Someone made a post about Carmy asking Syd about her dad, and it had me thinking the reason why he kept asking. It doesn't seem like Carmen has a relationship with his dad. When he was talking with Cicero about him, it sounded like the old man left them when Carmy was a baby or too young to remember him. Causing him (and i would assume Nat), to look up to their big brother Mikey as a fatherly figure.

Carmy probably asks Sydney about her dad, unconsciously hoping to find a father figure through hers since his only father figure, who was his brother, is no longer living. He already finds comfort in Sydney and hopes to find comfort in her family as well.

I think that Carmy co-signed Syd's lease for her apartment, because of her bad credit. We know it's not her dad, because she'd already signed the lease at that point.

We know she has deferred pay, just like Carmy and Nat. Nat also has a new baby on the way and a mortgage.

More convinced than ever that Carmy and Syd live in the same building. He's in good standing with the landlord so he could vouch for her there as well.

Also, Carmy shows Syd he loves her by doing big gestures like this. The Michelin star. The Thom Browne chef's jacket.

The parallel in S3 is Mikey giving Tina a job in Napkins.

And her dad knows what's up. That's why he brings up the thin walls and the partnership agreement. He knows someone hooked her up and has a suspect!

carmy offering an apology to syd here is technically unneeded, but very sweet, and he asks if she's okay just like sugar wanted him to ask her! they're very not subtle with that -- he learns a lesson, he applies it to his relationship with sydney, rinse, repeat. who carmy's deepest relationship with at this point is probably a mix of richie and sugar, but the relationship he puts the most effort into by far is his relationship with sydney. inchresting.

aaaaaand richie called the cops. really, really hoping there aren't consequences for that and it's just illustrating how disconnected he is, because The Beef cannot handle more repair bills, truly

Ok so ik that fanfiction often requires characters to act ooc but I've seen multiple (tbf like 3) accidental pregnancy fics in the bear tag....and I just want to have my own 'he wouldn't fucking say that moment' and say that there is not a single universe in which Sydney Adamu would ever carry an unwanted pregnancy to term. You know how Claire asks Carmy question and looks at him really intense, like she knows the answer but HIM answering the question is going to help HIM somehow?

I feel that same way when Carmy asks about Sydney's dad.

Like he KNOWS there's something there that Sydney has to confront

Sydney seems like the more stable one of the two because she's not screaming and cussing but for sure she has stuff she needs to deal with too. It's not just that she doesn't want Carmy involved in her life. It's something else

That being said RICHIE seems to be the only ONE who has officially met Sydney's dad.

maxverstappen1: i've seen a lot of journalists and 'professionals' trying to point score with the 'big revelation' of my daughter. sydney is the love of my life and for someone who grew up in the public eye i thought it would be best to keep my daughter away from the circus. not that i owe it to any of you people, but i see syd as much as i possibly can and i didn't want to post her or bring her to the paddock until she could make that choice for herself. y/n is a wonderful mother and is the exact support system i would want for my daughter.

The Underworld of Fine Dining

There is a headline regarding the closure of Ever that asks: Is fine dining dead?

I don’t think the show will say anything definitive about this (it will use shots of working class people and character and story to let us know how it feels). But I do think that it’s over for The Bear being a fine dining restaurant in the style of Ever or Empire.

Chef Adam, though, will try to recreate that atmosphere without the influence of Chef Terry and likely with Demon Chef David as a backer. He is trying to pull Syd into the underworld that Chef Terry and Carmy have now left. Carmy, after his confrontation with Chef David, has had an epiphany. Meanwhile Syd is having a panic attack about leaving her found family behind.

This mirrors Carmy’s struggle with Claire, which was about him wanting to turn back to his past and check out of the present. For Syd, it’s about financial stability and losing Sheridan Road and never wanting to be in that spot again. Which, the show better come with all that backstory in S4!

I think Syd will stay at The Bear once she realizes Chef Adam is applying pressure and moving too fast for all the wrong reasons and to solely benefit himself and his investors. Even if she runs, and she has before, Carmy will take her back every time because he’s now realized he’s, like, wildly in love with her and has been for some time.

He has already said he needs to clear the air (get rid of haunts), and that will mean dealing with his stuff with Richie about Mikey, apologizing to Claire for using her to sublimate his desire for Syd, and dealing with his mother in S4. Syd also has haunts to do with Sheridan Road and the loss of her mother that the show is overdue to discuss.

also not to keep talking abt across the spiderverse but this movie understands the core conflict of spiderman SO well, that being that u cannot be there for everyone at every moment and that u will have to make incredibly difficult decisions everyday that impact the people around u. spiderman is all about difficult choices. the mcu spiderman movies did not understand that and gave peter copious amounts of support and resources and shortcuts that either negated those choices or made them easier to make. but spiderverse does: even though miles has two supportive parents who love him, he has to face the agony of constantly letting them down. he has to constantly choose between saving people and being there for his family. he can't live up to his potential at school or make friends because he's saddled with responsibility. its such a refreshing return to form that we haven't seen since spiderman 2, where we get to witness peter constantly having to choose and constantly letting the people he loves down. its not just about making that pivotal decision that gets uncle ben or whoever killed: its the relentless decision-making that follows

“Fuck you, Carmy! Fuck you, Carmy! Fuck- where are you?” you wailed as a wave of contraction pain crashed over you. You knew where he was, that fucking restaurant. Since moving back to Chicago, you’ve learned a lot about your husband.

You knew he was an anxious ball of stressed-out nervous energy, but something changed. You suspected that the friends and family freezer incident was his breaking point. Watching him slowly lose his mind over daily menus and constant fighting with the people he loved hurt. You were convinced he wasn’t sleeping or eating, but the part that hurt the most was how he’d withdrawn from your pregnancy. Before The Beef made the change to The Bear, he would rub cocoa butter on your stomach and tell the baby about his day and how excited he’d been to meet them, but now you were lucky to have a conversation deeper than a greeting or a passive ‘love you’ before going to bed. You were unsure if he even wanted to be a dad anymore.

“How you doin’ Y/N? Need anything?” a nurse asked as she opened your chart to document your vitals. You shook your head. “I think I'm just ready to get this little girl out.” you quipped as you watched her write something down on your chart. 

After the nurse had scurried out of your room, you reached for your phone on the table beside your bed. As you unlock your phone, another wave of contractions came over you. You winced as you hit Carmy’s contact, and it went straight to voicemail. “Carmen- the baby is coming. This is like my 50th call-” you groaned as the contraction intensified, “Get your ass over here! This really hurts, and I-I can’t do it alone.” a whimper escaped your lips when the realization of what doing this alone would entail. 

Carmy was in the zone that night. Everything was going off with a hitch, and he couldn’t believe it. His head was swimming with ideas on how to recreate this energy. He was on cloud nine and couldn’t wait to get home to you. At the end of the dinner service, Carmy debriefed with Syd before heading to his locker. He turned his phone back on and saw a slue of text messages and voicemails from you, “Oh shit…” were the only words he could manage to get out before panic took over.
