i can’t get over the fact that when ronan first saw adam riding his bike he thought “please”. the fact that ronan used to sleep on the floor next to adam at his place at st. agnes. the fact that he told adam to get inside a shopping cart and then jumped after him. the fact that he never forced him to move to monmouth. the fact that he dreamt a hand lotion for adam. the fact that adam was the first person he invited to the barns. the fact that he paid for adam’s tuiton. the fact that he told adam he might’ve dreamt him. the fact that in ronan’s eyes adam was always elegant and beautiful . the fact that in ronan’s dreams he kissed adam’s hands. the fact that adam made him smile as honestly as matthew did. the fact that when ronan kissed him he felt as much adrenaline as he did when he was racing. the fact that adam was the only other person chainsaw had a name for besides ronan. the fact that it wasn’t enough for them to say “i love you”, they always say “you are my second self”.

everyone talks about how in love Ronan is but was no one going to tell me how smitten Adam is in the dreamers trilogy???

oh yeah don’t mind me i’m just thinking about how blue and gansey are technically the main characters of this story but it’s still not entirely about them and how ronan isn’t the hero of this story but he is the hero of a story that branches off from it and how adam would’ve been the villain in a worse version of the story but he had too much loyalty to the narrative to let his friends go and how the story could never be about noah but it also could never be about anyone except for noah

in love with how ronan said i hate my brother and then married a cold logical man who is obsessed with both his success and looking presentable 24/7 and then declan said ugh fuck that jackass ronan and then married a baddie covered with tattoos who loves self expression and has a wicked mouth.

"Ronan put Adam’s fingers to his mouth. He was never sleeping again.”

This line blows my mind each time I read it because Ronan's entire being is based upon dreaming, not in the way that his dreaming is all that makes him, but in that if he does not dream, he dies due to his nightwash. Yet, after Adam kisses him back and returns his feelings for him, and he kisses the hands he has worshipped since the start of his feelings for Adam, he says he will never sleep again. I can't put into words the magnitude of Ronan, a being whose life is dependent on dreaming and thus sleeping, to say he will never sleep again after he kisses the hands of the boy who he has been in love with for such a long time. That if Ronan could stay awake for the rest of his life kissing Adam's fingers, he would even if it did mean his death? How can Maggie write such things and move on with her life? How??
