I mean like objectively... Yeah. But also. Why you gotta say it like that
my biggest suggestion for this is ask questions! it keeps the conversation going, you seem interested in them and you learn a lot!
#half of this is just me complaining obviously#but the other half of me is autistic as fuck and has been trying to learn communication for my entire life#and it's really not something that you can just 'learn to do right'#because you're always going to miss something or piss someone off regardless#like yes! we shouldn't just accept that communication is hard and then never do it again! that's stupid!#but also we should be mindful of the people that struggle at an extreme disadvantage#because AS one of those people i can singlehandedly confirm that I would NOT appreciate somebody saying this to my face#and it's NOT because I'm sensitive#it's because claims like this tend to be closed off from other experiences and come off as THEIR claims are correct#and if you struggle well then that's your fault#and i don't like that.#not one bit.#because it's not my fault.#I'm fucking autistic.#talk to my genetics.#and also my brain that quite literally stopped developing correctly#i might be able to express myself ācorrectlyā here through text but if any of you saw me and tried talking to me irl you'd probably explode#because masking through text is a lot fucking easier than masking through face to face contact.#and I'm growing tired of knowing that and people just ASSUMING it's because I'm not ātrying hard enoughā#i do#i try so hard#it just doesn't always work out

The reason Conner Kent and Tim Drake make such a cute couple is because Tim is a freak and Conner just vibes with it. Tim might be a whacko that occasionally dabbles in stalking, who also has a habit of going absolute batshit crazy when someone he loves dies, and whoās also missing a spleenābut heās Connerās whacko so itās totally fine.
#and you know Konās like so proud of him too#like hell he at family dinner with Kentās and say like wow my boyfriend tried to genetically replicate me in a lab isnāt he smart#or heāll be talking to clark and be like yeah by bf once brought down a global assassin organization and killed thousands isnāt he the best#everyone else is like so caught off guard by how legitimately insane Tim can be but Kon just thinks heās rad#dc#dc comics#batfamily#tim drake is batshit crazy pun intended#chaotic tim drake#tim drake is a menace#tim drake#tim drake x conner kent#Red Robin#Red Robin x superboy#Red Robin comics#justice league

at some point in disability you stop wanting to "get better" and this is just really hard for able bodied people to understand for some reason
#i had an interaction with a doctor which prompted this#theyre almost certainly a quack but they promised they could find a cure for my eds#to be unequivocal no such thing exists eds is genetic and changing that is beyond the current limits of medicine in almost every case#i was there for regular blood testing and when they said this to me my response was pretty unenthusiastic#something like 'thats not really what im here for'#which was clearly completely baffling to the doctor#part of that has to do with the way doctors are really solution oriented but also#i dont really want to be 'cured'#its hard to explain but this is my body now and ive gotten used to it#what matters is my day to day quality of life not a return to 'normal'#in my eyes disability isnt a bad thing its a neutral one#the idea that im okay with being permanently disabled is intolerable to able bodied society#this doctor has a ton of pther red flags id like to separately post about but ive gone on long enough#to the person who sent me the ask about intersectionality bw transgender and disabled identity#i see you it just turns out a lot of research has been needed to answer you#a reply is coming tho#anyway#disability#salt baby talks#chronic illness#ehlers danlos syndrome#postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome#ableism

I think my favorite thing about doing ginger red hair instead of cherry red hair is: lying to people about it
#I love the cherry red / wine red and I'll probably go back at some point bc it's my Origin.#but for now.#I don't actively lie to people but bc it's a Natural and Plausible hair color#and I'm already pale and I dye my eyebrows to match my hair. ppl figure it's natural#and it has come up MULTIPLE TIMES. and I've recently been rolling with it instead of correcting ppl. bc who cares?#recent examples that come to mind (but I did correct them in this one) my surgeon assuming it was natural#and using my genetics as a natural redhead as a baseline to tell me about what I can expect from my future scarring#and then again later with the anesthesia. they were going to dose me differently#the anesthesiologist glanced at me when I came into the OR and was getting the stuff ready on his cart#and when he heard me talking to my doc and re-telling him that oh the hair isn't natural#he was behind the curtain like FUCK#taking shit off his cart and quietly redoing his setup#that's how I learned that redheads need higher doses of anesthesia than other ppl.#they also need more of the topical stuff like lidocaine. apparently they metabolize it faster(?)#ANYWAY he was going to up my dose thinking I needed it lol#so i almost got way more sedatives and pain meds than i needed bc of my hair dye LMAOOO#other more Normal Life examples was a country dude in full hunting gear holding a door open for me someplace#and I said thank you and he lifted his hat up to point at his (natural) red hair and said ''twins!''#this one sticks with me because that was such a cute thing to do. what the hell#and at snakefest I was talking to some people at their food truck. there was an older guy who trapped me into a convo for like 30mins#he was Very Nice. and they were going to some type of irish festival next and said I should go too bc I'll be right at home#flat out just was like. this bitch looks irish#and I don't know why all of this is so funny to me. it has no reason to be.

