Magical Education in Harry Potter

I have continued reading snippets of HP and I realized once again how...boring the magic is in HP. Besides Snape, Dumbledore and Voldemort I think, no one in HP really does anything exceptional or innovative with their magic. Well...there are the Marauders with their map and their animagus transformations. Plus the Weasley twins are super creative too with their products. But I think that's it really. I will be mega generous and throw in Draco fixing the cabinet and Hermione's DA coins too.

Not even Harry Potter, who is supposed to be the chosen one and hero of the story, does anything great. He's tragically mediocre and not in a good way. I do not consider summoning a patronus at 13 to be a marvel. Considering he had special lessons from Lupin and his performing the spell is not really a special/new/creative magical endeavour.

The muggle world has great technological innovations. But wizards are not innovating magic on the same level at all. And I think part of the problem is their magical education system.

First, starting to learn magic at 11 is total rubbish. Using Avatar: The Last Airbender as an example. Learning magic at 11 is comparable to someone learning they can bend at 5 but they don't start training until 11. Or someone in our world has prodigious abilities but they don't train until high school. Do you see how dumb this is?

So in the meantime, wizard kids have this power that they can't control properly. It's not that big of a deal if the kid has a magical family but what about mugglebornes like Hermione or kids who grew up in muggle families like Harry?? Harry was literally a hazard to the Dursleys in more ways than one and it's understandable, not excusable, that they hated him.

Plus Hermione's character is annoying due to her role as an exposition device. It's tiresome that a muggleborne girl is constantly showing up purebloods who literally grew up around magic. As the books go on, she takes over Ron's role in the trio as the magical common sense guy. In reality, mugglebornes should be at a major disadvantage. Let's say I am trying to learn Spanish. I have no Spanish-speaking family. And let's say I end up in a class of immigrant kids whose parents all speak Spanish. They may not be fluent themselves but they have a huge headstart on me. In time I will catch up to them, especially if I work hard like Hermione, but initially, I would perform worse than them. As first years, the pureblood and halfblood kids should be blowing Hermione out of the water. If not for the entire first year then at least the first semester/term.

So how would I fix this issue? Four ways:

Magical kindergarten/elementary school

Hogwarts should be a highschool/college level institution. Or maybe Hogwarts could have different school levels. Kids should learn the introductory concepts for Charms, Transfiguration, Potions etc in primary/elementary school or even from their freaking parents. Ron's intro scene with that make my rat yellow prank spell was just sad. And having Hermione call him out for the spell not being real was just more salt in my annoyance. As kids, they learn the basics like wand movement, magic theory and safety. And basic spells.

Advanced learning

When they go to Hogwarts they should focus more on application and higher levels of theory. For example: Magical Ethics (what are the moral boundaries of magic **cough**rapedrugs**cough**polyjuicepotion**cough**), Magical Research (do projects/experiments to learn more about the nature of magic, like how is elf magic different from wizard magic), Spellmaking (why is Snape the only dude in HP inventing spells!), Improvised Spells (like in Wizards of Waverly Place), Magic Economics (how does magic work with the concept of scarcity, what is scarcity in the wizarding world), Magical Defense (not just against the dark arts but basic defence like self-defence in our world and perhaps survival skills) etc. They should learn non-verbal and non-wand magic as well of course. Maybe this could be taught at the end of primary school or the beginning of Hogwarts. Instead of the very end of their Hogwarts education.

Accessible classes for mugglebornes

So what about mugglebornes, you say? Well, there are two options. You can provide after-school classes for muggleborne students to learn magic before they attend Hogwarts. Think of extra lessons or night classes in our world. Or you can send the mugglebornes to summer school(s) before Hogwarts which leads me to my next point.

Different Class Tracks

Put muggleborne kids in a different class track from the purebloods/halfbloods who went to magical primary. Like how we have advanced classes for students who are super bright or slower-paced classes for students who need extra help. Students like Hermione would gradually graduate to the advanced track while lazier students like Harry may stay in the slower track. Or maybe bright students like Hermione could do placement tests to get into the advanced track from the start. Some pureblood students could even be demoted to the slower track if they begin to goof off (maybe Ron) or need extra help (maybe Neville). And you can mix and match! So Neville would be in Class 1 Herbology but Class 2 Potions :). Maybe Harry would be in Class 1 DADA but Class 2 Potions etc.

If lack of teachers is an issue, then pureblood families would teach their own kids and the primary school would be exclusively for muggleborne kids and/or pureblood/halfblood kids whose parents can't provide tutoring.

Conclusion

So yeah, that's how I would revamp the school system. Hogwarts is a weird school. Like students leave as adults but leaving Hogwarts feels like leaving primary school. I never felt prepared for the world after highschool but at least we have college/university. Even if HP has trade schools/apprenticeships for jobs like healing and being an auror, I think their magical education is seriously lacking. And the spellwork in HP is honestly very lame. Wands just end up being like guns. More battles should be like the Voldy vs Dumbles fight in book 5.

Magic should be something kids learn from the cradle. Magic is not a subject like Math is. Magic is literally part of who they are. Learning magic should be treated like learning how to groom yourself, eat healthily or even speak. It's strange how Hogwarts and the ministry restrict students from learning magic outside of classes. Maybe it's a conspiracy??

In the Pokémon XY(Z) anime, I think that Tierno should have been the Pokémon performer out of the Kalos friends. I think he should have been Serena’s rival, instead of or with Shauna.

On one hand, Shauna’s great and fine, ya know? She was alright! But just Fine. I would like her more if she was there more.

On the other hand, Tierno’s personality is dancer. He is literally a DANCERRRRR. His Pokémon are DANCERS. It was his entire thing in the games (the source material) and even in the anime because of his battling style. And I get it, girl power and stuff. I loved the female solidarity in the master class, ya know? Girls supporting girls, even when competing, which is why I sorta would still like Shauna there (or give the other girls attention, god bless /lh). But as far fetched and/or impossible as it is for the anipoke writers (/lh again), I would have adored seeing a boy in that setting. A boy unabashedly passionate about performing in a sphere that’s female dominated and being just as supportive and positive. Being totally unashamed. I think that would be so cool.

It would have made his crush make more sense too, honestly, or just add some more charm to it. It wasn’t hindering the show because it didn’t come up often, just hindered his character because it came up when he was there. But imagine it developed as she grew into being a confident performer. Don’t even make the crush reciprocated, it still could have been cuter this way.

AND WHILE IM AT IT, because I just thought of this while writing, if I were in charge of the writing with my current mindset and understanding: Change up the counterparts for the trios.

Make Tierno and Serena each others’ counterparts, and change the others along with it.

I think it’s safe to say Trevor and Clemont were kinda~ counterparts, just the least developed of them (brainiacs, both seem to have some type of anxiety, not neurotypical IN THE SLIGHTEST, etc.). I think that Trevor and Ash could have been fun. Trevor was the member of the Kalos rival trio to master Mega Evolution, and he also battled in the League. In the games, he has a crisis about his own strength and doubts his abilities as a trainer because he has end goals different from other trainers. I just KNOW Ash would have been the best rival and friend to help him through that. Trevor has an affinity for taking photographs of Pokémon, pointing out the differences and rarities in them, and seeking out the legendaries Ash has met and battled before. And Ash, mister nomad with such love for the world around him, I think, would find a lot of interest in that and support it. Plus, Trevor has Charizard. Ash’s ace used to be Charizard. They could have bonded, they could have been incredible.

And that leaves Clemont and Shauna. And what do ya know?? Clemont and Shauna are EXPLICITLY FRIENDS in the games! It didn’t click with me until I started ranting about Tierno and Serena, but CLEMONT AND SHAUNA ARE CANONICALLY BUDDY BUDDY IN THE SOURCE MATERIAL (I get that Shauna is super friendly with Serena in the games as well, but you know what I mean). The device Shauna uses to break into the final chamber of Team Flare’s secret lab was a gift from Clemont. In the beginning of the game, Shauna knows little to nothing about being a trainer, but when she gets to Lumiose City and sees the gym leader and his little sister outside the gym, she recognizes them by face and exclaims “Those two are my friends! :D” It would have been fun seeing an unlikely friendship develop between the scientist who thinks he’s got his future figured out and the trainer with no set path who’s striving to love life as it is in the present.

Zinnia: Alrighty, kiddos! It's time to learn some history! My name is Zinnia or Lorekeeper Zinnia or Professor Zinnia. Whatever you wanna use.

She uses the smart pen to write her name on the board.

Zinnia: I'll be your guest instructor today and I'm here to learn you some Hoenn History! This is just one of several lectures you'll be able to attend to get out of whatever boring class you're supposed to be in. We'll be covering, myths, legends, the ancient past, and even some recent history. You know, to piss Raifort off a bit.

