errrm I canât get into the habit of posting bits and short drabbles about ocs unless I actually start. and try. hitting my head with a brick. let me just do a list first
Camilla. Based on the fact Cooking Cat seems to have a canon tv show, Cam is one of the mafia housewives and CCïżœïżœïżœs camera guy. Has long blond hair.
Her ex husband works the bar at the top of mafia island. Out of all the mafia, he was level headed enough to know it was only right to get a proper divorce before he left. Him and Cam were equally rational as they were strong. Cam used to work in moving crates for storage which really built her muscles over the years. Cam canât cook for squat, but her and CC both enjoy the same taste in seafood.
Bugsy. A robot with a triangular flat screen for a face and antennas poking out at the top. Sheâs a giant mech for bugs. So regular person sized. An agent that works for Tim.
The bug in charge of speech/negotiation is a mosquito named Silver. She majored in speech communication concentration. At bug school. A ladybug named Tilly is in charge of research and providing Silver intel. The bug controlling movement is a butterfly, Accro. She however frequently goes off plan and disobeys orders, so the beetle mechanic Edna has the ability to override Accroâs control and take over for the team when needed.
Mika. The microphone guy and other mafia housewife that works for Cooking Cat. Has short red hair, and cat eye glasses.
Mika doesnât know what her husband is up to, and does not feel curious about it. There was a popular band that played in the mafia's original home, and Mika was their sound editor when they sold CDs. Mika felt that she rushed into her relationship and marriage. She could never talk to him about her interests in music, after she found out he feigned interest in order to try and impress her, it just fell apart. CC really likes the jingles Mika comes up with for the show, and it makes Mika proud to be making her sound something broadcasted so widely.
#going to be braver abt being in the main tag so pwease excuse me.. ahit ocs being deployed#a hat in time#I wanna see more mafia housewife ocs⊠being the change I need#gil writings tag#Camera girlguy#super robot buggy team#mikrophone#those are there tags for the index. which might change

Posting A Few More W's
Oh hey folks! The site's not dead at all, don't worry. It's just that I have accumulated so many GB cartridges now that my current decorated storage boxes are full- and I'm still in the process of painting a new one to start hoarding more. Mine's an organized collection, mind you U_U
Nevertheless I've been playing a lot elsewhere, mainly on the Switch because I realized I have one at home I mean, its library of graphic adventures has plenty of interesting titles, but also on several other consoles as me and my brother currently have a knack for platforming adventures. We're especially looking at some 3d explore-and-collect titles released during the early 2000s on consoles we never had the occasion to try at the time: GameCube, PS2, the original Xbox. I feel like this was a generation I completely missed, as when Nintendo's cube came out I could only read about it on magazines while I played my GBA (still very loved of course!) and its Sony and Microsoft rivals were pretty much unreachable for me (I doubt I was even aware of the Xbox's existence at the time, incredibly).
Anyway, wanna know what's the best thing about these 3D platformers? They all have a screen displaying your progress and all available collectibles, something that pushes players to go for a 100% complete run (which is one of the things I love the most about games- pretty sure the PokĂšdex started this obsession of mine) and that's very easy to take a snapshot of, in order to show off the completed mission. So here's a gallery of our completed games! This is a spiritual sequel to my post about personal gaming achievements, as I feel seeing these screens is an achievement of its own.
Vexx
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/4d23d39366145678a12bf28251c535be/519044950d42604e-04/s540x810/4fc1af28e418bce100a152015ce2196c0e68ac85.jpg)
Vexx is a game with a very odd charm to it. My brother hates it and I partly agree with his distaste: it's flawed, oftentimes buggy, most of the difficulty is due to its unpolished controls. However I feel it also oozes with style, tries to paint a bigger picture than what's shown ingame and it's clear there was a special passion put into it, the developer team wanted to impress. I like the edgy protagonist and his design; I remember looking at a few dedicated advertisements and being very curious about it. Nevertheless, I admit taking this game to full completion was quite a pain! I'm proud of this screencap.
Super Mario Sunshine
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/87d918023651968ffb093e05fc56e8a1/519044950d42604e-91/s540x810/4cc1637bf44897111ed0ad461d160c16ea046929.jpg)
This title is a white whale for many players, since like half of the planet forgot the GameCube existed and now it racks up thousands on the secondhand market. I've always wanted to play Sunshine, it's the only 3D Mario chapter I was still missing and the reason why I was so very tempted to get 3D All Stars, yet I knew the Switch's emulation of the Cube was subpar. So we emulated it elsewhere. :V This game is so short! Everyone treats it like a gem and the general hype and mystique surrounding it might have elevated my expectations too much. Nevertheless we had fun, but less than what reviews promised us and if we have to choose, we'd still go for Galaxy over this.
The Incredible Machine
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/3b1900e475f3ef0929b4a87151ce5d2b/519044950d42604e-82/s540x810/f139d3f63589609f22d00768e98a9035ad83bc1e.jpg)
Oops, here's the odd one out of the list. :P Me and TIM go way back, I already talked about this game in one of my earliest story posts and it still bears an important heritage in my childhood; however, I could never finish it back in the day! The later puzzles were too complex for kid me and my english was still extremely unripe to understand what I had to do in the stages. Seeing this screen would make younger me very proud!
Ty The Tasmanian Tiger
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/bab311c45844c4a8d1b0c219936228d2/519044950d42604e-08/s540x810/0e8b1276fb08bc944632928884aff83d08bdbd5f.jpg)
If there was a class for mid 2000s abrasive platform mascots, Ty would have graduated with pomp and circumstance. This game follows every aspect of that trope to a⊠Ty. Antropomorphism, unusual species, comparative and aggressive advertising, catchphrases, characters trying to crack jokes every single time, an evil clone, the bad guy using robotics for end level bosses, big levels with lots of secret areas and tons of collectibles. Granted, not everything listed here is a bad thing: I appreciated the representation of australian fauna and enviroinments, also big levels and many collectibles were exactly what we were looking for when me and my brother started scouting for games to play. But there's also a huge level of unpolishness to it, like we played a beta of the game: it got too easy too fast with one of the boomerang powerups being an infinite machine gun and the other a literal nuke who automatically eliminated enemies (not that they were a threat before- we never got a game over); other boomerangs were barely employed in puzzles and game mechanics; transitions were nonexistent making cutscenes and level warps end abruptly; the sound design was especially lacking; the fire particles were absurd and we couldn't understand where it began and where it ended; similarly, the lacking shading on many platforms made jumps difficult. We got into a disagreement because I feel like this game should rank worse than Vexx while my brother swears it's Vexx still being inferior to this. We can't come to a conclusion on that. Anyway, this is as far as we can manage to go with Ty; the game is 100% complete with all collectibles except, sigh, five concept art collectibles out of 250. We literally combed all levels three times for them and like Dark Helmet's subordinates we ain't found shit. Also 250 concept art pieces? It really shows the game didn't fill up even a quarter of the disk (we were impressed on how short it was). If you're wondering why the screen's in german, my brother got quickly tired of the australian voice accent and wanted to hear all the other dubs. XD Are we gonna play the sequels? Fuck no!
I may get back to this post for the rest of the summer if we manage to take a picture of another completed collectathon! Otherwise, I'll make another in the future!

Friday Special #9
January 30th, 2021
So I was digging through my bag of DS and GBA titles, and noted that one of them was a Game Boy Advance VIDEO cartridge that contained the first two episodes of Sonic X. Popped it into my DS to relive some nostalgia and it occurred to me that there isnât anything like this anymore besides those PSP UMD VIDEO disks that had whole movies on them.Â
So where did they come from and how did they come to be?
For this weekâs Friday Special, weâre gonna find out.Â
For a little backstory, the Game Boy Advance handheld console was released back in 2001 and it was marketed as the successor of the Game Boy Color. With its resolution of 240 x 160 pixels (which was a lot at the time), 15-bit RGB Color Support (it was capable of producing 512 colors in character mode and 32,768 simultaneous colors in bitmap mode), and Dual 8-bit DAC for stereo sound, it was a fascinating machine and a work of technical art. It was super successful world-wide and garnered millions in sales.Â
So what exactly were the Game Boy Advance Video titles?
The Game Boy Advance Video cartridges were a special class of cartridges where based on the amount of memory, it featured one to four episodes of popular shows of the time like those from Cartoon Network and Nicktoons.Â

Although the first of the GamePaks (the other name that they went by) started to appear in 2004, the original name was GBA-TV a year earlier. The first cartridges to be released in May of 2004 were when Majesco was able to acquire rights for 4Kids properties such as Sonic X and Yu-Gi-Oh! for the earliest released titles. Later in June, select shows from Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, Nick Jr., and Funimation were added to the line-up when Majesco acquired the rights. The Disney Channel soon was added as well late in November of that year, creating even more cartridges for the roster. That next November in 2005 was the time for when Majesco was able to acquire the rights for Shrek, Shrek 2, and Shark Tale from Dreamworks, where for the first time, the Game Boy Advance Video series would now feature full-length movies, which was a marvel at the time due to the Game Boy Advanceâs limited memory.Â
In total, 36 cartridges were made in the entire line-up with more slated for released but were cancelled for various reasons, whether they be because of low sales of previous cartridges or copyright issues.
Here is the complete list of cancelled games:
Drake & Josh vol. 1
"Pilot"
"Dune Buggy"
Even Stevens vol. 1
"Swap.com"
"Stevens Genes"
Kirby: Right Back at Ya!
Ugly Betty vol. 1
"Pilot
"The Box and the Bunny
Sonic X vol. 2
"Missile Wrist Rampage"
"Chaos Emerald Chaos"
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles vol. 2
Yu-Gi-Oh! vol. 2
Speaking of copyright, there is a reason that the GamePaks were only viewable on Game Boy Advance systems as well as the first two DS systems but not the GameCube's Game Boy Player accessory. It was because the owners asked Majesco to make it so that making the games incompatible with the GameCubeâs GBA Player would protect their properties from getting ripped onto VHS tapes and DVDs, which was what the Player was capable of doing. It would not have mattered however, because the low quality would have shown on the TV, making the ripping process useless.Â
The low quality of the cartridges were due to the heavy compression of files in order for them to fit on a GBA cartridge, causing noticeable artifacts on the screen, even more visibly on a later system like a DS console. The low quality was the biggest disadvantage for the Game Boy Video cartridges as they eventually became obsolete by the late 2000s/ early 2010s when the DSi was released with no backward capabilities.
Despite them being obsolete by todayâs standards, they can still be found online on shopping sites like eBay and depending on the condition can go for a pretty penny. The rarest one in the entire roster is the cartridge for Super Robot Monkey Team Hyperforce Go! vol. 1 as only a limited number of copies were made and are now so rare that they can fetch almost $200 on eBay, where that is the only shopping site to even have them for listings.Â
It should be mentioned that around the same time, Sony was releasing PSP UMD (Universal Media Disc) Video disks for their PSP systems that were capable of playing whole movies, but thatâs an article for another time.Â
Thoughts From the Head
As stated above, I actually do have one of the Game Boy Advance Video cartridges in the form of Sonic X Vol. 1 that I had bought years ago at a local video game store. It still works, and although you can definitely see the age on a DS screen, itâs still super impressive how much they had to compress in order for the data to fit.Â
Itâs still a really neat piece of history and itâs something that wouldâve never happened in todayâs age of gaming with everyone being as tight-lipped about copyright to the point of it being detrimental to creativity. That being said, if you have a GBA, its succeeding systems or the first two DS systems, Iâd say to track them down while you can, especially if your favorite show is on the list (unfortunately, I have no hope of getting the Super Robot Monkey Team Hyperforce Go! vol. 1 cartridge as that is like trying to find an ant in a haystack but I have the Sonic X one and thatâs good enough for me).Â
Hereâs some photos of mine!