i'm getting a lot of ratiorine/aventio stuff at my Tumblr feed and i do love them, however i dont know if i have the brain capacity to write them since they're both extremely smart hahaha
#can i solve ratio's equations?#yes#can i talk like him?#no š#i may be smart but genius isnt my lifestyle#sure you dont teachnically have to be a genius to write ratio or aventurine well#but i like to be... informed (?) even when i'm merely illustrating such concepts#for example#when i was designing Howett and Chuuya's kids#i actually researched/studied a little on genetics to find out which genes the baby would realistically inherit from its parents#i could have just gone 'one baby looks like Howett and the other is its twin that looks like Chuuya'#but no#i considered that the twin gene in Chuuya or Howett's bloodline is scarce#i also considered that noone in Howett's heritage has ever had red hair#so the chance of their baby having red hair is near impossible due to the red hair gene being super recessive#disclaimer: this is not to say people cant just say 'fuck science' and do absolutely anything#you can#i implore you#i just personally like mixing the love i have for art with the love i have for science ^_^#it is so much fun#kanrambles

Tips for talking to someone with hearing loss
(this is what helps when people are talking to me, and when I'm talking to my relatives)
Make sure they can see your mouth. Lip-reading helps with clarity, and facing them while you talk also helps a lot with volume. People are really bad about getting your attention, starting to say something, then turning away mid sentence. Stay facing them the whole time!!! (People are the worst about this while we are shopping together!)
Be comfortable with repeating yourself. Either they will ask you to repeat yourself, or you will realize they misheard you. Both of these are fine- just repeat yourself clearly and make sure they can see your face while you do. "Never mind" makes me sad :(
If someone misheard you: try rewording your sentence! Maybe certain sounds are harder for them to hear than other sounds. Instead of "grab that shampoo!" three times at increasing volume, try "grab that blue bottle, the one next to the conditioner" or "I like that dandruff shampoo up there, can you put it in the cart?" There are a lot of ways to rephrase things that will give the person you're talking to more chances to understand, and it feels much less patronizing for everyone. And make sure you're facing them so they can see your mouth!!!
If someone misheard you: try a Yes, And approach. If your grandma didn't understand your question and starts telling you an unrelated story, enjoy it! When she is finished, thank her, and then try asking your question again with more clarity, or worded differently. "No, that's not what I said" is much less enjoyable for everyone involved.
Enjoy your conversation! Not everything needs to be understood perfectly. The important thing is that you are spending time together and talking to each other. Each conversation is a journey and you will get there in the end!!!
#there are other things that can help like subtitles and minimizing background noise#(cafes are so hard for me to hear in with the music and convo but somewhere quiet I get by much better)#but a lot of those are gonna be up to the person with hearing loss to navigate#these are the things that make SUCH a big difference but are hard for them to ask for#please face your friends who cant hear you it is a gamechanger!!!!!#this post brought to you by hanging out with my grandma who was giving me her extra hearing aid batteries cuz she got new ones lmaoooo#i use these strategies to talk with her and my nephew and it helps a lot!!!!!!#and I wish more people would use them with me!!!#(this sounds like my family has some sort of genetic hearing thing. we do not. just bad luck and all different kinds of hearing loss lmaooo)#lori chat

Every now and again I wonder if maybe all trans people face roughly the same amount of bigotry and one just gets more attention, but then i have to read terf posts and.
wow.
obviously every group of trans identities faces their own struggles and unique oppression but there's this incredibly vitriolic kind of hatred reserved for transfems and its sickening.
#ramble#trans#i have a lot of thoughts about terfs i wrote them down somewhere at some point but really theyre just misogyny all the way down#transmascs are poor misled little meow meows who dont realize they just have internalized misogyny. transfems are the embodyment of all evi#nonbinaries are... not talked about. because they ruin the bioessentialism if you think about it critically#to be fair any amount of critical thinking ruins bioessentialism#if gender isnt a social construct why do different societies have different versions of gender. do you never sit down and think for a momen#and like so much of the ideology is wasted hating individuals rather than the actual systems that produce them.#the sex worker thing pisses me off so much. how can you claim to protect women while you shit on the most vulnerable.#āsex work bad because no woman actually wants to do itā like even if that were true (it isnt) the problem wouldnt be sex work#the problem would be capitalism and people having to do things they dont want to make a living.#dismantle capitalism not gender neutral bathrooms#being a man isnt genetic and neither is being evil. the former at least has a genetic predisposition.#whether some people are born evil is like a massive philosophical debate on top of the socio-biological#and like. dont you have anything better to do in your feminism?#like actual problems to fight rather than someone down the street? what progress are you hoping for here?#were losing access to reproductive rights but hoo boy good thing we get to share a scapegoat with our oppressors? really?#theyre not gonna give you equal pay just because you refuse to engage with biology past the 6th grade.#actually im pretty sure we already covered some rudimentary sex/gender stuff in 6th grade but my school mightve been an outlier#definitely compared to the us school system but whatever the point stands#crimes against the gender convention#long ramble in the tags apparently#transgender#queer

