediately regretted with neither of the kissed party punishing the other in any way.
The Phoenix Mountain Kiss has been done to death, but let's go ahead and talk about the DrunkJi 2 kiss. It might be a bit scattered because I was having some revelations myself about this moment when I was rereading the scene. Namely that LWJ is being a lot more consenting than it first appears.
They are both not sober in the moment. Wei Wuxian was drinking before Lan Wangji joined him, at the end of the scene he discovers that the whole bottle is empty while he's all rattled about it. I would hesitate to call Wei Wuxian drunk, but as someone who has had more than my own fair share of drinks, there is a point where you can still be very aware of your actions, your senses yet your instinct that pulls you back is numbed. And it does not necessarily take a lot of drinking to get there.
They have been playing a very flirty game. Lan Wangji was threatened if he got caught during chase to get licked and his response was to turn around and walk right into Wei Wuxian to be licked. He gets all shuddery and fluttery about it like the flustered maiden he is, but also goes back in for more. He is definitely very drunk, but every sign that Wei Wuxian is getting is not only a level of enjoyment, but actively seeking out more. In addition, this is the second time Lan Wangji has gotten drunk around Wei Wuxian, so it's not like it's a surprise to either of them that he's a bit of a wild child, running around, causing trouble and being a pouty baby when Wei Wuxian doesn't give him what he wants. Lan Wangji choosing to drink alongside Wei Wuxian is both of them acknowledging that this is going to go in interesting directions; Lan Wangji is not going to remember it and he trusts Wei Wuxian with his drunken inhibition free self.
Here's where we get to the first amazing thing I've discovered on rereading this. There is a lot more going on beneath the surface than framing this as Wei Wuxian suddenly kissing Lan Wangji out of nowhere. This whole scene is showing us what their dynamic really was when they were younger and how only now do they have the ability to actually pick up on these confused signals that they were sending each other as teenagers.
Lan Wangji may be drunk, but for the first time, Wei Wuxian is absolutely picking up on what he wants.
As he was pondering, Lan WangJi turned around, his face as calm as always, “Again.”
Wei WuXian, “Again? Again what?”
Lan WangJi hid behind the wooden screen once more and peeked at him with only half of his face showing.
His intentions were as clear as could be—again, you chase, I run.
Speechless for a moment, Wei WuXian obeyed and did it again. This time, having only been chased for a short while, Lan WangJi ran into him again.
Wei WuXian, “You really are doing this on purpose, aren’t you?”
Again, Lan WangJi brought Wei WuXian’s arms around his neck as though he couldn’t understand what his words meant, waiting for him to fulfil his promise again.
These are not the actions of someone who just wants to play. There is a whole other layer going on beneath the surface. A context clue clicks into place for Wei Wuxian and presumably the audience as well, although that latter one I strongly doubt given that I only really caught onto it now myself.
Lan Wangji is not running because he is afraid or because he isn’t enjoying it. Lan Wangji is running because he wants to be chased and caught. He wants to resist up to a point and then give into Wei Wuxian and surrender the need to pretend and protest. Wei Wuxian is teasing him as though he were a playful kid, cause licking is gross at that age and it theoretically should make Lan Wangji run faster. Instead he makes it a few steps, turns around and walks right into Wei Wuxian’s arms.
It is rather an intensely vulnerable scene as I reread it for this. For just a moment, Wei Wuxian lets his guard down because Lan Wangji is asking him for something very different than he might sober and he is responding to that deep attraction within the both of them. He has picked up on that Lan Wangji was a little frightened of the deepness of the emotions within, but also he really does want it. Thus he continues because he for a brief few splendid moments has no doubt.
With his arms around Lan WangJi, Wei WuXian returned to the bed with him, then asked, “You like this, don’t you? Don’t turn around. Speak. Do you like it or not? If you like it, we don’t have to run around every single time. How about I let you have as much fun as you want?”
As he spoke, he held up one of Lan WangJi’s hands, bent down, and kissed between two of his slender fingers.
Lan WangJi wanted to take his hand away again, but Wei WuXian held it tightly, not allowing him to do so.
And then, Wei WuXian’s lips pressed onto his distinct knuckles. Softer than the touch of feather, his breaths wandered to the back of his hand, and he kissed again.
It is easy to forget, especially since the extent of Lan Wangji's strength won't be shown until the Guanyin Temple, about sixty chapters away from this point, but he is very strong and Wei Wuxian is in the body of a normal person who has not cultivated a golden core. The text here in ExR Allure says that Wei Wuxian wouldn't let him pull his hand away, but if he actually really wanted to stop it, he could easily pull his hand away or push Wei Wuxian off. He is not resisting because he doesn’t want it, he is resisting because he is continuing to play hard to get.
