When I'm bored, I sometimes rewatch random digimon series/eps, and I have been rewatching hunters, because it's short, since is basically a mini sub season that is separated enough that I don't have to rewatch the entirety of the season, and well. I felt like having some fun drawing some character, and I really like the design I made for Gumdramon if he could have a human disguise/form, and then, I was like: "Wait, I can recolor him to look like a what if: Gumdramon was Tagiru's little and human brother since they REALLY are alike"

Digimon Hunters was such a brilliant love-letter to the series so far, and it's a massive shame it was never dubbed into English. I know a lot of people didn't like it, but it was so exciting seeing all the previous Goggleheads (and Masaru) on that boat.

I'm rewatching Hunters, and it made me think about how Tagiru and Yuu are such a missed opportunity for a good MC and Lancer pair.

They touch on Tagiru viewing the hunt as a game and Yuu having trauma with that kind of thing, but it's really just a throw away line and if Hunters wasn't just a cute slice of life it could have gone somewhere.

And like it has that extra layer that Tagiru is kind of a remake of Daisuke and Yuu is kind of a remake of Takeru (being an aged up veteran Chosen Child/lancer at the start of the series) and Ken (Treating Digimon as a game/lancer for the rest of the series).

Hunters is just another case of Digimon just barely missing the mark on something. It was so close