hey do you think next time i'm stuck in another pearl-clutching hysteria fest about how cell phones are ruining The Children i should tell them cell phone bans are the technological equivalent of abstinence-only sex education
#i just remembered my work meeting schedule tomorrow š#i think i'm like the third-lowest-ranked employee of the 10-30 who will be in the meeting where this will happen#and it will include my boss and her boss#good idea? probably not. a cathartic conversation grenade? oh yes#i could also talk about how 'screen addiction' is not common and by comparing tech use to substance use we are undermining the seriousness#of substance use disorders and we should stop that#the proposed equivalency also suggests that substance use disorders can just be solved as if they don't have long-term impacts#and 'mental health' always comes up (I put it in quotes because the people who say phones cause mental illness are wrong)#a lot of people are going to be really surprised when you take away phones and legitimate mental illnesses with biological and genetic and#environmental roots don't suddenly magically just become cured#reducing screen time can be good for your mental health! for sure! i'm trying to do it!#but there's a difference between 'touching grass is good for you' and 'your phone is making you mentally ill'#and people really don't like to hear that#not that any of them actually know what mental illness is

REPO! The Genetic Opera but itās a silent film from 1928
Pavi Largo - Conrad Veidt
Blind Mag - Theda Bara

Luigi Largo - Lon Chaney
Amber Sweet - Olga Baclanova
Shilo Wallace - Marceline Day
#alternate cast list: connie plays everyone#he could do it#havenāt thought of ppl for nathan or rotti yet#i thought wayyyyy too hard about some of these#theda bara went back n fourth between mag and amber sweet for a while#and then i remembered olga baclanova exists#i thought mary philbin as blind mag would also be a fun idea just bc her and sarah brightman both played christine daae at one point#but she could also be a good shilo#also#none of these were biased idk what youāre talking about#suddenly it is 2020 and REPO! is always on my mind again#repo! the genetic opera

not to keep waffling on about this but a thing I have noticed in many areas of my life, from protests to marital arts to mosh pits, is that
while I'm not particularly good at proprioception, have no depth perception and frankly mediocre core strength for someone who's been weight training for 2 years, and at times in my life I have just Fallen Over Regularly For No Reason because my legs stopped being legs for a second
I am, for whatever reason, basically impossible to push over or move through force
like I don't know if I just have an unusually low centre of gravity or just fuckin stubborn or what but I am just preternaturally good at being Hard To Move
some of it is a learnable skill but I think I just have short little tree trunk legs and solid body mass and when I plant my feet and drop my weight down even a bit I become like unto a boulder. it's a fun quirk of my character build.
#red said#can't believe i ever thought my avatarsona could be anything but an earthbender#to be clear if i start moving I'm moderately fucked#like not unusually so but I'm a normal or slightly more than normal amount of easy to push over if i lift my feet#so i reel around mosh pits constantly on the verge of total collapse#but if I'm on the edge of a mosh pit a stack of people twice my size can collapse into me and i won't even need to rebalance#my superpower is My Feet Are Floor Magnets#idk if it's genetic but if it is it comes through my dad#cause like a year ago my mum was talking about tai chi and how her teacher had them all push each other without resisting#and see how a light push could unbalance them#and to demonstrate she said 'don't try to stay standing straight' and pushed me and i watched her increase force#and get more and more confused and i literally Was Not Consciously Resisting my body just Doesn't Do Being Pushed#and she was like 'what the fuck. my partner pushed me way lighter than that and i stepped over sideways'#but i do think it's to some degree familial cause my brother is also something of an immovable object#and we have not dissimilar builds in terms of shortish muscular legs and hips#so yeah i think that's just physical advantage

The idea of Armand having eds is soooo fun actually (2 me) ā¦. Although ofc one of my first thoughts is āhow could that have contributed to his imminently life-threatening illness as Amadeoā bc of course. In particular I think the possible vascular complications might be especially fittingā¦ not just bc of yknow. Vampire. But bc during the 16th century there were so many infectious diseases that could affect the heart and blood vessels. Tuberculosis, Syphilis, Rheumatic Feverā¦ Any one of these can damage the heart and blood vessels on their own, but add to that having already weak vessels and tissues and greater potential autoimmune activation, and dire complications become that much more likely
#actually hey wait a minute#wait.#hold on.#is this why my mom had a spontaneous carotid dissection in 2013.#Iād been assuming it was my dad Iād have inherited from bc he has all the heds traits#but hold on. wait. what the fuck#she is somewhat hypermobile and she definitely has autonomic dysfunction#fuck did I get double. did I get the fucking double combo.#do I need to talk to the university of washington genetics lab. do they need to study me#ok. need to spiral about this elsewhere#armand#iwtv tv#iwtv