He is still being chased, Wei Wuxian is about to catch him.
Lan WangJi couldn’t pull his hand back no matter how hard he tried. He could only clench his fingers together into a tight fist.
Wei WuXian lifted up his sleeves, revealing the pale-skinned wrist, then kissed it as well.
After he kissed, he didn’t raise his head. He only turned his eyes to Lan WangJi, “Is that enough?”
Is that enough for Lan Wangji, hapless fragile maiden being seduced by the man he really, really likes? No, no he would like a little more romancing please.
Lan WangJi pursed his lips, refusing to speak a single word. Wei WuXian finally sat up straight again and continued, his voice unhurried, “Tell me. Have you burnt any paper money for me?”
There was no answer. Wei WuXian laughed out loud and inched toward him. Over the clothing, he kissed where his heart was, “If you don’t talk, I’m not gonna give you any more. Tell me. How did you know it was me?”
Lan WangJi closed his eyes. His lips quivered, as though he was on the verge of confessing.
Suddenly, however, as Wei WuXian stared at those soft, pale-red lips, he didn’t know what had taken over him, but he suddenly went and kissed them.
After the kiss, he even licked them, as though a kiss wasn’t enough.
Wei Wuxian accidentally flips the game here. Lan Wangji is being coaxed slowly here and he is about to give in. Presumably to confess something that he might have wished he was sober to say, but as we’ve ascertained in both this and the previous DrunkJi he won’t speak if he doesn’t want to. Then Wei Wuxian gets a bit caught up in the moment and his lowered inhibitions get the better of him and he suddenly has to kiss Lan Wangji.
And there is no denying it that it is an impulse. He is shocked and rattled by what he’s just done and panics, throwing himself on the ground while Lan Wangji knocks himself out. Now I may be crucified by the purity police, but I’m pretty sure that taking advantage of someone involves some intent to y’know, take advantage of them. Not get caught up in the moment when you’re romantically playing with the guy you’ve been in love with since you were fifteen and get overwhelmed by instinct before remembering the situation and panicking. It throws him off balance so badly that he needs some time to recover from it.
Both of them widened their eyes.
A moment later, Lan WangJi raised his hand. At once, Wei WuXian was startled into realization. He immediately broke into a cold sweat, fearing that Lan WangJi would smack him dead on the spot, and quickly scrambled off the bed. Turning around, he saw Lan WangJi smack his own forehead. He now lay unconscious, collapsed on the bed.
Inside of the private room, Lan WangJi lay on the bed as Wei WuXian sat on the ground. A cold gust of wind rushed inside through the opened windows, sending chills down Wei WuXian’s back. His head finally felt clearer.
He stood up from the ground, pushed the table to where it used to be, then sat down beside it.
After spacing out for a while, he used his teeth to bite at the knots on the forehead ribbon. With effort, he finally managed to open the stack of lumps.
Now that his hands had been loosened, to get over the shock, he went to pour himself a cup of liquor. He held the cup to his lips for a few moments, but not a single drop entered his mouth. Looking down, he finally saw that there wasn’t any liquor in the cup at all. He had already downed the entire pot. Even when he was pouring, he failed to notice that nothing was being poured out.
Wei Wuxian is not exactly at his finest moment here. He might be a little bit rattled. First he has to sit on the ground for a bit. Then he moves the table, sits down and spaces out again. Even the exertion and effort required to untie himself still doesn’t snap him out of it as he still fails to notice that there’s no alcohol in his cup until he tries to drink it. Again, I would not call this taking advantage of Lan Wangji in any way as the very fact that he lost control for a moment and went that far has clearly shaken him up pretty badly.
There are definitely some things with consent in Wangxian, both in them crossing lines and in learning how to communicate with each other. But the fact that people want to blame one of them for their actions when what we get is that one of them makes a mistake and the other both forgives them and they learn from it frustrates me.
I’m not going to say that Wei Wuxian took advantage of Lan Wangji here. I’m not going to say that Lan Wangji took advantage of Wei Wuxian on Phoenix Mountain. I am going to say that they were two people who had no one to offer them guidance who sometimes fumbled a bit on the path to building a lovely, healthy, happy, trusting relationship.
Because sometimes it really actually doesn’t matter that much and people put way too much emphasis on making sure that every action someone takes is the perfect correct action and anything that even hints at maybe not being perfect must be apologized and corrected for. It’s a horribly restrictive way of looking at relationships and to me speaks of people not trusting each other at all.
Wangxian don’t hold any of these actions against each other, why are we?

