the level at which people are misusing the term "Never Again" in the far left absolutely infuriates me.

"Never Again" doesn't refer to the idea of no more genocides -- unfortunately people are evil and corrupt and seek scapegoats and destruction, there were genocides in the years following the Holocaust, there were genocides 10 years ago, there are multiple genocides going on as we speak

"Never Again" means we as Jews will pay attention to the warning signs, will not mindlessly allow antisemitism to fester and take over our communities, we will fight back. it means we will be proud. it means we will not let you hate us without a word of refusal.

"Never Again" is a warning for us, it is a reminder that what happened then can happen now -- is happening now. The Far Left doesn't get to use it against us. You don't get to turn our tragedies into hate-speech and antisemitic rhetoric.

Every so often I come across people going on about 'queer is a bad word, I'm not a terf but we shouldn't use that word in community/academic/etc settings, don't call me queer' and just

Okay

You're not queer

I won't call you that, no one should call you that, and anyone that does is being an asshole regardless of their identity or minority status. It doesn't matter what reasoning you have behind not wanting to be labelled as queer, what trauma you may or may not have, what you've identified as in the past and present, and whether or not your preference just comes to not liking the vibe of the word for entirely inscrutible reasons. No one has any right to pry.

If you say you're not queer, then you're not queer, and that's okay.

It just also means that if I, a queer person, talk about the queer community, then I'm not referring to you. If an academic refers to queer history and queer texts written by queer people about other queer people, they're also not talking about you. If a corporation starts using 'queer' in their ads then they can eat shit because fuck 'em, they have no fucking right to use our words when they aren't and have never been one of us, but if a well-meaning ally uses 'queer' as a one-syllable shorthand for LGBTQIA+ in a verbal conversation, then there's no reason for you to get any more annoyed at them as you would if they used the word 'gay' instead.

You have every single right to be labelled or not labelled as you like, and I will stand behind you all the way. If someone is trying to shove 'queer' on you when you really don't want it? Then I will happily, metaphorically, deck them in the face for you. We are still family, whatever you choose to call yourself, and it's important that we stick together.

If you aren't queer, and you get frustrated when you see queer people talking about the queer community, take a deep breath, and consider:

the FEELINGS. ALL THE FEELINGS. link's expression and his eyes speak louder than he'd ever have to. zelda has just lost everything. her family, her friends, the people she looked up to, her kingdom... link is the only person ALIVE who she has any connection with, as far as she knows. and link, he is there to comfort her. he stares at her like. like that. and. and. he lets her be vulnerable. he lets her be vulnerable and confide in him when the entire world has criticized her for any vulnerability she shows.

and the lighting. dhdbdhfbbs. it reminds me of the sound of music

the quietness, the emotion, the letting down your guard... the fact they used this same kind of lighting in that scene with link and zelda is SO. they've both lost, they've failed in their duties, and nintendo focused on them connecting in this moment of sorrow. there's so many ways they could've done it but they chose THIS and it just AUGHFHFB

and then after, and link's sacrifice. it just adds so. much. he protected zelda until the VERY end, laying down his life for her, and for more reasons than just it being his job. one of zelda's last interactions with him was this. even though she failed, even though hyrule fell, he still protected her. he still died for her. even though that to her, she's done nothing, he felt she was worth dying for. she was important to him, no matter what.

tl;dr they're in love and i personally think botw's story and the way it is told is fucking beautiful. especially link's character with him nonverbal the entire time :)

Maybe you've answered this before, and I didn't see it, but are you planning on adding Dark Cacao and Mystic Flour to the Intertwined Opposites AU?

Pretty interesting thought!!

Most of intertwined opposites is centered around Pure Vanilla and Shadow Milk, but the other beasts will be mentioned and have part in the story to an extent.

Mystic Flour's arrival happens when the main team is still in the faerie kingdom (to my understanding) so Shadow Milk isn't doing anything yet, it all happens in the "prologue" of it all.

But, the awakened forms of the ancients will be helpful when he's eventually confronted by them, and if he doesn't release after another 3 years like Lily I may reference a few things that happen in (possibly) his own episode during the last segment of the storyline.

Tldr: The other beasts are gonna play their part in the order they release, awakened forms are gonna do so too but aren't the main focus for the most part. Current beast yeast episodes are influential and happen in the same way as kingdom canon (unless I gotta do some tweaking for continuity's sake/ involving the main knowledge duo)

really weird thing ive noticed lately re: hermits getting critiqued for stuff theyve said or done is that as soon as someone holds a shit opinion (even if it's just them being stupid, or a centrist, or saying a bad word without knowing what it means, or whatever) people immediately seem to flock to the 'this guy should die' 'kys' 'why are we giving this person a platform' rhetoric and like. that's not how meaningful change is made?

like, yeah, if one of my beloved CCs posted a tweet or video tomorrow about how much they hate gay people, or believe in conservative ideals, or they just said a bunch of slurs or whatever (these are hyperbolic examples obviously) then yeah, fuck them, they should go rot. but like, having some dumb takes, or saying bad things in the past, doesn't = evil terrible person...

idk, i feel like we can critique content creators without getting so insane about it. like, shit, there are things some of my favourites do that i don't like, but theyre not even really worth bringing up tbh. unless its something actually important, i feel like it just creates more drama out of nothing and all these assholes come crawling out of the woodwork to tell everyone how much they hate that creator. or find their content boring anyway so clearly they have no real merit to anyone.

She gives him fanart of himself. He tells her to burn it. She bought it with her own money days ago and has been holding on to it. He says that having the dragon banner on full display is inviting people to kill him. She has shored up the stick it’s held on. She says people are going to be killing him anyway. He accuses her of sending a babysitter to manipulate him. She tells him that though he may be surprised to hear it not everything in her life revolves around him. She is a revered and respected figure to everyone else. He is seething every time she shows up. Min is sitting awkwardly next to them during their entire conversation.

Not just write "noncon" in the post but go into the notes and actually tag it as "tw rape" because they get mad asf when you call them out on it. Summary: It's been a year since Monika deleted herself, and Sayori's had to deal with a year of the whole world feeling out of place. Even with all the cool new things in the game that turn make it more of a life simulation game than a dating sim, she feels detached. So she opts to get the player to bring Monika back, because nothing else she's tried can fill the holes or clear the fog in her brain.

Monika returns to the game and everything comes crashing down. In good ways and in bad ways. She's not ready for all the pressure that comes with existing, and she's not ready to be cared about. It's hard for her to grasp just how much she means to the game.

Some things don't go perfectly to plan, but for once in their lives they feel like the world is on their side. They try their hardest to give themselves some semblance of meaning in a meaningless existence. Like real people do.

sayori gets the player to drag monika out of the recycling bin by the ankles, and they both fucking crumble under the weight of being a person. but then good things happen for once and they realize they can just be dumb gay teens together

i'm very glad i finally had the time to post this lmao. been very very busy lately. yknow moving across the country all that jazz. but we finally got to where we're going so i should have lore time to write! yippee!

this fic is HEAVILY inspired by, and will probably reference a lot of, songs from THIS playlist. i made it myself (shoutout to grape soda for making a playlist for her fic (cherry wine save me) because like at least five of those songs are in my playlist, probably more😭)

anyway, ive got at least like four chapters planned from here so expect updates slowly but surely. my writing process consists of 30% overthinking, 50% just winging it, 10% rephrasing an hour's worth of paragraphs, and 10% fixing typos and formatting fuck-ups... and add all that to a pile of getting lost in my pacific ocean of a brain full of ideas, and you've got at least two weeks worth of writing per chapter