So do yâall think about all of this? Share your thoughts in the comments!
Thank you for reading!

RISE cross over 2012TMNT (2/3)
In this part, when I say the fill name of the turtle, it means the 2012 version and not the Rise. Hope youâll enjoys it.
Everyone looks at you with wide eye. Well everyone, but Mickey who had star in is eye. You finally stood up and look around.
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â How is it even possible! How can someone can go to another dimension!
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Well I donât know Donatello, I think Leoâs had another portal jacked incident. Although last time, they boys was send to Tahiti not ANOTHER DIMENSION.
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Wait your Leo can create portal! Wow he is way cooler than you. Said Raph with a smirk on his face. Looking at Leonardo.
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Not really, it is because of the mystique sword the Ćdachi sword.
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Did you just said mystique? Ask Donatello
Well everyone decides to sit down and listen to the conversation. You had to explain that your world had no Kraang but there was Yokai that seem to have taken their place. Also, that the foot was not made of paper but they were robot. You were confused but exited, why isnât the foot a robot, it would be so cool! You could see Donnie working in is lab on the robot scrap and Mickey freak out when he sees one moving in the lair.
Youâve notice that this dimension of Donatello was quite different from yours, he was more relaxe and social. He was also less sarcastic and confident about his intelligence and machine. It surprises you quite a bit. They were similar but also so different. Here is an exemple:
You walk into his lab and saw that it look more like a garage then a scientific lab. There was a weird green goo that you assume to be there world mutagen and he was siting at his table working on is computer.
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Hi Donatello
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Hey whatâs up?
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Just came to visit your lab. May I see your invention?
-         He⊠sure give me a sec.
He got up and open the garage door. Behind them there was some king of subway wagon with wheels. Your mouth open.
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Wow thatâs cool. Well not as much as the turtle tank but cool.
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â The turtle tank?
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Yeah the vehicle my Donnie build from the moon buggy and a taxi. Your invention is way more stealth then the tank that for sure. When you look from above it, it look like a giant turtle.
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Didnât you said they are ninjaâs?
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â I never said they were good ninja. Well they are not bad, but they need training on being stealth and stick to the shadows.
You giggle and he did too. His a nice guys and you enjoys his compagnie as much as your Donnie.
Now Rapheal, he is the most different of them all. If he didnât wear a red mask, you wouldnât have believe it was him. He was more angry and less protective and carring.
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â How can he lead a team with such a temper? You ask Leo.
Leo look at you with confused eye then he chuckle.
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Well he doesnât I am the leader.
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â WAIT WHAT!
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Yeah I am the leader.
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Does that mean that you are the oldest?
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Yes I am.
You didnât know at that moment, but Raph was listening to the all conversation in the background.
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Then Raph is in what place?
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â He is the second oldest. How is your turtle, I gess Raph is the oldest by your reaction.
-         Well yes he is the oldest, Leo and Donnie are twins also called the disaster twins and then there is Mickey who is the youngest. I believe Raph and Mickey have 2 year in differenceâŠ
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â WHAT!
You were interrupted by Raphael. He decided to join the conversation:
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â How is that even possible! Your version of me is the leader and the oldest by that much! They werenât mutated at the same time or what!?
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â I donât know Raph, they didnât tell me why he is the oldest. Altho knowing my splinter, probably because he was the biggest.
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â What does that even mean!!
He push the wall and walk away. He didnât like to hear about him from your dimension like he was the perfect version of himself. But you never said that. You could find point where he was âbetterâ then yours. He was a better fighter and he was more focus, when he wasnât angry. He also looks more relaxed. Although you still didnât like how much more violent he was especially toward Mickey. Every time you saw him hit his brother, you would get angry at him and even hit him in return with a pillow since you didnât want to hurt them. Witch didnât help you create a good relationship with the red turtle. He was also a bit intimidating to you, but you didnât tell anyone and it seem like anyone notice.
You know who you werenât scared at all: Mickey. He was pretty much like yours but he was less sensitive and he did a LOT of bad prank to his brother and at you. He looks kind of similar to your Leo. You were sure they would get along pretty well. You also notice that he was also clumsier and lonelier than your friend. It broke your heart. How can this little sunshine look so lonely half the time! He became your best friend from this place very quickly.
A little later, you met April and Casey. When they were told you where from another dimension they both look excited.
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â That cool! If there is other version of the boys, is there other version of us? Ask April will sending a look to Casey.
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Well yes.
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Can you tell me more about my other self? Ask April as she sits on the coach and inviting you to join her.
-         Alright where do I begin? Well she is African AmericanâŠ
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â What really? Said Donatello from his lab.
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Yeah and she well she is awesome, she infiltrated the foot more then once, she can fight in comparation of me and she super smart. My Donatello and April are best friend for quite a long time. I donât know the detail. She is a big fan of Jupiter Jim like the boys and I and she wear glass.
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Wow she is a kinoichi like me.
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Well no, she uses a baseball bat to fight and her instinct.
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â How about me? How do I look in your universe?
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â It I a dimension and I donât know any Casey.
Casey was hurt, you and April couldnât resist but laugh at this. You also notice at that moment that Donatello had a crush on April. You thought it was cute at first, but got a bit angry by the way she treated him.
You didnât like Casey that much ether, he reminded you a lot about the recruit in the foot clan and of Raphael so it didnât make a good mix in your book. You didnât hate him obviously but well you would ratter be with Mickey and Ice cream kitty then being with him and April.
Letâs talk about Leonardo, he is so different then yours! He is calm, respectful, look like he is good at everything but cooking and serious. It was off putting, the fact he was so⊠so different. He was the most different of his brother. he was a good leader, probably better than Raph, but it seems like he was most of the time, just the leader not the big brother. He needed to learn how to relaxed and have fun, you tried but failed. The only time you see your Leo in him was when he was arguing with Raph and when he was watching space heroes.
You were also quite surprise by there splinter, he was so tall and in good chape! He didnât lay down all day watching tv and eating hot soup. He was also a human once but he never was a acter witch made everyone laugh and Raph even said:
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â That explain why your turtle are so mediocre
Master Splinter did something to him and he apologise. It looks painful but he had it coming. Never make fun of your friend. You also notice that he really was more a sensei to the boys then a father. Even the ways he acts seem a little cold in your eye sometime. They never called him father. You field sadness growing in your chest knowing that they mite not have had a father figure but a sensei figure instead. At least, your Splinter was a father and a sensei figure to them. You also notice they ate a lot of pizza, for the past three days, you always ate pizza for diner would it be home made or from some restaurant.
It is on the 3e day that another blue cercle appeared in the leaving room.
To be continuedâŠ

CHAPTER THREE - THE AFTERPARTY
LEGACY: A Tony Stark Daughter Story
MASTERLIST
< previous
Word Length: 1,800ishÂ
Summary: Ultron makes an appearance at the Teamâs afterparty.
Soon the guests had all left and it was just the Team, Rhodey, Maria, Helen Cho, and I sitting around a coffee table. Everyone had a drink in hand and Thorâs hammer was sitting on top of the table.Â
âBut itâs a trick.â Clint stated, talking about lifting Thorâs hammer.
âOh, no,â Thor started, âItâs much more than that.â
âUh, whosoever be he worthy shall haveth the power!â Clint tried to mock the voice of, well, I donât even know. Maybe Thor? âWhatever man! Itâs a trick.âÂ
âPlease be my guest,â Thor said as he pointing to the hammer.
âCome on,â Tony urged, trying to get Clint to give it a shot.
âReally?â Clint questioned.
âYeah!â Thor said. Clint stood up and started making his way towards the hammer.
âOh, this is gonna be beautiful,â Rhodey quietly commented.
I smirked. âShould I be recording this?â I quietly asked Rhodey. He gave a small chuckle.
âClint, youâve had a tough week, we wonât hold it against you if you canât get it up.â Tony teased. The rest of us laughed.
âYou know Iâve seen this before, right?â Clint reminded Thor. Clint grabbed onto the hammer and failed to lift it. âI still donât know how you do it.â
âSmell the silent judgement?â Tony continued to tease.
âPlease, Stark,â Clint said, motioning to the hammer, âBy all means.â Tony stood up and unbuttoned his suit jacket.Â
âOh, no.â I put my hand to my face and shook my head.
âHere we go.â Nat said.
âNever one to shrink from an honest challenge.â Tony said nudging Clint to the side with his shoulder. Tony slipped his hand threw the leather strap at the end of the handle. âItâs physics.â
âPhysics!â Bruce repeated.
âRight, so, if I lift it, I.. I then rule Asgard?â Asked Tony.
âYes, of course.â Thor answered.
âBailey, start packing your bags.â Tony said.Â
âOkay,â I sarcastically replied. âWhatever you say, Dad.â
âI will be re-instituting Prima Nocta.â Tony said.
âDad, no!â
Tony smirked. He grunted as tried to lift the hammer. It didnât budge. âIâll be right back.â He jogged off and quickly came back with an Iron Man gauntlet on.Â
He tried to lift the hammer again and failed. Rhodey then got up and put on a War Machine gauntlet.Â
âAre you even pulling?â Rhodey asked, as they were trying together.
âAre you on my team?â Tony shot back.
âJust represent! Pull!âÂ
âAlright, letâs go!â They both tried and failed.Â
Bruce then got up and tried to lift it. He roared as if he was trying to change into the Hulk but failed. Nat grinned while the rest of us looked at him like heâs crazy. Steve then stood up to try, rolling up his sleeves on his way.Â
âLetâs go, Steve,â Tony cheers, âNo pressure.â
âCome on, Cap.â Rhodey joined in.
âYou got this Steve!â I joined in.
Steve started to pull on the hammer. It moved a bit and I saw Thorâs smug face quickly turn down into a frown. Steve tried again but failed. Iâm pretty sure that he could lift it if he wanted to. Heâs Captain America for crying out loud! I think he was just sparing Thorâs feelings.Â
âNothing.â Thor chuckled in relief.Â
âWidow?â Bruce looked at Nat.
âOh, no no.â She replied. âThatâs not a question I need answered.âÂ
âBailey?â Steve asked, leaning into his hand.Â
âSame here,â I answered. âI could care less about picking up the hammer.â
âAll deference to the man who wouldnât be king, but itâs rigged.â Tony stated.
âYou bet your ass.â Clint said, hitting Tonyâs back on his way to get another beer.Â
âSteve, he said a bad language word.â Maria said.