Zinnia clicks a clicker and the smartboard changes from a digital whiteboard to an image of the mural at Sky Tower. Or rather, a recreation of it. The actual mural is too big to make getting a photograph possible.

Zinnia: We'll start simple. If you were born in Hoenn or spent any amount of time researching Hoenn mythology, which you probably haven't given how terrible your world history course is. So much time spent on Hisui. It's a fascinating topic but other regions exist too.

Zinnia clears her throat.

Zinnia: So, who can tell me the names of the Legendary Trio known as the Super-Ancient Pokemon.

Several hands go up. Zinnia makes a big show of deciding who to call on before eventually settling on a student in the back.

Zinnia: You! You look real smart!

The student looks a bit unsure.

Student: Uh... Groudon... Kyarger... and Racaza?

Zinnia: You know what, I'll give it to ya. The names of the Super-Ancient Pokemon are Groudon, Kyogre, and Rayquaza.

Zinnia points to each Pokemon on the mural as she says this.

Zinnia: A long, long, long, long time ago, Groudon created the land and Kyogre created the sea. However, the two Pokemon were at odds with each other. Groudon's sole purpose was to create more land and Kyogre's sole purpose was to create more sea. And neither of them could fulfill that purpose so long as the other existed. Overflowing with Primal Energy, the two clashed, bringing chaos and catastrophe down upon the world. The seas turned, fire rained from the sky. The people and Pokemon could do naught but flee.

Zinnia: It seemed like there was no end in sight for this titanic clash. But then, Rayquaza, Lord of the Skies, Guardian of the Earth, descended from the heavens. Lord Rayquaza's power was enough to overwhelm the two titanic Pokemon, ending the era of chaos and bringing peace to the land. But the story's not over yet. Oh no, we haven't even reached the best part.

Zinnia grins, flashing her fangs.

Zinnia: Thousands of years later, another great Meteor fell. This Meteor bored into the earth creating a massive crater that would later come to house the City of Sootopolis. The crater created by the Meteor overflowed with Primal Energy, enough to reawaken Primal Groudon and Primal Kyogre.

Zinnia clasps her hands together.

Zinnia: Once again Rayquaza descended from the heavens but the Primal Pokemon, overflowing with the energy from the crater, proved to be too strong. It seemed all hope was lost and all the people had left was one last desperate wish. The Meteor within the crater responded to the people's wishes and shined with a brilliant rainbow light, transforming Rayquaza into a new radiant form. With this new form it sapped the power from Groudon and Kyogre, resealing them yet again.

Zinnia changes the slide to a stylized graphic of various Mega Stones in an aesthetically pleasing pattern. At the center is a Keystone.

Zinnia: It believed by my people, the Draconids, that this was the first ever instance of Mega Evolution. Yes!

She points at a student who has their hand raised.

Student: Wasn't Mega Evolution created by the King of Kalos firing the Ultimate Weapon 3000 years ago?

Zinnia sits on the desk.

Zinnia: Well, that's certainly one version of the story.

Zinnia lays back on the desk.

Zinnia: In truth, nobody really knows where Mega Evolution came from. There are a lot of different stories but who knows which one is true.

She springs back upright.

Zinnia: Maybe none of them are true. Maybe all of them are. It's a mystery, and that's what makes it so fun. I certainly know which story I prefer but, hey, I'm a bit biased.

Zinnia clicks the clicker again and the slide switches to an image of Sky Pillar taken from the air.

Zinnia: Alongside the Sootopolins, my people built a massive tower to record this story and pass it on to future generations, known today as Sky Pillar. It also serves as an altar to Lord Rayquaza, so that if we're ever in need, we can summon it to protect us.

Zinnia turns the smartboard off and leaps to her feet.

Zinnia: And that's part one. Its basic but its important to know. My next lecture will focus on the various native tribes of Hoenn and their cultures. Oh, and if any of you want to see an example of Mega Evolution in action, meet me in the Courtyard later. Class dismissed. Solar Opposites in Mighty Solars Issue #48: “Monster Mayhem Pt. 1” Ch. 3

Back with Louise, she was looking around for help, until she sees Trevor popping out of the water as she screams and he jumps on her. Louise smiles in joy.

Louise: Trevor?

Trevor: Hey baby.

Trevor and Louise kiss. Then, they see Dr. Weatherstone arriving on a home ice slide made by her own hands and then, Janice flies over them with her own flight.

Dr. Weatherstone: Hey sis. What up?!

Louise: You guys are not gonna believe but I can create green lava! shows her new powers

Dr. Weatherstone: No way! I just got ice powers and when I found Janice, she told me she got air powers!

Trevor: No way! I got water powers too! We must tell the Mighty Solars, they can help us! Come on!

The quartet then takes off to find their fellow heroes. The Human Solars ran to the league witches of Earth-4 and the rest of their fellow Mighty Solars.

Human Terry: Guys, what happened?! What happened to to 5 Teen Witches?!

Human Jesse: I don’t know but this city is fancy!

Luke: Ugh! Someone has entered their minds and have made their form’s uncontrollable! When we tries to get them to hear us, someone went inside their minds and have turn them into the worst things possible, Titans!

The human Solars gasp.

Human Korvo: Oh no…we gotta save them or-

Miss Frankie/Nightsaw: Uh, quick fellow humans go get our fellow Mighty Solars aliens quick! winks at the Human Solars

Human Korvo: On it!

The human solars then went and hide behind the walls as they turn back into their Shlorpian forms.

Korvo: Mighty Solars, time to suit up!

Terry: Hell yeah!

The group suits up. And with that the Solar Opposites family transform into their Mighty Solars and runs up to meet the others.

Suddenly, when the Five Kaiju Teen Witches combine their blast at the heroes, it ends up blasting Louise, Trevor, Alice, Dr. Weatherstone and Janice, which ends up powering them as they scream. As the dust clears, the heroes sees five new heroic figures as Stacy G looks in worried.

Stacy G: MOM!

Stacy G tries run up but Fung-irl stops her As the dust clears, like when the Calamity trio transformed in Amphibia it is revealed that Trevor, Louise, Alice, Janice and Dr. Weatherstone have received their own Mighty Solars super suits

Dr. Weatherstone/???: Woah!

Louise/???: voice gets distorted; lifts her green lava cape Swanky duds!

Vil-Gil-An-T‘s jaw drops in shock. Alice grins as she shoots a lightning spider web up at the sky as she grins and blows the smoke off of her finger.

Alice/???: Louise, I have no idea we can do that!

Dr. Weatherstone/???: Did you know about this?

Louise/???: Uh, nope. These powers feel way more intense than before.

Janice/???: floating behind Louise The powers must stack when used in tandem! H’no Classic synergy buff y’know.

Quasarblast suddenly thinks of something.

Korvo Solar-Opposites/Qausarblast: This is perfect! Maybe you guys can distract the girls while we-

Trevor/???: Guys! Look! I’m walking plasma of H2O! This is awesome!

Quasarblast shifts a little.

Korvo Solar Opposites/Qausarblast: As I was saying, you new five can help us distract the girls while we find a way to stop whoever is doing this to them!

Phoebe MacCarthy/Starburst: That could work!

Marissa: offscreen Oh will it?

The heroes gasp and then sees the dream amulet broken as smoke flies from it and then they see Marissa floating above the broken amulet.

Parker/Venus Tip: Oh no.

Min-Li: gasp What?! This is impossible?! You were supposed to be trapped and-

Marissa: It’s too late! These girls are now under my control!

Yumi: What do you mean?!

Marissa grins evilly which made Starburst growl and realize something.

Phoebe MacCarthy/Starburst: You bitch! It was you who did this! You’re a fucking psycho!

Quasarblast growls in anger upon hearing what Marissa did.

Korvo Solar-Opposites/Quasarblast: You monster! How could you-

Marissa: I had already some help! Someone who was willing to help me! It’s too late! These girls are now mine! Nothing can stop me-

Suddenly, a blast hits Marissa as she falls to the ground in pain and lets go her staff.

Terry Solar-Opposites/Mighton: What the fuck?! Who did that?!

Cherie: I don’t know.

Darcy/Sonar Woman: Wasn’t me!

Korvo Solar-Opposites/Quasarblast: We need to stop her now!

Suddenly a woman’s chuckle was heard, which sounded familiar to Cherie, Nova, Montez and Sherbet.

Nova/Heartstar: Oh my God… that voice…

Cherie: It can’t be… can it?

Sherbet/Fizziepop: Oh God. No! No!

Cheery Smithers/Bloody Sympathy: Guys, what’s wrong?