The day Lan Qiren was traumatized:
Lan Qiren was sitting in his chair, the classes were about to begin. His nephew didn't show up, like that other boy whose Lan Qiren already judged to be a menace like his mom.
He started his classes, hours passed but neither WangJi or Wei Ying show up and Lan Qiren was worried and very certain of himself that Wei WuXian was the responsible by Lan WangJi's delay.
When the classes ended, he makes his way to jingshi, where he finds his other nephew on the way.
Lan Xichen bowed to him, "Shufu.", his face seemed calm but Lan Qiren read a bit of anxiety too.
Lan Qiren, "You have see your brother? WangJi skipped classes today."
Lan Xichen, "I did. He and Wei-gongzi were having a conversation on the library, but i didn't heard anything. WangJi said he was going to Jingshi and Wei-gongzi followed him."
Lan Qiren felt like a qi deviation was too close. That boy was probably doing something with WangJi, his innocent and perfect nephew! He was going to face the boards again!
He didn't said anything more, going straight up to the jingshi. He didn't heard anything coming inside, so, because he was too worried, he goes in without knocking.
Big error.
The first thing he heard is pants and "pa pa pa pa" sounds, like someone is clapping really fast. He frozes in place, trying to understand what is going on until...
"Oh fuck!", Wei Ying's voice comes from Lan WangJi's room, like he is crying, "Lan Zhan... you are so good! Fuck!! Is too much... too much...."
Lan Qiren couldn't move, too surprised by what he is hearing. Thinking might be a mistake and he is so worried and sick that he is starting to hallucinate.
The sounds get faster and louder, "Yes... right there!... ohh... Lan Zhan... keep going!...", Wei WuXian's moans send chills of disgust in Lan Qirens spine and stomach.
"Shut up..."
That was his nephew voice, raspy and rough. His nephew who he raised to be more than a promiscuous teenager boy. He was raised to follow the rules and be a correct and fair cultivator. To be the proud of his family.
Wei WuXian almost started screaming, "Yes! Yes! Yes...."
Lan Qiren finally give a step and opens the door. Both of the teenagers boy looked to be too occupied and focused on what they were doing than paying attention on the arounds.
What Lan Qiren had see, haunt him for years until his death.
Wei WuXian was naked with his back against the bed, his legs in the air spread very open, his hands tied up with Lan WangJi's forehead ribbon and a lot of marks on his body.
His nephew. The boy he saw speak his first words... the boy he raised and saw grow up was pounding like a beast on Lan Qiren doesn't know what... but he was between Wei WuXian's legs with his face buried on his chest and sucking his...
Lan Qiren didn't hold up, "LAN WANGJI!!!"
His scream was enough to make both almost jump out of bed. Wei WuXian took the pillow that was under his waist and hide his body on it while Lan WangJi took the sheets to cover himself.
They speak at the same time, both pale like ghosts, "Shufu/Lan Xiansheng!"
Lan Qiren felt too much anger and shame, "WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THAT!"
Wei WuXian was red like a pepper, "Well... is just..."
Lan WangJi, "WangJi is sorry, Shufu!", he says, "I brought Wei Ying here, all this happened by my fault."
Wei WuXian, "No! Lan Xiansheng, i was the one who invaded Lan Zhan's room! I-"
Lan Qiren didn't wanted to hear or even look at them, "300 strokes!! You two must write the rules 500 times!!!"

