Ok I find it incredibly amusing that people are still reblogging my "Susan Foreman is The One Who Waits" post because it's officially redundant, but I'm calling it now that I was right about Mrs Flood.
Like the “slightly bumbling autistic person who is sometimes accidentally sinister and knows stuff she shouldn't” is… that's the whole plot of An Unearthly Child. That's the exact reason why all this started in the first place - because Susan being like that weirded Ian and Barbara out so much that they followed her home and got kidnapped. Also, Susan was telepathic, so she could have sensed Sutekh's presence.
I'm also still convinced that she's Ruby's mother.
Interested to see where they go with this!
#Yes last night's episode made me SOB#“did you think I was family?” was so raw such a good line#The cliffhanger before the opening titles made me bounce up and down excitedly#In AUC there's a moment where Susan tells Ian and Barbara “he won't let you leave” when they're trapped in the TARDIS#and that's really what I was reminded of in that scene with Cherry and Mrs Flood#There's also a moment where she terrifies Ian in that first ep seemingly just to make him understand who she is#So yeah Mrs Flood being Susan is plausible!!!! And I'm very excited!!!!!#Morally-grey-ish Susan would be very interesting tbf#doctor who theory#doctor who spoilers#doctor who series 14#fifteenth doctor#the doctor#15th doctor#the legend of ruby sunday#mrs flood#cherry sunday#susan foreman

when it's been so long since you've read a fic that you forget about it and you find it in the search tags and start reading it again
and it's great, if a little familiar, but you've read a lot of these sorts of fics bc you like this tag a lot, so you assume it's nothing
but then the deja vu starts adding up and you start to wonder
and then moments before the great big Plot Twist Reveal happens you're suddenly like ah hell this is the bloody sundial fic again isn't it
smh this has to be the fourth time yet
#not that I don't love that fic bc I do#but also this is quite funny to me#have I made this post already? I don't remember#mdzs fic#time travel fix it#I love that tag#iceberg tags under see all#bc sm of the fandoms I'm in have such messed-up backstories that it works#it's funny. like for the media that doesn't have as dark backstories ttfi doesn't really make sense (although time loop might!!)#mdzs and st go perfectly with it as does hp (ew)#pjo not as much bc the big bad stuff (for the most part) happens much further down the line in canon than in the first few chapters#like. b99 and idk descendants of the sun or haikyuu wouldn't really work#ik it doesn't HAVE TO but I've also noticed this trend where ttfi is more common in fandoms where it's somehow plausible by the magic syste#haikyuu just does not have that magic system lol (for example)#whereas jjk? maybe. aot? probably not physically/magically but it's got such a messy timeline that at this point why not honestly#tbf the second time I read that fic I did get legitimately surprised by the plot twist#pjo#percy jackson#stranger things#atla? maybe. like it would be weird but still sorta plausible using spirit shenanigans#hp and mdzs by way of their 'hard' magic system side - wards/arrays and the like#pjo by the gods ig?? so kinda like atla with the deus ex machina and not exactly soft nor hard side of their magic systems#cinematic universes? depends but for the marvel ones it's plausible for studio ghibli idek man for kpop music videos sometimes.#not tagging hp lol#terfs dni#like literally if you've made it this far down my notes already if you're a TERF please just fuck off or block me or smth#anyway anyone know about monsta x?#they have time travel literally baked into their concept so I bet there's time travel fix it tropes over in that fandom#I don't really touch rpf these days so idk#if you have any good recs you can argue for I'd be willing to try them ig?

My theory is that there are two types of Vulcan OCs
The first type is an OC that is named very carefully and intentionally
And the second type is an OC whose name is testing just how silly Vulcan names could be
#i have done both#star trek#ok but tbf you could name a Vulcan character Shrek and it would be plausible#star trek ocs#vulcan

i think the most intense "he would not fucking say that" experience i've ever had wasn't even towards a fictional character, it was the time i found out that there are A Surprising Number Of People who genuinely believe that the famous cheesy self-love quote "be yourself, everybody else is taken" was said by oscar wilde. first time i saw it i felt my brain grind to a complete still as i tried to process whether that was somehow true despite seeming so entirely out of sync with anything else attributed to oscar wilde. (it is not true! it literally just isn't! he did not fucking say that!)
#and tbf there are quite a few quotes attributed to ow that are like#he probably didnt actually say that or at least didnt say it when people say he did#(eg the quote about the wallpaper was not actually his literal last words)#but at least those are a) something he could plausibly have said#and b) arguably part of the 'figure' of oscar wilde as it were#but 'ooh be yourself' really?? really???#apparently it was something like a facebook post 20 years ago claimed it was a wilde quote#no one bothered to fact check that and now you can buy it on etsy tote bags#sorry i have a normal level of interest in the works of oscar wilde (<- lying)#my post#personal#wilde