???: Oh you poor things. Trap in a mind of a rogue witch… all that woman wanted to is get her fucking stupid son back on her side and rule the world and take you for advantage… but she was just a fool… I however… can make an offer to you five…

Suddenly…a blazing lightning midnight purple spiritual mist appears as it reveals an old foe of the Wallians… Sister Sisto as the Heartstar, Cherie, Montez and Fizziepop gasp in horror while the others grow shock.

Cherie: Sister Sisto?!

Terry Solar-Opposites/Mighton: You know her?!

Sister Sisto/???: Hello, my former fellow Bowinians…

Jesse Solar-Opposites/Fung-irl: Bowinians?! What?!

Korvo Solar-Opposites/Quasarblast: Heartstar, what is happening?!

Nova/Heartstar: Guys, that’s the false prophet we were telling you about last time when we first met! That’s Sister Sisto!

Mighton gasps.

Quasarblast looks angrily at Yumyulack.

Korvo Solar-Opposites/Quasarblast: sighs in dismay; deadpan Way to go Vil-Gil-An-T… you accidentally created a villain!

Yumyulack Solar-Opposites/Vil-Gil-An-T: I didn’t know!

Montez: I’m sorry true! She’s a false prophet and a murder and a kidnapper! She’s the one who causes all of this! The death of Tim, death of Sister Sasha, the temperature, everything!

Vil-Gil-An-T starts crying.

Cherie: She also kidnapped Pezlie and made her an icon! She also used Jesse as a pawn of her own.

Korvo-Solar-Opposites/Qausarblast: comforts his son Hey, it’s okay… you didn’t know… shh…

Yumyulack Solar-Opposites/Vil-Gil-An-T: I’m so sorry, Cherie.

Cherie: comforts Vil-Gil-An-T It’s okay. You didn’t know. Sisto was also using Jesse as a legend just to get people to follow her in a path of death!

Sister Sisto/???: Oh, this is very touching but I think it’s time I sealed your fate!

Marissa growls but gets grabbed in the rope by Sister Sisto.

Marissa: Let me go! grunts

Ms. Frankie/Night Saw: You’re not gonna stop us!

Sister Sisto/???: Oh I sure will. For I am… reveals her new physical form and a villain suit of her own Black Mirror!

Heartstar gasps

Sonya/Nighthowler: Oh no! She’s crazy!

Sister Sisto/Black Mirror: Oooh! But first…

Black Mirror attacks Mighton.

Korvo Solar-Opposites/Quasarblast: MIGHTON! growls at Black Mirror

Mighton groans in pain while Qausarblast helps his hubby up and looks at Black Mirror furiously then uses her mind control on the 5 Kalju Teen Witches as they roar in pain. Marisa tries to get out a beastly looking potion, only the wind to blew it out of her hands onto Quasarblast’s leg as he screams in pain.

Suddenly, Quasarblast starts screaming in pain as he suddenly starts growing bigger and muscular and his skin starts to turn black as he starts growing to the size of a KaIju beast.

Randall/Blackhole: Oh shit!

Principal Cooke/Trailblazer: That’s a huge bitch!

Terry Solar-Opposites/Mighton: Quasarblast?!

Now a giant KaIju Mundane, Quasarblast roars while the rest of the Mighty Solars gasp in horror and Black Mirror laughs evilly.

Jesse Solar-Opposites/Fung-irl: What’s happening?!

Sonya/Nighthowler: Quasarblast! No!

Yumyulack Solar-Opposites/Vil-Gil-An-T: What have you done?! You turn our dad into a fucking monster!

Mighton starts crying.

Sister Sisto/Black Mirror: Aw what’s the matter Mighton? Love the makeover I intentionally did to your husband?

Mighton starts snarling in anger with tears in his eyes. He then punches Black Mirror in the face as she growls.

Sister Sisto/Black Mirror: You strong arm bitch! What the fuck?!

Terry Solar-Opposites/Mighton: YOU WILL PAY FOR WHAT YOU DID!

Black Mirror grins and escapes by turning into her spirit form and leads the 5 KaIju monsters away from the heroes. Mundane Quasarblast growls as his eyes glow aquamarine and angirly follows the monsters for battle.

Terry Solar-Opposites/Mighton: No…Korvo!

Nova/Heartstar: We have to go after them!

Louise/???: We’ll take care of the girls! You take care of Quasarblast!

The heroes split up while Mighton looks tearfully at Mundane Quasarblast roaring.

Terry Solar-Opposites/Mighton: KORVO!

Mega Mundane Quasarblast snarls as Mighton jumps up and lands on him desperately.

Terry Solar-Opposites/Mighton: SNAP OUT OF IT! PLEASE! I DON’T LIKE SEEING YOU LIKE THIS! crying PLEASE STOP!

Mega Mundane Qausarblast growls, which causes Mighton to cry even more as he hugs Quasarblast’s face.

Terry Solar-Opposites/Mighton: sobbing hysterically THIS ISN’T YOU! I KNOW YOU’RE IN THERE, KORVY!

Mega Mundane Quasarblast then stops growling as his face softens and he sees his husband crying.

Mega Mundane Korvo Solar-Opposites/Quasarblasr: T-Terry? Is that you?!

Terry Solar-Opposites/Mighton: Korvo?

2017 Ducktales as pokemon trainers an their Teams

Here’s the next, are currently final, Disney cartoon on my list for makings characters into pokemon trainers. After this I will move over to doing other shows on Cartoon network. I did not get into this show when it was airing, and that was my bad. Once I did watch it it quickly became on of my favorites, and inspired me to look up older cartoons surrounding Donald, and his family as well. Its a good show an seems to be (rightly) held up as one of the best done reboots. Hopefully it still has some fans going back to its fan base, who will check this out.

I am going to do this list a bit differently than my other though. In previous lists I have either given all the characters full teams of 6, or given main characters teams of 6 and secondary characters teams of 3-4 pokemon. For 2017 Ducktales though, since it has such a large cast and they all always go on adventures in groups, I am not giving anyone 6 pokemon. Because then there would really be to many characters to fit in the plane, much less the show. Considering the group sizes I have decided to give the child characters 2 pokemon each, adult members of the duck family (by both blood and heart) get three each. This way the three triplets, or Webby, and her friends would all have six in total. Same with Duo’s like Donald and Della, or Scrooge and Beakley. I am also only giving villain or antagonist characters two, because that’s about the mass number villains ever had at one time in the show.

Huey, Dewey, and Louie Duck

Huey Duck

Pansear: Its the red one in a red, blue, and green trio. It’s to represent his bonds with his two younger brothers

Snover: I wanted to give him a woodland grass-type, since in the 2017 version he is the boy scout of the trio and loves camping/the wilderness. What makes Snover work even better for him is that it is also an ice-type pokemon. Huey having both a fire and an ice pokemon represents his need to keep balance in his life, both externally and internally.

Small note I know he’s the “Smarter than the Smarties” brother, but the smartest pokemon I know is Slowking, and its first two evolutions are dumb. So for Huey I went with his other traits.

Dewey Duck

Panpour: It’s the blue one in a red, blue, green trio. It’s to represent his bonds with his older and younger brother.

Rufflet: Dewey was the hardest to pick a second pokemon for. He is the “tougher than the toughies” brother, so he needed a tough, scrappy, pokemon for his second. He also wants to become a daring adventure pilot, like his mom and launchpad, so I had to pick a flying pokemon. Since he is only just starting out I decided to look for a smaller flying type pokemon, that would one day evolve into a more massive bird, so it could kinda grow with him. It would also need to be super cute because, you know he would post lots of pictures of him and his pokemon to garnish media attention. My search led me to Rufflet, who was all that and blue too. Perfection

Louie Duck

Pansage: It’s the green one in a red, blue, green trio. It’s to represent his bonds with his older brothers.

Meowth: Louie is the “Sharper than the Sharpies” brother, and Meowth has a pretty mean fury swipe. It also loves money and can be kinda lazy. Louie and a meowth is an easy match

Webby,Lena, and Violet

Webby Vandraquack

 Webby is the warrior of both her groups, so I decided that both her pokemon would be fighting types.

Medicham: Not gonna lie a lot of the reason I picked this pokemon was that it is pink, which is Webby’s trade mark color (and one of Lena’s nicknames for her). But it also works because its a very patient and studied fighter, like Webby. Its also the only pokemon I have given to a child character that has evolved. Let’s be real Webby would easily be the first of her group to evolve a pokemon, and its potential to mega evolve means she could still go farther with it

Machop: for Webby’s second pokemon I bounced a few around and kept going back to Machop. Its gray coloring fits her ascetic, much like Medicham. But it also fits her in that it is a tough, brawny fighter, that is trained in multiple types of martial arts, just like Webby. Machop never tires of training/working out. Webby never tires of adventure.

