I have no idea where Amethio has been for the past year for Spinel to take over, but you know he’s gonna show up with Mega Gallade when he comes back.

It fits his “knight” aesthetic to a tee

The Amethio smile count, Rayquaza Rising addition!

Our favourite sopping wet cat finally learned how to smile this arc, so I wanted to tally up all his happy little moments in celebration of our boy finally getting a shred of happiness! Especially with next arc looking to have more of a sorrowful tone, I think it would be nice to look back on the happier times he’s had before we’re thrust back into the angst again. Note that I won’t be counting the toddler Amethio smiles because while they were shown in this arc, the pictures are from years ago and don’t really reflect how amethio is currently.

I counted six different occasions of Amethio smiling this arc, meaning he smiled on an average of every 3.7 episodes!

The episode breakdown of his smiles goes:

Episode 68 x1

Episode 83 x3

Episode 88 x2

In terms of which characters caused him to smile, the tally looks like this:

Zir and Conia: x3 (episode 68 once, 83 twice)

Ceruledge: x1 (episode 88)

I’m not quite sure who to attribute his little smile when Hamber calls his and Liko’s connection ‘destiny’, I guess it could technically be Liko because he’d be thinking about her but I think it’s more directed at the idea of destiny in itself. So i think i’ll just consider it as ‘other’.

Favourite Amethio smile moment would have to go to his smile at Zir and Conia in ep 68. It’s his first one, and a moment all Amethio fans had been waiting for since episode one. I love Ametrio so much and their support for eachother never fails to move me. The way his gaze softens before he smiles is just the cherry on top. Those are his friends, and it was in that moment you can really see he finally understands that :)

All Amethio smiles are precious, but my least favourite smile would have to go to his smile at Zir and Conia in episode 83 (the first image on the right side) It’s still a really sweet moment, I just think the way he’s drawn here looks a little more awkward and isn’t as nice to look at as his other smiles.

I’m not sure if Amethio’s been doing so well over the year time skip considering Spinel’s take over of both Exceed and Explorers, but even so I hope to see even more smiles out of him in Mega Voltage. He’s found the people who truly support him, and I look forward to seeing more of his emotional developments! Let him have fun this arc anipoke I beg…