Lan Qiren recited all the Lan rules they broked while the boards of discipline was being used against the young couples back. He immediatly separated then and wrote a letter to Jiang FengMian.
When the said letter arrived, Jiang FengMian was scandalized and confused at best. He took some older servants and disciples to go to Cloud Recess.
The incident didn't have been out yet, so everyone was scared of how their older professor was yelling at both his nephew and student, separeting them apart.
Wei WuXian missed Lan WangJi and Lan WangJi missed Wei WuXian. Being the horny and romantic teenagers they are, the exactly day Jiang FengMian arrived, they both disappeared.
After hours searching, both of them appeared again. Clothes switched, messy hair and mouths, with a lot of marks on their neck.
Lan Qiren was prepared to yell at then, telling how that is a mistake and how Wei WuXian will ruin his life. Lan WangJi, when his uncle stopped screaming, start to tell about his plans to court Wei WuXian if Jiang FengMian and his uncle give him permission.
Lan Qiren yell again, so his nephew say he will marry Wei WuXian because is the right thing to do, since he had taken his purity.
In the end, they marry and Lan Qiren have to deal with his traumas in a very long seclusion.

Been thinking about the beginning of MDZS because I was talking about it with a friend who just finished vol. 1, and I really love the placing of the CR flashback right after LWJ and JC's introduction and all the questions and context it brings.
First we get introduced to both LWJ (properly at least) and JC in Dafan, and that segment as well as wangxian’s arrival to CR sets the tone for their current relationships with WWX.
One is slightly confusing, because WWX has already ran from LWJ once, which implies that he expects a certain hostility from him that isn't there, made even more puzzling when he allows himself to be taken to CR with little resistance, and proceeds to annoy him the best he can to see what will come of it.
While the other is outright hostile, surprising WWX who had actually thought that JC would have forgotten his grievances by now, but leaving little to the reader to question.
"Unfortunately, the person who came happened to be from the Lan Clan, but even more unfortunately, he happened to be Lan WangJi! This was one of the people who had fought with him before, so he should retreat quickly. " (chapter 5)
"He thought that, after so many years, no matter how much hatred Jiang Cheng had held for him, it would have disappeared long ago. He didn’t expect that not only did it not disappear, it became richer, as if it was a jar of aged alcohol. To the point where at the present time, his hatred had grown to affect even people who cultivated like him!" (chapter 7)
Then our first flashback shows us that there is a lot more happening here.
We learn that Lan Wangji used to be far less composed than he is now, getting flustered by WWX’s antics quite easily. But their relationship wasn’t really bad, just a little messy as they stumbled through navigating their teenage crushes. We’re left to wonder what went on in the future that WWX first called him an enemy, but it also shows us that what's happening between them now isn’t so strange.
WWX’s shenanigans in Cloud Recesses are in line with the things he did as a teen, the only difference is that LWJ is responding in kind now and WWX is not really up to speed with this quite yet.
There’s also the tangible impact WWX has had in LWJ's current life (the bunnies, the emperors smile) that speaks for itself about what kinds of feelings he’s held for WWX during these years.
(It’s not that much of a surprise since LWJ is the romantic lead after all, but it is very well crafted and I love the attention to detail there and how every little thing is connected and helps build up the narrative while WWX is busy trying to mislead us about his feelings)
Meanwhile Wei Wuxian’s thoughts on Jiang Cheng gain a new context when we learn that he hasn’t always hated WWX.
That’s not a surprise exactly, considering how much WWX thinks about them and the past in Dafan, but it does invite us to question how it got there, and shows how the worst we’ve seen of JC can already be found in his younger else, while tragically also making you empathize with him after seeing through these glimpses that he had the potential to be much better had he not chosen to hold onto his bitterness.
JC and WWX’s friendship wasn’t perfect, but it had potential. Except we already know it went nowhere, just not how exactly that happened.
It’s just!! So good! Love that as early as this and in the most light hearted flashback we can already determine how LWJ was always on WWX’s side despite WWX’s previous lack of knowledge of this, get hints of what role JC could have played on WWX’s downfall given that even as a teen he was quick to jealousy and to put him down, then there’s wangxian and how both their feelings have been present since back then too.
I haven’t had to think about all the initial mystery surrounding WWX in a bit since I already know the entire story, but I had fun seeing it through someone else’s eyes and it reminded me of how good the build up on that is and how much fun it is to pick apart the beginning. It’s a beginning that does a really good job of leaving us curious about what happened during WWX’s first life for his relationships to have gotten like this and it establishes a lot of things that’ll be solidified later when we get to the relevant flashbacks.