Lena (De Spell) Saberwing

Just as Webby had fighting types I decided that Lena, being the living shadow of a sorceress, should have dark types. More specifically Heroic dark types

Absol: Same reason I gave one to (TOH)’s Hunter. It has associations with bad things happening, and many believe it to be a bad pokemon. But once you get close you learn that Absol is not really bad underneath it all. It wants to help people and pokemon a like stay safe when disaster falls.

Also both it and Medicham can mega evolve. So power couple Weblena can go together to find their stones, and then show the younger generation how strong their Pokemons mega forms are.

Zorua: Another easy choice for Lena. A shadowy fox, with has illusion based magic powers, that it will use when it gets scared or defensive. Zoura discriptions honestly  make it sound like it is a pokemon version of Lena. I could see it, Absol, and Lena making a really strong and supportive team/family for each other.

Violet Saberwing

So unlike the other two girls, I am not going to link Violet to one particular type of pokemon. Looking at her character I think she would prefer to catch and train different types of pokemon.

Anorith: First things first violet absolutely has to have a fossil pokemon. When asked by Scrooge if she liked history the girl out right said “It is my life”, so there’s no way she would not have one. I picked Anorith for couple reasons. 1. Is that even if we never saw it in the show, I 100% believe that Violet is the type of child who is absolutely fascinated with bugs and insects. 2. She is not ready yet, but when she did eventually evolve it, it would be way cool to see this stone faced, brainiac, goth girl with a big, armored, dinosaur.

Vulpix: I also really wanted to give her a fire type pokemon, since two of her best scenes in the show (building herself a hang glider to get over a lava pit in the senior woodchuck race, and downing those ultra spices without breaking a sweat) involve being around extreme heat. Vulpix and its evolved form Ninetales have some really interesting lore and connections to Japaneses mythology. Once again I could see Violet being very fascinated with it.

Also giving her a Vilpix would mean that both her and Lena would have mystical fox pokemon, which could reference the sisterly bond they eventually develop.

Gosalyn Waddlemeyer

I wanted to give her two pokemon for the two parental figures in her life.

Klefki: This one is for her grandfather. Klefki is a magic set of keys that can help its trainer enter into new places for adventure. This represents Dr. Waddlemeyer and what he originally wanted with the Ramrod.

Rowlet: For her connection to Drake Mallard an the dark wing trio (Drake, Launchpad, and Gosalyn) I at first wanted to give all of them bat pokemon, but even after spending days going over each and every bat pokemon I could only really make one work for Launchpad. Then I read that Darkwing is supposed to be more of a general superhero based parody, rather than a batman specific parody. I also  thought about how Drake isn’t even the original Darkwing duck, but a fan emulating what the story meant to him. So I switched the connection between the three to being nocturnal pokemon, and it worked so much better.

After the switch Rowlet became a clear pick for Gosalyn’s second pokemon. It is scrappy, able to give powerful kicks. It is sharp and will one day evolve into a skilled archer, a weapon Gosalyn showed interest in learning to use. It also would be interesting to see it interact with Dewey’s Rufflet, given how Dewey and Gosalyn become good friends in her introduction episode, and how it would be easy for Dewey to come with Launchpad to visit Gosalyn and Drake.

B.O.Y.D

Because B.O.Y.D is a sentient, artificial boy, who was created in a lab; I decided to give him sentient, artificial, pokemon, that were also created in a lab.

Porygon: Because of course he would get a porygon. It’s the original artificial pokemon. Both an anomaly and a wonder. It is also decently powerful, can safely go into many environments, and even moving freely in cyberspace.

Castform: I picked this as B.O.Y.D’s second pokemon because it is adorable and can change its forum depending on its environment. Both Castform and B.O.Y.D have the opportunity to chose who they want to be.

Doofus Drake

I did not want to do him, but if I can give pokemon to Gideon Gleeful I should be able to give them to Doofus too. One qualification I am looking for is “must be powerful enough to beat his butt if he does not treat them well”

Abra: Okay so I do not really fully remember what reasons I had for choosing this one for him. Its powerful, kinda creepy, and can appear very suddenly, just like Doofus. It likes to hang out in tree tops, which Doofus does too. Also its a pretty calm, blank faced pokemon. In Doofus’s supposed “Birthday (I doubt it was his actual birthday) episode” he said blank stares are soothing to him. So it is feasable he may actually like Abra. If not again it could easily send him flying and teleport away,

Cubone: Its a lonely pokemon that misses its deceased mother badly. When I try to look at things from Doofus’s eyes his grandmother was to quote him “the only parent I have ever known”. There are some subtle hints that maybe his mom and dad weren’t really interested in being parents at first. The family lives off Gummeemama’s money, and presumably did when she was alive. Gummeemama likely could not cut them off without losing access to Doofus, and if she was the one raising him she could have feared his neglect if his parents took him with them. This would give some explanation as to why she willed all her money to her grandchild instead of his parents.

After her death Doofus forced his parents to take employment from him to be able to keep up their lifestyle, and threatened to fire them if they did not spend time with him the way his grandmother used to. But even they are not enough to fill the void her death left in him, and he really wants a close connection like that to someone again. Kid Gammeemama is gone, and nothing you can do will change that. You need grief support, and maybe Cubone could give that to you. Once again if he treats Cuey badly, at least it could take out its bone and defend itself.

May and June

So originally they, and their sister April, are supposed to be Daisy’s nieces and female versions of the three boys. In the 2017 series May and June are Webby (formerly April)’s clone sisters, and at the end of season 3 the pair are implied to be adopted by Donald, and eventually Daisy too. The show was canceled one season early, and as a result we never got to see much of the two girls or their personalities (Seems like May (the yellow one) is a bit more protective/confrontational, while June (the blue one) is more curios and silly) so I originally was not going to have them on this list. But they are part of the Duck family, and it seemed wrong not to give them at least one pokemon each.

At first I was just gonna have them each get the same pokemon, and I went through eevee (I feel like I may use its line to much as it is), dito (doesn’t have yellow form and in this case felt like a cop out), and Pichu (closer, but still not right). Finally I decided that they would probably have water pokemon since thy would have to catch them while sailing with Donald and Daisy (Since Bradford hates adventure so much, I headcannon he would probably also hate pokemon and would have not allowed the girls to have them at Fowl). So I went back and looked over water pokemon, particularly ones Misty had, for some that would be easy enough for a bargainers to train but still pretty powerful.

Then once again wanting to Match their pokemon to their trade mark colors (I did it for Webby and the boys) I decided May has a Staryu and June has an Azurill.

Rutoni & Laruni

"The twin siblings whom already arrive in a virtual reality world where players and spirits called 'youkais' interact with each other. Wanting to make friends, the twins will soon learn the secrets of this world...after a sudden dream encounter with a great crimson winged-creature"

Biology

Rutoni (He/Him)

A 14-year-old boy and Laruni’s brother. Always a childish and great smile he has but nevertheless when he suddenly stumbles onto the world…where he can actually see yokais?! Instead of the yokai watch, he wears a strange white glove with a round symbol. He doesn’t know why or how he got it. 

Rutoni’s favorite hobby of all time: making friends with everyone! He loves to play around and is willing to try something new to him and his sister. With a childish personality, Rutoni is a watcher who doesn’t know what is right or wrong for himself, Laruni, or his friends. When given decisions, he suddenly drops his act...and begins to act nervously.

Laruni (She/Her)

A 14-year old girl and Rutoni’s sister. A great cheerful and childish smile for Laruni now turns into a frightening experience when she and her brother suddenly appears in a strange world. They don’t know how they got here yet it suddenly got more weird and strange when yokais are appearing…without their watches?! Similar to Rutoni, Laruni’s got a white glove with a round symbol.

Laruni can be a bit jolly kid sometimes, making it hard for anyone to tell why or when she used to laugh that much (even Rutoni doesn’t know lol). Showing off a sweet personality, Laruni’s trying her best to stay connected with the friends she made since the time she suddenly lost few or some in the past. She was never given a reason why, thus making her drop her usual self…and become more isolated.

Main Youkai Companions

Rutoni's Companion: Nyainto (She/Her) - A 'special' Puninyan who believes she has a "super duper power called limit breaker" that needs to be awaken when the time comes. She has the same orb as Rutoni's attached in her tail

Laruni's Companion: Astekomal (He/Him) - A 'special Punikoma who thinks he possess an "ultimate power known as the limit breaker" that dwells inside his soul. When the moment comes, he will unleash that power. He has the same orb as Laruni's attached to his furoshiki

Special Gatcha Powers:

Link Spirit

By using their gloves, they can create their powers and unleash it against enemies. They serve similar mechanics to the yokai watches such as summoning and version upgrades. Guiding the "Punis" will form combo attacks: the more combo chains they build up, the more powerful their attacks are.

