This is quite literally my first piece of digital art, ever. My first time drawing these 2 dorks, too. And first time drawing anthros...lots of firsts here. Done in ibis paint, in a phone that is constantly burning up. Love these silly lil' gay monkeys. I adore LMK, but this version is so underrated!!! Absolutely adore this iteration, will probably write character, narrative and meta analysis. Definitely gonna make more Peachbuds and fanart 2009 Monkey King in general. Whoever in the production team that had the idea to give Liu'er a pink/white/cream main color pallette had a galaxy brain, it was a delight to color him.

Sun Wukong again!

In 1956, another great comics creator, Liu Ji You 刘继卣 (1918-1983), created eight paintings illustrating the fifth and sixth eras of the novel ‘Journey to the West’《西遊記》, entitled ‘An Heavenly Meeting’ or ‘The Palace of Heaven’《闹天宫》 (this is also the title of a traditional play in Beijing Chinese opera). Here are Liu Ji You's magnificent illustrations:

The Monkey King wields a magical staff that he can shrink or grow in length based on his needs. This gives Sun Wukong incredible reach that can be quite challenging to dodge!

Did I mention that I have a Sun Wukong design?? Cause I do. He’s a goofy goober, usually, but today I wanted to draw him kicking ASS.

This is probably my favourite part of the book so far, when Wukong exits the Brazier of Eight Trigrams. It’s such a small portion, but idk. Just the amount of rage he must have felt is something that I think about every now and then.

I RESEARCHED A LOT ON ARMOUR FOR THIS SO I REALLY HOPE ITS ACCURATE!! If not please tell me!!