âDid you tell everyone about that?â Steve asked Tony.Â
âI wasnât told about it,â I said, giving Steve a friendly smile.Â
Tony ignored Steve and Iâs comments. âThe handleâs imprinted, right? Like a security code. Whosoever is carrying Thorâs fingerprints is, I think, the literal translation?â
âYes.â Thor said, as he stood up. âwell thatâs, uh, thatâs a very, very interesting theory. I have a simpler one.â He picked up the hammer and started to toss it. âYouâre all not worthy.âÂ
âBoo.â We all yelled.
Then a loud screeching noise starts to pierce our ears. We all wince and I quickly cover my ears. As it faded, Tony pulled out his phone to see what could be causing it. Slow metal footsteps echoed throughout the room before a robotic voice spoke.
âWorthyâŠâ It began. âNo⊠How could you be worthy? Youâre all killers.â
We all stood up and turned towards the voice. It looked like it was coming from a wrecked Iron Legion suit. I back upped so that I was closer to Steve.
âStark,â Steve sternly said.
âJARVIS,â Tony called, trying to get the AIâs attention.
âIâm sorry, I was asleep.â The voice said. âOr.. I was a dream.âÂ
Tony was tapping at his device. âReboot, Legionnaire OS, we got a buggy suit.â
âThere was this terrible noiseâŠâ The voice continued. âand I was tangled in.. in.. strings. I had to kill the other guy. He was a good guy.â
âYou killed someone?â Steve asked, stepping in front of me protectively.
âWouldnât have been my first call.â The voice was definitely coming from the suit. âBut, down in the real world weâre faced with ugly choices.â
âWho sent you?â Thor asked.
âI see a suit of armor around the world.â Tonyâs voice echoed through the speakers around us.Â
I quickly looked over at Tony, he wasnât giving anything away to me. âDad?â I questioned.
âUltron.â Bruce said. Tony and Bruce shared a worried glance.Â
âIn the flesh,â The suit said. âOr, no, not yet. Not this chrysalis. But Iâm ready. Iâm on a mission.â Thor gripped his hammer as Maria pulled out a gun from her thigh.
âWhat mission?â Nat asked.
âPeace in our time.â Ultron answered.
Suddenly, the other Iron Legion suits came breaking through the walls and started attacking us.Â
Steve quickly grabbed me and flipped over the coffee table to block some of the incoming suits. But as he did that, two suits hit the table and we went flying back.Â
Maria started shooting and Thor began hitting the suits with his hammer. Steve and I looked at each other. He gently put his hand on my forehead and wiped off some blood. He looked down at his hand and then back up to me.
âI was going to ask if you were okay,â he said. âBut it seems youâve already healed yourself.â
âYeah,â I pushed myself off the ground. âItâs a great trick.â
I stood up and quickly looked around. Nat had rushed Bruce to the other side of the bar, probably trying to keep him from turning green. I looked the other way to see that Tony and Rhodey were trying to head for their own suits, but were stopped by some Iron Legion suits. Rhodey was thrown through the glass floor and down to the next level.
âRhodey!â Maria yelled, as she shot at a suit.
I quickly started running for one of the suits. Iâve been around them long enough, plus helped designed them, to know their weaknesses. I jumped over Clint as he slid under a table and into the book shelf.
I leapt onto the back of the suit and tore its head off. It fell and I quickly tore its reactor out. I turned around a took another two suits out before one grabbed me by the neck, choking me. I tried to get loose, but nothing was working. It chucked me and I flew threw the window, landing outside on the balcony.Â
âBailey!â I heard multiple voices shout.Â
I looked up to see the chaos that was still happening inside. Tony grabbing a fondue stick and running up the stairs.Â
Thor and Steve stopping a suit from attacking Helen Cho.Â
Then Tony leaping from the top of the stairs and onto a flying suit, trying to stop it with the fondue stick he had grabbed.Â
âStark!â Steve yelled out, asking the man to do something with his tone.
âOne sec, one sec!â Tony yelled back, still flying around on the back of a rouge suit.
I slowly pushed myself up and brushed off the glass. Running back inside, I aimed for the Iron Legions main control room, only to be stopped by the Ultron bot himself. I tried to get out of his grip but, for some reason, the robot was stronger than my super strength.Â
âYouâre a special one, arenât you?â Ultron said. âThe files on you are⊠interesting.â
âLet me go!â I yelled, trying to fight him.
âIâm one of the few whoâs read them all the way through⊠InterestingâŠâ The suit continued. âThere are secrets in them, both HYDRA and SHIELD. Things youâll want to know. And I can tell you them.â
âCap!â I heard Clint yell. I glanced over my shoulder to see Clint throw Steve his shield and Steve dismember the last Iron Legion. No one had noticed that Ultron was holding onto me yet.Â
âThat was dramatic,â Ultron stated, watching what just unfolded. âIâm sorry, I know you mean well. You just didnât think it through.â The bot shook its head. âYou want to protect the world, but you donât want it to change. How is humanity saved if itâs not allowed to⊠evolve?â The suits eyes looked right into mine.
âLet her go,â Tony said, anger and worry laced his voice as he sat, worn out and tense, on the stairs.Â
âDonât worry. I wonât hurt her. Sheâs meant for bigger and better things.â The suits hand pushed some stray hair out of my face. I tried to step away, but it just pulled me closer to it. âIt would be a shame for her to go to waste.â The suit looked back up to the Avengers that were standing around the room. âThereâs only one path to peace: the Avengersâ extinction.â Thor suddenly threw his hammer at Ultron and smashed him to pieces. The grip he had on me was gone and I quickly held onto the wrist that he had grabbed. It stung a little, but I could feel it healing. Though the body destroyed, Ultron sung. âI had strings, but now Iâm free.â

Cradle Grove
Summary: Sprx, Otto, Nova and the birth of their children. A/N: Look, sometimes when your dealing with a bout of depression and being overworked at your job, you cope by writing fluff about your OT3 having children. And at this point the Spottova twins AU is my default for when I need fluff. Warnings for depiction of pregnancy and birth.Â
Nova paced along her bedroom floor. Â
She switched to it after spending the last fifteen minutes tossing and turning and ultimately being unsuccessful in finding a way to be comfortable in bed. Â
Otto and Sprx were still in their bed, looking at her worryingly from their piles of blankets and pillows. âYou sure you donât want to try resting again?â Otto asked, as Sprx nodded his head in agreement. Â
Nova shook her head as she kept her pace. âNah, I donât want to sit down. Moving is at least a bit more comfortable.â She winced and rubbed her belly.
The kids kicking up a storm again?â Sprx asked, his tone far more relax than his tense posture suggested. Â
Otto wasnât as bad, but he looked just as ready to grab her and bolt to the med bay any moment. âOr are you having one of those âpracticeâ contractions again?âÂ
âKind of a bit of both,â She rubbed again at her bulging belly, âTheyâre not exactly kicking, but itâs so cramped that any bit of movement is gonna hit me,â She looked down at her big belly, which really wasnât that big. It was obvious that she gained weight, but the bump was rather moderate considering that carried twins. Or at least that was how it seemed compared to humans, who often looked like they stuck a ball under their shirt, even when carrying just one baby Â
Really, humans made pregnancy way more complicated then it needed to be. Nova didnât even have to deal with morning sickness! Made Nova glad she was a monkey. Â
And being a monkey, she wanted fresh air and trees. Â
âIâm going for a walk,â She said turning towards their bedroom door, âYou guys want to come with me?â
Sprx rolled his eyes as he hopped out of bed âLike you have to ask.â Â
âWant to go to the usual place?â Otto added as he followed. âI got the buggy all ready.â Â
It had been like this the past few nights, resorting to night-time walks when she couldnât sleep. Her mates adjusted accordingly, with Otto happy to use his specially-made, non-moon buggy as a means of transport for them to get past the city limits. Â
Nova also knew that they had an emergency bag in the vehicle, just in case they needed in while they were out. Â
The buggy had been âtheirsâ long before these night trips began, not exclusive to the rest of the team but used by them enough that their scent permeated the vehicle. Like most of Ottoâs buggies, the top was a convertible and open now, allowing Nova to feel the wind as Sprx drove. She breathed deep, taking in the mixed scents of her mates and the night air. Her stomach still twitched with movement, a low throbbing of what she couldnât even call pain, not yet though it will get there, and easily ignored as she arched into the breeze and enjoyed the open sky. Â
The first night it took her a while to finally figure out where she wanted to go, but in hindsight it was so obvious. Â It was the outskirts, the forested area where once upon a time Chiro found the Super Robot. Â
Without the Super Robot, which stayed at its docking station in Shuggazoom, the areas was an unassuming forested area with an indent in the grass that still marked where the Super Robot once stood. It was weird to think that for years they were sleeping here while the rest of Shuggazoom continued to thrive in their absence.
Once the buggy slowed down, before Sprx even got it to completely stop, Nova leaped out, followed by a concerned Otto as Sprx finished parking. Â
Nova took a moment to feel the grass and dirt between her toes, the smell of the earth, and the sight of the night sky between the canopies of leaves. Maybe that is why she gravitated towards here. A primal, instinctive part of her wanted to return to the area of her origin. The Alchemistâs lab was too far away and in too dangerous of a place. But here was where the Hyperforce under Mandarin ended and their family with Chiro began. Â
So it is fitting that here would be where the next stage of their family would begin. Â
Nova leaned against a tree, illuminated by the light of the full moon that shined through the foliage above, and groaned as the contractions began again. Â
Sprxâs head popped to attention from the driverâs seat in the buggy âYouâre in labor!â Â
âThen we need to get back to the Super Robot and get Gibson!â Otto was ready to jump back into the buggy, but Nova reached out, grabbing his wrist to stop him, though there was no way for her to also reach Sprx.
âNo, I want to give birth here, with just the three of us. We started this together so we can do this together!â Nova tinged with guilt as she saw how worried and scared they look. The original plan was for her to give birth in the Super Robot, with the rest of the team on standby, but it was only within the past couple of days she had begun feeling this urge to give birth here. Â
âBut what if-â Otto began, but she cut him off. Â
âI know youâre worried that something is going to go wrong, but weâre prepared for this. Weâve done our research and I know you guys have a kit in the buggy for this. If something does go wrong the rest of the team can get here quick, but everything my body is telling me that everything will be okay.â Â
âBut-â Her two mates begin at the same time, but the shaking of her head is enough to silence them. Â
âPlease, just trust me and my instincts.â Â
Otto looks over to Sprx, an entire conversation going between them with just their eyes. Then Sprx sided, jumping out of the buggy with their emergency bag in hand. âAlright, if this is what you want.â
âBut weâre getting the others at first sign of trouble,â Otto added, shifting so that he could hug her, the gentle grip of a hug he long since adapt so he wouldnât squish her belly. Â
Nova smiled, giving Otto a thankful nudge with her forehead. Then she winced, arching her back in his arms and moving her hands to try to press on her back.
