everyone shut the FUCK up im thinking about how ford's utter obsession with bill was completely mutual and how "they made each other feel important" ties into the praise and validation that went both ways which ties into the line between the two beginning to blur which ties into the intimacy of sharing a mind and body which ties into "who will give you this feeling again?" and THAT ties into the FIRST THING because the bond between these two characters is as infinite as it is simple and as grotesque as it is erotic and as romantic as it is agonising OK.

I don’t think it’s a coincidence that Ellen’s sex scene with Thomas is weird, unsexy, frantic, fully clothed and disturbing, while Ellen’s sex scene with Orlok, literal corpse, is slow, detailed, sensual, and they are both naked. The juxtaposition.
exaaactlyyyy!! it's about the INTIMACY
regardless of how desperate both Ellen and Thomas may be to conform to their socially acceptable marriage (they're both distinctly queercoded, Ellen wants passion, Thomas cannot give it, both of them see each other as a duty), they still do not and cannot understand each other. Ellen, who comes from a wealthy but abusive home, cannot imagine prioritizing material success over love and connection; Thomas, who self-deprecatingly refers to himself as a "pauper," cannot imagine ostracizing himself so completely from the society that very easily jeopardizes the livelihood of anyone non-conforming. There is a distinct lack of intimacy between them, only partially breached by anger and confrontation; which is, indeed, illustrated by their fully clothed, aggressive scene. It is more of an argument than sex.
Ellen's death-wedding with Orlok is entirely different - as you said, slow, sensual, reverent; it centers their closeness above all. They cling to one another, both overcome with emotion (self-professed inability to love be damned), perfect living skin against rotting flesh; the visual implication here is that there is, quite literally, nothing between them. They know each other entirely, the flaws, the beauty, and that understanding is more important than their own life or death.
One is a sex scene that is actually a fight, the other is a lovemaking disguised as murder, and I am obsessed

So do you guys actually think that Jason's entire story, relationship to the others, and philosophy amounts to him being a rebellious teen who wants his dad's attention? Like are you 100% serious? I thought you were joking about that but too many of you are saying it with your whole chest.
And what the fuck is this "Bruce antagonizing Jason is fanon!" Shit I've been seeing? You guys are aware that a parent can love their kid and still be a shit parent right? I know you guys don't want to fathom the thought that maybe your blorbo might also occasionally have to face responsibility for consistently endangering children but let's not start being delusional now.
Bruce does love his kids, that doesn't mean that he hasn't hurt them. And I'd also argue that for the most part he feels in the right for it, and he's said multiple times that he believes it's for their own good, so you can't even argue that he's sorry about it. It's okay for you guys to admit that your PERSONAL INTERPRETATION of the character wouldn't do that but don't sit here and pretend that it's not a facet of the source.
#you can argue meta until you're blue in the face#but I can't ignore the ingerent abuse of Batman and Robin because DC is always drawing attention to it#Stephanie and Jason directly died because of Robin#Stephanie wanted to impress Bruce to live up to his idea of a sidekick and prove her worth#Sheila only sold Jason out when she found out he was Robin#Damians life certainly got worse when he became Robin/moved with Bruce#if you bring up racist retcons I'll kill you btw#how are we supposed to read children dying and being tortured and traumatized constantly#and just ignore that these are children#I can ignore the reality of child sidekicks in campy light hearted early comics#but if DC wants to deal with serious topic they're going to have to deal with some serious implications too#Also that post that's going around about “Bruce loves Jason and it's Jason who's causing all the animosity” is such bullshit#what the fuck are you even talking about#and let's not act like Jason is the ONLY one at fault and Bruce is just a poor loving father#is Bruce spreading that utter bullshit about Jason's death and who he was not an act of violence?#was he not the one to cast the first stone by disgracing Jason's legacy and using a version of him that never existed as a cautionary tale#and I know some of you are going to argue that with most of the kids there's nothing Bruce could have done to stop them#and this is the one time in which I will ignore all the very real ways that he could have#but I still think that in universe the characters have a right to be angry about it#Jason always since his debut as red hood been a vehicle for calling out Bruce#he's so heavily steeped in meta narrative because his run is when they started dealing with the real BAD cases#The Cult Garzonas onscreen murders were getting more common#AND NO ONE CAN CONVINCE ME THAT BEING ROBIN DIDN'T MAKE JASON'S LIFE WORSE#THERE WAS NO REASON TO MAKE HIM ROBIN HE COULD HAVE BEEN VERY HAPPY AS JUST A NORMAL KID#But Bruce made having a place in his home synonymous with being Robin because the narrative dictated it had to be#what was homeless orphan Jason going to do? say no?#it was basically coercion and it doomed him and he has every right to blame the adult that put him in that position#dc#bruce wayne critical#bat family