Granny Wen is the MVP
That one time Nie Huaissang physically dragged his brother to the Burial Mounds, because, listen! Wei Wuxian is his friends, alright? Nie Mingjue is so confused.
"Xichen stop laughing. No, Xichen listen! She pet my head and ask me if I've been sleeping. And she shushed me!" Xichen will eat his laugh when he also gets the granny treatment.
Granny Wen sees these two over-worked, too-young sect leaders and immediately makes them sit down and eat a decent meal. Nie Huaissang finds it hilarious that his big scary brother is being intimidated by an old woman. I mean, Wen Qing had to get it from someone…
Lan Wangji is just enjoying the excuse to spend more time in the Burial Mounds. He just sits quietly near the radish patch and plays with A-Yuan. A-Yuan has also latched himself onto Nie Mingjue's leg multiple times. Nie Huaissang has already started work on a painting to immortalise his brother's expression.
I'm just picturing all this in the foreground and in the back is Wei Wuxian just... confused but pleasantly so. He comes out of his cave to see what all the fuss is about and is greeted by Wen Qing, Granny Wen, and Lan Wangji all simultaneously telling him to go back to bed. He goes to complain and Lan Wangji just scoopes him up and carries him back to bed. Lan Wangji doesn't return for quite a while. And when he does, Lan Xichen tactfully remarks that his forehead ribbon is crooked.
Granny makes very pointed eye contact with Lan Xichen and makes a comment about how spring weddings are lovely. Lan Xichen eagerly agrees, until he realises that Granny Wen wasn't just talking about Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian.
Somewhere in the distance Jiang Yanli's mayhem senses are tingling. Also is this a good time to admit that Nie Mingjue and Lan Xichen eloped like two years ago? Of course that will not be good enough for anyone - they're both sect leaders so everyone needs to make a massive fuss. Lan Wangji agrees, mostly to get Lan Xichen back for all his wedding-planning-schemes.
Lan Qiren arrives at the Burial Mounds ready to kick up a fuss and gets stared down by Granny. She talks about "her boys" and no one dares to ask if she means Wei Wuxian and Wen Ning or also the Lan and Nie brothers.
Suddenly everyone finds themselves with an extra grandmother, whether they like it or not. She has a few Things to say to Jin Guangyao and Jin Zixuan. She's also 100% up for helping Madam Jin become a widow. And imagine her delight at having another grandchild by proxy because Yanli is having a baby.
Also, imagine her shushing Jin Guangyao like you do with a little kid. Jin Guangyao doing his usual customer service smile and Granny Wen is having none of it.
"Young man, save that nonsense for others. Now sit down and eat your lunch."
She probably knew Wen Ruohan when he was a stupid teenager. I bet there's no flavour of stupid she has not seen and heard at this point...

Do you think wwx ever saw lwj as abusive and was scared of him? like, in the Xuánwǔ cave, for example?