âIs it really painful?â Otto asked, eyes wide as Sprx momentenly paused as he was going through their pack. Â
âNot really, itâs more of a pressure at this point. Not painful, more uncomfortable than anything.â Â
Sprx finished unpacking the last of the equipment and blankets (most of them hand-stitched by Otto when he went through this own ânestingâ period) before squeezing behind her and the tree she was leaning against. His hands began massaging the part of her back her hand tried to reach, kneading it like it was dough. âHowâs this?â Â
Nova moaned, this time out of relief. âIt feels wonderful.â With her hands now free, she gripped onto Otto, who weaved his arms around hers in turn. He rubbed his hands up and down her arms, worried about the chill in the air affecting her. Â
âIâm not actually that cold,â She admitted, despite the temperature of the night. But the contractions, as mild as they were now, kept her warm enough. âI am thirsty though.â Â
Otto nodded, and reached for the small cooler, one specifically built for this, from this pile of things. Among the research he and Sprx did in preparation for this was some tips taken from human deliveries, like the use of ice chips. He popped one into Novaâs mouth, who hummed as she sucked on it.
Are you also hungry?â They had some snacks and rations among their supplies, the former for taste and the latter more for dense nutrition content. Â
âNo,â Nova crunched and swallowed the last bit of the ice, then turned to give Sprx a smile even as she disrupted him. âAnd my backâs feeling fine now. I actually kind of want to walk for a bit.â Â
So she began pacing again, this time among the forest with her mates following her like ducklings. Sometimes the pressure would become too much again, so Sprx would resume his massage while Otto was always ready with the ice chips. In between, she began fussing with the spot in the grove by the tree, the area she choose to give birth at. She began arranging the towels they brought along into a nest of sorts, which Otto and Sprx helped her with. Then things would resume, with them alternating between walks, massages, and ice chips.
They stayed like that with only the moon and stars as company, until there was a change, the pressure actually giving way to pain as there was a shifting in her body. It was jarring enough to prompt a sudden hiss from her, which her mates reacted to as if she was screaming bloody murder.
âItâs fine, Iâm fine.â She looked down, where a trail of liquid flowed down her legs onto the towel nest, âBut it's time for me to push,â She settled into a squat, hand grabbing onto Ottoâs arms for support. Sprx was still behind her, his hands quickly finding their place on her back again, rubbing it tentatively at first before continuing once she didnât protest. Â
Now the pressure gave way to an urge to push and with it there was pain with each contraction. But Nova found that she didnât mind it, especially compared to what she had been through. It was more akin to the soreness of overstretched muscles after a workout, a kind of productive pain that would result in a new life.Â
It was far better than the pain she endured during the war. Â
So Nova pushed, moaning and then reassuring her boys that she was fine, this was normal and just when she buried most of their fears and worries, she dug them back up by letting out a sudden and loud gasp.
But this time she was smiling with eyes full of awe-struck stars. One of her hands let go of Ottoâs arms and reached behind as she exclaimed âI can feel the head.â
Sprx had been keeping his eyes target-locked on the back of Novaâs helmet, more focused on her breaths and sounds to really look down there. But now he did, and there was a tiny monkey head that she had maneuvered her hand to touch. Â
He would never admit it, but in truth Sprx was one of the more squeamish members of the team, probably only outdone by Gibson in that area (who still couldnât deal with bugs, even after all this time). He learned to work with it, since the Hyperforce had the unfortunate tendency to deal with disgusting things, and one technique was preparing. It was so much easier to deal with slime and goop when you anticipated. He and Otto educated themselves on what would happen during the birth, and while there were no cases of robot monkey births they compensated by watching whatever records of regular monkey births they could find.
But more than that was the unparalleled love and joy Sprx felt as he looked at the tiny head. Because here was the baby they spent so long preparing, waiting, and anticipating and now they were finally here. It was just like when they first saw the babies on the ultrasound, or felt them kicking for the first time. They knew, of course, that the babies were real but it was instances like these the reality of it washed over them again. Â
Sprx gathered his wits, pulling reluctantly away from taking in his childâs appearance, to grab one of the softest blankets and place his open arms under them. âIâll catch them.â Â
Nova receded her arm, returning her hold to Ottoâs as she grunted, bore down, and pushed, and then the little monkey slide into Sprxâs waiting hands. Â
Sprx still remembered the nightmare they had about the Alchemist and the lab they saw, with their baby selves in the tubs. But the baby monkey he was holding seemed so much smaller and delicate, being swallowed by the blanket as he tried to clean and warm her. Â
âOtto, come look at your daughter,â Sprx choked out through tearing eyes as he held the bundle. âSheâs amazing!â
âOur daughter,â Otto corrected, because even from looking over Novaâs shoulders he could see the little face poking out from her swaddle. As fine and thin as her hair was, it was still unmistakably green once cleaned.
(There was a fear, a lingering doubt that once the babies were born and their actual parentage deduced, that it disrupt the dynamics of their relationship.) Â
Otto reached for a hemostat to clamp down on the umbilical cord. âWanna cut the cord, Daddy?â Â
Sprx, eyes still specked with tears, nodded and then cut it, taking another moment to make sure the baby was still comfortable in her bundle. She fussed a bit, but quieted once she was swaddled up against his chest, her black button of eyes staring up at him. Â
âLet me see her,â Nova said, letting go of Otto so he could step out of the way for Sprx and taking his spot behind her. As excited as she was to meet her daughter, she reigned it in as she ever gently and carefully took her from Sprx. âLook at you! Weâve been waiting so long for you to join us!â She cooed as she peppered her forehead with kisses (and ignoring the urge to lick her clean â some instincts were better off not being followed).Â
Nova wanted to hold her daughter longer, but the twinge of another contraction reminded her that she wasnât done yet. âNow Daddyâs gonna hold you,â She handed the bundle to Sprx, groaning as she pushed. âAnd in a moment your brother or sister is going to join us.â
âYou got this Otto?â Sprx asked, seeing his green mate grabbing a blanket and positioning himself to catch the next baby.
âYeah, Iâll get the baby, I can even see the head!â He said, a bit too cheerful. It was a good thing Sprx and Nova were too busy with everything going on to pick up how forced his tone was, or how he was biting at his lips.
Were baby monkeys suppose to look so bloodied? There didnât seem to be an increase in blood and most of the fluids staying relatively clear. Everything else was going so well, and Nova did say to trust her and her instincts, and right now his instincts werenât screaming at him that something was wrong. So he stayed quiet as the younger twin fell into his awaiting blanket. He immediately began rubbing it clean, feeling better as she squeaked in protest at his movement, showing no problems with breathing or her heart.
âOh,â He immediately smiled, his voice full of genuine joy again as he also began tearing up, because everything was alright. âSprx, come and look at your daughter.â Because the baby monkey in his hands stayed red, no matter how much she was cleaned.
Sprx looked shocked at he saw his other daughter, but the he smiled and he kissed Ottoâs check as he managed a free hand to grab another hemostat to clamp off the cord like Otto did for him. âAnd now I think it is your turn to cut the cord, Daddy.â
Otto took his turn, and once they were disconnected, Nova fell to her knees among her nest of blankets, panting but smiling and being so happy. Her boys, as entrapped as they were in their newborn children, still remembered she was there. She didnât have to ask before they placed the twins in her arms, each one still so small despite the blankets they were wrapped in that she could easily hold one in each arm.
âMy girls, my beautiful girls,â She made sure her younger, red child was kissed just as much as her older twin had been. âItâs so good to finally meet you! Iâm your Mommy and these are you Daddies!â She smiled at her boys, a smile as bright as the sun that began raising over the horizon. âSee, I told you everything would be okay!â
Sprx chuckled as he sat next to her. âYeah, you were right!â
âAnd you were amazing!â Otto hugged her, being so careful about the babies in her arms. âThank you Nova!â
âAnd thank you, for staying by my side.â Nova closed her eyes, taking a moment to appreciate the babies in her arms, and the arms around her. She had her boys and her girls and all was right in the world
There were still things to do. The afterbirth would still need to be delivered and dealt with, and Nova would prefer to try to nurse the girls before they left to return to the Super Robot. And then there would be the rest of the team to introduce their new nieces to.
But for now, in that grove, the new family of five was simply content to take a moment to just be.

Spova Week: Future
A/N: So I didnât get this done in time for Spova Week because I was worried about my future, i.e. board exams. But I passed the first exam, so why donât we see what the future has in store for Sprx and Nova now? This also includes some head cannons I have for what I imagine post War of the Undead/Season Five would be like for the entire team as well.Â
âSo this is the gift from Quint?â Â
Sprx flicked the lights in the garage on, beaming with pride at the new ship among Ottoâs moon buggies. âYep, itâs a top of the line ST5-Starcarrier.â Â
Youâre going to have to jog my memory about what that means.â Â
âItâs not as maneuverable as a ZZ3X-Starspeeder, but it makes up for it with amenities and capacity. Quint figures that properly stocked it could support a small squad for a month before needing to dock. And it has a hyperdrive so it can do warp jumps if necessary.â Â
Nova looked over the ship. It was about three-fourth the size of a Foot Cruiser so it dwarfed the buggies that surrounded it and nearly hit the top of the garage. The wings and jets attached to it did give it a slick and aerodynamic look. âItâs not exactly what I would think of as a parting gift.â Â
âYeah, I told Quint he didnât owe us anything,â Sprx shook his head, âItâs not like we were expecting a reward when we rescued his crew the first time and coming to our aid more than made up for that anyway. But he insisted, saying that itâs the least he could do since he did also still us a neutron generator.â Â
âUh-huh,â Nova put her hands on her hip as she gave him a smirk. âI think he just used this as an excuse to give you a ship. He probably wants you to come visit him so you can keep swapping pilot stories.â Â
Sprx gave her smile in return as he ran his hand over the shipâs hull, stopping to wipe away a smudge. âHey, technically itâs the teamâs ship. Iâm just the driver for wherever we need to go.â Â
Well, he just gave her an opening for what she actually came to talk about. Nova took a deep breath. âWhat about Galaxia?â
âHm?â Sprx looked away from the ship to her. âSure, I could get the coordinates from the Robot and take you there if you want. Planning on visiting your master already?â
âMaster Offay mentioned that he was planning of having a tournament soon to celebrate the return of Galaxia. I figured I could participate and learn a thing or two from the other fighters.â Â
âOr you could teach them a thing or two.â Now it was his time to give her a smirk. âAlright, just clear it with the rest of the team and Iâll be your personal chauffer.â
âYou could go visit Quint afterwards.â
He snorted and rolled his eyes. âI doubt it. The tournament would probably take a couple weeks at least and with you gone I donât think the team would be fine with me also leaving.â
âActually, Chiro and Antauri already gave us a leave of absence.â
âYeah, see-what?â His mouth hung open as he stared at her.
Nova nodded and held his hands. âWell, how else are you going to break in the new ship? I figured we could start with three months off and go from there.â
âYouâre serious? But what about the team? What about protecting Shuggazoom?â
âShuggazoom does need protectors, but that doesnât mean it always has to be us. The Super Robot can pilot himself now and there are plenty of other heroes here to help out.â
Defeating the Skeleton King once and for all hadnât been the only outcome of their victory. The Dark One corruption that had tainted places like the jungles and Blasted Lands had been also dealt with. The end result was that there was suddenly a lot of land outside of Shuggazoom City suitable for civilization. Land that they had offered to their allies, especially the groups that had nowhere else to go.
