the thing about being a multishipper that nobody tells you is that half the time your ships all just merge together into one big polycule. For example: I love sweet chasity (karen/charlotte), charted (charlotte/ted), holy bastard (ted/mark), and the very canon marriage of mark and karen (do they have a ship name?)

𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗬  𝗪𝗢𝗨𝗟𝗗𝗡'𝗧  𝗛𝗔𝗩𝗘  𝗖𝗛𝗢𝗦𝗘𝗡  𝗘𝗔𝗖𝗛  𝗢𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗥,  grace  and  pete, the  prude  and  the  nerd.  if  it  was  up  to  either  of  them,  they'd have  stayed  on  their  separate  paths,  the  boisterous  girl  on  her mission  and  the  meek  boy,  staying  out  of  her  way.  it's  not  like her  to  boil  over,  spilling  all  sorts  of  emotions,  in  the  halls  of hatchetfield  high.  but  here  she  is,  knees  pulled  up  as  she's huddled  against  lockers,  head  tucked  down.  she's  a  mess  of tears  and  sniffles,  mortification  and  anger,  all  mixed  together.. even  with  shut  eyes,  and  far  from  the  laughter,  she  can  still feel  them  with  her.  even  there,  with  her  eyes  squeezed  shut, she  can  see  their  cruel,  gleeful  faces.  people  never  get  under skin  (  at  least  almost  never,  she  prides  herself  in  that  fact  )

it's  not  like  she  hadn't  heard  it  all:  𝘕𝘌𝘙𝘋𝘠  𝘗𝘙𝘜𝘋𝘌,  𝘊𝘏𝘈𝘚𝘛𝘐𝘛𝘠 𝘉𝘌𝘓𝘛,  𝘛𝘞𝘖  𝘉𝘈𝘎𝘎𝘌𝘙  (  the  kindest  names  of  the  bunch  if  she's being  honest  )  that  doesn't  make  her  impervious  to  the loneliness  of  growing  up  a  chasity.  a  thick  skin  can  only  do  so much,  a  harsh  lesson  she's  finally  starting  to  learn.  if  only  it weren't  so  painful.  a  gasp  of  a  breath  and  she'll  rest  her  head back,  hands  wiping  away  at  stubborn  tears.  a  slight  squeak  of shoes  reminds  her  that  she's  got  company--  𝘾𝙍𝙐𝘿,  that's  right. she  doesn't  know  when  he  showed  up.  just  that  he  did.  and that  he  still  hasn't  left.

and  despite  their  spats  and  squabbles,  his  eye  rolls  and  her scolds,  she  feels  a  sort  of  comfort  when  a  sideways  glance shows  her  he's  still  there.  he  hasn't  said  anything,  and  honestly, there's  hope  it  stays  that  way.  solidarity  in  nerdom  is  a  heck  of a  thing  and  maybe  (  a  small  maybe,  but  one  nonetheless  ) she'll  learn  to  embrace  it,  𝗘𝗠𝗕𝗥𝗔𝗖𝗘  𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗠  even  if  they're doomed  to  a  fate  down  below.  the  squeezing  feeling  in  her chest  fades  and  fades  the  longer  they  live  in  their  silence.  and maybe  that  was  the  whole  point.  friendship  is  foreign  to  grace chasity.  a  friendship  with  pete  spankoffski  is  an  even  𝙁𝙐𝙍𝙏𝙃𝙀𝙍 𝙍𝙀𝘼𝘾𝙃.  but  there  they  are,  not  quite  as  mismatched  as  she first  thought.  and  here  she  is,  maybe  a  little  grateful.

so i convinced my brother to watch npmd

for context, he's the one who got me into starkid in the first place, but was never a big fan of it as a whole (we watched avpm a couple years back, and he watched twisted and tgwdlm himself)

so he's like. a casual fan. he's not in the hatchetfield hyperfixation hell i'm in, having only seen tgwdlm a few years back and not watching nmt or bf

suffice to say, he liked it!

highlights of the night include:

Him simping over Steph immediately as the show started

Me explaining different running gags that got brought up

Him commenting and cringing on the show's portrayal of teens which.. yeah

Him saying that Dirty Girl was more awkward then sexy (but being freaked out nonetheless)

Him calling out that Grace would be the murderer right away, but thankfully that thought went away as soon as Max died

At the part right before the Max death scene, he commented "oh this is so sweet" and then Max. You know.

During Go Go Nighthawks, I very loudly yelled out "FUCK CLIVESDALE". Later on when Grace tries to frame the Chemists my dear brother also said "Yeah, fuck clivesdale!" confirming he is one of us now

He knows about my obsession with Dan and Donna, and witnessed my very audible reaction when they showed up the first time to report on Max's disappearance

After the scene I say they showed up later on and during the interrogation scene in the principal's office he said "When will Dan and Donna show up again?"

Of course, they did show up again for Hatchet Town, leading to me having the same reaction AGAIN, which lead him to commenting "They're not canon, right?" Which. OW.

When Dan came on and said, "I am Dan Reynolds" I pointed at him and said "There he is! My guy! He is Dan Reynolds!" all while my brother just awkwardly nodded along

After Hatchet Town I continued to freak out over Dan and Donna and continuingly reiterated the point that I ship them and I love them all while my brother was like "Yeah. Yep."

During the Barbecue Monologues, he says "Is this a reference to the Vagina Monologues?"