They even kinda compared the fact that wwx never outright says it with the fact that wwx said yzy wasn't that bad, so the fact that wwx says he trusts lwj to not be judgemental was just him being unreliable.
I've never seen anyone speaking about it, even when calling lwj abusive people always speak about the fact that wwx only has lwj post-canon and lwj is 'controlling and obsessive', but this person is arguing that lwj was jealous because wwx saving mianmian meant he wasn't as special to wwx as he wanted to be?? am I misunderstanding it?
Sorry, I don't want to drag you in discourse, it's just that this person is a bit of a hit and miss for me (they have some good meta but they also think chengxian is canon? but they're not a jc stan and think it was abusive and meant to parallel wangxian, that lwj changed his ways for wwx while jc didn't, and that's why they ended up together???). I trust your analysis, it's always very well-grounded on the novel and good sense, so what do you think? I'm so confused by this whole argument.

"verbal abuse"? 🙃 huh? This is when people go from WWX fans [🤩] to WWX stans [😒]... Suddenly every character didn't treat him right. And it's sad bc WWX loved to rile LWJ up. It's kind of the whole point. In his first life:
"He laughed so hard he risked toppling head first into the river. “Lan Zhan, you’re amazing! In all my time clearing out water ghosts, this is the first I’ve seen someone pull off a ghost’s clothes.”
Lan Wangji was busy checking Bichen’s blade for any changes, apparently having already decided to ignore all of Wei Wuxian’s attempts at conversation.
Jiang Cheng spoke. “You should shut your mouth. The thing that swam past us wasn’t a water ghost. It was nothing more than a set of clothes!”
Of course, Wei Wuxian had seen all this perfectly clearly. Only, if he didn’t needle Lan Wangji, his entire body would start feeling out of sorts." (17)
and in his second one:
It was likely that no one had ever dared to do something so audacious and shameless to Lan WangJi, and Wei WuXian had done it twice. Lan WangJi’s expression shifted abruptly. The hands holding Wei WuXian tightened as well, hard enough to leave imprints on Wei WuXian’s skin. Smiling between breaths, Wei WuXian pecked the corner of Lan WangJi’s mouth and said next to his ears, “How’s that? Are you angry? Lan Zhan, you probably don’t know this, but I love seeing you angry……”
His tone was filled with reckless excitement. (95)
So no, I don't think LWJ had to learn to not be abusive towards WWX. I think LWJ contrasts jc in other ways. The better parallel to WWX's relationship w jc is XXC/Xue Yang.

Random Untamed Alchemist Thoughts: Wei Wuxian and Jiang Cheng being Brothers™ Edition

“WEI WUXIAN, YOU IDIOT!” A voice bellows down the streets of Central.
A tourist startles, blinks, and then gulps at the sound of crumbling architecture.
A passing local sighs and walks over, patting them comfortingly on the shoulder.
“Don’t worry. That just means it’s Tuesday.”

In-jokes. So many in-jokes. And the problem is because Jiang Cheng can’t really do subtle body language anymore, all their in-jokes are word related, which is fine until Nie Mingjue is in the middle of a debrief and the two start giggling because he said the word “calculate.”
Nie Mingjue wonders if that’s what young people find funny these days. He worries about his brother becoming a teenager.

Wei Wuxian, 3am: Hey, Jiang Cheng?
Jiang Cheng: Hm?
Wei Wuxian: Where do babies come from?
Jiang Cheng: .....you’ve gotta be kidding me.

It’s not an uncommon sight to see them tucked away in a corner of a train, Wei Wuxian with his tongue sticking out as he carefully paints along the back of Jiang Cheng’s arm. Jiang Cheng watches him silently. They are in their own little world.

A mistake with a room booking accidentally names Wei Wuxian the untrained alchemist. Jiang Cheng makes it his life mission to use it at every possible opportunity.

Wei Wuxian and Jiang Cheng both believe Lan Xichen and Lan Wangji are unnatural. No brothers should get along as well as they do - It’s strange! Stop being so nice to each other!
Unfortunately, for their entire childhood the Lans are the only other pair of siblings they know (their village is small, okay!), so they spend years second-guessing themselves, asking are we the weird ones? Should we not bicker as much as we do? Oh no, do we get a bad grade in Sibling? Not helped by their brilliant, sweet, gentle sister, who’s existence just adds fuel to the confused fire.
It’s only when they go to Central that they realise that, hey, we were right! The Lans are the odd ducks!
The Lans receive a postcard detailing how Wei Wuxian and Jiang Cheng watched two kid brothers wrestling in the street with great interest, signed off with a TOLD YOU SO!
The Lans are bewildered.