early game with xarrai is so funny because he’s out here like “shadowheart you have to trust me. you have to tell me your whole life story” “SERIOUSLY gale what is the deal with the magic items?” meanwhile every other word out of this dude’s mouth is a lie. he’s given every party member a different entirely untrue backstory. wyll thinks he grew up in the circus. he makes up an entire fake city with fake customs so he can tell lae’zel she’s done something incredibly offensive to him and his culture whenever he’s annoyed at her. he’s constantly giving everyone these Very Serious looks and telling them to trust him meanwhile he is lying through his teeth about everything. he’s such a fucking clown
#he’s More or Less honest about being in baldur’s gate as a bard/courtesan the last ~10 years#but anything before that? or any Specific details? it’s lies all the way down#he Is weaseling everyone’s info out of them though. constantly.#wyll brings up the circus thing once and he’s straight up like ‘what are you talking about. i never said that. 💅’#gaslight gatekeep girlboss for real.#the lae’zel one is a open secret but no one stops to think they r also being lied to bc it’s all pretty plausible stories.#i don’t think he necessarily gives astarion one of the fake stories i think he gives him Nothing until he tells him the truth lol#they r deception proficiency girlies 4 lyfe#end of act 2 he’s like ‘lol jk i was raised in a cult. sorry for going kinda batshit on ketheric. no further questions.’#but wyll doesn’t rly see this as conflicting with the circus story. he assumes the circus was a cult. which tbf is a fair assumption.#oc. xarrai

ngl choosing a fictional character or a weird common noun for a name was so deeply cringe to me even when i was in the depths of my non binary self id moment. like youre gonna use this name irl. at university. at work even. why would you call yourself fern. are you retarded. i wouldnt have said retarded back then but like are you??? bc that giving retarded
#m#i think also the fact that choosing smh a fictional character has would have me be called#like. dirk. in a spanish speaking country. could you imagine. not only a homestuck name but also a boy gringo name. itd be deranged#sorry to everyeone but i was built different i chose a name that had plausible deniability on purpose.#an uncommon name? sure. but still believable imho#my backup was gonna be masculine version of my middle name too like. just in case vega didnt work out lol#god why was i applying so much insanity logic to this. like i really put so much work into it lmao#like tbf it payed off i still use vega i think its a nice name its as much me as my legal name is. but like jsjsd what was wrong w me

i would love for someone that’s never seen elite to tell me which of these actors they think is supposed to be her twin and which is supposed to be her love interest
#now tbf#it could be confusing because ari's 'love interest' is pretty much any guy on the show at this point#but#they really didnt even try to find actors that looked alike for ari and patrick lmao#they dont even look like they could be in the same family tree#let alone TWINS#and it makes me giggle#they're so unserious#like tbf ander and carla dont look that much alike either#but it's at least far more plausible

Awww, did her baby sister teach Vera nothing? Any of them can come from anywhere, at any time. They’re always there. Always just out of sight.
It’s such an important lesson, especially if she’s going to have Amanda as her sister-in-law.
#Don't you want devoted followers? || Amanda IC#The rumor mill || Dash Commentary#Bony eared Assfish || Crack#spkyscry#(( AH. she's gotten started again.#(( tbf if vera does take that ul'kiha offer#(( amanda WILL know about their relationship again. because it has to be filed and Known within the merkingdom too.#(( and lack of plausible deniability just enables her

