so, in my first run thoughts, i was pretty sure corey was going in the pit ngl. now, i'm not so sure. we know that dylan is alive, or at least didn't die in the 1990s, she's alive as of 2022. i think corey is a red herring? like we were meant to not like him so we wouldn't feel bad if he was thrown in the pit ... but so many theories with kat, dylan, and corey and like everything leave it so open. with the ARG involved, erin and her mother and all the theories on that? so much to consider. there are theories kat or dylan is erin's mother, that erin's mother's friend is the potential fifth member or erin's mother is the fifth member if her mother isn't kat or dylan (we know it can't be nora, autumn, or swann).

so, in truth or dare, nora gets asked who she'd like to be handcuffed to, and you can (in theory) influence the decision by choosing yourself, kat, or autumn. the first time, we picked kat, so she picked kat. this time, as we are going for kat and not autumn, we picked autumn ... but nora still picks kat. their chemistry is undeniable, and nora also confirms in that scene a) she was never into guys, but was hiding it, and b) she will pick kat no matter what.

so, you find some of this in chapter 1 ... they're called 'voodoo dolls' as the intractable name, but i think they kind of look like wara ningyo dolls:

Wara ningyō are used extensively as wards against evil. During the Heian period, wara ningyō would be placed along the sides of the roads for protection against plague. It was hoped that the evil spirits that brought disease would nest in the straw bodies instead of living human bodies. Afterward, the straw dolls would be discarded into a river, which would also purify the evil spirits. "Wara ningyō are popular devices in a number of dark rituals. They are combined with something from the recipient of the curse, such as a piece of hair. This transforms the doll into a substitute for the intended target. Long nails are pushed through the wara ningyō, harming the subject as well as the doll."

with all the talk of curses, witch references, the time stuff that could be involved, etc ... idk, this makes some sense to me. it could be more of an inspiration instead of a direct 1-for-1, but idk! my thoughts so far are that it's at least inspired by the wara ningyo

this follows this method of cursing.

the girls get rid of the wara ningyo, which doesn't seem to be cursed, but also get rid of the pentacle. so ... they ditch all the good luck from the cabin. ouch.

if this is following a sort of inspired by this lore, that would make sense. combined with the fact that no one speaks of kat as really coming to the bar to meet them or even living, it's been suggested kat might have somehow become 'scattered' in the town, perhaps even through the ravens? she is symbolically connected to them, arguably her spirit animal?

my doc is way too small to encompass all of my verses, but here's what i have for nathan: you can assume somehow sean and mark fit into most, if not all of these plots / verses / crossovers

all LIS variations, including double exposure + post!prison / post!game (i have like a million verses and subverses for the LIS universe) ... yet to crossover much into LIS 2 but i will eventually!

a split off the LIS universe where nathan is hospitalized in the main timeline

more "life is normal" ... it's kind of like it removes the rachel is missing / dark room plot, so nathan is still suffering and doing bad things, but the idea is that it's more of a modern take on LIS so more characters

DN is very inverted to reality, so it's not impossible imo. nathan's family would openly worship kira imo.

some general period pieces would be cool: 1920s-1990s, even some edwardian or victorian stuff, but ig if you like bsi, that works for me lmao

rachel always had this innate way of conveying everything chloe wanted and needed to hear.

how did she know all the right things to say? it's like she had done this all before. rachel would have assuaged she didn't have to often; how most things with chloe were first times and easy guesses.

she cares cared about chloe.

isn't that enough? to care about someone? that's all chloe's ever craved — for someone to care / someone to stay.

just don't leave. that's always chloe's only demand. it feels like it should be so simple to ask, but she has determined it is the biggest burden to request. stay. don't leave me.

no one can follow through. she's learned to stop asking.

and it wasn't long until rachel had come into her life. when rachel left, max returned. nothing is a coincidence, chloe has learned. not in arcadia bay. is it a sick joke? to not be able to have them both? chloe sometimes wonders if all three of them are allowed to even exist together.

rachel is gone. chloe keeps dying. max is the remaining constant. she is the judge and jury, so she can at least let chloe be the executioner, right?

let me choose my executioner. if it has to be that asshole, nathan prescott? let it be him. fucker will go right down with me. my death will be what saves rachel from being forgotten for good. if i have to die for her to have justice? ... i've learned the hand isn't swift enough. i have to be.

memories of rachel are painful now. she lays in her bed and smokes joints to dull it out, but nothing works. she remembers the weight of rachel's body next to her, noticing now how empty this room feels. had it always been so lonely? is this lonely?

you know, rachel had told her, you are the most important thing in the world to me.

this is how she knows for sure that rachel wouldn't just leave her. there is nothing formidable enough in these bones to make chloe believes otherwise. nothing that could convince her that rachel just skipped town, and that's ... that's the best fucking option right now.

rachel is here. she's nearby. i know she is.

chloe hates that. if rachel is close, that means she never left, and if rachel never even fucking left, then that means rachel is fucking dead.

nothing else matters BUT RACHEL. finding her. chloe's only reason for even hanging around here in arcadia bay — for even being alive — is to find rachel. she has to. if it was the other way around, rachel would have burned this town to ashes to get her chloe back.

how can chloe be so nonchalant? hanging up posters around a campus that seems to want to forget? it is regret that drives chloe to continue.