i feel that kaido treats saiki with his first name in his mind
like he calls him kusuo in his head but he calls him saiki irl because he's too shy to ask for start using their first name
come on we already saw how saiki in kaido's imagination always calls him shun
he wants to start treating each other by their first name but he just doesn't know how to ask
and then there is nendo riki who refers to his best buddy by his first name but no one know (not even saiki himself) because he always refers to him as buddy or pal
the only one who knows is nendo's mom cuz riki always calls him ku when he tells how his day was to her

a different statement but: don't live out of spite. spite isn't what we're here for.
if you're trans or queer, live for that 12 year old version of yourself who didn't understand why they were different. live for you the version of yourself that figured it all out from some quiz online, who got their first haircut or their first gender affirming outfit, and meet the version of yourself that introduces yourself without clarification. if you're a woman, live for your eight year old self that was told that boys pulling your hair and bullying you in school meant that they liked you. for the 13 year old version of yourself who learnt what it meant to be a woman, and for the future you that still has so much compassion and love to experience. who still has so many core experiences to make. if you're a poc, live for the child that had to correct your name when they called out in class when a substitute teacher was in. live for the teen who ticked boxes for college enrollment and existed by a quota, live for the future you and the day you see yourself everywhere in the media, in the world, in the stories you read.
this isn't out of spite. live for every version of yourself that was huddled on a bathroom floor wondering if they'd ever fit in, and live for the day you find that space. because it's there. we'll forge it if we have to. but you'll find it, that love. that acceptance. you found it before, you'll find it again.
it's not spiteful to live.
there's so much love yet to be found.

I wonder how much of our parents we know through knowing ourselves. I wonder how much of ourselves we think are our own and were first born in our parents. I wonder, even in death, what I still learn about my father.

Agony ghost Bloodmoon. They torment the hell out of the bastard, and hang around Solar sometimes. But mostly stick around Ruin, staring at him, messing with his things, throwing stuff at him, and generally making his life miserable (as it should be)
Tw for the images below: implied suicide attempt, referenced character death, and implied torture//sa

I'm writing one character who is highly educated and very well read, so has a large vocabulary. I'm writing another character who, while isn't stupid, is less so. I feel like I'm somewhere in the middle and struggle to write both of them.

"may mizi and hyuna live please thanks" i revise my statement to avoid delusion. @tubercloset pointed out to me that by this point a lot of the main cast has sacrificed their life/risked their life to save mizi. i need to figure out a way to articulate the details of this but i think mizi represents hope to sua, and hyuna, and till.
and hope is something so scarce in anakt garden, something so radiant but so unreachable that it is your god, your universe. and if you spent your entire life in the darkness, would you not give it - would you not go all-in - to know what it means to be in the light?
and so,
imagine hyuna - luka face-off next round as hyuna puts herself on the line so that mizi may survive, just as till put his life on the line to bring back mizi's radiance, just as sua gave her life to save mizi. because i'm sure that to them - somehow, someway - she is their hope.
their god. their universe.

I think I’ve finally put my finger on the reason why I (and people in general) love to watch “kids’ shows” when they are older teens and adults: because empathy and love, especially platonic love, are arguably humans’ most valuable trait and yet, in our society and in “realistic” media is treated as a weakness or at least at odds with being successful. Like, empathy isn’t even unique to humans, it’s found in and is integral to so many species of animals (and maybe even plants too!!), especially what we consider to be some of the most fearsome predators like lions and wolves. But humans have have “gone all in on” empathy and the capacity to form bonds with other humans, even outside familial circles, which is the reason we outlived the homo erectus which lived at the same time as humans since we were able to form larger communities. And all that’s to say that seeing shows where moral goodness is synonymous with empathy and friendship and wins the day is probably very satisfying for our brains since we don’t often see empathy treated as the essential part of us that it is.
That’s why shows like Hilda or Kipo and the Age of the Wonderbeasts are my personal favorites because the main characters’ defining trait is being empathetic and is, at least in the beginning, their only way of avoiding trouble. And these shows in particular feature the main characters advancing the plot and achieving heroic feats through simply talking it out and generally being a kind and helpful person. When I first watched these shows I, admittedly, saw such events as cheesy, but when I took time to think about it, it not only makes sense why it worked, but was quite literally the best possible way to fix the problem at hand because empathy is a very natural thing for humans and is literally how we have become the apex species so of course it can work when someone gives it a chance.
It’s human nature to be kind and empathetic and is why it’s so satisfying to see it spotlit in kids shows.