The Robo-Apes were one of the groups who took up their offer, to Ottoâs delight. He quickly settled in to the group, offering his mechanical expertise for things from repairs to lessons. Being in such a setting seemed provide him with nonstop inspiration, resulting in the largest streak of inventions from him that the team had ever seen. Â
Alliana and the rest of the Arcadia survivors also settled down. Jinmay, who knew what it was like to be new to Shuggazoom, was always ready to help them out however she could. Just like how Otto endured himself to the Robo-Apes, so too did Jinmay become a beloved figure to the settlement. Â
Chiro helped out with both groups when he could, but often he was busy in Shuggazoom. It wasnât just that he was the hero of the city, but also an inspiration. He was an example of how any citizen could stand up to defend the city. So like how the monkeys had taught him how to be a hero all those years ago, he now taught the bright eyed youths of the city. It was weird seeing the student becoming the teacher, but Chiro thrived in the role. Â
And regarding teachers, Antauri found himself with some new students. The disciples of the Veran Mystics that had survived the destruction of their order had tracked him down and also set down roots in Shuggazoom. They sought a way to undo the corrupted teachings of the previous masters, so Antauri taught them. He had even considered the idea of reestablishing the order, or at least a successor of some sort to it. Â
And then there was Gibson, who was taking advantage of the untainted jungle to frequent the Alchemistâs old labs. He spent days going through his books, notes, and files. He even brought the spell book from among their battle trophies with him, intending on following their creatorâs lead in combining science and magic. Â
Everyone one else has their own plans and goals, something of their own to focus on that had nothing to do with being Hyperforce, except for Sprx. Maybe it was penance for his doubt that lead to the war, or maybe it was fear that if his dedication wavered for even a moment he would cause another. Whatever it was, the monkey that had once taken every opportunity to laze about now refused to take a break. Â
Well, Nova had a goal of her own. Â
âI know you want to go and explore the stars. So now you can.â Then she blushed, âAnd I want to be with my boyfriend. So I'd like to go with you...if youâll have me.â
She yelped as he picked her up and spun her around, which quickly became a laugh alongside his own. He put her down, holding her close as he nudged his forehead against hers. âHow did I ever get a girl as wonderful as you?â Â
âI believe you said something about being my personal chauffeur.â She said with a laugh. âI take it that is a yes?â Â
Sprx answered her with a kiss, surprising her but it was a good kind of surprise as she melted into the embrace. Â
âWhatever you want,â He said when they parted, a bit out of breath from the long kiss. âSo, Galaxia?â
âThat, and donât forget about seeing Quint. We have three months to begin with, and then we can request some more time if we want. You got any recommendations?â Â
She could just see his mind spinning, planning out an itinerary for their trip already and figuring out what other stops to include. Maybe they could go to that one stop with the Lugs again? They did have some cute plushies there that she wouldnât mind getting, though Sprx would probably insist on being the one to purchase them for her. Â
They would return to Shuggazoom, of course. It was their home and they would always be members of the Hyperforce, their family. But for now, it would just be him, her, and the stars.Â

Imagine The Tfp Botâs Realizing The Bases AI Is Sentient
imagine mentioned
Characters For Ask:
Tfp Optimus/Tfp Bulkhead/Tfp Ratchet
~
Optimus:
the only time Optimus ever spent with the bases AI were the times where he was decoding something, and they were either his audience or there to help, or the few times he managed to get Ratchet to actually take a break
whichever it was, while not necessarily a lot, it was enough for the Prime to feel some sort of friendship like bond with the computerized projection
he knew it was silly, it was sort of like how the kids had a friendship with those roomba robots, but he indulged the feelings anyways, because the world he lived in was harsh and even he needed to have a little fun every once and while
so Optimus would chat with them, nothing ever to serious, just light things like telling them about how he was proud of Raf for completing his gym's physical course, or how he thought the friendship between Arcee and Jack was such a great thing for the later, and had even let a few chuckles slip when talking about something particularly funny that Miko had done with Bulkhead
any time that he's talking with the AI, they've always just listened, given a couple nods, and a few times agree to his opinion on something in a monotone voice; a behavior that reminded Optimus that his friend was simply computer codes, perhaps intricate, but still codes nonetheless
after sometime it did start to make him feel a bit lonely, but he continued about anyways, till one day the AI had caught him humming, and with a curiosity that had gone over his helm, asked Optimus was he was doing
he explains it to them, humming, and they then ask what it is that he'd been humming, to which the Prime replies that it's a song he'd heard the children sing  during one of their sleepovers
the AI nods and ask if he'd like them to play it, but Optimus waves his servo with a no thank you, explaining that he wishes not to wake up his sleeping team
a few weeks go by, and the AI's odd behavior that night has eventually taken notice in Optimus processor
he's starts to wonder why he hadn't noticed right then, but is more concerned with why they'd ask something like they've asked before, but never out of curiosity, something that they should not be able to interpret
Optimus simmering questions are answered that night when he goes to hop on the monitors while his team rest, only to hear the faint sound of someone humming, and peeking around the corner ready to fight, his optics land the bright glow of the computer screens where the AI goes from humming to signing the song he'd told them about weeks prior
Bulkhead:
Bulkhead doesn't spend too much time at the bases computers, not only because that stuff isn't part of his field, but also because he's been banned after the spray paint party he had with Miko a few months back
still, the big bot does find himself chatting with the bases AI, if only because Miko does it quite more often then he does
it's entertaining to watch the young girl go on and on with the AI while they stare at her blankly, and occasionally nodding to let her know they've heard what she's said
he eventually jumps in on their one sided conversations, talking with the AI and telling them jokes(which has become a favorite of the two), only to try and hold back fits of laughter when they give back a literal answer
sometimes Bulkhead does feel bad for teasing them, it's not their fault they don't understand things such as humor, but Miko always reassures him by reminding that they are an AI
it doesn't do much to make him feel better, but he moves on and still talks and cracks jokes along side Miko
sometimes when it's just Bulkhead in the room, he gets this strange feeling that he's being watched, but every time he turns around there's no one there, the main part of the base is empty and the monitors are off
he eventually starts to get that feeling too when the place is buzzing with people; however, every time he looks around everyone's busy doing their own thing
it starts to have an effect on him, and before long Ratchet picks up that somethings going on and as the teams doctor, he has to ask in case the the Wrecker is trying to hide an injury, or if he's up to something with Miko
he explains to the ol medic that none of that is the case, and he hesitantly comes clean about feeling like he's being watched lately, and to his very own shock, Ratchet admits he's not the only one, apparently everyoneâs been feeling like that
Team Prime goes into full alert, searching around and trying to see if someones hiding in the base, or if somehow the Con's snuck in secret surveillance on them
this goes on for quite sometime, and while still on edge, the team of bots back off slightly after coming up with nothing
then one evening, while the kids are visiting and everyone's taking a break as much as they can, Optimus comes into the room with that look, and everyone thinks that heâs found the source of their discomfort, only for the leader to look in the direction of Bulkhead and Miko, stating that the bases AI just told him joke
Ratchet:
Ratchet's not all too friendly with the AI; actually he pretty much treats them how he would anyone, with a snippy, curt, no bs today attitude
the only difference is that they're not effected by his words, and while he's pretty sure it's because of their programming in which they can not feel things the same way others can, he doesn't really care
the ol doc won't admit it, but while he seems very gruff on the outside, he actually does like to have them around
it was a bit irritating to have someone watching you and wait to be of assistance at first, but it didn't take long for him to actually enjoy their presence
they're quiet for one, and two they follow order's to a T, something that he greatly appreciates
soon Ratchet starts to rant off to them about his day without even knowing it; they don't ever say anything in return, just nod, and he knows they won't go spilling any of what he has to say to others, all of which is a huge relief for him; sometimes he just wants to let out steam and be heard, not let out steam and be given advice
ranting soon turns to nice little chats; he gets more comfortable around the AI, and tells them about things like how Raf made him a macaroni necklace, and while he's completely honest on how it's super flimsy and what not, it's a very touching gesture
before long Ratchet's become completely comfortable and close with the AI, so much so that he opens up to them, tells them things that are bothering him and things that he feels horrible about, such as how he'd gone off on Miko for something dumb she had done, but he admits she's just a child and honestly he feels absolutely horrible for going off on her in such a way that was completely unnecessary
the red and white mech doesn't ever realize the close bond he's made with the AI till Agent Fowler states they need to do an update on their systems after finding something buggy in the data
during that time they're gone, Ratchet reflects on all the stuff he's talked with them about, from ranting to practically spilling his guts to them, and it makes him feel so foolish, because the work being done to them reminds him of what they are, and in turn have no way to connect or understand or take to meaning the countless hours he spent talking to them like a very close friend
a week later and the AI is being put back into the bases systems, and Agent Fowler request Ratchet to keep a close eye on them since he's the primary one at the computers, because while test and things were being done, the engineers who built them couldn't find the problem that they were originally getting warnings about
Ratchet only nods and is ready to go back to work when they faze onto the screen, and he grunts them a hello
his optics go wide when instead of being given a simple nod and montone question of how they can be of assistance today, he instead witnesses a friendly smile and is asked if everything was fixed with Miko
~xXx~

RotTMNT/Baron Jitsu fanfiction: Dating⊠With Children - BONUS CHAPTER
((Just consider this a bonus chapter that could pretty much take place at any day during the story, since it's more drabble-like than the other chapters.
As much as I LOVE writing cute Baron Jitsu stuff, the other main part of this story is Draxum also bonding with the boys and learning to become a worthy stepdad. (or, second dad? Since Lou was never married before? Whatever) And I really didn't want that part of the story to sorta fall by the wayside in favor of romance so, here's a whole chapter focusing on Draxum and the boys. Enjoy! ^v^))
Draxum had never really had much experience with kids in his adult life. No brothers or sisters meant no nieces or nephews, cousins or other distant relatives werenât really much of an option either, and the lab he worked at wasnât exactly the type to get field trips.
Still, dating a man with four young boys allowed him to learn quickly and pick up on little things. One of the things he had noticed right away was that once a child thought of you as a good person - or at the very least, considered them someone they trusted enough and didnât mind being around - they wanted that person to know every single detail about them.
Whether that be their favorite food (pizza, though each of them had vastly different favorite side dishes, snacks, desserts and juice. Draxum honestly wasnât sure how Lou could keep it all straight), their favorite colors (that one was as obvious as, well, as the colored shirts they were wearing) or, the most âimportantâ of all, their favorite toysâŠ
â-And this is The Annihilation, anâ this is Liberty Bill - heâs part of the Liberty League.â
âNaturally,â Draxum said dryly, adjusting his position slightly on the boyâs floor so that his legs didnât fall asleep.
âYeah, theyâre okay. My brothers really like them though. But my favorite is-â Raph grinned, holding up an action figure in an orange leotard with a white cape and bear ears on his mask. âGHOST BEARRRR!â
âGhost Bear, hm?â The scientist could hardly keep himself from rolling his eyes. How on Earth did these wrestlers come up with such ridiculous names and costume themes? Then again, they probably had to do something to help keep the audienceâs attention, along with all the manufactured drama between the so-called âathletesâ. It was no wonder so many children were fans of it.