@toaarcan I find your thoughts geniuely fascinatig and wnat to comment on the full thing when i have more time but right now I have to respond to this
Since given how the most contentious and divisive character in my other fandom is literally just "Toa Tuyet but anime girl" my reaction to this is comment just.
youtube
You know, I find the difference between how the fandom treats Nidhiki and how the fandom treats Tuyet rather fascinating.
Because both of them are traitorous Toa Mangai who betrayed their team (and thus the ideal of Toa) for their own selfish gains. Both are characters who can be read either sympathetically or as completely selfish and vile characters. And lastly both are mean to represent the different ways a toa can fall to the dark side by having their vices and flaws win over their virtues.
Yet despite of those similarities, I have noticed people tend to be far more sympathetic to Nidhiki than Tuyet. People tend to give Nidhiki far more sympathetic towards his circumstances, minimize his flaws and outright wish he had been redeemed. While with Tuyet is at best seen as an interesting and somewhat complex villain, or at worst as a tyrannical lunatic.
It is easy to chalk this dichotomy up to Nidhiki being canonically more sympathetic than Tuyet, but I don't think that's necessarily the case. If we go by Greg's own commentary, his intention was other way around. For Greg Nidhiki was a selfish opportunist with few sympathetic traits, while Tuyet was someone who took her noble goals too far. Greg also has stated multiple times Tuyet is not evil, but rather insane (something that has it's own can of worms but thats neither here or there)
As such, we can easily think the dichotomy is either misogynistic doublestandards of sympathizing with a male villain while demonizing a female one in spite of the latter being less heinous, or yet another case of fans disagreeing with Greg. And while either of those conclusions are understandable, I think to simplify it would be rather dismissive and disingenous. As I do tink there are a few reasons why this is at play beyond misogynistic doublestandards or fans disagreeing with Greg for the fiftieth time.
Firstly, while Nidhiki was meant to be unsympathetic and selfish, his hints of a tragic backstory™ kinda muddy that interesting. If Nidhiki was meant to be a selfish powerhungry jerk, why then tell the audience he had to survive his whole life in one of the harshest conditions in Matoran Universe. Knowing Nidhiki's upbringing in TK Peninsula, it makes his actions far more understandable and sympathetic than if we knew where he came on. Tuyet meanwhile has no backstory or mindset that explains her motivations and goals, beyond her viewing Toa as too weak-willed to protect matoran. As such, it is easy to read her as a totalitarian despot who wants to control others, than anything more.
Secondly, Nidhiki is far more likable than Tuyet in their respective backstory oneshots. Tuyet in MDOTT is largely characterized as rather curt, nononsenical and somewhat manipuative, making her hard to sympathize for the audience. Contrast this to Nidhiki in MDOTT and BOADH, who while flawed is given more likable traits. Nidhiki is shown to be witty, clever and a bit of a snarker, which make him more endearing to the audience in spite of his impulsivity and selfishness being clearly present. Paired with BOADH being largely from his POV (and thus, allowing us to see his perspective, reasonings and mentality), it just makes Nidhiki a far easier character to root for than Tuyet, who is presented as an antagonist in her story.
Lastly, Nidhiki is just a character most fans have more connection to due his importance in the overarching story. Nidhiki was an already established antagonist in a main story arc, who'se backstory was mysteriously intriguing before being later expanded on. Tuyet meanwhile is a serial exclusive character first introduced as a plotdevice corpse, who was given a backstory to explain who she was while beinng alive and later used because she presented many interestig opportunities and potential. As such, people are more likely to be interested in the character present in the main story than the one who mainly exists in supplemential material.
But yeah that's just my own two cents on this as a Nidhiki fan who likes both characters. There's also the way how Tuyet does far worse things than Nidhiki and has far steadfast morality, but I feel I have talked about those earlier so I digress.
#ok tbf that character is as divisive as she is because she does bad shit yet is portrayed relatively sympathetically by the narrative#like. this is the woman who starts the fucking war to fix society#so ppl just argue which matters more. the fact she started war or the fact she wanted to fix the society#meanwhile im just ''shes a generic uwu postergirl waifu w tragic backstory so demonizing her as a facist warmonger is pointless''#given how the game is clearly not interested in portraying her as a bad or even complicated figure and instead frames her sympathetically#like there's some lip service but mostly the game is just ''she did bad things for good thing'' but its just that lipservice#but honestly I am definitely curious of if people would have 50 years of Tuyet discourse if she was portrayed more sympathetically#I mean given the way people treat Helryx it is plausible. but I digress

I was imagining an au where Yanli lives (as in doesn't go to the Nightless City/doesn't run into the fight) but everything else goes the same and came to a possible* conclusion that. Lan Wanji might not like her at all. For the same reason he dislikes Jiang Cheng - her lack of action to save Wei Wuxian. And also a general dislike for the Jins.
*(I say possible because he also could just as easily realize she doesn't exactly have much of a voice in her situation and she also is a genuinely pleasant person. But tbf it's not like he's known for being rational about Wei Wuxian so either outcome is entirely plausible to me.)
Ignoring how much of an impact Yanli's survival has on the rest of the plot I just wanted to bring it up because, unlike Wei Wuxian's general ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ attitude about Lan Wangji's dislike of Jiang Cheng, there is absolutely no way he would tolerate Lan Wangji disliking Yanli even when Wei Wuxian realizes it's in defense of himself so the mental image of Lan Wanji at war with his natural desire to please Wei Wuxian vs his just as natural desire to forever be an asshole to anyone he doesn't like is fun.
#don't take this as lwj hate or criticism it's just me having a thought! based on his established character traits#of 1) projecting his grief and guilt over wwx onto jc 2) his treatment of jl a child as an extension of jc and 3) irrationality over wwx#feel free to disagree but keep it chill okay#lan wangji#jiang yanli#wei wuxian#wangxian#mdzs#mo dao zu shi#grandmaster of demonic cultivation#i'm saying stuff