Mega Evolution (Mega Yokais)

A great ambush by Rinne's Goku Army/Kachi Kachi Army suddenly cause a burst of strange energy coming out from their gloves. That energy...is Mega Evolution. How the twins obtain that mysterious power will remain unknown...

Aiko Waruuto (She/They)

"A teenage girl who lives throughout her normal, daily life in a world where the technology era becomes another step to advancement. From a freelancer photographer to a free-spirited traveler that secretly admires the old folktales, Aiko will soon make the greatest memories of her lifetime when the app she used alot receive a major update..."

Biology

A 19-year-old teen girl who is much more outdoor person. When Aiko was young, she met and befriended someone who came from a “world of spirits” they told her. This someone was the spark for Aiko’s interest in folklore tales (thanks to a bunch of ghost storytelling). As time pass, Aiko is currently working as a freelancer photographer for taking scenery pictures and helping out clients in need. When she needs a break, she is free to spend time on doing domestic style or playing games. Aiko’s life have always been normal for her…before a certain day arrives involving a major update announcement of an app she used to play.

A bit sarcastic but very talkative for Aiko when certain topics have been brought up. She’s very familiar with everything that is natural or something that is normal for society (EX: People make mistakes, life can be hard most or sometimes). Aiko’s also a social person when it comes to teaching her friends with less social experience.

Main Youkai Companions

Chibi Eyebo "nicknamed as Chibi" (He/Him) - A special type of the Eyepos. This yokai is very fond of traveling around the world and humans due to his curiosity over culture and food. His powers were weak, yet he wields a hidden potential that will grant him the greatest role when the time arrives

Special Gatcha Powers:

Youkai Summoning Device

After a fateful encounter with the "strange, futuristic dragon", the app suddenly made her phone transform into a summoning device that allows her to see, befriend, and summon youkais into combat. In addition, another feature was added in case of emergency: Flash

This allows Aiko to stun youkais that are willing to inspirit/harm her by activating that feature on her phone. Thus, releases a wide range shot of flashing light. It is a powerful stunning attack that is only affected to youkais.

Mega Evolution (Mega Yokais)

A horde encounter of "strange youkais" caused the app on her phone to activate a hidden program called Mega Evolution. A special energy that allows youkais to "evolve even further than beyond". The weird app on Aiko's phone continues to remain a mystery to her...

Shokyou (They/Them)

"A strange youkai who goes by the name of 'the Demon God Commander'. The title may sound exaggerating...but the powers they possess could lead to an ultimate end. In a world of endless battle over a common yet corrupted desire, Shokyou will enter a path of discovery...when a horde of 'strange youkais' appear that seem out of this world"

Biology

A youkai known as the “Demon God Commander”. Awoken from a few groups of Commander Youkais, Shokyou barely recalls anything before they enter a deep slumber, including how they earned that title. The one thing they know is a strange…yet familiar word,

"conquest the world, seek the bind"

They don’t know the reason but surely..those strange words made Shokyou to begin their conquest journey, along with the Commander Yokais, in the world of Romance of the Three Kingdoms/Sangokushi.

With such very appealing and cool appearance, Shokyou has a much more soft-side personality: they’re comfortable with talking to others..except in a tactical, strategic way. With the lack of social knowledge makes the commander more curious and wanting to learn about the “real world”. Anyone who mentioned those social terms (Human tech, domestic stuffs) will definitely bring the demon god commander in. On the other side of their personality, Shokyou’s mind is filled with battle tactics. The moment they engage in a battle, Shokyou will show no fear of striking the opponent’s weakness.

Special...Gatcha Powers?:

Summoning Mark

The mark shown visually on Shokyou's left hand granted the Commander the ability to summon Gunmashins (Army Demon Gods). Not only will it serve as a boosting power for the Commander Yokais, Shokyou can also wield the Gunmashins' power by shifting classes (From Normal to Magic class)

Godfires

Usually for the trio to have one "Gatcha Power", Shokyou is the expectation: They seem to possess another power yet the how will continue to remain unknown.

That power is called Godfires, great spiritual powers that once believed they were lost right before Shokyou's eternal slumber. Shokyou claims they've lost at least 8 Godfires. The 1st was already recovered: the Crimson Fire

Mega Evolution (Mega Yokais)

The long journey with their friends and their army of Commander Youkais has finally awoken that great power during the greatest battles. The power to evolve "beyond further than the original", Mega Evolution. Could this be the secret power of the summoning mark or were there more mysteries to unfold for Shokyou?

OwO what’s this about Alain having an Abra?

Can't sleep so might as well.

There's some au stuff involved, but I'll keep that explanation quick. Basically, I have this au called the ness and tal au, where Alain has Xerneas(Ness) and yveltal (Tal) as siblings (more info here but you don'treally need to know all that to understand this). They're extremely chaotic and i love them

So Alain starts travelling, right. And at some point very early into their journey they run into an abra. Ness and Tal help catch the abra because abras can teleport and that's convenient. The abra is named Ara.

And Ara is a complete theatre kid. His personality can be summed up as "nothing is worth doing if you can't show off while doing it". He wants the glory. He's gonna go the whole nine yards even to do something mundane.

He also has a mega alakazamite. Just, on him. The trio is excited about that, obviously. Its a mega stone! That's what they set out to search for!

Escept the abra isn't letting them take it so- whoops, gonna deal with that later i guess

Ara loves battling. Ara wants to evolve to be stronger, too. But he doesn't want to just evolve. Because simply evolving isn't good enough. Not for him. Its got to be in style.

Alright then.

They battle train him on and off - tms and stuff, charmander evolves into charmeleon, canon, tsme, yada yada yada you know the general stuff. At some point Ara has to switch the mega stone for an everstone so he doesn't accidentally evolve (we're going to run on the assumption that lysandre doesnt know/care about the alakazamite because its more convenient that way)(same goes for the legendaries or you can assume they start keeping their distance or w/e)

So... yeah. Canon's happening. We make it to the league. The lumiose conference! A competition among the strongest trainers in the region!

You know what's a glorious thing to do?

Win the league

You know what's an even more glorious thing to do?

Evolve while winning the league.

And so. SO. THE PLAN BEGINS

Most of the league goes the same way. Alain just sweeps with charizard or metagross. Until the finals. The finals. The biggest battle of them all.

Ash sends out pikachu.

Alain sends out an abra.

Now, of course, this has to be a joke, right. An abra. In league finals.

Okay whatever we can win this but the abra lands a few psychics and its evolving?? Oh shit- and you know what! Kadabra's dex entry says that its psychic powers can give those around it headaches and a headache is definitely not good for battles so now obviously ashs team gets the headaches

I'm not entirely too sure how the battle itself goes. Either we have a lot of switching or a complete arasweep so by the end of it ara is an alakazam (this is the ONLY reason why its the ness and tal au. Ness messed around a little and gave him a little energy boost so he'd be able to evolve without trade)(sidenote, if we do switching, there is 100% going to be a scene where charizard is absolutely gettin beat down but alain doesnt mega evolve her and she FAINTS AND WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON-)

In any case. The final matchup is Ara the newly evolved alakazam vs ash's super cool greninja! And considering the only moves ara has used so far are psychic and protect, and is extremely weak because of the damage he has taken, it should b an easy win for greninja.

Right?

But Ara isn't done yet. He's going to go the whole ten yards. He has his megastone.

Yes diantha and sycamore figure it out and find it funny. Yes ash is EXTREMELY confused and may end up having a self doubt arc akin to snowbelle city- but we're not dealing with THAT today

Aids rock concert attracts television audience of 1 billion in 70 countries

AS MEGA music events go this was the daddy of them all. And all because a man of Persian extraction whose funeral took place under the rites of the Parsee religion died a hero of Aids awareness.

The Wembley Staidum tribute to Freddie Mercury yesterday was the sort of rock band-wagon that bands would have killed to get aboard.

An audience of up to one billion — bigger than Live Aid seven years ago and transmitted by satellite via 13 feeds to 70 countries — had a chance to see Elizabeth Taylor and Sir Bob Geldof appearing on the same stage. These things are made in heaven.

Such was the demand for tickets, which were sold out withing hours of the concert announcement, that touts were trying to buy outside the stadium before they could sell. Some £35 tickets were changing hands for £250.