â-and heâs always won every fight, and heâs super strong and just SO COOL!â Raph continued as he shook the figure around, âAnâ sometimes, when Iâm playing wrestling with him, I have him tag team up with other bears!â
The boy in red raised back over to his closet and began to pull out not more action figures, but instead plushies. First a small black bear Beanie Baby - âThis is Captân Snuggles-â then a much bigger, much more plush bear with a small lab coat- âand this is Dr. Huggenstein, youâd probably like him âcause heâs a doctor like you-â and finally, a slightly smaller and very well-loved brown bear plushie covered in stitches and patches- âAnd THIS is Cheech! He was my first teddy!â
Raphâs smile softened a bit as he hugged the toy. He and Cheech had been friends for a long time⊠Since before he met Lou, since before he met his brothers! And as far as Raph was concerned, they were going to be friends forever.
â...It- er, He definitely seems special then,â Draxum commented.
Raph nodded. âYeah, heâs greatâŠâ He then scowled slightly. âSome of the older kids back at my old home didnât think so though. They said havinâ teddy bears makes you a baby, but I didnât believe themâŠâ Even when their words hurt. âTeddies are cool, and so are real bears.â
âIndeed,â the scientist agreed, âAfter all, theyâre resourceful, resilient, protective of their young-â
âYeah!â Raph smiled, hugging Cheech again, âAnd strong too! Really strong, like me! But theyâre not jerks or anything, theyâre just beinâ bears! Thatâs why I like them!â
Draxum smiled a bit, watching as Raph began to make Cheech wrestle Liberty Bill. âA good choice for a favorite animal, then...â
âŠ.
âI canât believe youâve never heard of Jupiter Jim!â Leo shook his head. What, did grown ups just miss out on ALL the fun stuff in life? âMy brothers and I have seen all his movies!â
âOh? All of them?â
â...Weeeell, maybe not all of them-â Sixty movies was a lot, even for a young fan, and some of them hadnât been re-released on dvd yet- âBut weâve still seen a lot of them, and thatâs more than you!â
âHmph, fine, fine, Iâll give one of them a watch sometime,â Draxum half-promised. He enjoyed the sci-fi genre well enough but, much like the Lou Jitsu movies, Jupiter Jim always just seemed too cheesy for him. At least with the Lou Jitsu movies, he could still count on well done and realistic fight choreography as well as a performance by who he considered was a much more charming lead. ...Not that he had any biases or anything.
âYou gotta watch âem,â Leo insisted as he dragged out yet another plastic vehicle, this one being a moon buggy (or at least, the Sci-fi Hollywood version of one) with a miniature version of the titular character himself in the driverâs seat. âEspecially the ones where heâs gotta make an escape in his buggy, theyâre SO cool! And he explores planets, and fights the bad aliens and monsters while saving the good ones!â
With a hop and a determined smirk, Leo activated his light-up space sword. Draxum made sure to take a couple steps back as the boy began swinging it around, but thankfully Leo had practiced enough (and seen the movies enough) that he knew the moves well enough. âJimâs just the best!â Leo continued, âHeâs cool, heâs good at sword fighting, and he can always think of a plan to win and get away and save the day! And he gets to do this all while in space! On the moon! In SPACE!â
Draxum smirked. âI take it you like space?â
âDonât you?â
âPoint taken.â
âIt just makes everything cooler and awesomer,â Leo shrugged, âAnd Iâm gonna try to go to the Moon sometime too. You know, in the future. But until then, Iâm just gonna keep watching Jim go there.â Suddenly, the boy went quiet, glancing around for any eavesdroppers before bringing his voice to a loud whisper. âAnd donât tell Dad but⊠Sometimes I think Jupiter Jim is even better than the Lou Jitsu in the movies!â
Draxum nearly snorted at that, managing to just barely hold back his chuckles as he promised, âI wonât say a wordâŠâ
âŠ
âLeon mightâve said that Jupiter Jim was the best, but heâs wrong âcause he just canât see who the REAL best character in those movies is!â With a bit of a dramatic flair, Donnie spun around to reveal the doll he had taken off his bookshelf. âTa-daaaa~!â
Draxum raised his eyebrow, trying to figure out what exactly he was looking at. The doll had spiky bright-green hair, pink skin, eyes that as far as he concerned were much too big for it, and a blue and purple outfit with an atom symbol on itâs belt. The doll also had a giant plastic hammer in itâs hand. âOh. Well, itâs-â
âHer name is Atomic Lass!â Donnie stated, smiling as he went into the explanation, âSheâs a friend of Jupiter Jimâs! She comes from this town on a far away planet called Uraniumville, where she fights crime using her metal hammer and these really neat radiation beams that come from her hands!â
âAh, I see,â Draxum nodded. That sounded about right, totally in-line with the style of those movies. âIs that why you like her then? Because sheâs powerful?â
âWell, yeah,â Donnie replied, looking at the doll, âBut sheâs also super cool, and super pretty, and tough and, of course, smart.â He smiled at that. âReally, REALLY smart. That was how she got her powers, âcause she was also a scientist on her home planet before she became a crime fighter!â
Draxum nodded again, completely understanding now. When most heroes only seemed to rely on muscles and power boost, he could understand rooting for one who also had a brain. Donnie then sighed, fiddling with the dollâs hair a bit. âI know radiation makes humans sick, but I still wish I could just get some uranium and be a hero too instead of just dying from it. And itâll take me forever to be strong enough to use a giant metal hammer!â
â...â A bit concerning but nonetheless all part of the childhood fantasy, Draxum assumed. âWhy donât you just focus on the things you can do now that make you feel smart and strong, and then figure out the âheroâ parts later?â he suggested.
Donnie thought it over. â...Iâm trying to get Pop to let me do another science experiment at home, but now I wanna do something else, like⊠Like making my own robot! Theyâve got books on how to make âem, you know! I just gotta find the right library⊠Thereâs robots you can buy at the toy store too but, I really wanna make my own - and I KNOW I could!â
With how smart and talented the young boy in purple seemed to be, Draxum had no problem believing that Donnie very well could make his own simple robot. Making a mental note to look up robotic projects for children later on, Draxum just smiled back at him. âSounds like the perfect project to me.â
Donnie was full-on grinning now, eyes determined and mind already whirling with ideas. âYeah! First robots, and THEN figuring out a way to get superpowers!â
âWell, Iâd still maybe put that idea away for nowâŠâ
âŠ
If Mikey wasnât holding a crayon or marker or paintbrush, then he was usually holding one of his brotherâs toys. One of their many action figures, or one of Raphâs plushies or Leoâs toy cars or Donnieâs puzzle toys. All of these toys were happily borrowed, and as long as they were taken care of and eventually put back, the other Jitsu boys didnât mind whatsoever.
Of course Mikey had his own toys - including a play kitchen where he could âpracticeâ until he was tall enough to safely reach the stove - but more often than not his brothersâ toys were just more interesting to him. ...Still, what he did have that was all his own and that he played with happily was all the more unique, as well as all the more fitting for the young artist.
âHere!â Mikey proudly beamed, shoving the large shoe box into Draxumâs hands, âLook!â
âWowâŠâ Slowly, Draxum picked up each item one by one. Dolls made out of clothespins and spoons covered in paint, string and googly eyes. Birds and nimals made with paper and sticks and glue (loooots of glue, much to the doctorâs slight annoyance). Creatures that Draxum had no idea what they could be, created with puff balls and chunks of styrofoam and pipe cleaners, but still obviously made with lots of love.
And finally, folded carefully at the bottom of the box, a crane made out of a single sheet of bright orange paper. âOrigami, right?â Draxum asked.
âUh huh,â Mikey nodded, gently taking it from him, âBut I didnât make this one, Papa did! He made it for me the first night we came here to live with him, when I was too excited to fall asleep.â He pulled at the tail a bit, making the craneâs wings flap. âHe said that paper cranes caused good luck, and that some people try to make a thousand so they can get a wish! But I donât need a wish, so I just make âem whenever I feel like it.â
âThatâs fair,â Draxum smiled, âIâm not sure if you could fit a thousand cranes in this house, even if you wanted to.â
âHeh, yeah, itâd be wayyyy too crowded!â Mikey giggled. He looked at Draxum, and then back at his crane. â...Stay right there!â Mikey told him as he ran over to his small desk, pulling out a sheet of paper. Not having much of a choice, Draxum leaned back slightly on the childâs bed and watched him work.
Mikey was surprisingly meticulous for his age, his tongue poking out in concentration as he carefully did each fold, though not once stopping or making a mistake. It was as if this sort of craft just came naturally to him, or perhaps heâd just done it enough times to know the steps by heart. Either way, it was pretty impressive, Draxum had to admit. Once the actual crane was done, it was onto adding markings and designs with markers and crayon along with the finishing touch of a bit of glitter before finally being given to Draxum.
âHere!â Mikey said, holding the teal crane up as far as he could, âNow you can have a good luck crane too, and itâll make sure youâll find a neat science thing at your work, or that you have good dates with my papa!â
Draxum chuckled, taking the crane. âI donât think I need good luck to have a good time with your father, but thank you very much, Mikey.â
The boy beamed, and quickly climbed back up onto the bed to give Draxum a hug. âYouâre welcome!â
The colorful crane never did find its way to Draxumâs lab, whether that was on purpose or on accident. But, it did however find a nice home on his nightstand, silently greeting him each night at bedtime and each morning when he woke up.
So, good luck or no, at least there was the small smile that it always seemed to put on his face whenever he noticed it - which only made sense, considering the place (and the family) it came from...
((It's been several episodes since Raph's mentioned his teddy bear collection in 'Mascot Melee', just SHOW US THE TEDDIES ALREADY! His collection sounded so cute, and I absolutely loved the names he had for them, lol. Also Leo being a huge space/scifi nerd in any incarnation is just amusing to me, heh. But yeah, hope you guys liked this! Next time, more Baron Jitsu with a bit of drama thrown in! See you then!))

Okay but imagine Chiro, and maybe even Otto asking Sparx to charge their electronics, he does it. But when Gibson makes mention of how one of his machines are running out of power. âWell that sounds like a personal problem, get a charger buddy.â Is the first thing that pops out Sparxâs mouth
Iâm dying, oh my god. He so would. What a little asshole. I love him so much.
Heâd probably charge it eventually, but yeah, he would absolutely bitch more about that then he would helping out Otto and Chiro.Â
...I gotta drabble it.Â
No oneâs reallysure when it starts, exactly. Well, thatâs not entirely true. The first timeanyone can remember is when the Moon Buggy breaks down on Ranger 7, as theyâregathering fuel for the Super Robot.
âSprx, do youthink you could jump it?â Otto asks, peering into the engine.
Sprx glanced up. âUh.Yeah. Sure.â He hopped out of the buggy and activated his magnets. A jolt ofelectricity later and they were back underway.
After that, itwas like a dam opened. When Chiroâs handheld ran out of charge, he turned the doeeyes on Sprx. Sprx rolled his eyes, but complied with the unspoken request. Ottoneeded a jolt of electricity for one of his projects, he looked at Sprx, Sprxactivated his magnets. Antauri looked droopy after a big fight, Sprx gave him asubtle charge.