Wei Wuxian, 4am, the same night: But...People say it’s to do with stalks! And they must be involved because it’s called the birds and the bees, right?
Jiang Cheng: I’m going to knock you out in a minute.

They are both masters of deflection, to a fault. Unlike Ed and Al, who, while it hurts, will open up and have raw emotional conversations, both together and with other people, Wei Wuxian and Jiang Cheng...are not like that.
Wei Wuxian deflects with humour, pouting, and whining, doing basically anything which will slide attention away from what is his biggest regret in life, and the thing that causes him an insane amount of guilt. I’ve mentioned before that he ignores his own trauma, stating that Jiang Cheng has suffered worse, and he will very literally bury all his unhappy emotions and plaster a smile on his face.
The mask does crumble, occasionally. Often it’s behind Jiang Cheng’s back, when no one can see him. Think this scene in fma brotherhood (spoilers and animated blood/gore/body horror - skip to 0:12 to miss it), only Wei Wuxian keeps up the act instead of crumbling like Ed and Al.
Jiang Cheng keeps up the act too, only his act is different.
He gets angry. He huffs and scoffs and grits his figurative teeth about anything and everything. His front is a facade of grumpiness wrapped up in a spiky tin can. And because he doesn’t have an expressive face, it’s so easy for him to push forward this confident image of someone who will break people’s legs if they get on his nerves.
And, to be fair, he has always had a temper, he has always rolled his eyes and grumbled about his brother’s antics. This isn’t out of left field. But what people, minus Wei Wuxian and the Lans, don’t realise is that behind all that he is shy, and awkward, and insecure as hell. He doesn’t know what he’s meant to do with this body - does he get excited about getting his proper one back? That just hurts Wei Wuxian. Does he accept it and own it? But that just makes him scary and then people never talk to him like a human. He’s confused, and lost, and doesn’t dare ask his brother for fear of making him spiral in his own guilt, so Jiang Cheng just sort of exists and hates it and lets his gruffness do the talking for him.
They’re both a mess.

The fact that they are not blood brothers has never mattered in any way, except for one vital moment.
The moment they tried to bring their sister back.
They don’t share DNA. They don’t share genetics. When they were placing the ingredients into the centre of their transmutation circle, they’d only used Jiang Cheng’s blood, in case they accidentally started pulling Wei Wuxian’s dead family back.
Then they failed, and Jiang Cheng was taken, and Wei Wuxian had to fuse his brother to a suit of armour, without any way of knowing if his blood, his different, non-related blood, would work.
He has never told Jiang Cheng this. But when he fused Jiang Cheng’s soul to the armour, he was doing so blind and running on pure adrenaline. He got lucky, the fact that they aren’t related didn’t matter, only the seal and the exchange did, but there have been many nights, usually when Wei Wuxian is alone, where he’s stared at the ceiling and wondered, what if my blood hadn’t worked? What if nothing happened? What if I lost Jiang Cheng, too?

Jiang Cheng works very, very, very hard not to resent his brother.
It’s something he never voices aloud to anyone, but there is a small line of jealousy that fractures through him, whenever he sees him eating nice food, or holding their nephew, or stroking Lan Sizhui’s pet bunny. He wants, so badly, to be able to feel and taste and smell things again. And Wei Wuxian is not a subtle person, when he finds something amazing he puts his whole body into its praise.
Jiang Cheng is always at his moodiest on the days when he wants.

Jiang Cheng, on the phone to Lan Xichen: Hey, so, random thing.
Lan Xichen, having pulled an all-nighter to finish automail, very tired, would like to sleep please, why are you ringing me at 6am?: Yes?
Jiang Cheng: Wei Wuxian, because he’s a dumbass, asked me where babies came from. And of course I know, why wouldn’t I? Everyone does! Haha! But for the sake of, like, explaining it clearly to him, my stupid brother, how would you explain where babies come from?
Lan Xichen: .....I have discovered the reason why people drink.