The concert had a big message. A besequinned Ms Taylor jetted in from Los Angeles as president of the American Foundation for Aids Research. "Get off," shouted some yob. "I'll get off," she said, "but I've got something to say first."

The message was simple: "Every time you have sex, use a condom, every single time... And if you use drugs, don't share the needle."

In two weeks, she said, there will be as many HIV positive infections in the world as there were people there before her.

The audience of 72,000 fans were decked out with red ribbons, a symbol of Aids awareness. Millions of pounds will be generated for Aids research. The Terrence Higgins Trust has already received £1 million from the re-release of Queen's baroque anthem of 1985, Bohemian Rhapsody.

Queen's enduring success attracted a line-up of getting-on-wrinkly superstars.

Roger Daltrey from The Who, David Bowie, and Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin joined the three remaining band members for some of the Queen's greatest hits.

It was left to Elton John to sing the band's last ironic single, The Show Must Go On.

SPONTANEITY and intimacy are the first casualties of the globally synchronised super-gig. Queen's achievement at Live Aid was to shoehorn all their strengths into a 20 minute set. But, although orchestrating a batch of the world's biggest rock acts with split-second precision at Wembley last night might prove to have been a great way to headline the global Aids crisis, it left no room for emotional bonding with the spirit of the late Mercury.

Mercury would probably have preferred it that way. He presented himself to the world in grandiose terms, and kept his inner life — and his illness — a secret. His presence on giant video screens was at least as imposing as the live acts.

With painstaking editing, it might even have been possible to reconstruct Freddie completely, just for the evening.

Still, one major benefit of international satellite TV link ups is that everything has to run to time. Thus, Metallica opened the concert moments after the scheduled 5pm start. More incredible still, the trio appeared to have found the secret of the perfect stadium-sized live sound. Their terse three-song set was melodic heavy metal at an extraordinary pinnacle of technical perfection.

Freddie's posthumous stature grew steadily. The rest of the first half featured acts playing their own material in tribute, apart from Extreme's slick Queen medley. But part two was the remaining members of Queen trying to recreate their old hits with guest vocalists. It worked only sporadically.

The crowd would have much preferred Robert Plant to sing Led Zeppelin songs than Queen's. And every time Seal takes the stage, he merely provides more ammunition to those who believe he can't sing.

The best bits were almost thrown away, like Bowie and Ian Hunter's rousing All The Young Dudes. It was George Michael who seized the senior statesman crown with his sobering Aids warning, and he hammered it home with Somebody To Love.

Only recently, an event of this scale and sophistication would have represented the limit of the possible, but this one will have to be judged on how effectively it conveyed its message.

Yeah. I'm back with another tier list. The old one is kinda out dated in my views on the show, plus I didn't have episode 8 in it....or maybe even 7? IDK. I'm not going back to check.

There will be explanations as to why I like these episodes (Or don't like them)/ You don't have to read them. They aren't that important lol.

Alright Let's get to it.

#8: Episode 5-Home

Yeah. I definitely ranked this episode WAY higher when I made the first tier lists. It's not really a bad episode in anyway, but it's definitely a confusing one. Also it's just the least entertaining to me. I often find myself skipping it because it's honestly not that replayable to me. It's not bad, just, eh?

#7: Episode 1-Pilot

The pilot is alright but definitely not the best episode out there. The animation is the worst here. It makes sense since this was the FIRST episode and it really isn't too bad for what it is, but it has definitely aged poorly compared to the rest of the series. I don't really get the the teenage hormone jokes. I get that it's not really that deep but they make no sense since their robots. Honestly the only joke I liked was the one with Uzi's presentation. That was good. However this episode does give you feral N, Thad screentime, and Uzi's railgun, so It gets points for that. Overall, it's pretty entertaining but not MD's best.

#6: Episode 8-Absolute End

I really wanted to like this one. I really really REALLY wanted to. TO be fear, It's not a bad episode in itself. I love the animation and I loved all of the scenes with Cyn in them. It's amazing how they were able to make her cute while also making her an actual threat to be feared. The music is top-notched and it's a very entertaining episode. Unfortunately, this is no normal episode. It's the finale, and that's where I have to take off points. There are so many missed opportunities here or ideas in the episode that I think could have been played around with more. This episode also had really bad pacing issues. You could say that about any MD's episode but it is BAD here. Overall, an alright episode, but a bad finale.

#5: Episode 3-The Promning

Alright. Now we're at the point of episodes I REALLY liked. Promning is just a cute episode overall, with N and Uzi having a awkward reunion before running to save V's ass in the last second. I like the fight scene between Uzi and Doll and I like the small little dancy dance that N and Uzi did. This is the also thye episode I think shit really starts to hits the fan with Uzi's powers and therefore makes it more exciting.

#4: Episode 2- Heartbreak

This episode isn't really that popular and it's such a shame because it is SO good! I honestly think this episode was peak purely for the N, Uzi, and Thad trio dynamic. Seriously they work real well together and I'm sad that they never really grouped up like this afterwards. It's honestly super amusing to see N or Uzi interacting with other people that aren't each other. This episode is also the most horrifying to me honestly. The idea of never being sure weather or not anything you see is real is kinda scary and the lord knows I'd be more then paranoid after the shot Uzi went through in that episode

#3: Episode 6: Dead End

Still a solid episode in my book. I...don't really have anything to yap about. I'm not sure why it's so high on the list. I really liked Tessa in this episode. So much so that I cry every time I remember it's not actually Tessa. I like the small Nuzi moment and V's sacrifice, while a bit sudden, did an alright job finishing her arc, leaving episode 8 to clean things up a bit. Overall, an entertaining episode.

#2: Episode 7: Final destination

YOU GUYS DON'T KNOW HOW MUCH I LOVE FINAL DESTINATION. YOU DON'T KNOW! Episode 7 is THE goat. We get to see Nori and Yeva before they got messed up by Disassembly drones and they are the cutest best friends ever. Their so cute that it's almost sad how much their daughters hate each other. Then we have N's reaction to V's death which chef kiss. I love N and Nori's dynamic, I like the fight with Solver Uzi, I like when N killed Tessa (Badass moment), I like Uzi's sacrifice, I loved Thad and Lizzy's involvement. This episode has a special place in my heart. Some say this is where the series fell off but I say that's a load of BS! Episode 7 is an easy 4.5 stars.

#1: Episode 4: Cabin fever

Cabin Fever is just a very heartwarming silly episode. First of all, I love N and V in camp councilor uniforms. They are unironically the best outfits in the series. It's nice to see the DD's interact with the background character and I really love solver Uzi. She's so feral and cute. I wanna pinch he little cheeks. However, My main reason for loving this episode is the ski diving therapy Uzi and N had. It just really feeds my Nuzi heart and honestly, this episode was really the one that convinced me that they were meant to be. They just know how to talk to each other and confide with each other. It shows that their bond is so strong. How they'll do anything for each other. I'm almost sort of envious. I need an N in my life :<. Anyways I do deem this to be my favorite episode. That and also Vizzy sitting together on a bus. Their also real cute and I wish they interacted more, especially since they are canonically friends.

Bored and did a tier list of the legendary groups

Explanation for every one under the cut because I can’t be normal

Top Tier:

Treasures of Ruin: my favorite thing to come out of Scarlet and Violet. The designs? Awesome. The lore? Even more awesome. Their abilities? Cool. Their music? So so good. If not for my bias towards the weather trio these would be solidly my #1, but they’re just fluidly #1

Weather Trio: I think they are the epitome of a legendary group. While their design is simple, it clearly conveys what they represent. The lore between Groudon and Kyogre is great but I think we all know which one excels in that category. Music as always is a banger and their signature moves and abilities are cool too. ORAS’ addition of the primals and megas made them that much better

Creation Trio (+Arceus): though I never played the sinnoh games, I think they’re really cool especially in terms of design and lore (hard not to be cool with everything Legends Arceus did too). Their music is cool, their signature moves are cool, and Arceus’ ability is cool. The trio kinda got the short end of the stick with abilities (pressure being the like. Default ability for legendaries) but they’re still cool to me

Aura Trio: never played XY or the ultra games but they are visually and lore-y really cool. Life and Death and then the Ecosystem where they interact. Poor zygarde got the short end of the stick in terms of. Well. Everything. But the Ultra Games picked up the slack enough for me. Music’s cool too, xerneas and yveltal’s moves and abilities are cool, but zygarde’s are cooler. Like the music too.

Light Trio: these are really cool to me. Especially necrozma. They really took the sun and moon title of the games and went. What if literally. The designs and lore are cool (especially Necrozma), and the fusion mechanic was a nice addition. Ultra necrozma is really funny. The music is really good too.