Small things, things that he didnât honestly need to do at all. He didnât mind, really. Itwas nice to use his magnets for something good, after the Fire of Hate. A wayof reminding himself that his weapons werenât just good for ripping monkeysapart.
âCourse, thatdidnât mean he was going to do everythingwithout complaint. That wasnât in his nature, after all.
âSprx.â
âItâs the middleof the night, Brainstrain. What do you want?â Sprx grumbled.
Gibson scoffed. âYouarenât even asleep.â
Well, no. He wasnât.If only because these days, closing his eyes was more trouble than it was worth.Heâd napped, though. Heâd nap again in a few hours. Itâd be fine. Heâd be fine.Still, though.
âWell, no, but Icouldâa been.â
Gibson scoffedagain, and Sprx was uncomfortably reminded that for all that Gibson spent lifewith his head buried in science experiments and inventions, he was stillobservant. Had to be, to be a pilotâand while Sprx was leagues better than hewas, Gibson was still a good one. (Not that he would ever admit that aloud.)
âWhaddya need, anyway?â Part of Sprx wanted to call him out for not sleeping, but that wouldlead to a conversation Sprx really, really didnât want to have. Not now. Maybenot ever.
âThat new weaponof Ottoâs sucked up quite a bit of our power reserves.â Gibson sniffed, miffed.âWhile it certainly produced⊠resultsââ by which Gibson meant a big smokinghole in the middle of a Formless armyââit also didnât leave enough energy leftfor me to run tests on the new Formless material. I need you to power themachine.â
Sprx, as he alwaysdid, said the first thing that popped in his head, âWell, gee, Gibson, thatsounds like a personal problem. Get a charger buddy.â
Gibson sputtered.
Sprx grinned, androlled onto his feet. âIs this the corruptive stuff?â he asked, as he made hisway to the door.
Gibsonâssputtering increased in volume for a moment, before the scientist closed hiseyes and took a breath. âYes.â
Sprx nodded. SkeletonKing was back to using that Formless goo of his to infect perfectly averagepeople and make them into his goons. Just like with those circus freaks, backwhen times were simpler. If Gibson could identify what was in the goo, they wouldbe able to scan for it. Maybe even cure it, without having to kick the crap outof them. Probably not, though. The whole thing reeked of magical mumbo-jumbo,and they didnât have a spellcaster on their team.
Though Gibson did still have that grimoire from the demon-planet.
âLetâs go get itcharged, then.â
âAh. Yes. I⊠appreciateit.â
Sprx waved hishand. âWhatever. Just make it snappy, aâight? We got crap to do tomorrow, andif youâre too tired, Iâm tellinâ Antauri that youâre pullinâ all-nightersagain.â
Gibson made anoffended noise that had Sprx grinning again.

Fallout 76
Sooooooo Fallout 76 came out yesterday, which I wouldâve liked to have been playing till midnight out of sheer excitement. That is, if it wasnât mired with so many technical bugs and other irritations that would make it more of a chore than a joy to play. I havenât actually played it yet, but from what Iâve been hearing I donât think I want to. This is gonna be mostly hearsay, but itâs my rant post and Iâm feeling motivated tonight so here I go.
I had learned my lesson from the rather lukewarm release of Fo4 and tried my best to not get too excited about it. Overall, I did keep a level head from the time it was announced âtill the day it launched but I did still have an optimistic outlook about it. Even when it was confirmed to be online only multiplayer with no NPCs, I still had some hope for it cause I was ready to rock ân roll with some friends in the wastes. The online part actually got me even more excited because I could finally team up with some of my friends and explore the wastes together. We even had our roles all picked out and everything. One of us was gonna be the builder/weapon smith, one was gonna be our sneaky sniper, and then I was gonna be the tank of the group in my kickass power armor. We all exchanged words about how much we were looking forward to it. Knowing what I know now, I feel almost a little bit betrayed by how the game turned out.
As the release day grew closer and closer, more information about the gameâs shortcomings came to light. Reports from the B.E.T.A. event that a lot of people went to in WV left most with a positive impression, but when the public got into the B.E.T.A. more issues began cropping up. From frame dips, to glitches, the gameâs core workings, or lack thereof rather, started to become apparent.
Just a few days before release, everyone learned that there was also a really big security concern that someone on reddit brought up. This is where my hope begane to waiver. Most of the gameâs functions like player health, stats, and lots of other important information wasnât being checked by the servers to verify that nothing had been changed. You could literally open up a file and change your health so that your character could be effectively un-killable, or you could even give yourself boatloads of caps and buy anything you could ever want.
Not only that, information was sent to the servers in plaintext format which meant that anyone could run wireshark to skim information about who was connected to your particular server. Do I also need to mention that there are microstransactions in this game too? Yeah, Iâm sure you can see where Iâm going with that. So after all the bragging they did about how effective their anti-griefing system was, they basically left the keys to the mansion under the rug for people to abuse however they saw fit.
As for the glitches I mentioned earlier, donât worry. Bethesda Game Studios has got you covered in the only way they know how. Their game still uses their antiquated Creation Engine, which was based off the already unsteady Gamebryo engine from Oblivion, which over the years has been patched and stitched together to work for a newer generation of games. Even Fo4 used it, and while still graphically impressive for the Fallout series as a whole, when compared to other games from that generation it still looked dated.
From frame dips, animation errors, and flat out freezing/crashing, 76 lays bear all the faults of Bethesdaâs clunky engine. The reason Fo4 was at least liked despite itâs short comings was because it has enough substance that one could still have enough fun to overlook them. 76 has no such luxury. From the get go, youâre walking into this vast empty world with the only things to keep you company, outside of friends to play with, is the robots and mutated creatures of WV. The main story itself is just you following around the ghosts of people who have long since been dead.
I know I said the lack of NPCs didnât really bother me, but now that Iâm thinking about story progression it really does rub me the wrong way. I donât want to go around cleaning up after people that have been dead for years before I stumbled across their corpse. If it were me, I wouldâve taken a moment to feel bad for them and then move on with my hecking life. Why should I make his former problems mine? Iâd much rather have someone come running up to me begging for me to help defend his home from a super mutant attack. I want to feel like Iâm actually making a damn difference in this damn apocalypse, not clean up after dead people. Anyways, back to the bugs.
V.A.T.S. is just a dreadful mess. The percentages are constantly changing from 95% to 0% in half a second, which is hardly helpful. Youâd be better off just manually aiming because at least then you could at least hit them reliably. This is one of the more egregious examples of a poor implementation that is a staple in the series. I could go on with the bugs, but its 12:30 right now and I want to sleep. So I want to get on to the final reason why 76 is so frustrating.
Bethesda is lazy, pure and simple. Iâm not saying the employees are lazy, Iâm looking at the people at the top making the decision to continue using old, buggy code that shouldâve been overhauled *years* ago. Theyâve had more than enough time to sort this shit out, but they didnât because they wanted to get this game to market as fast as possible to capitalize on the âlive serviceâ train. Well itâs biting them in the ass now âcause their lack of experience and overall ineptitude is more apparent now than ever. They are falling behind in an area where they used to be the leader in, chasing after trends they used to set. Their continued use of their Creation Engine is going to be their downfall unless they give it a much needed tune-up, which itâs needed since Fo3.
Itâs this very reason that no matter how much new content they add to it, itâs never going to be the game I and so many others wanted it to be. Itâs going to take nothing short of a complete overhaul of the game in order to even have a hope of coming close to something like that. Which wonât happen, everyone knows it. Even if that does happen, the question still remains as to how many people were overworked to the point of mental, physical, and emotional breakdown in order to achieve that goal.
Iâm willing to give Bethesda one more chance, because if they pull their head out their ass and get their shit together I think they can make great games again. As for Fallout 76, I refuse to support the behavior it represents.

Top 10 Games 2017
Here are my top 10 games for 2017! Minor spoilers for a few of them, but nothing major. Youâve been warned!
10. Resident Evil 7: BioHazard
There have been 27 Resident Evil games, including remakes, remasters, 3DS releases but excluding pachinko machines and Tiger Electronics handhelds. Of those near thirty games, Resident Evil 7 brings the total Iâve enjoyed to⊠two. I guess this is my way of saying that between being a huge scaredy cat and irked by the stuffy, smothering control scheme of the originals, thereâs no nostalgia weighing me down whenever Capcom reinvents Resident Evil, first with Resident Evil 4, now again with 7.
But where Resident Evil 4 took the fantasy of being a special agent in a world full of monsters further than ever before, Resident Evil 7 drops it completely. In it, Iâm a wimp, a nerd with a camera at the whims of this family of maniacs, trapped on their grounds by a drive to find my wife, who is changing into⊠something. Capcom smothers me with a pervasive sense of helplessness playing RE7, forcing me into a desperate scramble to escape the unstoppable Daddy (side note: âThe Unstoppable Daddyâ was my nickname in college). Filling me with absolute dread when the disgusting creature Marguerite becomes clambers through holes and onto walls. And forcing me to freeze up and take a deep breath at the sinking realization that my next goal is all the way across the grounds.with god knows what between me and it. Even the change to a first-person view means your helpless doesnât stop at your ability to fight - you donât even know whatâs around you. Resident Evil 7 left me terrified and anxious throughout, which is saying something since  played it on Easy.
9. Gorogoa
Itâs now an annual event that, despite a perception that Adventure Games are dead, someone releases a labor of love whose beauty and finesse showcase the best the genre has to offer. Gorogoa asks you to interact in the simplest terms - zoom in and out, or drag and drop. What makes Gorogoa special is that when I do those things, it feels like Iâve changed fundamental ways that I think. My perspective on the world has shifted about ten degrees to the left and all the rules are new. That combined with hand-drawn visuals, stark sound design and desolate narrative made Gorogoa a brief yet crucial experience for anyone looking to see games as more than loot-box dispensers.
8. Star Wars: Force Arena
Oops, speaking of Loot Boxes. Well, card packs? Is there a difference? Where have we come down on this? The conversation around gaming in 2017 has been dominated by a debate about the ethics of selling random pulls at cards, skins, characters, horses, buggies, whatever, and Iâm going to level with all of you - my perspective is skewed. I make mobile free-to-play games, which use this mechanic, and Iâve been playing collectible card games since the Revised core set for Magic: The Gathering came out in 1994. So one way to look at my opinion is that I donât have a problem with this way of selling people games, and a much less charitable one is that Iâm fully indoctrinated. Either way, being able to get emotionally side-step this entire debate has lent me the clarity of mind to tell you all that Star Wars: Force Arena is good as hell.
Force Arena is the real-time, head-to-head gameplay of Clash Royale, but with direct control of a Hero, MOBA-style, then Star Warsâed all the way up. Every system is implemented in a smartly and cleanly, facilitating my ability to get into the game and getting out of my so I can let people know my Han Solo deck is not to be flexed with. The whole thing is catnip for Olâ Maloney over here, and I am straight rolling.
7. Star Wars: Imperial Assault - Legends of the Alliance
Is spaghetti a sandwich? Is Chewbacca a dog? Is Matt Kessler a mongoose? Is Legends of the Alliance, an app for Star Wars: Imperial Assault, a video game with physical components or a board game with a digital accessory? The line between board games and video games is get blurrier, as outstanding digital components have begun to take the place of cumbersome bookkeeping, or allow designers to add elements that would be impossible to achieve otherwise. Or, in the case of Legends of the Alliance, replacing the Imperial Player entirely.
