Today was a satisfying fall day. Went to the athome store, got pillows we've been meaning to get for over 6 months, got some very pleasing Halloween decorations, went and got fresh blackberry cobbler from a little local place, got Heine Bros. coffee (best coffee-shop coffee in the entire world, you cannot change my mind), and had pho for supper. Did some more decorating for Halloween without immediately making myself hurt doing it, it's been pleasant, if cold, today, I actually think I feel like doing some yarncraft this evening in between writing bits of things and maybe finishing one of the books on my side table here at the couch (and I am sitting without HURTING due to the sittng for the first time in a week, so HAH), our shy kitty has decided he LIKES sitting for extended periods on laps, and just...all in all extremely satisfying.
My endorphins are actually working today and my roommate is smiling. It was a good day.

my grandmother lost 150+lbs on the keto diet (also after a gastric bypass or smthn like that) and she’s managed to maintain the same weight over the last decade, give or take ~30lbs… she’s always dieting somehow and i like to take it upon myself to always give her a chocolate or a treat or smthn when i visit. i support her with this but *one* thing will not hurt and it makes her happy!

So I see folks pointing out that Louis' circle A tattoo is more likely an aesthetic choice than an announcement of a political commitment to anarchism, and saying basically that that maybe makes him a bit of a poser and I mean- I GUESS. But I don't like to look at things that way and I don't think it's useful. As I see it the subversive sexiness of the symbols of resistance have ALWAYS been gateways for people who are drawn to the struggle in vague ways and that's GOOD. Aligning yourself with those values is good no matter the reason, in my book, especially given the wretched options available out there, but also the journey doesn't necessarily stop there. Gatekeeping queerness victimizes people who are just trying things out and starting to discover that it may run deeper than just trying on a new look who should instead be welcomed and helped along their path, and I fail to see how gatekeeping political affiliations is any different (plus how counterproductive to actual movement building is that?)
ANYWAY. What I really want to say about Louis is that while I KNOW that Louis is probably not secretly a theory reading anti-state communalist anarchist, I think that actually Louis' optimism and idealism (and his unwavering commitment to allying himself with the working class and embracing those roots) are a perfect fit for the philosophy and always have been. I know that anarchism is mostly understood as being about throwing molotov cocktails and fighting the state (and the allure of its symbols are that they signify this, a terrific aesthetic for him to choose to sign on with in my book), but that's honestly largely cartoonish stereotyping that comes directly from anti-anarchist state propaganda. That resistance is necessary in this hellscape of oppression we live in and is super important, but in its heart anarchism is only about the state in that the state and capitalism currently stands in the way of its goals. The whole point of anarchism is that it's NOT about the state! It's about being able to imagine something better than a state, it's about how we live and about how we SHOULD live, it's about HOPE and picturing something utopian and something free of the ways capitalism pits us against one another! What could be more Louis than that?
"I need you and you need me and I love that" is as beautiful a way of talking about the cornerstone of anarchism that is mutual aid as any long winded essay I've read (even if what he meant was contextually different), and I think when he talks again and again about how special the space fans have made around him is he is expressing an intuitive understanding of the importance of autonomous zones, places and moments outside of the shitty life imposed on us by the system (also a huge part of anarchist thought). Maybe I'm just being an optimist but I think that Louis DOES understand that caring for people and wanting self-determination and freedom for all and allying himself with the working class involves a certain amount of resistance to and positioning yourself in opposition to the state. Thinking the symbols of smashing that state are cool isn't meaningless; it's a CHOICE. There are other cool symbols out there and I just happen to think that feeling a resonance with certain ones is something in and of itself, even if at this moment he does not choose to start a fight with the media about it all.

interview with the vampire (2022) deserves better promotion
another corn on the plate situation: amc's marketing strategy, if it even exists, sucks.
we've known this since season 1. personally, i was lucky enough to get on-board with the series early enough back while it was airing in 2022 because my algorithm knows me, knows i like (queer) dramatic pieces of media that will fuck me up emotionally for the rest of my life because i got too attached to the unstable character(s). i then convinced my equally insane friend to watch it with me (didn't take much convincing, honestly) and we've been hooked ever since, annoying people enough to tune in too.
and i know i'm not the only one. most of this show's marketing relies on its passionate fanbase, which amc is lucky to have, but mouth-to-ear promotion becomes frustrating when it seems to be the primary, and almost only, marketing tool (i say “almost” here because outlets like tvtime – thank you – have been doing the most to feed us interviews).
as of now, we've mostly gotten 2-pixel quality interviews over zoom. while i appreciate watching them because it's “better than nothing” and i love getting more content of them, whose interest does it pique other than people already invested in the fandom? we need more mainstream media news outlets to interview the cast – amc headquarters should consider themselves lucky to have cast members who love each other so much, why not use that to their advantage? give them a buzzfeed puppy interview! a gq agree to disagree interview! jacob anderson is your main actor, get him an elle song association interview! ladbible's food battle – uk vs australia vs america? get them to guess parisian vs new orleans slang? best friends test?
what will it take for amc to invest in a show that clearly deserves its already-received praise to gain a wider audience?
not only such exposure would gather more fans, but it would attract award critics attention – which the crew & cast deserve in masses. and if they wanna talk money, well, they should know the show's potential would bring a lot more capital. (it's already keeping them afloat...)
marketing investment goes a long way.

“Oh shit,” Joly said, sounding mildly concerned as he scrolled through his phone. “Something’s going on with Twitter.”
“Given the way the year of our Lord 2023 has gone thus far, I’m going to need you to be a little more specific,” Bossuet said.
Joly turned his phone so Bossuet could read. “They’re limiting how many tweets unverified people can read.”
Bossuet squinted at the phone screen. “Is Elon really that hard up for cash?”
“I mean, probably,” Joly said with a shrug. “Midlife crises are not cheap from my understanding.”
Bossuet laughed. “Ok, so we all switch to a different app for a hot second,” he said. “It’s not the end of the world.”
“It’s not the end of your world,” Joly corrected.
Bossuet scowled at him. “Pretty sure it’s not the end of anyone’s—”
Joly cut him off with a single raised eyebrow. “Grantaire,” he said, a little grimly. “It’s the end of Grantaire’s world as he knows it.”
Bossuet’s brow furrowed. “I don’t think Grantaire even has a Twitter account.”
“He doesn’t,” Joly said. “Enjolras does.”
“Oh.” Bossuet was silent for a moment before his eyes widened. “Oh. Oh no.”
Joly nodded. “Pretty much,” he said, sounding equal parts grim and self-satisfied that he’d understood the implications of this latest development first.
“Do you think we should warn him?” Bossuet asked.
“Should?” Joly said thoughtfully. “I mean, probably. We are his friends, after all, and his boyfriend is about to lose his fucking mind at his ragescrolling being potentially indefinitely interrupted.”
Bossuet nodded slowly. “But we’re definitely not going to warn him, right?”
Joly grinned. “Of course not,” he said. “Where would be the fun in that?”