I commented on how a lot of people said that Just For Once gives them Falsettos vibes, and my brother LOVES Falsettos so he was immediately like "okay yeah yeah i get it go onto the song"

Him saying "Oh this is depressing" towards the end of Just For Once

Him freaking out when Paul and Emma arrived (they're the only characters he recognized)

Him also freaking out over If I Loved You, with him saying it was his favorite song in the show

In the scene in the forest where Max throws Miss Mulberry's decapitated "head" my brother said "That's Chappell Roan" and now I can't unsee it.

Him being terrified during The Summoning (later on he said "those weird god things scared me")

Him pointing at Blinky and saying "That's Chappell Roan"

The look of dread on his face when he realizes Steph would have to kill Pete

Me continuingly hammering in the point that "Steph and Pete will die" and then him being like "Why couldn't Grace give something up, huh??" and then me responding, pretending not to laugh, "What's she gonna give up? Her dad?" and then he responded "Yeah, her gay dad" (for context, earlier on during the chasity's scene i mentioned most people thinking Mark was gay)

Him just being absolutely depressed during CAITA reprise

AND THEN the look on his face when Max came in and caught the bullet with him continuingly asking and reiterating "So they're not gonna die?"

The shock and horror on his face when Grace and Max did it on the football field

Me telling him that Best of You was the ending number

AND THEN his jaw dropping when Grace pulled out the book and started singing dirty dudes must die. later on he said "it gagged him"

23oz Chai - Paul 23 / Ted Spankoffski

- workplace crush but, plot twist, one of them is a clone

- Ted confesses, and Paul 23, even though he's unsure if the real Paul would go along with it, accepts anyway.

- everyone in the office reacts to it in shock, and they are convinced it is an elaborate prank. (Its not)

Cat Sweater - Charlotte / Melissa (Charlissa)

- Melissa supports Charlotte through her rocky marriage. Sapphic feelings ensue!

- They bond over their love of cats!

- Crazy cat lady and her sopping wet cat gf!

Dirty Boy - Mark Chasity / Boy Jerry

- Two repressed religious men grappling with internalized homophobia!

- A lot of gay denial and religious guilt in this one!

- Also, Jerry's nature rubs off on Mark a little. Maybe they go a little off the walls together!

Donnapiro - Donna Daggit/ Detective Shapiro

- They start out disliking each other, Shapiro not liking how Hatchetfield News reports crime and Donna despising Shapiro for getting in the way of their journalism

- Slowly, their competition becomes incredibly homoerotic.

- Enemies to lovers, reporter x detective yuri. Solving crimes and being sapphic!

Fast But Pricey - Barry Swift / Frank Pricely (Priceswift)

- I have little justification for this one but.. ldk, I think they would be fun together.

- Frank is just really lonely, let him have a gay lover.

- Their relationships moves fast. (Barry is in a hurry! And Frank is so alone he doesn't mind.)

Latte Bottay - Zoey Chambers / Emmdroid (Zoemdroid)

- They bond over a dislike of the real Emma!

- Zoey is surprisingly chill with the robot thing.

- This also works pretty well with 23ozChai. Paul 23 gets his work crush, Emmdroid gets her work crush, its a win win! bonus wlw mlm solidarity!

Nibblinda - Nibbly / Linda

- Linda treats Nibbly to fine meats and sweets. In return, Nibbly eats her dad and protects her. Overall, a pretty sweet deal!

- Perhaps, they get a little blood on their hands.

- Linda chews people out (figuratively), and Nibbly bites them (literally)

Plastic Cars - Gerald Monroe / Tom Houston

- Hear me out.. Divorced dads realize they are gay... for each other.

- Tim gets a new dad, instead of a new mom.

- Again, I must stress.. middle aged men in love!

Sheiloway - Sheila Young / Miss Holloway

- This is ooc as fuck but the enemies to lovers calls to me.

- They both get someone to confide to about the struggles of lord shenanigans and near immortality

- wlw witches!

Showstoppers - Henry Hidgens / Pokey

- Theater nerds who will murder at the drop of a hat.

- I mean, Pokey did include Show Stopping Number in Inevitable, so that's a little gay.

- They are both just.. really gay tbh.

Spoiled Cat - Linda Monroe / Charlotte Sweetly (Charlinda)

- I think pairing a mean rich lady with a sweet, but this close to losing it, lady is very fun.

- Tbh, I just think the day Charlotte dates a woman is the day her entire world changes.

- Also, I think Charlotte should be allowed to be a little mean for once. Linda would help her be more assertive.

Tentacle Bastard - Wiggly / Ted Spankoffski

- Wiggly steals his brother's toy, and gets more than he bargained for!

- Wiggly tries to scare Ted with his big scary octopus form. It does not have the intended effect!

- Wiggly keeps trying to terrify Ted, but jokes on him Ted is into that, and that flusters him. However, Ted's unabashed bastard confidence has an unexpected side effect: Wiggly catches feelings

Webworship - Webby / Karen Chasity

- Karen finds a new god(dess) to "worship"!

- Unsatisfied wife summons a goddess for some company, and the goddess doesn't mind!

- A little bit of religious guilt in this one, as Karen goes against her beliefs by beginning to "worship" a new god, but its still mostly wholesome!

This is not to say I don't like it when they get shipped with other characters, I'm just talking canon

Officer Bailey: while not explicit, working boys implied that he was going to working girls on a date with Miss Mulberry, at least to me, that's how it looked