Dogs & Eternatus: I just think they’re neat. Really like their design and the tie in to the dynamax mechanic, but I wish we got more out of Eternatus. Lore is classic fairy tale heroes vs dragon which is always fun to see. Come on though. Pressure as an ability again?

Really cool

Mew and Mewtwo: I like the duality kinda thing of the genetic ancestor and the genetic descendant. Design is good, but not my favorite, and they’re really held together by the movies.

Galar Birds: THIS is a good redesign. Cool moves too. Not much to say about them, they kinda just show up, but they look super cool so they make it up here.

Eon Duo: they’re this high up because I’m biased. Getting a legendary in the middle of the story that can mega evolve? Cool. The eon flute? One of the coolest things GF ever did.

Regis: at first they were cool. Then gigas came along. Still cool. Then swsh gave us 2 new ones. Super cool. The fact you can have a full party of regis is so funny to me. Plus, giving more thought into the whole typing system. I like them because I only ever got them in swsh so I didn’t have to learn braille. That would have pissed me off

Calyrex + Horses: much as I despise them in vgc, the crown tundra story and design are really cool, so they get to stay up here. They’re kinda cool too. I guess.

Island Guardians/Tapus: good way to introduce terrain as a mechanic, also they look really cool and are lore cool too. I just don’t see them on the same level as those in the above tier.

Definitely have their place

Ho-Oh/Lugia: Ho Oh was my first legendary pokemon card, and it’s really cool. Never played the johto games, but Lugia drags it down to me. So much potential, but does not get there. Psychic Flying? Guardian of the seas? Interesting choice. Ho-Oh has a great theme but Lugia’s is kinda just okay to me

Forces of Nature: I actually think they’re quite cool. Even enamorus. The therian and incarnate thing is pretty cool, I also transform into something else in a mirror. Lando T is also funny and has a slot on my VGC team. Not because of intimidate, but it certainly helps and is my only counter to the bane of my existence (Urshifu)

Tao Trio: I never played BW. Or B2W2. I have no emotional connection to these guys, so they are just White Fire Dragon and Black Lightning Dragon to me, and I don’t really like their design. Kyurem holds them up a lot higher for me, as the fusion mechanic is really cool here. The music also kinda just feels like Legendary Pokemon music until the sound effects, and they never felt connected to the mons for me

Cresselia/Darkrai: I think they look cool, but that’s pretty much my only opinion on the matter. Design alone and dream theme gets them up this high, but honestly, seeing either of them in the daytime weirds me out

Koraidon/Miraidon. Really. Ko-Ride-On and Mi-Ride-On? For the pokemon you ride on? It’s fine though, their design is cool and even though they’re way overpowered they’re really nifty in the story. Sandwich smiley face

Great

Lake trio: only this high because of their music. One of my favorite themes in the series. Design wise, they needed to be similar, but they’re kinda just okay. Story and red chain gathering session from PLA make me like them enough

Paradox Swords of Justice: an improvement on the original designs, so I like them more. But a lack of paradox keldeo is truly unfortunate

Paradogs: also an improvement on the originals that make me like them more

Good

Kanto legendary birds: they’re. Kinda just fire ice and electric birds. Not much interesting about them for them to be higher, especially when you compare them to their Crown Tundra redesigns. Like the Spanish counting thing though.

Johto Dogs: much like the birds, they’re kinda just there. They get a little boost from the burning tower story, and their designs are a little better, but they aren’t as special to me as the other ones.

Swords of Justice: again, never played the unova games. They’re just like. Alongside the lake trio, they’re the first ones that usually appear on the mirage islands, and they’re kinda all just okay designs to me. Keldeo is cool though, so they don’t get their own meh tier.

Loyal Three: um. Of all the legendaries, this group is the one I’m most unsure of GF’s intentions. Did we need some poison type representation? Yes. Was this the move? I don’t think so.

When I just started, and I need to say that my bff and I started not with BTS' music, but with RUN BTS! We were absolutely obsessed with the show first. In that time my bias was Jimin, the first maybe month, as we were only watching RUN BTS! and not giving the attention to their music. I really fell for his looks and his jokes.

But when we started with their music, Hoseok stepped in pretty damn fast lmao I can't even tell you why tbh.

I really love his vibe in and out of BTS and duality in his solo music and his parts in BTS. Like, in the most BTS' songs I've listened (I haven't yet listened to everything I'm super slow at listening to music yes) he has that good positive guy vibe, exept for rap line songs, when their kick haters' asses. And his solo? Boom. The guy is psycho and I love him. I mean, i don't know how to say it english lmao but his solo music, as well as the way he speaks, is twitchy (?), like the tone of his voise always jums up and down and his beat in music, his voice in it too ("Arson" is a great example of what i'm trying to say here hahah) and I really freaking love that. For me Hobi in his music has that vibe of a bit freaky guy hahah

And his stage presence? In my humble opinion he has the most firing stage presence in BTS. I guess it was the main reason why I switched from Jimin to Hoseok in the first place. Not saying that Jimin has bad stage presence, his presence is incredible too, but even when Jimin was my bias I couldn't look at anyone but Hoseok if we watched their lives. It's like the each step he takes, each movement he does goes through his face and i can literally die wathcing him 😭 And sometimes it seems that he put so much energy in every movement that the freaking planet is turning just because of him lmao

And okay last but not least. His looks? Hoseok is freaking stunning.

I mean, long story short: i love his nutty vibes and his mad energy on stage

And Jimin is still in my megabias™ as well as Jin. My mega trio j-Hope, Jin and Jimin 💖

Haru, the [shiny] Starmie (female♀)

Rin’s Move set: Water Gun, Fury Atack, Bounce, Waterfall, Horn Drill, Toxic, Knock Off, Bubble Beam, Agility, Super Sonic.

Ability: Water Veil

Haru’s Move set: Scald, Toxic, Protect, Recover, Rapid Spin, Hydro pump, Double Edge, Swift, Bubble Beam, Ice Beam.

Ability: Nature Cure

Rin and Haru are gifts that Isabel received on her birthday and to congratulate her on her entry into a prestigious pokémon college in Unova where she would study to be a pokémon therapist;

Both Rin and Haru were pokémon trained as emotional support, as the challenges of academic life and in the future of her professional career would not be easy;

Rin and Haru are Pokémon very good at mediation, also becoming Isabel's assistants after graduation and throughout the years of their trainer's professional career;

Being pokémon registered as emotional support, they were the only ones of the few that remained legally in Isabel's custody after the accident.

Alphonse, the Venusaur (male♂)

Alphonse is a pokémon that Isabel got as an egg when she left on her journey, it had been a gift from her paternal grandparents;

When Alphonse was born, he became attached to Isabel thinking that she is his mother;

He used to be one of Isabel's main team pokémon in tournaments and championships;

He is a formidable opponent and still is even though he hasn't been on the battlefield in years;

After the incident he was placed in Kelly's custody and currently he is now a companion pokémon and lives with Isabel in Kelly's house in Motostoke;

He also help tend to the gardens as he enjoys gardening as much as his trainer does.

Eliza, the Dragonair (female♀)

Move set: Rain Dance, Aqua Jet, Attract, Ice beam, Water Pulse, Protect, Draco Meteor, Iron Tail, Fire Blast, Dragon Tail

Ability: Shed Skin

Eliza was a small Dratini who was separated from her herd in a storm at sea and ended up being taken by the waves until she reached the coastal area of ​​the Vermillion city;

The little pokémon wandered through the harbor, being weak without having eaten for days and frightened by the unfamiliar place;

Eliza had sought shelter in a cardboard box in an alley, but was attacked by a pack of Spearow who had their territory in that alley;

This is how the Dratini that received the name Eliza became one of Isabel's pokémon.