Ok, I'm entering my villain (& heroes!) arch aajshashasa. This stupid fixation of superpowers and fiction comic stories.
WELL, HOT TAKE OF THE DAY:
The majority of superpowers in fiction and oc's are boring because they're straightforward. Picture it, there's aaaaaaaaaaaaaaalways someone with the power of:
Mimic someone's power
Invisivility
Steel skin
Puppeteer or any variation of body and mind manipulation (because *wink wink* we're all edgys and saw creepypastas a lot hashas)
Perhaps fly
Ultra speed
And shit like that ajshashasa. Don't get me wrong, those are amazing superpowers. Even just one person in a normal-esque world is a fucking anomaly and represents a game changer.
HOWEVER it's quite boring and honestly quite lazy. Because oh yes! The evil twisted villain of the wee has the power of... mind control. OH BOY! I fucking wonder what is gonna happen! (sacarsm). Or shadow control powers or super force and you know the rest. WHAT a twist! (/s).
And the same goes for the heroes that GOD forbid they're not teenagers or young adults in well shaped bodies BECAUSE UUUUUUFFFFFFFFFF. Call me crazy but if you can fly I doubt you're using at all your muscles the same way a common person does ahshasa. But why fucking not, we can never have enough twinks and women in spandex, can we? ahshahsa.
There's no twist and creative work in a superheroe or a villain or whatever that has JUST that exact power that conveniently works.
I'm a slut for the characters with random and incoherent powers!
That's where this shit goes hard. Beacuse it's so easy to be a superhero whn you can walk through walls or move at high speed. But what happens when you have the power to deconstruct objetcs? Fly just 50 cm off the groud? Exact knowledge of the pupulation in Taiwan (while you live in Argentina)?
What happens to them??? I wanna see the shenanigans, the creative solutions to abnormal problems! And what happens to the powers that become a burden or that straight up are incompatible with the common society. What happens if you're born without bones? If TV signals sometimes cross without way to evade it into your mind?
I wanna see creative villains. With powers like super healing and bubblegum madness. Concidental induction and urbomancy. Hhahshahsas
The thing is not actually that the pwoers are common or simple, the thing is for me that the weaponization in battle is the number one thought. Like, yeah, I bet turning sound waves into lethal blades is powerful but out of battle, does it matter? It means somethig? Can you cut a frozen pizza for dinner or you destroy your whole kitchen?
(Tbf, a story a bout a character struggling to see beyond his powers shapped to battle could be interesting BUT that's another story ahsahsas).
And I'm also bored of the god-like powers. You can fly and you can control minds! For free I guess and with no real consequences. Bceause let's be serious, Spidermand and Superman as archetypes of the hero had their own limitation (not precisely linked to their powers by themselves BUT WHATEVER). They're more or less the exception to this.
I Wanna See Limits
LIMITS. I care 0 if the character can eat the fucking Sun. What I want to see is that power in personal impact and relativity. Sometimes the right (or wrong!) word has more power that destroying the Earth. And a lot of it comes from the limitations. How easy is everything when you have all the power, but the limitations are what shape the plausibility, the humanity and the imagination around it. For example Magneto. It's because of his clear limitations that he scaping from the plastic underground prison in the movies is so fantastic. He uses a creative solution to work around his limits. Amazing!
Idk man, Brandon Sanderson said this shit already. Go see him go see him.

headcanons I have for ghouls. this is just my silly head canons that have no true importance
I think of Alan as mixed nationalities, maybe not mixed race. but, I headcanon him personally as his mom being an American and dad being native Japanese. For sillies but also because of the connection to cars, although cars made in America are not so common anymore Mechanic culture is super huge especially in places like rural America because there is a lot space to drive. TBF this could also work a lot with Australia and would almost be more plausible due to the immigration between the countries being quite a bit more common. Doesn't change much either way. I believe Yuri to be half Russian literally just because I had a dream about him being Russian. That's all I like to imagine Zenji and Jiro as children who grew up in a military family so their childhood was spent moving around from country to country. I believe that sparked Zenji striving for a cultural connection with his Japanese culture because as a child being seperated from it so he sought it out. I imagine their family being quite traditional also, for obvious reasons with Zenji, but also the name choice for Jiro being seen as very typical, or old school. We actually don't really know if Jiro retains a lot of his personality pre-incident. Even if he doesn't lose his memory of who he was I imagine his chronic illness being quite draining resulting in him being very subdued.
If you have just plain old headcanons not really based on anything lore-wise and just for your personal enjoyment Please share!

bon sang, DEUX chaussures? dans CETTE économie?
This is my fault for using google translate instead of looking stuff up properly but I was wondering what the spanish equivalent to "goody two shoes" was and uh,
no, I don't think that's it, actually 😐
#i did try it with two-shoes hyphenated as well#same thing#tbf sometimes it does suggest plausible translations#so sometimes i'll do the same thing#the bad answers are usually worth a laugh at least
