Do you guys think the reason Jason didn’t have his own teen titans is that when he did go on his first mission with them, Donna freaked out over Dick leaving and left 15 yo Jason in charge of a group of adults, Wally got shot, Hawk kept trying to kill everybody, and then he got stuck keeping Jade from killing Roy after she revealed that they had a daughter. ON TOP OF ALL THAT he was in the Swiss alps in the middle of winter without pants. Like do you think he went through all that and decided he was never going through that shit again.

Cheshire (on her friend's phone): I recognize that voice... Jason?

Jason: Yes? Who is this?

Cheshire: Oh... so you’re the 'Bae' labeled on her phone. I wondered who this was. Well hello again, Jason. This is Cheshire. You know, Roy's ex-wife. How's he doing, by the way?

Jason: I'm sorry I blacked out ... Where is Rose?

Cheshire: Oh, sorry! Yeah, she dropped her phone in the middle of a fight with this guy, and I saw you called. Being a good friend, I—

Rose (in the background): Would you put the phone down and help me!

Cheshire: Hold on, I'm talking to your BF. So, Jason, how you been?

Rose (enraged): WHAT?!

Jason: Um, this isn't Jason Todd; this is... Jason Voorhees.

Roy: Really?

Jason sighed, embarrassed. Cheshire giggled as Rose flew past her, tossed by the large man she was fighting. Rose stood up and angrily marched over to Cheshire, snatching her phone away.

Rose: I'll call you back.

Jason (weakly): Okay.

Rose ended the call and glared at Cheshire, who smirked and crossed her arms. The assassin shrugged and turned to take her turn at fighting the criminal. Rose groaned, closing her eyes.

Rose: God damn it. I should've labeled him something else.

Jade Nguyen grew up in an undisclosed location in rural Viet Nam, the child of a French soldier and a Vietnamese villager.  As a child, Jade was abducted and forced into slavery. She eventually murdered her enslaver and traveled the countryside until she came across the Chinese freedom fighter Weng Chan. The soldier took in Jade and taught her all he knew about martial arts and guerrilla combat. 

Jade additionally acquired an advanced knowledge of poisons from the famed assassin known as the Spitting Cobra.  Naming herself ‘Cheshire’ she set out to become a renown mercenary and assassin.  To this end she battled The Teen Titans on several occasions.  Somewhere herein she had an affair with the Titan, Speedy (Roy Harper); an affair that produced a daughter (Lian).  Cheshire served among the Suicide Squad, the Injustice Society and Secret Six.  

The Young Justice animated series reimagined Jade’s backstory, presenting her as the older sister of Artemys Crock and daughter of the super villains, Sportsmater and Tigress.  This version also became a renown assassin and matched wits against the Young justice squad; and likewise had a child with Roy Harper.  Yet another iteration of the character featured in the animated movie, Batman: Soul of the Dragon as a young student of the martial arts master, O’Sensei. 

Actress Kelly Hu voiced Jade in Young Justice; whereas actress Jamie Chung voiced the character in Batman: Soul of the Dragon.  

Cheshire first appeared in the pages of The New Teen Titans Annual #2 (1983).

Hi tumblr, have this sad Jade, Roy, and Lian drawing I recently just finished. The lighting looks wonky to me but oh well,,, anyway I wanted to show how jade loves them by showing that she’s close but can’t bring herself to join them. They stay in the warmth and light of the inside, while she stays in the dark,,,, Anyway I’m a little proud of the proud of the perspective 😅

A Veggie Tale

Roy enters the small kitchen of his and Lian's apartment. Lian is sitting at the table, shoveling beef and broccoli with white rice into her mouth. He looks amused.

Roy: Hey.

Alarmed, Lian turns to look at Roy, her mouth still bulging with her meal. She swallows and looks contrite.

Lian: Sorry. I didn't eat lunch and it was right in the fridge.

Roy: It's fine. When did you start liking broccoli?

Lian: I think it was sometime after I was taken. I was, like, making a deal with anybody who was listening and I promised that I would never whine about eating vegetables again if I could be with you, Dinah, and Ollie again. Plus, when you're a street kid and "freegan" is the only option, you can't be picky.

Roy, sitting down: Okay. So if we grew some veggies on the roof, you know a little garden or something, what would you like to have?

Lian: Tomatoes, definitely. Maybe we can do the "Three Sisters" thing with squash and corn.

Roy: We could grow kale.

Lian, grimacing: Ugh, kale is evil. Vandal Savage probably puts kale on his BLTs.

Roy: Probably. Can I please have some of MY beef and broccoli?

Lian: My germs are all over it now.

Roy: Well, half of your germs came from me, so pass it over.