Perceus, the Steelix (male♂)

Move set: Stealth Rock, Gyro Ball, Dig, Flash Cannon, Iron Defense, Thunder Fang, Earthquake, Rock smash, Ice Fang, Confide

Ability: Sturdy (normal and mega evolution)

Isabel met Perceus when he was still an onyx who lived peacefully in a mountainous region in a pokémon reserve in the Kanto region along with some others of his kind;

Correction, there lived, therefore, some poachers attacked all the pokémons live in the mountainous area;

He had been attacked and badly wounded just like many of his group;

By Arceus's blessing, Isabel who was passing through the reserve and learning about wild Pokemon from Kanto with the reserve guards;

She was even helping with the patrol in a nearby area and came across the scene of poachers doing their evil deeds;

Isabel had promptly gone to the rescue of the pokémon fighting smuglers;

Arresting the evildoers, she went to the aid of the injured pokémon and treated them;

She provided first aid before receiving support from Officer Jenny and the reserve's forestry team to provide the necessary medical treatment;

After a few days, they were all recovered and ready to return to wild;

Well, there was one that hadn't gone away and when called by the pack he roared as if to say they were going their separate ways;

Perceus' companions understood that onyx wanted to stay with Isabel who was a little surprised before being challenged to a battle;

After an intense battle she managed to catch that onix and welcomed him on the team;

so i’m obsessed with this. and i know you were just going off about trichotomies >> dichotomies. but within every trio exists three duos so shut up okay

so aleth is moon coded, rough is sun coded. i think it would be a nice overlap (read: that once overlapping alliteration ur always going on about) if rough gets his energy from the moon, and aleth gets hers from the sun. this means aleth has to rely on ghost (star coded) to follow rough around (watsonian argument), and she sees more of tumble (TBD coded) than she does of rough. it also works because i think, if rough were out in the day for a long time, with very little time in the moon (/or when tumble is running the show*), he’s Super Mega Tired, and vice versa for aleth being out at night a bunch

*im not sure how it works with tumble pushing through. obviously it doesn’t happen much, but i can’t decide if rough is tired after (tumble was using the Not Body in the day for an extended time), or if he’s more awake after (Rough Specifically As Himself was not running around in the day)

i can’t decide if ghost is always or never tired. i’m leaning more toward never, since there are Always stars out, you just can’t see them in the day because of the sun. this maybe means you can make them a little flatter during the day, or maybe they’re better at tangibility when it’s a night with clear skies? like i said, not sure

anyway i think the most likely times for aleth and rough to overlap are sunset and sunrise, and i think it would be somewhat conducive if you brought those about on purpose - in scenarios where rough is pissed off and doing his thing, it’s sunrise because he’s just getting fired up? or sunset because he’s been up so long and is full to the brim with energy (/overstimulated)? and whichever it is, vice versa for aleth (probably depends on the mood you want in the first scene u write that calls for this, and that’ll just become the default lol)

I looked it up, coaching my sister on how to send me her save files for Radical Red. Wasn't as hard as I though it would be, once I fgured out what I was doing.

Palafin gets Parasitic Waste. It only can learn ONE poison type move: Toxic- a move that will miss often because Palafin is not poison type.

How fitting.

No clue about Zero to Hero, but Palafin-Hero gets Surge Surfer OR Galvanize.

Now, on to a few others I found while browsing through for the sake of curiosity.

I think it's hilarious that Bulbasaur gets Magma Armor.

Squirtle gets Plus, Wartortle gets Minus, and then Blastoise? Blastoise gets Swarm.

Should not be suprised- Mega Butterfree gets Steam Engine. You know, the bug pokemon very weak against fire? A maxed out speed stat will mean nothing the face of being fainted.

(But then, Weedle gets Pressure. Talk about a terrifying bug.)

The two Kubfu's she caught both have it's singular ability Chlorophyll. It's Dark-Type Evolution has Illuminate while it's Water-Type Evolution has Volt Absorb.

Mime Jr. (which she's been farming to Leppa Berries) has three possible abilities. Blaze, Dark Aura, or Merciless. It learns no fire type moves, and only two dark type moves; Quash, which only makes the opponent attack last. This is, of course, ignoring the TMs... of which only bug bite (I think?) and Thief have been obtained. Also, Mime Jr. learns no poison type moves.

Lapras, intrestingly, can have either Fur Coat or Dragon's Maw. Seeing as it's a Water Dragon in this game, that second one fits. But where is Lapras getting fur in all its swimming? Also, its mega evolution's ability is blaze, of which it learns two fire type moves: fire fang and fire blast.

Eevee was fun to try and navigate while on my phone. Natural Cure or Water Absorb. 3 of its 8 possible evolutions has Parental Bond as a possible ability. Leafeon has Download, Super Luck, or Toxic Chain as its possible abilities, and Glaceon is coming in hot with Fatal Precision and the ability to learn an offensive move of every type except Dragon.

Omanyte now levitates like fucking cthulhu. Its evolution now leaves spores behind when hit, or bedazzles its enemies when at full health.

Snorlax is, as always, obilvious. Or really, really focused.

Each of the Bird Trio's galar forms have Marvel Scale except Moltres, which is a Receiver. Also, Regular Moltres has Water Veil, which prevents burns. Um... Does that mean that Moltres' flames have now been put out?

Mewtwo is either showing its truancy or being pretty scrappy. Mewtwo-X is bad company all around, and Mewtwo-Y has obtained a fur coat.

Hisui Typhlosion either is preventing his teammates from falling asleep, or he's preventing enemies from running away. Which is fine, because his regular form is firmly anchored to whatever it grips, or is self sufficient enough to regain lost health at the end of a turn.

Pichu, aborable little baby that it is, is the vessel of ruins.

Misdreavus is the new wind rider. (which, incidentally, happens to also be a song I'm listening to at the moment). Mismagius is bulletproof, which, as a ghost, I thought they already were.

Each of the unknowns have a different ability, hidden ability, and move set, and I can't tell which is which since they all share the A icon. I'm going to tell my sister to catch them all and let me know.

Fortress is probably going to be my sister's best bet at trying to stay alive. it's 4x weakness to fire (it's only real weakness) is irrelevant since it's primary ability is that it is in possession of a Well-baked Body. (That or a very strong jaw, but seeing as I don't think Fortress even has jaws...) Actually, now that I'm thinking about it, i think she already has a Pineco.

The weird electric Mantyke's evolution- Mantine- makes all abilities pointless while its on the field with its Neutralize Gas.

I don't want to know what Miltak's suction cups are. I don't want to know.

Blissy having the Sturdy ablility just seems like overkill at this point.

Mega Gallade is comatose. Not sure how, but he is.

Shedninja is Simple. Simple as that. Meanwhile, Ninjask has quick feet if you tell me where they are.

Aggron obtains liquid voice, but can learn only one sound-based move without the use of TMs (Uproar).

Minum can have Victory Star as its ability.

I don't want to know what Swalot's sweet veil is. I really don't.

Sun and Moon, respectivly, have either Cloud Nine or Compound Eyes.

Whiscash either has As One (Unnerve + Moxie) or it is the new Supreme Overlord of all and all should bow down before the combined might of their fallen allies. Barboach, on the other hand, either has Fatal Precision or As One (Unnerve + Grim Neigh).

Shinx has Super Luck, which turns into Sniper, which turns into Regenerator with each of its evolutions.

Rampardos is either fluffy or has a grass pelt.

Sun Cherrim has Bone Zone, of which it does not learn any moves to take advantage of this.

Honchkrow has a body made of ice or is a defeatist.

Riolu takes a bit to get going, but that's fine because Lucario eventually figures out how to switch out when below half health. Mega Lucario, however, gets stat bonuses when in the sunlight.

Hoppowdon is a mummy.

Froslass is either super lucky or a jojo meme.

Fan Rotom possess a feline prowess.

Regigias is either unburdened when it looses an item, or it is steadfast when flinching.

Darkrai is now much more intresting with its ability being Protean.

Each Arceus has a different abliity, but I find it hilarious that Poison Arceus has Defeatist while Ghost has Scrappy.

Sweet Victory Victini? Plus.

Since when was there a Mega Audino? It's steakout ability seems fun to mess with.

Cottonee goes from having to Dark Aura to a Fairy Aura with evolution. (Or a steely Spirit to a Parental Bond).

Resolute Keldeo is either comatose or Steadfast.

Poor Meloetta is a mummy.

I love the implications of an ability shuffle in Radical Red.

It involves a certain pokemon that my sister just caught, and lovingly nicknamed 'Dolapin'. She adores it.

"You know, like dolphin, but sounded out. Dol-A-fin".

If you haven't figured it out, she just caught a Finizen (in Diglett cave, no less). Anyone who knows Finizen and it's evolution know where I'm going with this.

HOWEVER!

This is with randomized ablities turned on. Dolapin has the ablity Toxic Boost.

She hasn't reached being able to level pokemon up to level 38, but I look forwards to her blowing up my phone with texts over the seemingly unchanged evolution.

If her Palafin doesn't get the ability 'Zero to Hero' upon evolution, then... does that mean it won't transform when she swaps pokemon in the middle of battle? Because it's the ability that lets it change forms in battle.

My sister hasn't ever seen Palafin's change, even back when I was running Violet with her hovering over my shoulder (mostly because I never got a Palafin... being the only one I know to play Pokemon Games sucks). She doesn't know, and I am over here just brimming with energy to hear her confusion.

BUT!

If she finds a pokemon with the ability 'Zero to Hero' that isn't Palafin... will that pokenon change into Palafin's Hero Form when the conditions are otherwise met?