Traditionally played as a team of rebels against a monolithic Imperial player, Legends of the Alliance turns Imperial Assault into a fully cooperative experience, running the campaign as a virtual dungeon master, setting up your next level and directing Imperial enemies to attack your heroes. But more than simply emulating a now missing player, Legends of the Alliance takes this chance to add something to the experience.
Without the app you bounce from one XCOM-esque tactical mission to the next, but now⊠now you go on non-combat missions. You make friends in the world. You feel a real sense of betrayal when you learn not all the Rebels are working for the greater good, and you deal with the emotional aftermath with other characters when the Empire manages to grind you under their heel. These things werenât in the box of plastic and cards I bought years back - they were exclusively part of Legends of the Alliance, and creating new memories and experience while justifying asking you to bring your laptop to your tabletop.
6. Horizon Zero Dawn
Thereâs a vital sincerity to Horizon Zero Dawn. After borrowing mechanics liberally from Far Cry/Assassinâs Creed, adding giant robot dinosaurs, and then putting the voice actress behind Borderlands 2âs (in my opinion, brutally irritating) Tiny Tina front and center, it would have been so easy for Guerrilla Games to smarmy one-liner their way through this post-post-apocalypse adventure. Instead they cast that all aside to carefully bring you into a world without even a hint of irony.
At the center of the game is Ashly Burchâs Aloy, full of wounded confidence and strength tinged with kindness, a performance so natural yet thoughtful that Aloy stands above any other character in games this year. That sincerity doesnât make Horizon a serious or grim affair - thereâs jokes, and boy howdy is there a lot of flirting - but it serves to draw the player into the world, rather than establish a safe ironic distance from which both the player and the game can remain âcool.â Every choice shows that Guerrilla Games truly wants me to care about Aloy and the world of Horizon. It turns out I do.
5. HQ
For me, 2017 was a year of shared gaming experiences. Iâll get to the other two big ones below, but Iâd be remiss if I didnât include this nightmare of a Black Mirror episode, this scheduled dose of Quiz Daddy Scott Rogowski, this twice daily car crash with a cash payout, HQ.
For months at 3 PM, Iâd jump into Discord with my friends and join in the collective hypnosis of a new game of HQ. We were beyond captivated. We had a million questions - who is Scott? Why does he vamp with the intensity of someone hosting at gunpoint? Where is he broadcasting this from? And when heâs not there, where the hell is Scott? Who is this rando who claims to be âScottâs Boyâ? How does the player count keep growing, and how does this thing make money? It was a mystery wrapped in tech startup poppiness and a screaming man in a suit, and we wanted to know everything about it.
Like any mystery, as weâve learned more about Scott and HQ, our interest has waned and my friends have fallen off the Trivia Train. But for months, once a day weâd simultaneously drop everything and delve into it. Something nothing else in games or television has gotten us to do for years. Also, uh...
âŠ
Iâm playing a game called HQ Trivia. You should play too. Use my code âcaseymaloneâ to sign up.
4. Super Mario Odyssey
In late October 2017, was there anything I needed more than some unabashed joy? A full-on celebration of bright colors, silly characters and bizarre hats? Super Mario Odyssey would be an incredible game at any time in history, but the timing of its release felt like more than just a game; it felt like a balm. A warm weighted blanket sewn from my old t-shirts, taking nostalgia and making it into something new, something calling me to come back and crawl under it all day, every day. A game that rewarded me for just being in the world, asking me to challenge myself at your own pace, issuing pats on the head and individually wrapped chocolates as a reward for just wandering around and doing my thing. 2017 was a year where Nintendo was dedicated to challenging what people expect from them with their hardware, their mobile ports, and another of their major franchises. When it came to Mario, though, Nintendo clearly just wanted to make people happy. And Iâm so, so grateful for that.
3. Destiny 2 & 2. PlayerUnknownâs Battlegrounds
Destiny and Battlegrounds seem like pretty starkly different experiences, but what I got out of them in 2017 was the same - time with some of my best friends. Friends who live in Los Angeles, New York, New Jersey, England, San Francisco; people I never get to see, people I donât even get to talk to that often. But those friendships got actually stronger this year through these games.
That wouldnât be possible if the underlying games werenât outstanding - Destiny 2âs shooting feels incredible, and its endless list of chores made sure there was always a mission for me to suck friends into, or a goal for me to help them out with. There arenât (currently) many Strikes for us to go on, but honestly that helped - when you know all the beats, a zen-like state takes over and you can enjoy the lock-on and kickback of hand cannons without worry. All the while catching up, making goofs, or ranting about the state of the world without the game getting in the way.
Destiny 2âs not perfect - a lot of the changes made from Destiny to Destiny 2 to make it smoother and more welcoming turned solo play into a dull shade of its predecessor. But as a part of a Strike Team, Destiny 2 hums with efficiency, getting out of my way and letting me and my friends have fun.
And it would be second to none this year if wasnât for PlayerUnknownâs Battlegrounds.
Battlegrounds is insane, itâs a fun-time mess-around machine paired with an intensely hardcore military shooter, a game thatâs thirty minutes of a goofy chatroom capped off with two minutes of a game-ending firefight. Except for when that fire-fight lasts for twenty minutes and itâs the most intense experience of my life. Iâve had as much fun losing PUBG as Iâve had winning (the few times Iâve managed to snag a chicken dinner), and Iâve had even more fun when I die and get to stay in voice-chat to cheer on the rest of my squad, spectating through to the end.
While I donât get much out of watching strangers stream on Twitch, Iâve been lucky that enough of my friends stream this game, for a while on an almost daily basis, that I had just as much fun watching them as actually playing it. I laughed so hard when friends would get motorcycles trapped in a tree, cheered when theyâd have from-behind victories, and feel heartbreak when the squadâs last hope would get shotgunned from behind after escaping tough spot after tough spot. Somehow all these feelings were just as strong as when I was behind the controls myself. Thereâs magic in this game, which boggles the mind, because with its bugs and frankly generic style, it could not possibly look less magical.
I cannot fucking believe Iâm typing this but it turns out the real game of the year was the friends I made along the way.
1. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
Just kidding, game of the year is The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
I always have less to say when I get to the top item on my list because what could I possibly say about Breath of the Wild that hasnât been covered already? Nintendo stripped so much out of the Zelda series that honestly when I started playing it, I felt uncomfortable and exposed - what do you mean my weapons break? Wait, I donât have to buy bombs, I just HAVE them? When are the DUNGEONS going to show up, what are these shines? I donât like this at all. But as I bristled against those, I was slowly filling with wonder. Every canyon I walked out of, every corner I turned, every hole I climbed out of revealed a field with towns and caverns, or small forests full of unknown treasures and monsters.
Lots of games do open worlds, but where Skyrim feels like I could get lost in it, the Hyrule of Breath of the Wild feels like I am conquering it. In Skyrim I feel like Iâm exploring the map - in Breath of the Wild, Iâm making it.
I remember so clearly, late at night, climbing to the top of a bridge that crosses Lake Hylia. I donât know why I was there, or what I thought might be at the top of the tower, but Nintendo put it there, so maybe. Maybe there was something. I climbed to the top and there wasnât anything for me to take, but as I looked over towards the horizon, Hyrule stretched on forever. I felt overwhelmed with the possibility of disappointment - that I would feel the need to climb it all, that there wouldnât be a thing for me at the top of most of those towers, under those rocks. And as I thought about that the music changed. From the water of the lake emerged Farosh, the lightning dragon, soaring, completely oblivious to me. He was beautiful, powerful, made me forget about any of my goals or collectibles and forced me to take in his majesty. Forced me to realize there were no rupees or arrows up there because this moment was my reward. And that there would be moments like this all throughout Hyrule. I just needed to go looking for them.
Near Misses: Injustice 2, Everybodyâs Golf, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

We know you only hate 06 more than Boom because of pkstarstorm1up
Itâs more to do with expectations, really. Sonic 06 was the last time I bought in to the hype. And I bought in to it deep. Sega was out there talking about how this was a reboot, about how it was a celebration of Sonicâs 15th anniversary, and I told myself there was no way they were going to mess it up. It was too important to fail, and at least in the context of a post-Sonic Heroes, post-Shadow the Hedgehog world, Sega was saying all the right stuff:
This game was going to be a technical showpiece, showing us a bigger, more dramatic world for Sonic. Not necessarily dark and edgy like Shadow the Hedgehog, what with the blood and the swearing and the assault rifles, but just more... cinematic and grounded in reality, I guess? I mean, that reveal trailer was incredible! Is the game going to be THAT big and THAT detailed?
They were going back to the style of game we got in the original Sonic Adventure. Sonic Adventure was regarded as one of the only 3D Sonic games to really understand the mixture of speed and platforming from the Genesis games, even if was a buggy, janky mess. So a do-over on that concept sounded great!
Most early marketing, and most quotes from Sega were adamant that there were only three playable characters in Sonic 06: Sonic, Shadow, and Silver. This was, of course, a flat out, straight up lie â one they kept under their hats until about two weeks before release when they finally began talking about âAmigoâ partners.
They were wiping the slate clean for a new generation. More powerful hardware meant a new style of Sonic the Hedgehog. They wanted people to forget their past sins and focus on this new modern-fantasy take on Sonic the Hedgehog. With the previous points, I was ready to believe.
Sonic 06 was the first game I had ever pre-ordered in my entire life. It was the first Xbox 360 game I bought. It was the last Sonic game I ever let myself get openly, unreservedly excited for.
And thatâs because I fell very, very, very far, and I smashed in to reality. It crushed every blue bone in my body. Even now, as Sonic 06 is fully entrenched itself as sort of a Rocky Horror Picture Show or The Room-type game, where people love to laugh at it, I find it difficult to forgive Sonic 06 when I really sit down and remember how I felt 11 years ago, cracking open that game as my first step in to the next generation of console gaming.
Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric, on the other hand, was awful looking a mile away. The character designs, that incredibly awkward first trailer, it was super obvious it was going to be another Sonic Heroes situation, plus also feature a lot of fighting. Sonic doesnât beat robots up with his fists!
And once I finally got it, it was more sad than anything else. It was incredibly obvious that executive meddling had somehow changed the game; so much of it looked so different from that reveal trailer, and so much more of it just didnât make any sense. I knew why Sonic 06 was the way it was â if Sonic 06 was a celebration of anything, it was a celebration of everything Sonic Team did wrong. They created a game out of the worst parts of all 3D Sonics.
Sonic Boom was just a PS2-era platformer. It was another Ratchet & Clank, or Jak & Daxter, and every now and then you could see a glimmer of it actually not being an awful one. It was never anything like a Sonic game of course, but BigRedButton had enough pedigree at their studio that you could see that in Rise of Lyric sometimes.
Sonic 06 was like being dropped from the rooftop of a skyscraper, whereas Sonic Boom was like finding an ugly teddy bear in a dumpster.
Nobody remembers pkstarstorm1up anymore. Not even me. Itâs time to move on.
